Under Armour’s lacrosse line has expanded rapidly, now encompassing a comprehensive range of products from entry-level to professional-grade equipment.
Under Armour Strategy Full Defense Lacrosse Stick: A Closer Look
The Under Armour Strategy Full Defense Lacrosse Stick stands out as a prime example of the brand’s dedication to quality and performance. Available in both black and white, this stick is designed to meet the specific needs of defensive players. Its features are carefully crafted to enhance gameplay and provide a competitive edge on the field.
Key Features of the Strategy Full Defense Stick
- 30 Degree Alloy Defense Shaft for enhanced durability and control
- Soft Mesh pocket for reduced break-in time
- Wider Face Shape to improve catching and passing accuracy
- Lower Profile Head for better pocket depth and ball retention
- Glide Scoop Technology to facilitate smoother ground-ball pickups
These features combine to create a stick that not only performs exceptionally but also adapts quickly to a player’s style. The reduced break-in time of the soft mesh is particularly beneficial for players who need their equipment to be game-ready with minimal preparation.
Innovative Design: The 30 Degree Alloy Defense Shaft
The 30 Degree Alloy Defense Shaft is a standout feature of the Under Armour Strategy stick. But what makes this design so effective? The angled shaft provides several advantages:
- Improved leverage for checks and poke checks
- Enhanced control during cradling and ball carrying
- Reduced fatigue during extended play
- Increased power transfer for longer, more accurate passes and clears
This innovative shaft design exemplifies Under Armour’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of lacrosse equipment technology. By rethinking the traditional straight shaft, Under Armour has created a tool that can give defensive players a significant advantage on the field.
Enhancing Performance: Lower Profile Head and Glide Scoop Technology
The Lower Profile Head of the Strategy stick is engineered to improve pocket depth and ball carriage. This design allows for better ball control and retention, crucial aspects of defensive play. The lower profile also contributes to a more aerodynamic stick, potentially improving the speed of checks and interceptions.
Glide Scoop Technology is another innovative feature that sets the Under Armour Strategy stick apart. This technology reduces friction during ground-ball pickups, allowing players to scoop up loose balls more efficiently. In a sport where possession is key, the ability to quickly and smoothly retrieve ground balls can be a game-changing advantage.
Under Armour’s Commitment to Player Development
Beyond equipment, Under Armour has demonstrated a strong commitment to player development in the lacrosse community. The brand sponsors numerous camps, clinics, and tournaments across the country, providing opportunities for young players to improve their skills and gain exposure to college recruiters.
Under Armour’s involvement in youth lacrosse extends to partnerships with high school and college programs, further solidifying its presence in the sport’s ecosystem. This comprehensive approach to lacrosse not only enhances the brand’s visibility but also contributes to the growth and development of the sport at all levels.
The Impact of Under Armour on Lacrosse Apparel
In addition to equipment, Under Armour has made significant strides in lacrosse apparel. The brand’s moisture-wicking technologies and performance fabrics have been adapted to meet the specific needs of lacrosse players. Under Armour’s lacrosse clothing line includes:
- Performance shirts and shorts designed for optimal mobility
- Compression gear to support muscles and improve recovery
- Protective padding integrated into base layers
- Cleats engineered for the quick cuts and sprints common in lacrosse
The integration of performance apparel with protective features has been particularly well-received by players who prioritize both comfort and safety on the field. Under Armour’s approach to lacrosse apparel demonstrates the brand’s understanding of the sport’s unique demands and its commitment to providing comprehensive solutions for players.
Sustainability and Innovation in Under Armour’s Lacrosse Line
As environmental concerns become increasingly important in sports equipment manufacturing, Under Armour has taken steps to incorporate sustainability into its lacrosse product line. The company has explored the use of recycled materials in certain components of its sticks and apparel, aiming to reduce its environmental footprint without compromising on performance.
