The Nonprofit Status: Wellesley Youth Lacrosse Club Inc.
Wellesley Youth Lacrosse Club operates as a nonprofit organization, reflecting its commitment to community service and youth development. As a nonprofit, the club is required to file annual tax returns, providing transparency in its operations and finances.
IRS Reporting Requirements
The club’s nonprofit status comes with specific reporting obligations:
- Form 990 filing for organizations with revenue of $200,000 or more and assets of $500,000 or more
- Form 990-EZ for smaller organizations
- Form 990N “e-Postcard” for organizations with revenue less than $50,000
How does the nonprofit status benefit the youth lacrosse program? Operating as a nonprofit allows the club to focus on its mission of youth development rather than profit, potentially allowing for lower participation costs and reinvestment of funds into program improvements.
The Impact of Youth Lacrosse Programs on Player Development
Programs like Wellesley Youth Lacrosse Club play a crucial role in the development of young athletes. These organizations provide more than just sports training; they offer a platform for personal growth, teamwork, and character development.
Benefits of Youth Lacrosse Participation
- Physical fitness and coordination
- Teamwork and communication skills
- Discipline and time management
- Confidence building
- Leadership opportunities
- Sportsmanship and fair play
How do these benefits extend beyond the lacrosse field? The skills and values learned through youth sports participation often translate to success in academic and personal life, contributing to well-rounded individual development.
The Role of Community Support in Youth Sports Programs
The success of organizations like Wellesley Youth Lacrosse Club relies heavily on community support. Parents, volunteers, local businesses, and schools all play crucial roles in creating a thriving youth sports environment.
Ways the Community Supports Youth Lacrosse
- Volunteer coaching and administration
- Field and facility access
- Equipment donations
- Sponsorships from local businesses
- Participation in fundraising events
How does community involvement enhance the youth lacrosse experience? Strong community support creates a more robust program, providing resources for better coaching, equipment, and facilities, ultimately leading to a more enriching experience for young players.
The Future of Youth Lacrosse: Trends and Opportunities
As youth lacrosse continues to grow in popularity, programs like Wellesley Youth Lacrosse Club are at the forefront of shaping the sport’s future. Several trends and opportunities are emerging in youth lacrosse:
Emerging Trends in Youth Lacrosse
- Increased focus on player safety and injury prevention
- Integration of technology in training and performance analysis
- Emphasis on multi-sport participation to prevent burnout
- Growing interest in girls’ lacrosse programs
- Development of indoor lacrosse options for year-round play
How are youth lacrosse programs adapting to these trends? Forward-thinking organizations are incorporating these elements into their programs, ensuring they stay relevant and continue to provide the best possible experience for young players.
Opportunities for Growth and Improvement
As youth lacrosse continues to evolve, several opportunities for growth and improvement present themselves:
- Expansion of programs to underserved communities
- Development of adaptive lacrosse programs for players with disabilities
- Increased collaboration with schools to integrate lacrosse into physical education curricula
- Creation of mentorship programs pairing youth players with college or professional athletes
- Implementation of mental health and wellness components in youth sports programs
How can youth lacrosse programs capitalize on these opportunities? By staying attuned to the needs of their communities and the evolving landscape of youth sports, organizations can continuously improve and expand their offerings, reaching more young athletes and providing even more comprehensive development programs.
The Importance of Age-Appropriate Skill Development in Youth Lacrosse
One of the key strengths of programs like Wellesley Youth Lacrosse Club is their focus on age-appropriate skill development. This approach ensures that young players build a strong foundation in the sport while maintaining their enthusiasm and avoiding burnout.
Age-Specific Skill Focus
Different age groups require different approaches to skill development:
- Ages 3-6: Basic motor skills, introduction to equipment, fun games incorporating lacrosse elements
- Ages 7-10: Fundamental stick skills, basic rules, introduction to team play
- Ages 11-14: Advanced stick skills, tactical understanding, position-specific training
- High School: Complex strategies, physical conditioning, college preparation
Why is age-appropriate skill development crucial in youth lacrosse? This approach ensures that players develop at a pace that matches their physical and cognitive abilities, leading to better skill retention, reduced frustration, and a more enjoyable experience overall.
