What are the different types of sports protective eyewear. How to choose the right size for lacrosse goggles. Why is proper fit crucial for sports eyewear performance. How do low-bridge fit styles enhance comfort for certain face shapes.
Types of Sports Protective Eyewear for Lacrosse
When it comes to protecting your vision during lacrosse, there are several types of sports eyewear to choose from. Each offers robust protection, with the main differences coming down to personal preference and comfort.
Frames
These resemble traditional eyeglasses but come with a secure strap. They’re ideal for players who prefer a familiar eyewear style and fit. The frame design allows for easy adjustment and a more customized feel on the face.
Goggles
Featuring a strap that goes above the ears and around the head, goggles are often the go-to choice for athletes wearing full-faced helmets. This design is particularly popular in sports like ice hockey, men’s lacrosse, and for baseball/softball catchers. The wraparound strap ensures a snug fit even during intense physical activity.
Interchangeable Systems
These versatile products can convert between frames and goggles. They’re perfect for multi-sport athletes who want the flexibility to switch between styles without purchasing separate pieces of equipment. This adaptability makes them a cost-effective choice for players involved in various sports throughout the year.
Sizing Guide for Lacrosse Eyewear
Proper sizing is crucial for both comfort and protection in lacrosse eyewear. Most brands categorize their frame sizes into three main groups: small, medium, and large/XL. The key measurement to consider is the lens diameter or eye size, which is the width across the widest part of a lens.
- Small: 48-51mm
- Medium: 52-53mm
- Large/XL: 55mm and above
To find your ideal size, start by checking the measurements of your current eyewear. These are typically found on the inside of the temple arms. For sports eyewear, it’s recommended to add 2-3mm to your current frame’s lens diameter to account for the increased curvature in protective gear.
Understanding Frame Measurements for Optimal Fit
When shopping for lacrosse eyewear online, it’s essential to understand the various measurements that contribute to a proper fit. Frame size is composed of several elements, all measured in millimeters:
- A: Lens Width (Eye-Size) – The horizontal measurement of one lens
- B: Lens Height – The vertical measurement of one lens
- DBL: Distance Between Lenses (Bridge Size) – The space between the lenses
- TL: Temple Length – The length of the sides/arms of the glasses
These measurements are typically displayed in a format like [A:49 B:32.5 DBL:17 TL:135]. Familiarizing yourself with these numbers can greatly assist in selecting the right pair of lacrosse eyewear online.
The Importance of Bridge Fit in Sports Eyewear
One often overlooked aspect of sports eyewear fit is the bridge – the part that rests on your nose. Ill-fitting bridges can lead to discomfort, with glasses sitting too close to your face or resting on your cheekbones. This can result in issues like “lash-clash,” where your eyelashes hit the lenses.
For athletes experiencing these problems, low-bridge fit styles may be the solution. These designs feature a deeper and narrower nosepad than standard fit options, helping to keep the frames off your cheekbones and properly positioned on your nose. This adjustment can significantly enhance comfort and performance during play.
Lens Technology in Lacrosse Eyewear
Advanced lens technology plays a crucial role in enhancing vision and protection for lacrosse players. Many high-quality sports eyewear options incorporate features such as:
- Impact-resistant polycarbonate lenses
- Anti-fog coatings to maintain clear vision in varying conditions
- UV protection to shield eyes from harmful sun rays
- Polarized options to reduce glare, especially useful for outdoor play
- Tinted lenses to enhance contrast and visual acuity in different lighting situations
These technological advancements ensure that players not only protect their eyes but also optimize their visual performance on the field.
Prescription Options for Lacrosse Players
For lacrosse players who require vision correction, prescription sports eyewear is an excellent solution. Many manufacturers offer the ability to incorporate prescription lenses into their protective frames or goggles. This integration allows players to enjoy clear vision without compromising on safety.
Prescription options typically include:
- Single vision lenses for distance or near correction
- Bifocal or progressive lenses for players needing multiple focal points
- High-index lenses for stronger prescriptions, maintaining a sleek profile
- Adaptive lenses that darken in sunlight for versatility in indoor and outdoor play
When ordering prescription lacrosse eyewear, it’s important to provide a current prescription and consult with an eyecare professional to ensure the best possible visual outcome.
