What are the benefits of practicing Warrior poses in yoga. How can you improve your Warrior pose technique. What are common mistakes to avoid in Warrior poses. How do Warrior poses strengthen and tone the body. Why are Warrior poses considered foundational yoga postures.
The Significance of Warrior Poses in Yoga Practice
Warrior poses, known as Virabhadrasana in Sanskrit, are foundational postures in yoga that offer numerous physical and mental benefits. These powerful standing poses help build strength, improve balance, increase flexibility, and cultivate focus and determination. Let’s explore the different Warrior poses and their unique attributes.
Warrior I (Virabhadrasana I): Mastering the Basics
Warrior I is a dynamic standing pose that engages multiple muscle groups simultaneously. Here are some key benefits and techniques:
- Increases flexibility in the hips
- Strengthens and tones legs, ankles, and feet
- Improves overall standing posture
- Prepares the body for deeper hip openers and backbends
To perform Warrior I correctly, focus on aligning your front knee over your ankle and keeping your hips square to the front of the mat. Engage your core to maintain stability and lift through your arms and chest.
Common Mistakes in Warrior I
Are you tilting your pelvis forward excessively in Warrior I? This common error can lead to lower back strain. Instead of tucking the tailbone under, focus on lifting the lower abdomen to maintain length in the lower back. This subtle adjustment can significantly improve your form and reduce the risk of injury.
Warrior II (Virabhadrasana II): Finding Balance and Strength
Warrior II is a pose that embodies the balance between strength and flexibility. This asana offers several benefits:
- Builds strength in the legs and core
- Increases hip and shoulder flexibility
- Improves focus and concentration
- Enhances overall body awareness
When practicing Warrior II, pay attention to keeping your front knee aligned with your ankle and your back foot firmly grounded. Extend your arms strongly in opposite directions while maintaining a relaxed gaze over your front middle finger.
Protecting Your Knees in Warrior II
How can you safeguard your knees while practicing Warrior II? Ensure that your front knee doesn’t extend beyond your toes and avoid letting it collapse inward. Engage your quadriceps and inner thighs to maintain proper alignment and distribute the weight evenly between both legs.
The Origins and Symbolism of Warrior Poses
Warrior poses are named after the fierce warrior Virabhadra from Hindu mythology. These poses symbolize our inner strength and ability to overcome ego and ignorance. By practicing Warrior poses, we cultivate not only physical strength but also mental fortitude and spiritual growth.
Integrating Warrior Poses into Your Yoga Practice
Incorporating Warrior poses into your regular yoga routine can greatly enhance your overall practice. Here are some tips for integration:
- Use Warrior poses as part of your warm-up sequence
- Practice transitions between different Warrior variations
- Hold the poses for longer durations to build endurance
- Explore modifications and variations to suit your level
Remember, consistency is key. Regular practice will help you progress and experience the full benefits of these powerful poses.
Advanced Variations of Warrior Poses
Once you’ve mastered the basics of Warrior I and II, you can explore more challenging variations:
- Warrior III (Virabhadrasana III): A balancing pose that strengthens the legs and core
- Reverse Warrior: A side-bending variation that increases spinal flexibility
- Humble Warrior: A forward-bending variation that deepens hip and shoulder opening
These advanced variations build upon the foundation of the basic Warrior poses, offering new challenges and benefits for experienced practitioners.
The Role of Breath in Warrior Poses
Proper breathing is crucial in all yoga poses, and Warrior poses are no exception. How does breath work enhance your Warrior practice? Deep, steady breathing helps you maintain focus, manage discomfort, and stay present in the pose. It also aids in accessing deeper stretches and building greater endurance.
Try incorporating ujjayi breath, a yogic breathing technique, while holding Warrior poses. This controlled breathing can help you find a sense of calm strength and improve your overall performance in these challenging postures.
Warrior Poses for Different Levels of Practitioners
Warrior poses can be adapted to suit practitioners of all levels. Here’s how different groups can approach these poses:
Beginners
If you’re new to yoga, focus on the basic alignment principles of Warrior I and II. Use props like blocks or a wall for support if needed. Practice holding the poses for shorter durations and gradually increase as you build strength and stability.
Intermediate Practitioners
As you progress, work on refining your alignment and exploring the subtleties of each pose. Experiment with longer hold times and flowing between different Warrior variations. Begin to incorporate more advanced variations like Warrior III.
Advanced Yogis
For experienced practitioners, Warrior poses offer an opportunity to deepen your practice. Focus on the energetic aspects of the poses, explore challenging variations, and use Warrior poses as a foundation for complex sequences or arm balances.
Common Injuries and How to Avoid Them in Warrior Poses
While Warrior poses offer numerous benefits, improper technique can lead to injuries. Here are some common issues and how to prevent them:
- Knee strain: Ensure proper alignment of the knee over the ankle in Warrior I and II
- Lower back pain: Maintain length in the lower back and engage the core
- Hip discomfort: Progress gradually and respect your body’s limits
- Shoulder tension: Keep the shoulders relaxed and away from the ears
Always listen to your body and modify the poses as needed. If you experience persistent pain or discomfort, consult a qualified yoga instructor or healthcare professional.
The Mental and Emotional Benefits of Warrior Poses
Beyond their physical benefits, Warrior poses offer significant mental and emotional advantages. These powerful postures can help:
- Boost confidence and self-esteem
- Improve focus and concentration
- Reduce stress and anxiety
- Cultivate a sense of inner strength and resilience
By embodying the warrior spirit in these poses, practitioners can develop a greater sense of personal power and emotional balance that extends beyond the yoga mat.
Incorporating Warrior Poses into a Balanced Yoga Sequence
To create a well-rounded yoga practice, it’s important to integrate Warrior poses with other complementary asanas. Here’s a sample sequence that incorporates Warrior poses:
- Sun Salutations for warm-up
- Standing poses including Warrior I and II
- Balancing poses like Tree Pose or Warrior III
- Seated forward bends to counter the backbending element of Warriors
- Twists to neutralize the spine
- Relaxation in Savasana
This balanced sequence allows you to experience the full benefits of Warrior poses while maintaining overall harmony in your practice.
Using Props to Enhance Your Warrior Pose Practice
Props can be valuable tools for improving your Warrior poses, regardless of your experience level. Here are some ways to use props effectively:
- Blocks: Place under the hands in Warrior I for added support
- Straps: Use to help maintain alignment in Warrior II
- Wall: Practice Warrior poses against a wall to check alignment
- Blankets: Place under the back heel in Warrior I for added comfort
Experimenting with props can help you find better alignment, increase stability, and deepen your understanding of the poses.
The Connection Between Warrior Poses and Core Strength
While Warrior poses primarily target the legs and hips, they also engage the core muscles significantly. How do Warrior poses contribute to core strength? By maintaining proper alignment and stability in these poses, you activate your abdominal muscles, obliques, and lower back muscles.
To maximize core engagement in Warrior poses:
- Draw your navel toward your spine
- Engage your pelvic floor muscles
- Keep your ribcage lifted and your lower back long
- Maintain a strong, stable torso as you hold the pose
Regularly practicing Warrior poses with proper core engagement can lead to improved overall core strength and stability.
Warrior Poses in Different Yoga Styles
Warrior poses are incorporated into various yoga styles, each with its unique approach:
Hatha Yoga
In Hatha yoga, Warrior poses are often held for longer durations, allowing practitioners to focus on proper alignment and breathing.
Vinyasa Flow
Vinyasa classes typically include Warrior poses as part of flowing sequences, emphasizing the transition between poses.
Ashtanga Yoga
Warrior I and II are integral parts of the Ashtanga primary series, practiced with specific breath counts and gazing points.
Iyengar Yoga
This style emphasizes precise alignment in Warrior poses, often using props to help students achieve the correct form.
Exploring different yoga styles can provide new perspectives on Warrior poses and enrich your overall practice.
The Evolution of Warrior Poses in Modern Yoga
How have Warrior poses evolved in contemporary yoga practice? While the fundamental forms remain true to their traditional roots, modern yoga has seen the development of numerous variations and hybrid poses based on the Warrior series. Some examples include:
- Peaceful Warrior: A heart-opening variation of Warrior II
- Warrior Squat: A combination of Warrior II and Chair Pose
- Dancing Warrior: A flowing sequence incorporating various Warrior poses
These creative adaptations demonstrate the versatility and enduring relevance of Warrior poses in today’s yoga landscape.
Warrior Poses and Energy Flow
In yoga philosophy, poses are believed to affect the flow of energy, or prana, through the body. Warrior poses are particularly powerful in this regard:
- They stimulate the root and sacral chakras, promoting grounding and creativity
- The expansive nature of these poses encourages energy to flow freely through the body
- The combination of strength and openness in Warriors balances opposing energies
By practicing Warrior poses mindfully, you can enhance your awareness of subtle energy and promote overall balance in your system.
Warrior Poses for Specific Health Conditions
While Warrior poses offer general health benefits, they can also be particularly helpful for certain conditions:
Lower Back Pain
The core engagement and spinal lengthening in Warrior poses can help alleviate lower back pain when practiced correctly.
Knee Issues
Modified Warrior poses can strengthen the muscles surrounding the knees, potentially reducing pain and improving stability.
Anxiety and Stress
The grounding nature of Warrior poses, combined with focused breathing, can help reduce anxiety and promote a sense of calm strength.
Always consult with a healthcare professional before using yoga to address specific health concerns, and work with a qualified instructor to ensure proper technique.
Warrior Poses in Yoga Therapy
Yoga therapists often incorporate Warrior poses into treatment plans for various conditions. These poses can be adapted to suit individual needs and used to:
- Improve posture and body awareness
- Enhance balance and coordination
- Build strength in specific muscle groups
- Increase overall flexibility and range of motion
The versatility of Warrior poses makes them valuable tools in therapeutic yoga settings, allowing practitioners to address a wide range of physical and mental health issues.
The Role of Warrior Poses in Building a Home Yoga Practice
Incorporating Warrior poses into your home yoga routine can provide structure and focus to your practice. Here are some tips for using Warrior poses effectively at home:
- Use Warrior I and II as anchor poses in your sequences
- Practice transitioning smoothly between different Warrior variations
- Set a timer to hold Warrior poses for progressively longer durations
- Use a mirror or video yourself to check your alignment
Regular practice of Warrior poses at home can help you build strength, improve your technique, and deepen your understanding of these fundamental yoga postures.

Great sniper rifle ! No words !
Nice gun for that money. The things I can notice: Feels solid and looks great. Power is enough(but it’s not giving more than 420-430fps even with nozzle insert removed). It seems that hop up is giving BB a little left-curve but its easy to make correction after the first shot.
Very good sniper rifle. And with all the accessories needed for a novice sniper. Allthough the Gunfire specs are wronge for the fps – it gives out 425-430 fps. But you can buy an upgrade kit here at Gunfire for peanuts and it goes to 520-525fps 🙂 I am very please with my purchase!
Verry good gun, Very complete
Good rifle, however hop up tends to create left-curve, shoots accurate if turn hop up into minimum level.
Overall good gun for that money. Feels solid in hand looks good. The only downside I had was unfortunate defective hop-up arm. The plastic hop-up arm left side part of which is pushing the rubber into the barrel is thicker than the right side, hence giving the BB unwanted left-curve. I already ordered new aluminium hop-up arm from this very store.
I just love the quality of this gun!
Ricardo, Oliveira Do Bairro
This Warrior 1 Sniper rifle (Well L96) is of very good quality made, easy to handle, and of good weight. When you manage to adjust the Hop-Up well, it is very accurate. I reccommended this rifle to a friend of mine, he used my gun for a while, and decided to buy this one too. Very complete, as a scope and a bipod was included!! I’m very satisfied with this product, and als a big thumb to Gunfire.pl,for their fast handling and shipping!
when you set it right, it is very acurate. feels very good when against the shoulder when shooting. it’s not lightweight but you can play with it all day long…

Fine gun acc.to my son. Some deviation in the bullet speed betweem manufacturer (430fpm printed on the package) and Gunfire.com(480fpm).
Hope Gunfire.com will allow automatic payment via IBAN/BIC-account .This time all had to be done “manually” by sales people!

Why we practice the Warrior poses
Warrior 1
Regular practice of Warrior I/Virabhadrasana I increases flexibility in the hips and strengthens and tones the legs, ankles and feet.
Working on Warrior I will improve all standing poses as well as hip openers. In this pose we get a twist for the spine, while the opening of the shoulders and side body prepares us for backbends.

However, because of all these different elements Warrior I is a complex pose with a lot of different alignment cues to learn. Keeping all these in mind while staying with the breath can feel a bit like a juggling act. But this is Warrior Pose after all – named after the fierce warrior Virabhadra, who is said to symbolize our inner ability to overcome ego and ignorance. The warriors challenge and test us but in doing so bring us strength, focus, confidence and courage.
Length in the lower back
There can be a tendency for the pelvis to tilt forward in this pose making a stronger arch, or crunch, in the lower back. To counter this, rather than tucking the tailbone under, look to keep length in the lower back by ‘lifting the pit of the abdomen’ instead. David Lurey explains this in his article and class Yoga for Anterior Pelvic Tilt.
Warrior 2
Warrior II requires lots of strength and stability, but also flexibility in the hips and upper body. This teaches us about one of the key principles of yoga asana practice; the balance of sthira and sukha or steadiness and ease. It also teaches us to involve the whole body in asana, and to remember that which is out of sight. In this case, keeping the back arm lifted and the outer edge of the back foot grounded.
Protecting your knees in yoga
Warrior II is a good pose to learn about your own body in terms of the alignment of your knee and ankle. For most people the safest position for the knee joint is for it to be stacked over the ankle. Sometimes however, the knee can fall in towards the big toe side of the foot. To protect the knee and ankle joint you can check to see if the knee is pointing in the same direction as the second and third toe. Take a look at Esther’s advice on Safe knees and feet in yogafor more on this.
Warrior III Pose trains our focus and works the small muscles in the feet and ankles. Keeping a slight bend in the knee can help with balance and prevent the knee from locking. Think about shooting energy out through your back foot to help lift the leg. This pose can be practised with the arms in different positions: parallel with each other in front, out to the sides, slightly pointing back or with the palms together.
Preparation for Handstands
In Warrior III the hips should be level with each other, the core engaged and the spine neutral. Practising these actions in Warrior III will help with other balancing poses like Standing Splits, Handstands and Utthita Hasta Pandangustansana. Practise this in class with Esther in Handstand 1: Neutral Spine
Faith Hunter in Reverse Warrior
Reverse Warrior Pose opens us up to the world. It is often used as a transition between poses in a Vinyasa Flow class and as such can be overlooked as a pose in its own right. Take care of your neck in this pose. You can look to the floor behind you or to the side instead, especially if you’re holding the pose for longer.
Breathe Easy
When held for a few breaths Reverse Warrior can give an amazing opening of the side body, releasing tension in the intercostal muscles around the ribs and allowing for a freer deeper breath.
Nichi Green in Humble Warrior
Humble Warrior is said to teach us surrender as we bow into the pose. Unlike the other warrior poses which open us up to the world, this forward bend variation allows us to draw our focus inwards. On a physical level it is a deep hip and shoulder opener and is good preparation for Lizard Pose and Hanumanasana / Splits Pose
Squaring the hips
You begin this pose in Warrior I, as you bring your upper body forward and inside your bent knee the hips can tend to swing out to the side. Try to keep them parallel with the edges of your mat by rolling the hip of your bent leg under.
Anat Geiger in Retreating Warrior
You might not recognize this deep side lunge as a traditional Warrior Pose but you’ll find it as part of fluid Yang Yoga sequences as taught by Anat and her teachers Paul and Suzee Grilley. It is also sometimes known as Skandasana. This pose strengthens the core and increases flexibility in the hips and hamstrings.

