DCP Students Make History At UF Lacrosse Stadium – UF College of Design, Construction and Planning

The University of Florida’s Donald R. Dizney Stadium’s locker room facility on UF’s campus is the first building in Florida to be LEED certified by students and just the 11th globally.
Led by DCP Sustainability and the Built Environment Program Director and UF Green Building Learning Collaborative Director Bahar Armaghani, LEED Lab students successfully certified the lacrosse locker room facility under the LEED v4.1 certification. Since LEED Lab’s inception in 2014, 186 students have participated in the experience. Through their pursuit, students have experienced hands-on learning, strengthened their professional skills and attained LEED credentials.
The LEED Lab class is capped at 16 students to ensure an intimate, enriching experience. Students work in teams devoted to various aspects of the sustainable built environment, including energy and lighting, water and indoor environmental quality (IEQ). Students conduct building energy, water, and IEQ audits and utility data analysis through a comprehensive understanding of the building by examining building drawings, occupancy, location, systems and utility consumption.
“Throughout this process, students learn about a variety of green building techniques and strategies, while broadening their project management and communication skills,” Armaghani, a LEED Fellow, wrote in a description of the project.
The program also aims to strengthen students’ communication and interpersonal skills. The team-oriented dynamic enables students to understand the value each team member brings to the project.
The LEED Lab program also prepares participants for the LEED Green Associate or LEED AP exam, two exams that lend students greater credentials in their prospective careers. According to Armaghani, LEED Lab has been an employment catalyst for placements at Siemens, Espston, TLC, Sequel, Holder Construction and Eco Preserve.
SBE’s longstanding partnership with the University Athletic Association sparked students’ collaboration with the facility. Armaghani says the UAA has supported the LEED program since the beginning and offers its buildings as a learning laboratory for students.
“We are so fortunate to have such great facilities at the University of Florida, especially our LEED certified locker room,” Florida Lacrosse Head Coach Amanda O’Leary said. “UF is leading the charge in innovative ways to make our campus greener, and we are thrilled to be a part of that.”
The Donald R. Dizney Stadium’s locker room facility earned its LEED V4.1 certification in April 2020. Students presented the project’s case study to the public through the U.S. Green Building Council’s webinar three days later.
The LEED Lab students’ dedication to the project was inspiring, and it corroborates why they were the first group of students in Florida to achieve a LEED Gold certification for a building.
“The most rewarding moment of every semester is watching students’ knowledge, skills and confidence reflect in their final project,” Armaghani said.

City College of New York | Studying in the USA as an Engineer
The City College of New York (established in 1847 as the “Free Academy”) is an institution of the City University of New York that houses eight schools and departments, each dedicated to advancing research and knowledge. They are the place where Albert Einstein first introduced his theory of general relativity outside of Europe, their alumni discovered the polio vaccine, contributed to the creation of the Internet, and designed the Panama Canal. Their graduates have gone on to become Supreme Court justices, secretaries of state, industry leaders, world-renowned researchers, and award-winning actors and musicians. They are the city college of yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Since 1847, the City College of New York has provided quality, affordable education to generations of New Yorkers in a variety of disciplines. CCNY accepts its role at the forefront of social change.
Located in the heart of New York City, CCNY is home to important “firsts” such as: the first college founded on the ethos of teaching “whole people”, the first documentary film program in the US, the first intercollegiate lacrosse game played in the US, the first student government in the country and the longest running Alumni Association in the US.
It ranked #1 in the Chronicle of Higher Education out of 369 selective public colleges in the US in the overall mobility index. This measure reflects both access and outcomes, reflecting the likelihood that a student at CCNY can move up two or more income quintiles. In addition, the Center for World University Rankings ranks CCNY in the top 1.2% of universities in the world in terms of academic excellence. More than 16,000 students are pursuing bachelor’s and master’s degrees from eight professional schools and departments, driven by significant funding for research, creativity, and scholarship. CCNY is as diverse, dynamic and forward-thinking as New York City itself.
Programs in architecture, engineering, education, and the humanities prepare their students for the future and produce outstanding leaders in every field. They are drawn to traditional fields such as philosophy or sociology, or new fields such as sound arts or biomedical engineering, and their undergraduate graduates go on to master’s programs at Stanford, Columbia or MIT – or they stay here in one of their 50 master’s programs or their doctoral programs in engineering, laboratory science and psychology.
Nowhere else in the city do students have so many opportunities to conduct research with professors, publish and present their results, except in the city college. In its science, engineering, and social science programs, over 300 undergraduates work alongside senior researchers on funded projects. Leading CUNY in funded research, they have a number of research centers with two new cutting-edge research centers coming soon to South Campus. Nearly all of their tenured faculty have PhDs or, like their architecture department, support professional practice. Art professors showcase their work, film professors make films, and music professors perform at venues around the country.
The campus is full of student activity. City College has 16 student teams that compete in NCAA Division III – and students work out in a well-equipped fitness center and socialize in over 100 student clubs. And their students come from all over the world and represent more than 150 nationalities. City College of New York consists of five schools and Macaulay Honors College. The five schools of the City College of New York are the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, which is divided into four departments (Division of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Division of Social Sciences, Division of Science, and Division of Interdisciplinarity). He studies at the City College in the city center, at 25 Broadway), at the School of Architecture. U.S. News & World Report ranked CCNY 85th among 620 regional universities in the North in its 2016 rankings. (“Regional Universities” is defined as institutions offering a wide range of undergraduate programs, some master’s degrees, but few, if any, doctoral programs. Cate School (Kate School) school in the USA – disciplines and tuition fees
The Cate School campus is located in the suburbs of Santa Barbara and covers an area of 60 hectares. On the territory, in addition to educational buildings and residences for living, there is a library, a theater, creative studios, two sports complexes, an aqua center with two swimming pools and tennis courts.
The school has seven academic departments: Art, English, Foreign Language, Mathematics, Science, History, Sociology. In grades 9 and 10, students study fundamental disciplines, and in grade 11 they take additional courses that will help them enter the university.
School was founded in 1910 by Curtis Keith. His motto was: “Always strive to achieve peace that stretches beyond the horizon.” And now Cate School is committed to a special spirit and high educational standards. Here the formation of the character of the students occurs organically. Students learn responsibility, wisdom and patience, as well as the ability to work and actively spend their leisure time.
Cate School believes that art is not only an opportunity to discover your abilities and find a way to express yourself, but also an opportunity to learn new ways of thinking that can be applied to the study of other disciplines and solving life’s problems. Therefore, the school has a jazz band, a theater studio, a choir, and a fine arts studio. Several times a year, students give concerts and performances, help in volunteer work at the Bruno Art Gallery and Hooker Art Gallery.
In 2016, fourteen Cate School students received the “Promising Young Artist” awards from the prestigious US youth art organization Scholastic Art Awards.
The school sports program consists of 22 athletic teams with more than fifteen victories from 2012 to 2014. The school is a member of the Tri-County High School Athletic Association, which organizes tournaments between US schools.