Maintenance and Care for Lacrosse Eyewear
Proper care and maintenance of your lacrosse eyewear can significantly extend its lifespan and ensure consistent performance. Here are some essential tips:
- Clean lenses regularly with a microfiber cloth and lens cleaning solution
- Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage protective coatings
- Store eyewear in a protective case when not in use
- Inspect frames and lenses periodically for signs of wear or damage
- Replace cushioning and straps as needed to maintain a secure fit
- Follow manufacturer guidelines for any specific care instructions
By incorporating these practices into your routine, you can ensure that your lacrosse eyewear remains in top condition, providing optimal protection and visual clarity throughout the season.
The Role of Eyewear in Lacrosse Safety Regulations
Sports protective eyewear plays a significant role in lacrosse safety regulations. Many leagues and organizations have specific requirements for the type and quality of eyewear that players must use during practice and competition. These regulations are designed to minimize the risk of eye injuries, which can be particularly severe in high-impact sports like lacrosse.
Key aspects of lacrosse eyewear safety standards often include:
- Impact resistance testing to ensure lenses can withstand high-velocity impacts
- Frame durability standards to prevent breakage during play
- Secure fit requirements to keep eyewear in place during intense movement
- Peripheral vision standards to maintain a wide field of view
- Compliance with general sports safety certifications such as ASTM F803
When purchasing lacrosse eyewear, it’s crucial to verify that the product meets or exceeds the safety standards set by relevant governing bodies. This ensures that you’re not only complying with league rules but also providing the best possible protection for your eyes during play.
Customization Options for Team and Individual Expression
While safety and functionality are paramount, many lacrosse players also appreciate the ability to customize their eyewear to express team spirit or personal style. Many manufacturers offer a range of customization options that allow players to personalize their protective gear without compromising its primary purpose.
Popular customization features include:
- Team color combinations for frames and straps
- Custom engraving of player numbers or initials
- Interchangeable components to mix and match colors
- Limited edition designs or collaborations with professional players
- Tinted lenses in various colors to enhance visual contrast or simply for style
These customization options not only allow players to showcase their personality but can also contribute to team cohesion and identity on the field. However, it’s important to ensure that any customizations do not interfere with the protective qualities or fit of the eyewear.
Transitioning from Regular Glasses to Sports Eyewear
For lacrosse players who typically wear prescription glasses, making the switch to sports-specific eyewear can be a game-changer. The transition process involves several considerations to ensure both visual acuity and proper protection on the field.
Key steps in transitioning to sports eyewear include:
- Consulting with an eye care professional to obtain an up-to-date prescription
- Exploring sports-specific frame options that accommodate prescription lenses
- Considering the benefits of contact lenses paired with non-prescription protective eyewear
- Testing different styles to find the most comfortable and secure fit for your face shape
- Gradually increasing wear time to acclimate to the new eyewear during practice sessions
Many players find that once they’ve made the switch to proper sports eyewear, they experience improved visual performance and confidence on the field. The enhanced protection and secure fit allow for full focus on the game without concerns about eyewear slipping or potential eye injuries.
Innovations in Lacrosse Eyewear Technology
The field of sports protective eyewear is constantly evolving, with new technologies and materials being developed to enhance both protection and performance. Recent innovations in lacrosse eyewear include:
- Smart lens technology that adapts to changing light conditions
- Ultra-lightweight materials that provide maximum protection with minimal weight
- Enhanced ventilation systems to reduce fogging and improve comfort
- Impact-absorption technologies that distribute force more evenly
- Integrated heads-up display (HUD) systems for real-time performance data
These advancements are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in sports eyewear, offering lacrosse players unprecedented levels of protection, comfort, and performance enhancement. As technology continues to progress, we can expect even more innovative features to be incorporated into future generations of lacrosse eyewear.
The Impact of Proper Eyewear on Performance
While the primary purpose of lacrosse eyewear is protection, its impact on player performance should not be underestimated. Properly fitted and designed sports eyewear can significantly enhance a player’s ability to perform at their best on the field.
Performance benefits of quality lacrosse eyewear include:
- Improved visual acuity and depth perception
- Enhanced peripheral vision for better situational awareness
- Reduced eye fatigue during long practices or games
- Increased confidence in physical play due to reliable eye protection
- Better focus and concentration without the distraction of ill-fitting glasses
By investing in high-quality, well-fitted lacrosse eyewear, players can not only protect their vision but also potentially elevate their game. Coaches and players alike should recognize the role that proper eyewear plays in overall athletic performance and make informed choices when selecting protective gear.
Addressing Common Concerns About Sports Eyewear
Despite the clear benefits of sports protective eyewear, some lacrosse players may have reservations about wearing it. Addressing these common concerns can help athletes make informed decisions about their eye protection:
Will sports eyewear affect my peripheral vision?
