Choosing the Right Bucket Hat for Your Style and Needs
With so many excellent bucket hat options available, how can you determine which one is right for you? Consider the following factors when making your selection:
- Material: Choose fabrics that suit your comfort needs and intended use (e.g., breathable cotton for everyday wear, water-repellent materials for outdoor activities)
- Brim width: Wider brims offer more sun protection but may be less suitable for active pursuits
- Color and design: Select options that complement your existing wardrobe and personal style
- Brand aesthetic: Consider brands that align with your overall fashion sensibilities
- Functionality: Prioritize features like ventilation or water resistance if you plan to wear the hat for specific activities
- Price point: Determine your budget and look for options that offer the best value within your price range
By carefully considering these factors, you can find a bucket hat that not only enhances your summer style but also meets your practical needs. Whether you opt for a classic design from Polo Ralph Lauren, an eco-friendly option from Adidas, or a fashion-forward piece from ASOS, the right bucket hat can become a staple in your warm-weather wardrobe.
Caring for Your Bucket Hat
To ensure your bucket hat remains in top condition throughout the summer season and beyond, proper care is essential. Here are some tips for maintaining your new headwear:
- Check the care label: Always follow the manufacturer’s specific care instructions
- Hand washing: For most fabric bucket hats, gentle hand washing with mild detergent is recommended
- Air drying: Allow your hat to air dry naturally, avoiding direct sunlight or heat sources
- Reshaping: While damp, reshape the hat to maintain its original form
- Storage: Store your bucket hat in a cool, dry place when not in use, avoiding compression or folding
By following these care instructions, you can extend the life of your bucket hat and keep it looking fresh for many summers to come. Remember that different materials may require specific care methods, so always prioritize the manufacturer’s recommendations for best results.
As we’ve explored the world of bucket hats, it’s clear that this versatile accessory has firmly established itself as a must-have item for the modern man’s summer wardrobe. From classic designs to fashion-forward options, there’s a bucket hat to suit every style preference and functional need. By choosing the right hat and caring for it properly, you can enjoy both sun protection and stylish flair throughout the warm months and beyond.
10 Best Bucket Hats for Men this Summer 2021
We say there’s no time like the present to embrace some summer fun in the sun. Printed shirts, “short shorts,” colorful sunglasses … it’s all fair game. And how best to top it all off? With a bucket hat for a true dose of ’90s fashion nostalgia. The bucket hats of today aren’t anything like the one you wore to summer camp years ago. Think of it like an alternative when you want to switch things up from your well-worn ballcap, but inject a bit of hard-won fashion sensibility into the equation.
And think of the style move as yet another way to throw caution to the wind and try something new. Or rather, something old. Throwback trends are back in a major way, and the name of the game is personal expression. Luckily, the coolest bucket hats offer both eye-catching style and even a bit of utility.
Related Guides
After all, what are you most likely to be doing while wearing a bucket hat? Fishing, swimming or, best of all, sipping on a cool drink while catching some rays, of course. If you want a well-suited hat for all your easygoing summer pursuits, the bucket hat is the one you need now.
These are our favorites to shop and wear in style all season long.

Best Bucket Hat for Retro Style: Adidas Originals Stacked Forum Bucket Hat

Finding great menswear made in the U.S.A. requires a bit more legwork, but it’s totally worth it when one considers the results. Take this corduroy bucket hat, made in New York from a cooling fine-wale cotton corduroy. We also love the teal color for summer style that calls to mind ocean breezes.
Best Fashion-Forward Bucket Hat: ASOS Design Wide-Brim Bucket Hat
It’s the brim and the minimal black color that makes this a bucket hat most likely to be seen on the runways alongside equally minimal menswear. That shouldn’t scare you away, because the price is more than agreeable, and the functionality you get from a wider brim is a nice bonus, too.
Best Utilitarian Bucket Hat: Orlebar Brown Foracker Bucket Hat
Orlebar Brown
Remember what we said about bucket hats offering up some much-needed functionality, too? Orlebar Brown’s option is as handy and useful as it gets if you want to shield your face from the sun in a lightweight manner (the cotton hat features ventilation points for breathability).

