What channel is the MLB All-Star Game on today? Time, lineups for 2021 AL vs. NL game
His performance in Monday night’s Home Run Derby might have disappointed some fans, but Angels star Shohei Ohtani has another chance to thrill them in Colorado on Tuesday.
Ohtani will be the starting pitcher for the American League in the 2021 MLB All-Star Game. Oh yeah, and he’ll also lead off as the team’s designated hitter and get a second chance to hit even after he leaves the game as pitcher.
But the National League shouldn’t be dismissed, as it is bringing plenty of firepower. Max Scherzer will get the start, and 22-year-old shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. will lead off for the NL.
The American League is looking to make it eight straight wins in the All-Star Game, which would be the most since the National League won a record 11 straight from 1972 to 1982. The AL last won seven in a row from 2003 through 2009. The only thing that prevented a 13-year winning streak was a tie in 2002 that followed a five-year run of wins by the AL.
Below is a rundown on how to watch the MLB All-Star Game, plus starting lineups and bench units for both sides.

MLB All-Star Game 2021: How to watch, time, channel, lineups and more
The MLB All-Star Game is back!
After the pandemic caused the event to be canceled last year, the Midsummer Classic returns Tuesday, and for the first time in 23 years, it’s being held at Denver’s Coors Field. Pregame coverage will begin at 7 p.m. ET on FOX.
Here’s everything you should know ahead of the action:
What is the All-Star Game?
It’s the single greatest collection of talent in Major League Baseball.
The game occurs annually at the midway point of the MLB season, as the best players from the American League and National League compete against one another.
How does it work?
Each team consists of 34 players. The starting position players for each team are voted in by the fans, and the pitchers (eight) and one backup player for each position are voted on by the players. The managers fill out the rest of the rosters.
The managers for the AL and NL All-Star teams are the managers of the clubs that reached the World Series the season prior. That means Kevin Cash of the Tampa Bay Rays and Dave Roberts of the Los Angeles Dodgers are the managers this year, marking Roberts’ third straight All-Star Game as NL manager.
Who are the starters for the All-Star Game?
For the National League, the starting lineup is:
– Fernando Tatis Jr., SS (Padres)
– Max Muncy, DH (Dodgers)
– Nolan Arenado, 3B (Cardinals)
– Freddie Freeman, 1B (Braves)
– Nick Castellanos, RF (Reds)
– Jesse Winker, LF (Reds)
– *J.T. Realmuto, C (Phillies)
– *Bryan Reynolds, CF (Pirates)
– Adam Frazier, 2B (Pirates)
*Realmuto and Reynolds were replacements for starters Buster Posey and Ronald Acuña Jr., who are both currently on the injured list.
And for the American League:
– Shohei Ohtani, DH (Angels)
– Vladimir Guerrero Jr., 1B (Blue Jays)
– Xander Bogaerts, SS (Red Sox)
– Aaron Judge, RF (Yankees)
– Rafael Devers, 3B (Red Sox)
– Marcus Semien, 2B (Blue Jays)
– Salvador Perez, C (Royals)
– Teoscar Hernández, LF (Blue Jays)
– Cedric Mullins, CF (Orioles)*
*Mullins was an injury replacement for Mike Trout, who has been out since May 17 due to a right calf strain.
On the mound to start, it’ll be a matchup between two-way star Ohtani and longtime Nationals ace Max Scherzer.
The full American and National League rosters, including pitchers and reserves, can be found here.
Which players should I keep an eye on?
Ohtani is set to become the first player in baseball history to hit and pitch in the All-Star Game, so it is fair to assume that all eyes will be on him Tuesday — including those of the other players. Through games Sunday, Ohtani led the majors with 33 home runs and sported a 3.49 ERA on the mound.
On Monday at All-Star media day, Ben Verlander talked to MLB players about Shohei Ohtani’s amazing first half of the season. Hear just how blown away Ohtani’s peers have been by his performance.
Also, veteran Kansas City backstop Perez will make his seventh appearance – and sixth start – as the American League catcher. Perez will be the Royals’ only representative in Denver.
Guerrero and Tatis are definitely worth monitoring as well. A pair of rising young stars in the game, they entered games Sunday tied for second in the majors in home runs, with 28.
Ben Verlander chats with San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. about being the face of MLB and what has caught his attention this season.
Unfortunately for the sport, the other young star who was set to start for the NL, Acuña, will miss the festivities after tearing his right ACL on Saturday. He will need surgery to repair his knee and has been ruled out for the remainder of the MLB season.
Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman tells Ken Rosenthal why it will be so hard to replace Ronald Acuña Jr., who is out for the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL.
Which team is the favorite?
The American League is on a seven-game winning streak, but the National League has kept it competitive overall, trailing only 45-43-2 all-time.
Plus, while the AL might have the greatest singular talent in the sport with Ohtani, the NL can claim four of the five ERA leaders among starting pitchers, with Jacob deGrom, Kevin Gausman, Brandon Woodruff and Zack Wheeler.
Where can I watch?
The MLB All-Star Game will air at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday on FOX.
And if you missed the Home Run Derby on Monday, check out the highlights below.
Ben Verlander was at field level at the 2021 Home Run Derby moments after Pete Alonso took home his second straight title. Ben describes the electric atmosphere in Denver, where Shohei Ohtani, Alonso and others put their offensive skills on display.

Start time, players, how to watch and stream
The MLB All-Star Game is back after a one-year hiatus because of the coronavirus pandemic last season, and it’s being ushered in with a bit of history, thanks to breakout star Shohei Ohtani.
The Los Angeles Angels phenom is the first player in MLB history named as an All-Star as both a position player and a pitcher. There were a number of two-way players in the Negro Leagues that most certainly would have been All-Stars had they been allowed to play in the majors, including three Hall of Famers: “Bullet Joe” Rogan, Martín Dihigo, and Leon Day.
Ohtani will get the start for the American League, and will face off against Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer, who edged out Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler as the National League’s starter. Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto is also on the National League’s All-Star roster as a reserve player.

Calling this year’s Midsummer Classic for FOX is longtime announcer Joe Buck, who is hated by many Philadelphia sports fans for various reasons even though his stat guy grew up in Roxborough and graduated from Villanova. It’s Buck’s 22nd time calling the All-Star Game, alongside Hall of Fame pitcher John Smoltz for the fifth straight season.
Buck and Smoltz will interview Ohtani midgame through a translator, one day after ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith was forced to apologize for saying the star’s language skills are a hindrance to the league’s popularity.
FOX Sports is also looking to juice up its broadcast with tech upgrades, including broadcasting the All-Star Game for the first time in 4K. FOX is also deploying a pair of the “Megalodon” cameras that drew praise from fans and critics during the NFL season.
As far as TV ratings, FOX is hoping for a turnaround from 2019, when the broadcast drew an estimated 8.14 million viewers, the lowest audience ever for the All-Star Game. According to Sports Media Watch, the event has set record low TV audience ratings in seven of the last ten seasons.

2021 MLB All-Star Game In Denver: Live Updates, Score, Photos And More
5:16 p.m. Baseball fans from all over
Vic Vela/CPR NewsJaime Santiago wears a big chain showing his love for the San Diego Padres while he waits for the MLB All-Star Game to start on July 13, 2021.
Jaime Santiago came to Denver for the All-Star Game from San Diego.
He said he’s found Denver to be a very hospitable place to everyone, including to a fan of a division rival.
Santiago roots for the San Diego Padres.
He said he’s here for the camaraderie of the game, no matter who a fan supports.
“It’s not about the Padres,” Santiago said. “It’s not about San Diego or nothing,” Santiago said.
Because of the Padres’ success this year, some have said maybe he’s a bandwagon fan, but no, Santiago says, he’s been supporting them since the early 1980s. And he has the tattoos to prove he’s a real fan.
“I flew out here and there’s baseball fans from everywhere and I love it. I’m taking pictures with Dodgers fans, I’m taking pictures with Padres, Orioles, every team. I love it.”

4:55 p.m. Inside Coors Field, we met this couple who got engaged at Coors Field 10 years ago
Vic Vela/CPR NewsLandon Malave and his wife Megan Malave got engaged at a Colorado Rockies game in 2011. They’re regulars at the Rockies and were at Coors Field for the MLB All-Star Game on July 13, 2021.
Landon Malave proposed to his wife Megan Malave at Coors Field 10 years ago. The couple, who live near Colorado Springs, are regulars at the Colorado Rockies, and Tuesday they were inside Coors Field getting ready for the MLB All-Star Game.
Landon said that day was anxious. Megan said they were running late. It was her birthday. Inside about 35 people they knew were waiting for them to get engaged.
They made it, and then later with an assist from the big screen, Landon popped the question.
“It was pretty crazy,” Landon said. “We’d come to 16 games a year. I knew that’s where I wanted to do it at. And so, I had a bunch of family come here. She had no idea, and … her dad tapped her on the shoulder, and I got on one knee, and asked her to marry me.”
Landon said both of them love baseball, and it was important for them to get engaged at Coors Field. On All-Star Tuesday, the couple were sporting their Rockies jerseys, Landon in a Nolan Arenado one and Megan in a Todd Helton one from the team’s 2007 World Series run.
“We both love baseball. It was one thing we really have in common,” he said. “It was a pretty big deal to ask her here.”