Warrior I: An Essential Yoga Pose for Strength and Stability
If you scroll through Instagram looking for yoga photos, you’ll see only a handful of yogis posing in Virabhadrasana I (Warrior I Pose). It’s not a particularly flashy pose or one that people like to show off on a beach or a mountaintop. But this foundational pose can be fairly complex when you break it down into its component parts.
Warrior I is a forward-facing pose in which the front knee is bent and the back leg is stretched out behind. The chest is facing forward, and the arms are reaching up overhead.
It is a strength pose, and it requires energy and focus. It may be challenging when you are first learning the pose, but once you get the hang of it, the foundational elements will carry over into many other poses, including Virabhadrasana III (Warrior III Pose), Parsvottanasana (Pyramid Pose), Parivrtta Trikonasana (Revolved Triangle Pose), and more.
Seven Steps to Warrior I
Stand in Tadasana (Mountain Pose). Make sure that you feel rooted.
Step your left foot to the back of the mat. Most people will step back about 3 feet, maybe a bit more or less depending on your height and flexibility. Your left foot should be positioned flat on the mat with your toes pointing about 45 degrees forward and to the outside. Your feet should be positioned as if you were standing on railroad tracks (as opposed to standing on a tightrope). Don’t try to line up your feet heel to heel. This will cause your hips to be turned more to the side than the front. The left foot is on the left side of the mat, and the right foot is on the right side of the mat.
Your hips will be slightly slanted toward the back. Because of the different positioning of the feet, we shouldn’t expect both sides of the pelvis to be symmetrical. The legs are doing two different things, so the hips will also be doing two different things. The outdated instruction to square the hips in Warrior I doesn’t account for this asymmetry. Attempts to square your hips in this pose can cause strain across the sacroiliac joints, as well as put undue pressure on the inner knee joint. Allow your hips to open slightly toward the back leg. Instead of squaring your hips, appreciate the dynamic relationship between the two sides of your pelvis.
Once you have found your best foot positioning, bend your front knee so that your knee is either directly over the ankle, or close to being over the ankle (but not beyond). The deeper the bend at the knee, the more challenging the pose is. If you are just beginning, you can bend it a little less and build up strength. If your stance is too short, your knee may overshoot your ankle. If this is the case, lengthen your stance and try again, making sure your knee isn’t in front of your ankle.
The focus in this pose tends to be on the front leg. The front leg is carrying more of the weight. However, the back leg also plays a crucial role. The back leg should be held straight, in part to protect the knee, but also to provide stability to the pose. The back leg also helps to provide directionality to Warrior I, sending the energy of the pose forward.
In Warrior I, the chest should face forward. Since we are allowing the hips to be open slightly, this means that the pose becomes a little bit of a twist, with rotation at the lower thoracic region of the vertebral column. In order to minimize some of the compression that can come with a twist, even a slight one, make sure to find some length in the vertebral column, and think about lifting the ribcage up away from the pelvis. See if you can breathe some space into the back of the ribcage, avoiding compression in that area.
The traditional arm position is to reach both arms up overhead, either with the palms pressing together or parallel to each other. If there is tightness through your upper back and shoulders, it might be more difficult to put your hands together. Pressing palms together shouldn’t be a priority. Instead, just make sure your arms are reaching up overhead, and feel the lengthening of the side body and a lift through the crown of the head. Instead of thinking of the shoulders pressing down (to avoid hunching), think instead about lengthening through the spine. That way you’re not forcing the shoulder blades down as the arms and the rest of the torso reach up, creating a situation where your body is at odds with itself.
Warrior I Alignment
Although Warrior I might seem like a simple pose, there is actually quite a bit going on. The front hip is flexed, making this pose a forward fold for this leg. The back leg is in extension, making it a backbend for the back leg. The torso is also in slight extension, as well as rotation, making the pose a twist!
There is a lot to pay attention to while practicing. I’ll often tell my students that there are four main instructions for Warrior I:
Bend your front knee.
Straighten your back knee.
Turn your chest forward.
Breathe.
There are, of course, many more refined instructions that can be given. But if you focus on the four listed above, the pose will eventually come together. As it does, you can refine it bit by bit.
Some Modifications for Warrior I
Arm Position: If it is difficult for you to keep the arms overhead, it is okay to place your hands on your hips, or press your palms together in front of your chest. You can also extend your arms out to either side. Don’t let tightness of the shoulders or an upper limb injury keep you from this pose!
Use a Wall: Try Warrior I facing the wall, with a block between your shin and the wall. This can help you find the correct positioning of the front leg. It can also make the pose a little easier and take some of the pressure off of the knee.
This pose requires both strength and balance. When you are just learning yoga, you may find it difficult to know what to focus on, because of the many elements that integrate into the pose.
It might not feel natural at first. But stay with it, and eventually, your body will grow into the pose.

Cinemax’s latest action thriller, Warrior, is very good. Although it’s bound to draw some comparisons to Peaky Blinders for its gang-centric storyline, Warrior marches to the beat of its own drum and is all the stronger for it.
Combining well choreographed fights, political scheming and a volatile 1870’s San Francisco setting, Warrior does well to keep things interesting and unpredictable throughout its 10 episodes.
With the Hop Wei and Long Zii gangs on the brink of war, Ah Sahm arrives on the shores of San Francisco, determined to find his sister Mai Ling. Unbeknownst to him, she’s mixed up with the Long Zii while Ah Sahm himself is recruited to the Hop Wei following some impressive fighting at the dock.
From here, the story sees the two gangs dancing around the prospect of war until a catalyst for the drama causes all hell to break loose. While the Chinese are at one another’s throats, a volatile wild card appears in the form of Leary and his Irish gang, angry at the Irish jobs being given to the migrant Chinese. Stitched together with political scheming, crooked cops and plenty of action, Warrior remains highly enjoyable throughout its 10 episodes.
Honouring the memory of Bruce Lee, Warrior has some great fights dotted throughout its run-time. From a Western-inspired brawl in a bar (which is easily the stand-out episode here) to an all-out brawl between the two gangs, Warrior keeps things interesting with a variety of different fights. Warrior also does a great job subverting expectations too, with one fight in particular causing the balance of power to shift in a surprising direction. The choreography is fantastic throughout these segments which helps and at times would certainly give some martial arts films a run for their money.
Unfortunately Warrior does slip up a little with its dialogue. Those looking for a poetically flowing, memorable script will certainly be left wanting. At times the scripts are a little simplistic with the dialogue, peppered with some cliched one-liners and plenty of threats ending with a character walking off. It does feel a tad cartoony at times but if you can look past this and take to the story and characters, Warrior is a lot of fun.
With a second season already green-lit, Warrior sets all the pieces up nicely for the second act of this gang-centric thriller. If you’re looking for an enjoyable, action-packed show full of fighting and drama you can’t really go wrong with this one. The volatile, realistically depicted 1870’s setting helps keep things feeling fresh and although this will almost certainly draw comparisons to Peaky Blinders, Warrior is different enough to carve its own unique slice of the pie. It’s brutal, full of action and exciting, making it one of the biggest surprises of the year.

‘Warrior’ Is Still the Best Show You’re Not Watching
One of the casualties from HBO Max becoming WarnerMedia’s number one priority is Cinemax, HBO’s somewhat unheralded sister network. As announced at the start of 2020, Cinemax will no longer work on original content—nor will the brand be folded into the company’s glitzy new streaming service. Now you might be thinking, “Wait, Cinemax has TV shows?!” and, well, fair—lots of people slept on The Knick, and fewer still could name three Cinemax original series. But the news also means that Warrior, a supremely kick-ass and criminally underappreciated martial arts Western based on the works of Bruce Lee, will struggle to fight another day.
The series, which was brought to life by Bruce’s daughter, Shannon Lee, director of four Fast & Furious films, Justin Lin (as an executive producer), and Jonathan Tropper (creator of Cinemax’s Banshee, who serves as the showrunner), focuses on Chinese immigrant Ah Sahm (played by Andrew Koji, in a role Lee once envisioned for himself) as he arrives in San Francisco in 1875. Sahm, a proficient martial artist, is quickly sucked into Chinatown’s Tong Wars after joining the Hop Wei Tong, all while anti-Chinese sentiments grow more hostile in the city—particularly among members of the Irish working class, who believe that Chinese workers are taking jobs away from them. The vibe is very much “What if Peaky Blinders was racially diverse and half the characters could roundhouse kick you in the face?”
After introducing Sahm and the grimy streets of 19th-century San Francisco, Warrior quickly becomes a true ensemble piece—its deep roster of characters includes rival Tongs, brothel owners, policemen, businessmen, corrupt politicians, and aggrieved spouses of said corrupt politicians. To list every character and their relationships to one another would require an entirely new blog, but here are some standouts: Mai Ling, head of rival Tong the Long Zii, who is also [gasp] Sahm’s secret sister; Buckley, a Machiavellian deputy mayor whom everyone should be suspicious of because his name is Buckley; and Wang Chao, a man I can only describe as “Warrior’s answer to Varys and Littlefinger.”
Similar to the fourth season of Noah Hawley’s Fargo, Warrior explores America’s racial history and its intersection with the immigrant experience—it shows how, in a nation of immigrants, nonwhite people are seldom considered “American” by their white peers. But unlike Fargo Season 4, which is mired in too many overwrought monologues about America to have any fun, Warrior makes itself an extremely entertaining watch through the prioritization of bountiful ass-kicking. With Warrior, you’re guaranteed at least one epic action scene per episode, and one of the joys of the show is that each fight has its own unique flavor. In the hands of series fight coordinator Brett Chan, Warrior flexes a mix of different fighting styles and settings—from face-offs involving judo and taekwondo to street duels with hatchets and drunk Irish blokes bare-knuckle boxing outside a bar. It’s especially thrilling when these different fighting styles intersect; watching a racist Irishman get dropped like a sack of potatoes will never get old.
At the start of the second season, which premieres on Friday, the rival Tongs have attained a fragile peace—one that Sahm is hell-bent on destroying. He convinces Young Jun, his best friend and the heir to the Hop Wei, to smuggle opium behind his father’s back. Meanwhile, Mai Ling continues to consolidate power for herself and the Long Zii through back-channeling with Buckley, who’s making assurances that their gang activity in Chinatown won’t get the police’s attention. Also, the Irish mob, led by the eternally swole Dylan Leary, are emboldened to bomb local factories that have hired cheaper Chinese workers. San Francisco is, in short, a complete shit show teeming with violence and racial animus.
If you know your history, Warrior is heading toward the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, the only American law that explicitly prohibited immigration into the country for a specific racial group. It’s one of many ugly stains in the country’s long history of racism, and the anti-Chinese sentiment that forms the undercurrent of Warrior has gained even more prescience with the xenophobic treatment of Asian American individuals and communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. When it comes to America’s treatment of its Asian citizens, history is very much repeating itself.
Warrior does not shy away from such atrocities on-screen; injustice is embedded in the show’s DNA. When Bruce Lee pitched the basic idea for his vision of Warrior, about a Chinese martial artist making his way through the American West, he said that studios were reluctant to give the green light out of fear that a show with a nonwhite lead would not find an audience. The premise was then stolen and repurposed for the 1972 ABC series Kung Fu, produced by Warner Bros. Television and starring David Carradine, though the studio has denied any wrongdoing. (Lee did audition for the lead role in Kung Fu shortly before his death, but producers believed that viewers wouldn’t understand his accent.)
Nevertheless, Warrior also pays homage to Lee’s original vision. In Season 1, Sahm and Young Jun spend a stand-alone episode holed up at a Chinese-owned saloon in the middle of nowhere, which eventually leads them to take out a band of racist outlaws. Then, in the second season, another stand-alone sees Sahm enter a Bloodsport-esque tournament on the California-Mexico border, overseen by a Southern baron who comes across like a relative of Leonardo DiCaprio’s slave owner from Django Unchained. In taking these detours from the main action in San Francisco, Warrior makes its world feel real and lived-in—one where new conflicts and characters can be found all across the American West.
Ideally, Warrior would be able to continue that thread with more stand-alone episodes—and, just as important, impressively choreographed fight sequences—in future seasons. But Cinemax’s already-imposed original programming shutdown, which was announced after Warrior was renewed for Season 2, means that the show is effectively cancelled. The only hope, as Shannon Lee has explained in interviews, is for Warrior to find an audience on HBO Max, where the series will be placed after the second season finishes airing on Cinemax.
It would not be unprecedented for Warrior to get a second life on a streamer. We’ve seen it happen with other once-canceled shows like The Expanse, and HBO Max has already revived other WarnerMedia offshoots, including shows from the short-lived DC Universe streaming service (Harley Quinn, Doom Patrol). I’ve already gone to bat for The Expanse—not that a fandom which mobilized to fly a banner over Amazon Studios’ headquarters needed one measly blogger’s support. But Warrior doesn’t appear to have the same level of fanfare, in terms of ratings or an online presence—some of which might come down to, again, a lack of familiarity with Cinemax. (It’s not hard to imagine Warrior faring better on HBO proper.)
Perhaps, like Cobra Kai, which has gained newfound prominence on Netflix, this martial arts show just needs a bigger platform to find an audience. After all, it shouldn’t take much to sell an action enthusiast on Warrior. It would be great if HBO Max righted a longtime wrong of a martial arts legend by finally bringing his vision to life, examined the Chinese immigrant experience that Hollywood has long overlooked, or provided a regrettably rare platform for Asian and Asian American actors in meaningful leading roles. Warrior does all of that, and packs one hell of a punch.

