Why are bike gloves essential for children’s cycling safety. How do different types of gloves cater to various riding styles and age groups. What features should parents consider when choosing bike gloves for kids. Which materials offer the best protection and comfort for young riders.
Understanding the Importance of Kids’ Bike Gloves
Bike gloves play a crucial role in enhancing the cycling experience for children. They serve multiple purposes, from improving grip and comfort to providing essential protection in case of falls. As parents, understanding the significance of these gloves can help ensure your child’s safety and enjoyment while riding.
Key Benefits of Kids’ Bike Gloves
- Enhanced grip on handlebars
- Protection against blisters and calluses
- Shock absorption for a more comfortable ride
- Safeguarding hands during falls or accidents
- Temperature regulation in various weather conditions
Are bike gloves really necessary for children? While not mandatory, they significantly improve safety and comfort. Gloves act as a barrier between delicate skin and rough surfaces, reducing the risk of abrasions and providing cushioning against vibrations.
Types of Kids’ Bike Gloves: Full-Finger vs. Half-Finger
When selecting bike gloves for children, parents often face the choice between full-finger and half-finger designs. Each type has its advantages, catering to different riding styles and weather conditions.
Full-Finger Gloves
Full-finger gloves offer comprehensive protection, covering the entire hand and fingers. They are ideal for:
- Mountain biking or off-road cycling
- Colder weather conditions
- Children prone to falls or accidents
Half-Finger Gloves
Half-finger gloves, also known as fingerless gloves, provide protection to the palm while leaving fingertips exposed. They are suitable for:
- Road cycling or casual riding
- Warmer weather
- Children who prefer more dexterity
Which type of glove is best for your child? Consider their riding style, climate, and personal preference. For versatility, some parents opt for both types to accommodate different situations.
Essential Features to Look for in Kids’ Bike Gloves
Selecting the right pair of bike gloves involves considering various features that contribute to comfort, protection, and functionality. Here are key aspects to keep in mind:
Padding and Protection
Adequate padding in the palm area is crucial for absorbing vibrations and preventing discomfort during long rides. Look for gloves with strategically placed gel or foam inserts that protect pressure points.
Breathability and Moisture-Wicking
Breathable materials help keep hands cool and dry, preventing sweat buildup and reducing the risk of blisters. Moisture-wicking fabrics draw sweat away from the skin, enhancing comfort during intense rides.
Adjustable Closure
A secure fit is essential for optimal protection and comfort. Velcro straps or adjustable closures allow for a customized fit, accommodating growing hands and ensuring gloves stay in place during rides.
Reflective Elements
For added safety during low-light conditions, consider gloves with reflective accents. These enhance visibility, making it easier for motorists and other cyclists to spot your child.
Material Matters: Choosing the Right Fabric for Kids’ Bike Gloves
The material of bike gloves significantly impacts their performance, durability, and comfort. Different fabrics offer varying benefits, catering to specific needs and preferences.
Common Materials Used in Kids’ Bike Gloves
- Synthetic leather: Durable and water-resistant
- Mesh: Highly breathable and lightweight
- Lycra: Stretchy and form-fitting
- Neoprene: Insulating and water-resistant
- Terry cloth: Soft and absorbent, often used for thumb panels
How do these materials affect glove performance? Synthetic leather provides excellent durability and grip, while mesh and Lycra offer superior breathability. Neoprene is ideal for colder conditions, and terry cloth helps wipe away sweat during rides.
Sizing Guide: Ensuring the Perfect Fit for Kids’ Bike Gloves
Proper sizing is crucial for bike gloves to function effectively. Ill-fitting gloves can compromise grip, comfort, and protection. Follow these steps to find the right size for your child:
- Measure hand circumference: Wrap a measuring tape around the widest part of the hand, excluding the thumb.
- Measure hand length: Measure from the wrist crease to the tip of the middle finger.
- Consult size charts: Compare measurements to the manufacturer’s size chart.
- Consider growth room: Allow for some extra space to accommodate growth, but avoid overly loose gloves.
Should you size up for kids’ bike gloves? While it’s tempting to buy larger sizes for longevity, excessively loose gloves can hinder performance and safety. Aim for a snug but comfortable fit with minimal excess material.
Maintaining and Caring for Kids’ Bike Gloves
Proper care and maintenance of bike gloves can significantly extend their lifespan and preserve their protective qualities. Follow these tips to keep your child’s gloves in top condition:
Cleaning Instructions
- Check the care label for specific instructions
- Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent
- Avoid machine washing, which can damage padding and closures
- Air dry away from direct heat sources
- Avoid using fabric softeners, which can degrade materials
Storage Tips
Store gloves in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid crumpling or folding them, which can damage padding and affect their shape. Consider using a glove tree or stuffing them with tissue paper to maintain their form.
How often should kids’ bike gloves be replaced? The lifespan of gloves depends on frequency of use and care. Generally, replace gloves when you notice significant wear, torn seams, or diminished padding effectiveness.
Top Brands and Recommendations for Kids’ Bike Gloves
When it comes to selecting bike gloves for children, several brands stand out for their quality, durability, and child-friendly designs. Here are some top picks across different categories:
Best Overall: Giro DND Jr. II Youth Bike Gloves
These full-finger gloves offer excellent protection and comfort, featuring breathable mesh backs and synthetic leather palms. The simple slip-on design makes them easy for kids to use independently.
Best for Mountain Biking: Fox Racing Youth Dirtpaw Gloves
Designed for young off-road enthusiasts, these gloves provide superior protection with padded knuckles and reinforced palm areas. The hook-and-loop closure ensures a secure fit during intense rides.
Best Budget Option: ZippyRooz Toddler & Little Kids Bike Gloves
Offering great value for money, these half-finger gloves feature a fun design and comfortable padding. They’re perfect for casual riders and come in a variety of colorful patterns.
Best for Cold Weather: Louis Garneau Kids’ Warm & Dry Gloves
These insulated gloves keep little hands warm in chilly conditions without sacrificing dexterity. The waterproof outer layer adds extra protection against the elements.
What factors should parents consider when choosing a brand? Look for reputable companies with positive customer reviews, focusing on durability, comfort, and size accuracy. Consider your child’s specific needs and riding style when making a selection.
Integrating Bike Gloves into a Comprehensive Safety Approach
While bike gloves are an important safety accessory, they should be part of a broader approach to cycling safety for children. Here’s how to incorporate gloves into a comprehensive safety strategy:
Essential Safety Gear
- Properly fitted helmet
- Reflective clothing or accessories
- Knee and elbow pads for beginners or off-road riding
- Bike lights for low-light conditions
Safety Education
Teach children about road safety, proper signaling, and the importance of following traffic rules. Encourage them to practice safe riding habits consistently, emphasizing the role of protective gear in preventing injuries.
Regular Bike Maintenance
Ensure your child’s bike is in good working condition by regularly checking brakes, tires, and other components. A well-maintained bike contributes significantly to overall safety.