4:37 p.m. Sometimes we get interviewed too.
Kevin J. Beaty/DenveriteCPR health reporter John Daley interviews and gets interviewed by a CBD “chew” representative known only as Oscar outside Coors Field before the MLB All-Star Game on July 13, 2021.
As journalists, we are usually the ones doing the interviewing, but sometimes the tables get turned.
CPR health reporter John Daley found that out today when he was trying to interview a peddler of CBD “chew” to passersby near Coors Field this afternoon. A man known only by the name Oscar — he declined to give his last name — decided he wanted to try to interview John for a video he was making with a colleague.
“What are you most excited about this weekend?” Oscar asked.
“You know, I’m just doing my job, interviewing people, for Colorado Public Radio,” Daley said, adding that he was, in fact, not attending tonight’s All-Star Game.
Oscar said he was trying to give 3,000 cans of their smokeless cannabis product away to people around the stadium this week. Baseball players, Oscar said, are a big target for their product.
“We’re helping guys get off [tobacco] chew,” he said. “It’s huge, it’s a movement.”

4:18 p.m. No words, just birds
Kevin J. Beaty/DenveriteRobert Marmarosa and Big Bird and Dino travel to events all over the country. On Tuesday, July 13, 2021, they were outside Coors Field waiting for the start of the MLB All-Star Game. “We only do fun stuff,” Marmarosa said.
3:58 p.m. Colorado’s ‘coming out party’ after COVID-19
There aren’t a lot of people in masks out here. For some, that could be scary, but for others, they are excited to be in crowds again.
It’s Scott Griffith’s second All-Star Game. The Erie resident went to the 1978 game in Cleveland with his dad when he was 8. This time around, he brought his daughter.
Griffith is from Ohio, but teaches in social studies and culinary arts in Boulder. He’s trying to get to all the Major League ballparks in the nation. He says he and his daughter have been to about 10 so far.
Griffith said he has been vaccinated and doesn’t hesitate to be out in public.
“I’m very excited to be here. It just feels like a coming out party in terms of being around people,” he said. “We all share the love of baseball, and we’re all here to kind of come back together as a community.”

3:50 p.m. The crowds, the crowds!
For anyone, like me, who has spent the last 16 months trying like heck to stay out of crowds like this, the next three pictures Kevin J. Beaty sent along might be a little jarring. The crowds are gathering to be let in to Coors Field, and we’re still about 2 hours away from first pitch.
There are rainclouds (mixed with a haze of wildfire smoke) to the west and I’m sure most people are asking themselves if they’re going to get rained on. I wonder how it’s affected the ticket resellers’ prices.

3:37 p.m. A small contingent of protesters say Trump won the election
Kevin J. Beaty/DenveriteProtesters gather near Coors Field where the MLB All-Star game is being held in LoDo in Denver on July 13, 2021.
Protests sometimes happen at big sporting events. Often, actually. So it probably wasn’t a big surprise to see a contingent of people protesting the outcome of the 2020 presidential election show up.
Kelly Johnson, of Orange County, California, said he came to Denver for the festivities to protest against the Major League Baseball decision to move the game from Atlanta to Denver. He held a Trump flag as he spoke.
“Anyone who supports baseball supports voter fraud,” he said.

3:15p.m. Still want to go to the game? It’ll cost you
A ticket, ahem, reseller, who didn’t want to give their name said tickets to the sold-out All-Star game are going for $225-$275 each, depending on the location inside Coors Field.
Right now, the lowest-priced tickets on ticket reselling site Stubhub are going for $190 each, in the Rockpile bleachers in center field.

2:13 p.m. MLB’s best kept secret?
Kevin J. Beaty/Denverite
Alan O’Hashi is a volunteer at National Baseball Park Museum. He has a secret about the museum, and it’s only $10 to get in.
“It turns out this museum is the best-kept secret in Major League Baseball,” O’Hashi said. He said he worked on a program about a year ago with the museum on Japanese baseball history and has been a volunteer there ever since. “You just get into a place and it just kind of gets into your blood.”
O’Hashi said all eyes during the All-Star week are rightly on Shohei Ohtani, a Japanese pitcher who plays for the Los Angeles Angels and leads the majors with 33 home runs at the all-star break.
“He is known to be the sort of the Babe Ruth of the modern times, because he pitches as well as … hits,” O’Hashi said. “There have been smattering of Japanese players over the years, but, I would say, because of the importance of the news media and social media, Ohtani has definitely risen well above other Japanese players who have played in the country. And for good reason, he’s a really good baseball player.”

2:07 p.m. DINGER HAS BEEN SIGHTED. THIS IS NOT A TEST!
Kevin J. Beaty/DenveriteColorado Rockies mascot dinger greets fans outside Coors Field on July 13, 2021.
Maybe Dinger should get out of the street though, he’s blocking traffic on 20th Street.
1:37 p.m. Food vendors getting ready for big crowds, and to get back to work
Kevin J. Beaty/DenveriteKristin Moffett sells water, peanuts, sunflower seeds and other food to people around Coors Field on Tuesday afternoon, July 13, 2021.
The return of crowds to LoDo doesn’t just have sports fans rejoicing, vendors who sell to them are also extremely happy to welcome crowds back to Coors Field.
Kristin Moffett is a Denver native. She sells peanuts and sunflower seeds as well as water and Gatorade to people who go to Rockies games. (“Hoping to save them a little money while we are making a little money as well,” Moffett said.) She was outside Coors Field Tuesday afternoon selling her wares.
“Even though I am on the outside of the stadium, I still feel like I am part of the All-Star festivities,” she said. “It’s been really fun, it’s a lot of work, it’s been really hot, but we’ve also met a lot of cool people.”
Moffett said the pandemic made it difficult to stay afloat.
“Luckily we have good friends and family that helped us just get through,” Moffett said. “They helped us get through that year where there was no Rockies, there’s nothing we could do about it, we had to just figure it out.”

12:53 p.m.: Play Ball Park attracting tons of visitors
We’re just a few hours from first pitch, and lots of people are starting to gather in and around Coors Field in LoDo. One of the most popular attractions so far has been MLB’s Play Ball Park at the Colorado Convention Center in Downtown Denver. The center has attracted thousands of people since late last week to its indoor and outdoor attractions.
Denverite photographer Kevin Beaty sends these photos from this morning at the park.

Channel: Chicken Curry
Number of subscribers: 2.5 million
Estimated ad revenue: $ $ 1,130,000
Alexander Gudkov’s Chicken Curry channel hosts, by his own definition, “phenomenal shows”.The most popular of them is Comment Out with presenter Vladimir Marconi, where guest stars are required to write random comments, often offensive, on Instagram to domestic celebrities or, in case of refusal to do so, to carry out punishments. Jokes on the verge of a foul are not to the taste of all advertisers: after TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak, as a punishment, published on her Instagram a symbol of solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement (black square) to the song “They killed a black man”, the contract with her was defiantly terminated by the automaker Audi …In September, several advertisers, including Unilever, announced the termination of cooperation with Chicken Curry itself. The reason for this was the resonant jokes about the protests in Khabarovsk and Belarus in one of the episodes of the show.