90,000 Warrior Nun – Season 1: Ending, Explanation and Meaning
The first season of Simon Barry’s The Warrior Nun is finally out on Netflix. And the adaptation of the iconic comic strip did not disappoint fans.
However, the creators of the Netflix series were more inspired by the original work of Dunn, rather than reproduced in detail. Rather than focusing on Dunn’s former protagonist, Sister Shannon, The Warrior Nun begins right with the death of Shannon Masters. The baton is immediately passed on to a new character, Ave, played by the charming Portuguese actress Alba Baptista.
The Antarctic Press, an independent comic book series, launched back in 1994 and immediately drew criticism for its “irreverent portrayal of the Catholic Church and controversial attitudes towards the traditional monarchy.”
The series tells about a fictional society of warrior nuns called the Order of the Cruciform Sword. The order was founded in 1066 at the height of the Crusades by a warrior who abandoned paganism and adopted the Christian name of Areal.Shannon Masters became the avatar of Auria Areala.
Barry often uses the Warrior Nun’s abilities, albeit often in surprising ways. The series’ complex mythology unfolds at an accelerated pace towards the end of the season. In the end, we end up with an action-packed ending that pushes each of the three stand-alone storylines to climax without taking any of them to their logical conclusion.
So let’s take a look at what happened in the incredible final episode of the first season of The Warrior Nun.

Ava Origin
The main character of the series, Ava, is a paralyzed orphan who lives in a rather squalid Spanish monastery. In the very first episode, the heroine dies under mysterious circumstances. The nun performs special rituals over her body.
It looks like Ava did not enjoy much of the shelter’s affection. Then Ava’s body was taken to a Spanish monastery, where it was breathed again into life.
Soon demons break through the defenses of the monastery. One of the non-sword-wielding nuns uses a set of forceps to remove a luminous artifact called Halo from Shannon’s back.
Unsurprisingly, the demons want to take possession of him, and it is imperative for the heroes that this does not happen. The nun hides the Halo inside Ava’s corpse. Thanks to this, Ava comes to life pretty quickly. In addition, she gets rid of paralysis.
In addition, she acquires a set of powerful superpowers, including superpowers and the ability to self-heal. As a result, she became something between Superman and Wolverine with a religious bias.
Although the series begins with dizzying incidents, the development of events drags on a bit in the middle of the season, and the focus shifts from the existential struggle of good and evil to a more mundane story of the characters.
Ava gradually realizes what it means to be a normal young woman. Fortunately, this more sluggish storyline fades into the background by the time the season draws to a close and Ava falls into the vortex of centuries of biblical struggles.
Ava learns the origin of her powers
Episode 10 begins with Ava still trapped in the tomb where she ended up at the end of Episode 9. The rest of the fighting nuns look inside the tomb, but there is no longer one inside Ava.
The spirit of Adriel (Pedro Rudolfi), who took the form of an angel, is next to the avenging heroine. He has a story to tell. Adriel tells Ave that the Halo in her back was stolen from him by Areala (Guyomar Alonso) in 1066, and since then he has been on a millennial mission trying to get it back.
Adriel claims that the church kept him inside the tomb because the priests knew that he could not be defeated in the mortal world.
According to Adriel, the church uses faith to seek power and control over people.
Adriel then shows Ave memories of the death and resurrection of Araela Halo. It seems that Ava is ready to hand over the Halo to Adriel. After all, he is an angel.
Ava rescues the other nuns waiting outside the tomb.
Adriel is not who he says he is
Adriel may have been the original source of the Halo, but he was not the one who knocked it down. Ava sees Adriel leave the medieval battle through a demonic portal.
He is followed by the demon Tarasque, whom he quickly destroys using the Halo, which appears to be some kind of crude weapon, not a sacred artifact.
Believing Adriel to be a warrior of Christ, the Crusaders mistakenly surrender to him, watching him defeat Tarasque. In the tomb, Ava receives this knowledge from Adriel. Of course, he admits that he is not an angel at all.
Adriel enters Ava in an attempt to take possession of the Eagle, but Ava fights him off as Beatrice (Christina Tonteri-Young) and other warrior nuns burst into the walls of the tomb.
The Sisters pull Ava out from the rubble and retreat tactically. But Adriel is far from defeated. The Sisters engage the demon in a well-thought-out battle sequence that delays him long enough for Ava to recharge the Halo and draw the Divine sword.
Adriel resists, summons many demons, and this is where the episode ends abruptly.
But this is not the only obstacle. In a subplot, Michael tells his crying mother that his angel is returning for him. As soon as the boy is on the verge of death, an artifact similar to the Stargate spontaneously turns on, opening a kind of portal.
Michael throws himself at him and disappears. Christian calls this “Divine Will.”
What is the bottom line? We really learned a lot from this episode. Most importantly, we now know that Ava’s powers are not of Divine origin, and the Halo in her back is actually some kind of demonic weapon that Adriel brought from hell.
If Season 2 hits Netflix, we hope to see if Ava’s sword can defeat the demon and also find out where Michael went.

90,000 Book Is It Good to Be a Woman. Book 1. Warrior Girl
“I’m from Zaozerye, sir,” she croaked in response, hastily glancing at his triangular flag, realizing that he himself would be from the other side, more likely from the steppe peoples.Vaughn and his dark vortices spoke for this.
– Wow! Strong voice. But the body … isn’t it watery? How did you manage to reach the final, brother? – The stalwart man began to mock her.
– Fuck you … do you know where ?! Yes, I …
Such skirmishes were in honor of the participants of the tournaments. She was used to them. Therefore, she easily embarked on a squabble. This was not the first such competition in her life. I suspected that the meaning of these verbal battles was to provoke myself into a duel. Only she, for some reason, did not help much. And now, I looked through the lattice and took at this type and could not bring myself to hate him even as, not that fiercely. True, her rival did not look evil at all. He pranced around her on his snow-white horse and grinned white-toothed right in the face.
– What hatched ?! And take care of your teeth! Our round is the second. You won’t have fun for long! And sparkle your teeth too!
– Well, well! We will see! Rickety!
Alice shuddered at his last word. Really, they put little pads on the shoulders? No, it seemed like it was normal. After such tricks, her body began to look much more impressive. This is probably the type of joke was like this. Okay, you need to get ready, there, the first pair has already gone to their starting positions. She touched the horse and walked closer to the desired post. Max and Agatha followed her.
– Oh! Whatever other, what kind of knight, you, the princess, got caught. That is, my lord … If only that stooped one …
– Don’t be fooled, Max. I saw this gnarled one in battle. He’s still a fighter. And you yourself know that at this stage of the tournament there are no weaklings left at all.Perhaps you even know who will be the most extreme here.
– Yeah !!! – sighed her squire and involuntarily looked sideways at the princess.
– Shall we throw out the white pennant? A? – Agatha said. – Why risk your health so much? We reached the final! Participated in the construction! Can an unforeseen circumstance happen ?! The stomach, for example, got sick …
– What else! Surrender without a fight ?! This is not our way, – Alice frowned under the visor, and her companions could not see this, but they noticed how she clenched her fists tighter.
– But … I, after all …
– Tsyts! I said! – went to the starting position of her mistress. – Stand! There is no further move for you. Well, Hercules, go ahead! Don’t fail, my warhorse.
Then the sound of the bugle announced that it was her turn to fight. She pulled the bridle, kicked her heels and drove her horse towards the approaching white dot from the other end of the field. Already at a gallop I remembered the science of spear fighting and shifted my weight as taught. The enemy was getting closer. Another moment, and they converged on the length of the spears. Then there was a blow. I managed to notice that the tip with the now native pennant reached its goal. But her armor also took a hit. Yes, so powerful that the world around him spun and turned upside down. Only the sky was seen at the last moment before the second blow, and now on the ground. Oh, and she turned out to be firm! And then the light in his eyes faded. But, it seems, not for long.
I opened my eyes and found that what had taken her was thrown back. Who is that bent over her? And now he still pulls his hands to the helmet itself? Really, the same merry fellow who recently made fun of her thin complexion? Exactly, he! Although … Without a smile, he looked somehow different.Yes, no, he! The hair was definitely his. Now they fell into his eyes, as he bowed his head low. What is he? When did you manage to jump up to her? Well, her blow was so weak, or what ?! It turns out that the steppe dweller remained in the saddle and was now helping her? A shame!
– Hey boy! – said at that moment a recent opponent. – Yes, you are still a boy ?! Where did you go headlong ?! And where are the judges looking ?!
– Hey! Master! – Max’s voice was heard nearby, but Alice could not see him, as the whole view was covered by the face of the steppe bent over her.- Don’t touch anything. Then I myself! Let go, they tell you! This is already my concern.
– What is it ?! The servant is as upstart as his master!
– Take your hands off! – Agatha arrived in time. – We ourselves. We don’t need help.
– Yes, he will need a doctor, – the dark-haired man pulled away under the pressure of her friends, but did not go far. – Where are you, girl ?!
From this call Alice felt a panic so strong that she could even muffle the pain in her chest. I had time to think that she had been exposed. But the next conversation calmed me down a bit. No. It did not seem that the warrior saw in her a girl, as he called her a madman, a jerk and a fool. Even when they brought her into the tent, the deception did not open up. This was already strange. All because they were forced to remove the helmet from her dangling head, although this stubborn soldier did not leave them alone. The knight never left the tent. Why was it so impatient for him to help them ?!
– And where is your doctor? Where are you gone? Maybe you didn’t have it? Bulls! The game was invented! Take off your armor further, and now I’ll bring mine.I am now!
– Finally, he left, – stood over the body of his mistress Max, spread on the trestle bed. – Agatha! Help me. Lets go faster! Now this devil will bring. We need to quickly bring the princess to her senses.
“I’ve already… come… to myself,” she opened her eyes and saw friends around her. Then she looked at herself and noticed the braids disheveled in all directions. – He saw it all? – squeezed out this question and noticed two friendly nods. – And what did you say?
– Nothing! – Max spread his hands.- I ran after my doctor.
– I heard. And didn’t shout about deception? Didn’t he threaten to report us?
– This is strange! – Agatha sat down closer. “We were forced to start taking off our armor in front of him so that you could breathe, Your Highness.
– Scythe should have noticed for sure, – Max inserted his word. – And he: “Brat, boy!” What does it all mean?
– Magic! – sounded like thunder in the clear sky, a strange voice from behind the backs of friends, bending over the princess.
All three of them shuddered together.Agatha and Max turned in the direction of the entrance to the tent, and Alice turned her gaze there, since she was not yet able to move.
– Who are you ?! – asked, after a minute, in a man’s voice.
“Your salvation,” said the old man with a gray beard, who slowly approached her box. “Don’t strain, honey. Your skill will not work on me.
– What are you talking about? – frowned even more. – What is such a skill?
– Don’t you know? How ?! – sat down on the edge of the trestle bed. – Answer me a few questions.Honestly. Lying would be out of place here. I will say in advance that I will try to help the three of you quietly get out of this delicate situation. Will you agree to frankness in exchange for your salvation?
– Ask! – Alice made a gesture to her friends to calm down.
– A question for the young man, – the old man turned his head to Max. – When your mistress orders to call her a man, how do you see her?
– Her voice changes completely. How a real guy does it! – Agatha could not resist prompting.
– Did I ask you, girl? That’s the same! The guy says. What image do you have before your eyes then? Come on! Speak as it is! What are you shifting from foot to foot? Now that knight will appear again, and I will not have time to help.
– Speak, Max, – Alice ordered him, not really understanding where the old man was driving.
– Well … this is … How all the same we are brothers.
– I see. You have a vision in front of your eyes that this is not a girl, but kind of like her twin brother. So?
– Something similar … I don’t know for sure.
– And I see a girl! Agatha blurted out, but no one paid attention to her.
– How’s that? – the princess thought and tensed, but this only hurt more in her chest.
– Tell me, boy, do you have the same feeling now?
– Well … Yes!
– Does Your Highness have a tingling sensation in your fingertips now?
– I have a feeling that a spear was planted in my chest. Will it go?
– Don’t try, it won’t work on me.Better answer my question.
The Novosiltsevs’ estate in the village of Pervy Voin
Oryol region, Mtsensk district, village First Voin
The estate of the landowners Novosiltsevs “on the Warrior”
The estate is picturesquely located on the right bank of the Voinka River, a tributary of the Lisitsa River, 2 km from the village
First
Warrior of the Mtsensk district of the Oryol region. It is located 30 km from Orel along the Orel-Moscow highway.V.A. Livtsov
believes that the name of the river is associated with the events of the 16th century, when the advanced
outposts
Russian warriors who guarded the borders of the Moscow state from the raids of the steppe [1]. Researcher
historical toponymy of the Oryol region E.N. Ashikhmina writes that the rivers Bolshoi Voin (now the Kola River) and
Maly Voin gave the name to a number of settlements of the Mtsensk region – the village of First Voin, villages
Second
and the Third Warrior, however, the division by ordinal numbers in these settlements appeared only after
revolution of 1917.
Oryol region, Mtsensk district, with. Warrior 1st. Manor kon. XVIII – early. XIX centuries. Master plan
From the archival data provided by E.N. Ashikhmina, we learn that the First Warrior originated as a manor on the outskirts of the village
Psarevskaya, known back in the 16th century. The village stood “on the river on Bolshoy Voin and on the river on Maloye Voin under
Wet forest on the Horn. ” In those distant times, one of its landowners were the children of the boyar Torsukovs. Then
the village of Psarevskaya became known as the village of Psareva Rogu. In the 18th century, a “warrior village in the wasteland

Bolshoy Voin Manor was one of the richest and most beautiful in the county
In 1798, the village passed “by purchase” from Ardalion Aleksandrovich Torsukov to his sister Ekaterina
Alexandrovna, married to Novosiltseva. Until the 1917 revolution, the estate remained in the possession of a wealthy and
the numerous Novosiltsev family. They owned vast lands in Mtsensk, Bolkhov and
Little Arkhangelsk districts of the Oryol province, as well as in the Chernsky and Novosilsky districts of the Tula province, but
the center of their possessions was the comfortable estate “on the Warrior”, which was considered to be the ancestral one [3]. According to the testimony
contemporaries Bolshoy Voin estate was one of the richest and most beautiful in the county.
In 1841, according to the division of estates between the brothers, the village of Voin with the villages of Bogoroditskoye, Avchukh and Kornilovo was transferred to Peter
Petrovich Novosiltsev. He spent the last years of his life here, doing housekeeping. Here in his

After the death of Pyotr Petrovich, the estate passed to his son Ivan Petrovich (1827 – 1890).According to the data,
given in the “Sketches of the economy of private owners of the Mtsensk district” for 1887, the estate of I.P. Novosiltseva
numbered 3175.5 acres of land and ranked first in the county in size. An exemplary
farm: there was a stud farm, 127 working horses, 154 heads of cattle, locksmith workshops,
carpentry and blacksmithing. The orchard was a special source of income – the apple harvest was exported for sale to Oryol [5].

