True Lacrosse, Lax.
com Raise Funds for University of Chicago Medicine
CHICAGO, IL, September 01, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ — True Lacrosse, a national premier lacrosse organization, and Lax.com, a top lacrosse specialty dealer, joined forces to raise funds that will aid in COVID-19 relief for the University of Chicago Medicine.
“We did some research and found The University of Chicago Medicine has been at the forefront of the relief efforts, so we launched a nationwide fundraiser to aid in the battle against COVID-19 in the hard-hit area of greater Chicago,” said Sean Finan, vice president of Norwalk-based Lax. com.
True Lacrosse and Lax.com raised over $6,000 to donate to The University of Chicago Medicine. With True Lacrosse corporate offices headquartered in Chicago and it is one of the hotspot areas of the pandemic, the two companies partnered together to raise funds for COVID-19 relief.
True Lacrosse and Lax.com decided to host a fundraiser to reach out to the lacrosse community to provide them with an opportunity to raise funds for their greatly impacted local community. The results of the fundraiser have left both companies delighted and proud to say they are a part of the lacrosse community.
“When the pandemic hit, communities all over the nation came together even though no one could physically be together,” explained Jake Deane, co-owner of True Lacrosse. “The harder the virus hit cities, the stronger the hospitals, doctors and nurses fought to protect it. Now, it’s our turn to pay it forward to them a little bit.”
True Lacrosse and Lax.com presented the donation to the University of Chicago Medicine last week. This fundraiser is just one of the many efforts True Lacrosse and Lax.com have put forth to help those on the frontlines. They are true players in this effort, and both companies are honored to be a part of it.

90,000 “Chicago” – “Carolina” – 3: 4 B, video, goals, review of the NHL regular season match
And in overtime of the game with “Chicago” the Russian leader of the “hurricanes” almost repeated his signature trick.
Before the game in Chicago, the Carolina camp received bad news for the Hurricane fans – the main goalkeeper of the team, Petr Mrazek, who had a great start to the season, was retired for a long time due to an injury sustained on the last day of January in a duel with Dallas . .. Mrazek injured his hand in a collision with a teammate, was replaced already in the 3rd minute of that meeting, and now the examination has shown that the Czech will need an operation.
Losing the main goalkeeper is always stressful for the team. But so far “Carolina” is coping with it successfully. With Jace Rymer in goal, the Hurricanes beat Dallas again, and today, in a bitter struggle, they broke the resistance of Chicago. The Canadian became one of the creators of the victory, saved 30 shots and took all three post-match shootouts performed by the hosts, but Carolina had other heroes that evening.
For example, Andrey Svechnikov. The 20-year-old Russian has a great start this season, he is the top scorer and sniper of the hurricanes, and already at the beginning of the game with Chicago, Candle Jr. reminded of himself. On the spot, he closed the excellent pass of Jordan Staal, who dragged the puck into the zone, playfully wiped off the powerful Nikita Zadorov and made a candy pass with one hand. After this, Svechnikov had no right to miss!
After 11 minutes, Staal presented another goal to his partner, this time Warren Vögele. The captain of “Carolina” picked up the puck on the far penny after rebounding from the goalkeeper of “Chicago” Lankinen, slowly turned around and deceived two defenders at once with a soft pass to the rolling partner.Graceful and beautiful.
Video copyright NHL Enterprises, L.P. You can watch the video on the official website of the NHL.
True, after that the “Carolina” started having problems. “Chicago” managed to recoup even before the end of the first period. First, the “black hawks” played the majority beautifully, leading Philip Kurashev to the final throw into the empty net, and then Patrick Kane took advantage of the “hurricane’s” mistake in his zone. After such a vigorous period, the teams staged a scoring drought in the second segment, and in the middle of the third, Vincent Trocek was lucky with the puck rebound, he brought Carolina ahead and caught up with Svechnikov in the intra-team sniper race.
