Isle Royale Bushcraft Packs | Frost River
Bushcraft– wilderness self reliance skills— the ability to not only survive, but thrive for extended periods in the woods. For some, it can take a lot of gear to thrive, for others, all they need is a trusty knife, a hatchet, and the wealth of knowledge accumulated over a lifetime. Our Isle Royale Bushcraft Packs are built to carry big or small loads. All three sizes are designed narrow, for exploration, slipping between dog hair aspen and brush, these packs blend classic materials and construction with updated features for modern classic backwoods adventures. With lots of organization in the form of pockets, attachments and straps, there’s space to keep gear where it needs to be. Plus, there’s plenty of capacity in the tall, narrow pack body.
Features
-Twin, vertical 2-in-1 pockets straddle an axe sleeve. Pair it with one of our Wood Craft Axes. -Each pocket is roughly the size of a 1L bottle and provides a space between the pocket and pack body to stow a folding saw or other long, thin object and keep it handy. -Premium Buckskin padded backstraps are distinctive and comfortable. -Ships with sturdy sternum strap installed. -All the straps are carefully selected and cut from a side of strong harness leather. -Lashing and compression at the sides with bridle leather straps, tough diamond-braid nylon cord and solid brass rings and buckles. -A slip pocket at the bottom of each side panel, two D-rings on the lid and lash squares at the bottom (four squares on the full size and Jr., two squares on the Mini) allow gear to be stored on the outside of the pack. -The lid features a slim pocket for maps or other essentials. -Outer pockets feature solid brass grommet weep holes to purge duff and water. Each of the bushcraft packs now come with a waist belt holder built in. A Medium Cotton Web Belt that fits 30”-44” is always included with No.730, the full sized Isle Royale. If you’d like another size or style, or want to add a belt to an Isle Royale Junior or Mini, check out our Waist Belt offerings, here.
We build all our waxed canvas Frost River packs, bags, and accessories at our shop in Duluth, Minnesota.
The Isle Royales are no exception. Weather and abrasion resistant waxed canvas from Fairfield Textiles in New Jersey, premium leather from the S.B. Foot Tannery in Red Wing, Minnesota, along with robust, solid brass hardware, all come together with heavy thread and pack building know-how by our experienced sewing and production staff here in Duluth, Minnesota, USA. We know how to build a pack the right way, guarantee it to last, and will be here with service and repair should it need to be refurbished after years of service. There is a symbiosis created when carrying a pack handcrafted of natural materials into the field. The canvas and leather blend with nature in a way that modern synthetics can’t. The swish going through brush is softer. The scrape over rock is subdued, the natural colors and organic textures just fit. The smell of warm leather in the sun, the beaded water droplets, fresh off a canoe paddle stroke, glisten just a bit brighter on waxed canvas than they do on with man-made materials. There’s unique character in a handcrafted, waxed canvas pack. It’s meant to be used in the woods, as it has been for generations. It remains relevant, and reminds a person to make plans to get back out again soon. Those of us who care about what we carry, and can see an object for more than the sum of its parts, will notice an inherent value and a sense of camaraderie between an outdoor traveler, a trusted pack, and the road, the stream, the journey… Add a Windigo Signal Bag and some straps to add a zippered pocket that lets you blend in or stand out, depending on your needs and changing environment.
Personalize your pack with a Canvas My State leather patch, details below.

A Golfer’s Solution to Torn Pockets | The U.S. Small Business Administration
Vietnam Era Veteran Silvestre Aguilar Trevino, Jr. is the inventor of Ready Tee, an innovative, golf accessory! The pioneering tee carrying-clip is small enough to fit in a shirt pocket and is made of lightweight polypropylene, originally designed to hold three golf tees and, can double as a personalized, marketing product for companies.
It all began with a recurring problem faced by Trevino. Frustrated by the holes in his trouser pockets caused by carrying sharp, golf tees and the constant heckling about his torn pants from his golf friends, he decided to invent a solution to his problem. He soon created the Ready Tee! Not only did it solve his original issues, it also minimized the time lost looking for an extra tee in the tee box or running to the golf cart to grab another tee.
Silvestre Trevino, Jr. contacted the UTRGV Small Business Development Center (UTRGV SBDC) in 2014, to begin the process of commercializing his golf-tee accessory. With guidance from UTRGV SBDC, Trevino completed the business plan for his product. He also obtained market research, as well as financial projections, cost estimates, and pricing information. With encouragement and feedback from UTRGV SBDC, Trevino competed for and was an award recipient of the 2016 McAllen Innovation Grant contest held by the McAllen, Texas Chamber of Commerce. He used winning funds, along with external investment, to continue to develop his product.