Architectural ensemble of the Novosiltsevs’ estate “on the Warrior”
Geometric Special Plan of the Mtsensk district of the Taichukovsky camp of the part of the village of Psarevu Rogu, which is now
the village of the Great War (1780 g.)
Currently, a part of the park with linden alleys, the main house, a gazebo, five
wings built at the end of the 18th – 19th centuries, a glacier cellar. Unfortunately, the front part of the park is almost
completely lost and re-planned, ponds and hydraulic structures disappeared, all small
forms, except for one rotunda. In the second half of the twentieth century, several new buildings were erected on the territory
sanatorium, a haphazard planting of trees and shrubs was carried out.The ravine is densely overgrown.
No restoration work was carried out.
The manor complex in the Novosiltsevs’ estate in the village of Voin, Mtsensk district was created, no doubt, on
for a long time, from the end of the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century. As follows from the entry
“Geometric special plan of the Mtsensk district of the Taichukovsky camp of the part of the village of Psarev Rogu, which
now the village of the Great Wars, repaired in 1780 “, a regular park was laid out in the estate,
the main manor house and the main outbuildings.
In the same document, the plan shows the location of the buildings in the estate and the layout of the regular park. TO
Unfortunately, according to this plan, it is impossible to find out the appearance of the buildings. Currently on
the territory of the estate, the main house dates back to the turn of the XIX – XX centuries.
In the June issue of “Oryol Provincial Gazette” for 1876, a message was published about the fire on May 28.
the same year: “Mtsensk district in the village.War, burned down from an unknown reason, a different building that belonged to
to the equestrian of the Court of His Majesty Novosiltsev, and a camp apartment, in the amount of 5,000 rubles. ” Perhaps from a fire
the old manor house was also damaged. This assumption indirectly confirms the fact that the house that we can
see today, was built on the site of an earlier building (probably from the 1st half of the 19th century), from which
a semi-basement with a vaulted ceiling, which is complex in plan, has been preserved.
Obviously, over its long history, the building has undergone many redevelopments, including after the fire of 1925
of the year.

The planning structure of the park is easy to read. Linden alleys of the northern and western parts are fully preserved

also repeat the old layout in the directions northeast – southwest and northwest – southeast.By
the eastern, northern and western borders are well preserved boundary ditch and rampart. Fragmentally preserved also

The park consisted of several zones, which were probably created at different times. The earliest and most

Oryol region. The system of alleys in the plan looked like an eight-pointed star enclosed in a quadrangle.
This quadrangle, in turn, was inscribed with a rhombus connecting the ends of the four ray paths through
one. Thus, the entire system formed 16 triangular bosquets. As a result of redevelopment,
produced in the twentieth century, this part of the park is almost completely lost.
At the northern border of the park at the end of the main alley, a rotunda pavilion, erected at the end of the 18th – beginning of
XIX century. It is formed by eight columns of the Tuscan order, which serve as a support for the entablature ring with
massive cornice in several ledges without complex profiling. Rotunda floor diameter – 7 m.

On the side of the southern facade, the so-called “lower park” adjoined the house, separated from the house by a low
forged semicircular fence. Its fragments, made in the Art Nouveau style, obviously at the beginning of the 20th century, and
the skeletons of the lampposts can also be seen today. In the center of the lower park there are the remains of a fountain with
marble base of the fountain bowl. The territory of this part of the park was divided into four parts
the crosshairs of the alleys. This part of the park was completed by a cascade of ponds (their dams are now eroded).
In the western and eastern parts of the park, linden alleys formed bosquets occupied by orchards.
In the steep bank of the Kola River, there is a glacier cellar, which is now heavily overgrown and has no approach. Below, near
with the riverbed, the foundations of the old steam pumping station remained, which pumped water from the river upstairs.
In the southeastern part, at the end of the extreme alley and in the southwestern outskirts of the estate, linden trees have been planted
in such a way that they formed in the plan two even circles with a diameter of 16 m.In such “living” pavilions stood
wooden sofas for relaxation. Most of the trees of the “green” gazebo over the river have survived to the present
time. Mtsensk ethnographer V.F. Anikanov mentions two more gazebos in the park. One, six-column,
stood to the left of the basement, in front of a steep descent to the river. From here there was a picturesque view of the river and the
the village of Konstantinovka. Another gazebo with six columns was arranged near the lower pond, on an earthen
embankments, 2 m high.We entered the gazebo along stone steps [1].
Linden was chosen as the basis for landscaping the park. It is planted in alleys at a distance of 1 to 3 m. The largest

How the Warrior changed in Hearthstone
1. Lore of the Warrior and its influence on class identity
What is ENT?
Lore (from the English Lore – knowledge) this term denotes the entire history of the Warcraft universe, based on the games Warcraft I, II, III, World of Warcraft and other cinematic and narrative sources
According to Wowhead Warrior is a powerful class that can take or deal significant amounts of damage. With the help of the Defense Warrior talent tree, he increases his survivability by equipping himself with a one-handed weapon, a shield, and wearing heavy armor. The other talent trees Arms and Fury are designed to deal damage. So Warriors can use two two-handed weapons in each hand, inflict a lot of AoE damage with the Whirlwind. The class uses a specific resource – Rage – which is accumulated when taking damage by the Warrior or when attacking.
Add to this the fact that Warriors are very simple in design: they are not endowed with an outstanding intelligence, but a melee class with considerable strength, which seeks to reach its target as quickly as possible with a dash and crush it with powerful blows. If the target is not feasible, Warrior is able to survive the massive damage he takes thanks to his heavy armor, shield and defensive abilities.
When the developers brought class ideas from World of Warcraft to Hearthstone, they retained this Warrior’s multidirectionality. On the one hand, he attacks with dashing creatures, a large number of weapons, tempo tools, on the other hand, the Warrior defends himself with the same weapons, accumulates armor and plays passively and slowly, counterattacking only in the later stages of the game.
The Fury talent line has found significant application in the Warrior’s cards: either he or his creatures become stronger when taking damage. This is how Battle Fury, Rampage, Armor Master, Furious Berserker, Mortal Strike, Grommash Hellscream appear. Fits perfectly with the concept of class and the mechanics of frenzy, which, of course, are common, but in the Warrior cards it is presented much more clearly. Naturally, if creatures of Warrior become stronger when taking damage, they need to somehow inflict this damage. This is how a seemingly strange idea appears for a powerful and crushing opponents with one blow of the Warrior: inflicting minor damage on your own or other people’s creatures, represented by Whirlwind, Inner Rage, Evil Overseer, and later other cards. But not only allied creatures perfectly interact with this mechanic, also applying at least one unit to the enemy’s creatures is important, because after that it is possible to apply Execution – the key card of the Warrior for a long time.
The Weapon talent tree, no matter how trivial, has resulted in a large number of weapons available to the Warrior. But besides this, the class also has access to ways to enhance not only attacks, but also the strength of their weapons, thanks to such cards as Improvement, Hobart Drek, Pirate Cultist. This is not a particularly promising and developed area for developers, since it is difficult to come up with something interesting with weapons, and it does not make much sense to create more and more of them, because you can put a large number of weapons in rare decks. The problem of the Warrior’s weapon will be discussed a little later.
Since Hearthstone has no equipment, no armor, the Defense talent branch was implemented with the help of armor – a kind of equivalent to health, only better than it.Armor itself is not a very useful resource, needed only for survival and delaying the death of a character, only the Warrior can somehow interact with this resource, though with just a few cards in the game, like Shield Bash, Siege Machine, Flurry of Wrath …
It is obvious that armor does not help in the offensive in any way, and dashes, frenzy and mechanics of the minor AoE effect – in defense. Therefore, from the very beginning in the very concept of the class there is a conflict that splits all the cards and archetypes of the Warrior into two different camps. The best option from the very beginning of Hearthstone was the option of defense, largely due to the insufficient number of cards in the collection, as well as due to the strength of the Warrior hero.
2. Warrior Hero Strength
Hero Warrior Strength – Shield Raise! – has a unique effect that does not affect the game situation in any way. In this regard, the Warrior has a lot in common with the Warlock, but at least he gets a card advantage and additional opportunities, unlike the Warrior. In the Arena Raise your shield! unconditionally considered the weakest hero power of all available due to the complete lack of its influence on the table, hand, whatever. In ladder, the situation is mitigated by Powerful Shield Bash, which makes armor a really important resource. However, the problem is that this resource, like Shield Slam, fits into the play style of only Warrior Control . Yes, additional armor is important for him, he can drag out games, ignore the minor presence of enemy creatures, transfer games to the late stage and endure.
But how are other class archetypes supposed to dispose of armor? Why is it needed for Pirate Warrior and other decks with dash, frenzy, rush and other offensive tools? For these decks Raise your shield! seems to be an extremely weak option, sometimes even preventing Warrior from winning (if Pirate Warrior used Mortal Strike, he wanted to lower his health to 12 points or lower in order to deal two additional points of damage, and armor only interferes in such a situation).
Without the ability to somehow realize the hero’s power, all non-control Warrior archetypes lost most of their potential. This was compounded from the outset by the small collection of cards available, as a result of which there were too many problems for the Non-Control Warrior to be in Hearthstone, and these archetypes did not gain significant acceptance in the ladder. Unlike the archetypes that Shield Raise! with Shield Bash and slow game strategy.
3.Basic Warrior Set
Basic Warrior Set
Warrior Basic Set includes maps that are simple and understandable for beginners. First of all, it has weapons: the Fire Ax and the Arcanite Reaper. If the second weapon was popular only in classic Hearthstone, as well as in one archetype later, then the first – the Fire Ax – became a kind of visiting card of Warrior in Hearthstone. This card was used by all the archetypes of the class in two copies before the nerf (although there was an exception during the Party in Karazhan meta) due to the incredibly favorable price-value ratio.Of course, the pre-nerfed Fire Ax is a dishonest and universal card, but almost all classes have something similar in the base or classic set (with the exception of Priest and Paladin, and this is precisely why these classes are weak in the Standard mode rotation system).
To some extent, all cheap weapons, including the Fire Ax, are very powerful. The point is how fast they provide. On the second turn, the Warrior can kill almost any creature with the Fire Ax, as soon as he takes it in his hands. But it is also important that the Warrior can do the same on the third turn or later, without spending mana, which can be invested in other cards (for example, you can put a creature). This creates an advantage in tempo, and also in terms of cards, because the weapon is capable of killing several creatures.
In addition to weapons, there are other great cards in the Warrior’s base set. The most powerful of these is Execution. The most effective point removal that the Warrior can easily apply to any enemy target due to the above-mentioned damage effects. The power of Execution is that it provides an incredible pace, because after its use there is still a significant amount of mana crystals that can be used to expose allied creatures or to eliminate other enemy creatures.
Two cards for completely different Warrior archetypes. Hero hit – for aggressive, Block with a shield – for control. And finally, two AoE effects: Whirlwind and Cleave.
Three dash cards are introduced: Kor’kron Warrior, Dash, and Warsong Commander. All of them are unlike each other and are not used by the same archetype, however, at one time, each card from this trinity found its place in the best decks of the ladder.
In its current state, Charge is the strangest card in the game. When called Charge, the card gives a charge, but there is nothing about the charge in the description of the card. All this can be easily explained by the fact that there was no onslaught at the time of the Dash nerf, but now the map looks strange anyway.
4.Classic Warrior Set
Warrior Classic Set
Warrior is the only class in Hearthstone to have all the Classic Set cards in the best ladder decks. The same could be said about the basic set of the Warrior, if everything had not been spoiled by the Cleave Strike. The classic set cards still look very differently directed. None of them are universal or suitable for all class archetypes (unlike the Core Set, where the Fire Ax was), although this is probably more a Blizzard achievement than an omission. Not only did they manage to create 15 used classic cards, but they managed to balance them so that none was too strong and flexible, but each archetype was able to take something of its own.
Control Warrior is content with the classic set with Shield Slam, Brawl, Slam Slam, Bloody Howl and Grommash Hellscream. The last card often acts as a finisher in combination with the Evil Overseer (Alexstrasza is preliminarily played), and the former act as excellent point and AoE removals. Moreover, these point removal from the Control Warrior are extremely convenient, because they help to get rid of targets with any health reserve, even very high, which is convenient against, for example, Edwin VanCleef or other creatures. And the Warrior has a lot of such removals: Execution, Powerful shield blow, Brawl.
Agro Warrior and other high-tempo-oriented class archetypes use Upgrade, Furious Berserker, Mortal Strike, Arathi the Gunsmith. And also sometimes Inner Rage, the Evil Overseer.
Strong for the Warrior common cards of the classic set
OTK Warrior and other combo archetypes of the class used the cards Inner Rage, Battle Fury, Rampage, Evil Overseer, Commander’s Shout, Armor Master and others. These archetypes were extremely difficult to perform and the cheap spells and creatures listed above work well with each other, but not separately.
Among the neutral cards of the classic set that are excellent for the Warrior, it is possible to note the Acolyte of Pain, which works well with the effects of minor damage to allied creatures, Enraged Worgen – the basis of the Warrior’s OTK , Furious Pyromancer – a card that will show itself in the Warrior’s decks only after 2 years after the release of Hearthstone and Alexstrasza, who acts as a support for the victory of Control Warrior .There are some other common cards that are used periodically by the class.

Classic Hearhstone
Classic Hearhstone – a long period from the start of the open beta for the European region until the release of the first adventure The Curse of Naxxaramas.Already on March 11, 2014, the game was officially released for personal computers, after completing open testing.
As mentioned above, the most obvious class archetype choice is Control Warrior . This is due to the strength of the hero, the most powerful cards in the classic and basic set, as well as the meta of that time, in which Control Warrior felt good. Then his collection of cards had several ways to win this archetype. The first is Alexstrasza, which reduces the opponent’s health to 15 points, and then a combination of Grommash Hellscream and the Evil Overseer, which did 12 points of damage. It remained to find somewhere 3 points of damage, and also take care that the opponent did not restore his health. The second way to win is to extract more benefit from the deck than the opponent, this was achieved thanks to a large number of heavy creatures. They could also simply crush the enemy if he did not have an answer. So the first Control Warriors used an impressive number of heavy legendary creatures: Sylvanas Windrunner, Cairne Bloodhoof, Baron Geddon, Ragnaros, Grommash Hellscream, Alexstrasza and others. In addition, a large number of epic cards were needed: Shield Slam, Brawl, Bloody Howl. So the deck was extremely expensive, especially considering that all players were just starting their journey and did not acquire an impressive collection of cards. Therefore, Warrior Control of those times was nicknamed p2w Warrior.
What does p2w Warrior mean?
P2w Warrior (from English pay to win – “pay to win”) – got its name from the high cost of legendary cards, for which you had to pay a fair amount of arcane dust.At the same time, it was believed that such a Warrior is the strongest deck in Hearthstone, and he was deliberately created so strong and expensive so that players would invest money if they wanted to win

Together with Control Warrior , OTK Warrior appeared in the game since the beta test – a combo archetype that uses the synergy of several cards in a deck to inflict lethal damage from an empty table in one turn, even if the enemy has 30 or more health units. This combo is currently unavailable due to the nerf on the Charge card.
Combination OTK Warrior
Such a Warrior deck first of all needed a quick search of the deck in order to find parts of the combination as soon as possible, as well as tools for survival in order to stretch the time again for the same card search purposes. All this made the OTK Warrior deck extremely difficult to manage, with few players achieving outstanding results.

