What are the Arden Diamondbacks lacrosse teams. How can players join the club teams. What leagues and tournaments do the teams participate in. Who coaches the Arden lacrosse programs.
Overview of Arden Lacrosse Programs
Arden Lacrosse offers competitive youth lacrosse programs for both boys and girls in the Maryland area. The organization fields two main team branches:
- Arden Attackers – Girls’ teams that compete in the Anne Arundel County (AACO) spring lacrosse league
- Arden Diamondbacks – Boys’ club teams (ADLC) that play year-round in top leagues and tournaments
Both programs aim to provide high-level coaching and development opportunities for young lacrosse players. The Diamondbacks in particular offer an intensive club experience with year-round training and competition.
Arden Diamondbacks Club Teams
The Arden Diamondbacks Club (ADLC) forms the cornerstone of Arden’s boys’ lacrosse program. These select teams train throughout the year and compete at a high level in leagues and tournaments across the region.
Key Features of ADLC Teams:
- Year-round training and development
- Participation in AACO league or top-level Howard County leagues
- Tournament play throughout the year
- Some teams practice on turf fields
- Highly skilled coaches at every age level
The Diamondbacks program is designed for serious players looking to elevate their game through intensive training and high-level competition. By offering year-round opportunities, ADLC helps players continuously improve their skills and lacrosse IQ.
Joining the Arden Diamondbacks
For players interested in joining the Arden Diamondbacks club teams, there are several pathways available:
Returning Players:
Existing Diamondback players can sign up directly through the Diamondback page on the Arden Lacrosse website. This streamlined process allows the program to retain its core players from year to year.
New Players:
Athletes new to the Diamondbacks program must undergo an evaluation process. Interested players should email Jeff or Bryan, likely the program directors, to schedule an evaluation session. This allows coaches to assess the player’s current skill level and determine appropriate team placement.
Select Year-Round Training:
For the 2023/2024 season, Arden Lacrosse is offering a select year-round training program for $799.00. This comprehensive training package is available for birth years 2030 and 2031, providing young players with consistent, high-quality instruction throughout the year.
Arden Attackers: Girls’ Lacrosse Program
While the Diamondbacks form the boys’ side of Arden Lacrosse, the organization also fields competitive girls’ teams under the Arden Attackers banner. These teams provide similar opportunities for female athletes to develop their lacrosse skills and compete at a high level.
Attackers Program Highlights:
- Participation in the Anne Arundel County (AACO) spring lacrosse league
- Additional tournament play throughout the season
- Registration typically opens around January 1st each year
The Attackers program offers a structured competitive environment for girls looking to improve their lacrosse skills and gain valuable game experience. By competing in both league play and tournaments, players are exposed to a variety of opponents and playing styles.
Coaching Philosophy and Staff
Arden Lacrosse prides itself on providing high-quality coaching at all levels of its programs. The organization emphasizes placing skilled coaches with every team to ensure players receive proper instruction in both basic and advanced techniques.
Coaching Approach:
- Independent coaches assigned to teams as needed
- Focus on teaching fundamentals to younger players
- Advanced training techniques for more experienced athletes
- Commitment to placing the most qualified coaches at each level
This coaching philosophy helps create a consistent development pathway for players as they progress through the Arden Lacrosse system. By emphasizing strong fundamentals early on, coaches lay the groundwork for more advanced skill development in later years.
Leagues and Tournaments
Arden Lacrosse teams participate in a variety of competitive leagues and tournaments throughout the year. This diverse schedule provides players with ample opportunity to test their skills against top competition.
League Play:
- Anne Arundel County (AACO) Lacrosse League – Primary league for both boys and girls teams
- Howard County Leagues – Some Diamondbacks teams compete in top-level Howard County divisions
Tournament Participation:
Both the Diamondbacks and Attackers programs supplement their league schedules with tournament play. These events often attract teams from across the region, exposing Arden players to diverse competition and playing styles.
The combination of structured league play and tournament competition helps Arden athletes develop well-rounded game experience. This balanced approach prepares players for success at higher levels of lacrosse.
Practice Facilities and Schedule
Arden Lacrosse utilizes a mix of practice facilities to accommodate its various teams and programs. While specific details may vary by team and season, some general information about practice arrangements includes:
- Some Diamondbacks teams practice on turf fields, providing a consistent playing surface
- Practice schedules are typically set by individual teams based on field availability and coach preferences