How do bike gloves complement other safety measures? Gloves provide targeted protection for hands, which are often the first point of contact in falls. They work in tandem with other safety gear to offer comprehensive protection during rides.
In conclusion, kids’ bike gloves are an essential component of cycling safety and comfort. By understanding the types, features, and proper care of these gloves, parents can make informed decisions to enhance their children’s riding experience. Remember that while gloves offer valuable protection, they should be part of a broader approach to cycling safety, including proper education and equipment maintenance. With the right gloves and safety practices, young cyclists can enjoy their rides with confidence and peace of mind.

14 Best Kids Bike Gloves (Full/Half Finger)
Kids bike gloves serve different purposes depending on a child’s age and riding environment. From helping to maintain grip, providing comfortable padding on the palms, as well as being the first line of defense during a fall, no matter what your child’s age, bike gloves can improve their riding experience.
Cycling gloves also come in a wide range of designs and styles. Which pair of gloves is best for your child will be determined by their riding ability and how they will be using them. Is your child just getting started on a balance bike? Are they an experienced pedal bike rider? Are they tackling mountain trails? We’ve tested gloves for all these scenarios!
The Best Biking Gloves for Kids
Half-finger or full-finger kids bike gloves?
For little toddler and preschool fingers, we almost always prefer half-finger because they’re easier to get on and tend to be less sweaty! Since little ones often fall on the palms of their hands, half-finger gloves still offer much-needed protection during a fall. During colder months, however, the added warmth of full-fingered gloves is worth the hassle of getting all those wiggly fingers into the right finger holes.
For older riders, half-finger or full-finger is usually a personal preference. Half fingers are easier to get on and off, but full fingers offer additional grip for the entire hand as well as added finger-tip grip for pulling brake levers.
How Does Glove Sizing Work?
In our experience, each brand sizes their gloves differently. Our stated age ranges are to provide a general idea of sizing ranges, but you should always check the manufacturer’s sizing chart before purchase.
Gloves are sized based on two measurements – the length of the hand at the tip of the middle finger, and the circumference of the hand around the knuckles. Those measurements may mean an XS in one brand, but a Medium in another.
Our Favorite Bike Gloves for Kids of All Ages
Zippyrooz Kids Bike Gloves
Easy on and off finger loops
MSRP: $14
SIZES AVAILABLE: 4 sizes, small (age 1 -2), medium (3 -4), large (5 -6) and x-large (7 -8)
FULL REVIEW: Zippyrooz Gloves
With ample padding along the base of the palm, a soft and absorbent nose wipe, and super-easy pull loops at the end of fingers, Zippyrooz gloves are perfect for the smallest riders! The half-finger kids bike gloves feature more padding than the full-finger gloves, making them ideal for balance bike riders who tend to fall (often!) hands first.
Half-finger gloves are also much easier to get on, which is a huge win for fidgety kids. And as far as getting them off? With sewn in finger-loops on the palm of each glove, our testers quickly, easily, and independently were able to remove their gloves. Top it off with a nose wipe pad for snotty noses, and we’re officially in love with Zippyrooz.
PROS:
- With sewn-in finger-loops on the palm of each glove, kids can easily remove gloves on their own
- Top fabric is breathable and stretchy
- Pad palms are soft and pliable
- Nose wipe pad!
- Available in full-finger or half-finger
- Adorable designs for boys and girls
- Great price
Strider Bike Gloves
Stretchy Material for Growth
MSRP: $25
SIZES AVAILABLE: Small (ages 1 to 3), Large (ages 4 to 6)
For those littlest groms who want the look of big-kid gloves, Strider’s gloves are the perfect match. Skipping on the colorful cuteness factor, Strider’s gloves are the only gloves to offer a “big-kid” look in gloves small enough to fit the tiniest of toddlers. In addition to a great fit, Strider’s gloves feature a wide Velcro opening for easy on and off’s.
Perfectly proportioned to fit the smallest hands, Strider’s toddler and kids bike gloves are available in two different sizes (SM and LG) and styles (full and half-fingered). The small is only available in half-fingered and best fit ages 1 to 3. The large is available in full and half-fingered styles and is suitable for ages 4 to 6.
For additional protection, Strider also offers a quality pad set that is designed specifically to fit toddlers and pre-schoolers. A small and a large set of pads can be used as elbow and knee pads for pre-schoolers. For toddlers and smaller kids, the smaller set of pads can actually be used as knee pads first, and then as elbow pads as children grow bigger.
PROS:
- Comfortably fit the smallest riders (a rare feature!)
- Velcro opening for easy on and off
- Available in half-finger or full-finger
- Big-kid styling
CONS:
- Only available in white
- Palm doesn’t have much padding to cushion falls
Louis Garneau Kids Gloves
Top Notch Construction
MSRP: $17
SIZES AVAILABLE: Ages are approximations, be sure to measure your child’s hand and check it against their sizing chart in listing.
A true mini-size version of adult biking gloves, the Louis Garneau kids bike gloves are built with soft and durable materials that are sure to last through years of use. With multiple padding pockets throughout the palm, a lightweight and breathable stretchy layer up top, and a thick nose wipe area around the thumb, the gloves are functional and practical for the littlest of riders.

Both the child and youth gloves are available in multiple sizes, so be sure to measure your child’s hand to ensure a proper fit. Sizing charts are available on Louis Garneau’s direct listings (child gloves, youth gloves). Their gloves also tend to run a bit small, so when in doubt, be sure to order up a size.
PROS:
- Made with durable soft material
- Available in a wide variety of sizes
- Thick nose wipe pad on thumb
- Several padded sections along the palm
Simply Kids Gloves
Cute Designs and Matching Knee Pads
MSRP: $14
SIZES AVAILABLE: Small (ages 1 to 3), Medium (ages 4 to 8), Large (ages 8 to 11)
The Simply Kids bike gloves are very similar to our favorite Zippyrooz gloves, but aren’t quite as durably constructed. That said, they’ve held up well for our testers, and we found them almost as easy to get on and off.
If you’re trying to decided between Zippyrooz and Simply Kids, it will probably come down to which fun graphics your little one prefers. A unique benefit to Simply Kids is that most of their glove designs have matching elbow and knee pads. If you’re all about the matchy-matchy, Simply Kids delivers!
PROS:
- Comfortably fit small riders
- Velcro opening and super stretchy spandex makes getting them on and off easier than most
- Some designs available with matching knee pads
CONS:
- Only available in half finger
- No finger loops like competitors
Giro Bravo Jr.

For serious little cyclists who want high-quality, half-finger gloves, the Giro Bravo Jr. is a soft, durable, and comfortable choice. With extended padding on the palm as well as the base of the thumb, the Bravo Jr. helps to reduce impact without being too bulky to compromise grip.