Innovation remains at the forefront of Under Armour’s lacrosse equipment development. The brand continues to invest in research and development, exploring new materials and manufacturing techniques that could further enhance player performance. Some areas of focus include:
- Lightweight yet durable stick materials
- Advanced shock-absorption technologies for protective gear
- Smart fabrics that can provide real-time performance data
- Customizable equipment options to suit individual player preferences
These ongoing efforts in sustainability and innovation demonstrate Under Armour’s commitment to not only meeting current player needs but also anticipating and shaping the future of lacrosse equipment.
The Role of Professional Endorsements in Under Armour’s Lacrosse Success
Under Armour’s partnerships with professional lacrosse players have played a crucial role in the development and promotion of its lacrosse line. These endorsements provide valuable insights into the needs of elite players and help validate the performance of Under Armour’s products at the highest levels of competition.
Professional players often collaborate with Under Armour’s design teams, offering input on everything from stick design to apparel features. This collaboration ensures that Under Armour’s lacrosse products are not only technologically advanced but also practical and effective in real-game situations.

90,000 Double stars – Newspaper Kommersant No. 200 (6680) dated 31.10.2019
Another day in the NHL championship was marked by grandiose performances by Russian forwards. Veteran Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals, with four points and two goals against the Toronto Maple Leafs, moved even higher on the league’s top scorer list of all-time to 12th place. And the recent junior Andrei Svechnikov of the Carolina Hurricanes, who also made a double against the Calgary Flames, became the first hockey player in NHL history to perform the most difficult trick. He brought one of the two pucks into the goal with his hockey sticks on the hook, in a way called lacrosse.
At the end of each day of the regular season, the NHL selects three of its stars. And on that day, the troika could well consist exclusively of Russian hockey players, but the league, choosing the third star, preferred Nick Bonino from Nashville Predators to Dallas Stars striker Alexander Radulov who also scored a hat-trick in the match with Minnesota Wild. However, she probably had no doubts about those who should stand on the top steps of the “podium”.
The title of the first star, of course, went to Alexander Ovechkin, from whom, since he turned 30, everyone has been expecting at least a symbolic decline, but who, even in his veteran age, retains a fantastic tone. At the start of the current championship, the 34-year-old striker transparently hinted that he will again participate in the race for the title of the first sniper of the regular season, and the match in which his Washington coped with the now powerful Toronto – 4: 3 – was still the best for Ovechkin. He, having already managed to earn points twice for transfers to partners, scored two most important goals. One in the final period leveled the score, the other, with the help of a trademark throw-in-touch from the left throw-in circle in the majority, brought the Washingtonians a victory in overtime.
Alexander Ovechkin already has 11 goals in this championship. And in the sniper race, he shares the second place with Auston Matthews, representing just Toronto, lagging only on the puck behind David Pastrnyak of the Boston Bruins. And in the sniper race of all time, this double propelled Ovechkin to 12th place – he threw Luke Robitaille off him.And the top ten is already very close. Before her, Ovechkin with his 669 goals left to hit the gate 21 times – that is, he will probably break into an elite club this season. And the top ten, by the way, is closed by the great Mario Lemieux.
It was also impossible to pass by the performance of a Russian hockey player from a completely different generation – 19-year-old Andrei Svechnikov, who, in the last, debut season, was not just entrenched in the club’s foundations, but entrenched in the status of one of its leaders. In the match in which Carolina beat Calgary 2: 1, he also scored a double and also joined in the decisive minutes, in the middle of the final period. Moreover, before his “explosion” rivals were leading. But the point is not so much in this, but in how Svechnikov scored the first of his goals.
This episode became the main video hit not even of the day, but maybe of the entire hockey fall. Svechnikov, being behind the goal, put the puck on the hook of the club, and then with a sharp movement brought it into the near “nine” above the shoulder of goalkeeper David Rittich – he, it seems, did not have time to understand anything. This trick is called differently, but in North America the term “lacrosse” has taken root – from the popular game there, in which the ball is thrown and caught with objects that look like nets.In hockey, he is the rarest, exclusive. For a long time they knew about him only from episodes from children’s matches, in which the level of resistance and the cost of error are still low. At the elite level, he was first seen at the 2011 World Cup in Slovakia: in the semifinals, Finn Mikael Granlund scored the Russian national team in this way. And in the NHL, before Svechnikov, who, as it turned out, rehearsed “lacrosse” at almost every training session, no one has been able to do this until now.

