Most Popular Fields of Study
In keeping with its reputation for academic excellence, the university has a competitive admissions process. The admissions process is based on three primary criteria: successful completion of a college preparatory high school curriculum, class rank or GPA, and ACT or SAT scores. Although either SAT or ACT scores are required for admission, the school reiterates that they represent only one aspect of a holistic review process that includes many factors.
Other considerations include advanced high school coursework, ethnic, racial, geographic, and socioeconomic diversity, and other background factors. Competitive admissions factors do not apply to Ohio residents applying to branch schools.
February is the application deadline for admission to the Autumn semester, although December applications are given full consideration for scholarships and financial aid.
Over 75% of students receive some form of financial aid. For entering or prospective freshmen, the financial aid application process overlaps to some degree with the admissions process, in that some of the materials used to determine whether a student is accepted will also be used to determine whether he or she will be eligible for financial aid, how much aid will be disbursed, and the form that the aid will take.
The completion and submission of a standard FAFSA form and all applicable addenda is a key element of the financial aid process. In addition, documentary verification in the form of financial records and other documents is also usually necessary to make a final need assessment. In addition to federal, state, and school-based grants, other financial aid options include loans, work-study jobs, and need- and merit-based scholarships.
For priority consideration, entering freshmen are urged to check for current year deadlines. Typically, scholarship deadlines fall in December, while the deadlines for other types of aid applications fall in February in March.

Stony Brook University is … What is Stony Brook University?
State University of New York at Stony Brook ( SUNY, State University of New York at Stony Brook ), also known as Stony Brook University is one of the four centers of the State University of New York, located in Stony Brook, about 105 kilometers east of Manhattan.
The University was founded in 1957 as a branch of a state (state) university in the countryside of Long Island.
At first, the university was twice as close to the city of New York, namely, where the William Robertson Coe Planting Fields estate is now located – in the Oyster Bay area. The first years the university was engaged in preparing teachers of secondary schools for teaching mathematics and exact sciences.Since 1962, the university has moved to land that belonged to the philanthropist Ward Melville – this is where Stony Brook University is located today. The original donated land had an area of 1.6 km², but today the campus (student campus) has expanded its area threefold.
Of all four central branches of State University of New York, Stony Brook is the only one that was formed after the formation of the state university system.
Initially, the campus was concentrated around one square, mainly there were institutions and offices, and the lessons were held in the building of the Humanities Department. Some of the lessons were once held “at the old address” where the Botanical Garden is now located. However, the territory of the current Stony Brook has expanded so much that there will be enough room for all classes on it.
During the civil rights movement in the 1960s and later during the Vietnam War, Stony Brook University was a hotbed of student activism.

The best nursing schools are usually found in large research universities that have their own medical school or are closely affiliated with local hospitals. Such programs are well suited for use by experienced instructors and provide students with meaningful clinical opportunities.
The programs listed here offer a high-quality Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), and most also offer master’s and doctoral degrees that can lead to careers as nurse anesthesiologist, nurse midwife, and nurse practitioner. There are many other excellent medical programs in the USA that are completely focused on postgraduate education.
However, the “best” nursing school for you will depend on your professional goals, budget and travel restrictions. You can become a Nursing Assistant with a High School Diploma and Nursing Certificate, and licensed nurses and nursing professionals typically only need a year of post-high school graduation.
For nurses, more education usually leads to more opportunities and higher wages.Nurse practitioners often earn six-figure salaries, and their job prospects are excellent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The difference in starting salaries for Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing can be more than $ 40,000 per year.