Modern sports eyewear is designed to maximize peripheral vision. Many styles offer a wider field of view than regular glasses, enhancing rather than hindering situational awareness on the field.
Is sports eyewear comfortable for extended wear?
With proper fitting and contemporary designs, sports eyewear can be very comfortable, even during long practices or games. Many players forget they’re wearing protective eyewear once they become accustomed to it.
Can I wear contact lenses with sports goggles?
Yes, many athletes successfully combine contact lenses with non-prescription sports goggles. This combination often provides excellent vision correction and protection.
Will sports eyewear fog up during intense play?
While fogging can occur, many modern sports eyewear options feature anti-fog coatings and ventilation systems to minimize this issue. Proper fit and maintenance also help prevent fogging.
Is sports eyewear worth the investment?
Given the potential cost of eye injuries and the performance benefits of proper eyewear, most players and parents find that quality sports eyewear is a worthwhile investment in both safety and athletic performance.
By addressing these concerns and emphasizing the benefits of proper eye protection, more lacrosse players can be encouraged to adopt and consistently use appropriate sports eyewear, contributing to a safer and more enjoyable playing experience for all.

Prescription Lacrosse Goggles and Glasses
Lacrosse is currently ranked as the country’s fastest growing team sport, with over 720,000 players. Over the last ten years, there’s been a 41% growth in the number of players participating in this highly physical contact sport. However, lacrosse is also known for its high rate of injury, ranking second in sports with the most head injuries. When you think of injuries during sports, you are likely to be the most concerned about broken bones, pulled muscles, and concussions.
However, eye injuries are some of the most common sports abrasions that are treated by healthcare professionals every year. One of the reasons why there are so many injuries in lacrosse is because the game relies on the use of excessively long sticks (known as a crosse). NCAA regulations require all men’s sticks to be 40 to 41 inches in length for offense and 52 to 72 inches in length for defense. It only takes a quick swipe in the wrong direction to place a stick directly in a player’s eye. Players can help prevent stick-related and other types of eye injuries by wearing a pair of shatter-proof goggles.
Protective eye wear should be worn if there’s any chance of being struck in the eye by any entity moving rapidly, or if you’re in an environment with significant wind, dirt, or UV radiation. Approximately 100,000 sports-related eye injuries happen every year with a cumulative cost of more than $175 million dollars. Lacrosse is considered to be among one of the “extreme” sports that athletes are prone to get the most hurt in. The use of protective eye wear will prevent the occasional and catastrophic eye injury at every level of play.
Eye injuries are the leading cause of blindness in children in the United States. Ninety percent of these sports-related eye traumas can be prevented with the use of protective eye wear. Ordinary prescription glasses, contact lenses, and sunglasses do not protect against eye injuries. Protective goggles, which are made of strong poly-carbonate or high impact nylon, are many times stronger than other plastics, form one of the most vital sports equipment for people of all ages participating in lacrosse.

Lacrosse Goggle Buying Guide
Lacrosse is a strenuous sport that is fast paced and scores more physical in terms of contact than American football. The potential for damage to the eyes and face is tremendous, thanks to the addition of Lacrosse sticks being waved about. Each piece of protective gear is vital for the protection and well being of the players and the only way to ensure that the eye and upper face areas are kept from severe injury is to use the right type of goggles that are designed specifically for use in Lacrosse play. There are quite a few different brands, types and designs available, so finding what would be considered to be the best for you can become a difficult assignment, unless you know precisely what it is that you are looking for. This guide is designed to provide you with the information along with tips and recommendations that will help you to make the most suitable choices when shopping for Lacrosse goggles.
The Purpose of Wearing Of Lacrosse Goggles
Protecting your vision while making sure that you can see well enough to play the game is what is required when selecting a pair of Lacrosse goggles. The goggles that you choose should be lightweight and comfortable to wear while covering an adequate area. This includes coverage of the cheekbones and the eyebrows while leaving the nose untouched. There is a good reason for this. If the goggles become checked, it is all too easy for the goggles to move and fully impact your nose, potentially causing severe damage. They should fit snugly at the brow bone and the cheek bones, but not so tightly that they are uncomfortable to wear.
Materials Used In Making Lacrosse Goggles
Most goggles are constructed with hard plastic or wire that is unbreakable for the frame. The lenses are generally made with scratch resistant plastic. Some lenses feature an anti fog coating and are the most highly recommended to prevent occlusion of the vision while in play, particularly in humid or cold weather conditions. Some of the plastic goggle lenses that are not treated with the anti fog coating can fog up in rainy weather. The wire goggles provide for more efficient performance during rainy weather because there is no lens to catch the rain and cause streaking and obscured vision.
