Nike Huarache: Sizing, Fit and Styling Guide
Nike Huarache: Sizing, Fit and Styling Guide

Content creator based in North Carolina, US, wearing Stüssy x Nike Air Huaraches in Desert Oak
Right now, the Air Huarache is my favorite sneaker: it’s a classic silhouette that’s currently being overlooked because of the lack of hype surrounding it. I’m so glad Nike is bringing it back for 2021.
I believe that people who are currently picking up Air Huaraches are tapping into their personal style – something that’s certainly true for me. Shopping for sneakers has become such a hassle that every pair I cop is intentional, and these two retro releases are comfortable, versatile and perfect for summer.
Today, I’m wearing the Stüssy x Nike Air Huarache and I recently picked up the Scream Green colorway – the latter has a retro 90s feel that reminds me of old Spike Lee movies.
Styling: As far as my everyday style goes, I’m a classic guy. I’m not one to follow trends; I wear what I want. Personally, I feel a pair of Air Huaraches styled with a simple T-shirt and shorts is the ultimate summer 2021 ensemble.
My dad is my style inspiration, I look at old pics of him because he was so fly. When I get dressed, I always wonder if he would approve. I sent him these fit pics of me wearing my huaraches and he replied, ‘You’re killing it, son’.
Sizing and fit: When copping a pair of Nike Air Huaraches, make sure you opt for a pair in your true size (for me, that’s a US 9) as the model is made to fit like a glove.
Comfort: I usually don’t care about the comfort of my sneakers as, if they’re dope, I’ll wear them regardless; but Nike Air Huaraches are super comfortable thanks to the foot-hugging design and cloud-like Air cushioning of the shoe. In fact, they’re so comfortable (and flexible) that you can wear them on a run, or even to the gym. And who doesn’t like to look fly at the gym?
Care: After wearing my sneakers, I use a shoe cleaning solution to ensure they remain perennially box fresh. Even though the aged/dirty sneaker trend is popular right now, I will always aim to keep my sneakers looking brand new.

Do Nike Huaraches Run Small?
The biggest selling point of the Nike Huaraches is that they fit and fit well. It is composed of a neoprene bootie and exoskeletal upper that provide a snug feel and unbeatable balance. The lace-based customization would cause the shoes to wrap firmly around the feet. The Huaraches were a result of Nike FitAdapt technology that created shoes meant to hug the foot and stay in place.
This innovative technology allowed the consumer to have a vast array of personal choices when it came to shoes for different situations and environments. They first became popular in the ’90s. Since everything 90’s is getting popular again, let’s learn about the Huaraches.
What Kind Of Shoe Are Nike Huaraches?
It is a running shoe made by Nike. It was designed to stretch along with the wearer’s foot.
Why Are Nike Huaraches So Popular?
Some of that 90’s retro trend might have something to do with it. However, a lot of it has to do with what made the Huaraches popular, to begin with. According to Oliver Mak, co-founder of the sneaker shop Bodega, “Some silhouettes become the foundation for whole movements and new ways of designing sneakers. Huarache is one of them.”
When Did Nike Huaraches Come Out?
They made their big debut in 1991. The ads for it went “Have you hugged your foot today?”
Why Are Nike Huaraches Called Huaraches?
They were named after a type of Mexican sandal. The original huaraches predate Columbus and are made of woven leather. The Nike Huaraches bear little resemblance to such shoes. The inspiration seems to be from a rather violent sport played in ancient Mesoamerica that had some similarities to basketball.
Do Nike Huaraches Fit True To Size?
The fit is unusual. Some have compared it to the fit of a sock. Like many Nikes, they are somewhat on the small and narrow side. You may find them being half to a full size too small. Try ordering up one size but expect them to be a bit narrow.
Do Nike Huaraches Run Big Or Small?
They are a little on the small side.
Are Nike Huaraches Supposed To Be Tight?
They are meant to have a close fit. Some consumers believe the new Huaraches fit even closer than the original.
How Do You Size Nike Huaraches?
You could go up half a size and the fit will still be fairly snug. Go up a whole size if you like a loose fit. This may be a shoe that you need to try on in a brick and mortar store.
Do Nike Huaraches Stretch Out?
The sock element of the shoe means they should stretch but perhaps not “stretch out”.
How To Loosen Nike Huaraches?
If they fit just a little too tight, what you can do is put them on over a pair of thick socks and turn a hut blow drier on them. The old ziplock bag of frozen water trick might work.