However, Andrey had several chances to regain his sole leadership. Even after “Chicago” made the score 3: 3 (Strohm scored), the Russian forward had several amazing chances. For example, in one of the episodes he beautifully “stripped” Zadorov on the blue line, drove around other defending players of “Chicago”, and only the skill of Lankinen saved the “Blackhawks” from trouble.
Already in overtime, Svechnikov scored his third lacrosse goal in his NHL career, but the puck got off the hook. However, in the shootout, the Russian nevertheless became the main character for his team: “Chicago” and “Carolina” performed five unsuccessful attempts for two, Andrei came out to beat the sixth and did not disappoint.

The Hurricanes won their sixth win of the season and topped the Central Division table. And Andrei Svechnikov was noted not only for his scoring achievements, but also for his most powerful hit. In one of the episodes, the Russian literally knocked out Karl Söderberg with a pure forceful technique. Thus, Svechnikov took revenge on the experienced Swede for sending Brett Pesce to the ice a few seconds earlier.
Video copyright NHL Enterprises, L.P. You can watch the video on the official “Twitter” of “Carolina”.
Svechnikov is a real Russian hurricane! He succeeds everywhere and takes down his rivals with his power, and in fact he is only 20 years old. And this season promises to be truly breakthrough for Andrey, despite the shortened format.

Simple manipulations
Now I am reading the book “The Psychology of Influence”.The book is about how compliance professionals use different tactics to get what they want. “Compliance professionals” are all sorts of sales people, consultants in stores, businessmen and, in general, ordinary people who have learned how to effectively manipulate other people in some contexts for their own benefit.
The author has brought together different levers of managing people and accompanied them with the results of many studies and examples from different areas of life.
In general, the book is useful both for those who want to manipulate and for those who do not want to be deceived.
To avoid even the possibility of being deceived, I try not to buy anything other than what I really need (well, I don’t go to sites like amazon and aliexpress). And today came the day when I needed to buy clothes and a situation exactly described in the book happened to me.
When leaving the house, I accidentally came up with the idea to buy a volleyball. I used to love to play volleyball, but I haven’t played for a long time and now I decided to take a ball for myself. After shopping for clothes as planned, I went to a sports store and asked a consultant about volleyballs.
He showed me 3 balls and named the prices in this order:
Mikasa, the official FIVB ball, the price seems to be 189CHF (which seems to be 25% more than the minimum wage in Russia)
Mikasa, just a good ball, the price is 49CHF
Mikasa, good ball, but not a fashionable coloring, price 29CHF
In general, I liked all three balls and most likely were of the same quality, just stylized differently.
I was surprised at such a big difference in prices, I thought I would take the average price of the ball, and I was a little upset that I would not have the most “top” ball.It is important that at the moment when I came to the store I had no idea how much volleyballs cost.
A minute later, while I was touching the balls and was upset that I would not take the top one, the consultant told me “ohh, I checked the price and it turned out that the ball was worth 89CHF, not 189CHF. ” Well, I happily paid 89CHF and only two hours later I realized what happened to me exactly, what was written in one of the examples in the book:
1) The consultant showed me the “cool” ball first, and then others: here he put the label on the first ball is the “FIVB official ball”.
2) Having named a 4 times higher price for a “cool” ball, he implicitly suggested to me that the first ball is much better than the others: here the contrast mechanism worked.
3) He gave me time to touch the balls and have time to get attached to the most “cool”: here the sequence mechanism worked, if you consider yourself cool, then you want the “cool” ball.
4) He gave me good news: the mechanism of mutual exchange worked here, we love people who give us good news and are ready to repay them disproportionately more.
As a result, the consultant sold the most expensive ball, and I got a “cool” ball and a cool experience.
I hope next time I will find such a situation immediately on the spot, and not after the fact, but if I did not read the book, I would not even understand what happened. Everything was done so beautifully and organically.
