What are the key factors to consider when choosing a lacrosse rebounder. How can the right rebounder improve your lacrosse skills. Which features should you prioritize for optimal training results.
Understanding the Importance of Lacrosse Rebounders
Lacrosse is rapidly gaining popularity, potentially emerging as a new apex sport sooner than expected. To stay ahead of the curve and hone your skills, a lacrosse rebounder is an invaluable training tool. These versatile devices allow players to practice various drills independently, including time and room shooting, shooting on the run, and shooting in tight spaces.
The beauty of lacrosse rebounders lies in their ability to provide consistent practice opportunities without the need for a partner. Simply set up the rebounder, and you’re ready to elevate your game. However, with the market flooded with options, selecting the right rebounder can be challenging. This comprehensive guide will help you navigate the selection process and identify the best lacrosse rebounders to suit your needs.
Key Factors to Consider When Choosing a Lacrosse Rebounder
Several functional and aesthetic features determine the quality of a lacrosse rebounder. Understanding these factors will help you make an informed decision:
Size Matters: Finding the Right Dimensions
Typical lacrosse rebounders measure 3″ x 4″, but dimensions can vary. The ideal size depends on your skill level and available space. Are larger rebounders always better? Not necessarily. While frames measuring 6.5″ x 6.5″ or larger offer more throwing angles and are suitable for expert players or group training, smaller rebounders can be advantageous in limited spaces. Some models even offer adjustable sizes, providing versatility for various training scenarios.
Frame Materials: Durability and Weather Resistance
The frame material significantly impacts a rebounder’s durability and performance. What are the best materials for lacrosse rebounder frames? The top choices include:
- Steel
- Aluminum
- Heavy-duty plastic
Avoid rebounders made from materials other than these, as they may lack durability. Additionally, ensure that metal frames are galvanized for improved weather resistance, allowing your rebounder to withstand outdoor conditions.
Portability: The Importance of Mobility
While all rebounders offer some degree of mobility, ease of transport varies. For players who frequently change training locations, foldable models are highly recommended. These collapsible rebounders can be easily moved and stored, providing convenience and flexibility in your training routine.
Advanced Features for Enhanced Training
As you progress in your lacrosse journey, certain advanced features can take your training to the next level:
Adjustable Angles: Versatility in Practice
Angle flexibility is a sought-after feature among professional players. Rebounders with adjustable angles allow for more diverse training scenarios, helping players refine their skills across various throwing and catching positions. While beginners may not require this feature initially, it becomes increasingly valuable as skills improve.
Ground Contact: On-Ground vs. Off-Ground Models
Rebounders come in two primary designs: those that touch the ground and those that don’t. Which type is best for your training needs? On-ground models are ideal for beginners and younger players, offering stability and ease of use. They can also be versatile for multi-sport training. Off-ground rebounders, however, cater to more experienced players, helping to refine advanced techniques and ball control.
The Role of User Reviews in Choosing a Rebounder
User reviews provide valuable insights into a rebounder’s real-world performance. Why are positive reviews crucial when selecting a lacrosse rebounder? They offer firsthand accounts of:
- Frame durability
- Ease of assembly
- Functionality in various training scenarios
- Overall lifespan of the product
By carefully considering user reviews, you can avoid potential pitfalls and invest in a rebounder that meets your expectations and training goals.

The Best Lacrosse Rebounders for 2021
The Best Lacrosse Rebounders Buying Guide
The beautiful game of lacrosse is gaining popularity these days and we just might witness its rise as a new apex sport sooner than we expected. To prepare yourself for this surge, you must train to become the best and what better way to do that than with a
Lacrosse rebounder?
With lacrosse rebounders, you can practice as much as you like, whenever you want and on your turf. They are perfect for running several lacrosse drills like time and room shooting, shooting on the run, and shooting in tight. What makes lacrosse walls so special is that you don’t need help from anyone to practice with them. All you have to do is set them up and voila, you’re good to go!
Learning to practice with a rebounder is easy – just throw the ball at it from different angles and catch when it bounces back – buying the right one is the tricky part. The market offers a myriad of options – both good and bad, and if you truly want to improve your lacrosse skills, you’ll want to end up with the former. You need to read a comprehensive buying guide if you want to buy the best lacrosse rebounders the market can offer, and by the time you’re done reading this, you’d have done just that.
What are the factors to consider when buying a lacrosse rebounder?
Functional and aesthetic features determine lax wall quality, and some of them will be discussed below.
What is the best Lacrosse rebounder size?
Lacrosse rebounders typically have a width of 3” x 4”, but some models offer more or less. Choosing the right lax bounce bank size depends on several factors like skill level and available space.
Rebounders with large frames of about 6.5” x 6.5” or more should be your go-to if you plan to use them in relatively large spaces, play in a group, or if you’re an expert. The latter is because large-framed rebounders offer more throwing angles and give perfect ball rebounds. For smaller spaces, consider getting a relatively smaller rebounder; this will give you enough room to make your runs and catch perfectly.
Alternatively, you can go for convertible lacrosse rebounders that you can adjust to various custom sizes.
What are lacrosse rebounder frames made of?
Most rebounders come with steel, aluminium, or heavy-duty plastic frames, and they’re all good options. But if you do come across rebounders made of anything other than these materials, avoid them at all costs. Such lax walls are significantly inferior and will get damaged in no time.
Note that the steel, aluminium, or metal frames must also be galvanized. It makes them weatherproof.
Can I carry my rebounder to another training location?
All rebounders are mobile, but the ease of mobility is where some fall short. If you have to regularly move your Lacrosse rebounder, we recommend that you go for the foldable models.
These versions of rebounders can be collapsed to a portable size and moved from place to place without breaking a sweat. They also offer incredible ease of storage. You may never foresee a scenario where you need to move your rebounder, but it might happen and you don’t want to be caught unprepared. So, always buy foldable models.
Is it possible to adjust the angle of the lacrosse rebounder?
Angle flexibility is a perk that many professionals look out for before buying a bounce back wall. It allows enhanced training versatility, which is best for expert lacrosse players. If you’re a newbie, stick to non-adjustable rebounders and learn the ropes. With time, you’ll be able to practice catching and throwing from different angles.
Do all models of lacrosse rebounders touch the ground?