Today, July 17 in Svetlogorsk, the prizes of the music festival” Voting KiViN 2021 “will be drawn. 16 teams will take part in the game. 22 teams applied for participation in the competition program. In preparation for the gala concert, the list of participants was initially reduced by 5 teams, and after the dress rehearsal – 1 more team.
Alexander Vasilievich on stage. We begin!
Festival jury:
Alla Mikheeva
Alexander Panayotov
Sergey Svetlakov
Natalya Ishchenko
Evgeniy Grishkovets
The first team of the festival – “No longer children” , Svetly, Kaliningrad region
The scheme of this team is clear – adults and children, local news and the mayor of the city.
They start with a song about “dad can”, and if he can’t, he can buy it.
We are the team that we came up with as a prom number.
– Now your dad will show you something interesting!
– Oh guys, let’s get out of here, he will smoke eel now.
This is the mayor – Dmitry Uspensky.
– (kid) And I voted for him!
– And I asked not to tell anyone about this.
Mayor: They say about me that I only dance on the first channel.
This is not true.I also rap.
It doesn’t matter to us what kind of kiwin they give us – for us everyone will be in the Light.
(kid) Anyone will be big for me.
Great opening of the festival!
“Pal Palych”, Khabarovsk Territory
We will do what no team in Svetlogorsk did – we will praise Poland.
Shows of all team members: Katya, Andrey – a demo version of sex, which can be found on the coat of arms of Svetlogorsk.
They are showing the musical show “Musical PalPalych”: in it we are looking for who is to blame – of course “bilaaaaan!”; and watch a show of parodies of
jury from Andrey. Alla Mikheeva is the best.
Sad music started playing, which means it’s time to talk about how Khabarovsk residents love Svetlogorsk. For this we call mom.
We went very well.
YRA, Synergy University team, Moscow
From the beginning we find out who lives in the houses around Yantar Hall – most often they are Muscovites.
Gar explains to young people who Grishkovets is?
They find out if Cherchesov lost euros if he has a salary of 2 million.
Big number about the dance group of Oleg Gazmanov
– Here Kant died!
– So they said, get vaccinated, wear masks!
Gar finds out what topics to joke on: the sea is warm, he knows who Panayotov is. He even knows too much about Panayotov.
A song about Russian power (with a military chorus) and Ilyusha, who will smooth everything out – Russia has just begun to put up with everyone.
The team is in Svetlogorsk for the second time. And I really want to take away from here something not made of amber.
“Red Fox”, Vladivostok
– Roma, what’s this?
– Non-freezing
– Why half-empty?
– Frozen.
Karapuli alternate with Roma humiliation in turn of all team members – both Vita and Asian Roma get it.
Don’t pay attention to Vitya. He has grief in his family – his mother gave birth to a fuck.
Regular moments of national hostility in the team:
Roma: I’ll stab you with your sharp carrot!
Roma dressed as a Kuban Cossack and approaching the jury: Chooses with whom of the jury members Roma can have a holiday romance.
Roma: I need a status woman – an ordinary woman will not feed me.
– I know myself, a girl will fall in love, and I will use it. Will get drunk, they will stop inviting her to the jury. I know – I have only a Cossack costume left from the past.
“Such a story”, OSU named after I.S. Turgenev, Oryol
Kvnschiki at the festival are like gypsies – they sing and dance in front of wealthy people and all dream of gold as one.
Subject number about the love of the governor’s daughter and a gypsy.
Cranes fly not to the south, but to the north – they are flying around Belarus.
– And what are you so happy, as if you managed to fly to rest without vaccination?
– Is that the number of the “Red Fox”?
– We are gypsies – we don’t care what to steal.
Topical jokes alternate in this issue – vaccines, corruption and historical outline. And great vocals. The vocals of the team are amazing.
Finale with vocal and dance “kalinka-malinka” and the audience likes it all.
“Severyane”, Nyagan
Northerners with a well-known scheme: explain who they are Northerners and show a musical show.
Svetlogorsk is a very expensive city. What are you doing here, Olympics?
– This is a music festival. Why aren’t you singing?
– And we have no vote
– What are we – Belarusians?
– Shut up!
– Likely Belarusians …
They say that the wailing kivin and the Nyagan canteen have in common with Nyagan and Italy.
– I have a song about Alexander Vasilyevich.
– Sing!
– You want to win, don’t you? Then I will not sing.
They say what the mayor allowed them to do if they win the kiwin. The guys asked one of the jury members to help them sing and tell
why this particular person.
Music “Svetlogoorskoe show”, traditional for the team:
– Have not lost weight by the summer – wear a pair.
– Our beach is really a scourge.
Asynchronous exit of the champions of Nyagan in asynchronous swimming and another asynchronous team of the football club “Baltika”.
– Why do we need football players and synchronized swimmers? Because only against their background the jury will understand that we are talented.
Nyagan just went fine. We went into a standing ovation.
“City N”, Chelyabinsk
Hello, the city of Kant, Hoffmann and Miramistin! Before you are people who have not read either Kant, or Hoffmann, or the instructions for Miramistin.
Anton, stop making faces in front of Kaliningraders, you are 34 years old – you are good for them as governors.
– Here the kent died!
– Anton, Kant!
– My Kent Seryoga. We are with him in the 90s …
Finale with a beautifully sung song about amber to the tune of “Barcelona”. Sung excellently.
“Doctor House”, Mogilev
Rauschen, meet people from Beloraushen.
They compare excursions around Mogilev and around Svetlogorsk, singing songs about state employees and about vaccines.
Big block about the “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk” competition and its main participant – Alexander Grigorievich.
– It’s a pity that Lithuanians don’t follow the bazaar.
– For Slavic?
– For their own.
The guys definitely need a kiwin, because a bird is the only way to fly to Belarus.
“Armenian national team”, Moscow
Song “Armenians” to the tune of East17 “it’s alright”. There is also a traditional scheme here: jokes and karapuli about Armenians and Natasha’s exit with intolerant songs.
– Yesterday I saw you swimming in the Black Sea.
– It is Baltic.
– But when you swim, it is black.
– We will travel!
Natasha: Then I will be your go-to operator
Armenia sold the word “cognac” to the French for 3 million euros. A lot of suffering and worries from the cognac itself about this.
– If we win a kiwin, we will recruit you after the game.
– If you don’t win, I’ll find you myself!
And the finest song “The Last Poem” from “You Never Dreamed of” in which half of the parterre takes part – of course, local Armenians are sitting in it.
IP Bondarev, Nadym, YNAO
We pretend that we are a KVN team to sell toilets, and you pretend that you are a resort to sell amber.
Denis Denisych: I was on a nudist beach yesterday.
Andreevich: Nudist is when everyone is without panties, and not just you.
Tackles to the director from Pasha, tackles of the director to Arina and the banter of a bodyguard over his master.
Denis Denisych has an ingenious plan to get rich: toilets from IP Bondarev will appear on the beaches of Svetlogorsk.
Ice show “holiday season in Svetlogorsk” – a large number with ice skating.
– A song about the fate of a Russian Ipshnik.
– Sad?
– Well, I’m talking about a Russian IP specialist.
Song about Denis Denisych’s path in business. You can’t sing part of the song there – the case is not closed yet. And there is a forest and a shovel. What Andreich reminds the jury of.
“G-Drive”, RF
Dance specially for Natalia Ischenko – lying down.
Natalia lives in Kaliningrad. And in our country, everything that swims quickly and flies out synchronously is in Kaliningrad.
Natalya Ishchenko can hold her breath for three minutes – she can see all the sights of Svetlogorsk without breathing.
Team Director Oksana Petrovna got to Svetlogorsk by swimming and will now swim to the jury to suggest which kiwin to give the team.
Dance and song of Plavylaguna on the theme of housing and communal services and Ivan Stepanov as a football player of the Baltika club. This is a great team for the festival – they sing, dance, get high, joke
The audience is satisfied
“Peninsula”, KFU, Simferopol
The team compares the rest in Crimea and in Svetlogorsk.
Why did you pull us out at the height of the holiday season? You understand that there are now 6 thousand people left without service /
We decided to take the festival to ourselves – here they do not know how to use it. The festival should advertise the region, and teams come here and joke how bad it is.
Kaliningrad is surrounded by quiet and peaceful neighbors. It’s nice that they are quiet. It’s unpleasant to be surrounded.
– It’s a pity that Alexander Vasilyevich has a lever that opens the hatch below you in the scene.
– Maybe eat.
– Maybe he is, only he is waiting for the dogs to get hungry.
And a big issue about the editorial office of the Kaliningrad publishing house:
The children’s poet Chukovsky proposes to make Svetlogorsk a children’s resort and reads fables.
And a block on Sergei Svetlakov, who helped the team at previous festivals and will help at this.
“Dew”, NNSU im. Lobachevsky, Nizhny Novgorod
Anya, according to tradition, is not very happy with her teammates and everyone around:
– (Anya) So expensive because the fly is inside!
– Anya, are you selling amber?
– I do not work as a waitress in a cafe.
– (Anya) I was appointed coach of the Russian national football team. You are simply underestimating the despair of the RFU.
– We need one gay in our team!
– And what do you, Anya, suggest?
– Kick out the other two.
– Well, Anya!
– Well, you can contact outside the team
There is also a traditional “Galya” – about a music festival and the fact that the team cannot sing.
Anya sells vaccines like a hawker on the beach:
– Baklava, churchkhela, vi companion!
– I have my own homemade, natural one. Not this chemistry of yours.
– So what, what’s dull, but cold.
And they will finish with a story about Anya’s work in the canteen of the Pension Fund
Very good reaction from the audience and Anya is the heroine of the festival!
Team of the Perm Territory, Perm Territory
Igor Sanych is on vacation and wonders how many people are in the hall:
Youth, follow me.While they are all here, at least we’ll sit down and eat.
Igor wants to relax, so he constantly urges the team on and is even ready to sing for the guys himself.
– Igor Sanych, or you are performing with us now, or we will tell your wife that they are also allowed here without foreign countries!
Igor: Yes, they put a vaccine in my torpedo. Now when I drink my antibodies rise.
Alan was taken to the Svetlogorsk police and Igor finds out what kind of work it is.
– Can I take Ishchenko for half an hour.I have a business proposal in it
– What?
– Well, there people are throwing coins in the sea …
The song of all Russian holidaymakers (for “a million votes” by Gagarina), with the screening of spectators from the audience. – here it is necessary to look.
“Mikhail Dudikov”, NCFU, Stavropol
Stavropol is the land of grain growers. Therefore, the dance of the Kuban buns is twerk.
Gena gives one of the spectators (Yura) his phone number so that he can call him if he doesn’t like something or have questions about the performance.
And rushed to the stories about Svetlogorsk.
Seryozha meets a lady much older than him.
– Where can I find someone of the same age in Svetlogorsk?
– Tom Putin still remembers Yeltsin.
Yura calls Ladoshkin: How do I know why Panayotov is on the jury? Maybe he saved Maslyakov’s life.
A song about the ash submarine and its missiles.
To take the kivin away from Alexander Vasilyevich, they will organize an “auto-fit” for him. Alexander Vasilyevich “knocks down” Serezha in a car, his “traffic cop” runs up, and together they try to find out what the AVM has of value.
– This is a dangerous person, he drives while standing.
The final song about the fact that the main in KVN is the viewer Yura and everyone else.
“Irresistible Joe”, Russia
– Hello, hairy Kivin!
– And hello to you, Yusif!
Blokhin and Herman are fighting:
Vasilkovan: For the first time I see Kim Jong-un’s face quarreling with Kim Jong-un’s body.
– We came to make mandatory vaccination
– Actually, in our country, vaccination is voluntary
– Well, go to your country, why did you come here.
– (Rukhin to Vasilkovan) You look like my mother.
– Well then tell your father that he has great taste.
We have prepared a gift for Ishchenko – wrestling tights, because wrestlers and synchronized swimmers bring the most medals to Russia. Because it’s in Russian – to win when you press.
Once the synchronized swimmer was on the KVN jury, then the KVN athletes went to synchronized swimming – a video in which the women’s team of synchronized swimmers competes with the men’s KVN team.
Yusif and Rukhin melted all the team’s kivins into one kivin:
– What kind of absurd monster?
– This is Rukhin, it would be worth remembering.
– How did you get the sculptor to do this?
– He did not agree, But we broke his arms and he did this.
In total, the team members have 11 kiwins, Therefore, they decide to show a big number – they collect everything for which their teams were given kiwins – here is playing the invisible guitar from the Fighters, and the dance of the Trans-Baikal Territory, and Anya’s spectacular exit.
Alexander Vasilyevich helps the team to sing the final song, although he did not agree to this. “What’s up?” from “4 Non Blondes” was created for these great vocalists and the final of the competition.
The jury begins to confer, we call the team members to the stage.
Result of the festival:
Small in Dark – “Red Fox”, Vladivostok
Small in Light – “Armenian team”, Moscow
Small in Gold – “Dew”, Nizhny Novgorod
Big in Dark – “Severyane”, Nyagan
Big in Light – “Irresistible Joe”, Russia
Big in Gold – Team of the Perm Territory
Presidential KiViN – “Irresistible Joe”.
And “The Wind of Change”.
Thank you all!