In Zheleznogorsk, recruitment to the lacrosse team is underway / Sport / News / GiG: city site of Zheleznogorsk
The iron man Evgeny Rekhlov wrote to the GiG group on VKontakte: “Recruitment to the lacrosse team is underway. If you want to try yourself in a super interesting, dynamic and entertaining team game, come to us! ”
Most of the townspeople, like many of the inhabitants of our country, the sonorous word “lacrosse” does not cause any associations at all. What’s this? Where did it come from? How to play it? GiG met with Rekhlov and found out the details.
It turned out that our hero works for ISS, and in his free time from creating satellites, he goes in for sports. He found out about lacrosse a couple of years ago from the same announcement: “A team is being recruited, we invite everyone, it will be interesting.”It turned out to be really interesting! Lacrosse is a complete stranger to a Russian. There are only two full-fledged clubs in the whole country – in Moscow and St. Petersburg. And they were formed in 2007 – Russian lacrosse is still very young and green. In addition to the capitals, Yaroslavl and Krasnoyarsk are trying to assemble full-fledged teams. One requires 10 players, and to enter the field and play, multiply by two. While the guys are training in a reduced composition, practicing all kinds of techniques using videos and books.
“The North American Indians invented this sport,” Evgeny Rekhlov told GiG.- True, for them it was not just entertainment, but the training of warriors. From time to time, games were arranged to peacefully resolve the dispute between the tribes – who won is right. And the teams then consisted not of ten people, as now, but of several hundred – the whole tribe could participate at once. At the same time, the playing field stretched for kilometers!
Lacrosse is somewhat reminiscent of field hockey, but instead of classic clubs, athletes hold special sticks in their hands, reminiscent of butterfly nets. The attackers have shorter ones, the defenders have longer ones, and the goalkeepers have the largest nets. With a nets, players throw a small rubber ball, the task is to hit the opponent’s goal. As in football, you cannot touch the ball with your hands, but you can kick it on occasion. It is even allowed to push opponents and hit the armor with a stick. The roles in lacrosse are clearly defined: the goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders, and three strikers. Attackers cannot play defense, and defenders cannot attack.
“The game is very popular in the US and Canada, with hundreds of teams playing lacrosse in student leagues,” says Rekhlov.- I would like to gather a team with us in order to compete with the same Muscovites on occasion. We will provide training equipment! There are at most a hundred people playing lacrosse throughout the country. Therefore, even a beginner has a real chance to get into the Russian national team and go to the World Cup.
By the way, it was the Americans who brought lacrosse to Russia. The founder and captain of the Moscow club was David Diamonon, a coach from Texas. At first, the team consisted of expats and foreign students, but gradually Russian players began to come to it – now there are already 95% of them. The club is currently headed by Evgeny Arkhipov, who played for the Rochester Institute of Technology in the US Collegiate Lacrosse League. In 2014, the Russian national team took part in the World Championship and became 32nd out of 38. For a newcomer team, which, unlike the leaders, did not have time to gain a century of experience, it is not so bad! Now the national team is preparing for the European Championship 2016 in Budapest.
mountain biking and alpine skiing
Downhill mountain biking can lead to very serious injuries, which must be said right out of the gate. You can do terrible things to yourself.
I have ridden mountain slopes for 15 years, just for recreation, and I had several problems along the way:
- separated AC joint in the shoulder
- hyper elbow
- deep bodily wounds requiring stitching stitches on the legs (in mostly pedals)
- severe gravel rash (like all the skin from my triceps)
- countless minor scratches, bumps, bruises, etc.
There are no breaks or other “serious” injuries yet, but I have seen many unfortunate results . ..The potential for injury is very real and I would say that you won’t go downhill without getting injured, it’s just a matter of how hard.
