Boys’ Lacrosse Leagues
Boys’ lacrosse leagues are offered in the summer, winter, and spring seasons.
Registrations are primarily on an individual basis, however, some leagues may accept team registration.

Stage 1 – 0-6 years
The young students are given the opportunity to learn basic movement skills like jumping, running, kicking, landing, throwing, scooping and catching in an enjoyable setting usually built around an informal play. Kids explore movement through such type of physical activities.
Stage 2 – 6-9 years
Kids are taught the basic ABCs – Agility, Balance, Coordination, and Speed while focusing on fun, co-operation and maximum interaction with the ball. There are lots of sample activities and sports for kids to learn.
Stage 3 – 8-12 Years
This is often called the golden age for learning and developing sports skills. Children are able to learn from their mistakes by this age and it is the best time to build lacrosse-specific skills and learn to pay in a fun yet challenging environment.
Stage 4 – 11-14 years
This is the stage where we make or break an athlete. Strong technical skills and tactical awareness are taught to young athletes. Players are taught concepts like mental preparation, goal setting, and sportsmanship spirit. Players are taught advanced technical skills and position- specific techniques. The major emphasis is on applying these skills and strategies to competitive situations. Athletes participate throughout the year in a variety of physical activities.
Stage 5 – 15-18 years
In this stage, players fine-tune their lacrosse skills under different competitive games that reflect like an actual adult game. Players still work on developing their tactical awareness, discipline, and mental strength. They are improving their performance in each competition during this stage. Athletes may now start choosing one or two key sports or still play a variety of different physical activities.
Stage 6 – High Performance – In this stage athletes focus on maximizing their fitness preparation and sport-specific skills. This practice will help them in optimal performance and it is wise if athletes focus on only one sport.
Participate and Succeed – For those athletes who do not wish for such an intensive path they can choose this stage which focuses on performance excellence, fitness preparation, and position-specific skill performance.
Stage 7 – Lifetime
Lacrosse athletes can lifelong participate in these clubs whether for competition, or fitness or also apply themselves as coaches, program leaders or supporter of the sport.

TVYLL is proud to be affiliated with and a grant recipient of the Positive Coaching Alliance and have required ALL our coaches to be certified by taking a two hour course which includes the following powerful easily remembered component: ROOTS
As we look forward to the Spring season, please help us Honor the Game by following the ROOTS example:
R is for Rules:
Rules allow us to keep the game fair. If we win by ignoring or violating the rules, what is the value of our victory? TVYLL believes that honoring the letter AND the spirit of the rule is important.
O is for Opponents:
Without an opponent, there would be no competition. Rather than demeaning a strong or weak opponent, we need to honor both strong and weak opponents because they challenge us to do our best as players and as leaders. Athletes can be both fierce and friendly during the same competition (in one moment giving everything to get to a loose ball, and in the next moment helping an opponent up). Coaches showing respect for opposing coaches and players sets the tone for the rest of the team. On the same note, parents on the spectator side should applaud great play by other teams even if the results are not what they had hoped for. Comments about players abilities should be kept to oneself. Please remember that we have both experienced and new players every year so we need to encourage and applaud them all.
O is for Officials: (VERY IMPORTANT)
Respecting officials, even when we disagree with their calls, may be the toughest part of Honoring the Game. We must remember that officials are not perfect (just like coaches, athletes and parents!). Take time to think about how to best approach an official when you want to discuss a call. What strategies do you have to keep yourself in control when you start to get upset with officials’ calls? We must remember that the loss of officials (and finding enough in the first place) is a major problem in most youth sports organizations, and we can find a solution by consistently respecting officials. Never confront an official in front of players. Always finish the game by shaking their hands and saying “Thank You!”.
T is for Teammates:
It’s easy for young athletes to think solely about their own performance, but we want athletes to realize that being part of a team requires thinking about and respecting one’s teammates. This respect needs to carry beyond the field/gym/track/pool into the classroom and social settings. Athletes need to be reminded that their conduct away from practices and games will reflect back on their teammates and the league, club, or school.
S is for Self:
Athletes should be encouraged to live up to their own highest personal standard of Honoring the Game, even when their opponents are not. An athlete’s respect for themselves and their own standards must come first.