Success, Canadian maestro! – Hockey club Vityaz – official site
Press Service of HC Vityaz Moscow Region, May 04, 2021 |
Danforth leaves for NHL
Justin Danforth is a Canadian meteor so beloved by Vityaz fans.According to the results of a recent vote, he became the author of the best goal of the outgoing season. Alas, Danforth also leaves the team. Justin on Monday, May 3, signed a contract with the NHL “Columbus Blue Jackets”.
We can say a farewell interview of a Canadian with our fans. However, never say “Never!”
Maria Karzina had a conversation with the Canadian for the press service of “Vityaz”.
⁃ Hello Justin! Good to see you! Let’s start our interview?
⁃ Hello Mary, mutually! Of course yes!
⁃ How would you describe your first season at Vityaz and in the KHL?
⁃ As a team, we at Vityaz experienced both ups and downs throughout the season. We played well with serious teams and won victories. We fought high caliber teams. And even defeats, which should have broken our faith in ourselves, forced us to fight further, but this was not enough to reach the playoffs.
⁃ The fans chose your goal as the best of the season and you as the best player of the year (and, by the way, Justin was named the best player on the team twice – in September and October).
⁃ It’s a pleasure to get this kind of fan recognition. They watched the team all season, and it’s incredibly cool to know that I entered the top of the best, given that there are many excellent players in our team who showed stability in the game, acted correctly and harmoniously.Their ardor did not fade even in the most difficult moments.
⁃ Let’s continue with the fans. How do you like the support in Podolsk?
⁃ Vityaz’s fans are just great! Obviously, due to the situation with Covid-19, the season was not what we wanted, it was difficult for our fans to attend all our games, they had to follow all instructions. But when they were in the arena, it was indescribable! They shared their support and emotions with us throughout all the matches they attended.
⁃ This season was your first in Russia. Before arriving, you must have expected something special. What are your impressions now, after all?
⁃ Yes, now it is over! It was a good season. I didn’t know what to expect when I was traveling to another country. As you know, I have played in Finland and Canada. I had a wonderful time in Russia, I had great teammates, I thank them for everything, especially for the fact that they always helped us, newcomers, to find out if everything was in order. We also had a good time off the ice, went to restaurants, walked, just enjoyed a good company.
⁃ You said that you are trying to learn Russian. How is the case progressing?
⁃ My Russian is improving, – smiles, – I have great motivation and desire to learn it. Even though it is very difficult. I just try to learn the important words that are used in the arena from my coaches. But I still have a lot of work ahead of me.
⁃ You have visited many cities, which ones did you like the most?
⁃ To be honest, my favorite city we visited, in terms of hockey and generally the atmosphere, is Moscow. She will be my top! The games we played there were very atmospheric and the fans were quite noticeable. Also in the city you can find absolutely everything you need, from cultural places, restaurants, to entertainment. Another city that I liked is Kazan. A city with a long history. We were not able to see it in full, but as we drove from point A to point B, I noticed beautiful places that I would like to visit. A beautiful city!
⁃ Everyone has bad matches. How do you deal with negative emotions?
⁃ This is an integral process. As you know, it’s impossible to complete every game flawlessly. When you have had a bad match, you have to learn something. You just have to accept it, consciously, digest it, use it as fuel and prepare for the next game. Leave it in “short memory”.
⁃ What occupies your thoughts before the match and during the game?
⁃ I’m not very superstitious in this regard. I just try to always stay calm on the bench, of course, it doesn’t always work, – smiles, – I try to change focus immediately after the shift to be ready for the next one, no matter what the previous one was.But with regards to pre-match traditions, nothing like that, the usual preparatory work.
⁃ What exercises do you do most often off the ice? Crossfit, weights, or more stamina and heart work?
⁃ During the season, we work a lot with coaches who develop our strength. Our routine includes work with weights, cardio. During my summer vacation, I have my own coach, with whom I have been working for 10 years. I do a wide variety of exercises as well as cardio, weights, whatever exercise I can do to be ready for the season.
⁃ You are now in your home country. What do you usually do?
⁃ I returned to Canada, quarantined for two weeks. In my free time, I meet with family and friends, visit my favorite places, and enjoy the time before I start preparing for the season.