Additional information
The supplement was released on July 23, 2014. The players now have access to four districts (Spider, Plague, Military, Abomination) and the Lair of the Ice Serpent, as well as class trials familiar from the following adventures. After completing the entire adventure, you could receive 30 cards. Read more about the bosses here, and here you can learn more about the history of this sinister place. The Curse of Naxxramas cards are still considered the most successful adventure cards ever in Hearthstone history.
The Curse of Naxxaramas presented the Warrior with perhaps the strongest class card of the nine characters. Death Bite is also one of the most powerful weapons in Hearthstone. And the point here is not only in the characteristics of 4/2, but also in the death rattle of weapons, which is combined with Execution, and with Servant of Pain, and with Grommash Hellscream and with other Warrior cards. In addition, this deathrattle in the form of a minor AoE effect helped to cope with the most popular 5 drops with 5 health points: Lothib and Slime Eater.
Speaking of this pair, they have found a place in most decks Warrior Control , especially Slime Belcher has become an excellent anti-aggro tool, firmly entrenched in archetype assemblies. During the Curse of Naxxaramas meta, Control Warriors also used another adventure card – Unstable Ghoul – to contain the aggression of Control, Unstable Ghoul, which worked well with the Armor Master, and also served as another source of minor AoE damage.
The new cards combined with the old tools made Warrior ‘s Control even stronger, as a result of which this archetype completely took over the class in question. Of course, there was still the problem of the cost of the deck, which even rose after the release of the Curse of Naxxaramas, as a result, not many could afford Warrior Control .

It can be noted that often Control Warriors began to use the effects of silence, which is associated with the meta of that time, filled with creatures with death rattles, Gravediggers and other cards that you want to impose silence on.
There were other Warrior archetypes listed above, but they could only be content with Deathbite from new products, which was not always enough to make a good deck.
7. Warrior and Meta Goblins and Dwarfs
Warrior Cards: Goblins and Dwarves
09.12.2014-02.04.2015
- Control Warrior
- OTK Warrior
- Agro Warrior
Additional information
The supplement was released on December 09, 2014.Over 120 cards were received by players with Goblins and Dwarfs. It was in this expansion that Dr. Boom appeared and is still missed by many players. Here you can take a look at the best expansion cards.
With Goblins and Dwarves, the Warrior received 8 class cards, among which there were not particularly new ideas for the class. But there were a few old ones: War Robot (frenzy), Ogre War Hammer (the weapon, by the way, is probably the worst in the game), Siege Engine and Defenders (getting armor and interacting with it), Crush (synergy with creatures with incomplete health ).Like the rest of the classes, some synergy of mechanisms appeared (Rusty Golem and Fighting Robot), however, very poorly expressed. The remaining epic and legendary cards have a very original effect, unlike the others in the Warrior or other classes. We are talking about the Leaping Shuriken and the Iron Giant. This pair, unfortunately, could not find a spot in the best decks of the class, although Blizzard can be commended for the interesting mechanics.
Of all this loosely coupled set of cards, the only applicable one turned out to be Defenders – this is an excellent creature for Warrior Control , providing survivability, significant threat on the table, and also synergizing with Shield Slam.
Of the neutral cards, only Dr. Boom can be noted. This seventh drop fits perfectly into the Warrior deck, as well as all other decks in Hearthstone. The piloted shredder was also used by the Warriors , but much later.
With only Control Warrior getting an excellent card, it is not surprising that only Control Warrior remained in the ladder. The only class archetype was during the Goblins and Dwarves meta, perhaps at its peak.At the same time, due to the aggressiveness of the meta and the receipt of the most effective cards for 4, 5 and 6 mana crystals Control Warrior becomes a little easier, there are fewer expensive legendary cards, and the archetype is entirely focused on survival, and not on pressure from heavy creatures, although to complete refusal from them Control Warrior is still very far away.

Warrior Cards: Blackrock Meta

- Cartridge Warrior
- Control Warrior
- OTK Warrior
Additional information
The supplement was released on April 02, 2015.As in the case of Naxxramas, 5 wings awaited players, as well as class tests. A total of 31 new cards can be obtained. This adventure was remembered for a huge number of different dragons. Here you can find all the information on bosses, wings and other aspects of Blackrock Mountain. And here are all the cards for this adventure.
Blackrock Mountain was the first addition to significantly change the power of the Warrior archetypes. The all-new combo archetype – Patron Warrior – has become one of the most popular decks in the meta and in tournaments. And to create it, the Warrior only needed two new cards.
And the Warrior received these cards among the general ones. Grim Regular and Emperor Thaurissan fit perfectly into the Warrior deck, interacting with minor AoE effects, Warsong Commander and Furious Berserker, creating combinations with massive amounts of damage. At the same time, the class received a good card – Retribution, but it did not find its place in Patron Warrior , as well as in Control Warrior at the beginning, but in the future Retribution will become an integral part of the last archetype.
What does Patron Warrior mean?
Patron Warrior gets its name from the foundational card of the archetype – the Grim Regular, which in English is called Grim patron.
What was special about Cartridge Warrior ? Why did he become so much stronger than another combo deck of class: OTK Warrior ? The thing is that the latter, unlike the first, used one way to win: collect the necessary cards and use them in the correct sequence. It was different with the Patron Warrior. He could also win with an OTK combo, collecting Warsong Commander, Furious Berserkers, AoE effects and other cards in his hand, and then making them cheaper by Emperor Thaurissan. And the more creatures the opponent had on the table, the better the combo worked thanks to the Enraged Berserkers buff when damaging any creature on the table. But besides this Patron Warrior could win by simply capturing the table, especially if the opponent did not have AoE cleans, like Zoolok, for example.Very easily, on the fifth turn, the Warrior Patron could put four Dark Regulars on the table, for this, in addition to them, only Inner Rage and some kind of AoE effect from the Whirlwind or Death Bite were needed. And if these Grim Patrons are not removed from the table, they will multiply the next turn, filling all the available seven places.
And besides that, the flexibility of Warrior Cartridge was different. He could get out of losing situations again in two ways. The first is to endure and look for parts of the combination, so that, using the full table of the enemy, inflict lethal damage with the Furious Berserker in combination with the Warsong Commander. If the Cartridge Warrior did not find the necessary cards, or was hindered, for example, by the Ice Barrier, then the archetype could get a huge amount of armor in one move with the help of the Armor Master, Dark Regulars and minor AoE effects, and only then play from the table.
As a result, versatility, flexibility, a small number of awkward match-ups, the ability to inflict huge damage made the Warrior Cartridge the strongest archetype in Hearthstone. Although it is important to note that despite its popularity, the deck had a low ladder win rate (less than 50%), apart from the top ranks of the legend. This is due to the dependence of the results on the execution level. Only the most experienced players could determine exactly how they would come to victory in this duel and in this situation, when exactly should be used trump cards in the form of the Commander of Warsong and creatures with 3 units or less attack, how to manage both point and AoE removals in the deck, as well as Inner Rage.
Moreover, deck Cartridge Warrior required making quick decisions, since sometimes key moves took quite a long time, even if the player did not spend a lot of time thinking. This is due to the long animation of Grim Regulars, Furious Berserkers, Armor Master and other cards. In the video below, you can see a demonstration of the longest move Cartridge Warrior, which took place at one of the tournaments of those times.
Several variants of the deck Warrior Cartridge were used, some were focused on busting the deck, some on defensive mechanics.

Emperor Thaurissan found a place not only in the Warrior’s Patron deck and in some variations of Warrior’s Control. The innovation was enthusiastically received by OTK Warrior, for whom the reduction in the price of key cards for a combination is extremely important. Now the limit for inflicting damage from an empty table has increased significantly, along with this, the flexibility of the archetype has increased, which was able to quickly implement its game plan. However, there was no need for OTK Warrior during the Blackrock meta, because Patron Warrior could do the same thing, and many other things that OTK Warrior cannot do. But this archetype is not over yet, it will again make its way into the ladder much later.
9.Warrior and Meta of the Grand Tournament
Warrior Cards: Big Tournament
08/24/2015 – 11/13/2015
- Cartridge Warrior
- Control Warrior
- Dragon Warrior
- Fatig Warrior
Additional information
The add-on was released on August 24, 2015. With it you could get 132 new cards. An important fact: with this addition, the Inspiration mechanic was introduced (the effect is activated when using the hero’s power). Here you can see all the maps of the Grand Tournament, and if you want to get acquainted with this addition in general, then you should go here and here.
The big tournament brought Warrior , finally, a new idea for the class, which had not been used by the developers before. Unfortunately, this idea turned out to be the Warrior on provocations. The first cards for him are Strengthen, Sparring Partner and Royal Champion. All this trinity looks very inexpressive, but this is not the main problem. As you will see below, Blizzard continued to issue Taunt Warrior cards for a very long time. And it’s not even that these cards have always been bad. Of course, they are not too strong, take at least the Sparring Partner or the Royal Champion – fading against the background of the Fiery Ax. Plus, all these cards with the synergy of provocations are extremely weak in themselves, only with a successful coincidence of circumstances all of them will be in the Warrior’s hand in time.
But the most important thing that is bad about Warrior on provocation is the very idea of the Warrior on provocation. Think, why does a Warrior defend himself so thoroughly? Yes, he hits with a weapon and spends a fair amount of health, but doesn’t he have ways to replenish it? And that’s half the trouble. The main problem is the condition under which the Warrior on provocation must reveal his potential. He can field several taunting creatures and then strengthen them, he can defend himself with the Save the King card! (yes, she has not yet appeared in Hearthstone during the Big Tournament, however, it reflects the concept of the archetype well), that is, such a Warrior initially puts himself in a losing position, initially defends himself and responds to enemy threats not with removal, but with other creatures with provocation in the hope. that the enemy with them is beneficial for the Warrior, exchanges. But after all, the enemy will trade profitably for himself, using point or AoE removal, or simply actions that are beneficial for him, since the Warrior will prevail on provocations?
It is worth concluding that Warrior on provocations is a worthless archetype. This is a kind of defense for the sake of defense, completely unnecessary for a class with a mass of other defensive tools. And, fortunately, after many additions, the developers realized their mistakes and stopped “churning” cards for the Taunt Warrior, giving the idea of this archetype to the Druid (compare Creeping Plague and Save the King! And feel the difference).Interestingly, this is not the first time a Druid has stolen part of his identity from a Warrior, which is perhaps not very logical and correct. At least it was definitely wrong in the second case, when the Druid began to accumulate armor much better than the Warrior, who, after the next rotation and nerfs, almost lost worthy cards for this task.
There was some good news for the Warrior in the Grand Tournament, not just the idea of Taunt Warrior – the worst archetype in the game. For example, the developers drew attention to the lack of dragon synergy in Black Mountain, so they gave the Warrior the Protector of Alexstrasza – the strongest second drop.Control Warrior gained Stun and Maryele Purehearted – integral cards of the archetype, without which it was difficult to imagine him. The remaining cards did not find any use at all (Fighter from Ogrimmar, Leader of the Magnataurs, Thunderstorm of the Seas – all three refer to the classic ideas of the Warrior: enhancing weapons or AoE effects), or found very narrow application later (Varian Wrynn).
Naturally, nothing new was received Patron Warrior – the main disturber of the peace and balance of the meta of those times. The Secret Paladin was added to it after the Big Tournament. However, the Patron Warrior didn’t need anything, his deck was perfectly honed, verified and matched to the current meta.

As a result, a month before the end of the Big Tournament meta, the developers finally implemented the nerf Warrior Cartridge . Only one card needed to be changed in order to significantly weaken the archetype. The Warsong Commander was hit.
Thus, Cartridge Warrior has lost the ability to inflict lethal damage from an empty table with the help of the Grim Regents and the Furious Berserker. Although many predicted the final death of the archetype, he survived, although he became significantly weaker. More details about the updated Patron Warrior will be discussed in the next section.
Risen from oblivion Control Warrior thanks to Maryele Purehearted and Stun. Not to say that before the Warsong Commander nerf he was a popular archetype, but later – yes.Control The Warrior was still targeting a few heavy creatures, the new Grand Tournament maps greatly helped him survive and fight pressure.

Mariel Pureheart combined with other cards gave birth to a new subspecies of Control Warrior – Fatig Warrior.
What is Fatigue?
Fatigue – from the English. fatigue – tiredness. Thus, the Fatig deck is the one that plays to the point of fatigue, bringing the opponent closer to it with the help of the Lord of Death, Vash’ir oracles and other similar cards.
This archetype did not use heavy legendary creatures to pressure in the late game, its purpose was solely to protect with the help of removal and provocations, as well as to accumulate the maximum amount of armor. As a result, both the Warrior and his opponent sooner or later came to fatigue, and at this stage, a huge amount of armor helped the Warrior to survive this period, unlike his opponent.