PROS:
- Synthetic leather palm is soft and pliable

CONS:
- Thicker inner seams can be “itchy” for some kids
woom TENS Cycling Gloves
Lightweight and breathable FULL finger
MSRP: $19
SIZES AVAILABLE: 3 sizes – 5, 6 and 7 (see woom’s size chart)
As the least bulky gloves on our list, our testers loved how light WOOM gloves felt. The gloves feature minimal padding for better hand dexterity, but extra padding where kids need it most – between the thumb and first finger, and on the outer edge of the palm that rests most heavily on the handlebar grip.
The perfect gloves for daily use, the woom TENS provide just enough padding and grip to prevent hand fatigue, without being too hot and bulky, and are available in 5 different colors.
PROS:
- Comfortable, stretchy lycra material
- Faux leather interior has no stitching for best comfort
- Stretchy material provides a snug fit without the need for velcro
- Silicon print on palms provides extra grip
- Soft, thicker thumb area can be used to wipe dripping noses or sweaty foreheads
- Available in 5 colors
CONS:
- Only available in full-finger
- Small opening can make getting them on and off more difficult for the smallest riders
Zippyrooz Full Finger
Wide opening for easy on and off
MSRP: $19
SIZES AVAILABLE: 4 sizes, small (age 1 -2), medium (3 -4), large (5 -6) and x-large (7 -8)
FULL REVIEW: Zippyrooz Gloves
Everything we love about the Zippyrooz half-finger, but with the added protection of full-finger! If you have a tiny grom on your hands, Zippyrooz is your best full-finger option for breathable trail riding gloves.
There are very few full-finger kids bike gloves made for 2 to 4-year-olds. While most kids that young don’t need full-finger gloves, advanced and aggressive riders who are already tackling trails will certainly benefit from full-finger protection.
PROS:
- Top fabric is breathable and stretchy
- Easier to get on and off than most full-finger gloves for toddler and young kids
- Pad palms are soft and pliable
- Nose wipe pad!
- Fun and funky prints for boys and girls
CONS:
- Light padding on palm doesn’t offer a lot of cushioning
Mac Ride Kids Gloves
Durable and Grippy
MSRP: $23
SIZES AVAILABLE: S (age 1-2), M (2-3), L (4-6)
It’s hard to find really well-designed gloves for tiny riders – but Mac Ride has hit the jackpot. With soft, high-quality fabrics and stitching, these tiny gloves ooze quality. Designed to flex and stretch as needed, our little testers loved wearing these gloves.
While their excellent quality certainly helps these gloves stand out from the pack, we especially love the gel-like cushioned palm. It’s fun to push, but more importantly, it provides superior grip and shock absorption. ?
The Mac Ride gloves are lined for warmth, but are still breathable. While they would be less ideal for long rides in summer, they are a perfect choice for fall through spring.
- High-quality, durable fabric and construction
- 4-way stretchy fabric is soft and won’t restrict movement
- Uber padded and grippy palm for best shock absorption and grip
- Cloth thumb for wiping snotty noses!
- Lined for keeping hands warm on cool rides
- Available in tiny sizes!
- Only available in one color
- Pretty hard to get on toddlers who can’t help you find the right finger holes
Tasco Ridgeline Youth
Extra Ventilation on Finger Sides
MSRP: $30
SIZES AVAILABLE: XSS, XS S, M, L; approximately ages 2 – 9
If you have a budding little mountain biker on your hands, Tasco Ridgeline Youth gloves are some of the smallest and most functional full-finger gloves on the market. Like other favorites on this list, the upper is stretchy, the thumb has a nose/sweat wipe, and the thumb and forefinger have added grip for safe braking.
So what makes the Tasco Ridgeline gloves stand out? The sides of the fingers are made of stretchy mesh, allowing for superior finger ventilation. While the palms don’t offer any padding, we often prefer this for small riders who may have difficulty grabbing the grips with bulky gloves.
PROS:
- Mesh venting on finger sides
- Comfortable, stretchy upper
- Micro-fiber nose/sweat wipe on thumb
- Added grip on thumb and forefinger for safe braking
- Mountain-bike styling
CONS:
- Doesn’t have a Velcro opening which makes it easier to get gloves on and off small kids
Giro DND Jr. Kids Bike Gloves
Soft and Durable Palm
MSRP: $20
SIZES AVAILABLE: XS, S, M, L; approximately ages 4 – 9
For experienced riders who want a miniature version of an adult glove, look no further than the Giro DND Jr. The DND gloves are designed for the more aggressive rider who needs extra gripping power and protection while shifting, braking, or simply holding on!
The DND gloves are breathable, stretchy, and moisture-wicking for increased comfort that our young testers really appreciated. There’s also a small pad at the base of the palm beneath the pinky, which is a common impact point for falls.
PROS:
- Synthetic leather palm is soft and pliable
- Moisture-wicking, 4-way stretch, breathable mesh upper is comfortable and more durable than other brands
- Velcro closure for easy on and offs
- Absorbent terry cloth wipe on the thumb for runny noses
- Tab on bottom of palm to help pull gloves down
CONS:
- Thicker inner seams can be “itchy” for some kids

MSRP: $24
SIZES AVAILABLE: 5 sizes (XS to XL)
With 5 different youth sizes available, it’s easy to get a great fit with the Troy Lee Youth Air mountain bike gloves. 2-way stretch spandex on top and a perforated synthetic leather palm allows these Air gloves to flex effortlessly with your kids’ hands and also provide plenty of ventilation. Giro La DND/Giro DND
Best for Tweens
MSRP: $24
SIZES AVAILABLE: A total of 10 different sizes of the La DND (women’s) and the DND (men’s). The men’s XS is the smallest size available and can fit most 9 or 10-year-olds.
The adult version of the Giro DND Jr. that we love for kids, these gloves are a great option for tweens who have outgrown traditional kids sizing. Our tall 11-year-old is already rocking the size women large in these gloves! Between the women’s and men’s versions, there are plenty of colors and patterns available for girls and boys.
Our tween tester loves the soft suede palm, and the large terry cloth area to wipe sweat (and snot!) off her face. The open flex points on the knuckles are a nice touch for extra comfort, and the pull tab at the bottom makes them extra easy to pull on.
At just $24, these gloves are great quality and a serious bang for your buck.
PROS:
- Soft suede palm, 4-way flex, and knuckle flex points for overall comfort
- Large terry cloth area for wiping sweat and snot
- Unique sizing perfect for tweens
- Great quality for a great price
- Tab on bottom of palm to help pull gloves down
CONS:
- Inner seams can be irritating (but not overly so!)
woom Winter Cycling Gloves
Extra warmth for fall and spring riding
MSRP: $19
SIZES AVAILABLE: 3 sizes – 5, 6 and 7 (see woom’s size chart)
If you live in Alaska, Alberta, or Nebraska, you probably have bike mitts to get you through your fat bike snow adventures. But if you live in a place with a bit more mild winters, woom’s winter gloves are top notch.
