Our Story
The story of Medicine Man began in August of 2011 when we came to understand the importance of spirituality+inner consciousness and its effect on outer body performance. We began to study spirituality from indigenous communities and came across the link of Lacrosse and it’s origin as the Medicine Game.
As long time players of Lacrosse, it became apparent of this profound importance. However we were surprised to notice, that there were no active companies promoting the importance of Lacrosse as the Medicine Game. Noting it’s qualities of healing, community participation, friendship & competition, we believed that we had an obligation to create a platform to motivate and inspire lacrosse players to learn more about Lacrosse and it’s origins as a Native American healing ceremony.
In 2011, we produced our first line of motivational lacrosse clothing & apparel with a mission to help the everyday laxers express their passion for the game, represent their identity to the world and connect to the lacrosse culture. Medicine Man Lacrosse clothing set out to design apparel that incorporated the passion and dedication players have for lacrosse as well as the heritage and early beginnings of the game. Our inspiration to begin with clothing came from our own love of the game. What is SPEED Lacrosse?
Speed Lacrosse is a fast fun version of 3v3 lacrosse played on a small field. Players do not wear any equipment, and do not have positions. The game is supposed to be fast and free flowing and emphasizes skill.
What are the rules of SPEED Lacrosse?
Teams can consist of up to 5 players, and can be guys, girls or co-ed. There are no faceoffs in SPEED Lacrosse and the ball changes possession after ever goal. Penalties are called similarly to regular lacrosse, but there is no body contact allowed, and stick checking is minimal. One pass must be made on offense before a team can score, and you can’t score from the defensive side of midfield. Players can jump in the goal on defense, and offensive players aren’t allowed to wind up and shoot the ball as hard as they can. How does the scoring work?
Games have 3 periods, and each period is scored individually. The first team to win 2 out of 3 periods wins the game. If any period ends in a tie, the winner is determined in a shootout.

Lacrosse (fr. la crosse – “stick”) – a team game in which two teams try to hit the opponent’s goal with a rubber ball, using their feet and a projectile, which is a cross between a stick and a racket.

The game was invented by the American Indians, who used it to train warriors and peacefully resolve conflicts between tribes.According to archaeological research, the prototype of lacrosse was known in the territory of modern Canada as early as the beginning of the fifteenth century. Teams at that time often consisted of several hundred people, and the length of the field for the game ranged from several hundred meters to several kilometers.
European settlers first got acquainted with this game in the 17th century, and by the beginning of the 19th century it began to gain popularity among the French population of Canada. The first official lacrosse match took place in Canada in 1867.
Lacrosse was twice included in the program of the Summer Olympic Games – in 1904 and 1908.

Currently there are several varieties of lacrosse, differing in field size, number of players and rules. Since 1967, the men’s world championships in lacrosse on the grass ( eng. ) have been held, in which teams from various countries, as well as the Iroquois Indian tribe (since 1990), take part.
Current state
There are more than three dozen national lacrosse associations in the world, most of them are located in Europe and were created in the last decade of the 20th century, but the leading countries are the USA and Canada, in the eastern regions of which lacrosse is very popular.

In Canada, the game is the national summer sport. The Canadian Lacrosse Association was founded in 1867 and is the oldest in the world. Each year, there is an indoor lacrosse championship for adults and youth, in two divisions each, as well as a three-division outdoor lacrosse championship.

Starting in the 1990s, other national lacrosse associations began to appear, which now exist in two dozen European countries, in New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, etc. All of them are united in an international federation, with the exception of independent associations in India and China.
In Russia, this sport has barely begun to develop. There are two teams: “St.Petersburg Slayers “and” Moscow Rebels “, there is no national organization. The first official match in Russia took place on November 13, 2009 in St. Petersburg. Exactly one year later, another match took place in Moscow [2] .