90,000 All Stars Super Bowl 55 – MK In the New World
The prices at which tickets are sold speak volumes.According to the SeatGeek website, the week before the final match, tickets were sold at an average price of $ 11,986, while luxury seats in the final zone were an order of magnitude more expensive – $ 73,839.
Naturally, these are the prices from dealers. The official ticket price for the Super Bowl ranges from $ 950 in the gallery to $ 3,600 in the lower rows. For comparison: the week before Super Bowl 54, tickets from the same dealers cost an average of $ 5,654. Of course, demand creates supply. Because of the pandemic, out of 66 thousand seats at the stadium in Tampa Bay, the NFL authorities allowed to fill a little more than a third – 24 700.Hence the excitement.
At the same time, Super Bowl is one of the highest ratings on American television. Super Bowl 49 has seen the largest number of television viewers so far, with 114.4 million watching the final game of the 2014 season.
Due to the coronavirus epidemic, this record may be broken. As Zhvanetsky said: “What to do if the city is so bored.” Super Bowl 55 will air on CBS this year.
In addition, the spectacular show, which takes place during the break in the middle of the match, adds a considerable share of the rating. As usual, famous musicians perform in the show with a mini-concert program for 30 minutes. The headliner of the jubilee game will be Canadian singer and songwriter, three-time Grammy winner The Weeknd. The game starts at 6:30, so the break starts around 8pm.
The Tampa Bay Buckcans take on last year’s champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. This is the team’s second Super Bowl. The last time the Bakkaners won was in 2002. But this season, the team is played by former New England Patriots quarterback megastar, three-time MVP Tom Brady. This is his 10th Super Bowl, having won six with the Patriots for 20 years. His Majesty Brady, who won the title of G.O.A.T. (greatest of all time – the best player of all time), great experience. The 43-year-old quarterback signed a two-year, $ 50 million deal with Tampa Bay a year ago. The Buccaneers did not miscalculate, without Brady they would not have seen the finale.
The Bucks made two more successful acquisitions this year: running back Leonard Fornett and receiver Antonio Brown. Surely these guys will show themselves in the final.Oh, and this season’s surprise: three-time Vince Lombardi Trophy winner (Super Bowl Trophy), former Patriots tight-end Rob Grankovsky now also plays for Tampa Bay. Grankovsky announced his retirement in 2018, but decided to return and asked Belicek (the legendary coach of the Patriots) to exchange him at Tampa Bay.
Sure, the star squad gives the Buccaneers a good chance of winning, but they’ve already lost to the Chiefs in the regular season. Many experts call that match the Super Bowl preview.
Last year’s Kansas City Chiefs hadn’t made it to the final for a very long time. They have played in the Super Bowl 4 times in total, including the upcoming match. In 1967, they lost the first Super Bowl in NFL history. They then won Super Bowl 4 and have not returned to Olympus for 50 years since.
Quarterback Patrick Machoms – as they say, “the new guy in the village.” And Brady has already said that he doesn’t like fighting him. In the 2017 season, Machoms sat on the bench (he replaced Alex Smith). After the Chiefs traded Smith in 2018 and Machoms got a chance to enter the field, everyone understood: a new star was born! Today, the player has the highest passing rating in NFL history, both in the regular season and in the playoffs. Machoms, MVP of last year’s Super Bowl, may well lead his team to victory again.
At the same time, the Chiefs, in principle, have strong receivers and tight ends, but two players are especially valuable for the team. Receiver Tyric Hill is famous for making touchdowns or gaining yards out of many passes caught.Travis Kelsey holds the title of best tight end (over 1000 yards) for the fifth year in a row.
In terms of coaches, Andy Reed (Chiefs) is the most original strategist to date. No one can repeat his combinations. After losing to the Buccans in Kansas City, rumors circulated that Bruce Erians was not the best coach for Tom Brady. Naturally, both publicly deny this information.
So, we will soon find out who is the strongest. Both teams have chances, but much is unpredictable in football! The main thing is that each team has enough stars who can show a bright game.Well, we stock up on chicken wings, burgers and have fun!
AMERICAN FOOTBALL BRIEF
NFL – National Football League of North America.
Super Bowl – NFL Playoff Finals. The most spectacular event in the New World.
MVP – Most Valuable Player. The best player is determined for the season and in the final game.
G.O.A.T. – Greatest of all time – The best player in the history of the NFL.
QB – Pass Specialist. Team brain: decides who runs where and what does. Has a chip that communicates with the trainer. And all the combinations that the team uses are written on the hand. They say to him: “We are playing the 14th position.” And the quarterback passes it on to the partners.
Line defender – also called front defender. Its main task is to stop someone else’s attack. Usually, the linebacker is a real bishop that covers the center of the field and hunts down opponents.
Runningbek – back running. The players of this position on the field are placed behind the attacking line. Their main task is to set yards in the offensive after receiving the tab from the quarterback.
Receiver (Receiver ) – The offensive player who specializes in receiving passes from the quarterback.
Tight end – located next to the offensive tackle on either side of the offensive line. They can block opposing players or take a pass from the quarterback like receivers and gain yards.
Touchdown – bringing the ball into the opponent’s end zone. The touchdown brings the team 6 points. It can be done either by running into the end zone with the ball, or by giving a pass to a team-mate who is there. After a touchdown, a team can score additional points: with one attempt to kick the ball so that it hits between the posts, – 1 point. Or take a chance and once again deliver the ball to the end zone – 2 points.
Tackle – Blocking an opponent in possession of the ball.
Sax – Blocking the quarterback in possession of the ball until the moment of the throw. Most significant achievement in American football since touchdown.
RULES OF THE GAME
Each team can have 11 people on the field at the same time (substitutions are not limited, and therefore teams of professionals usually enter 53 players for a match). They play an oval leather ball slightly smaller than a rugby ball. The ball is egg-shaped 72×54 cm and weighs 400 grams.
Matches are played on grass or synthetic turf – 120×54 yards (1 yard = 91 cm).At the ends of the playing field, H-shaped gates are installed, the rods of which are located behind the playing field. The width of the gate is 6 meters, the height from the ground to the crossbar is 2.5 m, above the crossbar is at least 3 meters.
The entire length of the field shall be marked with transverse (yard) lines at a distance of 10 yards from each other. They are necessary to determine the distance traveled by the teams from the place where the ball was played to where it was stopped.
The game is started by putting the ball into play (kick-off). The players of one of the teams (which one determines the lot) line up on their 30-yard line, and one of them (the kicker) kicks the ball, trying to send it as far as possible to half of the opponents’ field.
One of the opposing team’s players (called the “reterner”) catches the ball and tries to carry it as far as possible in the opposite direction. At the same time, his teammates help him, pushing rivals away from him (they put a “screen”). The screen can be performed by pushing into the body or throwing under the feet, but grabs, kicks, pushing in the back and tackles from behind or from the side are prohibited.
All players on the team in possession of the ball are called “offense”, all players on the other team are called “defense”.The aim of the attack is to bring the ball into the opponent’s end zone. The goal of the defense is to take the ball away.
90,000 All-Star Game in St. Petersburg. How it was | VTB United League | VTB United League
22:00 We spent an 11-hour online, in which we tried to tell about everything that happened inside “Yubileiny”. If you want to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the All-Star Game again, wind down and re-read again. Thank you all and see you in a year!
21:57 Well that was a cool day! Sergei Karasev dyed his hair blonde, the ASB team beat the VTB Youth League team, and Khimki CEO Pavel Astakhov put Loko (almost) through the president and became the most useful player in the Celebrity Game.We sold all the tickets for the Jubilee Sports Complex, and the whole audience saw Ryan Brockhoff become the League’s best sniper and Frank Elegar the best dunker. Glowing drones flew around the arena. Nando De Colo should have put a buzzer, and Sergio Rodriguez should have put a buzz bitter, but both missed and the Russian Stars team won the All-Star Game. Again. Sergey Karasev scored 29 points, was recognized as the most useful player and received a brand new white UAZ as a gift. It looks like everyone is happy (not sure about De Colo and Rodriguez).
21:53 While the winners are being awarded here and together they are rejoicing at the victory of the Stars of Russia (are you also rejoicing?), Look at how Joaquin Colom was having fun on the site:
Colom throws between his legs and a gorgeous alleyup at Carter! pic.twitter.com/yrbty0dUMo
– Russianplayer (@GolovinDmitriy) February 17, 2018
21:51 Zenit player Evgeny Voronov earned 4 fouls today, but of course it is not his fault.
21:49 New MVP on club Instagram revealed the secret of his new hairstyle:
21:47 Sergey Karasev got into his new car, but did not go to the center of the site. Apparently, he regretted the parquet floor of his native “Jubilee” ?
21:45 MVP of the All-Star Game-2018 – Sergey Karasev! 29 points and 7 assists! UAZ remains in St. Petersburg ?
21: 42 STARS OF RUSSIA WIN! 125: 124! Nando De Colo knocked the ball for 8 seconds, then fired a three-ruble note, but missed, and Sergio Rodriguez, taking a long-range rebound, did not bring victory to the World Stars! This is the ending!
21:40 It is a pity, Anthony was unable to hit the free kick and did not level the score. However, the World Stars only have -1, a timeout and 11.8 seconds to take revenge for last year’s defeat!
21:38 ANTHONY GILL! WITH FOL! ABOVE! THROUGH MONEY!

