Sylvania Recreation has been offering Youth Lacrosse programs to Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan residents since 1995. There are a variety of lacrosse programs available to your aspiring lacrosse player. Our indoor programs are held at Tam-O Shanter in the Fall and Winter months. The outdoor programs are held the beautiful Pacesetter Park. We are proud to offer coaches training, clinics and player camps throughout the year. Join us and help enhance your child’s interest in Lacrosse — the ‘Fastest Game on Two Feet’.

2023 Sylvania Travel Lacrosse Tryouts
Date: Saturday, October 8th, 2022
Teams: 5th & 6th Boys (Coaches: Brian Koch, Jack Thompson, Brad Carpenter) / 7th & 8th Grade Boys (Coaches: Brian Koch / Tony D’Amico)
Time: 5th & 6th Grade Boys (9am-10:15am) / 7th & 8th Grade Boys (10:30am-12pm)
Location: NEW LOCATION! Sylvania Sports & Exhibition Center
Fees: If selected is $295, includes Spring outdoor season fee / Uniforms are not inculded in the player fee.

Program Overview
Pre-Season Indoor Training: Begins mid-October through mid-March at least once per week at the King Rd Indoor Facility or Sylvania Tam-O Shanter if space is available.
2023 Spring Youth Rec Lacrosse League: All players who make the Sylvania Travel Lacrosse Team are required to participate in the Sylvania Recreation Youth Lacrosse League held at Pacesetter Park.

Outdoor Boys
Our program is open to all Sylvania Recreation District residents as well as non-residents. This program is suited for children of all ability levels. The philosophy is to promote a fun learning experience in an organized environment. With a desire to learn and practice, children should improve on the skills of the game from the beginning to the end of the season though sound coaching. Our volunteer coaches will place emphasis on teaching the fundamentals, working as a team and having fun.
Program Details: Games will be played at Pacesetter Park! No prior experience is required for those interested in learning this exciting, fast paced game. Practices will begin in early April. The program will be conducted on Sunday afternoons with alternative days during the week.
1st & 2nd Grade Boys – Learn to Play “Flex6”
Dates: April 16 – May 21, 2023
Grade: 1st & 2nd Grade
Location: Pacesetter Park
Games: Sunday at 12:00pm
Individual Resident Fee: $55 (late fee additional $10)
Individual Non-Resident Fee: $65 (late fee additional $10)
Deadline: April 7, 2023
Instructors: High School Lacrosse Coaches and Players.
Equipment Needed: Players should provide boys Lacrosse Stick & Gloves.
This program will focus on all aspects of learning lacrosse, including: proper fundamentals and skill development, along with game play opportunity using the USA Lacrosse Flex6 program.

3rd & 4th Grade Boys
Dates: April 3 – May 25, 2023
Grade: 3rd & 4th Grade
Location: Pacesetter Park
Games: Sunday afternoons (occasional weeknights or Saturdays possible)
Individual Resident Fee: $85 (late fee additional $10)
Individual Non-Resident Fee: $105 (late fee additional $10)
Team Fees: $1100
Deadline: March 17, 2023
Equipment Needed: Lacrosse Stick, Gloves, Mouth Guard, Shoulder Pads and Elbow Pads — We provide a game jersey to each player in the league and if needed, we can loan you a helmet for the season. Helmet and game jerseys must be returned at the end of the season.
This league will require a few weekends of local travel. We will be collaborating with many other community based Lacrosse programs in NW Ohio and SE Michigan.
Goalie and filed players must be equiped with NOCSAE ND200 and SEI certified chest protector against commotio cordis.
5th thru 8th Grade Boys

No prior experience is required for those interested in learning this exciting, fast paced game. Practices will begin in early April. Most games will be played on Sunday afternoons along with some weekday evening games. The season will consist of 8 games.

Participating in our programs is a great way to improve lacrosse skills and IQ. Parent volunteers are needed to coach the teams, please consider volunteering. Little Laxers Clinics (Boys & Girls)
Little Laxers is a player development program instructed by area college and HS lacrosse players and coaches. This program focuses on technique and concepts to help players elevate their game through skills and drills that emphasize stickwork, shooting, dodging, situational concepts and more.
Girls (Grades 1st-4th): Monday 5pm — 5:50pm, October 17 – November 21, 2022 (WILL NOT MEET ON HALLOWEEN)
Boys (Grades 1st – 4th): Tuesday 4pm — 4:50pm / October 18 – November 22, 2022
Location: Tam-O-Shanter
Boys Fees: $65 (Residents) / $75 (Non-resident) – (6 sessions)
Girls Fees: $55 (Residents) / $65 (Non-resident) – (5 sessions)
Deadline: October 14, 2022
Equipment Needed (Girls): Player must provide girls Lacrosse Stick & Protective Eyewear.

- Sylvania Recreation can provide helmets to participants if needed.
- Lacrosse 6s is a player developmental league. This league will include a Tuesday practice and Saturday game.
- Games are 6v6 format. (4) – 8 minute quarters.
- Game play emphasizes quick transitions, high energy play, on the fly substitutions, and quick starts following goals.
- All officials will be HS Certified Officials.
- Follows World Lacrosse Sixes Rules
Dates: October 18 – November 22, 2022 (6 weeks)

ABOUT SAJRD
The Sylvania Recreation District (SAJRD) was formed in 1988 to provide the citizens of the Sylvania area with high quality recreational programs and facilities. The District is a collaboration between the City of Sylvania, Sylvania Township and Sylvania Schools. Each of these political entities appoints four people to the 12-person SAJRD Board.
It is the mission of the Sylvania Area Joint Recreation District (SAJRD) to provide high quality recreation and leisure facilities, parks, programs and activities to meet the demonstrated needs of all citizens who reside within the district through sound planning, efficient allocation of resources, and effective management.
Sylvania Recreation values the impact our volunteer coaches have on youth sports. All volunteer coaches must meet the established criteria and guidelines for each program along with ensuring that every player is provided with an opportunity to have the most positive youth sports experience possible. Sylvania Recreation strives to provide our coaches with the necessary educational tools and resources to positively impact the youth and parents of our community.