⁃ The number is very symbolic for almost every player. How did the story of your number begin?
⁃ I’ve played number 17, starting with Cobourg Cougars, for the last 6-7 years. My number is an inspiration from Wendell Clarke. He played power hockey, was hardworking, in all plans he was a player whom I wanted to be equal to, his style is close to me. This is the whole reason for the choice.
⁃ What is the main reason you started playing hockey? Who, or what, was the inspiration?
⁃ I started playing hockey when I was very young, and my parents were my inspirations. It was they who brought me to the ice, worked with me from an early age. And I fell in love with the game and never gave up this sport anymore.
⁃ You started your professional career at Cobourg Cougars, tell us a little about this time.
⁃ I started my career at Cobourg Cougars, this is the Junior League. The team was based near my hometown, it was a great experience, I found friends there, there were great fans, coaches who helped me a lot, helped me grow up in terms of hockey. So, yes, it was a great time.
⁃ What do you like most about your position as a center forward?
⁃ To be honest, this is a rather difficult position in terms of the game.I can say that I have learned a lot during my professional career, every element responds to the time frame of my game. You always have to be focused, play both ways, get the puck as fast as you need to. The result of the team depends on you.
⁃ What human qualities help to be a good player?
⁃ This is a very good question. I think that, firstly, you must be a team player, that is, not be selfish, you must know that your comrades are in order, be ready to help. Be a good friend. Be a player who knows how to listen and take advice, and most importantly, learn from these tips. You have to be trainable and be a real part of the team, I highlight these qualities.
⁃ Let’s step back from hockey a little. What genres of music do you like?
⁃ To be honest, I listen to everything: country, rap, alternative music, I don’t choose one thing.
⁃ Have you been to concerts?
⁃ Yes, I’ve been to concerts, from country to jazz.
⁃ Earlier, you mentioned that you love referring to Netflix when traveling and flying. What TV shows or films do you prefer?
⁃ If I watch TV shows, then my number one will be such a genre as drama, for example, “True Detective”, “Ozark”, quite a lot of good TV shows are filmed in this vein. This helps pass the time on long flights.
⁃ Where would you like to visit?
⁃ I’ve never been to Spain. I know a lot of interesting facts about this country, places. So, in the next couple of years, I want to do this.
⁃ If you could choose one car, which one would you choose?
⁃ I would probably take a Lamborghini SUV.
⁃ Obviously you are good at hockey. What are you bad at?
⁃ From playing sports, I would say tennis. I often had training sessions with this particular sport. Played with one Swedish guy. But it didn’t work out very well, – laughs.
⁃ What is the philosophy of your game?
⁃ Trust the process, always be the player who works hard.I think these two qualities can take players to the next level. If you control how much you work, your thoughts, then you can always control what you invest and what you give.
⁃ Why do you think it is necessary to learn something new? How do you keep doing this?
⁃ I think you should keep learning, because everything changes, the game changes, and so does you. You have to learn from other people, everyone does wonderful things. Someone does some things better than me, right? I try to understand how this or that thing works, seeing it live or on the screen, and go to practice.
⁃
⁃ I know that apart from hockey you like lacrosse, is there any other sport?
⁃ Besides that, I like golf. In the summer, I devote a lot of time to him.
⁃ Tell us a little about your hometown, Oshawa.
⁃ Oshawa is a wonderful city where I grew up and lived my whole life. Each place responds with something, means something. And I love to spend time here when I come back in the summer.
⁃ What is your warmest childhood memory?
⁃ My favorite childhood memory is how my parents, brother and I made a skating rink in the backyard. We always had some pretty intense battles with our brother as we grew up. I think from this I learned how to be a competitive player. And I have to thank my brother for that.
⁃ Is there something you are proud of?
⁃ The fact that I overcome all obstacles cannot be said to be an easy path. I can’t just hang my head, I keep going forward and working. I am proud of where I am now and where I came from.
⁃ What is your goal for the next season?