Goals & Highlights

— Хоккей России (@russiahockey) November 13, 2021
6` The Russian national team got the majority, but in two minutes ours did not manage to create a single chance, but the Swedes fled twice in a counterattack.
19` The Swedes are opening an account, ours have not figured out how to defend. Anton Bengtsson corrected the puck into the goal. A minute remained before the break.
20` 0: 1 we lose after the first break. The ratio of shots on target – 12: 5 in favor of the Swedes
22` Michkov !!! Our junior scored a fantastic puck.Lacrosse goal from out of goal. In addition, the 16-year-old striker became the youngest goal-scorer in the history of Russian hockey. 16 years, 11 months and 4 days. Nobody scored so early in our national team. Just look!
24` The Swedes answer almost immediately. Klingberg brings Tre Krunur forward again.
26` But ours are comparing again. Artem Galimov makes the score 2: 2.
35` And again Sweden comes forward. Anton Lander managed to take the puck on the spot.Ours easily allow the Swedes to penetrate the defenses
40` 3: 2 after two periods
48` The Swedes score again. Skip the line. For the first time, the gap has widened to two washers. Klingberg doubles
60` Ours in the end removed the goalkeeper, but failed to score. The second defeat, which, of course, brightened the miracle goal Michkov

90,000 Michkov united: the star debutant brought Russia a victory over the Czechs | Articles
The Russian national ice hockey team took third place in the Karjala Cup – the first stage of the Eurotour this season. On Sunday, Oleg Bratash’s charges defeated the Czech team in Helsinki with a score of 5: 2. Among the Russians, Alexander Yelesin, Dmitry Voronkov, Nikita Tertyshny, Matvey Michkov and Artem Galimov distinguished themselves.Previously, our hockey players lost to Finland (0: 3) and Sweden (2: 4). At the same time, the highlight of the tour was the puck of the 16-year-old debutant Michkov, scored by lacrosse in the game with the Swedes. It is worth noting that a significant part of the team this time was made up of hockey players who will form the basis of the youth team of Russia at the youth world championship. So the result is quite logical, considering the fact that the rest brought experienced players to the Eurotour who are not new to high speeds and wrestling.
Finnish majority and two goals to Swedes
In the first match of the tournament against Finland, the Russian team lost 0: 3. The opponent scored all the goals in the majority, but our team in front did little. The lack of experience of many hockey players probably also affected.
“The opponent’s team is definitely more experienced, more skilled,” said Alexander Fomichev, former CSKA and Avangard goalkeeper and KHL TV expert, in an interview with Izvestia.- What happened in that meeting is that they did not concede in equal compositions. All goals were conceded in the minority. What didn’t work out was playing with the puck. In this component, we need to add, it was very difficult to get out of the pressure of Finnish hockey players and did not create anything in the attack. Therefore, accordingly, not a single goal was scored.
With the Swedish national team, the Russian team turned out to be more productive than with the Finns. In this match, a historic event took place, which all experts predicted.Matvey Michkov, 16, is the youngest ever scored goal for the Russian national team. And he scored a goal in the style of lacrosse – lifting the puck on the hook and leaving the gate, threw it into the net over the goalkeeper’s shoulder.
“We also played with the Swedes against a much more experienced opponent,” continued Alexander Fomichev. – I managed to score two goals, it’s not bad. We began to play more aggressively and actively under the opponent’s goal. But at the same time, they did not always succeed in defense. The Swedes played more actively and harmoniously in the attacking zone.Michkov? If in the first match against the Finns he was invisible, then it was in the game against the Swedes that moments and acute situations began to appear at the opponent’s goal, in the end he scored a lacrosse goal.
Feel the game and win
The game with the Czechs turned out to be the most productive, and most importantly, it ended with the victory of the Russian team. If you look at the game of our team at this tournament as a whole, then a good picture emerges: the Russian national team went upward, adding up with each game, and now they achieved victory. Also with a difference of three washers.
– Our guys understood what speeds on the Eurotour and how to play correctly against more experienced guys at the level of the national team, – Alexander Fomichev is sure. – Accordingly, on the whole we played a very good match. Especially the second period, when they completely owned the initiative. But in the third, they still allowed the Czechs to catch courage, allowed the opponent to score two goals. But in general we got together and brought the match to a victorious end. In today’s match against the Czechs, Matvey Michkov acted more like a proprietor, I would say so.He felt the game, what and how to do, this allowed him to further reveal his talent.
I would like to note the leaders of the team, especially in the last match. Both Alexander Galimov and Dmitry Voronkov played great – the guys on whom the stake was made in the role of leaders at this Euro Hockey Tour. Dmitry Shugaev played two of the three matches of our national team at the Eurotour, and here he proved that he was not called in vain.