Balancing Competition and Skill Development
While competition is an integral part of sports, youth lacrosse programs must strike a balance between competitive play and skill development. This balance can be achieved through:
- Practice sessions focused on individual and team skill development
- Scrimmages that emphasize applying learned skills rather than winning
- Age-appropriate game formats (e.g., smaller fields, modified rules for younger players)
- Positive reinforcement of effort and improvement rather than just game outcomes
How does this balanced approach benefit young players? By emphasizing skill development alongside healthy competition, players are more likely to develop a lifelong love for the sport while continuously improving their abilities.
The Role of Parent Education in Youth Lacrosse Programs
Successful youth lacrosse programs recognize the importance of parent education and involvement. Parents play a crucial role in supporting their child’s athletic journey and can significantly impact the overall youth sports experience.
Key Areas of Parent Education
Effective parent education programs in youth lacrosse often cover the following topics:
- Understanding the rules and strategies of lacrosse
- Appropriate sideline behavior and sportsmanship
- The importance of positive reinforcement and encouragement
- Nutrition and hydration for young athletes
- Balancing sports participation with academic responsibilities
- Recognizing and responding to signs of burnout or overtraining
How does parent education contribute to a positive youth lacrosse experience? Well-informed parents are better equipped to support their child’s athletic development, create a positive sports environment, and work collaboratively with coaches and program administrators.
Strategies for Engaging Parents in Youth Lacrosse Programs
Youth lacrosse organizations can employ various strategies to engage parents and enhance their involvement:
- Regular parent meetings and information sessions
- Creation of parent liaison roles within the organization
- Workshops on sports parenting and athlete development
- Volunteer opportunities for parents within the program
- Open communication channels between parents, coaches, and administrators
How do these engagement strategies benefit the overall program? By fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility, these strategies can lead to more engaged parents, better-supported athletes, and a stronger, more sustainable youth lacrosse program.
As we continue to explore the multifaceted world of youth lacrosse, it becomes clear that programs like Wellesley Youth Lacrosse Club are not just about teaching a sport. They are about building character, fostering community, and creating opportunities for young athletes to grow both on and off the field. Through expert coaching, age-appropriate skill development, community support, and parent engagement, these programs are shaping the future of lacrosse and contributing to the holistic development of young athletes.

Wellesley native Plumb continuing lacrosse success at Dartmouth
Plumb in gear at Dartmouth
Wellesley’s Sarah Plumb was a two-time first-team US Lacrosse High School All-American at the Noble & Greenough School in Dedham, where she led the girls’ squad to Independent School League titles in 2007 and 2008. Now she has hit her stride as a sophomore on the nationally ranked women’s team at Dartmouth College.
The midfielder was honored as Dartmouth’s Female Athlete of the Week after tallying two goals and two assists, plus four ball controls, in a 17-10 victory at sixth-ranked Syracuse, and racking up two goals, four ground balls, three draw controls, and four caused turnovers when the Big Green knocked off Yale, 12-5.
She was poised for a great season last year, after scoring four goals in Dartmouth’s opening game against Vermont. She also had three tallies against Fairfield and scored a key goal in a victory over Ivy foe Harvard. But after 12 starts, she was sidelined for the remainder of the season with a hairline fracture of the femur in one of her legs.
“I had a chance to regroup and refocus last summer and I had a better perspective on what I had to do to get ready for last fall’s team workouts,’’ said Plumb, whose parents, Robert and Laurie, played three sports, including lacrosse, at Trinity College. “I worked hard on improving my stick skills, both in carrying the ball downfield and on my quickness in catching passes and passing out of difficult situations.’’
Going into Tuesday’s home game against Siena, Dartmouth was ranked ninth nationally with a 7-1 record (3-0 Ivy). Plumb, who netted a pair of second-half goals to help break a 4-4 tie in a 9-7 squeaker Saturday at Brown, was third in team scoring with 22 points (14 goals, 8 assists).
“Being named Female Athlete of the Week was something I didn’t expect, but it’s just as exciting for our team. We lost to UNH by a goal in our opener, but we all learned from that experience and taught us that we have to respect every opponent. That’s how we can achieve even bigger goals,’’ added Plumb, coached by her mother in the Wellesley Youth Lacrosse program.