Since then, Trevino has worked with UTRGV SBDC to determine the value of his business and strategize product improvements. Recently, Trevino was approved for a $49,000 loan from PeopleFund an SBA approved micro lender. This funding will help him move forward with commercializing the newest Ready Tee. Trevino has developed a new version of Ready Tee. The newer model holds up to four tees and is flatter than the original, creating more space for advertisement!
Trevino continues to work with UTRGV SBDC in updating his business plan and sales projections, as he develops new products and expands into new markets. Ready Tee is homebased and he employs three part-time staff members but will hire an additional two once he purchases a new specialized printer.
“Don’t be afraid to ask for help,” Trevino states. “I’ve gotten a lot of help from a lot of great people at no cost such as the SBDC, SBA, Chambers, LiftFund and PeopleFund. “My plan is to one day pitch Ready Tee on Shark Tank.” Furthermore, Trevino attributes a lot of his success to his family especially his son who has been supportive working alongside him.
Arrest affidavit: Carlton Bragg Jr. stood with hands in pockets as girlfriend allegedly hit, pushed him | News, Sports, Jobs
When his girlfriend accused him of cheating on her and began to get physically violent, University of Kansas basketball player Carlton Bragg Jr. stood against a wall with his head down and his hands in his pockets, according to a newly released arrest affidavit in the case.
Initially Bragg was arrested and charged with battering the 19-year-old woman, Saleeha Soofi. However, the charge against him stemming from the Dec. 9 incident was soon dropped.
A single charge of battery was then filed against Soofi on Dec. 14.
Saleeha Soofi
During a Delta Upsilon fraternity party on Dec. 9, Soofi pulled Bragg, 21, into a stairwell and the two argued, according to the arrest affidavit filed in Douglas County District Court. The two were dating, the affidavit says, and “previously agreed they would not date other people,” but “Soofi learned Bragg was being unfaithful to her.”
An arrest affidavit is a document filed by police explaining the grounds for an arrest. Allegations in an affidavit must be proved in court.
In the stairwell, Soofi told police, “she was swearing and pointing her finger at Bragg and his back was against a wall,” the affidavit says; during this time she “felt Bragg was not paying attention to her, so she pushed him in the chest.”
Aside from interviewing Soofi, police also examined security video camera footage from the stairwell.
Citing the criminal investigation, representatives from both the Lawrence Police Department and the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office denied the Journal-World’s request for the video footage.
In the video, police noted two “individuals believed to be Bragg and Soofi” enter the stairwell, while Soofi slammed the door shut and engaged in “what appeared to be an animated encounter with Bragg,” the affidavit says.
“During much of the encounter, Bragg stands against the wall with his head down and his hands in his jacket pockets,” the affidavit says.
During the argument, Soofi shoved Bragg in the chest several times and twice she placed her left hand on his neck and pushed him against the wall, the affidavit says.
After some time “being punched or shoved by Soofi,” Bragg removed his hands from his pockets and shoved her, the affidavit says, and she fell backward onto the steps inside the stairwell.
Soofi then walked up the stairs only to return shortly thereafter talking on the telephone, the affidavit says. The footage did not record sound.
As Soofi left the stairwell she slapped Bragg’s shoulder, the affidavit says.
Initially Soofi told police that Bragg punched her in the face, but later she noted he might have only pushed her, the affidavit says. Officers noticed a “raised bruise” on her right elbow.
Bragg was arrested that morning and released later that afternoon after posting a $500 bond. He was temporarily suspended from the basketball team, but after the criminal charge against him was dropped the suspension was lifted.
Soofi is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 25, when she will be formally charged.
When are police allowed to search your pockets and bag?
If a police officer arrests you, they can perform a full search of your pockets, personal items and car. But what if you are not under arrest? What if you are simply walking down the street or are stopped in a traffic stop? Can the police legally search you and seize what they find to use against you in court?
Stop and frisk
The Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution grants you protection against unreasonable searches and seizures by police. This means that the police cannot search people’s houses or persons without a valid search warrant. However, the Supreme Court has carved out a few important exceptions to this rule.
If a police officer has a reasonable suspicion that you might be carrying a weapon, they are allowed to pat you down quickly in a search for a firearm or other weapon. They can do this even if they don’t have a valid warrant.
