I must admit that Lacrosse isn’t a sport that I know too much about, but I do kind of understand the rules and how to play it. The firstI must admit that Lacrosse isn’t a sport that I know too much about, but I do kind of understand the rules and how to play it. The first Lacrosse game I ever played on console was Casey Powell Lacrosse 16 and whilst it had some decent mechanics I distinctly remember the lack of polish in a number of areas and the shortcomings it suffered with. Casey Powell Lacrosse 18 still suffers with a few of these problems but without a doubt it has seen some improvements over its predecessor. These improvements make the game a pretty enjoyable affair at times and I especially found the most enjoyable moments to be contained in the career mode. The career mode has quite a bit of depth to it and this depth has a great rewarding feeling to it so carrying on in this mode was very easy to do. You will notice however that the game does suffer with a few technical issues every now and then and whilst none of these issues are game-breaking they still take away from the overall gameplay somewhat. These issues will definitely be off-putting for some and whilst the game has seen quite a few improvements over its predecessor it doesn’t do anything major to make people who hated Casey Powell Lacrosse 16 like this instalment. If however you were fan of the first game then you will love the little tweaks that have been made to the gameplay. The gameplay feels more fluid and responsive this time around and without a doubt the AI is much improved this time around, which in turn makes the gameplay a lot more fun and realistic. By improving these aspects the game definitely has more replaybility and the replayabilty is enhanced even further with the very good creation system. Creating certain things is very fun and enjoyable and I was very impressed with the amount of freedom the game allows you to have in the creation system. One of the biggest gripes I had with Casey Powell Lacrosse 16 was the presentation side of the game, and unfortunately nothing much has changed here. The visuals and sound design still lack a lot of polish and this without a doubt affects the immersion levels quite considerably, which is a shame. At the end of the day Lacrosse is never going to be one of my favourite sports, but I can definitely say that this game can be quite fun when played in short bursts. With Casey Powell Lacrosse 18 you can definitely see that the series is taking a step in the right direction and if they continue to improve in certain areas then the game will definitely get played by more people in the future. It may not be for everybody and it still has a few shortcomings but it does enough to get a thumbs up from me.… Expand

Casey Powell Lacrosse 18 Arrives on April 17 – New Trailer & More Details Revealed

Crosse Studios and Big Ant Studios have announced Casey Powell Lacrosse 18 will be available as a digital download for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 13.  Building on the successful foundations of the first game, Lacrosse 18 will offer sports fans a dynamic, fast and challenging experience, with all the excitement, speed and big hits of the real-life sport.

The postseason for men’s lacrosse season begins on Friday afternoon, as the No. 7 Siena Saints hit the road to take on the No. 2 Monmouth Hawks in the Quarterfinal Round of the 2021 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship at 3 p.m.

Seven teams will compete for the MAAC title, including No. 1 seed Manhattan plus the six teams playing in the quarterfinal round on Friday. Monmouth hosts Siena, St. Bonaventure entertains Detroit Mercy and Canisius welcomes Marist.
 
This will be the eighth overall meeting between the Hawks and Saints, with Monmouth owning the 6-1 advantage. This will be the first postseason matchup between the two programs. Siena hasn’t appeared in the postseason since 2014, when the Saints would win the whole thing by defeating No. 2 Marist for MAAC title to advance to the NCAA Tournament.
 
The Siena Men’s Lacrosse team had three student athletes selected on All-MAAC teams on Wednesday morning, represented by fifth year Dylan Pantalone on the All-MAAC First Team Midfielder, senior Jack Kiernan on All-MAAC Second Team Attack, and freshman Trevor Marsala on the MAAC All-Rookie Team.
 
In addition to the accolades, the Saints had 19 student athletes make the MAAC All-Academic Team – Cole Allen, Nick Casner, Jack Cheney, Sam DiChristina, Mitch Fanning, Brett Habich, Colton Hart, Luke Julien, Chris Kiely, Braedon LaBar, Dan Maloney, Brandon Meir, Tyler Menniti, Hunter Pemrick, George Rusnak, Anthony Tebbano, Maurice Tessier, Seth Van Schepen, and Christopher Yanchoris.
 
The last time these two teams met back on Mar. 13, junior goaltender Christopher Yanchoris had himself a career day. He would make 26 saves in what became a tightly contested 7-6 overtime loss to the Hawks. That mark would be the highest save total in an NCAA Division I single game since 2019, and would be only the third time since 2015 that a goalie in NCAA Division I game reached the 26-save plateau.
 