Playing the “Hat”: janemouse – LiveJournal
In every camp we play with the children during the day,
and at night we arrange gatherings with conversations and games for the parents.
Sometimes you get lectures about mathematics or learning to read,
but this is not every time.
But no camp can do without a “hat”.
The main thing is to play away from the rooms where the younger ones sleep,
otherwise there is a chance to wake them up with our laughter.
To begin with, everyone receives 5 small pieces of paper,
and writes one word on each piece of paper.
as in many other word games,
we write noun words, in the nominative case, with a small letter (names and names are not allowed)
Then we throw all these pieces of paper into a cap or hat.
Here is, for example, a set of words. But all these words can be seen at once only after the game,
and while the pieces of paper are mixed, and the game begins.
All players are paired.
We love to play with the same pairs throughout the game,
although it can be done differently.
Players from the same pair sit opposite each other.
The master starts a timer for 15 seconds.
(We play with beginners or with children for 20 seconds)
The first round begins:
the presenter says: “Let’s start, attention, march!” – and turns on the timer.
One of the players of the first pair takes a stack of pieces of paper from a hat,
reads the top word,
and begins to explain it in words,
without using the same root words and translations.
For example, “shipwreck” can be explained as “an accident at sea when two ships collided”,
and a “mousetrap” – “if you have rodents in your house, then you buy such a thing to swat them” or “this is something where is the free cheese “.
A player can explain one or several pieces of paper in one move,
his partner guesses,
the rest listen silently, but do not prompt.
If 20 seconds are over, and the word is not guessed, the piece of paper is put back in the hat.
The move goes to the next pair.
Now they explain, and the others listen and memorize words and explanations.
The hat moves in a circle,
sometimes fails to explain a single word per move,
and sometimes even 3-4 in 20 seconds.
This continues as long as there are words in the hat.
Then they count which pair of pieces of paper they have typed – and the same pieces of paper are put back in the hat.
The second round – we explain the same words in one word without prepositions – and gestures.
Try to explain in one word “revolution” or “ballistics”!
The third round is even funnier – all the same words, but only with gestures.
Can you explain the word “didactics” with gestures?
But we can!
Alinka, I took a picture of our word sets for you!
If we play with children, we write simpler words,
but if we play with adults, then there are such masterpieces as desman, traverse, need, monogamy.
Explaining with gestures is fun!
Salon game “HAT” | Correct games
The man stretched his arms out to the sides and waves them. Is it a bird? This is a plane? Maybe a windmill? No, it’s not that. Sometimes people are so dull that you want to shout at the top of your lungs: “Yes, this is a washing machine!” But the rules require you to remain silent, the timer inexorably counts down the time, and when friends finally recognize the ill-fated unit, it will still be necessary to show them inspiration.
“The Hat” is an artistic game for pleasant company. In it, you have to pull all sorts of words and concepts out of your hat, and then show, explain and draw them. Each participant in turn becomes the leader, and the rest of the players guess what exactly he is trying to convey to them. If the word is named correctly, both the one who guessed it and the leader get victory points. To earn more points, the facilitator can voluntarily shorten the time allotted to him or complicate his task: for example, draw only rectangles or show by clenching his fingers into fists.
Before the start of the game, players will need to get a Hat and a timer. The hat of the same name will serve as an ideal Hat, but it can be successfully replaced by any container from which you can blindly pull out leaflets with words, for example, an opaque bag or a deep box. The timer should measure time with an accuracy of five seconds: it is most convenient to use the built-in smartphone or tablet, but a sports stopwatch is also suitable. Now we need to fill the Hat with words. To do this, you can cut one or more ready-made sets into it (four of these sets are included in the box with the game), or you can write the words yourself on pieces of paper – but then it will not be so interesting to guess them. After mixing the words in the Hat, the participants choose the first leader and start the game.
On his turn, the leader first of all opens a card from the Hat deck. It indicates how many words he will pull out of the hat and how he will convey them to other players, for example: “Explain three words”, “Draw one word” or “Show two words.” Each task has its own standard in minutes and seconds: for the given examples, it is forty seconds, one minute and three and a half minutes, respectively.
