March Madness 2021 scores, results, highlights from Sunday’s Round 2 NCAA Tournament games
Here it is, college basketball fans. March Madness is back.
It seems all the more precious this time around after COVID-19 forced the 2020 NCAA Tournament to be canceled — and made the 2020-21 season precarious, at best. But we’re finally here, and the payoff is a full slate of games: our first taste of March Madness since 2019.
Sunday’s action tips off at 12:10 p.m. ET with 8-seed Loyola Chicago taking on 1-seed Illinois. The last game, likely, will be between 12-seed Oregon State and 4-seed Oklahoma State. And there’s so much basketball to be enjoyed in between.

So fill out your brackets, pick your Cinderella players, sit back and relax. There’s basketball to watch. Here’s everything you need to keep up with the first NCAA Tournament action in nearly two years, including times, scores, highlights and more:

Average March Madness Final Score, Based on Past Tournament Finals
- March Madness brackets require a score prediction for the championship game of the tournament.
- We determined the average score of the final games over the past 30 years by calculating the average combined scores of the two teams, the average individual score, and the average winning margin.
- The math is imperfect, but we found the average score to be 76-67.
- See more stories on Insider’s business page.
No one has ever gotten a perfect March Madness bracket.
But all brackets, in the event of a tie, require a score prediction in the final game of the NCAA Tournament as a tiebreaker. Even if two people tie in a pool with imperfect brackets, the final score could decide who wins the pool.
Predicting a score can be tricky, and plenty of people like to go off past examples as a framework.
We tracked the scores of every March Madness final going back to 1990 to find the most common result. We averaged the total combined scores of the two teams, the average individual score, and the average winning margin.
The average total score was 143.6, meaning the average individual score was 71.8 for both of the final teams. The average winning margin was 8.9 points. We rounded all of these numbers up — 144, 72, 9.
Therefore, the average score of the final games over the past 30 years has been approximately 77-68.
It’s not a perfect formula, but 77-89 is a safe bet to make.
It’s also worth noting, however, what went into those numbers.
For instance, averages are affected by outliers. In 1990, UNLV beat Duke 103-73, the largest disparity over the past 29 years. The final game in the NCAA Tournament has been decided by 10 or more points only nine other times.
Could this year be different? With a reduced number of fans and all of the games taking place in Indianapolis, perhaps offense will be up this year? It’s worth noting that in the last decade the final combined scores have exceeded 144 only three times.
How likely is the final-score prediction to factor in a bracket pool? Not very. But every pick matters. Nailing the final score could be the difference-maker for some lucky player’s bracket.

90,000 NCAA March Madness Live Promotes Our Windows Phones Sweet 16We mentioned the NCAA March Madness Live Windows Phone app earlier. This is the official Windows Phone app for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament that brings statistics, news, scores and live streams of all tournament games to your Windows Phone.
Last week we were finally able to test the Windows Phone app. Tournament games kicked off last Thursday and we are very pleased with the March Madness Live performance.
While other sports apps for our Windows Phone will provide similar stats, news and win information, where NCAA March Madness Live stands out from the crowd is a live stream of all tournament games.
It was such a joy to keep watching the games in progress while waiting on the Autobahn Thursday and Friday afternoon. I suspect this feature has come in handy for a lot of people stuck in the office on Thursday and Friday. It was also nice to check out the game during the weekend dinner. This continued until my wife caught me and gave me a look that threatened celibacy.
The streaming was smooth, and although I had a few pauses in filing, this could easily have been the result of poor data reception in my region and not an accusation against the application.I liked how, during the ad, a link appeared in the bottom corner of the screen so that you could go to the product page.
It was also a plus to be able to view all intermediate and intermediate game comments from CBS Studios.
Overall, I was pretty happy with NCAA March Madness Live and hope it becomes the main app in the Windows Phone Store. I just wish my braces were in order (the loss of Duke ruined this for me).
NCAA March Madness Live is a free app that is available for both Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 devices (including low memory Windows phones). You can find the Windows Phone 8 version of NCAA March Madness Live here in the Windows Phone Store. You can find the Windows 8 version here in the Windows Store.

What physical parameters do bowling players need? What does an ideal bowler look like?
– It is impossible to accurately answer this question. This is a sport for everyone. There are no age restrictions and such physical activity as in other sports. You can become successful people with any physique. In bowling, it’s all about throwing technique. Another important point is endurance and willpower. In competitions we can play all day with very short breaks. It is very exhausting, morally difficult. At such moments, you need to pull yourself together and tune in to the game. Psychology plays a huge role.
Are there any injuries in bowling? What are the most common injuries?
– Undoubtedly, there are. Depending on which hand you play (right or left), that will be injured.Usually this is a stretching of the hand, forearm muscles. They don’t come up often. For all the time that I play professionally, this has happened a couple of times. A very unpleasant situation happened before the first youth world championship, when during training I made an unsuccessful throw and, despite the fact that we knead the wrist joint well, I pulled my hand strongly. The competition was very difficult. Such injuries take a long time to heal. These are mainly sprains, but there are other incidents as well. For example, I accidentally dropped a ball on my head, flew out almost a third of the track. But some kind of severe injuries, such as fractures, usually do not happen here.