This type of stop and frisk is also called a Terry Stop. Under this system, the police have to stop the frisk as soon as they are satisfied that you don’t have a weapon on you. In other words, if they feel something in your pocket, but they know that the object cannot be a firearm or knife, they cannot pull it out of your pocket and examine it.
The reasonableness requirement
The key element of this exception is the reasonableness requirement. In other words, in order for the police’s frisk to be legal, their belief that you might have a weapon must be objectively reasonable, not simply based on a hunch.
If a police officer searches you without a warrant and without a sufficiently justifiable reason, and they find evidence that they later try to use against you in court – or if they improperly examine something in your pocket that’s obviously not a weapon – then your attorney can argue that the police seized the evidence improperly in violation of your Fourth Amendment rights. This means the court could hold that the police cannot present this evidence as part of their case against you.
The Constitution serves an essential role in protecting us from police overreach. Knowing when the police seized evidence against you improperly and in violation of your rights can mean the difference between victory and defeat in a criminal trial.

About military politeness and behavior of military personnel
67. Servicemen should constantly serve as an example of high culture, modesty and self-control, sacredly observe military honor, defend their dignity and respect the dignity of others. They must remember that not only they are judged by their behavior, but also the Armed Forces as a whole.
The relationship between military personnel is built on the basis of mutual respect. On matters of military service, they should contact each other on “you”. When applied personally, the military rank is called without specifying the words “justice” or “medical service”.
Chiefs and elders, referring to subordinates and juniors on service issues, call them by their military rank and surname or only by their military rank, adding in the latter case the word “comrade” before the military rank.
For example: “Private Petrov”, “Comrade Private”, “Sergeant Koltsov”, “Comrade Sergeant”, “Warrant Officer Ivanov”.
Servicemen studying in military professional educational organizations, military educational institutions of higher education and who do not have the military ranks of sergeants, foremen, warrant officers, warrant officers, officers, as well as servicemen studying in training military units, are named according to the military position to which they are appointed.
(as amended by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of 01.07.2014 N 483)
For example: “Cadet (listener) Ivanov”, “Comrade cadet (listener)”.
Subordinates and juniors, referring to their superiors and elders on service issues, call them according to their military rank, adding the word “comrade” before the military rank.
For example: “Comrade Senior Lieutenant”, “Comrade Rear Admiral”.
When referring to servicemen of guards formations and military units, the word “guard” is added before the military rank.
For example: “Comrade of the Guard Petty Officer of the 1st article”, “Comrade of the Guard Colonel”.
Out of order, officers can refer to each other not only by military rank, but also by name and patronymic. In everyday life, officers are allowed to use the affirmative expression “the officer’s word” and when parting with each other, they are allowed to say “I have the honor” instead of the words “goodbye”.
When referring to civilian personnel of the Armed Forces who replace military posts, servicemen call them by their military post, adding the word “comrade” before the title of the post, or by name and patronymic.
Distortion of military ranks, the use of obscene words, nicknames and nicknames, rudeness and familiar treatment are incompatible with the concept of military honor and dignity of a serviceman.
68. When out of line, when giving or receiving an order, servicemen are obliged to take a line posture, and when wearing a headdress, put their hand on it and lower it after giving or receiving an order.
When reporting or accepting a report, a soldier lowers his hand from his headgear at the end of the report. If the command “Attention” was given before the report, then the reporter, at the command of the chief, “Freely” repeats the command, and when wearing a headdress, he lowers his hand.
69.When contacting another soldier in the presence of a commander (chief) or a senior, you must ask him for permission.
For example: “Comrade Colonel. Let me turn to Captain Ivanov.”
When an affirmative answer is to be given to a question from a commander or a senior, the serviceman answers: “Yes, exactly,” and when negative, “Not at all.”
70. In public places, as well as in a tram, trolleybus, bus, metro car and suburban trains, in the absence of empty seats, a soldier is obliged to offer his place to the chief (senior).
If at a meeting it is impossible to freely disperse with the boss (senior), the subordinate (junior) is obliged to give way and, greeting, let him in; if it is necessary to overtake the chief (senior), the subordinate (junior) must ask permission for that.
Servicemen must be polite towards the civilian population, show special attention to the disabled, the elderly, women and children, help protect the honor and dignity of citizens, and also provide them with assistance in accidents, fires and other emergencies of a natural and man-made nature.