21:36 Okay, let’s just give Sergey Karasev a UAZ! Zenit’s forward scores 7 points in 2 minutes and actually decides the fate of the match. Or not?
21:34 It has always been interesting how a team with De Colo, Rodriguez, Colom, Clark and Elegar can lose. Now we know – “-9” at the Stars of the World and only 2 minutes left before the final siren.
21:32 As soon as we wrote about the return of intrigue, Kulagin and Karasev made a 7-point spurt – 116: 109.
21:30 So that you understand the seriousness of basketball in the last quarter: Coty Clarke after a goal (by the way, 109: 109) went to beg the referee for a foul. And this only adds a spice to the game!
21:28 Rise of the machines!
21:27 Probably for the first time since the first quarter, the World Stars got close to the opponent at a distance of 2 points – 107: 109.Is that now UAZ can leave Russia?
21:23 Ivan Urgant in time out talks about “Moving up” and then congratulates the widow of coach Kondrashin with a wonderful bouquet of flowers!
21:21 It’s hot! From the outside it seems that the result is not the main thing today, but it is felt that the players of both teams want to win.
21:19 In the fourth quarter, the World Stars reduced the lead to -7 – 96: 103. Are we going to have a tense ending?
21:17 It seems that the VTB League has just done something that was not even at the NBA All-Star Game!
21:13 Have you ever seen a drone light show? We don’t either. And right now, 12 buzzing, glowing basketballs are hovering over the floor!
21:11 Sergey Karasev breaks a hundred for the Stars of Russia! 100: 92 by the end of the third quarter!
21:09 Coty Clarke has personal fans at Yubileiny. This is very cute ?
21:07 “Leg, leg,” says Sergey Monya. But the referee did not break either the authority or even the reproachful glance of the veteran.
21:05 Let us remind you that last year the Stars of Russia beat the Stars of the World – 131: 121.Now 91:79 and another 14 minutes of the match. Will there be a new performance record?
21:02 With this dunk Elegar won the contest:
20:58 The main question of the day: Vorontsevich or Karasev? Who needs UAZ more?
20:55 Drove the third quarter!
20:52 Frank takes home certificate from Under Armor:
20:50 (unofficial) Cody Miller-McIntyre has the best dunk today! Bang!

20:49 What a charismatic Frank Elegar! Put down a powerful dunk and won the slam dunk contest! VTB League has a new champion!
Victory in the Slam Dunk Contest for Loko! Frank Elegar takes home presents from Under Armor ?? # lokonamvz
– Andrey Vedischev (@AndreyVedischev) February 17, 2018
20:47 Tyler didn’t fly over five, but it was cool! We are waiting for the answer from Elegar.
20:45 Honeycutt is up to something: he called five people at once and lines them up under the ring!
20:42 Tyler Honeycutt wasn’t inventing anything supernatural and just pulled in with a quickdraw after bouncing off the shield! Like this! Honeycutt (103 points) and Elegar (110 points) in the final!
20:40 Ike Udano did not succeed in the second attempt, and it is unlikely that the Astana forward will make it to the second round – 93 points in total for two attempts out of 120 possible.
20:38 Frank Elegar flew under the hoop, gave a shot and got good marks for it!
Wow, @lokobasket grabs all the contests. @ RBroekhoff45 is a shooting king, @ Frank_Wriz15 won the slam dunk contest ? pic.twitter.com/fo4GHGT8r9
– Artem Komarov (@art_basket) February 17, 2018
20:37 And this is Tyler Hanikaaaaaaaaaat! The mill and an incredible 59 points from the jury!
20:35 Ike Udano brought the Under Armor logo onto the floor, but did not implement the dunk – the jury gave 43 points in total. It’s a pity, because it worked out during the warm-up.
20:31 First – Frank Elegar! The Loko forward made it only on the third try, so he didn’t get the highest scores – 53.
20:29 Tyler Honeycutt (Khimki), Ike Udano (Astana) and Frank Elegar (Lokomotiv-Kuban) – which one?
Sergey Ivanov, Sergey Kushchenko, Sergey Bazarevich, Sergey Bykov (Yes, 4 Sergey at once) and L’One in the jury of slam-dunks!
20:28 READY FOR A SLAM-DUNK CONTEST?
20:27 It seems that Vorontsevich really wants another UAZ: Sergei has 15 points in half the match! True, Sergei Karasev is already 16 – the CSKA striker needs to shoot even more around the ring!
20:24 The guys from the World Stars team tried very hard and constantly blew up the hall with steep throws, but the Russian Stars are still ahead after 20 minutes of the game – 67:59!
20:19 “The professionals did not give me the ball, and I could not even throw around the ring.Suddenly, after some kind of ricochet, the ball bounced to me, and I scored. Guys, thank you, I will never forget this moment! ” – told the actor from “Quartet I” Rostislav Khait, who took part in the Celebrity Match ?
20:17 Sergio Rodriguez blocked the alley-up from the center of the court (have you ever seen this?), Rushed to someone else’s ring and put the ball in some crazy maneuver! But the Stars of Russia are still ahead – 56:46!
20:14 Nina Poznanskaya passed the blockade of Leningrad, was the captain of the USSR women’s national team, and now accepts congratulations and flowers from the main figures of the VTB United League!
20:13 I wonder how soon the presenters will pick up the voices? A series of dunks in the second quarter, from which the crowded hall just explodes!
20:12 SOLD OUT
20:11 Anthony Giiiiiiiiiil gorgeous completed the alley-up!
20:09 Let’s go to the second quarter!
https: // www.instagram.com/p/BfTiARSH_VI/
20:05 Kristaps seems to have thrown all of his accurate balls in the first round – only 15 points. Congratulations to Ryan Brockhoff, who is officially the best sniper today!
20:04 Ryan Brochkoff managed to start the airball, but at the same time sketched 20 points, repeating his previous result! What will the Latvian show?
. @ RBroekhoff45 just won 3-pt contest and 300,000 rubles (4300 euro) and 2000 liters of car gas.