– Shugaev spoke very confidently against the Czechs and Finns. Largely thanks to him, we conceded only two goals in Sunday’s game, – says the source of Izvestia.
Last season Askarov’s surname sounded quite often. He showed the game at a very good level. As for the current one, not everything works out here. Although Yaroslav is tipped to be the main goalkeeper at the MFM this year, he still has work to do.
– The thing is, he set the bar high last season. Of course, it is difficult to maintain it, not everything works out, luck is not always so accompanied. And accordingly, Askarov is a young goalkeeper, he is learning. He must learn from this and draw the right conclusions. For him, probably, the main thing is playing at the MFM, for which he should be preparing. He should understand what and on what components he should work and what to add. This match with the Swedes just showed a lot, and for him it is a great experience, – concluded Alexander Fomichev.
A month later, the second stage of the Eurotour will take place. Traditionally, it will be the Channel One Cup, which this year is to be held from December 16 to 19. According to the first vice-president of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, Roman Rotenberg, the Canadian national team will play in the tournament this year.Recall that in 2017, Canadians have already performed in Moscow in preparation for the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.
90,000 Results of the Karjala Cup for the Russian national team – Real time
Four main results for the Russian national team at the Finnish stage of the Eurotour
A small feat of last season, when Igor Larionov swooped in to take the 2020 Karjala Cup with his daring youth, this time could not be repeated. We did not see any bright scoring leaders, or a coaching idea: the coaches left the team every now and then for various reasons. But we saw several individual breakthroughs – from Michkov, Voronkov and Galimov. The sports editorial staff of Realnoe Vremya sums up the main results of the not very successful performance of our guys at the Finnish stage of the Eurotour.
This time the plan did not work: the youth did not pull the Karjala Cup
The successful experience of sending young and hot guys to Finland prompted the bosses from the FHR to do this trick again at the Karjala Cup – 2021.However, as the Greek philosopher Heraclitus said, you cannot enter the same river twice.
If last season Rodion Amirov tore apart the Russians (scored goals in all three games), who wanted to prove his stardom before the upcoming MFM in Edmonton, then this year there was no such clear leader with high motivation in the squad. And it definitely cost the Russians the points of the most important goals. Two defeats and one victory over a rather weak Czech national team.
During the entire Karjala Cup, our team scored the first only once – the day before, at the very end of the tournament, as a result – the first victory in the tournament.Young hockey players saw that it was possible to play here, gained confidence and, as they say, “pushed” forward, and with special arrogance, for which the fans love youth tournaments and teams.
We did not see any bright goalscoring leaders, or a coaching idea. Photo fhr.ru
By the middle of the match with the Czechs, ours were leading 4: 0. And then the problems began. Obviously, the inexperienced team did not quite understand what to do with such an advantage for another 30 minutes of net match time. They still do not know how to play on hold, and it is not so easy to go and score.Fortunately, they held out. But obviously the trick didn’t work the second time.
Matvey Michkov has already gone down in history
Before the start of the Karjala Cup, fans and journalists were happy for Matvey Michkov that this 16-year-old guy could update the record and become the youngest hockey player to play for the national teams. But then hardly anyone could have imagined that things would go further and the extreme forward would also score in Helsinki, leveling the score in the game with the Swedish team.
Thus, the young SKA striker also became the youngest goal scorer for the national team in the history of national hockey, breaking Ovechkin’s record.Alexander the Great scored his debut goal for the Russian national team at the age of seventeen. Matvey scored when he was 16 years old and 339 days old. Now the question arises whether Matvey will be able to repeat or even surpass the most productive Russian hockey player in the NHL.
Just imagine the introduction to appreciate the importance of the moment: the debut goal for the Russian national team at 16, in the second game in its composition with the help of a spectacular lacrosse goal.
Most hockey players are hesitant for such a trick, both being experienced and at the end of their careers. One can only imagine at what level the guy has confidence in himself, if in his second game for the national team he climbed to score so impudently.
Michkov has at least two youth world championships ahead, including the home one in 2022. But by age it can fall into three. They will show how good Matvey is.
Galimov and Voronkov and as part of the national team practically do not play together