Additional Information
The supplement was released on November 13, 2015. Players went through this adventure with four assistants who found themselves in common legendary Hearthstone cards. These are Reno Jackson, Brann Bronzebeard, Sir Finley Mrrgglton and Eliza Stargazer. In this adventure, the excavation mechanic has become available (the choice of one card from three random, limited by class or other additional conditions). In the League of Explorers, players received 45 new cards, which you can check out here. And here you will get general information about the expansion, as well as detailed information about bosses, their abilities and much more.
In the League of Explorers Warrior continued to receive taunting creatures, although they have already become quite good. If the Obsidian Crusher never found its place in the ladder (the main reason for this is the presence of the seventh and eighth better drops), then the Furious Macaque became part of the strongest Warrior archetype, but only six months after its appearance. The final Warrior class card in this adventure is Cursed Blade. On the one hand, the card has a great idea – to sacrifice its health for an additional benefit, very much in the spirit of the Warrior, on the other hand, this sacrifice is too high, and the benefit received is low. Everything becomes even worse in relation to the Cursed Blade, if we compare it with the same Fire Ax, even if it cost 2 mana crystals, but it brought more benefits than harm.
More and more interesting in neutral adventure maps.First of all, it fits perfectly into the deck Warrior Control Eliza Stargazer. This one card seriously changed the archetype, confirming the previously outlined trend of abandoning heavy legendary creatures. The second strong card is Sir Finley Mrrgglton, this little murloc helps not control the Warrior archetypes to find another hero power that does at least something. It is thanks to Sir Finley Mrrgglton that more aggressive class decks appear in the meta, and they become really strong.
Despite losing the ability to deal massive amounts of damage from an empty table, the Warrior Patron remains a significant force in the ladder. The deck’s style of play, however, has changed. The Warrior patron has become a kind of midrange archetype that crushes strong creatures in the middle stage of the game, and also has several heavy threat-finishers. Therefore, the assemblies include the Piloted Shredder, Loatheb, Doctor Boom, Grommash Hellscream. The Warrior patron was still very strong against aggression, as in these match-ups he often did not use the Warsong Commander, but only managed to get by with the Dark Regulars and ways to “spin” them.

Control Warrior changed dramatically after the League of Explorers. Even in the last expansion, Fatig Warriors began to appear, not using heavy legendary creatures, but now, with the advent of Eliza Stargazer, this has become the main trend of the archetype. The Warrior could get all the necessary legendary heavy creatures after playing the Golden Monkey, and until that moment he concentrated on restraining the opponent’s aggression, using the maximum of defensive tools.

11. Warrior and Meta Awakenings of the Old Gods
27.04.2016 – 12.08.2016
- Cartridge Warrior
- Tempo Warrior
- Dragon Warrior
- Control Warrior
- K’Tun Warrior
- Pirate Warrior
- OTK Warrior
Additional Information
Supplement Released April 27, 2016 .It was remembered by the players for two things: the introduction of the four Old Gods into the game (K’Tun, Yogg-Saron, I’Sharaj, N’Zoth), and also by the fact that the cards of Naxxramas and the Goblins and Dwarves went to Free mode. With this addition, players received 134 new cards , you can find them here. You can find general information about the Awakening of the Old Gods here and here.
Along with the Awakening of the Old Gods, many significant events have happened in Hearthstone. First, there was a massive change in the balance of cards, which, however, almost did not affect the Warrior directly.Previously, he only used the Experienced Hunter, and then not very often. The rebalancing of the cards seriously weakened other problematic archetypes for the Warrior, in particular Midrange Druid.
what cards the Warrior lost after the rotation of Standard mode
Second, the first ever rotation of Standard mode took place. And here the changes for the Warrior were felt much more clearly. The class has lost a universal and irreplaceable card that was used by all archetypes – Death Bite. At the same time Control Warrior lost the Protector, Slime Belcher, Lord of Death. It would seem that this is not a very large list, but the loss of these cards had a serious impact on the class.
new Warrior cards
Thirdly, a lot of new cards, both class and general, were added, which caused a stir in the alignment of forces of the Warrior archetypes. In addition, these archetypes suddenly turned out to be a lot. But first you need to deal with the cards themselves.
A surprisingly large number of strong class cards were received by the Warrior, moreover, they are strong for different archetypes. Blood and Pus is a flexible, cheap spell that will bring an old and forgotten archetype back into the game, as well as help create several new ones.Cheap Pirates are perfect for the aggressive archetype that was just beginning to show up in the meta, Raging Ghoul is a feature card for Warrior Cartridge and Warrior Control , which helps to build up the pace, Blood Warriors is a very situational map that will find its use later … Bloodhoof Brave turned out to be a good fourth drop for both slow and tempo archetypes. Ancient shield bearer is the main card of K’Tun Warrior, a kind of analogue of the Protector, Malkorok is the seventh drop for tempo decks of the class.
The only unused card in the set is Grasping Tentacles. Probably, the too strong Death Bite turned out to be a kind of inoculation for the developers, who since then have not given the Warrior a single good weapon, believing that the class will get by with the Fire Ax. On the one hand, they are right, you do not need to create too versatile weapons, like the Bite of Death, especially if there is a Fire Ax in the basic set, on the other hand, what the developers released after – the weapons are too weak, they are not suitable for any a serious Warrior archetype, which is perhaps not very good.
Among the neutral cards, of course, we can note the ancient gods and the cards that interact with them. Every ancient god, except for E’Shaarj, found its place in various Warrior assemblies, most often Warrior Control, but there were other examples, for example, the Warrior Patron with Yogg-Saron.
Speaking of Warrior Patron . This archetype suffered the most from the loss of Death Bite, as it became much more difficult to “spin rounds” by the fifth turn. The Warrior patron initially resisted in the meta, helped players quickly pass low ranks filled with aggressive decks, but by the end of the expansion it was completely forgotten. This once powerful archetype practically ceased to exist after the Awakening of the Old Gods, only faint echoes of its former strength were traced in all decks with Grim Regulars after.
11.1 Deck Cartridge Warrior
11.1 Deck Warrior Cartridge

Of course, other decks came to replace it. First, a new archetype came into vogue – Tempo Warrior . In some ways, it resembled Warrior Cartridge – a strong middle stage of the game, similar cards, but there were no Grim Regulars in the builds, but other strong creatures appeared for each mana crystal up to the tenth turn, in which, in an ideal scenario, on Varian Wrynn appeared on the table, along with several other creatures.
11.2 Tempo Warrior Deck
11.2 Tempo Warrior Deck
Tempo Warrior Deck
Tempo Warrior became the strongest archetype in the game for a while, but his dominance was soon prevented by a related and very similar deck. Once upon a time, at the time of the Grand Tournament, the Dragon Warrior was a kind of control Warrior, but players have come to the conclusion that dragons are better suited to decks faster. So someone decided to use them in the Tempo Warrior, and the result exceeded all expectations.
11.3 Dragon Warrior Deck
11.3 Dragon Warrior Deck
Dragon Warrior Deck
In general, the new Dragon Warrior did the same as Tempo Warrior: he fielded the strongest creatures for his mana cost every turn, starting with Protector Alexstrasza, ending with Ragnaros, Onyxia or Deathwing. A fast pace was also ensured by Execution, which helped to get rid of a serious threat at a low cost in order to continue the pressure. The dragon warrior performed well against both aggressive archetypes and control, which made him the strongest deck of the Awakening of the Ancient Gods.
The Control Warrior also tried to find new ways to counter the meta. However, the classic version of it lost not only the Death Bite, but also the Protector. It turned out that this sixth drop was very important for the archetype, which from now on became difficult to implement Shield Slam, and it also became more difficult to fight aggression. They tried to fix the situation with additional provocations, Heralds of Doom, N’Zoth and other cards, but in general we can say that Control Warrior felt extremely insecure in the Awakening of the Ancient Gods meta.
11.4 Deck Control Warrior
11.4 Deck Warrior Control
Warrior Control Deck
But other subtypes of the archetype also appeared. For example, K’Tun Warrior used an ancient god either as a finisher or as a table clearing, and in the middle stage of the game he could boast of good, but not the best, cult creatures. The advantage of the K’Tun Warrior was that he received an analogue of the Defender, which means he fought the aggression better, could more easily implement the Powerful Shield Blow.Plus, the Ancient Shieldbearer was a good threat in and of itself. Some builds used Emperor Thaurissan to reduce the cost of Doomcaller and Brann Bronzebeard cards, and they, in turn, shuffled two additional K’Tuns into the Warrior deck. This was extremely beneficial against slow decks without a transformation effect, but not beneficial against aggression or, for example, the Shaman’s Midrange.

Two cheap pirates in the Awakening of the Ancient Gods finally pushed another old, but traditionally weak archetype – Agro Warrior, which from that moment began to always be used by pirates, as a result received the name Pirate Warrior .In those days, the deck was not yet good enough; Agro Shaman or Zoolok coped with the goal of crushing the enemy as quickly as possible. But the advantage of the Pirate Warrior was its cheapness, it was easy even for beginners to create such a deck.
11.6 Deck Pirate Warrior
11.6 Deck Pirate Warrior

And, finally, the last archetype of the Warrior, who rose from oblivion – OTK Warrior . The idea of killing the enemy with the Enraged Worgen in one move came to players’ minds back in the days of classic Hearthstone, but only now the archetype has received really strong and good cards. This is not only about Emperor Thaurissan, but also about the Blood and Pus spell. It would seem that this card for one mana crystal is nothing special, but it allowed the use of a fundamentally new style of play.
In OTK Warrior , the Furious Pyromancer, the Commander’s Shout and a lot of cheap spells appear that help the two above-mentioned cards deal a huge amount of AoE damage. After Battle Fury, Acolyte of Pain and other cards helped sort the deck in order to find new resources to clear the table or part of the combination. And the new OTK Warrior style of play turned out to be much more effective than the old one, based on clearing the table with Powerful Shield Bash and Brawls, because in the case of the Furious Pyromancer and the Commander’s Shout, creatures remained on the table after, albeit with only one unit of health. So OTK Warrior could make extremely strong and effective moves, in which he cleared the opponent’s table, occupied his half with creatures, and also went over the deck.

You can clearly see how diverse the class became after the Awakening of the ancient gods – a lot of new ideas and archetypes. The developers really did their best in working out the Warrior cards of this add-on. It helped a lot that they did not bend their line with the synergy of provocation, in addition, all the new cards were not designed for any one archetype, which gave rise to such a variety of play styles. Of course, not all of them were well distributed in ladder, but this is not the biggest problem.

Warrior Cards: Party in Karazhan
08/02/2016 – 12/01/2016
- Dragon Warrior
- Control Warrior
- K’Tun Warrior
- Combo Warrior
- Pirate Warrior
Additional Information
Supplement Released August 12, 2016 . In this adventure, players received 45 new cards (go here to see them).Since the Party in Karazhan is relatively new, you may not have completed the adventure in Heroic mode yet, then these articles will come in handy for you:
A Party in Karazhan brought the Warrior three new cards. One of them is Save the King! – was intended for the very Warrior on provocations, who never appeared in the ladder. The second – The Fool’s Misfortune – is the first attempt to create a good situational weapon for the Warrior. In general, the Fool’s Misfortune is weak in itself, and only the Illusionist makes this weapon good, but few archetypes can afford to use both cards without losing quality. The third card – Portal: Ironforge – turned out to be not as bad as the previous ones, since the Control to the Warrior after the loss of the Defender was sorely lacking an additional source of armor and presence on the table. Now Portal: Ironforge has significantly improved the position of Control Warrior in the new meta.
Several community adventure cards fit very well with the Warrior archetypes. For example, Barnes performed well in the N’Zoth Warrior deck, and the Overseer became the basis of the updated Dragon Warrior, who from now on began to use both murlocs and beasts, albeit in modest numbers. And another interesting exotic innovation is the Magic Giants in the Warrior Combo deck, which will be discussed later.
The leader in the new meta at first continued to be Dragon Warrior , who, due to the Overseer, began to use the Furious Macaque and Sir Finley Mrrgglton (some builds previously abandoned him), so the archetype had a good source of deck brute force, which he had not previously enough. Although the Dragon Warrior did not hold the leading position after the Party in Karazhan, he still remained a significant force in the ladder, at least until the card balance changed.

Control Warrior has become more popular in the Parties in Karazhan meta not only because of Portal: Ironforge, but also because of the new meta. The most powerful archetype then was the Midrange Shaman, who had only two equals and one losing match-up. Control Warrior is the same equal match-up in which both could win. Naturally, the assemblies and Control of the Warrior and Midrange Shaman adjusted to the confrontation with each other, so the Control Warrior began to increasingly use Yogg-Saron, who helped clear the table from totems and other threats of the opponent, because sometimes there were not enough Brawls and Baron Geddon.

Combo Warrior is an original deck invented by the famous experimenter Rage. The idea of Warrior Combo is to survive and go over the deck with the already known combination of Furious Pyromancer and Commander’s Shout, and at the late stage of the game put up a large number of Magic Giants, additional copies of which can be obtained thanks to the Blood Warriors card. And although this assembly did not receive sufficient distribution in the ladder (after all, only Rage himself and a few other players could pilot it well), it became popular thanks to the esportsman HotMEOWTH, who used the Warrior Combo in his line-up at BlizzCon 2016, even if this decision was not helped the American player win the tournament.

Warrior OTC was interrupted on October 3, 2016, when Blizzard implemented another map balance change, as a result of which the Warrior lost his old Dash and Execute.
Dash was specially modified by Blizzard in order to destroy the Warrior OTK, since, in their opinion, this archetype had a bad effect on the game, because its users were unpleasant to die unexpectedly and without any opportunity to fix it.
Execution has undergone changes in many respects due to the strength of the Warrior on Dragons, who received a serious jump in pace, destroying an enemy creature in just 1 mana crystal. Control Warrior was not significantly affected by the Execution nerf, he still continued to use two copies of this powerful spell, despite the price increase.
The last unmarked archetype is Pirate Warrior . Before the card balance change, it was poorly represented in the ladder, but after that it became the most popular aggressive deck in the meta, since everyone else simply nerfed (for example, Agro Shaman).

12/01/2016 – 04/06/2017
- Pirate Warrior
- Dragon Warrior
- Control Warrior
Additional Information
Supplement Released 01 December 2016 .In it, players saw 132 new cards , you can find all of them here. A novelty of the add-on was the division of all classes into three factions, each of which has its own mechanics, traits and faction cards. The warrior joined the Rusty Buogai faction, which uses the mechanics of enhancing the characteristics of creatures in hand. General information about Gadgetzan can be found here. If you have just started playing Hearthstone, you do not have many cards yet, then this is the place for you.
Warrior is the only class of Rusty Bugs that, after the Bad City of Gadgetzan, feels confident in the ladder. And the point is not that he has mastered the mechanics of his faction well, no, it is weak, of course, but the Warrior became very friendly with the new pirates, who determined the popularity of the archetype. We are talking, of course, about a pair of Small Buccaneer and Pirate Scout, which fit into the assemblies not only of the Pirate Warrior, but also of the Warrior on Dragons, who, among other things, also became partly the Warrior on Pirates.
Control Warrior got two good cards. Street Armor has replaced Portal: Ironforge, this fifth drop is the best way to fight the aggression that is the meta of the Grim City of Gadgetzan.Another great card is Mud Rat, which works great with cheap point removes and Brawl. The rest of the Warrior class cards are either a provocation synergy or a Rusty Buhay synergy, that is, nothing particularly effective and useful, unfortunately.
The Pirate Warrior was the first archetype to appear on the Gadgetzan scene. In the early days, this deck crushed the ladder, crushing everyone in its path. Only two new first drops made the Pirate Warrior the strongest archetype, which can end the game as early as 4-5 moves.Only a few weeks later, players found another strongest aggressive deck, which shifted the Warrior Pirate to the second most popular deck, where it remained until the next expansion.
First build Pirate Warrior looked like this, it can be considered a classic.