– Ball weight plays a very important role in bowling. The larger it is, the better it hits the pins and the more likely it is to make a good throw. Women play with lighter balls that have less penetration. Men, on the other hand, disperse heavy balls at great speed. Therefore, the results in the men’s competition are higher than in the women’s.But we don’t always play separately. There are various commercial tournaments where there are no gender and age divisions. On them, a woman may well beat a man.
What kind of equipment do bowling players have? How many balls do athletes take with them to the competition?
– Every pro should have their own arsenal of balls. For any situation, there must be a specific ball. Somewhere you need to straighten the throw, somewhere less roll, somewhere more. I usually take six balls to the competition. Each player has a finishing ball, with which he finishes a combination of pins, and there are reactive balls for the first throw. There are no particular problems with the transportation of the balloons. Only the airport workers have questions: “What kind of incomprehensible round things do you have in your bags?”
I definitely take a whole set of soles for every competition, since the surface of the tracks is different: somewhere it is more slippery, somewhere less. In order to make a good throw, not to stick or accidentally fly onto the track during the throw, you need to monitor your feelings of sliding. If anything, change the soles.
Photo: © Ola Westerberg / ZUMA Press / Global Look PressI also carry a special purse with me, which contains various accessories, including tapes. During the game, the thumb may swell or, conversely, become smaller. Since all the balls are drilled specifically for our hand, even a small swelling of the thumb greatly affects the game. The ball becomes harder to hold and release. Tapes help in such cases.
How strong are bowling balls and lanes? Can they be broken?
– When we perform a throw, the ball can accelerate to 22-30 kilometers per hour.Accordingly, he hits the pins incredibly hard, but at the same time it practically does not scratch. During the game, nothing usually happens to him. Rather, chips may appear as it passes through the engine room and returns to the player under the track. This is totally normal. But it happens that when the ball lies in the inventory for a very long time and you do not use it, it can simply crack in half for some unknown reason.
Theoretically, one ball can be played throughout a career, but this is not entirely reasonable. They absorb very well the oil with which they cover the tracks. Therefore, new balls will hit the pins better. Usually, before some major competitions, I update my inventory every two or three years.
The tracks are very strong. Never in my life have I seen them bend or break under a ball. But if you take amateur bowling, where there are situations when healthy men take light balls and throw them with all their might, then, naturally, the lanes can break and become unusable.
Do players only roll balls in training?
– Contrary to stereotypes, we don’t just come, take the ball, get on the track and start rolling and rolling. A very important aspect is the formulation of the throwing technique. It takes months for novice players to practice without a ball. For example, in every workout I devote some time to imitating a throw. The coach looks, corrects the flaws. This is necessary because in competitions in stressful situations, muscle memory can fail, previously acquired memory is forgotten.
Photo: © Jay LaPrete / NCAA Photos / Contributor / NCAA Photos / Gettyimages.ruAre bowling center conditions different?
– Bowling is never monotonous. All tracks are oiled with special machines. Each competition has its own oil program. There are a huge number of these programs: they can be drier, they can be more fatty. Coming to the competition, we do not know which butter program is smeared. That is why we carry so many balloons with us for all occasions. Before the competition, the organizers set aside a day for official practice, when athletes go out on the tracks and get used to the lighting, to the tracks themselves, study the oil program, try to figure out how to play and which balls to use.
Is there a dirty bowling game? Is it okay to shout to an opponent under the arm?
– Maybe it doesn’t seem to be from the outside, but in bowling there are many emotional and expressive athletes who can psychologically put pressure on you on the lanes.Since we play on the same pair of tracks in the finals, we are very close to each other. We are not forbidden to talk to each other. Therefore, it happens that the enemy starts some kind of psychological games. For example, if you made a bad shot, then some people are openly happy about it. One must be able to abstract from this. Can they shout sharply under the arm during the throw? No. This is prohibited by the rules. For this, the judge may disqualify.
Photo: © Ola Westerberg / ZUMA Press / Global Look PressWho is the bowling leader? How is Russia doing?
– The answer about the leader is unambiguous – bowling is best developed in the USA.The most important bowling competitions are held there. If we talk about Europe, we can single out the Swedes and Finns. They are still a cut above us. Despite this, we still continue to show fairly good results in competitions, especially our youth team.
How do other people react to your activity? Do you play with friends outside of the bowling world?
– When meeting me, the information that I am a professional bowling alley arouses indignation. For Russia, this is an exotic sport, not very common. More often than not, people look at it not as a sport, but as a way to have fun and have a good time. They ask me a lot of ridiculous questions, such as: “Do you always hit strikes?”, “How do you wave such balls? They’re heavy! ”
I never mind bowling with my friends if they want to. But in most cases it is an unequal fight. Therefore, I try to refrain from playing with people who are not particularly devoted to bowling.Since we do not have separate sports bowling centers in Russia, different people may be on the adjacent lanes. I am often offered to play for money, but I never agree, realizing my advantage.