Breathable, but with protection against wind, rain/snow, and cold, these gloves are also a great option for those cold fall rides. Our testers loved how they kept their hands warm, but not sweaty. They especially appreciated how easy it still was to shift and brake because the gloves are padded for warmth, but not too bulky. They also look so cool our kids wanted to wear them to school. Really!
PROS:
- Soft and comfortable
- Better wind resistance than 100% Brisker gloves
- Keep hands warm without being too bulky
- Long elastic wrist band to keep wind out and leather pull strap for easy on and off
- Added padding between thumb and forefinger for extra support where hand fatigue is worst
- Thumb and forefinger pads are touchscreen-friendly
- Reflective woom logo on back of hands for better visibility
100% Brisker Cold Weather Gloves
Wide range of sizes available
MSRP: $35
SIZES AVAILABLE: 8 sizes, Youth Small to Adult XXL – sizes tend to run small
Not too thin and not too thick, the 100% Brisker gloves are the perfect option for cooler rides where added warmth is much appreciated. While not as wind resistant as woom’s gloves, the 100% Brisker gloves are offered in more color options and in a wider range of sizes. They do tend to run a bit small, so be sure to size up. Our young tester with a 5 1/2″ long palm barely fits in the youth small.
Made with an insulated top shell and a moisture-wicking microfiber interior, they offer great protection without inhibiting mobility. Silicon graphics line the palm and the top of the forefinger for extra grip, even during wet conditions. As an added bonus, the thumb features a soft and absorbent nose wipe pad.
PROS:
- Nose and absorbant nose wipe pad on thumb
- Keep hands warm without being too bulky
- Silicon tipped forefinger for easy braking
- Hook and loop opening for easier access
- Silicon printed palm for grip in wet conditions
- Reflective graphics on top of the glove
- Thumb and forefinger are touch screen friendly
CONS:
- Short cuff can allow wind up the sleeve
- Tend to run small

5 Best Knee & Elbow Pads for Kids (2021 Reviews)
As parents, our main concern when our children are out playing on their bikes is safety. Every year, many children go to the emergency room due to bike injuries (1).
We always tell our kids to wear a helmet to protect their heads. But just like a head injury, scraped knees and bruised elbows can dampen a child’s enthusiasm for biking or other sports.
By getting them to wear the proper gear, you can minimize their chance of injuries. Finding the best knee and elbow pads for kids is a great place to start.

Who Needs Knee and Elbow Pads?
Every child can use a little more protection when riding their bike or scooter. Whether they’re two-wheel newbies or mini daredevils, knee and elbow pads can help boost their confidence.
For timid children who are still learning, pads make them feel secure and not scared of falling. They’ll give them that much-needed confidence to get back up and continue if they do fall.
For more aggressive riders, perhaps doing stunts or riding on tracks, knee and elbow pads become essentials.
Going over jumps or up and down skateboard ramps can result in a trip to the ER. Pads can’t totally prevent injuries, but they can reduce them (2).
Even a small child who is just starting to ride a balance bike can benefit. At this age, falls are inevitable. Toddlers tend to fall with their hands first, which is why the elbows and hands, especially require protection.
But if your child is confident on their bike and only using it to go to school or cruise around the neighborhood, pads might not be necessary. For leisure riders, wearing a good helmet should suffice.
How to Choose Knee/Elbow Pads
Material
To ensure your little one is protected and comfortable, you must consider the materials used. The outer shell is generally hard and durable, often made of premium plastic to withstand falls.
Under the hard shell you’ll find padding. For knee and elbow pads, manufacturers usually utilize impact-absorbing foam or polyurethane. This is ideal to look for to ensure full protection.
Consider the fabric. Because sweating occurs during physical activity, you want something breathable to keep your child comfortable. Cotton or mesh are two excellent materials for this — some pads include both.
Comfort
For comfort, it’s a great idea to pick flexible pads that can move with your child.
A superb choice is sleeve pads — these work similarly to compression pads, which increase the blood flow.
They’re comfortable since they curve with your child’s legs and arms.

90,000 women’s models under a fur coat, elongated without fingers, high from Eleganzza, knitted, rubber and knitted
It is not the first season that long women’s gloves complement the images of models at the shows of collections of various designers and, importantly, different seasons. This accessory has long ceased to be purely streetwear – you can wear it for both warmth and beauty. They will add luxury to any look, you just need to figure out how to wear them correctly
Features and Benefits
Short gloves, even the most beautiful ones, are most often worn to warm hands. The longs have another task – to “make” the image. With long gloves it is impossible to be an inconspicuous gray mouse. They will immediately set you apart from the crowd.
It is very important that this accessory adds vertical stripes to the image, which means it helps to stretch the figure and visually make your mistress slimmer.
Made of expensive materials, long gloves perfectly complement not only elegant, but also basic things. With their help, you can even make your everyday look more status-conscious.
Fashion Models
Winter
For wearing with outerwear in autumn and winter, long gloves are made of leather, suede, wool, cashmere. Most often they are elbow-length, and the fingers are completely closed. The inside of the gloves should be insulated with a woolen knitted fabric, the warmest ones may have a fur lining. They can be smooth or gathered in folds.
Fingerless
Glovellets are gloves with fingers cut off in the middle phalanx. Such models are often very richly decorated – the decor looks especially beautiful on them.Of course, such gloves cannot be worn in cold weather, but insulated models are produced that are convenient for auto lady.
Wedding
Gloves of amazing beauty for a special occasion. They are sewn mainly from guipure, satin, silk with the addition of synthetics or artificial materials. The choice of styles is simply huge! Fully closed gloves with translucent guipure fingers look very gentle.
A popular model – mitts, which are fixed on the middle finger with a loop. Such gloves lengthen the arms well and make the bride more graceful. Many brides also prefer mitts because the wedding ring will be worn immediately on the finger.
Wedding mitts without an eyelet are sewn with a beautiful frill on the fingers.
Such gloves can be different in length – from elongated versions, reaching the middle of the forearm, to very long ones, extending beyond the elbow. The imagination of designers here knows no bounds – wedding gloves are richly decorated: embroidery, beads, rhinestones, drapery, frills and ruffles, applique. By the way, it is not at all necessary that the wedding gloves are white. Like a dress, they can be ivory, red, blue and further up to extremely bright colors.
Long gloves look best with dresses with thin spaghetti straps or even with bare shoulders. According to etiquette, they are removed during the feast.
With cuff
Very elegant models of gloves, where the cuff (the entire part that goes after the wrist) is made of a different material. For example, there is a leather glove on the wrist, and a cashmere cuff. Thanks to the beautiful cut (the cuff and the glove can be stitched with an angle, round seam, etc.) and the combination of materials, these gloves look expensive and stylish. They can be very whimsical to care for, but they are worth it! V
With sleeve
Gloves with a dense knitted cuff, reminiscent of the sleeve of a warm sweater. Due to the fact that they combine leather with knitwear, they are cheaper than completely leather options, but they look very good with coats, ponchos, vests.