The coaching staff of Ak Bars Kazan receives a lot of discontent and grumbling for not wanting to use the three young and daring Safonov who successfully performed in the Gagarin Cup – 2021 – Galimova – Voronkova.Something in this combination confuses Dmitry Kvartalnov.
However, the coaching staff of Oleg Bratash – Sergei Zubov decided that these guys play more effectively separately. Safonov was unhooked from the roster even before the start of the tournament, but Artyom Galimov at first uselessly poked at the defense of the Finnish national team in conjunction with the “tractor drivers” Tetryshny and Abramov. But when he was put in the second three in the attack with the creative Matvey Michkov, then it went well – both scored a goal against Sweden.
After Michkov’s enchanting debut goal, hot water began to flow in Helsinki – first the Swedes scored, and then we scored 2: 2.
This is how Galimov equalized the score for the second time in this match # SWERUS #Russia in my heart pic.twitter.com/oMYuyd4zpI
– Hockey of Russia (@russiahockey) November 13, 2021
The same applies to Dmitry Voronkov, who captained the Finnish tournament. Only by the last game the forward of Kazan “Ak Bars” was hammered – he had two goals and a pass on his account. The second was pushed after joint efforts by all the same Matvey Michkov. Voronkov put the first one after the cool transmissions of other St. Petersburg “army men” – Marat Khusnutdinov and Nikita Chibrikov.
2: 0! Captain Dima closes Khusnutdinov’s transmission by rail. Closes – from the word lock! Voronkov! #CZERUS #samiRussia pic.twitter.com/8GEz7DtbZT
– Hockey of Russia (@russiahockey) November 14, 2021
Yes, at the end of the match Voronkov still gave Galimov a goal, but then the Czechs were already playing with empty gates and evaluate this interaction is difficult.
With some annoyance, we have to admit that the Kazan guys in combination with representatives of St. Petersburg youth look much more confident than in the Kazan Ak Bars.Including in interactions with each other. Talented guys from SKA revived Galimov and Voronkov, who had lost confidence.
Now it would be for the residents of St. Petersburg and in Canada at the MCHM as well. Well, Kazan guys come to life in the KHL.
Does Russia have ready-made sprockets for the MFM?
Actually, the performance of the guys from St. Petersburg SKA became the main positive revelation almost a month before the start of the youth world championship in Canada. We have already described the ode to Michkov above, but it is worth noting the assistant actions of Nikita Chibrikov, who made two goals out of five possible yesterday. An excellent transfer for execution was given to Voronkov and Marat Khusnutdinov.
Surely these guys will be one of the top three in Canada in December. Yes, it is too early for Michkov to take the lead, while Khusnutdinov and Chibrikov are more likely forwards to help the first stars on the ice. But with this, Oleg Bratash, perhaps, has problems.
90,000 Athlete Monitoring for Coaches: Frequently Asked Questions
You are a good coach. You follow the latest developments in coaching. You see the term athlete monitoring all the time, but what is it? Do coaches really take advantage of this?
Let’s start from the beginning with this handy little FAQ.
Q: What is athlete monitoring?
Athlete Monitoring (you will also see what is called performance monitoring, player tracking, GPS tracking, etc.) Has been used in sports for at least the last 10 years. Due to cost and complexity, it has been primarily used by large-scale professional, national and collegiate teams. They had both the money and the sports scientists to use all the wonderful data they were collecting. Stay tuned for more information on this in a minute.
Q: What sports use athlete monitoring?
There are many. This list is just a start, but if you train in any of the sports listed below, chances are good that your fellow competitors have already started using player tracking on their teams.
- Field hockey
- Australian Football
Q: Only professionals use monitoring of athletes?
Not anymore. The cost of technology has come down over the past few years, and brands like PlayerTek have developed systems specifically designed for coaches of all levels. This is why you see colleges, high schools, academies, amateur and youth teams around the world taking advantage of it.
Q: Why do coaches use athlete monitoring?
We have worked with thousands of trainers around the world and asked the same question. Some of the most common reasons we hear are that tracking players helps reduce injuries, provides a competitive edge, and helps coaches make better decisions.
Q: How does athlete monitoring work?
Athletes wear a small tracking device, which is often found in a compression shirt. This device uses the same GPS technology as your smartphone and tracks every movement of the player during a game or training session.
However, the real magic happens in the software. This is what will provide trainers with a dashboard to help them make sense of all the data. This allows coaches to quantify things like “How hard did my player work in training today?” and “Do I need to reduce my training load tomorrow to get ready for Friday’s game?”
Q: What types of data does Athlete Monitoring provide?
A good player tracking system will provide data that coaches can use to make better decisions. The PlayerTek System offers coaches information on important things like distance, top speed, kicks, distance at top speed, player workload, and energy metrics.