⁃ Continue to work on my professionalism, to be sure that I am a good “teammate”, that I give my best 100% both on and off the ice.
⁃ Do you think it is necessary to bring something to the preseason camp?
⁃ We had a wonderful pre-season camp. I wouldn’t even change anything.
⁃ What course should Vityaz take before the new season?
⁃ Vityaz has an excellent organization, good players. We need to preserve all this and fight for a higher place. Show your maximum.

90,000 About NHL records that will break if the season is canceled – Real time
Achievements that will be interrupted if the season overseas is not completed
The coronavirus epidemic in the United States gained terrifying momentum and brought the country to a confident first place in the number of cases and deaths. American President Donald Trump recently announced that he was tired of revisiting ancient baseball games and already wants to see the real sport of today. So far, the forecasts are disappointing, and everything goes to the fact that the hockey season overseas is unlikely to be played out. However, the National Hockey League is not discouraged and has prepared 20 possible scenarios for the development of events at once. Still, because the unfinished season promised a bunch of achievements, to which dozens of players, teams and coaches went. About the most curious NHL records, put on pause at the moment, in the material of Realnoe Vremya.
Ovechkin will not score another 50 goals and will share the Maurice Richard Trophy with Pastrnyak
The highest demand from talented hockey players in the NHL is always the case. Therefore, the fact that striker Alexander Ovechkin may have less than 50 points in the “scored goals” column will seem strange to our descendants years later. The coronavirus, hopefully, will not affect them and will be forgotten, but the numbers will remain.
Over the past 7 seasons, Ovi only once did not reach 50 goals in the entire season (regular season plus playoffs). The 2019/2020 season ended when the Russian scored 48 goals in 68 games. Moreover, just before the break, in March, he scored five goals in five meetings – made doubles against the Rangers and Minnesota, and also scored a beautiful goal against Buffalo. This allowed Alexander to catch up with Czech David Pastrnyak from Boston in the list of snipers of the season, who also has 48 goals, but two more matches played.
If the final game of the regular season does not really follow, and the presentation of individual awards at the end of the season takes place, Ovechkin will become the owner of the Maurice Richard Trophy for the ninth time (a prize awarded annually to the best sniper of the regular season), but he will have to share this statuette with his colleague from Bruins. But the ninth career figure of 50 goals per season will have to be postponed until next year, and talk about the pursuit of Wayne Gretzky’s record may become less relevant, since no one knows how and when the season will be resumed. And Ovi’s chances of catching up with the Great in the event of the cancellation of the remaining games will be slightly diminished, since the Russian will be 35 years old in September, and now every meeting counts.
Recall that this season Ovechkin scored his 700th goal in the NHL and came in eighth among all snipers in the history of the league. In total, the forward scored 1270 (700 + 570) points in 1,144 matches. Gretzky is the best scorer in league history with 894 goals.

Alexander himself resumed training in March:
– During the first week of quarantine, I rested, but then I got bored. I work with a coach who helps me with individual training before the playoffs every year. It’s great that he managed to fly from Russia. As for my record, then, of course, I would like to score those 50 goals, but, to be honest, now I’m not thinking about that anymore, but about safety and when it will all end. I’m tired of watching Deal or no Deal ( – ed. ) and listening to old Eminem albums. Bring back the hockey, Ovechkin said during a video conference with other NHL players, answering questions from fans.
Svechnikov will not knock out the first hundred points in the NHL
Many now call 19-year-old Carolina striker Andrey Svechnikov one of Ovechkin’s successors as the main Russian star of the NHL.The pupil of Kazan “Ak Bars” has already played 150 matches in the NHL.
The master of spectacular lacrosse goals so far has settled on 98 (44 + 54) points in two years, and it is clear that he would have scored the two hundred points missing in the remaining 14 games for Carolina. In this team, it is customary to celebrate various achievements in a special way, and Svechnikov himself would probably arrange a performance at the level of another lacrosse goal.