Some rebounders touch the ground, while others do not. If you’re an experienced player, you will be better off with the off-ground models, because they’ll help you refine your professional skills. On-ground rebounders are ideal for kids and newbie players because they require less skill to use; plus, they can be used for other sports like baseball and football.
Do positive reviews matter?
There’s almost no better judge of the performance and quality of a lax wall than the reviews of previous or current owners. Before paying for a rebounder, always check the reviews and make sure they’re positive to a great extent. Doing this will save you from purchasing rebounders with a history of weak frameworks, difficulty in assembly, poor functionality, and a short lifespan.

Why You Might Want to Use a Lacrosse Rebounder

More Practice Sessions
With a rebounder, you can have as much time as you want to practice or learn your game’s basic techniques and more.
Convenience
Having a lacrosse rebounder offers more convenience in your practice, especially if you have a busy schedule.
Perform Drills
Having a lacrosse rebounder will make it possible for you to practice catch and throw on dominant and non-dominant sides [2]. So, you can throw on dominants sides and catch on the non-dominant sides.
Practice running and throw catch, throw targeted shots, and the throw, catch and shoot drills.
How to Choose the Best Lacrosse Rebounders
There are lots of lacrosse rebounders in the market, which makes choosing the best one for your needs difficult.
Here are some factors to keep in mind as you purchase a lacrosse rebounder.
Size Of Your Yard
The size of your yard greatly determines the type of lacrosse rebounder you should purchase.
If you have a small yard, you should buy a smaller rebounder or get one with a damped net to absorb shock.
Another option is to go for one with adjustable tension. That way, you can throw hard balls and not suffer the risk of picking your rebounding ball to your neighbor’s yard.
Most of the best lacrosse rebounders are 7 inches tall, 3 inches wide, and have a rebound pad of 3×4 inches. Other rebounders are 8 feet, which are suitable for huge backyards.
How Often You Move Your Lacrosse Rebounder
Often lacrosse rebounders come with frames made from anodized steel or aluminum. This material makes them corrode easily if left under the weather for a long period.
So, it is better to opt for a lacrosse rebounder that you can easily move in bad weather conditions. However, most users prefer to store their rebounder in their garage immediately after use.
Rebounder Material/Construction
The material used for constructing lacrosse rebounders varies greatly. Some frames come in steel, aluminum, and heavy-duty plastic.
For a more durable and long-lasting usage, buy models that have thick steel or aluminum build. The frames also come in powder-coated or anodized material to help protect them from corrosion.
Player’s Skill Level
The skill level of a player matters a lot when making your lacrosse rebounder purchase.
Are you a keen lacrosse player who is given to the game and spends hours weekly? Then you should go for a high-quality rebounder with adjustable frames.
If you are an amateur or intend to buy one for your kids, then you can go for quality, portable rebounder.
Wall Size
The size of the wall is determined for the user. Experienced players should go for narrow walls with high bounce back.
This will make it possible to test your accuracy.
But if you are getting for kids, you should buy those with large frames as they are easier to hit.
Some rebounders have nets that go all the way down. This is a better choice for kids as it enables them to use it for other sports practice like baseball and soccer.
Number of Angles
This is one of the most vital factors to consider when purchasing a lacrosse rebounder.
Being able to angle the rebounder gives room to practice various drills. Some rebounders have up to 3, 5, and even 7 angle options, while others do not.
Final Words
Practicing with a lacrosse rebounder helps to improve one’s kickball accuracy, agility, and tactical decision-making.

10 Best Lacrosse Rebounders for 2021
Follow us on Social Media
Lacrosse has been around for hundreds of years. It’s said to have started as a game among Native Americans involving hundreds of players across a field of perhaps a mile or more. These days, the game has changed dramatically and involves a lot fewer players over a smaller field. There is no doubt, however, that the intensity has not changed and going by the professional associations around nowadays, the competition is getting more refined.
If you’re a lacrosse player and you’re eager to refine your own game, you’ll be familiar that sometimes it can be difficult to find another player to practice with. First, you have to find someone of similar ability and then hope that you both are not too busy to get together every other day to practice. A brick wall is a solution, but there might not be one close by. Plus, it doesn’t replicate playing conditions that well. Another solution is a rebounder. If you want to improve your game and want to be able to practice effectively as often as you want, then getting a rebounder is a fantastic solution.
Top Lacrosse Rebounders Comparison Chart
Not only will getting a rebounder give you extra motivation for you to practice whenever you want, but it will also enable you to improve your game. Being adjustable and portable, you can take it on the field, on a street, even in your backyard. The choice is yours and the beauty of it is that you can practice wherever and whenever you want in any condition. To help you find one, this review will give you more information about the types of rebounders out there and the best ones on the market right now.
Lacrosse Rebounder Buying Guide
Types of Rebounders
We mentioned the brick wall scenario just now. Players from many sports are familiar with this. The wall becomes your friend on many occasions as it is the only way to practice your chosen sport with any realism at all if you’re lacking a fellow human. This is an option for lacrosse too, but not a very effective one. Assuming there is one even close by, a wall will simply not give you a realistic rebound of the ball.
Luckily there are lacrosse rebounders available for your practicing pleasure. Generally, rebounders are made of a net about 3×4 foot square, stretched on an aluminum or steel frame about 6-7’ high. Think of a trampoline on an angle. They are adjustable to most angles and the idea is that they give the ball the right amount of rebound to best mimic play in real life. Most rebounders allow you to adjust the angle so you can play a defensive or offensive scenario, allowing for high pops and grounders. The frame can be folded and is made to be able to carry quite comfortably to your playing field. As well as this, the net itself, usually made of nylon, can vary in quality depending on your budget.
There can be a big range in size too, with larger ones better suited to an open field and smaller ones for environments more limited in size, such as your backyard. With a larger one, it’s possible to utilize it along with several other players, so you can happily practice your game in a group environment for extra benefit. There are in fact, many ways to get the most out of the rebounder and the different types will cater to what you want out of it.
Choosing the right Rebounder
One of the first considerations when buying a lacrosse rebounder will be your budget. How much are you willing to spend on a piece of equipment that is not really essential to you playing the game? That is a good question to ask yourself as you search for any sporting gear. However, most professional lacrosse players highly recommend getting one because they are adamant that the daily practice you can get at home or at your local park really improves your game.