How Do You Break In Nike Huaraches?
Just put them on and sit back. They’ll conform to your foot on their own. Maybe do a little bit of walking or jumping to get them broken in. It can take a while so just hang in there.
How Much Do Nike Huaraches Weigh?
They are rather light. An Air Huarache in a woman’s size seven weighs about 8.3 ounces. You read right, that’s ounces. They weigh about half a pound. The new Air Huarache Ultra is even lighter at 6.8 ounces in the same size. This update features lightweight foam tooling that has been cored out to make it feather-light.
How Comfortable Are Nike Huaraches?
It is a major factor that consumers like about Huaraches. Many users comment on how much they like the almost airy feel the shoes have and the stylish design.
What Are Nike Huaraches Used For?
While celebrated shoe designer Tinker Hatfield has used similar designs for running and basketball shoes, the Huaraches are ultimately a casual shoe to be worn with jeans in relaxed situations.
Are Nike Huaraches Running Shoes?
The Nike Air Huarache makes a tolerably good running shoe. They are very stable and comfortable. They do a great job of protecting the feet. However, they are lacking in breathability. The Ultra gets a few extra points for being lighter yet roomier. Still, as running shoes go, they’re good but not great.
Are Nike Huaraches Good For Gym?
Eh, on a scale of one to twenty-five, they rate a fourteen. They’re not the worst, but there are other, better Nike models out there. It’s practically custom fit but there’s more to be desired.
Are Nike Huaraches Good Basketball Shoes?
Not strictly speaking. It wasn’t designed with any specific sport in mind. In fact, Hatfield got the idea while waterskiing. (Not that you should waterski in these either!) You won’t be like Mike in these, but you can wear them to a game of Horse in the driveway.
What Are The Different Types Of Nike Huaraches?
Of all the different types of Nike Huaraches, your best bet is either Nike Air Huarache Ultra or Nike Air Huarache SD. The Nike Air Huarache Drift SE rates barely as decent, rather disappointing compared to others of this make.
And then there’s the Nike Air Huarache Gripp, a model so new there isn’t much that has been said about it. The design is certainly ambitious if a bit off the wall. (Frankly, it looks like the shoe is wearing a surgical mask.) Only time will tell if this oddball looking shoe gets results.
What Material Are Nike Huaraches Made Of?
The materials used to make the Huaraches include leather, textile, spandex, neoprene, and thermoplastic (TPU).
Are Nike Huaraches Waterproof?
While Nike does have several models of water-resistant shoes (and a few jackets just for fun) the Huaraches do not seem to be among them.
Are Nike Huaraches In Style?
As of now, they’re riding a wave of 90’s retro chic. Four years ago, a poll from The Tab voted them the ugliest sneakers ever. Ask again in a few months.
Are Nike Huaraches Unisex?
The Air Huarache Premium is unisex. Many models in this line come on both men’s and women’s sizes.
Do You Wear Socks With Nike Huaraches?
They practically are socks. You do not need to wear socks with them.
Are Nike Huaraches Good For Flat Feet?
These shoes feature a removable insole that can be replaced with custom-made orthotics. It is a lightweight shoe that even people with flat feet will find very comfortable.
Are Nike Huaraches Good For Standing All Day?
The Nike Air Huaraches Ultra are very comfortable and supremely lightweight making them good for standing for long periods of time.
Do Nike Huaraches Make You Taller?
The sole is fairly thick. You may look an inch to an inch and a half taller.
Can You Put Nike Huaraches In The Washing Machine?
Nike does not recommend that you put any of your footwear in the washing machine. Nor do they recommend that you use anything harsh like bleach either. They do recommend cleaning your shoes just as soon as they get dirty. Nike recommends following these steps to clean your sneakers.
- Use a dry brush. Remove the dirt from the outsole, midsole, and uppers utilizing a dry, soft-bristled shoe brush. It doesn’t have to be a professional shoe brush. An old toothbrush will work very well.
- Mix up a mild cleaning solution. Combine warm water and a little bit of laundry detergent.
- Wash the laces. Take out the laces and soak them in a small amount of this mild cleaning solution. Rub the laces until foamy, rinse them off, then dry them off with a soft cloth.
- Wash the soles. Apply the mild cleaning solution to a soft-bristled brush. Brush off the outsole and midsole. Dry them off with a soft cloth.