The Dragon Warrior was not so popular. He became more aggressive and faster thanks to the pirates, but the middle path between aggression and pace is not as effective as simple aggression. The archetype most often refuses Execution and expects to get rid of enemy threats with weapons and creatures.

Control Warrior began to appear in the meta right away, for this it took him a month of complete oblivion. The difficulties of this archetype then – losing match-ups with Jade archetypes, Renolock (due to Lord Jaraxus) and Reno Mage, that is, with a huge number of popular decks. But the Control Warrior in those days was just great against the leaders of the Agro Shaman and the Pirate Warrior, and there were also good chances with Miracle the Rogue.

Nerf of the Small Buccaneer, of course, weakened the Pirate Warrior deck, as it deprived him of the best first drop in the game, but, as many feared, nothing dramatic and terrible happened to the Pirate Warrior or Agro Shaman. They remained the strongest archetypes of the class, even if they abandoned the Petty Buccaneer in favor of other strong cards.

Add-on was released April 6, 2017 , and with it Standard mode rotation happened, as a result of which the Blackrock, Grand Tournament and Explorers’ League cards went to Free.In addition, the developers have introduced the Hall of Fame into the game – you can find out what it is and what cards are currently placed in it here. In the Expedition to Un’Goro, players saw a lot of innovations: a new type of cards – class legendary tasks, adaptation mechanics and a new type of creatures – elementals with special synergy. You can find all the add-on cards in this article.
To begin with, it is important to note what exactly the Warrior lost with the rotation of Standard Mode: the list is impressive.
Many tools have lost Control Warrior.Although the archetype that has existed since the days of classic Hearthstone has recovered from such losses, since the beginning of the Year of the Mammoth it has existed only somewhere in the outskirts of the ladder. To some extent, it remains there to this day, and in its place came other varieties of slow Warrior decks, for example, the Warrior Quest on the Expedition to Un’Goro, but about it a little later.
Serious hardships befell the Warrior on Dragons, who, after the departure of the strongest tempo early drops, essentially ceased to exist in Standard mode.
Only the Pirate Warrior was on the sidelines and escaped serious losses. Without Sir Finley Mrrgglton, of course, it became a little more difficult, but this, like the loss of the Little Buccaneer, did not affect the archetype so much.
It is important to discuss the new items the class received during the Expedition to Un’Goro. The most notable is, of course, the appearance of the legendary task Heart of the Crown of Fire and the mass of cards synergizing with it, which as a result created the Warrior’s Quest – an interesting and fresh slow class archetype with an unusual way of winning.
Of course, the connection between Ragnaros (or rather Sulfuras) and Garrosh or Muradin is not easy to find, so the question “why did the Warrior receive the legendary task with this effect?” remains open, but this is not so important.
It is worth noting that the developers were still able to make something viable out of the synergies with provocation, even if for this they had to literally force the Warrior to play this type of creature, promising an incredible reward in its power. Quest Warrior these provocateurs by themselves and are not particularly needed, except that after the loss of his basic hero power, they help him to defend himself.Previously, all of them are more likely “raw materials” or a way to fulfill the Heart of the Crown of Fire, but far from being an end in itself of the archetype.
In addition to provocations, you can find some others among the new cards: another strange and situational weapon (Lava Blade), a way of accumulating armor (Iron Hide), synergy of interaction with incomplete health (King Mosh, Suddenogenesis) and Exploration of Un’Goro. You shouldn’t wonder why this spell turned out to be in the Warrior, just the developers decided that some kind of fan deck would not interfere with the class – after all, someone wants to take a break from the Pirate Warrior, right?
Started Warrior in the Un’Goro Expedition meta for health: the game often featured Quest Warrior and Pirate Warrior , as well as other decks such as Control Warrior, N’Zoth Warrior, Control Warrior with Dragons , but the latter quickly left the ladder, leaving room for only two diametrically opposed decks.
In the first month of the Expedition to Un’Goro, the Warrior felt great and even occupied the first lines in popularity among other classes, and indeed many played the Quest Warrior. Over time, however, the popularity of the Warrior declined, and the good old Pirate Warrior became the leader within the class, pushing the Warrior’s Quest into the background.
Quest Warrior quickly found his best build, and it didn’t change much throughout the expansion. The archetype performed great in aggro match-ups, but suffered from the Rogue Quest, which he could not defeat. And the more popular Valeera became, the worse things went for the Warrior Quest.
14.1. Deck Quest Warrior from Kolento
14.1. Deck Quest Warrior from Kolento
But the Pirate Warrior was the perfect answer to the Rogue Quest, and even the presence of the technical card Creeper Golakka in the game did not embarrass the hegemon of the past meta. The archetype has remained largely unchanged since the days of the Gallant City of Gadgetzan, which, it is worth noting, was a serious omission of the developers, whose goal is the evolution and changes in Hearthstone after the rotation of the Standard format.
Pirate Warrior did not feel this rotation, having lost only one card, and he did not get anything new except, perhaps, the Hydra of Bitter Waves, which could be found in some versions of the archetype aimed at controlling match-ups.

15. Warrior & Meta Knights of the Ice Throne
11.08.2017 – 07.12.2017
Important Warrior Cards in the Knights of the Frozen Throne
- Pirate Warrior
Add-on information (click to open)
The add-on was released August 11, 2017 , giving each class a death knight – a unique card that changes your character and his hero power. The add-on was also remembered for the first free adventure, in the final of which the players had to defeat the Lich King himself .You can find a guide on passing this boss with all classes to get the new hero Arthas Menethil here. With the Knights of the Frozen Throne, a new mechanic Life Drain has been added to the game. You can see all cards of the add-on here.
The Knights of the Frozen Throne became a fateful addition for the Warrior. In a bad sense of the word. It was in this expansion that the Warrior first disappeared from the radar of meta-reports, becoming the weakest class in Hearthstone – this has never happened to Garrosh, he has never fallen so low.
But first, take a look at the new Warrior cards in the Knights of the Frozen Throne. Despite the low positions in the class, they are quite good and interesting.
First of all, the class Death Knight Lord of the Scourge Garrosh draws attention to himself. Of all the “dk” issued in the Knights of the Frozen Throne, this is often called the weakest, but perhaps it is not the level of the card’s strength as such, but the level of the class’s power that could not show decent results using this card or any another.
Lord of the Scourge Garrosh is a good and balanced card, which again, like the Heart of the Crown of Fire, invites the Warrior to abandon his basic hero power. As mentioned at the very beginning of this article, the strength of the Warrior’s hero is quite specific and weakly synergizes with any style of play other than Control Warrior’s. Crown of Fire Heart and Scourge Lord Garrosh address this issue by granting the Warrior new and interesting ways to interact with his deck and opponents through renewed Hero Power.
Other class cards are also interesting. The Bloody Blade is the first worthy weapon released by the developers since the Curse of Naxxaramas. Interestingly, it is very similar to Death Bite, which shows that the Warrior is returning to his roots.
Dead Man’s Hand is a card that supports the Fatig Warrior, thanks to which the class can again, as in the good old days, turn to the slowest style of play. Alas, it turned out to be not so effective, and Fatig Warrior did not become a truly competitive deck, but at least the direction proposed by Blizzard is encouraging.
Who’s on me ?! – a card from the same opera. It is noteworthy that this spell became almost the only way for the Warrior to accumulate a lot of armor in the realities of Standard mode, which is paradoxical. It has already been mentioned that the Druid from the Knights of the Frozen Throne is becoming the new “tank” in Hearthstone and its armor accumulation potential is seriously superior to that of the Warrior. And this is, perhaps, strange, since it does not correlate with the class identity of both the Druid and the Warrior.
However, the Druid turned out to be better than the Warrior, not only in matters of armor accumulation, but also in all others.Comparing the strongest class of the former meta (Druid) and the weakest (Warrior), there is nothing left but to make a helpless gesture.
Other new Warrior cards turned out to be not very popular, but according to their idea they developed mainly the idea of synergies with the whirlwind effect (Rotface, Animated Berserker, Soul Thief, Visitor of the Grave, Bloody Blade).
So, what happened to the Warrior in the Knights of the Frozen Throne meta. It all started with the fact that the Druids completely took over the ladder: Jade Druid, Agro Druid and other representatives of the class, before the changes in the map balance, became the undisputed leaders with a huge margin from other classes.
Not a single slow Warrior archetype could survive in such conditions. What will Scourge Lord Garrosh do with his Dark Sorrow and 1 Damage Hero Power against 10/10 Jade Golems? Will the Warrior manage to realize his new card Dead Man’s Hand faster than Jade Druid Jade Idol? The answers to both questions are depressing. Therefore, although the Warrior in the new addition received excellent and interesting cards from a design point of view, he did not really manage to apply them. If you went to ladder with any kind of Control Warrior deck, from Fatig Warrior to Warrior Quest, you would be in complete fiasco with Druids appearing in 30-35% of matches.
However, those who still wanted to play the Warrior or make them daily still had such a chance – the Pirate Warrior was still a competitive deck (to what extent it was possible to remain competitive in the Knights of the Frozen Throne meta before nerfs, given the Druid dominance) … The good news was that the creation of the Pirate Warrior did not need to be spent too much: since the time of the evil city of Gadgetzan it has hardly changed. Except that Bittertide Hydra got up to meet more often, as it was a good threat in a matchup with Jade Druids.
15.1 Pirate Warrior Deck (Standard)
15.1 Pirate Warrior Deck (Standard)
Few people were happy with the fact that Pirate Warrior remained a meta and powerful deck for almost a year, completely unchanging and evolving from expansion and expansion, not changing even after the rotation of Standard mode and after adding a lot of technical anti-aggro and anti-pirate cards.
This did not appeal to the players who were frankly tired of the aggressive and straightforward style of the Pirate Warrior game (many were tired even in the evil city of Gadgetzan), as a result, the developers did not like it either.Early conservative measures (Golakka Creeper, Tar Guardian, Gooey Goo, and other defensive tech cards) did not help, and now is the time to move on to directly interfering with deck and class balance.
Yes, and the moment was right: all the same, it was necessary to nerf the insanely strong Druid, at the same time they decided to deal with the annoying Pirate Warrior. True, the decision made by the developers about which card should be nerfed was called controversial by many.
Yes, the Pirate Warrior was a problem, and the Fireaxe was indeed an integral part of the deck, and the loss of this weapon significantly weakened it.But much more seriously, due to the change in the balance of the classic Warrior weapons, all his other archetypes have suffered: Quest Warrior, Control Warrior, Fatig Warrior and others. They not only suffered, but simply disappeared from the meta, dragging Garrosh with them into the abyss. None of his slow deck was now able to survive the early stages of the game with honor: it simply did not have good defensive options for this.
The most interesting thing is that the Pirate Warrior continued to exist after the changes to the Fire Ax.Yes, he became weaker, but now he was able to turn to Prince Keleset. Only he could survive the nerfs of the Fire Ax, remaining the only at least slightly competitive deck of the class until the end of the Year of the Mammoth.
The main problem due to which not only the Warrior suffered, but Hearthstone as a whole, the Pirate Scout, has already experienced the third card nerf, and only much later, almost before leaving for Free mode, it will be nerfed as part of the rotation. …
The developers, of course, noted that they want to nerf the Fire Ax, not only because they do not like the Pirate Warrior, but also because they want to give the Warrior new ways of development and change the class. The idea, of course, is a noble, but the timing is not right: the Warrior did not find new worthy paths of development up to the Witch’s Forest, remaining the worst class in the game in terms of popularity and percentage of victories.
And the Pirate Warrior, with whom Blizzard planned to fight by weakening the Fire Ax, became the undisputed leader of the class. The strongest among the weakest.

Important Warrior Cards in Kobolds and Catacombs
- Pirate Warrior
- Big Warrior
- Fatig Warrior

The supplement was released on December 7, 2017 and was remembered by the players for several things at once. First, each class received a legendary weapon with a powerful effect.Secondly, the game has a new single-player mode – a trip to the dungeon, highly appreciated by the gaming community. Here you can read a guide on trekking to the Kobolds and Catacombs dungeons. Thirdly, Charms and Unidentified Items appeared in the game, as well as a new mechanic recruitment .
Players expected a lot from Kobolds and Catacombs when it comes to Warrior. The first expansion after the card nerfs was supposed to correct the mistakes made and make the Warrior a full-fledged class that could again feel comfortable in the meta.
It should be said right away that these hopes remained only fantasies, but in reality the Warrior continued to drag out a miserable existence. However, the class did not have such bad cards (but not good enough by that time) and even a new idea for the archetype, which was called Big Warrior .
Many new items in the Warrior’s collection are just created in order to support the new deck: The whole group !, Thighburner. Synergies with armor appear in large numbers, and they are all completely diverse: Dryhous Armor, Flurry of Wrath, Geosculptor Yip, Blade Hand, Inlaid Golem.
An interesting card Unidentified Shield, which again shows that the developers want to return the Warrior to his origins: the spell is very similar to the good old Protector.
The Pirate Warrior remained the leader within the class – for a year now. However, his deck has finally changed significantly. In addition to Prince Keleseth, added after the Fireaxe nerf, the Evil Summoner appeared in it, making the Warrior Pirate much heavier. The only spell remaining in the Pirate Warrior deck is Ward: Small Mithril. All other slots are occupied by weapons and creatures. Pirate Warrior had to give up Hero Strike, Mortal Strike and Upgrade.

16.1 Pirate Warrior Deck from Karomizu
In the first month after the release of the Kobolds and Catacombs, many tried to achieve something with the help of Big Warrior. It rarely ended in success, but the archetype is worth noting. Although he was weak, like the class as a whole, he still met in the ladder of those days.
16.2 Deck of Big Warrior from Seven
16.2 Big Warrior Deck from Seven
In Kobolds and Catacombs, the developers again turned to radical measures to change the meta – to nerfs. Not only the strongest meta cards were hit, but also a couple of legendary cards that are about to go into the Free format. The changes were made mainly for the Freeform players, and many people did not understand why these nerfs happened so late. Perhaps the meta would have been much better if this pair of legendaries (Raza the Captive and Pirate Scout) had been changed a year ago.
Without Pirate Scout and Corridor Horror Pirate Warrior has become much weaker, although he did not shine much earlier. Big Warrior has already been forgotten, and nerfs have not really changed the state of affairs for this archetype. But someone started experimenting with Fatig or Mill Warrior, since the meta finally ceased to be so ruthless to this archetype. However, the matter did not progress beyond experiments and isolated achievements. The warrior in the Kobolds and Catacombs, as was the weakest class, remained so.At least Garrosh was not bored, since the Shaman kept him company.