Then the presenter can, if he wants, choose a complication: reduce the time allotted for guessing or draw out an additional condition card. If desired, he has the right to do both if he is absolutely confident in his own strength or needs additional victory points. To shorten the time, the presenter rolls a dice and checks with a special table: the fewer drops, the faster he has to cope with his task. The card of the additional condition is drawn from the deck corresponding to the way of completing the task: “Explain”, “Show” or “Draw”.This condition – for example, do not use verbs during the explanation or draw with the left hand – will apply to all words of the assignment.
Finally, the players start the timer, the presenter draws the required number of words from the Hat and in turn explains, shows or draws them. Explaining, the player must only speak, while it is forbidden to name the hidden word, related words or parts of it – including in foreign languages. When drawing, you cannot write anything, as well as help yourself with words and gestures. It is allowed to show words with any movements, but you should not “write” letters and numbers in the air, or make any sounds. As soon as the word is guessed, the presenter moves on to the next one. This continues until the leader completes his task to the end or the timer rings.
Victory points are awarded at the end of the turn. If the leader was able to explain, show or draw at least one word, he keeps a task card for himself – it brings two points. However, if the player did not manage to deal with all the prescribed words, he receives one penalty point.A similar penalty is imposed for breaking the rules. Victory points for complications are awarded only if all the necessary words are correctly guessed: 1 or 2 points are given for reducing the time, and the value of additional conditions is indicated on their cards. For each guessed word, the player gets a point, and if several people call the word at the same time, points are awarded to each of them.
The game continues until all the mission cards from the Hat deck have been played or until the words run out.The player with the most points is declared the winner.
Ready-made sets of additional words for the “Hat” can be purchased separately. They are folded in such a way that no one, including the owner, could read the words ahead of time. Before the game, it is enough to cut a strip of paper into the Hat along the dotted lines and mix the resulting pieces of paper. The simplest words are printed on white paper, complex ones (such as abstract concepts or scientific terms) on green, and combinations of two or more words on red.Coming up with your own sets of words, “Hat” can be used not only for entertainment, but also for learning – for example, foreign languages.
90,000 The Hat (game) is … What is the Hat (game)?
This is what a hat game with a judge looks like.
Hat – salon team intellectual game.
Rules of the Game
Two or more pairs of players participate in the game. Each pair forms a team. The number of players must be even.
A presenter who does not take part in the game is also desirable for the game.
Preparation
The game requires a hat (hence the name of the game) or any other opaque container, as well as cards (cut or torn pieces of paper).
Before starting the game, each player must come up with six (or more, sometimes less) words and write them on cards (one per card), without showing anyone. The exact number of words is negotiated before starting the game, all players must write the same number of words.
Words must be common nouns in the basic form of the language in which the game is played (for Russian – the nominative singular). Some use the names of characters (real and fictional) – this makes the game more difficult and interesting.
Words should be written in legible handwriting, ideally in large capital block letters.
When all the players have come up with and wrote down the words on the cards, all the cards are folded and placed in the hat.
After that, the players are randomly divided into teams. It is convenient to use playing cards for this. A pair of cards (red and black suits) of the same value are drawn from the deck, according to the number of players; are mixed and distributed.Players who receive cards of the same denomination form a team. If there are no cards at hand, you can write the team numbers on the cards and distribute them randomly.
Gameplay
Participants are seated in two rows facing each other, so that the players of the same team sit opposite each other.
Before the start of each round, the host will timed the time (usually 20 or 30 seconds).
At the command of the leader (or, in his absence, a player of the other team), the player of the first team, sitting on the right in his row, pulls out a card with a word from his hat and tries to explain its meaning to his counterpart.
Not allowed when explaining:
- Use of words with the same root (you cannot explain the word “corral” with the word “drive”). If the hidden word is multi-root, then no root can be used in the explanation.
- The use of direct translations of words or their roots into other languages (you cannot explain the word “canteen” using the word “table”)
- Using direct translations of the roots of foreign words (you cannot explain the word “liberal” with the word “freedom”)
- Use of gestures (including pointing to objects)
- The use of consonant words (you cannot explain the word “tavern” with the words “tobacco” or “boar”).