If you have decided to buy one, there are many good options at different price points available on the market. Essentially, here is where your money can match it in the quality you can expect. Buying a better quality rebounder will not only result in a long lasting bit of gear, but it can also greatly enhance what you get out of your practice sessions. With a better quality rebounder, you will have a more realistic bounce back and sturdier frame. Going too cheap will yield expected results, with some frames and nets falling apart after a few sessions. This is the last thing you want when you’ve invested time and money into something that you feel will benefit you in the long run.
When selecting one, think about where you intend to use it. Will you be taking it to a large park nearby, or is it for your backyard? If you’re going to transport it regularly, is it foldable and not too heavy, while being weighty enough to hold steady on a windy day? Speaking of weather, make sure your rebounder can withstand not only wind, but also temperature and rain. When it comes to size, experts recommend 7-8 feet in height, but again that will depend on where you use it. If using it in a backyard but still want one of that height, consider getting a rebounder that dampens the bounce back so the ball doesn’t keep flying into the neighbor’s yard!
With this in mind, let’s review the top ten rebounders you can pick up this season to ensure you’re on top of your game.
Best Lacrosse Rebounders Reviews
Great for: Indoors and outdoors
Pros
- Super strong 17 gauge steel frame
- Can store flat
- Huge mat area
- Superior quality strings and mat
Cons
- Might be too large for some
- Quite expensive
If you want the very best rebounder with all the features, then this one is for you. EZ goal make excellent quality lacrosse gear from goals to rebounders and they know what you need in a professional rebounder. The frame is made up of 17 gauge steel to make it super strong – it’s going to stand up in any weather. The mat too is huge, and as it stands at 8’ tall, it is the best size mat you could hope for. Storage is a breeze too despite the strong steel frame, because they have designed it to fold up in a convenient manner. Add to this the rounded edges, and it slides into any space nicely. It can be used indoors and outdoors and of course you can adjust the angle widely, making it the perfect companion for the player looking to really step up their game. It is expensive and also is on the large side for some uses, but take it on a field and you will not find a better rebounder.
Great for: Backyards and fields
Pros
- Dampened rebound surface
- Folds up for easy storage
- Durable and sturdy aluminum frame
- Fully adjustable angle
Cons
- Smaller mat area than the EZ goal
A step down in price and size from the EZ goal, the Deluxe Pro from Champion Sports is nonetheless another fantastic product. It is perfect for the younger player looking to become pro and the quality will ensure you will have many years’ usage. The mat area is smaller, however it contains a really great dampener meaning you can use it in small yards. Of course it is also home on a large field and the fact that it can be angled many ways means it is just as user friendly as any top of the line rebounder. With the price set a little lower, it certainly comes into the affordable category for younger or more casual users.
Great for: Schools, parks and backyards
Pros
- Can be used across a variety of sports
- Lightweight
- Adjustable angles
- Quick and easy assembly
Cons
- Netting is not the best quality
Into the more budget-priced category, this multi-sport back screen offers good value if you or your children play different sports and need a practice net to cover them. It is made of a lightweight but sturdy aluminum frame that uses bungee cords to attach the 6’x3. 5’ mat. It can be angled multiple ways to ensure you get the full spectrum of shot types and it also folds up for easy storage. While the mat is nice and large, some customers have complained of the poor quality both of the net itself and the bungee cords that attach it. Still, at this price range and the fact that it can be used across multiple sports, we recommend it as an excellent value product that delivers what you’ll be looking for in fundamental lacrosse practice.
Great for: Advanced players/professionals
Pros
- Heavy-duty aluminum frame
- Fully adjustable
- Quick and easy assembly
- Folds flat
Cons
Brine have a reputation for making top quality gear and this rebounder is no exception. It has a heavy duty aluminum frame that is sturdy enough to stand up to any weather, while its folding mechanism will delight the practical at heart who appreciate clever storage. As you’d expect at this price range, the mat and all fittings are top quality for extended usage. It is easy to assemble and the poles are very strong. However, we honestly couldn’t find anything more exceptional to warrant the hefty price tag. If you want the excellent quality from Brine and don’t mind paying for it, then this might be your next rebounder.
Great for: Beginner to advanced; Backyards
Pros
- Durable steel pipes
- Fully adjustable
- Surface dampener
- Limited edition
Cons
- If you consider “less than perfect” assembly (clarity) instructions, then this is about the only negative we could find in our research
When you’re presenting a product, especially sports products, it helps to have the backing of a pro. This one is no exception and in fact, not only is it backed by 2014 MVP Casey Powell, it was actually designed by him. This fact alone pushes this pitch back into the spotlight of a top creation. It also includes a training guide from him to help improve your game. The rebounder itself is great, with a durable steel frame that locks into place for easy assembly. The netting is designed with a special dampener to enhance the pitch back and also so you can easily use it in the backyard. The only gripe is that it’s on the expensive end which may put it out of reach for many people, especially as it’s marketed for youths/beginners. Still, customers love it and the quality is undeniable so check this one out if it falls into your budget.
Great for: Beginner to advanced; Backyards
Pros
- Durable steel pipes
- Adjustable frame
- Surface dampener
- Cheaper than the limited edition
Cons
Another entry from Gladiator Lacrosse, this pitch back is very similar in overall design to the previous one by Casey Powell. This rebounder is ideal for beginner to advanced players and also contains the dampener in the netting to allow use in backyards large and small. It has an extra heavy duty frame to let it take powerful shots from any player during shooting drills as well as whatever the weather throws at it too. Not having the Casey Powell name on it might disappoint some, but delight others searching for a lower price tag. This is an excellent bit of gear in its own right and rightfully has ‘professional’ in the label.
Great for: Backyards/multiple sports
Pros
- Light
- Double-sided
- Sturdy, adjustable A-frame
Cons
- Challenging to put together
- Shorter than the average rebounder
If you’re looking to improve your skills across a number of sports, then this training rebounder is a great start. With this net by Lacrosse Scoop, you’re sure to get something that has been produced (and most importantly, improved) with a history of trial and error over time. While this rebounder is not the ideal net for everyone playing the game, it certainly will give you enough practice with a very good quality rebounder.
One great aspect about this rebounder is that it is easily adjustable for various angles as well as for the degree of tightness or rebound. Another thing to note is that the training rebounder is light, making it easy to carry around the backyard for younger kids and to take it to the field – so no more excuses that it’s too heavy! This is a good all-rounder that will fulfil your practicing pleasure at a reasonable cost.