That mark would be a new career high for Yanchoris, as he faced a total 51 shots on the day, with 33 coming on cage. On the field, both Jack Kiernan and Dylan Pantalone each collected three points apiece on two goals and an assist each. Colin Gleason and Seth Van Schepen would chip in the other goals for Siena. Kiernan, Colton Hart, and Trevor Marsala each added four ground balls apiece as well.
 
Monmouth is making its fifth appearance in the MAAC Tournament and the first since 2018. The Hawks are 2-3 all-time, including 0-1 at Kessler Stadium. The Hawks won their lone conference title in 2017 and are looking to make their second NCAA Tournament appearance. 2021 is the first year that the MAAC Tournament features a quarterfinal round game. Monmouth went 5-2 overall during the regular season, including a 4-2 record in conference play to earn a share of the regular season title. It was Monmouth’s second MAAC Regular Season Championship, with the other coming during the Hawks’ historic 2017 season. The Hawks went 4-0 at home during the year, including wins over Manhattan, St. Bonaventure and Detroit Mercy.

In the context of an Australian release, a lacrosse videogame is the very definition of a niche title. Developed by Big Ant who is better known locally for their cricket and rugby league titles, Casey Powell Lacrosse 18 is the studio’s second attempt at tackling a sport most Aussies would only be familiar with because of a few scenes from the first American Pie film.

After booting up Casey Powell Lacrosse 18, I did what I always do when feeling a bit out of my depth with a particular title – I looked for a training mode to kick things off and get me comfortable with the controls. While these were displayed during loading screens and in the options menu, there was nary a tutorial proper in sight, an omission which left me struggling for my first few matches. Spending some time in the Practice Mode helped, but it is largely limited to developing an offensive game and doesn’t provide scenarios to work on defense, which is something I continued to struggle with as I delved deeper into the Career Mode. Even with more hours under my belt, I still lacked a good grasp of potential plays that could be executed. Worse still, many of the defensive moves are contextual and require careful positioning of the player character to execute, forcing me to spend time in Quick Matches practising these skills to improve. An additional defensive focused mode would be a welcome addition to any future entries barring a dedicated set of tutorials designed for newcomers like myself; as it is, CPL18 does not suffer outsiders and will require a measure of effort on the part of the player to enjoy what it has to offer.

When it comes to game modes, CPL18 offers what I would consider the standard in sports titles these days – a barebones Career Mode which can be played as either a player or coach, Quick Match and Multiplayer. I say barebones because it lacks the sophistication players may have come to expect from other sports titles – that said, EA – a large studio with the budget and licensing to go with it – were guilty of similar issues in UFC 18. Speaking of licensing, presumably to keep the production budget at a realistic amount, CPL18 has no licensed teams, stadiums or music along with limited commentary during matches. Personally, I didn’t find any of these omissions affecting my enjoyment of the game but fans of lacrosse will be relieved to know that, much like Pro Evo Soccer, a robust character creator and a dedicated community have combined to allow custom roster updates bringing teams and character models closer to the real deal.

CPL18 is obviously a title that Big Ant can build upon year over year if it sells well enough to bother with such an investment. I’m hoping that in the future, it can begin to set itself apart in such a way that would attract a wider audience. While I’m no doubt revealing a large amount of ignorance regarding the technical requirements of such a feat, I did have one feature I’d love to see offered; a 3^rdperson Over the Shoulder camera angle for the Career Mode. It might sound ridiculous, but I can’t shake the idea that this could be a viable and fairly unique and immersive way to play this game, as well as something that would further set it apart from other titles in the sports genre.

Casey Powell Lacrosse 18 is a serviceable title working with a limited budget for a niche audience. While I could call it out for many faults compared to competitors working with much larger budgets and licenses, it’s hard to get very worked up about it given I’m not the target audience. That said, for lacrosse fans both here in Australia and overseas, it really is a choice between this and, well… nothing. Unless 2K or EA make a move on the sport, Casey Powell Lacrosse 18is the best lacrosse videogame on the market – at least until the next entry.

Xbox One S Review: White, Thin, 4K and Totally Pointless

But unlike Sony with its PlayStation 4, in the case of Microsoft it always seemed that the company was planning the Xbox One as a gateway to its software and services designed for the living room.It doesn’t matter if you position this system as a universal media box or as the best platform for exclusive console games. 4K: Reason to Buy Xbox One S

And as you move through each individual panel, other minor annoying factors arise. They stem from the legacy user interface design: when the Xbox One first came out, the console was marketed as a living room entertainment device.