Fingerless mitts
Mitts are a type of fingerless gloves. Unlike glovellets, they have no fingers at all, i.e. end in knuckles. Some models have a small thumb tube, and some don’t. For girls with graceful hands and beautiful manicure, both are good. If gloves with fingers are a classic, then glovells or mitts will perfectly complement a sporty or casual style.
Colors
Glove makers produce products in every color imaginable. Basic colors – black, gray, brown – go well with almost any clothing. Blue, blue, green or red gloves can be diluted with dull black and gray coats or fur coats. Whimsical beige, white gloves go well with equally whimsical light coats or elegant dresses.Shiny gloves will complement the evening look.
When choosing the color of gloves, remember that it is not at all necessary to combine them with shoes or a bag. It is a good idea to support them with a little color-matched accent. But in general, long gloves can and should be a bright vertical line on their own.
Materials
The purpose of long gloves and what they can be combined with directly depends on the material from which the gloves are made.
For wearing with outerwear in different seasons, of course, leather gloves are most suitable. They are durable, beautiful, quite high-status and appropriate in any situation. For the winter, options made of smooth leather, warmed with wool or fur, with fur trim are suitable. For warmer weather or under a dress – gloves made of thin leather, perforated, openwork. Hands with leather gloves will never get sweaty or cold.
Long suede gloves are also versatile. They are worn both with coats and fur coats, and with dresses (an example that has already become a classic – the image of Angelina Jolie in the film “Tourist”). Such models look very expensive, but require careful maintenance and careful handling. Good suede is thin enough and has a noticeable pile. When choosing suede gloves, pay attention to the thickness and quality of the seams – they should not rub your hands.
Cashmere gloves are warm and beautiful.Stylists do not recommend combining them with leather clothes, but with a coat or fur products – this would be an excellent choice. Cashmere, in addition to warming the skin, is quite elastic. These gloves can be worn both on the bare hand and on the sleeve.
Knitted options are good for creating relaxed bows in casual or sport chic style. They go well with jackets and down jackets. Knitted gloves are much cheaper than leather ones: this is a great option for female students or those who are just starting fashion experiments. The best option for the street is knitted woolen gloves. In texture, they are perfectly combined with coats, knitted cardigans, capes, knitted dresses.
Another inexpensive option is fleece gloves. It is a synthetic material similar to wool that retains heat well. They are quite thin and comfortable, easy to stretch and unpretentious to care for. Can be completed with knitted details on the cuff.Fleece gloves are not an elegant option. They can be worn when going shopping, walking with children.
Lacquered gloves will attract everyone’s attention. Long for the elbow or only up to the middle of the forearm, they will be the center of the image and its main accent in any case. That is why stylists believe that this thing is not for every day. Such models are suitable for an evening dress, an elegant fur coat (especially bright, contrasting colors).Patent leather requires more care than regular leather. It is not recommended to carry heavy bags with these gloves.
For wearing with evening dresses, except for leather, various fabric gloves are suitable. Satin – absolutely smooth and with a beautiful sheen on the fabric. Very often it is from satin that wedding gloves are sewn. Decorated with draperies, embroidery. Stretch well, but rather slippery – you should take this into account when choosing a handbag and other accessories.
Lace models surprisingly emphasize the grace of the hands. Openwork, translucent, depending on the color, they can bring different notes to the image. For example, black – will add mystery and elegance. Red – passion (it is no coincidence that long red gloves are part of erotic costumes), and white or beige will emphasize the lightness and purity of the image.
Real velvet, which is made from silk fiber, is not easy to find today, so velvet gloves are a rarity.Nevertheless, there are good synthetic counterparts that look no less luxurious. The main thing is that the pile is thick and on a dense basis – then the fabric will form amazing folds, which give the velvet a solemn look. Long velvet gloves are an evening option, black velvet gloves can be worn with an elegant coat.
How to choose
For a long glove to fit like a glove and fit around your hand, you need to choose the right size.
The size of the gloves is determined as follows:
- Measure the circumference of your palm across from the base of your thumb.
- Convert the result to inches by multiplying the resulting number by 2.54.
- Round the result.
- The resulting number is the size.
Gloves cannot be bought without trying on, especially long ones! The cuff should not be narrow or wide, it should be easy to put on and not gather in folds, if this is not provided for by the model. The fingers should be comfortable to move and bend. If you “spread” your fingers in different directions, a properly selected glove does not “pull” anywhere – otherwise it will quickly break.
Pay attention to the neatness of the seams – on long models all this is noticeably much stronger than on short ones. The insulation must be well distributed inside and not damaged.
Leather, suede, cashmere or velvet options are best suited for a fur coat.A short-sleeved coat is, of course, impractical. Therefore, as a rule, this is either the second fur coat in the wardrobe (it is assumed that there is another one, warm – with a one-piece sleeve), or a transformer model. In such a fur coat, a full sleeve comes unfastened, allowing you to wear it with long gloves in warm enough weather.
How to wear
For gloves to last long, you must wear them correctly. You cannot push all 5 fingers into the glove at once, and then straighten the material, crossing the fingers of two hands. In order not to damage the seams, the cuff of the glove must be bent (with long gloves – slightly tucked in) and first insert only 4 fingers, pull them well, and then stick your thumb into the glove, while smoothing the cuff and straightening it to its full length. A small amount of talcum powder can be added to tight gloves that are difficult to put on.
With what to wear
When it comes to outerwear, long gloves are worn with fur coats and coats with short sleeves.Either sleeve ¾, then the glove reaches the elbow, or 7/8, then this is a shorter version of the glove – to the middle of the forearm. It is very beautiful if the sleeve is wide at the same time – this way the accessory will more emphasize the line of the hand.
Elongated gloves go well with fur vests, capes, boas. On the catwalks, you can see stylish looks: a fur vest – a bare hand – a glove. In reality, wearing this is unlikely to work, so stylists recommend that the glove matches the color of what is worn under the vest – m.That is, a black turtleneck is a black glove.
Under the coat you can choose both leather and suede, as well as textile (velvet, cashmere) and knitted options. If you want to surprise, be sure to take a closer look at the cape – a trapezoid-shaped coat with cutouts for the arms. Long gloves that combine different textures – for example, leather and knitwear – look good with such a stylish thing.
The poncho is also an excellent companion for long gloves. You can choose both knitted and leather, fleece models for the cape.
Gloves should be chosen very carefully for an evening dress. It is believed that the shorter the sleeve, the longer the glove. Ideally, if there are no sleeves at all, and the glove goes over the elbow. But this is suitable for slender girls with rather long and graceful arms. Overweight girls should remember that the glove should never “cut” the hand in the thickest place.
Each look is individual, but stylists recommend the following combinations:
- Leather gloves for a classic-cut dress made of dense fabric.