71. Servicemen are prohibited from keeping their hands in their clothing pockets, sitting or smoking in the presence of a superior (senior) without his permission, as well as smoking on the streets while walking and in areas not designated for smoking.
72. A sober lifestyle should be the daily behavior of all military personnel. The appearance on the streets, in public gardens, parks, public transport vehicles, and other public places in a state of intoxication is a disciplinary offense that disgraces the honor and dignity of a serviceman.
73. Military uniforms and insignia are established for servicemen. All military personnel, as well as citizens dismissed from military service with the right to wear military uniform, have the right to wear military uniforms. Military uniforms are worn strictly in accordance with the rules for wearing military uniforms and insignia determined by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation.
Servicemen doing military service under a contract have the right not to wear a military uniform during the time free from the performance of military service duties, as determined by the regulations of their service time, and servicemen doing military service by conscription – outside the location of a military unit upon dismissal or on vacation.
74. The rules of military courtesy, behavior and the implementation of a military salute are also obligatory for citizens dismissed from military service when they wear military uniform.

The Central Bank discovered a new type of fraudulent schemes on the Internet
The Central Bank began to identify financial pyramids operating on the principle of online investment games.Often, such projects work through cryptocurrency. The dangers of such pyramids are added by the involvement of children and young people

The Central Bank revealed the spread of a new type of financial pyramids in Russia in the form of “online investment games”, Valery Lyakh, the head of the department for countering unfair practices of the Bank of Russia, told RBC. There are few such projects, they account for 8% of the total number of financial pyramids identified in the third quarter of 2021. “Some of them are just starting to spin up,” added Lyakh.
How Pyramid Games Work
Such financial pyramids “attract citizens with the possibility of easy money and their simplicity, game form,” explained the head of the Central Bank department: generate income. But, in order to receive a reward or a win, you need to bring new players into the project – as a rule, friends or relatives. ”
The Central Bank called the amount that Russians give to financial pyramids
Thus, the principle of such a game is network marketing, as in pyramid schemes.“If there are no new players, the project stops and is closed. And the money cannot be withdrawn, they had already been withdrawn for you by that time, “Lyakh emphasized, adding that such projects are dangerous,” because both the younger generation and children can suffer here. ” Funds for participation in the project are transferred through a personal account on the site in various ways, including electronic means of payment, cryptocurrencies. “Companies in the user agreements on the site indicate that there are no money-back guarantees, but, as usual, it is written in small letters far below,” – said the head of the department.
In the wake of interest in digital assets, primarily NFT, that is, to non-fungible cryptographic tokens, a huge number of new, including gaming, platforms appear, which the Central Bank regards as financial pyramids, says the managing partner of Ikkert & Partners Law Firm Pavel Ickert. Many, though not all, are, he adds.
According to the lawyer, scammers can build pyramids based on the ideas of one of the first online games using NFT technology – CryptoKitties, created on the basis of the Etherium cryptocurrency. CryptoKitties is an online game developed by the Canadian studio Dapper Labs in which players acquire virtual cats with a unique digital certificate, breed and sell them. The BBC reported that the average cost of such a cat is about $ 250, but can reach millions.
One and a half times more financial pyramids were found in Russia than a year ago
“90% of NFT games are now based on exactly the same principle,” the expert points out.According to him, participants in such a project buy and sell some things inside the game for cryptocurrency, which outside this game have no value and cannot be converted into anything else. “Contingent assets have value only as long as there is demand for them, which is created by the game itself. No game – no demand, the bubble bursts, investors are left with nothing, ”the expert warns. According to him, it is difficult to deal with such projects, because cryptocurrencies provide both decentralization and anonymity, which do not allow either determining the ultimate beneficiaries or tracking financial flows.
“Undoubtedly, the activity and fantasies of fraudsters on the way of inventing more and more schemes for making money are scary,” says Mikhail Alekseev, an expert of the All-Russian Popular Front project “For the Rights of Borrowers”. On the other hand, it is worrying that people might take such investment projects seriously and not as fun, he adds.
How scammers change schemes
In just nine months, the Central Bank has identified 424 financial pyramids, of which 278 in the third quarter. For comparison, in the first three quarters of 2020, the Central Bank recorded the work of 140 pyramids.
- Recently, the activity of fraudsters has also been characterized by the creation of many small “pyramids” working “under one roof. ” “They may have related names, common recognizable details, but the main thing is that all payments go to one pocket or to several related people. This form is used, among other things, in order not to attract the attention of the Bank of Russia and law enforcement agencies to its activities, ”said Valery Lyakh.