Goggle Padding
The padding that is used in Lacrosse goggles should be made from an anti microbial material that can be either silicone based or foam because it is used along the inner side of the goggles that come into direct contact with the skin of your face. The addition of this cushion provides for additional comfort and a more secure fit. The padding should be constructed of a semi rigid material that will provide added protection from impacts, but porous enough to be molded into the shape of the face so it will provide a firm fit against the skin. It should be lightweight to enhance the comfort and to help minimize the potential of slipping when playing the game.
For those who have sensitive skin, silicone padding is the best alternative as it is resistant to the absorption of sweat or other kinds of moisture. It is also one of the easiest materials to clean for reasons of sanitation.
Gel padding is another material that is easy to clean and provides a comfortable fit that easily molds to the shape of the face.
Specifications for the Band
Ideally, the band that is used to secure the goggles will be flexible so it can further help to prevent any impacts from sticks or the hard rubber balls which are used in play. The bands which strap around the head, are designed to hold the goggles in place firmly so they do not slip around, which could make the eyes more prone to injury.
Certification for Lacrosse Goggles
Goggles used for Lacrosse should meet the minimum safety requirements for eye safety. Look for the seal of approval that is issued by ASTM F803-03 which is a testing specification standard. This means that the goggles are tested to withstand the force of a ball which is traveling between 45 and 60 miles per hour.
Goggle Design
There are a few different goggle designs which each offer different benefits. The oval wire design provides enhanced vision capacity and resistance to impacts. The low profile design is intended to provide very little obstruction which allows for a wider field of view for greater peripheral vision.
When enhancement of the downward vision is desired, as for use by midfielders, look for a lightweight wire construction with a flexible frame which comfortably molds to your head. This can provide for more of a custom fit, additional comfort and a flat bar wire that adds strength and a decrease in visual interference.
Additional Lacrosse Goggle Features
Some models of goggles feature a swivel clip along with a flexible frame that is designed to fit the shape of any face with great comfort. They feature soft padding that grips to hold the goggles in place and prevent slippage while handling nearly any type of impact. The split strap feature can add to security and comfort in fit for some players who wear it over the ears.
Players who wear eyeglasses should choose goggles that are designed to fit over the glasses. Bear in mind when shopping that not all goggles are constructed with this design and some will not accommodate the use of additional eye glasses.
Conclusion
Now that you have an idea of what you need to look for in Lacrosse goggles, you are equipped with the information to make the best choices to meet your needs. So long as you make sure that your choice provides the features that provide for adequate protection from injury, a good field of vision and the additional features that will provide for the greatest comfort, you are ready to begin shopping. By following the tips and suggestions provided in this guide, you won’t have to wonder which goggles will work the best for your particular situation.

Eyeglasses that enhance sports performance
By Gary Heiting, OD, and Donald S. Teig, OD
Sports glasses are eyeglasses specially designed to:
Fit securely and comfortably during physical activity
Keep your eyes safe
Enhance your vision to give you an extra performance “edge” in the sports you love.
In most sports, vision drives performance. So, to excel during competition, you should make sure your eyesight is in top shape.
Even if you have 20/20 vision, the right sports eyewear can reduce glare and enhance contrast to help you see even better and react faster.
Sports glasses boost performance
Sports vision specialists agree that sports eyewear can have a profound effect on athletic performance. And coaches agree. For this reason, many professional sports team have an eye doctor on staff who is a sports vision specialist.

Sports glasses, goggles and eye protection
Experts agree that most sports-related eye injuries can be prevented if athletes wear protective eyewear, such as safety goggles with polycarbonate lenses.
Ski goggles should be considered a must on the slopes to reduce glare and protect your eyes from intense UV rays, and face shields (either “cages” or clear polycarbonate shields) should always be worn by catchers in baseball and anyone playing hockey or other sports with fast-moving objects that could strike your eyes.
Although children may resist the idea of wearing safety glasses during sports, parents and coaches should insist on it. It takes only a second for a sports injury to cause permanent vision loss in an unprotected eye.
And eye safety during sports is not just for kids — virtually anyone who plays active sports should wear sports glasses for eye protection and vision enhancement.
Also, never wear everyday “dress” eyeglasses during sports. Regular eyeglasses are not made to the same protective standards as safety eyewear. The lenses may shatter under impact and cause a serious eye injury.