- Chiffon, guipure dress will be successfully complemented by suede gloves.
- Satin and silk dress will be complemented by accessories made of lycra or satin.
When dressing for a festive event, you can put on a bracelet or a ring over gloves, but in no case should there be a lot of jewelry!

Fingerless gloves: women, men and children
With the onset of cold weather, it is necessary to take care of the warmth of the hands. There are mittens for this purpose. However, they look prosaic and do not draw attention to themselves like fingerless gloves. They do not need to be removed when driving a car or when looking for the necessary little things in a bag or pockets.
Short description
An accessory was invented in France in the 18th century. Gloves without fingers are called mitts. At first they were used by the working population. Then the accessory was loved in the highest circles of society. It has become not only practical, but also a fashionable item that adorns the hands.
Knitted long gloves leg warmers
There are many varieties of accessory with finger holes.Their type and name determines the reason and purpose of the wear. Mitts are used in everyday life, as well as at special events.
Male models
Leather accessories for hands , where there are different holes, are called glovelets. They are worn by bikers, rock musicians, athletes, drivers. Men’s fingerless gloves symbolized protest against social norms and were considered a symbol of masculinity. Now gloveletts are worn not only by men, but also by women. To prevent the skin from sweating, they are made with various decorative holes.Examples are shown in the photo.
Men’s leather fingerless gloves
Transformers for fishermen are not only men’s gloves, but also mittens. They are so called because they can close and turn into mittens. This accessory is convenient to use outdoors in severe winter conditions. The fingers are warm, and, if necessary, you do not need to completely remove the mitten.
Winter gloves transformers without fingers
Sports accessories for hands are designed to protect them from rubbing calluses in the gym or on a bike. The fabric does not wear out quickly due to its strength. It also absorbs and eliminates sweat, preventing the athlete from discomfort. On the palms, special inserts are placed that fix the hand on the handlebar or bar.
Sports Fingerless Leather Gloves
Good to know! Men’s sports gloves for boxing also belong to the mitts.
Ladies
The range of accessories for women allows you to choose them for any occasion. They are used as decoration or for warmth in winter.
Ladies’ brown fingerless gloves
Leg warmers – a kind of women’s gloves without fingers, have a length up to the elbow and above. They are so called because they can be in the form of a pipe without holes for the fingers. For example, see the photo. The model is convenient because you can choose the length yourself. Leg warmers can also have finger holes.
Ladies knitted gloves leg warmers
Short Glovelettes are unisex style, that is, they are suitable for both men and women. The length of the fingers does not reach the upper phalanx of the fingers. Made from leather, fabric and yarn. Fingerless leather gloves can be used when driving or playing sports.
Products with a thumb hole only are shaped like a tube. The feminine accessory resembles a mitten cut off at the top. It is convenient in that when putting on, you do not have to look for and determine the holes for the fingers.
With decor and lace, accessories are used for special occasions, for example, at a wedding, a public event or a party.Long products with laces along the entire arm are in fashion for weddings. In the area of the fingers, there may be one bridge between the middle and ring fingers. Such gloves are convenient in that they do not need to be removed during the ritual with rings.
Fingerless gloves with decor and laces
For your information! There are also models with a treatment effect. Such products are designed to restore skin or joints after an illness or to prevent it. Healing mitts are made of elastic materials that eliminate moisture.
Children’s models
Children’s fingerless gloves are used for sports and everyday wear. Children love these accessories. They wear them with pleasure.
In games where hands are involved, such as volleyball or tennis, ball hits often cause joint injuries. To prevent such cases, caring parents purchase such children’s accessories.
Children’s gloves
Boys and girls, by their nature, often lose items of clothing due to their carelessness in the process of removing mittens. For everyday wear, buy or knit children’s models with an opening top. Knitted items allow you not to remove them completely if necessary. Children can easily get items out of pockets or a briefcase, while removing only the upper part of the accessory.
What are they wearing?
The shortened sleeves of women’s outerwear allow long leg warmers to be worn. Such wardrobe items will allow you to create a fashionable image that will delight motorists with its practicality.
Short mitts in winter should be worn with clothing where the sleeve is of normal length. Short gloves and short sleeves should not be combined. An exception is the summer version of the image.
Leather mitts look good for outdoor activities with sportswear. They complement the look. At the same time, the skin of the hands does not sweat. The hand does not slide off the inventory.
Men’s and women’s accessories are not difficult to match to the image if you know your style. Leather short accessories are suitable for sports, street and youth trends.Long arm warmers, knitted products and other models, without unnecessary details, belong to everyday, business style and classics.
The fashion for gloves worn for evening dresses appeared in the Middle Ages. But then this accessory was available only to girls and ladies from noble families. Nowadays, the situation has changed, any lady can afford an elegant dress and seals, even if she is a kindergarten student or an elementary school student.Let’s figure out what kind of children’s gloves for a dress are. StylesFor matinees in kindergartens, as well as for other special events, many parents buy ball gowns for their little daughters. In this outfit, the little ones look adorable. But to make the image complete, it is worth complementing it with accessories. For example, choose gloves for a child’s dress. This item can be purchased or sewn by yourself. Which style of gloves should you prefer? The most common and convenient option is mitts. This is a special style of gloves that leaves the fingers open. The model covers only the back of the hand, wrist and forearm. The length of the gloves can be different – to the middle of the forearm or to the elbow. Choosing gloves with a length above the elbow for a little girl is not worth it, they are inconvenient for a baby. Mitts are held due to the loop, which is put on the middle finger. This style is versatile. It will suit both a lush ball gown and a more modest straight silhouette alongside. Another option is full-fledged gloves, this model completely covers the fingers. The length of the gloves, like the length of the mitts, can be different. You can choose a very short model, barely covering the wrist, or prefer an elongated version. MaterialsChildren’s gloves for an elegant dress can be made from a wide variety of materials. Most often, guipure, chiffon, brocade, lycra are used. Each material has its own characteristics. The most comfortable gloves are made of elastic fabrics. They fit nicely around the handle and do not restrict movement. Lycra is a particularly good choice. This material is made of synthetic (the raw material is polyurethane) threads. However, lycra, despite its artificial origin, is perfectly breathable, so the girl will not be hot in gloves. In addition, lycra has a high degree of elasticity, so the gloves retain their shape and provide complete freedom of movement. But gloves made of inelastic fabrics are less comfortable, as they will constantly slip off the hands, causing a lot of inconvenience to the young fashionista. If, nevertheless, there is a desire to sew gloves from chiffon or brocade, then it will be necessary to insert elastic bands so that the accessory is held on the hand. The rubber bands should be placed at wrist level and every 5 cm of the model’s height. But you need to select an elastic band so that it only holds the glove, but does not squeeze the girl’s handle, otherwise blood circulation may be impaired. But still the option with elastic bands is extremely inconvenient, and such gloves look less attractive, since they do not fit the hand. Therefore, it is