– I’m still the same ordinary Russian guy. Yes, I left for North America at the age of 16.My brother was already here, so the move was easier. Zhenya lived 25 minutes from me. We saw each other every day. I don’t think I have changed in any way in these four years. Remained Russian one hundred percent.

Now it is very unpleasant to see such a development of events with the pandemic. I would like, of course, that we continue to play hockey and people would come to the stands. But not everything depends on us. Very sorry. I want to play, but now the coronavirus has appeared. What can you do here? We need to survive this, – said Svechnikov on the air of Match TV.
Panarin will not catch up with Jagr
Artemy Panarin had a chance to renew the club record of the New York Rangers, which belongs to the magnificent Jaromir Jagr – 54 goals and 123 points in the regular season. At the moment, Khlebushka has 95 scoring points, and in the 13 remaining matches he needed to score 28 points to become the highest scoring ranger in history. The task is extremely difficult, but doable.
Panarin was the first Russian to break the 90-point mark, ranked third in the NHL’s top scorers list, and, according to many North American observers, has every chance of winning the Hart Trophy, the MVP of the season. True, for this, the New Yorkers needed to get into the playoffs, which can now take place in a different format. How to assess the previous exploits of hockey players in this situation is not at all clear.
Artemy will not reach the mark of 400 career matches – now he has 9 fewer games.Perhaps it does not really matter, but for overcoming this bar, the hockey union will significantly increase the future pension after the end of active performances. Not such a useless bonus these days.

– I didn’t fly to Russia because there was uncertainty. If this continues, I think I’ll fly to St. Petersburg. Is there any karaoke open in St. Petersburg?
But if the season is canceled, then I will return to Russia and will be in quarantine in the apartment, it is still closed. The apartment is probably more complicated than the house, – said Panarin the other day in an online broadcast on Instagram by Alexander Kerzhakov.
In the same place, he said that he would return to his homeland if the Rangers cut more than 40% of the salary. But later he “turned on the back”, informing the management of the club that it was a joke.
German Dreiseitl will never go down in history
Edmonton striker Leon Dreiseitl may become the first ever German hockey player to win the Most Scoring Player of the Season prize. At the stoppage of the championship, Dreiseitl has 110 points – 13 more than his teammate Connor McDavid, who remains his closest pursuer throughout the season. The question is whether prizes will be awarded based on the results of the underplayed season and what status they will have.
In any case, the success of Dreiseitl is worth noting, since in the last 9 seasons Art Ross (the best scorer of the NHL season) has been won only by Canadians, Russians and American Patrick Kane from Chicago.

Last week, The Athletic, an authoritative North American web site, voted North American journalists to select the best players in the NHL regular season. About 40% of the respondents voted for Dreisatl in the Best Player nomination, 32% for McKinnon, 17% for Panarin.
So what will happen to the NHL season?
League commissioner Gary Battman recently revealed when the overseas hockey season could resume. Recall that the regular season was suspended on March 12 for an indefinite period.
– At the moment it seems to me that we will play in the summer, which we are definitely capable of. Whatever we do to restart the season, be it a full-fledged championship or an extended playoff, we need to make a fair and honest decision. We consider all alternatives, nothing will be ruled out. Believe us, we keep our finger on the pulse every day.
The renewal of the season will be extremely important for business, but the key is the medical factor. We will need to check all the players as much as possible, because they will return to North America from all over the world. Security will be maximum, – quotes the words of the Fox Business Network Battman.
Note that of the main options for the development of events, the following three are the most discussed: the final game in the summer as usual, the final game in the summer without spectators in one of the North American states, where 18 or 24 participants of the regular season will be taken, as well as the complete cancellation of the season.