It is allowed and even encouraged to use similar sounding words, synonyms, lengthy explanations, metaphors and other techniques that do not contradict the above rules. At the same time, words that are consonant with the hidden one also need to be explained, and not named directly.
Vis-a-vis puts forward versions of what word is written on the card. Explanations and versions must be spoken out loud so that all players can hear them.
If the vis-a-vis guessed the written word and the appointed time from the start of the round has not yet passed, then the card becomes the property of the playing team and the player takes the next card out of the hat.If the second word is guessed, then the player gets the third, and so on.
If the player has violated the rules during the explanation, the card is removed from the game.
The tour ends after the specified time or when the card is withdrawn due to a violation of the rules.
If, after the appointed time, the player has not been able to explain the next word to his counterpart, then the card is returned to the hat.
At the end of the round, the hat moves to the next player clockwise. Thus, the hat goes in a circle: the players sitting in the first row pass the hat from the first team to the last, and the players sitting in the second row, on the contrary, from the last team to the first.
The game lasts until there are no cards left in the hat.
The team that guessed the most words wins (that is, the team with the most cards left by the end of the game)

- Improvisation (game) – Russian-language board game for guessing words. A principle similar to the game “Hat” is incorporated into one of the tasks of the game – “Blitz”: the player must explain to his team (and the team, in turn, guess) at least 10 words, conceived on the card, in 1 minute. You can use any words except those with the same root with the word being explained.
Little Nightmares 2: Guide: All Hats and Souls
Little Nightmares 2 has two varieties of collectibles – hats and chaotic remains (or hats and souls, respectively).Below I will tell you how to find each of the available items, which are associated with several different achievements and even a bonus cut-scene shown at the very end of the game.
By default, the main character will have only one headdress open – a paper bag. Two more headdresses appear in the game as two separate additions – the Mokujin mask and the gnome cap. Finally, another hat, like that of Thin Man, will be unlocked immediately upon completion of the game. The remaining eight hats can be found in in-game locations – two each in the first four chapters (in the fifth, last, there are no collectibles). The gnome’s hat will be hidden in a similar way, but the Mokujin mask will be unlocked and will become available from the very beginning of the game, as soon as you install the corresponding add-on.
Collecting all the hats will unlock three achievements. The first one is awarded for 6 unlocked hats, the next two – for all collected hats and equipment of the Thin man’s hat (that is, you will need to restart a new game).
As for chaotic remains or souls, there are 18 of them in the game.Souls are scattered throughout the four chapters of the game, with the exception of the fifth. Thanks to these souls, you will be able to unlock a bonus ending and five separate achievements – four for collecting all chaotic remains in each separate chapter, and another for collecting chaotic remains in all chapters.
Chapter 1
Chaotic Remains # 1 . Somewhere near the beginning of the first chapter, you will find yourself in front of an insurmountable abyss and a broken bridge. When you go down, jumping to the ledge in the foreground of the screen (do not jump directly into the hole, otherwise Mono will break), you will find the remains of a bridge, along which you need to get out to the right edge.Instead of climbing the boards, move past them to the right, along the foreground. Continue right until you find yourself in a tunnel that leads into a small cave with a grave and a shovel. The remains will be here.
Chaotic remains # 2 . A little further, after first interacting with dangerous traps and hitting with a stick to activate the trap, you will need to go down the hollow log. Having risen, turn around, bend down and move under the log to the left side in order to get through another tunnel into the cave with the corpse of the bear and the soul.
Headdress No. 1 . Shortly thereafter, you will find yourself in a residential building. Go inside through the window, move through the kitchen and you will find yourself in the corridor. Run to the front of the screen, then turn into the room on the left and find a hat made of a raccoon or some other animal on the floor.
The very first hat that you will find in the game.
Headdress No. 2 (addition) . If you have the Nome’s Attic add-on installed, then another additional hat will appear in the first chapter. And it will be possible to pick it up chronologically after the previous one. When you get to the attic, you will need to get over the locker on the left, pick up the handle, go back and knock down the key from above. After receiving this key, go back to the right and take out the drawer. You will see a gnome running out from behind the curbstone. This will happen ONLY with DLC! Follow him to the left. He will make his way past the corpse of the old woman, open the curbstone and climb even higher on the shelves to the attic. Climb up after him, the gnome will start hiding in different places.First, open the suitcase, and then throw the shoes or other object into the box on the cabinet on the right. Open the curbstone on the left, and then jump on the chair several times.