Great for: Kids/small and large yards
Pros
- Easy to assemble
- Affordable option
- Sturdy construction
Cons
The budget range in Champion Sports still deals an excellent dedicated lacrosse pitch back. It is easy to assemble and the strong frame will ensure it stands up to most hits. As with the other rebounders higher up the price bracket, it is adjustable to different angles and folds up easily for convenient storage. The coarse netting is a bit of a disappointment though as some customers have noted that it doesn’t adequately return the ball as finer netting. All in all, this is a great option for young players looking to get some decent practice in the backyard, and for this it is excellent.
Great for: Backyards and fields
Pros
- Quick assembly
- Made for baseball, softball, soccer, football, basketball, volleyball and lacrosse
- High-quality netting
- Easily folds
- Made in USA
Cons
- Big and Heavy, so some purchasers were concerned about their kids moving the unit (too hard to move)
- Can be SIX TIMES more expensive than a “normal” rebounder
Players that complain that their pitch back takes too long to set up need to look no further. The All Ball Pro’s prompt playability starts from the box. It features 3 screen positions and the ability to tilt to any angle. It boasts a 95% ball return rate (that’s higher than any I’ve seen) and its American-made construction ensures it not only lasts a long time, but it’s extremely sturdy. I would know since I own 2 ball return units of the “less pricey” kind. They both fail when anything bigger than a golf ball is pitched at them and they are not sturdy.
The Stinger X will fit into most cars so portability won’t be an issue. Of course, the REALLY big negative is that it costs $700 compared to most others that range from $70 – $120 or so. Do you get what you pay for? Well, yes – sort of. The AllBall Pro is definitely heads and shoulders above its competitors, but the question of the day is “is it really $600 better??!” Only you can decide, but if budget is not as big a restriction, then I’d suggest this one for pure quality and performance.
Great for: Any backyard or field
Pros
- Sturdy, adjustable frame
- Dampened rebound surface
- Can be used for other sports
- Good quality netting
Cons
This rebounder is one of the most popular and best ones that STX makes. As you’d expect from a pitch back at this price, the quality of the framework is excellent. It is made of steel and can absorb hits on it at most speeds and angles. The netting is of a high-quality mesh that has a dampening feature on it to rebound balls accurately and moderately. Some people have said it’s quite heavy, making carting it to and from the field a bit of an issue. Also, we feel the price is on the steep side when you can get the likes of the EZ Goal for around this price, which is a lot bigger. But nonetheless, the brand and quality speak for themselves and the rebounder comes highly recommended for its durability and the potential for improvement in your game.
Conclusion & Recommendations
When it comes to purchasing a good rebounder, there’s honestly not much difference among the different types. There are your dedicated, top-quality pitch backs that have high-quality netting, can be adjusted and have a solid steel frame. Then you can buy ones with coarser netting that are more suitable across a range of sports. These are usually cheaper and offer good value if you or your children play multiple sports. They can also simply be fun for kids’ parties and get-togethers, or for schools and clubs that cater to a variety of sports. The budget-conscious out there will also appreciate that they can have a great product to practice lacrosse drills for a reasonably low price. For this latter type, you really can’t go past the Champion Sports Multi-sport net or the STX double sided training rebounder. They’re both excellent quality all-rounders that are able to cover a few sports as well as being light and foldable.
For a more professional lacrosse rebounder, the EZ Goal is far and away the best you can get. If not the reasonable price for top quality, but for the fact that it’s simply the biggest net on the market! The ability to practice all manner of shots will be useful in the long run and you won’t regret having this in your backyard or in the car on the way to the training field. There are other excellent alternatives like the Champion Sports Deluxe and the Casey Powell designed pitch back from Gladiator Sports. They both offer excellent workmanship and durability for those driving hits as well as the weather they will inevitably find themselves in.
In the end, it comes down to your budget and what you’re prepared to get out of your game. If lacrosse is king in your house, it’s really recommended to buy a dedicated rebounder. In the end, the purpose of you buying it is to mimic the game as accurately as possible so that you will see results on the field.

Best Lacrosse Rebounder to Buy in 2021 [Reviews & Buyer’s Guide]
Lacrosse Rebounder Buyer’s Guide
Essentially, rebounders are quite a simple piece of kit. They are designed to return the ball at you with the right force and consistency. But with so many options on the market though, you’ve got to choose carefully. How do you know you’re buying the best quality piece of equipment? There are ways of ensuring you get what you need.
Here’s what you need to know before buying.
<Net Sizing>
The first thing to think about is the size of the net. You can find all different kinds of shapes and sizes, and you’ve got to consider what size is right for you. The bigger the net, the more power it can take. Are you looking to practice putting power behind your throws? Then you’ll need a bigger net. If you want to improve your accuracy, then a smaller net will be better.
The age of the player is important to consider, too. How old are they, and how much power do they have behind their throws? A younger player may need a smaller rebounder to start with. Also, think about the space you have to use it in.
Can you fit a large rebounder in, or do you need something smaller?
<High Quality Framing>
The frame of your rebounder needs to be of the best quality. Remember, it needs to be able to take the impact of a ball being thrown at it again and again. Also, they need to be able to cope with being left outdoors. Even if you have bad weather, you don’t want the frame to rust or start to break apart.
A metal frame is better, as they’re heavier and will stay in place as you use it. Rounded steel or fiberglass is your best bet, as they’re often the best possible quality available. Fiberglass is usually better for younger players, as they won’t need to stand up to quite as powerful throws, however they will stand up to weather. These types are usually powder coated and made to be UV resistant, so they won’t be damaged or faded by the sun either.
Take a look for frames that can be folded up and put away, too. Sometimes you won’t want your rebounder in your yard, so you want to be able to put it away when needed. A portable rebounder will make your work a lot easier of putting away the rebounder.
<Best Netting>
Another important part of your rebounder is the netting. This is what’s going to take the impact of the ball, so it needs to be tough enough to be able to do this. A good, tight-knit weave is the best option here, as it will ensure that the net will stay together without ripping when you use it. Look for all-weather netting, as this will be designed to stand up to bad weather when the rebounder is left outside. You don’t want the net to break because you can’t store the whole unit indoors.
Take a look at how the net is attached to the frame, too. Usually, this should be via bungee cords or springs. These should be good quality as they’ll give the net the tension it needs to work properly. See if it’s easy to buy replacements, as if they break you want to get it working again ASAP. Also, check if the unit comes with an outdoor cover or if there is an option to buy one separately.