It really depends on the rider and the track. Some downhill trails are easy to drive at beginner’s level, mostly flat, well-built turns, a few small features (jumps, falls, logs, rocks). The difficulty progresses all the way to 40-foot jumps, steep descents, a very rough single track with brake ruts and holes and water boulders, muddy rock gardens with all kinds of pointed chisels, trees in the immediate vicinity, flat or inclined corners that will all but push you off the track. and very high speeds (50 km / h or more).Stopping is a luxury that is not always available depending on the area.
Having said all this, riding within your limits, you can ride for a long time without serious injury. I think downhill skiing (like skateboarding) is a great sport for kids; You learn about risk versus reward, you get injured and a little resigned, and you develop advanced motor skills and coordination on a free surface.
It’s all about control, knowing the boundaries and moving them slowly.Fortunately, the more advanced downhill runs are so scary that most people are more timid than daring, which is great!
Armor is important. A quality full helmet is a must. The glasses protect the eyes from dust. Body armor (chest, back, arms) is recommended, but you can probably do without elbow pads. Wrap around knee pads (with lateral knee protection) or knee + shin guard. Nice sticky shoes for grip on the pedal and gloves, mostly for grip – sweaty hands slide over the grill.

– Help! Brendan shouted, twisting and kicking with all his might.
– Uff! – his father fell to the ground. – God, Bren, what’s wrong with you? Dr. Walker asked, getting to his feet and rubbing his sacrum.
– Dad! Don’t sneak up on me like that!
– Let’s go. Mom and Diana are waiting for you. We’re going to take a look at the inside of the house.
The children followed their father.Brendan felt a chill as soon as he walked to the door of the house marked “128”, but in the end the house stood on a cliff. The Stone Angel had such a fascination for him that he almost lost sight of – the Kristoff House in the far half did indeed sit on iron pillars surrounded by boulders on the beach far below. A dozen piles were visible underneath a section of the house.
– What is it? .. – Brendan began, entering the house. But then he was blinded by the beauty of the interior decoration. Mrs Walker was also amazed and nearly lost her negotiator mask. She was busy looking at the antiques and staring at her reflection in the polished railing. Dr. Walker whistled softly.
“Wow,” Cordelia said, “this hall is truly great, and it will never be ironic.
“And this is the great hall,” Diana said. – The interior has been impeccably restored, with the previous owners following the original style. Not bad for a termite-eaten barn, huh?
Cordelia blushed. The hall was filled with Greek ceramics – black and red, and red and black (Copies, thought Cordelia, otherwise they wouldn’t be worth the price), and there was also an iron curled rack for outerwear and a marble bust of a philosopher-like men with wavy beards.Everywhere there was lighting, like in a museum. Brendan wondered how this was possible – the inside of the house seemed larger than the outside.
“This house has been designed for entertainment since it was built,” Diana remarked, making a sweeping gesture with her hand.
– Who was having fun here? Cordelia asked.
“Lady Gaga,” Brendan said calmly, trying to hide his concern. “At first there was no sign, then this eerie statue, and now a house with an antique shop inside …”
“Bren,” Mrs. Walker said warningly.
“Nobody’s thrown parties here in years,” Diana continued. – The previous owners were the family who paid for the restoration. They did not live here for long and after that they wanted to move out. They moved to New York.
– And before that? Brendan asked.
– Was empty for decades. Some of the decoration fell into disrepair, but, you know, these old houses were built for centuries. This one was actually built to float!
– What? Brendan was surprised.
– Are you kidding? Cordelia said.
– The original owner, Mr. Kristoff, wanted to make sure his house could withstand more than just the earthquake he experienced. Therefore, he placed several barrels of air in the suspended base. If something like this happens, the house is designed in such a way that it will fall off the cliff into the ocean and float away.
“This is great,” Eleanor said.
“No, this is absurd,” the father replied.
– On the contrary, Dr. Walker, houses are now being built in the Netherlands according to this principle.Mr. Kristoff was ahead of his time.