Plumb was a two-time league MVP in lacrosse at Noble & Greenough, where she played on six ISL championship teams in basketball and lacrosse and was a three-time first-team league all-star in field hockey.
“I loved all three sports, but my goal was to play college lacrosse at a high level and I love where I am right now. I’m definitely challenged,’’ said Plumb, whose brothers, Will and Greg, play lacrosse at Belmont Hill School. “My favorite part of lacrosse is how quickly the momentum can change in your favor and that you can have a hand in igniting that change.’’
Plumb said that anyone driving past the family home would know that lacrosse players reside there because “we have two pitch backs, sticks, and balls in the backyard. I leave my instruction to my coach, but I always enjoy feedback from my parents and trust their opinion. I liked to go out back and toss with Mom and Dad when I was younger and they encouraged me to keep practicing. It’s pretty cool to play the same sport in college as your parents.’’
Needham gymnast takes first in Italy
Needham High sophomore Alexandra Raisman won the senior all-around title at the City of Jesolo Trophy competition in Italy on March 28, helping the US gymnastics team to a first-place finish.
Raisman competed against gymnasts from Great Britain, Italy, and Russia, including third-place finisher Vanessa Ferrari of Italy, the 2006 world all-around champion. It was Raisman’s second international meet. She took second place at the Tyson American Cup in Worcester.
She trains with Mihai and Sylvia Brestyan, who coached 2008 Olympic silver medalist Alicia Sacramone.
Local riders qualify for national finals
Seven riders out of Concord-based Verrill Farm Stable have qualified for the Interscholastic Equestrian Association National finals to be held April 21-25 in Atlanta, Ga. The girls competed against a field of more than 200 at the Zone 1 (New England) finals at Mount Holyoke College on March 27-28.
Caroline Glen, a student at Weston High, and Belmont High students Sophie Offner and Megan Sass will compete individually in Atlanta. Chloe Howes and Emma Parker of Concord and twin sisters Amelia and Naomi Keany of Weston will represent the Concord Equestrian Team in the Futures Division as a middle school team.
The riders are coached by Meg Howes (Chloe’s mom) of Concord, Kate Candela of Maynard and Alyce McNeil of Acton.
Braves bidding for USA Hockey title
The Middlesex Braves Pee Wee Minor hockey team, with the help of several players from area communities, was lined up to compete in the USA Hockey National Championship, which started yesterday in Reston, Va., after winning the Massachusetts Select state title.
The Braves squad, which took a 29-3-2 record into the nationals, includes Alex Cohen, John Hincks, Thomas Joyce, Curtis Judd, Patrick Mullowney, and Thomas Tresca of Newton, and Colin Hanley, Kevin Ouellette, Johnny Pigott, and Peter Scheschareg of Arlington.
Here and there
Connecticut College freshman Ali Holland, a graduate of Watertown High, posted personal bests in three events while winning the long jump and finishing second in the 100-meter hurdles at last weekend’s Coast Guard Invitational. She also competed in the triple jump and ran the anchor leg of the 4×100-meter relay to help the Camels place second. . . Waltham-based Mass. Premier Soccer is seeking families to host visiting coaches who will be arriving April 15 to work at the organization’s camps and clinics. Families taking part in the host-a-coach program will receive a credit toward the cost of Mass. Premier Soccer programs. For details, contact Caley Iandiorio at [email protected].

Wellesley Celebrates National Girls & Women in Sports Day and 365 Days of Blue | Spotlight
Photo provided by Julia Monaco ’19
Wednesday, February 1, marked the 31st annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD), a nationwide celebration of the achievements of girls and women in sports and the positive influence of athletics in their lives. This year, the day coincided with Wellesley’s yearly celebration of the past 365 Days of Blue athletics. The ceremony, which took place at halftime of Wednesday’s basketball game, recognizes the Blue’s Seven Sisters, NEWMAC Conference, and NCAA participants and champions from the past year.