<Bungee Cord Vs. Spring Systems>
Lax rebounders can broadly be grouped into two categories based on what rebounding technique they use. The first one and the most common is the stretchable bungee cords. The second one and the more expensive option is the spring-loaded systems. Both of them have their pros and cons.
As the name implies, the bungee cords are attached to the pitch net, keeping it firm and tight. The more chords you use, the tighter the net will be. But the issue with bungee cords is that they tend to lose their elasticity after a while and don’t do well under the weather. This means you would need to replace them often, but the good thing is that they aren’t expensive and are easy to replace.
Spring systems, on the other hand, don’t use a net; instead, they use an elastic mat. They’re more durable and offer better rebounding in comparison with bungee cords based rebounders. However, they’re difficult to repair, if any of the spring goes bad and comes with a smaller hitting target.
If you’re looking for a rebounder for your team or for professional practice, we suggest going for spring-based pitch nets. However, for home and intermediate level usage, net rebounders are more than sufficient.
<Manufacturer’s Warranty>
Something that you should look for in any rebounder is a manufacturer’s warranty. You want to know that the manufacturer takes pride in what they’ve made. If there’s any problem, you need to be able to get repairs or replacement parts without any hassle.
Any good manufacturer should, of course, be able to do this for you. Many do offer this, so take a look at descriptions when you’re looking at rebounders for sale. It’s much better to buy one with a warranty, just in case.
<Pricing>
Finally, you need to consider pricing in your rebounder. You don’t want to spend a huge amount of money, but you don’t want to buy something that will fall apart in six months. How can you be sure you’re getting the best equipment for your money?
Take a look at customer reviews, and see what they have to say. They’re usually very honest about what they’ve bought, and they’ll say if they thought the item was worth what they paid for it. Take their views into consideration, and budget for a rebounder that will give you just what you need.
Professional lax rebounders from brands like brine or gladiator cost upwards of $180. Although costly, they’re well worth the price considering the quality of the unit. For home use and practice, you can settle for a high-quality pitch net in the range of $100 to $140. Avoid cheap ones as their nets are generally of poor quality and don’t last very long.
Soccer or baseball rebounders have more or less the same function as Lacrosse bounce back nets, but there is a slight difference. The netting of soccer or baseball rebounders is larger as the balls used in the sport are also larger in comparison to lacrosse balls. As a result, the ball returns would be weak and often random.
So, to answer your query: Yes, you may use other sports rebounders, but the experience wouldn’t be the same.
Rebounder Drills to Improve Lacrosse Skills
Did your young lacrosse lover receive a brand new rebounder for the holidays? And a new Swax Lax lacrosse training ball? Well, if so, that’s one lucky child! And, now it’s time to put these awesome lacrosse gifts to good use!
Rebounders are great training tools because they encourage growth beyond the field. When paired with a Swax Lax lacrosse training ball, rebounders can be an excellent option for extra practice. We love to use them at this time of year in the gym during our winter lacrosse clinics. Of course, you can set them up in the backyard, but if you have room in your basement or a garage, they’re a great way for your kids to keep warm, get exercise, and improve their lacrosse skills when cold weather makes going outdoors less than ideal.
Here are a few of our favorite rebounder-specific drills that work for both indoor or outdoor use:
Hand Pass & Catch
Start easy with a strong hand pass and catch. Your child should be able to find the sweet spot where the ball comes back to the stick at shoulder height with some regularity. It will be different for each child depending on the tension of the rebounder, the strength of the pass, and the distance from the rebounder. You may consider marking the spot with something your child won’t trip over. To get into a rhythm, 25 repetitions is a good start. Next, if your child’s confidence is up for it, try 25 with the non-dominant hand. This will be more challenging and a little slower, but it’s great for building strength and comfortability in the off hand.
Strong Hand Pass & Cross Hand Catch
Now, let’s do a strong hand pass to a cross hand catch. Sounds really tough, but it isn’t. If your child is right-handed, just get them to throw a little to the left of their sweet spot on the rebounder. The ball should come back at shoulder height on their left side. Without changing hands, have them catch the ball cross-handed on their right side and cradle across their face to their strong hand again. Repeat 25 times. They will develop a rhythm with this drill as well. After showing some mastery of this, get them to try it with their off hand.
Next, up the ante and difficulty level by starting with a ball a few steps to the left of the rebounder (we are describing this for a right-handed player). Throw the ball at the rebounder. Quickly move to the right and try to catch the ball as it comes off the rebounder at an angle to the right side of the rebounder. When your child can do this 25 times in a row, then try it off hand. This drill is much more difficult and involves more trial and error, so remind your child to have patience and persistence.
Catching and Throwing On the Run
Catching and throwing on the run is one of the most difficult skills to master, but it is also one of the most useful skills to have on the field. Your child cannot do this drill enough. Adding a goal to shoot at after the catch on the run adds the greatest play in sports — “The Give and Go” — to your child’s repertoire. Getting a player to move their feet after a pass, instead of standing still admiring their pass, is a coach’s fantasy come true. Mastering that skill will move your child up the depth charts like a rocket.
Showing Their Skills
Grace, Shea, Charlie, and Brynn (from her bean-bag chair) demonstrate how they use Swax Lax balls and an All Ball Pro rebounder in their basement.

More Tips
These simple but effective drills will improve your son or daughter’s skill set, but only if they do the drills. Find a way to motivate them, and keep in mind that many rebounders can easily be moved outside or indoors to keep things interesting. Try not to critique, just encourage. As they see themselves getting better, they will want to practice more and more on their own.
As for tools, using a Swax Lax lacrosse training ball will make a big difference. Regular balls can ricochet off of the frame of a rebounder and go anywhere — across the yard, down the driveway, into a window, towards a table lamp, or even back into your face. Swax Lax training balls are softer and designed to not bounce or roll very much. They’re also the same size and weight as a regulation ball, so they give your child the same stick feel of a regular ball that they’ll need to succeed.
There are plenty of good rebounders out their but we’d be remiss not to point out the Cadillac of all rebounders: The All Ball Pro. Innovative, durable, and high quality, they offer some of the best rebounders we’ve ever come across.
Armed with a few basic drills and the proper tools, your child is ready to enjoy their gifts. Keep it fun and fresh and get them off the couch and on the move.
Please remember to wear appropriate protective gear while using a rebounder!