Diana led the Walker family into the living room, which had a stunning view of the Golden Gate Bridge. It seemed to Brendan that this could not be – he thought that the bridge should be visible from the other side of the house, but then he realized that they went around the house in a circle, moving along the huge hall. Crystal vases, alabaster sculptures and armor distracted him … as did the stone angel he knew was there and held out his hand with a broken brush, looking through the moss.
In the living room were Chester chairs, a glass coffee table with driftwood legs, and a Steinway grand piano.
– Is the furniture for sale? Mrs. Walker asked.
– Everything is for sale, – Diana smiled. – Everything is included in the price.
She went on with the whole family, except for Brendan, who was staring at the view from the window. He grew up in San Francisco and was used to seeing the bridge every day, but from this angle he was so close, almost under it, and now the salmon color of the bridge seemed unnatural to him.Brendan wondered what the original owner, Mr. Kristoff, had thought about the bridge when it was first built. Because if the house was built in 1907, – Brendan quickly began to sort out historical facts and dates in his mind, – it means that before the bridge was built, the house had already stood here for thirty years, and then the view opened onto the oceanic expanse, framed by two gigantic rocks. Maybe Mr. Kristoff was already dead by the time the bridge was built?
– Hey? Brendan shouted hastily, realizing that he was alone.
He ran out of the living room to find Diana and his family.
Meanwhile, Cordelia was also thinking about Mr. Kristoff. She had heard the name before, but couldn’t remember where. As soon as she entered the next room, she already smelled where they had come: dust, musty pages, old ink.
“Welcome to the library,” Diana announced.
The library was great. Vaulted ceiling, books on the shelves of wall-high mahogany cabinets. Two brass ladders providing access to books on the top shelves of the cabinets. Between them is a massive oak table, on which stood several green lamps dividing the space of the library. Several grains of dust swirled around the table like birds in an updraft.
Cordelia had to look at the books on the shelves. She always did that. Leaning over to one of the books, she realized where she had heard of Mr. Kristoff.
5
Cordelia could read anywhere. She even read in the car on the hilly path through San Francisco to number 128 Sea Cliff Avenue, sandwiched between her brother and her dyslexic sister struggling with a GPS navigator.
“There’s nothing better than dipping into a book,” her mother kept repeating, but Cordelia suspected that her grandmother had said the same thing to Bellamy when she was young.
Cordelia learned to read early. At the age of four, sitting with her parents in a trendy restaurant, she began to read a newspaper over the shoulder of an old woman, which made her embarrassed, exclaiming: “This baby is reading!” As Cordelia grew older, she began to work on the parent collection of the Oxford Library of World Literature Masterpieces, with thick leather spines. Now she’s moved on to lesser-known authors like Brautigan, Paley, and Kosinsky, whose books she hunted down in the first edition or old paperback. The less well-known the better. She felt that if she read an author that no one had heard of, then she alone would be able to keep him or her alive, intellectually reanimating each of them. At school, she was in trouble for hiding books in textbooks (although Ms. Cavanaugh did not mind this). Last year, Cordelia found out which highly prolific adventure novelist Howard Lovecraft and Robert Irwin Howard had identified as an influential writer in the early twentieth century.
“Denver Kristoff,” Cordelia read the name on the spine. – Diana, this house was built by Kristoff, Denver Kristoff, a writer?
– Quite right. Have you heard of him?
– Haven’t read it yet, but definitely heard. His books don’t even appear on eBay. He wrote fantasy and science fiction … His ideas were reflected in the works of the people who later invented Conan the Barbarian, and contributed to the emergence of more modern ideas about zombies . .. He did not have serious criticism …
She was forced to shut up, as Brendan became particularly exaggerated to pretend that he was sick.
– Will you stop?
– Sorry, I’m allergic to nerds.
– Dad, we could live in the house of a famous little-known writer!
– I’ll take note of that.
Diana went further, taking the family with her (Dr. Walker had to almost forcibly drag Cordelia out of the library), and led them into the pristine kitchen. It was the most modern room we had seen so far. The new technique glittered in the rays of light. It seems that even microbes were afraid to come here.An impressive array of knives, from the smallest to the largest, hung over the hob on magnetic tape.