The witch forest will be remembered by players for several reasons.First, there was the third Standard mode rotation, which, however, did not affect the meta as much as the May card nerfs, as a result of which all the leading archetypes were weakened. Secondly, the players went back to play against the AI in the new Monster Hunt mode, which you can read about here. Third, Hearthstone introduces two new sub-game mechanics: Echo and Rush . Fourth, the maps of Baku, the Devourer of the Moon and Genn Sedogniv, have seen the light, creating odd and even archetypes, respectively.
The Witch Forest Warrior began, like all other classes, with the Standard Mode rotation, as a result of which the expansion cards Awakening of the Ancient Gods, Party in Karazhan and the Malice of Gadgetzan left the format. Also, the Hall of Fame was enlarged by the Vash’ir oracle, important for the slow archetypes of the class.
For the Warrior after the Kobolds and the Catacombs, of course, any losses were difficult, but still he can do without the cards below and some others. Unless the Pirate Warrior lost too much and finally left the Standard format.
The cards that the Warrior lost after the 2018 Standard mode rotation
The onslaught mechanic has appeared in the Witchwood, which has become a kind of alternative to jerking. And the developers took full advantage of the Warrior, giving him a lot of synergies with the onslaught, since, like the dash, this mechanic reflects part of the Warrior’s identity.
This is how Darius Crowley, City Herald, Militia Commander, Red-bellied Wasp, Rabid Worgen, and Lumberjack Ax appeared in the class collection. Many of them have found their way into the less popular but worthy of mention Warrior Rush deck, and Darius Crowley and the City Herald appear in other decks, but perhaps simply because there are no better options for them.
An important new card is the Warpath, which many have dubbed the Degraded Desecration, but despite this, the spell is used by most of the slow Warriors.
The cannon tower looks like a complete misunderstanding, suitable only for fantasies about an ideal, but almost never feasible OTK. The Dangerous Arsenal has not been used either, although the spell looks interesting and unusual – there was nothing like it in Hearthstone before.
The Warrior was much more influenced by a pair of neutral cards.Baku the Moon Eater finally gave the Warrior the ability to accumulate a large amount of armor, replacing the year as the lost Maryele Purehearted. The Odd Warrior will reveal himself fully in future expansions.
The second important neutral card is the Phantom Militia, which became an excellent tool for returning the Warrior Quest to the game after a year of oblivion. However, not only the Ghost Militia helped the Quest Warrior, many earlier released cards finally found a place in the assemblies of this archetype.
In the pre-nerf meta, the Odd Warrior was particularly prominent. Some builds used the Heart of Fire Crown, others abandoned the proactive method of victory, completely relying on outplaying the opponent for profit and surviving due to a huge amount of armor.

18. Boomsday Project Warrior and Meta
08/07/2018 – 12/04/2018
Important Warrior Cards in The Boomsday Project
- Odd Warrior
- Odd Quest Warrior
- Mecha-K’Tun Warrior
Add-on information (click to open)
The Boomsday Project – addition with a mass of mechanisms and new mechanics magnetism .For the first time, Blizzard gave each class legendary spells, some also received project cards, and the Warrior – the Mad Genius Boom.
Zilliax, the Mischievous Inventor for 5 mana, and Mecha-K’Tun became the Meta-Building Cards of the Boomsday Project.
The Boomsday Project was one of the most significant additions to the class. The Warrior has at his disposal a number of powerful mechanisms, methods of generating resources and, of course, the Mad Genius Boom.
In the Year of the Raven, there were still Death Knights in the Standard, so Mad Genius Boom didn’t seem like an imbalanced map at first.Deathstalker Rexxar, Frost Lich Jaina, or Bloodsucker Gul’dan looked much stronger. But after they left for Free, the players realized how powerful the Mad Genius Boom was when combined with the onslaught mechanisms.
Explosivebot, Eternium Rover, Zilliax, Omega Conveyor, and Supercollider have also done a lot for the slower class archetypes. All of these cards fit perfectly into a defensive playstyle and help the Warrior hold back the onslaught of aggressive decks. Most of them are odd, which is also important.
The only Boomsday Project card that still hasn’t found a place in competitive ladder decks is Rocket Boots.
The Best Warrior archetype from The Boomsday Project to the end of the Year of the Raven was the Odd Warrior. Prior to the nerfs, he took the Mischievous Inventor for 5 mana into the assembly, and later turned to other defensive options. The archetype left no chance for any aggro deck, fought on equal terms with the midrange opponents and Hunters, and was second only to archetypes with OTK combinations and endless benefits, for example, Drygut for the Shaman.
18.1.1 Odd Warrior from ZachO
18.1.1 Odd Warrior from ZachO
Towards the end of The Boomsday Project, Odd Warrior has changed slightly, with Azalina the Soul Thief becoming a popular option. The card helped fight Druids, Shamans and other slow opponents.
18.1.2. Odd Warrior with Azalina Soul Thief after nerfs
18.1.2. Odd Warrior with Azalina Soul Thief after nerfs
Depending on the meta, the Warriors turned to either the classic odd deck or the odd quest deck.Such an assembly felt more confident against ordinary Odd Warriors, could defeat Druids and Shamans, but more often it was inferior to aggro and tempo opponents.
18.2 Odd Warrior Quest from Zalae
18.2 Odd Quest Warrior from Zalae
Boombearer and Mecha-K’Tun opened a new OTK combo for the Warrior through expensive legendary cards, Whirlwind and a couple of Inner Rages. This archetype still exists in the game, but few play it. The deck is complex and non-standard, but in skillful hands it outplayes Odd Warriors, OTK archetypes, and copes with aggro decks.

19. The Warrior and the Meta of Rastakhan’s Games
04.12.2018 – 09.04.2019
Important Warrior Cards in Rastakhan’s Rumble
- Odd Warrior
- Odd Dragon Warrior
- Odd Quest Warrior
- Quest Warrior
- Rush Warrior
Add-on information (click to open)
Rastakhan’s Rumble – the final expansion of the Year of the Raven, was the final one for both odd and even decks. The developers have delighted players with the new Overkill mechanic, as well as loa cards and spirit cards. All cards of Rastakhan’s Rumble can be viewed here.
In the latest expansion of the Year of the Raven, the developers are pushing the Warrior towards new play styles. Most of the cards are dragons and synergies with them: they are among neutral and class cards.
In addition to dragons, the Warrior also received support for the onslaught mechanic: Akali of the Loa Rhino, Spirit of the Rhino, an additional removal of Desolation, two not-so-powerful weapons Slavemaster Sul’traz’s Whip, and Heavy Metal.
Heavy Metal – a card with the already familiar mechanics (the same was for Geosculptor Yip from the Kobolds and Catacombs) for the implementation of armor. The only strange thing is that both cards are even, and the Warrior at that time did not have good ways to accumulate a lot of armor, except for Baku the Moon Eater. Without her, the Druid was still much better at saving armor.
The already strong Odd Warrior and Quest Warrior did not receive support in the Rastakhan Games, but still remained the best choice for class fans and control of the playstyle.
19.1 Odd Warrior by mt
19.1 Odd Warrior by mt
The Odd Dragon Warrior appeared – similar to the classic Odd Warrior archetype, but more tempo and aggressive. The concept is interesting, but not so strong, so in the end, the usual Odd Warrior was considered the best way to collect a Warrior.
19.2 Odd Dragon Warrior
19.2 Odd Dragon Warrior
The Odd Warrior Quest has changed: Undasta and Amani Bear allowed the archetype to play synergies of heavy beasts for better protection from aggression. As before, this deck played better against slow opponents, but now lost aggro less often.
19.3 Odd Warrior Quest from Zalae
19.3 Odd Quest Warrior from Zalae
Quest Warriors appear more often without Baku the Moon Eater, but with powerful even options like the Warpath, Dryhous Armor, Scout in Trouble and other cards. The archetype is rare but remarkable.
19.4 Quest Warrior from Neirea
19.4 Quest Warrior from Neirea
Another rare and notable one is Rush Warrior. This expensive deck plays in the midrange style and resembles the old Tempo Warriors from the Awakening of the ancient gods. Rush Warrior performed well in aggro match-ups, but often he lacked heavy options to push the deck control – the same Odd Warrior.
19.5 Rush Warrior

Revenge of Shadows Warrior Cards
- Bomb Warrior
- Control Warrior

Rise of Shadows ushered in the Year of the Dragon and marked the fifth anniversary of Hearthstone.Five villains from past years have united in the League of EVIL to capture Dalaran – the developers have pleased with a new PvE adventure dedicated to these events. The collection now includes henchman generator cards, as well as intrigue cards. All Shadow Retribution cards can be found here.
The Year of the Dragon began with heavy losses for the Warrior. Gone are not only many key map controls: ways to delay fatigue, clear the table, gain a lot of benefits, but also the Heart of Fire Crown – the ultimate way to win any fight.
But even more important is the loss of the Moon Eater Baku – for the first time a card not from the classic and basic sets went to the Hall of Fame, because it created many problems in the meta and for the Warrior in particular.
Odd Warrior is a strong deck, but polar. She had no chance to outplay any opponent’s aggro, but she also had no chance to be inferior to slow OTK strategies or decks with a large amount of profit. The strong polarization of the meta was not to the liking of the players, as little depended on their performance.
Important Warrior losses in the 2019 rotation
Warrior lost a lot, but the class still had the Witchwood and Boomsday Project cards at their disposal – incredibly powerful and reliable tools. Throw in the stable classic and basic sets, albeit repeatedly nerfed, and new Rise of Shadows cards – the Warrior received a lot of useful options at the beginning of the year.
The developers remembered about the old and not very popular map of Goblins and Dwarfs – the Iron Giant. And they decided that this idea should be developed. This is how the Bomb Warrior appeared – an archetype with a new proactive method of victory instead of the departed Crown of Fire Heart.
In addition to the synergies of bombs, the Warrior received one of the strongest cards in the game: Omega Destroyer. Compare it with the classic Frosty Yeti to feel the difference: it is both a mechanism and a powerful removal from move 10.
The rest of the Warrior cards in Rise of Shadows are not particularly impressive. There are a couple of synergies for Big Warrior: Explosionbot and Space Breaker – the problem is that they don’t work well with each other. There is also one of the weakest cards in the game – Intrigues of Dr. Boom, another way to accumulate armor – Evil scrap metal, henchman generator – Motivation and Sweeping Strikes – a card with interesting mechanics that fits perfectly into the Warrior lore, but with weak implementation.
The main acquisition among neutral cards is Archivist Elysiana. The Legendary allowed the Warrior to drag out the game for at least 10 turns, delaying the stage of fatigue and granting additional resources. The card originally cost 8 mana, so Warriors could combine it with Young Brewmaster or Doomed Banker. But the developers quickly nerfed the map, as they did not want to see hourly games in the ladder and in tournaments: often the game reached 45 moves on both sides and a draw.
In June, the developers pleased the community with a patch with map buffs. The two Warrior mechanisms from The Boomsday Project became better: buffed cards did not make it into the class decks, but they still strengthened it, since the Warrior can get them with the help of the Boom Mad Genius hero power and the Omega conveyor.
KLNK-KL4K also appeared in the June patch. The Legendary made its way into most of the meteor decks, including the Warrior, who got a lot more use out of gears thanks to the Mad Genius Boom.
Two competitive class decks in Rise of Shadows – Bomb Warrior and Control Warrior. The first can play aggressively, the second is aimed at maximum defense and outplaying opponents to their advantage. Bomb Warrior and Control Warrior competed with each other throughout the expansion: once the first was more popular and stronger, and once the second. Regardless, the class as a whole feels great.

21. The results of the Warrior’s development and the future of the class
Taking a look at the evolution of the class throughout the life of Hearthstone, the following interesting trends can be identified.
First of all, , the Warrior had extremely strong Classic and Basic card sets, which ensured him a stable high place in the meta until a number of Garrosh cards were nerfed. As of today, the Warrior’s unchanged core, unaffected by the rotation of Standard Mode, is no longer as strong, but still becomes a reliable tool for controlling strategies.
Secondly , Warrior is an extremely diverse class with due regard to him. The example of the Awakening of the Ancient Gods expansion showed how easy it is to create many different archetypes with just a few new cards. The class showed sufficient variety in other additions: even though most of the time the Warrior was predominantly class control, for a long time he was one of the main aggressors. There was also a time when the tempo of Garrosh’s decks came to the fore.
Thirdly , it is possible to note excellent prerequisites for creating combo decks and, in general, unusual, strange and difficult archetypes in performance, like OTK Warrior and Patron Warrior earlier, later Warrior with Magic Giants, Fatig Warrior, Mecha-K’Tun Warrior and others. The class cards and their mechanics are unique, uncommon, and leave room for experimentation. It is not for nothing that Fibonacci plays each expansion only as a Warrior, inventing even in the darkest times for the class, competitive, but strange decks of mainly Control of the Warrior and related archetypes.
Fourth , the Warrior needs some ways to change his hero power, since not all of his archetypes interact well with the base one, and often even for the Control Warrior it is not good enough.
In the Year of the Dragon, the Warrior’s main problem is the cards from the Year of the Raven, or rather the additions The Witch’s Forest and The Boomsday Project. Then the developers had to pull the Warrior out of the abyss of nothingness, so that the class received the most powerful cards. The warrior was pulled out and made strong again, but now too powerful old cards prevent new strategies from developing. The main troublemaker is the Mad genius Boom, who has been asked to nerf for a long time.
In Saviors of Uldum, the Warrior is not supported by the already powerful Warrior Control and Warrior Bomb strategies. This is the third time the developers have turned to the idea of the Warrior on provocations – it is not yet clear whether this attempt will be successful.

New ideas and mechanics – attack with weapons with a new quest Hacking the system, combinations through the Blood Mercenary and provocations – may not be as stable and powerful as the traditional Bomb and Control Warriors. Moreover, the mechanics of mixing bombs are excellent counter to the new Renault decks of the Saviors of Uldum.
Whatever the fate of the Warrior in the Year of the Dragon, fans of the class have nothing to worry about. Garrosh is unlikely to disappear from radar until the spring of 2020 and the next rotation of the Standard. Another question is whether the Warrior will be able to change and evolve throughout the year. We will find out in August.
Conclusion