20:03 In the second round – Janichenox and Brockhoff!
20:02 Latvian sniper Kristaps Janicenoks has issued a ticket to the final in almost half a round. The VEF forward has a record figure today – 21 points! Kristaps beat even Brockhoff!
20:00 Serbian Bulgarian Branko Mirkovic, playing in Kaleva, did not meet the minute and finished the competition with 12 points in the first round!
19:59 Tsmoki-Minsk captain Alexander Kudryavtsev scores 15 points, throwing the last three-pointer literally under the siren!
19:57 Anton Ponkrashov hit almost everything during the warm-up in the morning, but now the Kazan sniper did not fly: only 9 points. This is clearly not enough to go further.
19:55 Here comes Ryan Brockhoff! 20 points for the Loko defender!
19:54 Sergio Rodriguez started slowly but ended up shooting 18 points in the first round! Let’s place our bets, is that enough?
19:51 The best snipers in the league on the court! Sergio Rodriguez (CSKA), Branko Mirkovich (Kalev), Alexander Kudryavtsev (Tsmoki-Minsk), Kristaps Janichenoks (VEF), Ryan Brockhoff (Lokomotiv-Kuban).
19:50 Contests are waiting for us! The first is three-pointers!
19:45 Already 31:23 after the first quarter, the Stars of Russia are ahead! Vorontsevich already has 8 points, Sergey Karasev has 7!
19:42 SUDDENLY teams play super-productive basketball, 24:17 in 7 minutes and a lot of dunks! Just now, here, Cody McIntyre dug from above after a gorgeous throw from the shield performed by Sergio Rodriguez!

19:34 Starting Lineups:
Stars of Russia: Khvostov-Karasev-Dmitry Kulagin-Kurbanov-Vorontsevich;

A touching moment. A really cool initiative.
19:28 Ivan Urgant tortures Basta. He asks if he likes basketball, how much does it cost to rent a studio, introduces him to the CSKA mascot. In general, he does everything so that the spectators at Yubileiny (We have SOLD OUT) do not get bored while the teams warm up and prepare for the match!