– Can we make cookies here? Eleanor asked.
“Of course,” Dr. Walker replied.
– Can we only cook cookies here?
– “Viking”, “Electrolux”, “Sub-Zero”, – Diana listed the brands of equipment manufacturers, leading the family to a two-door refrigerator made of stainless steel. Brendan suddenly thought that there might be something strange inside, such as a severed head … he opened the door, but found nothing special except absolute emptiness.
Diana climbed the stairs with the Walkers. The modern kitchen decor instantly lost its relevance as soon as they were at the top of the spiraling wooden staircase, and now Eleanor was trying to run up and down it. It was the widest spiral staircase the Walkers had ever seen. She connected the first and second floors. Upstairs was a full-length corridor, ending with a window overlooking the bay and a smaller staircase leading back to the lobby.
Old faded portraits in pastel colors hung on the walls. In one, a sullen man with a square beard stood next to a lady in a ruffled dress, clutching a stroller with her hands. In another, the same lady was looking over her shoulder at the dock, while a man in a newsboy’s cap peered into her. And the third showed an elderly woman sitting under a tree and holding a child, dressed in a dress and cap.
“The Kristoff Family,” Diana explained, noticing Brendan and Cordelia’s curiosity. “Here is Denver Kristoff (she pointed to a man with a square beard), his wife Eliza May (a woman on the dock) and his mother (a woman with a child in her arms, sitting under a tree). Her name is now out of my head, but one way or another, the paintings are hanging just for demonstration, after moving – if you move here – you can post pictures of your own family here.
Brendan tried to present pictures of the Walker family on the wall: he and his dad playing lacrosse with an improper golf club; Cordelia yells at mom because she doesn’t want to be photographed without makeup; Eleanor smiles very broadly, squinting both eyes. Even if you add a hundred years to the pictures, will they look just as extraordinary and eerily important?
“There are three bedrooms on this floor,” Diana said.- The biggest …
– Only three? You guys promised me I would have a private room, ”Brendan said.
“The fourth is upstairs, in the attic,” Diana said, pointing her finger at the ceiling.
Luke leaned back, and the sounds of footsteps were heard, at first muffled, and then turned into flip flops.
– Cool! – Brendan was delighted. He quickly ran up the stairs.
Cordelia entered one of the rooms, not the largest (with a huge bed and two bedside tables), but quite spacious, with wallpaper with a pattern of lilies.
“This one will be mine,” she said.
– Then what is mine? Eleanor asked.
“Children, we haven’t decided anything yet…” Dr. Walker tried to reason with her, but Cordelia had already pointed her finger at the door of the third room, which looked like a maid’s room or closet.
– Will I always get the smallest?
– You are the smallest.
– Mom! It’s not fair! Why do I get a small bedroom?
“Cordelia is a big girl, she needs space,” Mrs. Walker said.
– Did you hear, Cordelia? Mom said it’s time for you to go on a diet! – said Brendan from the attic.
– Bren shut up! She meant that I am older!
Standing alone upstairs, Brendan smiled back, but then his attention was completely captured by the attic. There was a fold-out bed by the window; there was also a bureau with various knick-knacks and a skeleton of a bat on a shelf sticking out of the wall. The skeleton of a bat, wings outstretched to the sides, was anchored to smooth black stone. Her head was lifted up, as if she were catching beetles. It was one of the most terrifying sights Brendan had ever seen … but he wasn’t scared. Instead, he pulled out his mobile to take a picture.
– Brendan, apologize to your sister! Came the cry of Mrs. Walker.
– Yeah, come here, Bren! Cordelia joined in.
Well, of course, when he showed no fear, no one was around, and his resilience remained invaluable. Brendan went downstairs. Cordelia looked at her brother expectantly.
“Sorry,” he said. – You don’t need a diet. Look what is up here! I photographed . ..
Cordelia snatched the phone from him and deleted the picture.
– Hey!
– Now we are quits.
– But you didn’t even look!
Diana tried to hide her irritation behind a smile.
– Can we continue?
Walkers followed her down the hallway; they passed a handle cut into a square niche in the wall.