Methodical development “Teaching the basic technical elements in volleyball at the stage of initial training”
INTRODUCTION
Volleyball is a sport, a team sports game, during which two teams compete on a special area separated by a net, trying to direct the ball to the opponent’s side so that it lands on the opponent’s court (to finish off the floor), or so that a player of the defending team made a mistake.
Volleyball techniques include standing and moving, serving and receiving the ball, passing, attacking strikes and blocking. Although, at first glance, some of the techniques seem to be quite simple, it is rather difficult to apply them effectively in the game.
This is due to a short touch of the ball, as a result of which it is impossible to correct the error. The small area of contact with the ball complicates the accuracy of the technique. Three touches of the ball require high precision. Therefore, mastering the rational technique of the game is the main task in the technical training of female volleyball players. This task will be successful if the training process uses:
a) the principle of gradualness in teaching the technique of the game (without fixing one motor skill, do not switch to another).
b) purposeful physical training.
c) knowledge of biomechanical patterns of movement when performing technical techniques in volleyball.
d) knowledge of the causes of errors in training and correction of these errors.
e) training exercises, simulators, their own example make the technique of movements in children without distorting their essence.
Accurate and accessible information is needed for a high-quality study of technique, and if the coach can not only tell, but also show techniques, children assimilate the information better.
1. Teaching the basic technical elements in volleyball
Modern volleyball is a complex sport that requires a player to be physically fit and have perfect technical and tactical skills of the game. The specificity of volleyball is the performance of one-touch techniques by one player and no more than three touches of the ball by the whole team in one game episode, a quick change of situations, the need for the interaction of all players, a relatively small playground.
Volleyball technique consists of special technical elements or techniques that volleyball players use during the game. The main technical elements are as follows: moving and standing, passing the ball from above, receiving the ball from below, serving, attacking and blocking.
Each technical element allows several ways of its implementation, taking into account a specific situation.
To play volleyball at the initial stage, it is very important to have good command of three elements:
The first one is stands and displacements.
The stance is the starting position of the player for moving, or performing a game element.
There are the following types of racks :
- stand for moving on the block, or for blocking.
- stands for moving when receiving the serve, or for receiving the serve.
- stands for moving when receiving attacking blows, or for receiving attacking blows.
- stands for moving when transferring to impact, or for top gear.
- stand for takeoff run.
With all types of stances, the legs are bent at the knees. The center of gravity of the body is moved forward. Feet are on the same level or one is brought forward.
Hands in a stand to receive an attacking blow must be brought forward at the waist level due to the high speed of the ball.
Basic types of movements to the ball:
- forward (step, jump),
- to the side (side step or with a cross step),
- backward (step, with cross step with turning and running),
- complex movements.
Stops are also very important. Which can be classified:
- lunge,
- by putting the foot,
- on two legs (jump).
90,051 leaps,
1 . 1. Main racks (initial positions) and displacements
Many children are simply afraid of the ball. When teaching beginners to the elements of volleyball, it is necessary to start with the simplest exercises for the development of special dexterity:
- Rotation of the ball around the body, around and between the legs (figure eight).
- Dribbling the ball with one or two hands in place and with advancement in various ways (face, sideways, back, side steps, squatting, jumping, etc.)or rolling the ball.
- Throwing and catching the ball with one or two hands while standing, sitting, moving, jumping and after moving.
- Moving and turning with a ball between the legs.
A combination of throwing and catching the ball with one or two players moving around the court.
At the initial stage, it is important to teach the child to move quickly in various ways: forward, backward, left side, right side, with a cross step, side step, jumps, and also stop. You can stop with a lunge, leap, on two legs (jump) and putting your foot (step). The main requirement for movements and stops is to determine the correct meeting point with the ball, quickly go under the ball, turn your shoulders in the direction of the intended direction of the transfer and take the correct stance.
The stance is the starting position of the player for moving or performing a game element. There are three main stances:
1. A high stance is when a player is about to serve or hit, block or pass.
2. The middle stance is the most important: in it the player prepares to take the serve, make a pass from above or below, or attack.
3. Low stance is when the knees are bent more than 90 degrees. It is designed to be played on the defensive.
Leading exercises for movements:
- Various types of running (forward facing or backward, sideways, with high thighs, with overlapping of the lower leg)
- Jumping forward (on one or two legs)
- Running with tasks performed according to a sound or visual signal, with a change in direction, with an acceleration.
- Starts from various positions and stands.
- Shuttle Run.
Children who do these exercises quickly and accurately learn the lower gear more quickly after stopping.
The second very important element in learning at the beginner level is the bottom-up with both hands.
Learning volleyball in general largely depends on the successful development of this technique. Despite the seeming simplicity, there are a lot of nuances here.
Before receiving the ball, the feet are located at the same level, or one in front of the other by 0.5-1 feet. Feet at least shoulder-width apart. When passing forward, the body is tilted forward in all phases, when passing behind the back – vertically. Legs bent at the knees begin to straighten before the arms. Before handing over, the arms (forearms and hands) are at waist level, elbows in front of the body. The hands are folded into a “lock” (one is compressed, the other embraces) and the thumbs are lowered parallel to each other. The arms are straightened at the elbows and tightly folded. The ball is taken on the forearms, just above the wrist joints.
1.2. Training to receive the ball from below
Learning to take the ball from below begins with theory, with the correct positioning of the arms and legs. It is necessary to show by example so that children can see where the ball flies, if the posture is correct and where the ball will fly if you take the wrong posture. Leading exercises for mastering the technique from below:
- Correct combination of the position of both arms and the main stance.
- Coach or partner presses on the forearms.
- Toss the ball, after bouncing off the floor, put your hands under the ball, after a vertical rebound, catch the ball.
- Throw the ball into the wall, after bouncing off the floor, put your hands under the ball, directing it up to the wall – forward, catch the ball from the wall.
- Toss the ball, put folded hands under the ball. After a vertical bounce from the arms, catch the ball.
- From the coach’s or partner’s precision throw, return the ball with a low pass.
- Throw the ball into the wall, put your hands under the ball, directing it into the wall, catch the ball from the wall.
- Throw the ball up – forward, move, performing a lower pass above you, catch the ball.
- Double and multiple transfers over oneself or into a wall.
- Low gear from player to player.
- Lower gear above you with forward-backward movement to the side.
When performing the lower gear, errors are possible; they must be immediately indicated, explaining the reason.