still better to choose gloves for children’s ball gowns made of elastic fabric. Moreover, now with the addition of elastic thread, various fabrics are made, including guipure, brocade and chiffon. DecorationGloves for ball gowns are decorated in different ways. The simplest yet most effective option for long lace or lycra gloves is a row of small pearl buttons.Such buttons play a decorative role, since it is better for a child to sew elastic gloves. Other decor options can be used. For example, small satin ribbon bows, rhinestones, lace. When choosing a decor option, it should be remembered that glove decorations should be in harmony with the decoration of the dress. How to choose gloves for your outfit? Most often, smart gloves are purchased for a reason, but for a specific outfit. But how do you choose the best option? Should gloves match the shade of the outfit, or are they chosen on the basis of contrast? Should the texture of the dress and the accessory match? Does the length of the gloves and the length of the dress depend? Let’s try to answer these questions.Let’s start with the length. There is a generally accepted rule: the shorter the sleeve of the dress, the longer the gloves should be. If the dress does not have a sleeve, then you can choose an accessory up to the elbow (it is better not to wear the option above the elbow for children). If the dress has lantern sleeves, then gloves up to the middle of the forearm or very short gloves that cover the wrist are suitable. You can choose the texture and colors of the gloves at your discretion. Modern fashion does not dictate any rules in this matter. But if a solemn event is planned (for example, a relative’s wedding), then it is better to choose the option when the dress and gloves have the same color and texture. In this case, the image will turn out to be solemn and sophisticated. It is not necessary to choose a tone-on-tone gloves, you can choose an option of the same color, but in a different tone. For example, wear a gold dress with gloves in a pale gold tone. If you create a freer image, you can choose the color of the gloves at your discretion. You can make this element the brightest spot of the image. For example, wear a white dress and scarlet or bright blue gloves. But then the color of the accessory must be supported by one more element. For example, a wide sash, shoes or hair accessories. The main thing is not to overdo it with a variety of colors when creating an image, that is, not to use more than three different colors in one image. | Almost every girl imagines herself as a beautiful princess at the ball.Nowadays, it is quite possible to fulfill this dream, since the tradition of organizing balls is gradually reviving. In addition to the traditional graduation party at school, there are other events that are usually attended in a ballroom dress. Everyone probably knows what a ball gown looks like. But not every girl thinks about the need to complement her ballroom look. Ballroom gloves are one of these accessories. A bit of historyAs a wardrobe item, they appeared in time immemorial. The ancient Egyptian pharaohs already wore a semblance of gloves, and this item was a sign of the high status of its owner. Gloves were of great importance in the Middle Ages. They were a must-have item for both women and men. Moreover, this item had a symbolic meaning. For example, a knight received gloves upon initiation into a rank. But the real heyday of ballroom gloves came in the 19th century. At that time, strict rules were enacted about the wearing of gloves. So, male models were completely devoid of jewelry. At the same time, suede gloves were supposed to be worn to the military uniform, and exclusively kid gloves to the ball gown. Ballroom gloves of the 19th century were made mainly from white husky. They had to fit tightly around the hand, without forming a single wrinkle. The rules of etiquette were not allowed to take off such gloves during the ball. However, the ban was dictated by practical considerations, it was not easy to take them off and put them on. Fildepersovy ball signets later came into vogue. They were often decorated with gold cords with tassels, bracelets made of precious stones or pearls, lace, feathers and other decorations. Modern realitiesToday you can buy any gloves for a ball gown. As a rule, these are long models that cover the arm to the elbow and above. They are sewn from elastic fabrics – satin, silk, lace with the addition of elastic threads. It is also possible to use short models of gloves that barely cover the wrist. Choosing gloves for ballroom dancing, you need to carefully consider the selection of the size. They should fit snugly around the hand, not slip during movement. In addition to traditional closed gloves, mitts or gloves with a loop that is put on one finger are appropriate. ColorsThe classic version is white women’s ball gown gloves, this model is ideal for any ball gown color. However, color models are also available. You can wear gloves to match the main outfit or choose a model that is a few shades lighter. How to choose? The style of ballroom gloves is determined by the style of the dress. The selection rule is simple: the shorter the sleeve of the outfit, the longer the gloves should be. So, high, above the elbow gloves will look perfect with a dress with bare shoulders or straps. If the dress has flashlight sleeves, you can choose an elbow-length model. Short fishnet gloves are suitable for a dress with a sleeve. The most important thing when buying ballroom gloves, as well as any other gloves, is to choose the right size. Empty fingertips on a glove or a model that crawls while dancing will not add to your look. Since all the seams are visible on gloves made of fine fabrics, pay attention to the quality of their work before buying a model. Notice the threads sticking out or uneven stitches? It is better to refuse to purchase this model, because everything in the ballroom image should be flawless. When choosing a style, you need to take into account the peculiarities of your figure. So, if a girl is plump, then it is better for her not to wear elongated gloves, they only emphasize the shortcomings of the physique. It is better for full women of fashion to choose short gloves, possibly with open fingers. But long gloves are very suitable for tall and thin girls. But they should also avoid too pretentious volumetric decor on gloves, since the presence of such decorations can visually change the shape of the hands. How to wear? When planning to attend the ball, you need to familiarize yourself in advance with the rules of etiquette associated with wearing ballroom gloves. Start by putting on gloves. Since modern models, as a rule, are sewn from elastic materials, they are not as difficult to put on as models with buttons. However, first you need to gently spread the glove over your hand, and then smooth out the fabric that fits the hand above the wrist. Gloves are not removed during dancing, this rule applies to both open and closed models. If the girl, for some reason, wants to take off her gloves, then this should be done in the ladies’ room. Taking off a glove in public is considered indecent. |
Objective and unbiased comparison of a wonderful and promising snowboard equipment with such a backward and stagnant phenomenon as alpine skiing | Sports news
The most implacable skiers, having read the headline, have already suffocated from indignation and are fighting in a fit, the most frostbitten snowboarders, without having read to the end, ran to show the article to their friends, therefore, I hope, the screens are left with sober people (in a figurative sense) and calm (literally ), not that they are very concerned about the question “Which is better?”, but showing some interest in it.Since everything written below should be, as mentioned above, objective and unbiased, I will not say what I ride myself – let it remain my secret.
A wonderful snowboard projectile by its origin
is not obliged to the vile invention of the Chukchi and Norwegians – he appeared like Aphrodite –
from the ocean waves, and was originally created for relaxation, having no
applied meaning – it cannot be hunted or fought (“and now
a column of snowboarders is jumping in front of the stands … ”) and it seems to me
strange that pacifists and “greens” still do not besiege the DEZ and the UN
with a proposal to completely ban skis, as accomplices of wars and unjustified
cruelty, and transferring all skiers to… to… to something else.It is amazing that people themselves, intelligent beings who know how to choose and have such
choice, still ride on these relics of the past.