90,000 Michkov broke the record of Tretyak and Ovechkin
How did Vladislav Tretyak make his debut in the USSR national team? He started playing for CSKA at the age of 17, and coach Anatoly Tarasov noticed the young goalkeeper. And in the 1969-70 season, Tretyak played the first match for the main national team of the Soviet Union. The current president of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation was then 17 years, 7 months and 8 days.
How did Alexander Ovechkin make his debut in the Russian national team? The patriarch coach Viktor Tikhonov invited the young Dynamo player to the national team in September 2003 to participate in the Czech Games. Moreover, Ovechkin by that time had managed to shine in the Super League and played for the youth team, which won gold in January 2003. And in the senior national team, Ovechkin made his debut when he was 17 years old, 11 months and 15 days old.

It so happened that Tretyak and Ovechkin were next to the Karjala Cup – the Finnish stage of the Eurotour, where Matvey Michkov made his debut for the senior Russian national team.Alexander the Great congratulated the striker before the match with Finland – with the fact that the new prodigy of Russian hockey will break his record. Michkov was 16 years old, 11 months and 2 days old at the time of his debut.
“Matvey, hello. Ovi is in touch! I want to congratulate you on being called up to the Russian national team. Well done, you broke my record,” Ovi said, recording himself on the phone from somewhere in the car. “I want to wish you success and all the best . Work, and you will succeed. ”