After the athletics championship Luzhniki will be closed for reconstruction for the World Cup 2018 football
The 2013 World Championships in Athletics, which starts in Moscow a week later, on August 10, for various reasons, has lost a number of the world’s leading athletes over the past few months.
Jamaican sprinter, reigning 100m world champion Johan Blake, high jumper, two-time world champion Blanca Vlasic from Croatia, London Olympic champion in the heptathlon Jessica Ennis from Great Britain, Chinese hurdler, Olympic champion Beijing 2008, Chinese Liu Xiang, reigning Olympic champion and 800m world champion David Rudisha from Kenya.
In 2013, the three-time world champion, American sprinter Tyson Gay, Olympic champion in Beijing 2008, ex-world record holder in the 100-meter race Asafa Powell from Jamaica, two of his compatriots – also Olympic champions in the sprint – Veronica were convicted of doping in 2013 Campbell Brown and Sharon Simpson.
However, most of the world athletics stars, including Russian Olympic champions of different years, will nevertheless perform at Luzhniki at the first world championship after the London Games.
The BBC Russian Service presents the most titled participants of the 2013 World Cup in alphabetical order.
Maria Abakumova (Russia)
Discipline : Javelin throw
Date of birth : January 15, 1986, Stavropol
Achievements : World champion (2011), silver medalist of the Olympic Games …
Interesting facts : Since last fall, Abakumova and her spear thrower husband Dmitry Tarabin began training under the guidance of the Estonian specialist Heino Puusto, who was the USSR record holder and trained the 2005 world champion Andrus Wernik.
Commentary : One of the most exciting duels in Moscow was promised by the confrontation between Abakumova and two-time Olympic champion Barbora Shpotakova from the Czech Republic, but after the victory in London Shpotakov, coached by the world record holder among men Jan Zelezny, decided to take a break in her career in May gave birth to a son.Two years ago, in the Korean Daegu Abakumova managed to get ahead of Shpotakova and win with a new world championship record – 71.99 m. However, the world record – 29 cm higher – still belongs to the Czech athlete. At the Games in London, Abakumova unexpectedly showed only the tenth result. Abakumova’s main rivals in the absence of Shpotakova will be the second and third at the Olympics German women Christina Obergfell and Linda Stahl, respectively.
Usain Bolt (Jamaica)
Discipline : running 100 and 200 meters
Date of birth : 21 August 1986 Trelawny
Achievements : Six-time Olympic champion (2008, 2012) world champion (2009, 2011).
Interesting Facts : Bolt, nicknamed “Lightning”, is the first person in athletics history to set three world records in one Olympics (Beijing 2008), as well as the first sprinter to win 100 and 200 meters at two Games in a row.
Commentary : For all his accomplishments, the 26-year-old Jamaican athlete is not the reigning world champion in the 100 meter race, the most popular type of athletics program. In 2011, in Korean Daegu, Bolt was disqualified due to a false start, falling victim to new rules according to which an athlete guilty of a false start is automatically removed from the race. Previously, a similar offense was punishable by disqualification only if it was committed twice. As a result, Bolt’s compatriot Johan Blake became the world champion, who then became the silver medalist at the London Olympics both in the 100 meters running and at the distance twice as long. However, Blake will not be able to defend the world title in Moscow due to injury, so it seems that only a false start can prevent Bolt from winning the next gold medals.
Yuri Borzakovsky (Russia)
Discipline : 800 meter race
Date of birth : April 12, 1981, Kratovo
Achievements : Olympic champion (2004), world indoor champion ( 2001), European champion (2012).
Interesting facts : Borzakovsky is the only Olympic champion in running disciplines among men in the modern history of Russia. The Russian won the 2004 Olympics in his crown style, starting the attack from the last position closer to the finish line.
Commentary : Yuri Borzakovsky won medals at four world championships, but so far not a single gold medal. In Paris-2003 and Helsinki-2005, the Russian became a bronze medalist, and in Osaka-2007 and Daegu-2011 – a silver one. The “home” world championship will almost certainly be the final in the career of Borzakovsky, who confidently won the Russian championship for the seventh time in his career on July 25. The absence of the reigning world champion and Olympic champion David Rudishi from Kenya in Luzhniki gives approximately equal chances of winning to a number of remote controllers, among whom, undoubtedly, Borzakovsky, who wants to slam the door loudly, as well as Americans Duane Solomon and Nick Simmonds, Sudanese Abubaker Kaki, silver medalist of London -2012 Nigel Amos from Botswana and Games bronze medalist Timothy Kitum from Kenya.
Kirani James (Grenada)
Discipline : Running 400 meters
Date of birth : September 1, 1992, Guiave
Achievements : Olympic champion (2012), world champion (2011).
Interesting facts : 20-year-old runner James is not only the first Olympic champion in the history of Grenada, but also the only Olympic medalist among athletes of the island state located in the southeastern Caribbean (the National Olympic Committee of Grenada was formed in 1984 ).
Commentary : At the 2011 World Championships, the very young Kirani James beat not just anyone, but returned to the treadmill after the disqualification of the 2008 Olympic champion, American Lashone Merritt. A repetition of the duel between James and Merritt in London did not take place – the American withdrew from the competition during qualifying. A few weeks before the 2012 Games, Merritt injured his Achilles tendon at a competition in Monaca before he could recover for the main start of the season.Vice-President of the International Athletics Federation, Lord Sebastian Coe, said he expects an “outstanding battle” in Moscow from James and Merritt, who own the top ten results of the season in this discipline.
Tirunesh Dibaba (Ethiopia)
Discipline : Running 5000 and 10000 meters
Date of birth : June 1, 1985, Bekoji
Achievements : Three-time champion, 2012 Olympic world champion (2004, 2008, 2012).
Interesting Facts : Dibaba grew up in the highlands of Arsi, started athletics at the age of 14 and in 2000 moved to the capital of the country, Addis Ababa. Her brother, two sisters and her husband, two-time Olympic vice-champion, Sileshi Sihine, also perform on the international stage.
Commentary : Tirunesh Dibaba won three of the four 5 and 10 km long distance races in the last two Olympic Games. At the longest distance, she excelled both in Beijing and London, and at a distance of two times less – only in Beijing. In London, Dibaba was overtaken by another eminent representative of Ethiopian sports, Meseret Defar, who won her second “gold” in her career after Athens-2004. In short, the hegemony of athletes from Ethiopia in stayer disciplines is still ongoing – the duel between Dibaba and Defar is expected in Moscow as well. It is difficult to imagine who will be able to challenge them at the 2013 World Cup.
Elena Isinbaeva (Russia)
Discipline : Pole vaulting
Date of birth : June 3, 1982, Volgograd
Achievements : Two-time Olympic champion, two-time world champion (2004, 2008 2005, 2007), four-time world champion indoors (2004, 2006, 2008, 2011).
Interesting facts : She set a new world record at the Beijing Olympics – 5.05 meters (the current Olympic record). Later, Isinbaeva exceeded her record by another centimeter. In total, she has 28 world records.
Comment : A year ago in London, Yelena Isinbayeva could not fulfill her dream – to become a three-time Olympic champion. Having settled into a protracted streak of failures after Beijing 2008, the world record holder was never able to regain her former shape. The sixth place at the 2011 World Cup in Korean Daegu was followed by the “bronze” of the 2012 Olympics in London, where American Jennifer Sur became the champion. Moreover, already in March 2013, Sur broke Isinbayeva’s indoor world record by one centimeter, jumping 5.02 m in Albuquerque. The fight at the Moscow World Championship promises to be fierce, because the likelihood of Isinbayeva leaving the big sport after the “home” championship is still high. A month before the tournament, Isinbayeva won the Russian championship, but stopped at an altitude of 4.75 m, which she took only on the third attempt.
Olga Kaniskina (Russia)
Discipline : Race walking
Date of birth : January 19, 1985, Floor Tavla
Achievements : Olympic champion (2008), three-time world champion , 2011), European champion (2010).
Interesting facts : Kaniskina is one of the pupils of the most successful Russian race walking coach Viktor Chegin, whose name is the Olympic Training Center in the Republic of Mordovia.Among Chegin’s pupils are also Olympic champions Valery Borchin, Sergey Kirdyapkin and Elena Lashmanova, as well as a number of winners of the Games.
Commentary : At the Olympic Games in London, where most experts predicted Kaniskina’s victory, she won a silver medal. At the finish of the 20 km distance, the current title holder lost to another Russian woman, her partner in Chegin’s group, Elena Lashmanova. After that, Kaniskina wanted to end her career, but then decided to perform at the home championship of the planet. This season, Kaniskina, who was exempted from selection to the team by the decision of the coaching council, practically did not perform. Lashmanova will again accompany her at the 2013 World Cup, as well as another contender for the “gold”, the 2013 Universiade champion Anisya Kirdyapkina, who was fifth in London, and a year earlier won a bronze medal in Korean Daegu.
Daria Klishina (Russia)
Discipline : Long jump
Date of birth : January 15, 1991, Tver
Achievements : Two-time European champion, 2013 indoors, victories ( Universiade (2013), world champion among juniors (2007).
Interesting facts : In 2011, Klishina, who started playing sports with volleyball, was recognized as the most beautiful athlete in Russia by ProSport magazine, ahead of curler Anna Sidorova according to the survey. Klishina has long-term contracts with a number of the largest companies in the world.
Commentary : Russian specialists expected from Klishina at least a medal of the Olympic Games in London, but 20-year-old Daria did not go to the British capital. The failed fifth place in the 2012 Russian Championship, which was also a selection for the Olympics, dashed all the hopes of the young athlete. However, at the March European Championship, Klishina won with a score of 7.01 m – at the Games in London, such a jump could bring the Russian woman a bronze medal. Daria Klishina won her next victory at the Universiade in Kazan, where she jumped 17 cm farther than the silver medalist of London 2012, another Russian woman – Elena Sokolova. Along with Sokolova at the 2013 World Cup in Moscow, Klishina, two more titled Russians Olga Kucherenko and Lyudmila Kolchanova, as well as the reigning world champion and Olympic champion Brittney Reese, will oppose in the fight for the title.
Tatyana Lysenko (Russia)
Discipline : Hammer throw
Date of birth : October 9, 1983, Bataysk
Achievements : Olympic champion (2012), world champion (2011) (2006).
Interesting facts : In 2007, Lysenko, being the owner of the world record, was disqualified for two years for doping, which is why she missed the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
Comment : Tatyana Lysenko’s full return after being disqualified for using a prohibited drug took place at the 2011 World Championships, where the Russian woman surpassed former world champion Betty Heidler from Germany. A year later, at the London Olympics, Lysenko surpassed not only the result of Hadler, who won the bronze medal, but also the result of the then world champion Anita Wlodarczyk from Poland. All three athletes will be the main contenders for victory in Moscow. To them can be added the owner of the best result of the last season, Oksana Menkova from Belarus, two-time world champion, Cuban Yipsi Moreno and Chinese Zhang Wensiu, who finished fourth in London.
Sanya Richards-Ross (USA)
Discipline : Running 400 meters
Date of birth : February 26, 1985, Trelawney (Jamaica)
Achievements : Four-time Olympic champion , 2012), five-time world champion (2003, 2007, 2009, 2011), world champion indoors (2012).
Interesting Facts : Richards-Ross was born in Jamaica, where she started athletics. She left her historical homeland at the age of 12, and in 2002 became a US citizen, gaining the right to compete in international competitions under the American flag.
Commentary : Before the London Olympics, Sani Richards-Ross had two Games gold medals, but both were won by her in the US relay quartet at a distance of 4 x 400 meters.Only at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, the titled athlete was able to achieve her first individual victory in a major competition. In London, Richards-Ross managed to repeat the success – she was ahead of the Beijing 2008 Olympic champion, Briton Christine Ohuruogu. It is the duel between Ohuruogu and Richards-Ross that experts predict on the eve of the Moscow championship of the planet.
Maria Savinova (Russia)
Discipline : 800 meter race
Date of birth : August 13, 1985, Chelyabinsk
Achievements : Olympic champion (2012), world champion (2011), world champion indoors (2010), European champion (2010).
Interesting facts : Savinova, who specializes in management economics by her second education, represents the club of the notorious Uralvagonzavod “Sputnik” and the sports society “Dynamo” at domestic competitions.
Commentary : Maria Savinova twice in a row – first at the 2011 World Championship, then at the 2012 Olympics – outstripped the 2009 world champion at a distance of 800 meters Caster Semenyu. The South African, who was previously at the center of the scandal due to problems with gender determination, failed to meet the qualification minimum to participate in the Moscow World Championship, so a new duel between Savinova and Semeny in the Russian capital will not take place. The main rivals of the Russian woman will be the 2007 world champion Janet Jepkosgei from Kenya, her compatriot Eunice Sum, the best American woman Alicia Montano and another Russian woman Ekaterina Poistogova, who won a bronze medal in London last year.
Ivan Ukhov (Russia)
Discipline : High Jumping
Date of birth : April 4, 1986, Chelyabinsk
Achievements : Olympic champion (2012), 2010 world indoor champion ), two-time European Indoor Champion (2009, 2011).
Interesting facts : Ukhov became famous all over the world when in September 2008, at a competition in Lausanne, he entered the sector in a state of alcoholic intoxication, which did not allow him to perform a jump. The International Association of Athletics Federations issued a stern warning to Ukhov, deciding not to disqualify the jumper.