There is, however, sadly to admit, the skis
some advantages over a wonderful snowboarding projectile. First, on them
you can stand. Secondly, to walk. Thirdly, to climb on the yoke.
Fourthly – slowly roll along a flat, gentle slope and until the first
turning to feel like a master. And finally: stuck in the snow near the sun lounger
with the owner, they look very, very in the photo … The person who bought the skis
(not a skier yet, not even a kettle yet, just a person with skis), immediately starts
think what he will wear “under skis” and where he will go to ski.Human,
having bought a wonderful snowboard projectile immediately begins to think about how it will be
fall, because from the stories of friends and from not very numerous literature,
he already knows in advance that he will have to fall a lot and constantly, and that no
clothes will not save from snow in shorts, and no protection – from broken elbows and
purple ass. He happily carries the board home, catching the looks
passers-by in the big city, and at home anxiously examines his elbows and, twisting
neck, butt, secretly hoping to discern hidden snowboarding talents that
will help to get by with small losses.
Do not be afraid, friends – what you were told about the falls, what you read is complete nonsense. Do not be afraid in advance, because you will fall as you could not imagine even in a nightmare – you will beat off not only the previously declared backside and elbows, but also knees, and sides, and stomach, and, the strangest, head. You will have sore muscles in your legs, abdomen, biceps, and triceps. You will bite your tongue several times. A couple of times the board will hit you on the nose (by the way, later, when you learn how to ride, you will not repeat this trick for any money). It is then that you will regret that you bought a wonderful snowboard projectile, and did not opt for the fossil Chukchi devices. But: patience, patience … When three-, four-day-old snowboarders get out of the paddling pool, they are surprised to find that they are riding on an equal footing with three- or four-year-old skiers, and this is the main secret of a wonderful snowboarding projectile: unusually fast reaching an average level of skiing – days instead of years, moreover, with less physical costs. After all, we, people, do not really like to work, especially when resting, and skis, created as a working tool, command us all the time: “Work! Work! ”, And the snowboard projectile is remarkable in that it allows you to control yourself without particularly straining: body forward, body backward, forward, backward, … forward … backward … Who can say that it is not pleasant?
Having reached the average level, some in three years, some in three
day, skiers and snowboarders begin to ski on the same slopes and enter
direct contact, which does not add to their love for each other.it
happens because the skis and the board are completely different shells and roll at all
differently. Two skiers ride side by side without any problems, two snowboarders too, but
if you let one and the other side by side, one of them will immediately be in a ditch, and
it will take a long time to collect gloves and sticks in the snow. People who have mastered the wonderful
snowboarding projectile and going beyond the training slopes, usually do not know that
on the tracks there are some rules of conduct invented by the followers
Chukchi Vikings, suitable for themselves, but absolutely unacceptable for
real doochniks.Judge for yourself: a tired skier stops and rests,
a tired snowboarder cannot stand, so he lies down. A friend lies next to me
a friend, another friend, and soon the section of the slope resembles a rookery of vacationers
seals, which leads skiers into hunting excitement, and they press, press, press.
Undercrowded, rested snowboarders take revenge on skiers,
rushing through them literally in front of their noses, and to indignant cries they answer that
“You yourself scratched the slide with your wood”. This kindergarten
ends when experience comes and some skill and confrontation
goes into the verbal domain, and these disputes continue to this day, despite
a clear advantage of a wonderful snowboard projectile.Do board workers have a trump card
ace – virgin soil, which is awaited, like manna from heaven and which for the majority
skiers are an insurmountable obstacle. Still: you need to ski with such a frequency and
amplitude to work with the legs and body, that there is not enough strength, and on the board –
slightly accelerated, she surfaced and … forward … back …
spray boards, splashes …
Unfortunately, in the mountains, in addition to liquid, snow and steam,
there is a fourth state of water – ice, on which hunting boards lead
yourself much better than a wonderful snowboard projectile, but skates are even better,
so the skis are not the best here either. And now, closing my eyes, I will say completely
an incredible thing: if you take a “super” skier and boarder and
start throwing them from a helicopter to different slopes with different terrain, the advantage
will be behind the skier. I already spoke about ice, but there is also such a thing as
symmetry of movement (my term), i.e. on skis it doesn’t matter where to go –
left or right, and the board has a toe and a back, and no matter how well you
nor skated, there is still a difference. And finally: you can ski several
steps, in particular, on pebbles or up, and on a wonderful snowboard
it is very difficult to walk. But everything said in this paragraph applies only to
athletes of the “super” level, of which one or two per thousand, if
throw everyone in a row, indiscriminately, snowboarders will return for dinner ten times more.
Yes, and what interest it is to scratch on ice and stones, here on virgin soil … but about this
we have already said.
It’s time to conclude: if you think you will grow to
skiing level Seba Michaud – buy skis, but first watch a movie with his
participation. Just take a look. If a photo of any
cafes where you drink beer with your legs outstretched in your unbuttoned boots, and if you
if you think that going down the cable car is not shameful – buy skis. But if you
want to roll on fresh snow, slightly touching it with your hand, leaving behind
smooth beautiful arcs and admiring the snow fireworks, as if hanging after you
in the air, your choice is a wonderful and promising snowboard projectile, oh
the merits of which you can talk a lot, but it is better to stand on it, be patient
a few days and discover the world of beautiful people and pure snow … etc.
etc. – guess yourself.
And the last thing: if you still intend to enter the world
wonderful people and pure snow – buy foam panties – they will not be superfluous.
I will not advise future skiers anything – buy books, everything is already written in them, you can start with Yuri Rytkheu.
Let me give you some advice, not really
coinciding with generally accepted recommendations for beginner snowboarders.
It is believed that you should start riding the board on a flat and gentle slope. On
in my opinion, the advice is correct if you have an instructor,
supporting you, helping you to stand, etc. If there is none, and more often so
happens, it is better to start on a steeper slope.Pros – it won’t fall like that
scary, easier to learn to slide, harder (almost impossible)
“Catch the edge” (this is what causes the most unexpected and
therefore painful falls), it is much easier to get up. Minus – scary to direct
board down the slope – speed is picked up instantly, but if you have enough
mind not to sit on the tail of the board – nothing terrible will happen, most likely,
you try to lean on the slope with your hands or sit on it, after which the board will dive
under you, and you will be surprised to find that the turn has turned out.Second tip
concerns the choice of bindings and boots. I am a supporter of rigid mountings and rigid ones
boots, on which almost no one rides. Pros – the board is controlled
almost perfect (if you want to turn over – get it, but on soft – until the board
will get what you want from her …), the fasteners practically do not break, they are easier
fasten, especially in frost or deep snow (quick fastening
especially relevant on short slopes, where you zip and unbutton in
ten times longer than you ride), you can ride in climbing plastic (which means
you can go upstairs in crampons or snowshoes, besides, it is – plastic – there is almost
all, therefore, saving money).