The third element of and the main element for playing volleyball through the net is the serve.
While the team is serving, it dictates the game.
Feeds can be classified:
- in height of hitting the ball (lower and upper)
- by position relative to the grid (straight and side)
- by the nature of the flight of the ball (with and without rotation)
Bottom feed technique requirement:
- before the lower straight serve, the feet are directed to the net, opposite to the striking hand is in front of the other at 0.5-1.5 feet are standing, and with the lateral ones they are located parallel to the net at the width of the shoulders,
- position of the striking hand in the backswing, the toss is performed to a height
- which ensures the accuracy of hitting the ball. Players with poor coordination may serve without a toss,
- the torso is slightly tilted forward and the blow is delivered with a tense palm or fist,
- after the service, the body weight is transferred to the leg closest to the net, and the hand shows the direction of the ball’s departure.
90,051 Feet slightly bent at the knees when serving,
90,051 hands with the ball before the toss are at waist level,
Upper straight feed requirement:
- before serving, the feet are directed towards the intended departure of the ball,
- feet with the opposite hand with the beating hand stand in front of the other by 0.5-1.5 feet,
- the hand with the ball before the toss is in an extended position above the belt,
- position of the striking hand in the swing: hand above the shoulder joint above the head, elbow above the shoulder, thumb maximally set aside,
- the toss is performed vertically,
- The swing begins with shoulder abduction, the trunk deviates slightly and the blow begins with the forward movement of the shoulder, then the arm straightens at the elbow joint,
- The ball is hit with the base of a tense palm or fist,
- after the serve, the body weight is transferred to the front leg, and the hand shows the direction of the ball’s departure.
1.3. Innings. Feed Training
Service is a means of introducing the ball into play. It is important to get the ball into the opponent’s court without error. At the initial stage, children are taught the bottom feed. The most important thing is to explain the technique of the bottom feed and show, while explaining possible errors. Lead exercises are mainly performed with weighted balls:
- Throwing a weighted ball (basketball) into the wall or to a partner with two and one hands in many different ways (from behind the head, from the chest, back forward, from the bottom, etc.)etc.)
- Multiple repetitions of the service through the net, standing at different distances from the net.
The straight top feed teaching must be done at the same time as the bottom feed teaching.
Sample training exercises:
- Imitation, at the expense of one – throw your arms out of the rack in the swing position, at the expense of two – toss the ball, at the expense of three – shock movement.
- From the position of the hand with the ball at the bottom, throw it up and throw the ball forward. This exercise can be done both alone and with a partner with balls of different weight, repeating it many times.
- Toss the ball in front of you to a height just above your outstretched arm.
- Standing – hitting a suspended ball.
- Feed into the wall, into the partner, through the net from 3,6,9m.
If in the process of learning, children begin to get a feed, either lower or upper, they begin to improve it with special interest. In this situation, you need to show by your own example that, having a complex serve, you can achieve significant success in the game.
CONCLUSION
At the initial stage of training, it is very important to teach children the correct stances, movements and stops at the same time, teaching them how to serve and receive the ball from below. If the children have these three basic elements, they can already play volleyball through the net. Children will become interested in training, playing volleyball. It will already be possible to teach them other technical elements and improve the technique and quality of performance of what they can do.The training process will be more interesting for the children themselves. You can already form a team to participate in the competition.

3 proven ways to determine the strength of concrete
There are three most effective ways to measure the strength of concrete. In this article, you will learn how and how to measure the strength of concrete, which method is more suitable for your tasks.

3 Proven Ways To Determine The Strength Of Concrete!
When constructing a building, special attention must be paid to determining the strength of the concrete. Calculations, measurements must be carried out with high quality, so that you can roughly determine the service life of the building and some other parameters.
In science, the word “Strength” is defined as the resistance of a material to mechanical damage. There are strength rates specified in standards and regulations.
In addition to measuring a test sample in a laboratory, it is inevitable, with a qualitative approach, to study the concrete of a construction site – in order to identify the difference, if any, and eliminate it if the concrete at the construction site for some reason turned out to be worse than the reference sample.
There are three ways to determine the strength of concrete . By decreasing the influence on the sample, this has the following form.
1. Destructive and non-destructive testing to the content of
1.1. Destructive method
There is a sample that is tested by laminating it with a press. Samples are tested in two installations. The first tries to compress the sample into a small cube. And the second one is trying to simply chop off a piece of concrete. From their performance and operating time, conclusions are drawn about the quality of concrete.
1.2. Non-destructive method
It is especially good for measuring the strength of existing objects. For a non-destructive method for determining the strength of concrete, deformations are also characteristic, but their volume is much smaller.
There are two methods to measure strength without altering the structure of the material. The first is the use of mechanical percussion instruments. These include a variety of hammers and pistols. If the former is used to measure the diameter of the holes after impact, the latter is used to measure the rebound force of the impact rod – the elasticity of the material.
The greater the elasticity, the greater the overall strength.
2. The use of ultrasonic assessments. Back to content
As you know, in a dense environment, the speed of sound and ultrasonic data transmission increases. This means that the stronger the concrete, the faster ultrasound will be transmitted through it.
There are two types of transmission – surface (for walls and floors) and through (evaluation of piles, pillars, narrow support elements.)
It is divided into 2 types. The first, with the help of special formulas, is available to those who have received a special education in construction.
The second is available to everyone and is most often used in practice. A very small piece of concrete is taken, a hammer weighing about a pound and a chisel. The chisel is placed on a piece of concrete and a hammer is lowered onto it with medium force. The hammer bounces, you do not need to release it again. We remove the chisel and look at the diameter. If the concrete is not damaged, then these are the best types of concrete – from B 25 and above. If the concrete is slightly damaged (up to five millimeters), then these are medium grades of concrete – from B 10 to B 25. But if the concrete is damaged to a centimeter, then these are relatively weak grades – from B 5 to B 10.
This method of measuring the strength of concrete is suitable for everyone, it is easy to remember, but it is also worth remembering that this method is only suitable for small construction projects – when building official large buildings in which enterprises will be located or people will live, concrete must be assessed when assistance from invited experts and industrial formulas and installations.
Even if, say, you are repairing the roof of a private house, you will need to assess the strength of the concrete of the supporting structures on which this roof will hold.