- Wash and blot. Use the mild cleaning solution and a soft-bristled brush or a soft cloth to clean up the uppers. You can then utilize a dry microfiber towel or a soft cloth to blot and lift away as much of the soapy moisture and dirt as you possibly can. Repeat as needed.
- Air dry. Allow your shoes to air dry at room temperature.
How Can You Tell If Nike Huaraches Are Fake?
Check out the logo on the heel cage. There should be an embossed Nike logo on the heel strap. The embossed letters should have somewhat rounded edges. Check out the laces. The laces should be of a high-quality weave.
The aglets should have a tight and clear cap. Make sure the correct typeface font is used on the lettering. The soft sockliners should have a molded shape that fits the curve of the foot. Know who you’re buying from. If the price is way lower than it should be, it is almost certainly counterfeit.
How Long Do Nike Huaraches Last?
Nike Huaraches are quite durable. If they are well kept and used appropriately in the right conditions a pair of Nike Huaraches could last anywhere from two hundred to three hundred miles.
So to wrap it up, are Nike Huaraches worth it? They are very comfortable if you like a snug-fitting shoe that is a little on the narrow side. (Some people have very slender feet.) The construction is lightweight, so they will be comfortable enough to use for a long stretch of time.
They are breathable shoes that your feet will not overheat in. It does have a nostalgia value and as Nikes go, they are rather reasonably priced. If this is what you want in a casual shoe, the Huaraches are worth it.
The Huaraches were designed to have a snug, close fit comparable to socks. If you don’t like your fit to be too tight you can order a size or half a size bigger than you usually get.

How to choose the right size?
It is best to orient yourself by the length of the insole of your shoes (do not try to measure it yourself, because it almost never turns out correctly). It is enough to look at the size of any of your shoes indicated in CM. Then find the insole length of your shoes in the table to select the appropriate US size. For example, Vans shoe models have a 25 cm insole that corresponds to a US size 7. Other brands may have the same length as a different US size due to different labeling.Attention! Adidas shoes are numbered differently from other brands. When choosing adidas shoes, we recommend that you orient yourself according to European sizes, and not according to the length of the insole. For example, if you usually wear EUR 38, we recommend ordering that size.

How to Choose Nike Sneaker Size
The topic is important.Especially for sneakerheads who are constantly chasing new Nike releases. We select the correct size.
Very often the customers of our store ask about the differences in the dimensional nets of the shoe brands. When ordering in the online store and by phone, the question is often asked: “How to choose the right size for Nike sneakers?” We decided to approach this issue systematically and tell about each brand separately, since all companies have their own characteristics and differences. This is what prompted a whole series of materials on an incredibly important topic.
It is no exaggeration to say that Nike sports shoes occupy a leading position in Russia along with the “popular” Adidas and their “three stripes”. Anyone who is more or less familiar with street fashion knows how much the Nike Air Max sneakers fell in love with young people in the 2000s. Thanks to the company’s technologists who have made a truly versatile shoe in which the foot always feels comfortable, does not get tired during prolonged wear, and a variety of colors and materials continues to delight sneakerheads all over the world. In our country, love for Nike has taken on a special form. With the development and popularization of social networks, including VKontakte, some sneaker models began to be extolled into a cult, because the maximum reach of a potential audience was finally obtained. In addition to Airmax, models such as Dunk High, Air Force 1, Air Huarache, Cortez, Air Max 95, Roshe, MAG have become iconic in their own way.
Nike and Pop Culture
Each Nike model, in varying degrees, owes its success to the notorious pop culture.Over the past 30 years, the company has approached marketing wisely, following the newfangled trends in show business and the film industry. One such example is the tragicomedy Forrest Gump, 1994 by director Robert Zemeckis. In this film, the main character of Tom Hanks runs in the famous scene “Run Forrest Run” in the Nike Cortez sneaker. It’s funny, but the name Zemeckis and Nike overlapped before.
In the legendary Back to the Future directed by the Zemeckis brothers, the main character Marty McFly rides a Nike Bruin. Classic white sneakers with a laconic design will be remembered by viewers around the world for a long time.
In addition to regular shoes, the second part of the famous trilogy includes sneakers from the future, now known as Nike MAG. For the first time in history, Nike designers have developed a unique sneaker with an automatic lace-up system specifically for the film.