Likewise, eyeglass frames that don’t qualify for use in sports or safety glasses can break upon impact or cause the lenses to come loose and damage your eyes or face.
Another danger during outdoor sports is overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. UV rays have been linked to eye diseases such as cataracts and ocular tumors.
Overexposure to UV radiation also can cause a painful sunburn on the surface of your eyes (called photokeratitis) that can lead to long-term damage to the cornea.
Snowboarders and skiers should always wear tinted goggles or sports sunglasses, since UV rays bounce off snow even on cloudy days. Boaters and sailors, too, need protection from UV rays that reflect off the water.
Sports sunglasses: Choosing the best tint
You can choose from an almost endless variety of lens tints for sports sunglasses. Selectively filtering glare and certain colors can cause objects of a particular color on a specific background color — like a ball against the sky — to appear with greater clarity and contrast.
Tinted lenses that enhance the color yellow are desirable particularly in tennis, where they heighten the color and contrast of the ball against the sky or stadium walls.
Retego sunglasses by adidas Eyewear are designed specifically for golf, with distortion-free lenses in a tint that helps the ball stand out from the background.
Different lens tints can enhance specific colors for golfers, skiers, trap-shooters and other sports enthusiasts.
For example, golf glasses with copper-colored lenses enhance the contrast of a white golf ball against the sky and the green background of fairways and greens.
Some professional baseball players wear amber-tinted baseball glasses or sports contact lenses to help filter out blue light and increase their ability to see a baseball more clearly against the sky.
Amber or rose-colored ski goggles enhance soft grays that mark shadows on a ski slope. Because these shadows indicate ridges or bumps in the surface, increasing the visibility of these slope changes is a big benefit for skiers and snowboarders.
Reducing glare and adjusting to changing conditions
Polarized sports sunglasses reduce glare so athletes can see more clearly and react faster in bright conditions. Anti-reflective (AR) coating is another glare reducer that should be applied to the back surface of sports sunglasses to eliminate sunlight reflecting off the back surface of the lenses when the sun is behind you.
Nike Hyperion III frames have two polycarbonate lens options, for sunny and flat light conditions.
Photochromic lenses help athletes see their best in a variety of lighting conditions. These lenses darken automatically in response to sunlight and the lens tint fades or disappears when in shade or after the sun sets.
The largest manufacturer of lightweight, impact-resistant photochromic lenses is Transitions Optical. Because of the popularity of this brand, photochromic lenses sometimes are called “transition lenses.” But several lens manufacturers offer photochromic lenses for sports glasses. Your eye doctor can advise you of the best type and color of photochromic lenses for your sports vision needs.
Photochromic lenses are terrific for golf, where you move frequently from bright sunlight to shade or dusk during the course of a round. For the ultimate light-control sports glasses, many eye care professionals recommend adding anti-reflective coating to photochromic lenses to eliminate glare from the “bounce-back” of light from the back surface of the lenses when the sun is behind you.
Personalized sports eyeglasses
Getting the best possible eyewear to maximize your sports performance starts with your eyeglass prescription. Schedule an eye exam with an eye doctor near you and discuss with your doctor which sports you enjoy.
Next, see a qualified optician for additional advice about the best frames and lenses for your sport and to see samples of different lens tints. Your optician’s help in frame selection is critical, because the proper fit of sports eyewear is very important for both safety and comfort.
When it comes to achieving your personal best in sports, remember that excellent vision is a key factor in athletic performance. Put sports eyewear at the top of your list when you shop for gear and accessories to enhance your game.

Example of a prescription for glasses
Some ingredients may be missing from your recipe.
In order to solve current vision problems, it is necessary to visit an ophthalmologist. Based on the studies carried out, the doctor will determine the cause of the decrease in vision power, and, if there are no other methods, he will write a prescription for glasses. The prescription contains data for an optician who will select frames and lenses for you. In principle, the ability to read the recipe is not required for you, but it is still desirable to understand what the records mean.

Voluntary ANSI Z80.3-2018 and ANSI Z80.31-2017 will protect our eyes
In order to educate all stakeholders about the vital role that standards play in everyday life, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has published information on its new initiatives in the field of standardization. These projects concern OTC ophthalmic optics and sunglasses.
ANSI Z80.3-2018 Sunglasses Standard
Sunglasses are the perfect status accessory.Your look will be much more interesting if you are wearing sunglasses – no matter what else you are wearing. This accessory is able to shield from the close attention of others and create an aura of self-confidence.