Organized nationally by a coalition composed of the Women’s Sports Foundation, the National Women’s Law Center, the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition, and Girls Inc., NGWSD began in 1987, both as a day to recognize women’s sports and in remembrance of Flo Hyman, a champion of women’s athletics and a U.S. Olympic volleyball silver medalist who died of Marfan syndrome in 1986. The day recognizes the progress of girls and women in sports, and the benefits that sports and fitness activities can bring to their lives, while also acknowledging that there is more work to be done to expand opportunities for women in athletics. NGWSD has grown into a national event across youth, college, and professional sports.
For Wellesley, the evening provided one more opportunity to recognize Blue Crew’s 2016 NCAA Division III National Championship, the first team championship in school history and the first rowing championship won by a women’s college, as well as the continuing success of the varsity athletic programs. In front of Wellesley’s largest crowd of the season, Andrew Shennan, provost, and Bridget Belgiovine, athletic director and chair of the Department of Physical Education, Recreation, and Athletics (PERA), greeted Wellesley’s athletes with congratulatory handshakes at halftime to recognize their success, notably the Blue’s sustained excellence at the annual Seven Sisters Championships, where Wellesley has now won 20 consecutive titles in swimming and diving, eight straight in crew, and three in a row in cross country.
Photo: The Wellesley Blue Swim and Dive team celebrate their 20th consecutive Seven Sisters win earlier this season.
The ceremony also included a trio of All-Americans in Maura Sticco-Ivins ’18, the 2015 national champion in 3-meter diving, who returned to the NCAA Championships to earn national runner-up honors in 2016; Abena Asare ’18, the first field athlete in College history to qualify for the NCAA Championships, and subsequently the first to earn All-American honors when she finished fourth in the long jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships; and Mary Keenan Kreidel ’17, who was lauded for her All-American eighth-place finish in the 5000m at last year’s NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Local youth athletes from the Natick Youth Basketball girls’ travel team, the Wellesley Scoops Field Hockey Club, and the Wellesley Youth Lacrosse Club joined the party; they were treated to ice cream alongside Wellesley’s student-athletes and their families and friends in attendance. In years past, the 365 Day celebration allowed PERA to recognize and thank its own athletes, but this year’s event has inspired a new tradition: joining with NGWSD to unite women and girls of all ages in celebration of women’s athletic achievement both at Wellesley and beyond.

Kota Milan indah, indah, keanggunan memerintah, saya menyukainya.
[Edisi Olahraga, 9 Juni 2011]
Saya tiba di alun-alun penting, di mana saya sangat hangat. Semuanya berakhir baik dengan Inter. Terima kasih kepada Moratti, seorang pria hebat, masalah kami murni bersifat ekonomi.

90,000 filmography, photo, biography.Actor, Director, Producer, Writer.
The actor was born on February 7, 1965 in Andrews, South Carolina. Shortly after the birth of their son, the parents moved to Crown Heights County, located in the central part of New York in the Brooklyn area. A few years later, they again changed their place of residence and moved to the middle working class area of Bedford-Stuyvesant. Chris’s mother, Rosalie Tingman, was a teacher and social worker with mentally handicapped children. His father, Julius Rock, first worked as a truck driver, and later became a carrier of correspondence. He died of an ulcer when Chris was twenty-three years old. In addition to Christopher, his three younger brothers, Tony, Kenny and Jordan also grew up in the family. Later, they all followed in their brother’s footsteps, finding work in show business. And his older half-brother Charles died in 2006, unable to cope with his addiction to alcohol. As a child, Rock had to get to the school where he studied on school buses, where mostly white-skinned students traveled. Each such trip turned out to be a lot of bullying on their part for the future actor.Over time, as Chris got older, the number of bullying only increased. The parents of the teenager, having learned about what was happening, took him from the James Madison school. Then the boy decided to completely refuse to continue his studies, having passed all the necessary school exams in absentia. At this time, Rock decided to devote his free time to part-time work in various fast food establishments.
Chris first performed in the standup genre in 1984. It happened on the stage of one of the network of New York comedy clubs Catch a Rising Star. The very first episodic film role was the work in the musical comedy “Conflict of Ways” by Michael Schultz, directed by Warner Bros. in 1985. The aspiring and inexperienced actor quickly and easily blended into comedy projects, getting roles in Keenen Ivory Wayans’ action movie “I’ll Get You Bastard” and the television series “Miami Police: Department of Morals.