With the release of two small batch of sneakers for collectors and film fans in 2008 and 2011, Nike officially confirmed in 2015 that they are preparing to release the Nike MAG next year. And if the first versions were without a special lacing system, then in the near future the brand’s experts promise an exact replica of Nike MAG, which themselves lace up! Until now, the exact release date has not been announced.
Other Nike models also appeared on TV screens during the 1990s and 2000s. Along with the flourishing of rap and hip-hop culture, the interest of young people in comfortable and beautiful sports shoes grew. Music video heroes, MTV generation, they all wore Nike. Historically, the culture of hip hop music reflected the hard life of black guys from the ghetto, it was considered the music of the streets.Gradually, comfortable sneakers, including Nike, combined with loose pants, flooded the streets of America and then the whole world.
Nike Sneakers Size Chart
It is very important to remember that size nets of different manufacturers such as Nike, Reebok, Adidas, Puma, etc. have slight differences. Do not confuse the US and UK measurement systems, they are completely different sizes.
After receiving the measurement result, be sure to round up the result in centimeters.
Dimensional grid of men’s, women’s and children’s shoes Nike
Nike shoe size nets are not particularly original, but they have their own specific features. There are four types of Nike sneaker sizes. These are men’s standard, women’s, teenage (or school), as well as sneakers for the little ones – for children.
Nike men’s sizing line starts at US 6, which is 23.7 centimeters. As you can see, 24 is indicated in the value of CM (centimeters), that is, the company is already rounding the figure up for you.The maximum size of Nike sneakers is marked US 18, which is a foot length of 33.9 centimeters, but on the CM value we see already 36. Where the extra 2 centimeters came from is not very clear.
Nike Women’s Sizing Guide starts at US 5, which is 22 centimeters long. In turn, the maximum value for a lady is US 12, that is, 27.9 centimeters. Again, we see a 2 centimeters discrepancy towards the end of the grid, if we look at the value of the “CM” tag.
Nike Youth (or High School) Sizing Guide starts at US 1Y. Teenage sizes end at US 7Y, which corresponds to a foot length of 24.5 centimeters. It can be noted that in this case the discrepancy between the “CM” value and the real length of the foot is minimal – 0.5 centimeters.
Finally, the Nike Kids’ Sizing Guide for the smallest starts at US 0C, which is an actual 7. 6 centimeters in length. Unusually, in this type of dimension, the “CM” value is lower than the actual value, but this is only at the beginning of the mesh. The largest size is US 13.5C and represents a foot length of 19.1 centimeters. It is interesting that in this table the most accurate ratio of the “CM” values is 19.5 with the real length.
How to choose my Nike size?
Nike recommends using the proven method of measuring the foot. It looks like it is one of the most accurate and will definitely determine the size of your foot. The official website of the brand describes in detail how to find out the size of the sneakers.
Nike experts advise to measure the length of the foot in the socks in which you plan to walk in your sneakers. In addition, metering is best done in the evening or afternoon. Usually, the legs swell a little after a working day in shoes.
First, lay the piece of paper on a hard surface with one side of the paper aligned and leaning against the wall. After that, you need to secure the sheet of paper to the floor. Then stand up straight with your foot so that your heel rests against the wall.
Secondly, it is recommended to ask someone who will be nearby to make a mark on the paper that marks the most prominent point of the foot.It is the distance to the mark that will be your foot length. If no one is around, you can do it yourself. Remember to measure the same for the other foot, as the arcs may differ from each other. In this case, the shoes are matched to the foot with the highest measurement rates. But many people simply buy 2 pairs of sneakers of different sizes so that each foot is as comfortable as possible.
And third, the last point: getting results. It is required to measure with a ruler or any other measuring instrument the distance from the beginning of the sheet of paper to the mark. This must be done twice, for each foot.
This way you will know exactly your foot size in centimeters and can easily determine which Nike sneakers you need to buy. Now it is not difficult to find the resulting number in the Nike sizing chart, and by comparing the numbers, you will know your size. It is important to remember that the resulting foot length in centimeters will be slightly less than the so-called Recommended Length (CM), which is indicated on the label of the sneaker, due to the materials used to make the shoe. One more thing – most sneaker manufacturers recommend taking shoes half a size larger. This is due to the fact that with age, a person’s foot can increase, and the size that was purchased a couple of years ago is no longer so comfortable when walking. For the same reason, the foot measurement described above should be taken at least once every 2-3 years. The general scheme for the selection of the size of sneakers is presented in our material http://brandshop-ru.livejournal.com/23582.html