Chaotic remains # 3 . Follow the gnome through the ventilation after the portrait. It will be dark in the room, but you keep going straight until the gnome lights a match. Now, when you walk through the room, the gnome will try to follow you, but from above. Move deeper into the screen, to the wall, and then to the right. The gnome will follow you. Then he will stop, since there is nowhere to move on. There is a cart next to you. Pull her towards the gnome to the left. As soon as he jumps on the cart, push it to the right. He will jump to other shelves. Continue to go to the right, until the grate, and wait a little – the gnome must open it. When you go to the last room, interact with the switch to turn on the light in the attic. The gnome will be pleased and will even show you the hat. You need to go back, go past the trolley to the front and push the drawer out of the cabinet.Climb up on it and do almost the same path as the gnome, only go up a little higher so that you do not have to use the cart (otherwise it must be placed between the shelves). Back in the room with the switch, this time you will be on top and be able to pick up the gnome cap. To leave this place, follow the gnome through the hole in the wall on the right, go downstairs and break the board.
Chaotic remains # 4 . The following chaotic remains can be picked up only after leaving the residential building. After you go down from the attic, unlock the door with the lock on the right and go outside. There will be an annex in front and a toilet in the background. Jump onto the doorknob to open the toilet. The soul is hidden inside.
Headwear No. 3 . After you escape from the hunter with a shotgun, you will need to jump over another broken bridge. Mono will have to pull half of it, and Sixth will have to jump over with a running start. Then the girl will give her hand and you can do the same. So, just behind the bridge, there are many cells scattered in the background of the screen. Climb the stack of cells by the tree, and then jump to the left to climb onto the cell with the yellow hat. Jump on it until it falls down, and then pick up the next item. This raincoat hat is very reminiscent of the yellow raincoat itself that Sixth (will wear) wore in the first part.
Chapter 2
Chaotic Remains # 5 . At the beginning of the second chapter, once in the building, you will have to use the TV to rise higher. After pushing another TV, which will allow the Sixth to go upstairs, she will help you jump over the crack, once again extending a helping hand. Having done this, rise a little higher and go to the left, where the Sixth jumped. There will be another soul here, right at the edge of the floor.
Chaotic remains # 6 . After the first interaction with the turned on TV and moving along the corridor in slow motion, you will continue to move towards the school. On the playground right in front of the school building, move deeper into the screen. In the far right corner there is a tricycle with remains. This is the same place where you will also find the soccer ball headgear.
Headdress No. 4 . In the same place where the previous chaotic remains were found, on the playground in front of the school building, go to the right, under the canopy of the entrance. Jump down onto the dumpster in the foreground at the front door of the school. There is a soccer ball on it. This is actually the part of the ball from which the headpiece is cut.
Chaotic remains # 7 . After the first meeting with the creepy ceramic schoolchildren, you will be left alone. The next room contains stacked tables and a hanging bucket trap. Then, having dealt with the student, you will move through the hole in the door into the next corridor with lockers. Open the third locker from the door. This is the only one that lacks a latch. There will be a soul inside.
Headwear No. 5 . A little further, taking the elevator and making your way through the ventilation, you will find yourself in the library. As soon as you get into it, you will see a movable ladder. Move it one shelf to the right, placing it in the middle of the area, and then go upstairs and take the hat from the tin can.
Headpiece from the library.
Chaotic remains # 8 . The next chaotic remains are to be found behind the library, in the hallway in front of the room with the chess pieces. Go up the stairs to the second floor, but turn left. there are bottles under the railing, but there will also be a shower.
Chaotic remains # 9 . Immediately after the room with the chess pieces, as soon as you solve the puzzle, open the door to the dining room. Go down the steps, moving along the tiled walls, and you will find a cart that needs to be moved to the ventilation hole on the right. Do it, but take your time to climb the cart! Instead, open the door on the left that was blocked by it. This will take you to the freezer room. Climb the curbstone to discover the soul. You need to move up the corpse.
