90,000 Polish journalist called on Warsaw to abandon the role of a US satellite and take up its own geopolitics – InoTV
Today, reaching an agreement with Russia to tame China is a priority in American politics. The role of Poland, the main US ally in Europe, in this regard is reduced to the function of a lever forcing Russia to conclude an agreement on the most favorable terms for the American side, writes Polish journalist Marian Pilka. In an article for wPolityce, he urges the Polish authorities to abandon their role as a satellite to the United States and pursue their own interests using their geographic location.
Poland has become the most important US ally in Central Europe. Therefore, considering the American presence as the main guarantee of the country’s security, the Polish government is so zealous to place as many US soldiers on its territory as possible, Polish journalist Marian Pilka writes on the wPolityce portal.
He points out that the US government, albeit to a limited extent, is responding to this expectation by increasing its rotational military presence in Poland. Moreover, Warsaw itself announced the modernization of the army, although this is more political and propaganda than military in nature, and thus increases the level of security dependence on American policy.
In fact, Poland is adopting the American agenda for the security of the states of Central Europe. Thus, it becomes strategically dependent on the United States and renounces its status as a subject in the international arena in the hope that Washington will always stand up to protect its security. In practice, this is tantamount to accepting the status of a protectorate in the field of national security. “Such a policy may ultimately turn out to be a trap for which our country runs the risk of paying a radical weakening of its own security and a drop in its credibility in the international arena,” – he assures.According to Pilka, the priorities of the Polish security policy do not overlap very much with the priorities of the American security policy in the region.
The author is sure that now the main challenge for Washington is China’s plans for economic, military and political dominance in Asia and the creation of a multipolar model of the world, to which Russia is also striving in the hope of creating its own sphere of influence in the future system of international relations. “Having serious potential at their disposal, the Americans view Russia not as a threat, but only as possible support for Beijing. However, in the long term, Chinese policy also poses a threat to Russia’s position. There can be no strong Russia and no strong China. This is why Americans today see Russians as the first obstacle that must be removed in order to contain China’s ambitions, ” explains Pilka.
Therefore, without the inclusion of Russia in their political system, the Americans will not be able to isolate and contain Beijing. The Americans are not ready to accept Russia’s ambitions to create a multipolar world politics, so they are trying to force Russia to agree to the country’s inclusion in the system of American domination without the concessions that Moscow wants to achieve.Subjugating Russia to Washington would free Eastern Europe from Russian influence and tame China’s ambitions. According to this concept, American support for Ukraine and the strengthening of the military presence in Poland are nothing more than putting pressure on Moscow to recognize Washington’s strategic dominance.
“These goals fundamentally contradict the goals of Russian policy. The problem is that time is working not only against the Americans, but especially against the Russians.Russia is a decaying power, systematically losing its position in the modern world in demographic and economic terms ”, the journalist says.
In his opinion, today Russia is in a state of economic stagnation and depletion of energy resources, especially oil, the production of which will fall by 2035 to a level that satisfies only domestic needs. It is also losing its military positions. An aggressive policy towards neighbors will inevitably lead to an increase in military spending among many NATO countries and is fraught with the beginning of a new arms race, which the Russian economy will certainly not be able to withstand. The demographic crisis limits the possibilities of conscription, and in about ten years Moscow will lose its nuclear advantage over Beijing, the Polish journalist lists.
The Americans, however, do not lose hope that Moscow, which is under the threat of Chinese hegemony and is unable to conclude a strategic agreement with Western European states, will make a deal with the Americans in exchange for Russia’s regional security dominance. The Russians are primarily interested in a strong position in Ukraine, the Caucasus, Central Asia, as well as the Baltic and Arctic regions, Pilka writes.
That is why Washington is stepping up its policy of pressure to conclude an agreement in which Moscow will fully accept the American concept without much concessions. However, reaching an agreement on such terms is unlikely, so Washington does not want to guarantee its permanent military presence in Poland or the Baltic states, because this state of affairs will only complicate the prospect of concluding an agreement with the Russians.
“The Americans are leaving their doors open for the possible withdrawal of their military contingent in the event of an agreement with Moscow. The conclusion of such an agreement would put Poland in a very difficult position, not only in terms of security, it would significantly limit the conditions for our development. Consequently, realizing the real goals of American policy requires a completely different security policy than the one implemented by Warsaw at the present time ”, the author sounds the alarm. He calls on Poland to reconsider relations with the Americans and abandon the role of their satellite.
Reaching an agreement with Russia is a priority in American politics, and Poland’s role in this concept is reduced only to the function of a lever, forcing Russia to conclude an agreement on the most favorable terms. After all, the main goal of Polish politics is not to achieve a Russian-American agreement, but to consolidate the geopolitical changes that have occurred as a result of the collapse of communism and the collapse of the Soviet Union, as well as to provide geopolitical conditions for the development of Poland.
“Respecting American interests, we must first of all pursue our own interests and use our geographic location to develop our economic potential,” – Polish journalist Marian Pilka sums up on the wPolityce portal.