Sedan Toyota Avalon moved to a new platform – DRIVE
In the United States, the segment of full-size sedans of mass brands is going through hard times. In 2017, sales fell by 11.5%, and for the first time since 1985, demand was below 400 thousand cars – 392 129 units. In the top ten, led by Dodge Charger (88 351), Chevrolet Impala (75 877) and Nissan Maxima (67 627), most models fell. The Toyota Avalon is especially bad, sales of which fell 32% to 32,583 cars. For comparison, over the past year in Russia, with its difficult market situation, it was possible to sell 28,199 Camry sedans. And the new Avalon, which made its debut in Detroit, will establish business in the United States.
Four exhaust pipes, two-tone wheels with 235/40 R19 tires, black side mirror housings and a spoiler on the trunk lid – equipment of the XSE and Touring modifications.LED optics are available in any version, but for cars in expensive versions there are turning headlights and dynamic direction indicators.
It seems that only the name makes the novelty in common with its predecessor. Avalon 2019 model year all external panels are original. The sedan looks more interesting, bolder than the previous car thanks to the narrowed front optics, a complex-shaped radiator grill, beautiful stampings on the sidewalls and bumpers, as if taken from a sports car. At the same time, the body length increased from 4960 to 4978 mm, and the wheelbase – from 2820 to 2870 mm.In nose-to-tail distance, this Toyota surpasses most European business sedans, although in terms of base size the Avalon looks more like an overgrown D + class.
Multimedia system – with a nine-inch display, navigation, Apple CarPlay support, Internet access point, voice assistant Alexa (developed by Amazon) and integration with smart watches. Ten-inch head-up display and surround cameras are options.
The color of the leather upholstery of the seats and the front panel can be not only black, beige and gray, but also cognac. On sport versions, leather and faux suede trim is available. For a surcharge – JBL audio system with eight or 14 speakers (power – 1200 W).
The interior turned out to be very original, which in the rich versions is decorated with inserts made of natural wood or metal. First of all, thanks to the smoothly falling center console, reminiscent of a ski jump, under which they made a roomy niche for a smartphone. Rear passengers are promised a record in the class of free space in all directions.Plus, during the development, they paid more attention to the silence in the cabin – improved noise-insulating mats appeared under the hood, on the floor and in the wheel arches, additionally reduced the noise at the junction of the front fenders and doors.
The hood is made of aluminum, and thanks to a more streamlined body and a flatter bottom, the drag coefficient has decreased from 0.28 to 0.27. The Auto Glide Control system also works for the best economy, preventing excessive engine braking when coasting.
The most important change during the change of generations is the use of a modular front-wheel drive TNGA platform with McPherson struts at the front, multi-link at the rear and a low center of gravity. The latest generation Camry is based on the same “cart”, which shared two power units with Avalon – a petrol V6 3.5 with a combined injection system and an eight-speed “automatic”, as well as a hybrid, consisting of a “four” 2.5, two electric motors and a variator. The exact specifications will be announced later.
The XLE, Limited and XSE versions have three modes to choose from (Eco, Normal, Sport / Sport +), while the Touring version has four (optional Custom). The sedan can also be equipped with adaptive suspension, engine sound enhancement systems and noise cancellation in the cabin.
Toyota Avalon is an American car. It was created by Calty Design Research Inc. and the TMNA R&D Center (both located in Michigan). And the production, as before, will be carried out by the Toyota plant in Kentucky. Dealers in the United States will begin accepting orders in late spring 2018, and the first cars ordered by customers will reach showrooms in the summer. The list of basic equipment includes ten airbags, a stabilization system, a rearview camera and a Toyota Safety Sense P complex, which includes automatic braking systems with pedestrian recognition, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping, and radar cruise control.
History
Toyota Avalon is an attempt by the Japanese to gain a foothold in the North American class of affordable full-size sedans. And the approach was serious: the model was developed for four years, taking into account the tastes of the Yankees. It premiered in February 1994 at the Chicago Motor Show. And already in September, the plant in Kentucky began production of a six-seater four-door with a length of 4831 mm (base – 2720 mm). The car was built on an elongated Camry XV10 series platform with McPherson struts in the front and a multi-link in the rear. The power unit was one – V6 3.0 mated to a four-speed “automatic”. In addition to the United States, the Avalon was also sold in Japan and Australia. The demand for the novelty in the States was decent – 362 thousand pieces until 1999.