Even the Roman emperor Nero watched the battles of gladiators through polished gems. The widespread adoption of sunglasses among movie stars at the beginning of the last century made this accessory extremely fashionable. Their popularity increased after the mass production of sunglasses began in 1929.
The sunglasses also serve a practical purpose. Their tinted lenses resist strong sunlight and ultraviolet (UV) light that can harm a person’s eyes. In fact, this is the original function of any sunglasses. After all, even in prehistoric times, the Inuit people (an ethnic group of indigenous peoples of North America) wore flattened glasses with walrus bone arches to block harmful sunlight.
Any sunglasses purchaser must be confident in their quality and ability to provide a certain level of light reflectance and resist expected wear. The recently revised standard ANSI Z80.3-2018 “Ophthalmology – Requirements for sunglasses and over-the-counter spectacles” helps ensure that these goals are met.
ANSI Z80.3-2018 provides standard guidelines for lenses designed to attenuate light when worn with sunglasses. It does not cover products such as personal eye protection for professional and educational activities (eg welder’s mask). It also does not apply to equipment designed to provide eye protection for sports activities (such as alpine skiing, snowboarding and lacrosse equipment). Lenses covered by ANSI Z80.3-2018 are also not designed for use in low light conditions.
ANSI Z80.3-2018 provides information on the flammability and durability of sunglasses and guidelines for the cosmetic, refractive and transmissive properties of sunglasses to be determined by the manufacturer using an appropriate statistically significant sampling procedure at the appropriate stage. production. The document details the testing procedures for evaluating these properties.
ANSI Z80.31-2017 Standard for Ophthalmic Optics Non-Prescription
The internet is rife with advice on how to choose between custom-made and ready-made eyeglass frames. And these tips aren’t just relevant for sunscreen products. Glasses also help to achieve perfect vision when buying prescription glasses, forgetting about myopia or farsightedness.
Standard ANSI Z80.31-2017 “Ophthalmology – Ophthalmic Optics – Specifications for Ready-to-Use OTC Myopia Eyewear” specifies the minimum requirements for ready-to-use optics available directly for purchase without a prescription by a licensed ophthalmologist professional.
Prescription polarized glasses: An essential purchase for bright sunshine
In spring, summer and even winter – in bright sunny weather you have probably encountered glare from smooth objects that interfere with your vision: wet asphalt, water surface, snow, shop windows and car windshields. We are sure that you have been thinking about buying polarized prescription glasses for a long time!
Yes – you certainly know that there are traditional polarized sunglasses that are bought for high-quality vision. For example, everyone knows polaroid polarized sunglasses. But for medical glasses, there are special types of lenses in which the technology of light polarization is used.
A special filter-polarizer built into the middle of the spectacle lens removes reflected sunlight, creating soft and comfortable vision in any environment.
Buy branded polarized glasses with diopters in Moscow, St. Petersburg and any city in Russia
Prescription sunglasses can be customized with polarized lenses. There is no limit to diopter power or astigmatism. Moreover, they can also be with progressive lenses!
In addition, special multi-coatings can be applied to such spectacle lenses to improve optical quality and daily use.
Such sunglasses for vision you can buy in the Opticbox online store. We will offer several toning colors to choose from: dark brown, dark gray, dark green and eggplant.
Important characteristics of prescription polarized glasses:
- Extraordinary clarity in bright sunny weather
- No glare from smooth objects
- Without reflections from shop windows, windshields of cars
- Improving the safety of driving and being on the street
- Increased UV protection
- High quality Japanese or German lenses according to your prescription
- Excellent appearance and mood!
Optical specialists recommend buying polarized glasses with diopters for drivers, athletes, fishermen, people who spend their holidays at sea or in the mountains, and simply – for a comfortable stay on the city streets.
Please note that if you have planned to buy polarized glasses with diopters, then they must be ordered in advance, since the production and delivery of German or Japanese branded lenses takes 12-14 days. And if such a kit was planned for a vacation or a business trip, then in 2 weeks you must place an order for glasses so that the Opticbox optics have time to assemble a ready-made structure for you.

90,000 How to read a prescription for lenses?
Right / Left Eye (OD / OS)
It is important to enter your recipe values correctly for the right and left eyes.Very often these parameters have different meanings for one and the other eye. As a rule, in the prescription of an ophthalmologist, they write “OD”, “Right” or simply “P.” – for the right eye; a, “OS” “Left” or simply “L.” – for the left eye … abbreviating these abbreviated words.
Sphere (sph.)