Tretyak also appreciated Michkov’s debut in the match against the Finns when he left the locker room of the Russian national team.“When he becomes the world champion, then he will break my record. I managed to do it at the age of 17,” the great goalkeeper said with a smile. can try themselves in such high-level tournaments
11 world champions played for the national team of Finland. And I said to the boys: “Yes, you lost with a score of 0: 3. There are pluses and minuses. The downside is that when you grab 37 minutes of penalties, you can’t win.And the plus is that you conceded all three goals in the minority, but survived in equal compositions. We fought, tried. “Our guys are talented, they were given a chance. God grant Michkov that everything will work out in hockey. And maybe he will score a goal with the Swedes on Saturday. Let’s believe in it.”
Yes, the Russian national team presented an extremely young squad in Helsinki for the Karjala Cup, in which there were a lot of players under 20 years old. Actually, the federation decided to break in the backbone of the youth team, which will start at the MFM in Edmonton at the end of December. Moreover, the FHR has been repeating this trick for the second year in a row. And at the last Karjala Cup, the Russian team under the leadership of Igor Larionov won three matches out of three. But now the Finns have fielded a real European team, gathering the best forces from the Old World to test them with an eye to the Olympics. So the forces were initially not too equal.
Nevertheless, the Russian national team in equal compositions really did not miss anything – the Finns scored three times in the majority. Michkov threw on goal in the first shift. In total, he spent 7 minutes and 15 seconds on the ice, that is, 11 shifts. And he was serving on the bench a five-minute send-off for Ivan Zinchenko, when he was sent off until the end of the match. Michkov did not score a single point, like the entire attack of the Russian national team – but he became the youngest player in the history of the national team.
“I have very cool emotions. Thank you for giving me such a chance to make my debut in the Russian national team,” Michkov said after the meeting. “Yes, the first change began with a throw. And then it became easier to play.Because it was important for me to immediately touch the puck. “
Matvey is a serious guy, and he was not satisfied with his first match.
” We lost, so not very good emotions. We will draw conclusions and move on. We must add from game to game. We were preparing for this kind of hockey against the Finns. They have a very mature playing team. Many guys play in the KHL, and we are familiar with them. They played very well, they were able to realize their chances in the majority. Didn’t miss their chances. And I, as a young player, should learn from them. ” Canadian Connor Bedard will pick the pick. The same confrontation is brewing as between Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby. But now Matvey can take this baton, breaking another Ovechkin’s record in Helsinki – for the youngest goal for the Russian national team.
“Of course, Alexander wants to beat this record,” Michkov confesses. “But I even want the team to win the next games, and we gain points … Now they talk a lot about my record. But it doesn’t press. I don’t have anything like that. I feel. Everything is the same as it was before, when no one wrote anything about me. Everything is the same, usually. ”
Separately, Matvey spoke about the congratulations sent to him by the captain of “Washington”.
“It was unexpected and pleasant. Thank you very much for Alexander Ovechkin to record this video.I saw when I was tagged on Instagram. I looked and was very surprised, – said Michkov. – I follow all the NHL matches, I have been watching all the players since childhood. I know who plays how. It is doubly pleasant that the Russian player scores so much. I believe that Ovechkin will be able to break Gretzky’s record. “
And maybe years later Michkov himself will already be in the NHL to storm Ovechkin’s records. Who knows ?!

The level of the Eurotour is definitely not higher than the KHL. Results of the Karjala Cup for the Russian national team
The day before, the Russian national team completed their performance at the Finnish stage of the Eurotour, where they lost to Finland and Sweden, but were able to beat the Czech Republic and took third place in the tournament.
Only one positive impression
“The Russian national team (main, youth or Olympic – it’s not clear to the end) still took away one victory from Finland. If it was not possible to cope with the top composition of Finland and the mediocre Sweden, they still managed to beat the Czech reserve.True, there is not so much positive from this result – nevertheless, Dmitry Shugaev had to work at the goal no less than at Severstal, and the new leaders of the KHL were not particularly impressed.
The same Rashevsky clearly suffered without the patronage of a dispatcher at the level of Shipachev, and Tertyshny was not particularly impressed either. But there is no tragedy in this – this is the first experience for young forwards, which will only benefit them. It is sad that there was neither a game (even against the Czechs), nor any separate strong components. We lost face-offs over and over again, and often in the most crucial situations. In unequal compositions, problems also regularly arose.

As a result, almost the only positive point is Matvey Michkov. Despite the fact that initially his invitation was rather skeptical. As a result, Matvey broke not one Ovechkin’s record, as expected, but two at once.Michkov became not only the youngest debutant, but also the youngest author of the puck. Moreover, the 16-year-old junior managed to stick a lacrosse goal at the national team level, ”said the author of“ Sports Day by Day ” Anton Kudinov about the performance of the Russian national team.
Michkov’s Lacrosse and the Weak Minority
“The main factor that led Russia to defeat from the Finns is constant removal. The game in the minority, to put it mildly, failed – they were allowed to come too close to their goal, for which they paid.Galimov and Zinchenko have a lot of penalty minutes – however, they were corrected by effective actions. The Czech Republic was also allowed to pass in the minority.
But with the majority, things went on the mend: after unsuccessful rallies against the Swedes and the Finns, there were two goals in the first period with the Czechs. Against the weaker team, the Russian special brigades felt confident – already some kind of progress, but progress.
Russia – Czech Republic
Third place in the Karjala Cup – in general, the result is not so-so, but taking into account the experimental composition, it will come down. Now the Russian youth team will meet with its full complement to take revenge in Edmonton. Well, older guys have to wait for new challenges ”, – the correspondent of Sportbox Sergey Kulagin pointed out the strengths and weaknesses of the Russians.
Russia ends the Karjala Cup with a win over the Czech Republic
“Against Tre Krunur ours played in a disciplined manner, grabbing only one minor penalty. With the Finns, the Russians spent 17 minutes in the penalty box, and this is not counting the “twenty” striker Ivan Zinchenko for a deliberate blow to the head.Alas, the Swedes were given goals relatively easily, and ours did not use all the chances. This is how the acting head coach of the Russian national team Sergey Zubov explained the defeat 2: 4.
Goalkeeper Yaroslav Askarov has a minimum of claims – all the goals were scored from a patch. Although he did not control all the rebounds. Galimov noted the progress in the game of ours, it only remained to convert the positive into a victory over the Czech Republic.
Unfortunately, the team did not manage to present the “biscuit” to Shugaev. Voronkov stuck his stick under the skates of his opponent behind someone else’s gates, sat down in the penalty box, and the Czechs soaked the score.