Restyling happened quickly, in 1997. The Japanese retouched the front and rear, raised the engine output to 204 horsepower and 290 Newton meters and expanded the basic configuration, adding an anti-lock braking system and two side airbags.
In the fall of 1999, the second generation Avalon was launched in Georgetown. The car has radically changed in appearance and became longer, higher and wider. The exterior was still not Avalon’s hobbyhorse, but the interior could definitely be considered a plus. Solid, with beautiful architecture and status equipment. Customers relied on four airbags, a stabilization system, dual-zone climate control, electric front seats, optitronic dashboard, navigation, JBL audio system. It was possible to close our eyes to the fact that the platform and gearbox remained the same, and the old V6 engine 3.0 slightly raised the recoil (up to 214 HP and 298 N • m).
Updated Avalons appeared in 2002, and they differed in redesigned optics, radiator grille and dashboard. In total, from 2000 to 2004, a little more than 343,000 cars were sold in the United States.
In 2005, a completely new Avalon appeared in dealer showrooms. It was based on the K platform (McPherson and multi-link), on which the Toyota Highlander, Camry, Sienna and Lexus ES models were based. The full-size sedan stepped over the five-meter mark at once, and the wheelbase added as much as 100 mm (up to 2820 mm). The three-liter engine was taken out of circulation, and its place was taken by a V6 3.5 with phase shifters at the inlet and outlet and a return of 272 hp. and 336 newton meters. The sedan, which took less than seven seconds to accelerate to 97 km / h, was equipped with automatic transmissions with five (first two years) and six gears.
The
Avalon was equipped with seven airbags, leather interior, electrically adjustable front seats, heated and ventilated, navigation, keyless entry, rear view camera, rain sensor, xenon headlights and adaptive cruise control. The audio system in the top version is JBL with twelve speakers.
Micro-updates, mainly related to equipment, began in 2007 and continued in 2008 and 2009. A year later, the Japanese carried out a full modernization. The grille, headlights, bumpers, side mirrors with built-in turn signals, lights with diode strips have undergone retouching. Unfortunately, the monumental interior, with a common visor for the dashboard and center display, fell prey to designers who opted for trivial architecture.Production in Kentucky continued until October 2012, but demand was crippled by the 2008 economic crisis. The circulation was a modest 413 thousand cars.
After restyling, the number of offered complete sets was reduced from four to two. Also, Avalon was assigned a retuned suspension and improved trim and multimedia system.
The fourth-generation
Avalon, which debuted at the April 2012 New York Motor Show, retained the same K-Cart and naturally aspirated V6 3.5. But instead of a big, shapeless fish, buyers got a more refined car with a liftback silhouette. With the same wheelbase (2820 mm), the body length was reduced to 4960 mm. The width also decreased with the height. Inside, a beautiful front panel has reappeared with a claim to originality and such memorable details as the metal rounds of the audio system controls. Also, customers were offered an Avalon Hybrid with a 203-horsepower power plant.
Kevin Hunter, head of the California studio of Toyota Calty, worked on the appearance of Avalon.Compared to its predecessor, the calibrations of the springs, shock absorbers and steering have changed, and the torsional stiffness of the body has increased by 23%.
In 2015, an updated sedan was shown at the Chicago Auto Show. The designers made the front more aggressive with a new bumper with a different air intake, plus redesigned the front optics and the appearance of the wheels with a diameter of 17 and 18 inches. A whole army of electronic assistants also came up: automatic braking systems with the function of recognizing pedestrians, monitoring blind spots, keeping the car in the lane, and active cruise control.
Several audio systems were offered to choose from – from basic with eight speakers to advanced JBL with eleven.
When ordering the Avalon, you could choose one of two types of suspension – comfortable or sporty. The model also received a new Entune multimedia system with a seven-inch touchscreen display, navigation, Bluetooth protocol support and USB-connectors.
