Athlete of the Week- Taylor D’Amore
Coming off an overtime loss to American University earlier in the week, the women’s lacrosse team found themselves in another tight match on Saturday.
The Blue Jays hosted conference opponent Vanderbilt University who had won the last seven matchups over Hopkins going into Saturday’s game. However, Saturday’s result shifted the momentum as the Blue Jays snapped their losing streak with a 12-11 overtime victory over the Commodores.
This clutch overtime performance was led by junior Taylor D’Amore who scored both of the Blue Jays’ overtime goals. After Vanderbilt tied the game 11-11, D’Amore won the ensuing draw for the Blue Jays. Hopkins was then able to maintain possession of the ball just long enough to let D’Amore score. The game-winning goal came with 5.5 seconds remaining in overtime, to leave the Commodores with a 0-3 record in conference play.
She is just ten shy of her personal record (33), and the Blue Jays are just 11 games into their season.
The Blue Jays improve to 7-4 overall, with a 1-1 record in the American Lacrosse Conference. With just five games remaining in their regular schedule, the Blue Jays will travel to University of Florida on Saturday, April 6th for their next matchup.
The News-Letter had the opportunity to catch up with the lacrosse star, as she reflected on her impressive performance.
News-Letter (N-L):With the game on the line, what was it like scoring the game winning goal in overtime?
Taylor D’Amore (TD) : We lost an overtime game earlier in the week, so it was definitely better to be on the other side of an overtime game Saturday. Knowing there probably wasn’t enough time for Vanderbilt to get a good shot off made it even better. It was a great win for us that we really needed.
N-L: Was this your most memorable moment in your Hopkins career? If so, why? If not, what was?
TD: The most memorable moment in my Hopkins career was beating Penn State in our conference tournament last year.
N-L: What have you done to prepare yourself for that moment when the game is on the line?
TD: Preparation is all about practice. Extra shooting and stick-work.
N-L: How will this victory help the team’s morale as the regular season end is approaching?
TD: Hopefully this win gives us momentum moving forward to the last part of our season. It was a conference game which made it that much more important.
N-L: How does this season compare to the ones in the past?
TD: This season is unique because of how close our team is off the field. The team chemistry is awesome.
N-L: What personal goals have you set for yourself beginning at the start of the season?
TD: I have a personal goal to be more consistent as a team and individual.
N-L: What are some team goals that you all work hard to achieve throughout the remainder of the season?
TD: A couple team goals are to make the NCAA tournament and win the ALC Tournament which we are hosting.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelica D’Amore and Taylor Catalano.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Angelica and Taylor. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We are two cousins from a big Italian family who grew up surrounded by delicious food. We decided to take that love of food and turn it into a hobby. We enjoy taking pictures and sharing our food adventures from the Boston area and beyond. Our hobby quickly grew into a passion and next thing we knew, we were managing an Instagram with over 7,000 followers.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road but it’s been a fun (and delicious) one! We had a lot to learn when it came to Instagram and the world of podcasting. Things that you would imagine take a couple minutes turn into hours of watching how to’s and learning how Instragram’s ever changing algorithm works. We’ve made some really good friends along this journey through networking in the industry. Our advice for anyone wanting to start their own food blog (or any influencer account) is to be committed and prepared to put in the utmost effort. Also don’t be too hard on yourself in the beginning because, the industry is always changing and we are constantly learning.
what should we know about Chicks With Food Pics? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are most known for our Instagram food blog ChicksWithFoodPics but we also produce an iTunes podcast called The Chicks. Our speciality is close up shots of the most delicious food. We are proud to be two women in a mainly male dominated food industry. What sets us apart from the others is that we’ve known each other our entire lives and have a partnership unlike any other. We share many of the same values and ideas when it comes to the direction of our brand which makes it an easy “job”.
Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
We grew up in an Italian family who loved to get together constantly and food was always a staple. From a young age, we watched our mothers and grandmothers prepare the most amazing food. In our family, the way we showed love was through food.
Having a food blog and eating many delicious meals from various restaurants brings back fond memories of childhood. Although, nothing will beat our Nana’s homemade red gravy.

Brothers Valladares – Maximo (Gabriel Corrado) and Federico (Osvaldo Laporte) – after the suicide of their father became the heirs of a huge fortune.
The brothers are very different from each other both in appearance and in character. Federico , who controls the family business, has been accustomed to high society since childhood, but at the same time depends on its conventions. Maximo , raised in the countryside, values freedom and independence more than anything else. The only thing that makes Maximo stay in the bustling and noisy capital is the desire to find out the cause of the death of his mother, who died in a car accident 10 years ago.
At one of the social receptions, brothers Valladares meet a young beautiful aristocrat Delphine Taylor (Florence Raggie).
Maximo immediately falls in love with her, but his brother manages to win the girl’s heart. Soon Federico marries Delphine , and for the first time she feels like the happiest woman in the world.
However, over time, it becomes clear to her that for Federico marriage with her was not based on love, but on calculation, and that only Maximo has real strong feelings for her.

According to critics, the writers of the series “ Milady: The story continues … ” (Milady, la historia continua) became the debut series in their career, while working on the storyline, the telenovelas were inspired by the story of Princess of Wales (Diana, Princess of Wales).
Lady Diana , who died just a few days before the release of the series, hints at not only its name, but a number of plot moves.
An allusion is the forced marriage of Federico, with Delphine – a woman who, despite her beauty and desire to be an exemplary wife, could not make her husband forget his former love – just like Diana and her husband Prince Charles ( Charles, Prince of Wales), whose connection with Camilla Parker-Bowles (English Camilla Parker-Bowles), which began in the 1970s, continued even when both of them were no longer free. It is no coincidence that the main characters of the series are brothers, which suggests the children of Diana , princes William (Prince William of the United Kingdom) and Harry (Prince Henry of Wales), and one of the central heroines of the series is named Regina, which is Latin for “queen”.It is no coincidence that the mother of Federico and Maximo, like the British princess, died in a car accident.

In her acting career, the role of Dolphina became one of the first works on television and the first major role. – Ruggie recalled that the most difficult for her and Osvaldo Laporta were the scenes of quarrels between their characters – due to the fact that the actors themselves had established friendly relations.