The Sphere parameter gives the basic diopter power required by your spectacle lenses. As a rule, in the prescription of an ophthalmologist, they write “Sph”, “Sphere” or simply “S” – “Sf.” – abbreviated by abbreviation. This value is preceded by a “+” sign when you have farsightedness, or a “-” sign if you have myopia. In some cases, the prescription does not put any sign on the glasses – then, by default, this means “+” diopters.
If you are unsure of the “scope” value you should include in your order for spectacle lenses, please call our optician consultants at 8 800 777 5929. Our friendly team of experienced opticians are happy to assist you in choosing the right glasses.
Cylinder (Cyl.)
When you have “astigmatism,” the cornea of the eye is deformed. The round shape of the cornea actually becomes oval. This can happen both vertically and horizontally. With astigmatism, clear vision in some directions disappears. Astigmatic eyeglass lenses can correct vision with different diopters in horizontal or vertical lines.
In the case of “astigmatism”, the “cylinder” parameter is included in the prescription for spectacle lenses, which compensates for this distortion. The meaning of “cylinder” can be found in your eyeglass prescription. Basically it is written as “Cyl”, “S.”, “Tsil.” abbreviating the word “Cylinder” in abbreviation. This value is also preceded by a “+” or “-” sign, be careful when ordering.
The parameter “Cylinder” is always accompanied by another value – “Axis” – read about it below.
If you are not sure what value of the “cylinder” you should enter into your order for spectacle lenses, please call our opticians –
consultants by phone: 8 800 777 5929.Our friendly team of experienced opticians are happy to help you choose the right glasses.
Axis (Ax)
This is the value of the tilt axis of the “cylinder” indicated in degrees. It describes the orientation of the “cylinder” in the opening of the spectacle frame. For accurate correction of astigmatism, you must thoroughly follow the doctor’s prescription indicated in the prescription.
This parameter is always between 0 ° and 180 °. Basically it is written as “Ax”, “Axis”, “Axis”, abbreviating the word “Axis” in the abbreviation. If you are not sure which Axis value you should include in your order for spectacle lenses, please call our optician consultants at 8 800 777 5929. Our friendly team of experienced opticians are happy to assist you in choosing the right glasses.
Addition (ADD)
The “Add” parameter describes the power of diopters required in addition to “distance vision” so that you can see clearly at “close range”, such as reading or working on a computer – without changing glasses. This value is found in “progressive lenses”, which simultaneously correct vision at three distances “distance” + “middle distance” + “near”.
This value only appears when bifocal or progressive lenses are selected and you can find it in your eyeglass prescription. Sometimes, this parameter is written as “add” or “ADD”. In addition, often, this value is recorded once for both eyes (right and left).
If you are not sure what value to enter in the “Addiction” field, please call our optical consultants by phone: 8 800 777 5929.Our friendly team of experienced opticians are happy to help you choose the right glasses.
Center-to-center distance of pupils RC (PD)
“RC” is the position of your eyes in the frame. The ophthalmologist in the prescription indicates at what distance from the bridge of the nose or the center of the nose is the right and left eyes separately, in millimeters. In this case, this parameter will be in the range of 25-40 millimeters. If the doctor combined this value for both eyes together, then the “RC” value usually varies between 50-80 millimeters.
If your recipe has an average “RC” value, you divide that number by two (in half) and enter the result in the right and left eye fields. For example, “RC” is indicated as 63 mm: it turns out that for the right and left eyes this parameter will be 31.5 mm.
The value for “RC” can be found in your eyeglass prescription. Basically it is written as “RC”, “PD”, “DP”, abbreviating the phrase “distance of centers” in abbreviation.

Michkov almost robbed the last defender of the German national team in a foreign zone. I could have jumped 1 to 0. Slightly not enough.
‘8
Roman Tsap attacked the gate of Ivanov. The position was good, but the strength of the shot was not enough, and Ivanov caught. And once again the goalkeeper rescues our team after throwing the opponents from a throw-in.
‘7
Gleb Ivanov, who was playing the first game in the tournament, threw well from the blue line from under the defender, but off target.

Quite a good click from the blue line from Arseny Koromyslov – Kvapp managed to fall to his knees and deflect, but it did not work to finish off the striker who was rolling.
‘2
In the second minute of the match, the Russian national team had a good moment, but Kwapp coped with a shot from an acute angle. At the same time, the Germans attacked twice – before and after the Russian shot. Ivanov is also in place.
‘1
The Russian national team starts actively and immediately tests the strength of Nikita Kvapp, who defends the German goal. That one is in place.