Chaotic remains # 10 . After you escape from the teacher through the air ducts, you will again find yourself on the rainy streets of the Pale City. After passing by the garbage container (and in fact using it to go upstairs), you will find a small alley where a paper boat is lying around. Come closer for the soul to appear.
Chapter 3
Chaotic Remains # 11 . As soon as you escape from the school, you will eventually get to the hospital. After going a little forward, you will find yourself in a dark room, where you will immediately pick up a flashlight. In the room to the right of where you pick up the flashlight, you can move deeper into the screen. There is a shower next to a child’s toy in the back of the room, by the door.
Headdress No. 6 . In the same hospital, behind dark rooms and a second interaction with a ghost TV, you will move through an X-ray room, behind which is a children’s room. There are many stuffed toys here, one of which contains a key to the door on top. However, you are interested in the shelves on the right. Climb along them to the very top and take the headdress from the head of the teddy bear.
Children’s room with a bear’s head.
Chaotic remains # 12 . Once you get the key by burning the correct plush toy, go upstairs and open the lockable door on the right. Walk forward to the next corridor with a lot of shelving, and then move deeper into the screen (along the corridor). At the very end there will be a dead end, but there will also be a soul.
Chaotic remains # 13 . After picking up the first of the two fuses, head to the left wing, where you will encounter many dummies. In the end, after a long chamber, you will find yourself in the corridor, where you need to move to the foreground of the screen. Hands from the mannequins will appear on the side. Instead of running forward along the corridor, go deeper into the screen to find a hole in the grate behind the door you just passed through. Look into the room on the left behind the bars to find chaotic remains. Careful, since there is a pit here!
Chaotic remains # 14 . Immediately after you overcome the corridor with hands and crawling mannequins, Mono will get into the shower room.Move to the far left corner, where the box is, move it and make your way through the tunnel into the room with the bathroom. The remains will be here.
Headwear No. 7 . After passing by many mannequins, after the first collision with the doctor, you will fall down from the ceiling into the morgue. Go left, pull out the locker and climb into it so that the Sixth helps to get to the other side. continue to the left and open the freezer to the left of the table to find a mummy-like headdress of bandages inside.
Chapter 4
Chaotic Remains # 15 . As soon as you deal with the dangerous doctor and leave the hospital, you will find yourself on the city streets. Walk deep into this street (before going right) and you will find an open hatch. Carefully go down through it, down the stairs, and pick up the soul sitting on the edge.
Chaotic remains # 16 . Going a little further, you will meet the first faceless viewers stuck in the screens of working TVs. Then the first elevator puzzle will be discovered (where you need to jump onto the elevator car to get higher). When you find yourself at the top, where there is a huge elevator attachment mechanism, go to the left and move the box to reveal a hole, behind which there will be a room with chaotic remains.
Chaotic remains # 17 . Next, you will need to overcome two long roofs (jumping from one to the other), while a huge tower can be seen in the background. At the end of these roofs there will be an intricate fence, along which you need to climb up to the other roofs. Instead, go behind the fence, climb the crate and climb through the window into a well-hidden room. The remains will be here. To get out of the room, you will have to move the box closer to the doorknob.
Headwear No. 8 . Immediately after finding the TV remote control in the Pale City, you will find yourself in a room with many packages (or just boxes). It looks like a post office! Jump down into the pit on the right and head left. Be sure to duck to get into the tunnel where the blue postman’s cap is hidden. Or a policeman?
One of the last hats in the game.
Chaotic remains # 18 . A little further, after you pick up the remote and get past the post office, you slide down the clothesline using the hanger. Once in the room through the window, get out back through it and move deeper into the screen along the visor of the building. Climb into the adjacent room through another window to find the next chaotic remains. This is the last soul!
Headdress No. 9 . Much later, after passing through many TVs, you will find yourself in an alley from which you will climb into the store. Here you move the grocery cart and then push it down into the electrified water. But take your time. Instead, place the cart just to the left of the ramp so that you can climb onto the shelf and reach the far left corner, where the next hat – the hat of the distributor of newspapers – is.
Headwear No. 10 . You will receive another hat after the first passage of the game, and you can put it on when you start a new game.