– What is this? Eleanor asked.
“Dumbwaiter to serve food to the upper floors,” Diana explained.
They came to the end of the corridor.
“That’s it,” Diana said, looking out the window at the harbor, then she looked at the Walkers’ used car and finally looked at Dr. Walker. – You did not ask the most important question.
“What a price,” Dr. Walker said sadly.
The truth was that when he heard the words “rustic” and “charming,” like Cordelia, he thought that the value of the house would exceed the money they could spend to buy it.But a two-story mansard house on Sea Cliff Avenue with full furnishings, a library and views of the harbor bridge . .. Yes, this residence is worth five million dollars.
“The owners are asking for three hundred thousand,” replied Diana.
6
Brendan saw a shadow of disbelief run across his father’s face. But then Dr. Walker pulled himself together and spoke in his special voice. This change was easy to see. Brendan was used to hearing this voice when Dad was interviewed or when he consulted other surgeons, but in the last month after the “incident,” Dr. Walker had no opportunity to use it.Now he spoke to them purposefully.
– Miss Dobson, we are buying a house. Please have all the necessary paperwork ready so that we can get the formalities out of the way as soon as possible.
– Wonderful! Diana handed Dr. Walker a business card, which she removed from a silver card holder.
Mrs. Walker hugged her husband.
– What does this mean? Home is ours now? Are we going to live here? Eleanor wondered.
Brendan stepped forward.
– Why is it so cheap?
– Bren! Said Mrs Walker.
– The price is the same as for an apartment. Even less. There should be much more though. What are you trying to slip?
“Inquisitiveness is your family trait,” Diana said approvingly. “Brendan, the old owners are trying to get rid of unnecessary real estate. Like many other families, they have fallen on hard times and are willing to take a price cut to sell the house, especially if it can help those in dire straits. You may have noticed that there is no For Sale sign on the lawn. The owners did not want to sell the house to the first family they came across – they were looking for a special family in need of a home.
She smiled. Brendan didn’t like being the object of her pity. It was one thing if she felt sorry for him personally – he could put up with that – but she felt sorry for them all. And all because of my father. This pity made Brendan very uncomfortable. Dr. Walker decided to rehabilitate himself in the reverse order: to restore his reputation by buying an impressive home, which allows him to get an impressive job in an equally impressive hospital, the administration of which will be impressed by his fame and turn a blind eye to the “incident. “But he failed to impress even a real estate agent. Brendan wanted to be on his own, or at least go to boarding school, like some of his friends. But his parents could not afford to send him to such an educational institution.
Diana led the Walkers down the stairs through the huge foyer to the main entrance.
– I think the Kristoff House will be the perfect home for your family.
– We shouldn’t buy it. Something is wrong here, ”Brendan whispered to Cordelia.- And you yourself know that dad cannot be objective in recent days.
– You were just scared.
– What? I? No.
– Of course I was scared. You don’t want to live next to this scary angel on the lawn.
– Sorry? There was a skeleton of a bat in the attic, and I was not in the least afraid.
– So what? It doesn’t prove anything. Nell, was Bren scared of that statue?
Eleanor nodded.
– I was right.
Brendan couldn’t let Cordelia taunt him. When his family left the house and headed down the path to the car, he ran to the stone angel. He thought about how now he will take out his phone and take a picture in which he hugs the statue and smiles, demonstrating to the whole world that he is not afraid of this piece of stone overgrown with moss.
But the stone angel was not there.
Brendan resisted the urge to call someone as a witness. Maybe he just messed up. Maybe a statue on the other side of the house. But this is absurd: he remembered exactly that the angel’s right hand had been chipped off and that he was standing a few inches from the outer wall.Who moved the statue?
Brendan knelt down to examine the pine needles covering the ground where the angel stood. There should be a clear mark, the needles should be wet and pressed into the ground, probably there should even be swarming wood lice there, but everything looked as if the statue had never stood here …
A face suddenly appeared in the air just inches from Brendan and hissed like a swarm of wasps straight out of Hell:
– You don’t belong here.
