Communication | Major Finder | Admissions
University of Delaware communication majors participate in a department-sponsored trip to New York City, which included a visit to 30 Rockefeller Plaza – the headquarters of NBC, the New York facilities of NBC Studios and NBCUniversal Cable. While there, students had the opportunity to meet with a panel of UD alumni working at NBCUniversal.
During a department-sponsored visit to New York City, University of Delaware communication majors had the opportunity to visit Paradigm Talent Agency, where UD alum Marty Diamond serves as Paradigm’s Head of Global Music. While visiting Paradigm, students met two panels of UD alumni to talk about their experiences and get career advice.
Experience hands-on learning: Kayla William and Quinn Kirkpatrick, 2021 graduates of the UD communication program, produced a documentary about the stories, history and people of the state of Delaware for their senior research project in the Department of Communication.
Put learning into practice: UD communication students share a three-minute presentation on a topic of their choice during COMM212: Oral Communication in Business.

Our major is designed around two central goals: increasing knowledge about communication processes and their impact on society and developing communication skills and competencies. In pursuing these goals, the Department of Communication has adopted a social and behavioral science orientation toward the study of human communication. All majors study communication in a wide variety of contexts, including interpersonal and mass communication in both mediated and face-to-face settings. ART WITH AN INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH
The B.A. in Art—one of three undergraduate art and design degrees offered at UD—provides the same foundation in art making through its Core studio courses that B.F.A. students receive along with additional upper level studio courses to further hone the student’s artistic skills. It encourages an interdisciplinary approach with many students earning a minor or second major from departments across the college and university. The B.A. provides an opportunity for students to develop highly personal portfolios that can incorporate art and design with work from other disciplines with very marketable results. The B.A. also reflects developments in Fine Art involving more environmentally and socially engaged art practices, technology or performance-based work, as well as artworks emphasizing academic research.

The University of Delaware School of Nursing offers several opportunities for students to become a registered nurse (RN). There are three types of undergraduate programs:
- Traditional Undergraduate Program: The traditional undergraduate program is designed for beginning students of nursing, including high school graduates and change-of-major students. This is a four-year on-campus program and students are directly admitted to the Nursing program, beginning their Nursing curriculum as freshman.
- Accelerated Degree Program: The accelerated degree program is a 17 month on-campus program designed for individuals who have a bachelor’s degree in another field and wish to pursue a bachelor of science degree in nursing.
- RN to BSN: The RN to BSN program is an on-line program designed for registered nurses who want to attain a bachelor of science degree in nursing.

Located on the Lower Level of the Morris Library, the Film & Video Collection maintains a growing collection of over 25,000 titles in VHS, DVD, Blu-ray, gaming, and legacy formats, including feature films, documentaries, and educational videos. The Library also provides access to over 70,000 eVideos via licensed streaming media collections. Both physical and streamed videos can be found searching DELCAT Discovery. Training prepares people to work in the tough and competitive environment of the entertainment industry. The learning process (due to its intensity) allows you to complete the training programs very quickly!
So, if in a “regular” university a student usually completes a Bachelor’s degree in 4 years, then here you can “do” a Bachelor’s degree in just 20 months of study! But these 20 months are studies without vacations and for 8 hours a day! Portfolio
The DPhil Presenter, in addition to your written work, requires a digital portfolio of recently completed studio work, documented with images or other documentation.
Your portfolio must be submitted digitally with your application, although you may be asked to bring the originals with you to the interview. Portfolios must be hosted on a website or service that is publicly available over the Internet, such as Vimeo, YouTube, Flickr, or your own website.
The URL (and password, if applicable) for the portfolio should be included in your application form on a separate page at the start of your writing.

Joe and Jill have chosen a rather unusual place for their honeymoon – the Hungarian People’s Republic, one of the countries of the socialist camp. As the publication Hungary Today wrote, the couple went to Eastern Europe on the recommendation of Biden’s friend Tom Lantos. The family of the latter emigrated to the United States from Hungary.

The visit was unofficial, but in Budapest Biden and his wife were received by Deputy Prime Minister Istvan Gusar and Deputy Foreign Minister of the Hungarian People’s Republic Janos Nagy.The couple spent most of their honeymoon enjoying the beauty of Lake Balaton.
Teaching passion
Initially, Jill entered the University of Delaware hoping to work in the fashion industry. But she quickly lost interest in this direction and decided to focus on teaching English. She also studied with children with mental disabilities. The work of a teacher inspired her so much that in the late 1980s she somehow confessed to her husband that she would not leave the profession even if he ever became president.
When Biden eventually became vice president under Barack Obama, Jill did indeed continue her teaching career, taking a job at a college near Washington. For the first time in history, the Vice President’s wife combined work and the role of second lady, for which she was respectfully called “Dr. Jill Biden” in the White House. In college, the protocol duties of their employee were treated with understanding and met halfway when she needed to take a day off for an official event or visit. Jill agreed to participate in her husband’s election campaigns only on weekends.

Participation in her husband’s political career
Jill Biden did not always support the ambitions of her husband, who back in 1988 tried to become a candidate for the US presidency.As the Washington Post reported, in 2004, she even staged a demarche at a meeting between her husband and Democratic activists who persuaded Joe Biden to enter the presidential race.
However, it was after the victory of George W. Bush in those elections that Jill Biden abruptly changed her mind. She was annoyed by the fact that the man who had drawn the US into the war in Iraq was re-elected president. “You have to change that,” she told her husband.
Later, Jill Biden actively helped her husband in the election campaign, helped him in writing speeches, she herself spoke in public with Michelle Obama.Last year, she attended several rallies with her husband’s participation and even confronted opponents who tried to interfere with the performance.
Charitable activities
Jill Biden is actively involved in cancer foundations and organizations that help families of military personnel. This is due, among other things, to the history of her family. Biden’s eldest son Bo, who spent part of his career in the military, died of cancer in 2015.
In 2010, Jill Biden starred in an episode of the Army Wives series about women whose husbands serve in the American army.