‘1
Let’s go! The match has started.
00:00
The Russian national team is fighting for the first place in group B. Well, or at least for a higher seeding, which will make it possible to play in the quarterfinals not with Canada or Sweden, but with Switzerland, Belarus or Latvia (although after 1:12 from the Canadians, the prospects of the Swedes look very vague).
At the moment, the position in subgroup B is as follows: Finland leads with five points, the USA – four, the Czech Republic and Russia – three each, and only Germany is without points. All played two matches.
23:55
We note that at the goal of our team in the second match in a row Sergei Ivanov, who did not change his clothes in the game against the United States, while both of his colleagues played. But against the Finns, Ivanov took advantage of his chance, reflecting crazy 52 shots. His fault for the defeat is definitely not.

90,000 Goggles to protect your child’s eyes – Health
Every year thousands of eye injuries can be prevented if more people wear safety glasses or goggles Look for convenient features such as hypoallergenic frame material and shock absorption

Every year thousands of eye injuries can be prevented if more people wear safety glasses or safety goggles.
Look for convenient features like hypoallergenic frame material and shock absorbing coating in these Rec Specs glasses. They come in a variety of colors and some styles work with prescription lenses and helmets.
Eye injuries are all too common when adults and children enjoy sports or work around the home. Children are especially vulnerable to eye injuries because they often do not feel that their eyes, and possibly their entire life of healthy vision, are at stake.
According to a Blindness America warning, approximately 40,000 sports eye-related injuries each year in the United States are serious enough to require emergency room assistance – once every 13 minutes!
And experts agree that 90 percent of these injuries can be easily prevented by wearing safety glasses. For children, eye injuries occur mainly during sports and other active games. Children must wear eye protection for the following sports and entertainment:
- archery
- badminton
- baseball
- basketball
- boxing
- fencing
- field hockey
karate
karate
lacrosse
Paintball can also be dangerous and is a growing cause of eye injuries among children and young adults.[Learn more about eye injuries in paintball.]
Lead by Example: Wear Safety Goggles and Sports Goggles
Perhaps the best way to encourage your children to wear safety glasses is to give an example and put it on yourself.
For example, invest in modern safety goggles to protect yourself and your children, and wear these goggles whenever you play sports or work with tools or strength equipment. Insist that your children follow your example.

Let your kids choose safety glasses
When buying safety glasses and safety glasses, let your child choose the style he or she prefers (as long as it provides the eye protection they need) …
Sleek glasses with polycarbonate lenses protect your child’s eyes from pool chemicals, hydrogen microorganisms and the sun’s ultraviolet rays. You can even get them with prescription lenses.
Seek the advice of a professional optician to ensure that the glasses fit well and provide the necessary protection for your child’s sports and activities.
Protective goggles for sports such as baseball, hockey and lacrosse must include a polycarbonate mask or wire screen.
Goggles for other sports – including basketball, football, hockey and tennis – must have wrapped polycarbonate lenses or side shields.[Read how to fit sports goggles on your child’s face.]
Safety goggles can be purchased with prescription lenses from an eye care professional so babies in need of myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism can see clearly while they are on sports without the risk of eye injuries.
Other considerations when buying protective eyewear for children
Lens materials are important when choosing protective eyewear. Trivex and polycarbonate lenses are significantly more shatter resistant than standard plastic lenses, making them the best choice for safety and sports eyewear. In addition to providing superior eye protection, these lenses are also lighter than plastic lenses for greater comfort.
Safety goggles are also required for skiing and other outdoor sports. Ultraviolet (UV) rays and excessive sunlight bouncing off snow and ice can lead to painful sunburn of the eyes called photokeratitis. Long-term UV exposure has been associated with cataracts and macular degeneration later in life.
To protect your child’s eyes from the short- and long-term hazards of the sun’s ultraviolet rays, make sure their sports sunglasses and ski goggles provide 100% UV protection.[Learn more about UV rays and your eyes.]
Finally, research shows that in addition to the sun’s ultraviolet rays, the high-energy visible blue light emitted from the sun, as well as the screens of computers and other digital devices, can have long-term damaging effects on our eyes. …
To protect your child’s eyes from UV and blue light indoors and outdoors, consider photochromic polycarbonate lenses. These light-sensitive lenses are clear indoors, then darken in sunlight and provide 100% UV protection and ample blue light protection at all times.
Photochromic lenses are also very convenient because they reduce the need for a separate pair of prescription sunglasses. Ask your optician to show you a sample.