90,000 ▷ 14 countries with an official national sport ? cultmir.ru
Sport is an integral part of the life of citizens of every country on Earth. Every country plays a specific sport, and every country has at least one sport that is considered an integral part of their culture and society. However, there are only 14 countries on Earth that have a national sport that is de jure or statutory.
Argentina – Pato
The Argentinean national sport of pato is a horse-drawn game that combines elements of polo and basketball. In this game, two teams of four on horseback compete for possession of the ball and then score by throwing it over a vertically spaced ring. The earliest tales of Pato date back to 1610, and the game has a turbulent and violent history. Instead of a ball, then they used a live duck, and people were often trampled and fights broke out. It was common for government regulations to prohibit the game from being played for much of the 18th century. In the 1930s, Alberto del Castillo Posse developed the rules for organizing the game, and by 1953 the game had acquired sufficient legitimacy to become a national sport.
Bahamas – sailing sloop
The Bahamas are engaged in sailing. It used a boat that has a single mast and a bow rig that is only one sail. Every year the Bahamas hosts regattas, which are a series of boat races. During these regattas, sailors from all over the Bahamas, as well as foreigners, come to show their sailing prowess. Sailing sailing has been the national sport in the Bahamas since 1993.

In the international version of the sport, two teams of seven players occupy opposite parts of the field. Each team sends a raider to half of the other team, which must tag opponents when holding their breath. Tagged players must try to capture the raider before he returns to his side, or hope he breathes before returning to his side.Kabaddi originated in various forms throughout the Indian subcontinent, but the modern standardized version of the sport did not take place until the early 1900s. In 1972, kabaddi became the national sport of Bangladesh.

The sport has been developed in Brazil mainly to be African slaves since the 16th century.Following the end of slavery in Brazil in 1888, capoeiristas who began using their skills as bodyguards, hitmen and groups raided cities as Brazilian society despised them as former slaves. By 1890, capoeira was banned from practicing. In 1932, Mestre Bimba founded the first capoeira school, following the regional bayana loot style since capoeira was still illegal. By 1940, capoeira was legalized in Brazil. In 1972, Brazil’s national sport was made.
Canada – Lacrosse and Hockey
Canada has a national summer sport in lacrosse and a winter national sport in ice hockey. In both games, the goal is to score by shooting the ball / puck into the opponent’s goal past the goalkeeper. On defense, you have to keep the other team from winning and get hold of the ball / puck. Both lacrosse and ice hockey are known to be very physical games, with a lot of body contact. Lacrosse was developed by the indigenous people of North America as early as the 10th century and was well established in the 17th century. In 1855, William George Beers founded the Montreal Lacrosse Club and codified the game in 1867. By the 20th century, Canada had a lacrosse team at all levels. Ice hockey evolved from the simple ball games played in Great Britain in the 18th century, but the modern version of the sport was developed in Canada. The first ice hockey game was played in 1875, followed by various amateur and professional leagues. Lacrosse and ice hockey were recognized as Canada’s national sports in 1994.
Chile – Chilean Rodeo

The Chilean rodeo began in the 16th century during the reign of the Spanish governor of Garcia, Hurtado de Mendoza, to prevent the loss of livestock by rounding them off.For the commemoration of Saint James, although this was later changed to commemorate Saint Mark. By the end of the 17th century and beyond, the sport became more orderly and popular. By 1961, the sport was regulated by the Federation of Chilean Rodeos, and the following year, in 1962, it became the official national sport of Chile.
Colombia – Tejo

It consists of throwing a metal disc across an alley about 65 feet (20 meters) away while trying to hit a metal pipe against a 3 feet by 3 feet (1 meter by 1 meter) board held by a wooden frame.and covered with clay set at a 45 degree angle. There is no generally accepted theory of the origin of tejo, but it is generally accepted that the sport originated with the indigenous aborigines of central Colombia. Modern tejo competitions are found in cities of all sizes, with highly organized tournaments and corporate sponsors, usually beer companies. Tejo became the official national sport of Colombia in 2000.