The third period can be called the theater of one actor – Shugaev. Our goalkeeper came under carpet bombardment, but capitulated only once, keeping the Russian team victorious, “- summed up the performance of the Russian team, the author of” Soviet Sport “ Vladislav Domrachev .
Coaching crisis continues
“Oleg Bratash would not have dropped out, I think the impression from the work of the bench would have been better – after all, he is an experienced and, in his own way, a good coach. But the appearance of Zubov proved that we have some kind of problem with the coaches. In the game with the Czechs, we played some segment of four – because the coaches did not release the required player. At some point, we were left with three defenders – because the coaches did not make a change.
Russian national team
I have already said about the style of play and the thought: even today’s victory over the Czechs still left the feeling that it was a swim in the waves of the guys’ mood, and that the coaches did not control about anything. If the game is on, it’s good; if it doesn’t, it’s bad. In the third period, the Czechs flew and our team was left alone with this fact, and it does not seem that the coaches had any ideas. Withstood – and great.

You can forget this tournament and prepare for the next one, where we will have a different lineup of players, different coaches, and in general everything will be different.Preparations are underway – I don’t even understand why, ”says Sports.ru.
Contradictory impression from the last match in the Karjala Cup
“The defeats of the Russian national team in the two opening matches of the Karjala Cup against Finland (0: 3) and Sweden (2: 4) were sensitive – our team did little. And the only positive moment was a lacrosse goal from 16-year-old striker Matvey Michkov: he became the youngest scorer in an official match of the national team.
Russia – Czech Republic
The coaching staff of the national team finally abandoned the idea of playing combinations for the youth world championship. In every attacking troika for the match against the Czech Republic there was a player who was not suitable for the youth team in terms of age. Michkov, for example, was left in the top three with Vovchenko and Galimov. And Khusnutdinov, who plays on the flank in SKA, came out in the center of the first link with Voronkov and Rashevsky.
Found out, found out who is the author of the goal.At first they recorded Michkov, but then Voronkov was nevertheless made the author – it was he who pushed this unsecured puck into the goal.
This is 0: 3 in the match with the Czechs – in any case! #CZERUS pic.twitter.com/Llq5OHAELG

It seemed that with the score 4: 0, the Russian national team would calmly bring matters to the first victory in the Eurotour. But after the fourth missed puck, the Czechs perked up. We won back one goal at the end of the second period, and in the third period they could even equalize the score. Thanks to Dmitry Shugaev – the Severstal goalkeeper saved our team several times. It is he who can be called the best player of the team at this stage: there is nothing to reproach Shugaev with in the match lost to the Finns. But I wanted to see a high-level game from the whole team. We enjoyed it only for two periods “, – wrote the journalist of” Sport-Express “ Artur Khairullin in his article.
First Olympic win
“The first two matches at the Karjala Cup were unsuccessful for the Russian team.First, defeat by the Finns and a weak minority, then a more interesting match with the Swedes. Also lost, but remembered for the luxurious lacrosse goal of 16-year-old Matvey Michkov. Perhaps this was the most positive moment for both meetings.
As a result, Sergei Zubov is in charge of the national team, since Oleg Znarok fell ill and did not even fly to Helsinki, and Oleg Bratash left the location of the national team for family reasons.