Headdress No. 11 (addition) .The Mokujin mask, which appears from the very beginning of the game if the corresponding add-on is installed.
Headwear No. 12 . Default paper bag.
Hat Game – Teaching Methods for Teens
The game involves two or more pairs of players. Each pair forms
command. The number of players must be even. For
a presenter who does not take part in the game is also desirable.
Preparation [edit | edit
wiki text]
The game requires a hat (hence the name of the game) or any other
opaque containers, as well as cards (cut or
torn pieces of paper).
Before starting the game, each player must come up with six (or
more, sometimes less) words and write them on the cards (one by one
on the card) without showing it to anyone. Exact word count
is negotiated before the start of the game, all players must write
the same number of words.
For the purposes of the lesson, the words are written by the teacher, this should be
fixed concepts. Perhaps something to repeat.
Words must be common nouns in
the main form of the language in which the game is played
(for Russian
language – nominative
case singular
numbers). Some use the names of characters (real and
fictional) – this makes the game harder and more interesting.
The words must be written in legible handwriting, it is better
in total – in large capital block letters.
When all the players came up with and wrote down the words on the cards, everyone
the cards are folded and placed in the hat.
After that, the players are randomly divided into teams. For
it is convenient to use playing
cards. A pair of cards (red and black suits) are drawn from the deck
of the same value, according to the number of players;
are mixed and distributed.Players who received cards of the same
dignity, form a team. If you don’t have maps at hand, you can
write team numbers on cards and distribute them at random
way.
Game process
Participants are seated in two rows facing each other, so that
players of one team sat opposite each other.
Before the start of each round, the presenter marks the time (usually 20
or 30 seconds).
At the command of the leader (or, in his absence, another player
team), the player of the first team sitting on the right in his row,
takes a card with a word out of his hat and tries to explain it
value to your counterpart.
When explaining, it is not allowed:
- Use of cognate words
(you cannot explain the word “corral” with the word “drive”). If
the hidden word is multi-root, then the explanation cannot
use no root. - Use of direct translations of words or their roots to others
languages (you cannot explain the word “canteen”
using the word “table”) - Using direct translations of the roots of foreign words
(you can’t explain the word “liberal”
using the word “freedom”) - The use of gestures (including an indication of
items) - The use of consonant words (the word cannot be explained
“Pub”
using the words “tobacco”
or “boar”).
It is allowed and even encouraged to use similar software
the sound of words, synonyms,
lengthy explanations, metaphors and
other techniques that do not contradict the above rules. At
this words, consonant with the conceived, also need to be explained, and
do not call directly.
Vis-a-vis puts forward versions of what word is written on the card.
Explanations and versions should be spoken out loud so that everyone
the players could hear them.
If the vis-a-vis guessed the written word and the appointed time from
the start of the tour has not passed yet, then the card becomes the property
the playing team and the player takes the next card out of the hat.If the second word is guessed, then the player gets the third, and so on.
If the player, while explaining, violated the rules, then the card is withdrawn
from the game.
For educational purposes, it is possible to leave the card in
hat.
The tour ends at the end of the appointed time or when
withdrawal of the card due to violation of the rules.
If after the specified time the player has not managed to
explain the next word to your counterpart, then the card is returned
in the hat.
After the end of the tour, the hat moves to the next one clockwise
arrow to the player. Thus, the hat goes in a circle: the players,
seated in the front row pass the hat from the first team to
the last, and the players sitting in the second row, on the contrary, from
the last command to the first.
The game lasts until there are no cards left in the hat.
The winner is the team that guessed the most words (that is, the one with
which by the end of the game there are more cards left)
“Boom” (version of “Caps” for home
parties)
There is a version of the game called Boom ,
which is similar to “Hat”, but goes in three rounds:
First round : Players in pairs explain to each other
words that are names
own – characters of books or films, known
personalities, even participants in the game.Rules during the explanation
act the same as in the “Hat”.
Second round : The same cards, already known
played, are played out with the condition of one key explanation
word. It is forbidden to say more than one word.
Third round : The same cards, already known
played, played out in full pantomime,
it is forbidden to help yourself with verbal prompts.