Commentary : Ivan Ukhov has been a promising athlete for a long time, but he could not achieve significant success at major tournaments for a long time. The event at the Lausanne tournament seemed to confirm once again that an ambitious athlete cannot fully reveal his potential. However, Ukhov did not miss his finest hour. At the London Olympics, Ukhov jumped almost flawlessly, taking on the first attempt the “golden” height of 2 meters 38 centimeters for him. The closest pursuer, American Kynard, lost 5 cm to the Russian. In the final competitions, Ukhov could be disqualified, because … he lost his jersey before decisive attempts.Having failed to find her, Ukhov first made an attempt in a regular T-shirt, and then in the T-shirt of his teammate, Beijing 2008 Olympic champion Andrei Silnov.
Mo Farah (Great Britain)
Discipline : running 5000 and 10000 meters
Date of birth : March 23, 1983, Mogadishu (Somalia)
Achievements : Two-time Olympic champion (2012 world champion (2011), three-time European champion (2010, 2012).
Interesting facts : Mohammed Farah moved to the UK from Djibouti at the age of eight, because his father was living in London by that time. His twin brother still lives in Africa. Farah’s left leg, which the British have come to call “Mo” for short, is several centimeters longer than his right, which is believed to have caused many injuries to the athlete in the past.
Commentary : Mo Farah was one of the main hopes of the British athletics team at the London Games along with heptathlon spokeswoman Jessica Ennis and long jumper Greg Rutherford. All of them eventually won gold medals, and Mo even two.The first in the program of the Olympics was a distance of 10,000 meters, at which Farah lost to Ibrahim Ceylan from Ethiopia at the last World Championships in Daegu. In London, where Ceylan did not come, the Briton managed to get ahead of another Ethiopian stayer Tariq Bekele and American Galen Rapp. A week later, Mo Farah was unmatched and half the distance, after which he was recognized as one of the main heroes of the 2012 Olympics, along with Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, American swimmer Michael Phelps and several other athletes.
Dwight Phillips (USA)
Discipline : Long jump
Date of birth : October 1, 1977 Decatur
Achievements : Olympic champion (2004), four-time world champion , 2009, 2011), World Indoor Champion (2003).
Fun Facts : Phillips got his start in athletics with sprinting, having achieved some success at the junior level, then retrained to triple jump after entering the University of Kentucky, but eventually took up long jump, moving to the University of Arizona.
Commentary : The Olympic success that made Dwight Phillips famous all over the world came to him almost 10 years ago, but the American is the reigning world champion. In Daegu 2011, Phillips jumped 8.45 meters, winning the fourth gold in the world championships. Phillips entered the competition with the number 1111, which he then proudly displayed in camera lenses. However, the eminent athlete could not go to the Games in London due to neck and spine injuries sustained in an accident before the start of last season.Phillips’ recent results indicate that it will be difficult for him to count on success in Moscow, but such a colorful athlete will undoubtedly enjoy increased interest from both viewers and journalists.
Shelley-Ann Fraser-Price (Jamaica)
Discipline : Running 100 and 200 meters
Date of birth : December 27, 1986, Kingston
Achievements : Two-time Olympic champion 2012), world champion (2009).
Fun Facts : Fraser-Price dominates the 100-meter race among women, as her compatriot Usain Bolt dominates among men. The last two Olympics ended with the triumph of the “Pocket Rocket”, as the Jamaican athlete was nicknamed for the combination of short stature (1.52 m) and explosive speed.
Commentary : Before the 2013 World Cup in Moscow, several doping scandals broke out at once, which also affected the Jamaican sprint team. Such titled athletes as Veronica Campbell-Brown and Sharon Simpson, who tested positive for doping tests, have been barred from participating in the tournament.Fraser-Price is clean, which means she is ready to fight for another champion title. Her main rivals will most likely be American Carmelita Jeter, silver medalist in London 2012 at 100 meters, and Allison Felix, reigning Olympic champion at 200 meters. At the moment, Fraser-Price is the owner of the best results of the season in the world at both distances, which is aiming at the “golden” double.
Big interview with Vladimir Vorobyov – Hockey club “Dynamo” Moscow
About the head coach of Moscow “Dynamo” little can be learned from the Internet. You can find only dry data about his impressive hockey career. So today, on his forty-fifth birthday, he shared his story with us.
– Vladimir Anatolyevich, tell us how you came to hockey at all?
– On September 8, 1980 I was enrolled in the hockey sports school # 3 in Cherepovets. Since then, I have not parted with this sport. Cherepovets is a metallurgical city, hockey there is the number one sport, people loved to go to games: in the small sports palace, the stands were always to the eyeballs. For me, there were no other roads. Is that “musical” – until the second or third grade I was a vocalist in the choir. My mother really wanted me to play the button accordion, but hockey eventually overpowered: after reading an advertisement in the newspaper about the recruitment of boys born in 1972, my parents sent me to the team. More for health – I was a very thin boy, but it turned out that hockey has become a matter of life.
– Did you get your first experience in adult hockey in the same place, in Cherepovets?
– Yes, I was lucky that I was taken to the team of craftsmen, where such professionals as the Orlov brothers and Gennady Kurdin played. So my school was very decent in this respect. If I, God forbid, didn’t give a pass to the club, I would immediately receive a hat. Yes, and then tempered not weakly: before we flew, and traveled by bus, and traveled by train, spent a lot of time at airports and train stations. Guarding the trunks was in the order of things for me.
– Now let’s talk about Dynamo. How did you end up in the capital’s club?
– I managed to appear in the team of masters, there were offers from Yaroslavl “Torpedo” and CSKA.But Vitaly Semenovich Davydov called my mother and invited me to Dynamo. Since my father had been rooting for blue and white all his life, the choice was obvious. I was very happy with the invitation and gladly joined the club. The team was wonderful. Of course, when I was driving from a small provincial town to the capital, it was a little scary. But literally a month and a half was enough for me to adapt. Moscow quickly accepted me, a lot of friends appeared, and I got a foothold here.
– You became the champion of the country in 1995.Tell us about this season. What, in your opinion, was the key to victory?
– Before the start of the season, Vladimir Vasilyevich Golubovich attracted a lot of talented guys from the youth team: Podpuzko, Vyshedkevich, Kuvaldin, Sergeev. They quickly joined our team, added youth and excitement. In the final against Lada it was difficult, stubborn games turned out, but, to great joy, it was we who raised the cup above our heads.
– After the championship, you went to the NHL. Why did you fail to gain a foothold? After all, your statistics were very good.In the New York Rangers, you have 10 (5 + 5) points in 16 games.
– I learned from the newspaper that the New York Rangers picked me in the No. 240 draft. At first I just didn’t believe it. Of course, he strove for this, set a goal for himself – to gain a foothold in the NHL. I was perfectly aware of which club had chosen me. Arriving there in 1996 in a company with Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Luke Robitaille and other legends, I realized what the scale and tasks are. Needless to say – there was a team of millionaires, and even widely known.
Learned a lot from them. I used to read books about the same Gretzky, but now I found myself in the same locker room with him – for me it was the ultimate dream. Of course, our guys Sergei Nemchinov, Alexey Kovalev, Alexander Karpovtsev, the kingdom of heaven to him, helped me a lot, especially in communication. The main problem I had was the language. Because from the very first day at school I studied German, and in America I had to learn English from the very beginning. There were no difficulties on the ice. It was interesting.I went through training camp, was the top scorer after Robitaille, at the beginning of the season I played at the Binghamton Rangers farm club, then Lecha Kovalev broke his leg, or something, and I was called up to the main team, where they immediately said that I would play with Messier and Gretzky is in the top five. So I’ve had to throw Wayne’s show in my life. I started well, the statistics for the first games were good, a lot worked out, but then the team lost. The general manager and coach called me and said: “You are a good guy, but you will go to play in a farm club.”
I was waiting for my chance, played well in the AHL, scored points. The next year, the situation was approximately the same: they raised it up a few games, then lowered it down. Then they changed me to Edmonton. I played a few games there and that’s it.
– You returned to Dynamo in 2002, you spent three more years in our club. The championship season 2004-2005 stands apart here. At that time there was a lockout in the NHL, a large number of world stars came from overseas: Kovalchuk in Ak Bars, Jaromir Jagr in Avangard, Datsyuk in Dynamo – the list is very long. What helped the blue and white?
– We had a very long shop, the coach had a large selection of quality hockey players. Datsyuk, Markov, Afinagenov, Chubarov helped. We complemented them well, Kharitonov looked great then. It was a good team, friendly, we could do everything. Everyone knows Krikunov’s workouts, a lot of hard work. Not all stars were able to play. Gavlat arrived, but it didn’t work out for him, but the Czech Rosa and the Slovak Bartechko coped. We all stood together and raised the cherished cup above our heads – it is worth working for this.
– Do you remember that famous match with Avangard, which ended with a score of 11: 0? An outlet for Dynamo fans at all times.
– Everything flew in that match! And there were fights, Ovechkin and Tverdovsky then fought. The game was very memorable.
– Why did you leave Dynamo?
– Back in 2002, Bilyaletdinov made our link: Stepanov – Tereshchenko – Vorobiev, and when Zinetula Haydyarovich called, we went to the coach.
– Subsequently, you took the Cup with Ak Bars and Salavat Yulaev.
– In Kazan we were on the sidelines under the three Morozov – Zinoviev – Zaripov. And in Salavat we were given the task of taking the lead roles and proving that we are already established players.
– Which coach was the most comfortable for you to work with and why?
– You know, when I was a player, I always wrote down all the training sessions in which I took part, since there was always something to learn from each coach. It was difficult, but I took up the handle systematically.A lot of notes have accumulated. Sometimes I open it, read it, analyze it. It happens that from some year I will pull out a training session.
– So you were already thinking about a coaching career then?
– I was just wondering. The task that I will definitely be a coach, I did not set myself, although I studied at the Higher School of Coaches in St. Petersburg while still an active player. Simply, if you love your job, then you have to completely surrender to it. Some things can work out, but some don’t, but you need to strive to do everything to the end.
– You ended your player career at Severstal, where you started your coaching career in 2011. How did you decide to take this step?
– In general, I went to Cherepovets to finish my playing career. I wanted to be with my parents – the people who gave me a start in life. And somewhere in the course of the season, the acting coach of Severstal, Dmitry Kvartalnov, told me: “Stand by your side, on the bench”. It was unexpected for me. And then it turned out that the season ended, and I began to work as an assistant to Kvartalnov in Cherepovets.
– Who serves as an example for you in this difficult work?
– You can learn from everyone. Bilyaletdinov, Tuzik, Tikhonov, Mikhailov, Yurzinov, Mikhalev, Tsygurov, Belousov – the list goes on. It turns out that I managed to take a lot from the Soviet school. If we compare that time and the present, in modern hockey the schedule is much more intense, the training process has to be changed along the way. Sometimes you don’t know what time you arrive home, how the team will feel. That is, it is always necessary, as Vitaly Semenovich Davydov says, to keep abreast. The command must be felt: somewhere to give a rest, somewhere on the contrary – to shout and swear. It is a living mechanism that must be controlled.
– You once mentioned that working in the camp of blue and white was a dream for you. How did you feel when you received the invitation? How did this happen?
– At that time I was working with Nazarov, we were preparing the team for the world championship in group B. My agent called and said that Andrey Nikolaevich Safronov wanted to talk to me. He immediately handed over the phone and Andrei Nikolayevich said: “I want to see you at Dynamo Moscow.Without thinking for a second, I replied that I was ready. So I ended up in the coaching staff of Harijs Vitolins.
– For you, the current season as a head coach is your debut. Share your impressions of how you build relationships with the players? After all, you have played with many. Are there no problems with subordination?
– I have no problems with the players. We have a very good microclimate in the team, I trust the guys. When necessary, I can shout – not without it. There are many veterans in the roster, there are also young players.I tell both those and others that we need to learn. And we – the coaches – also learn. In addition to the obvious tasks, our goal is to make a good team. At the moment, something is working out, something is not, but the most important thing is not to give up and go forward. If we treat our work professionally, everything will work out. The most important thing for a coach is you know when your eyes are on fire. Yes, there are defeats, there are problems, but through work, through work, all this can be straightened out.
And I am satisfied with my headquarters. When you come to the coaching room, you see that people are not sitting idly by: someone is working with a non-playing squad, someone is making a video, someone is preparing training. The process is going on and, accordingly, the team lives on. It happens, we argue, we discuss different points, but in general we have a team of like-minded people in the coaching staff.