How do bullets work in video games? / Habr
FPS games (first-person shooter, first-person shooter) have become an integral part of the video game industry since the appearance in 1992 of the most popular
Wolfenstein 3D
. Since then, the genre has evolved: graphics have improved, development budgets have increased, and the esports ecosystem has developed. But what about their foundation, the shooting mechanics? How did it develop on this front? Why do weapons feel real in some games and toys like in others?
In the previous era, many games used a technique called
raycasting
to render 3D scenes to 2D images.Raycasting allows the engine to determine the first object that the ray will cross. But then the developers asked the question: “What if you shoot a beam from the barrel of a weapon to simulate a bullet?” This idea gave birth to hitscan.
Example raycasting
In most implementations of a hitcan weapon, when the player fires, the physics engine performs the following operations:
- Determines the direction in which the weapon is pointing.
- Fires a beam from the barrel of the weapon at a specified distance.
- Uses raycasting to determine if a ray has hit an object.
If the engine determines that the object is in the line of fire, then it will inform it about this, saying that it was “hit” by a bullet. The target can then perform all the calculations required to record the damage.
From Unity . Point A denotes a weapon emitting a beam up to the maximum point B. The beam collides with a cube, which the engine informs that it has been hit.
Hitscan is simple in nature, but many different modifications can be made to add other logic:
- If we extend the beam beyond the first object it hits, we can pierce multiple objects on the line, like a railgun in Quake
- If we remove the maximum range from the beam, then we get a laser that will fly forever until it hits something
- You can programmatically make some surfaces reflective so that bullets bounce off them
Overwatch. Genji’s character deflect ability is an example of a reflective surface.
The main advantage of raycasting is its enormous processing speed. It computes quickly and does not require additional memory or CPU time to create a new physical object. This means that the networking code required to synchronize multiple clients will be minimal because the server only needs to track the direction of the beam. Recoil is also easy to implement; to simulate this effect, it is enough to add a small deviation in the weapon’s sight.
Therefore, it is not surprising that hitscan are used in the shooting logic of many games. Classic examples are Wolfenstein 3D and Doom , but this technology is used in modern games as well. Characters like Soldier 76, McCree and Widowmaker from Overwatch use weapons with hitscan, and most of the weapons in Call of Duty are also hitscan based.
Overwatch, Call of Duty, Wolfenstein 3D
So why isn’t this approach used in all games?
First, as you probably noticed, the rays have an infinitely high speed of movement, that is, they instantly hit the end point. There is no bullet movement time between the bullet firing and hitting the object. This means that if the beam hits an object, it is impossible to evade the bullet, even if the target is several kilometers from the player.
Halo. Note that muzzle flash and ground hit effects occur simultaneously.
Second, most hitscan implementations use straight beams. This means that it is difficult to account for wind, gravity and other external factors that can affect the bullet after it leaves the barrel.Programmers can add all sorts of tricks to make the beam simulate real bullets, but once the player has fired the beam, there is no way to change its path in the middle.
Many casual games still use hitscan because it simplifies the learning curve for most newbie players. But what about games that try to convey the “real” shooting experience? Under such constraints, this cannot be achieved, so a different method is needed.
This term may sound complicated, but on an abstract level, the idea is pretty simple. Each bullet or projectile fired from a weapon creates a new physical object in the scene. It has its own mass, velocity and hitbox, which are tracked by the game engine.
Max Payne 3
The benefits of ballistics are fully realized in games where realism is the highest priority. Since each flying object exists on its own, we can take into account the influence of wind, friction, gravity, temperature on it – any force that should act on the bullet. Now that we are able to change physics, players can use a wider variety of weapons, not just simple pistols and lasers; we can add grenades and rockets to our arsenal.
Since the bullets in such a system do not move at the speed of light, the timing properties can also be implemented:
- Bullet time used in Max Payne , Sniper Elite and Superhot .
- Bullet travel time, that is, when shooting at long distances (or firing a slow-moving projectile), anticipation becomes critical.
- Delayed explosions of projectiles, e.g. grenades
This additional computation makes processing more expensive than hitscan. To ensure synchronization, the servers have to do a lot more work, it is necessary to eliminate discrepancies or conflicts in the logic on the client side so that all players within the same server are in the same conditions.
Superhot, Battlefield 1, Overwatch
There are many workarounds to maximize your productivity. For example, the engine can store a pool of objects loaded before the start of the game and “turn on” them as needed. After hitting the surface, you can play the animation of the ballistics and disable the bullet, saving it for future use. This method allows you to save computing resources and memory occupied by multiple creation and destruction of objects.
There are also many ways to do computations, but at a high level the difference is where they decide to handle the game “tick” – the unit of time:
- The tick is calculated separately from the rendering logic, which means the game will have more accurate reproduction of objects even with dropped frames.More logic is required to calculate the exact time since the last render.
- Calculate the beat in each frame; binding physics to frame rate. If you turn off the limitation on the maximum frame rate or if the game starts to skip frames, then the physics of the world will accelerate or slow down.
The consequences of tying movement to bars are clearly visible when the projectiles are moving fast enough to travel a fairly large distance between bars.Situations may arise when objects “pass” through each other, because they have never intersected in the engine.
This all seems complicated, so many people think this is a relatively new method; however, it actually started earlier than hitscan! Before FPS games, there were many top-down shooters such as Asteroids , Space Invaders or Galaxian . These are arcade games from the 70s, in which the ballistics of projectiles were already implemented, albeit rather primitively.
Asteroids. The shells are hard to see, but they are there!
But even with all these features, we cannot create a realistic model of the real world. Is there any way to take advantage of both methods?
Most game engines are capable of handling both types of bullet simulations: hitscan and ballistics. This allows you to implement a huge selection of weapons; Games like
Halo
,
GTA
and
Half-Life
have weapons that can support both physics.
Halo. The Assault Rifle uses hitscan; Needler uses projectile ballistics
Developers can also mix both techniques to close the weak points of each system and provide more realistic behavior. For example, to eliminate the problem of objects passing through each other, each bullet in each cycle of the engine can emit a beam. This allows the engine to see if any of the beams will cross between bars, colliding in mid-air.
They can also be combined to improve the game’s features. An excellent example of this is the Sniper Elite series; after pulling the trigger, the engine uses hitscan to determine if a shot is fired close enough to any detectable object to trigger slow motion. If yes, then the bullet is fired with the calculation of ballistics in the “bullet-time” mode.