- Most pyramids attract money using cryptocurrency or under the guise of investing in it, said the head of the Central Bank department. Such Internet projects offer to “make money” with the help of “unique traders” who can “multiply your money in a very short time”. “This is a classic story of financial fraud, only it is sold under the guise of investments in the stock market or other financial instruments, investments in the crypto market,” he stated. “The high volatility of the cryptocurrency, of course, also attracts people who see that yesterday it cost, for example, $ 1000 per unit, and today it is already 5 times more.”
Rosfinmonitoring announced the elimination of the pyramid that worked with the cryptocurrency
- The most important thing is that as soon as citizens transfer cryptocurrencies or money for cryptocurrency to such Internet projects, these funds immediately end up in fraudsters’ wallets, no one gets anything back, Lyakh concluded.
Signs of a financial pyramid, according to the Central Bank
The promise of return on investment is significantly higher than that offered by banks.
Opaque mechanisms for investing funds in a company offering to invest money through it.
Promise to pay interest on funds received from new members.
The organization does not have a license to operate in the financial market, as well as the lack of information about the company in the registers of the Central Bank.
Theater Magazine. • The power of the unfulfilled
Maxim Sevagin and Konstantin Bogomolov staged Romeo and Juliet at MAMT.
This is not the first time that Prokofiev’s ballet has become a place of work for the choreographer-director tandems invented by the theater directors. Probably, the story is in the history of Romeo and Juliet – the very first performance in Russia, the one that became a legend, was staged by Leonid Lavrovsky together with director Sergei Radlov (1940). Soviet history was in trouble for a long time, frowned, sulked at the sound of Radlov’s name – during the war, the director and his family ended up in the occupation and agreed to work in a theater operating under the Germans; towards the end of the war, the Radlovs left for Paris, from where they were lured away by the call of the Motherland, which brought them directly to the camps (his wife died there, the director survived). And the whole legend of Romeo and Juliet, the entire evolution of the view on staging from a performance on strange music (well, Ulanova did not approve of it yet) to the treasure of Soviet ballet took place when Radlov worked “under the Nazis” and sat out his own near Rybinsk (as a result, eight years instead of the ten awarded, they were released in the cold summer of 1953, but without rehabilitation and without the right to live in Moscow and Leningrad). Therefore, it was not customary to talk about his role – a huge one, judging by the fact that Leonid Lavrovsky had never staged a ballet of equal quality in his entire life – it was not accepted to speak, to figure out who invented what – too. But in the history of the theater, there is still a legend about a previously unprecedented cooperation that gave birth to a masterpiece. When at the end of the twentieth century managers, rather than choreographers, began to make the main decisions in the theater, the idea of such cooperation began to surface again and again. In 2003, the Bolshoi Theater commissioned a performance from Radu Poklitar and Declan Donellan – 31-year-old Radu was then in the status of a rising star of choreography, the older and more experienced Donellan had to guarantee the success of the enterprise.(In 1940-v Lavrovsky was 35, Radlov was also older, more experienced and better known). The result was a vigorous, very emotionally accurate, impetuous performance that promised a new time in the main theater of the country. It was removed pretty soon.
In 2014, a somewhat less successful attempt to exploit this legend happened in the St. Petersburg Theater named after Yakobson – where the performance was entrusted to the recognized director Igor Konyaev and, so far, only the miniatures were staged by 34-year-old Anton Pimonov. The idea of the production was a rivalry between two troupes: the Capulets specialized in classical dance, Montagues in (as it were) modern, it came to murder. The problem was that the “classic” Pimonov imagined real modernity rather vaguely, and the conflict did not look very convincing. Now it’s time to test another debutant “Romeo and Juliet” and collaborate with a famous director. Prokofiev’s ballet at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Musical Theater was entrusted to 24-year-old Maxim Sevagin (the theater’s soloist, who has already made several small-format productions) and Konstantin Bogomolov.
Larisa Lomakina built a gold-walled pavilion on the stage – because now it is not in Verona, but in a certain Golden City, standing on the banks of the Lethe River.Even before we see these very walls (they will remain the only decoration for the entire performance, only sometimes small openings will open in them, and the light will change masterly – and the gold will seem like a stone), a letter from my mother, addressed to Romeo, will float in front of us. From it we learn that she is dying, knows that she will not wait for her son from prison (for which the hero is sitting – it is unknown) and asks not to take revenge on the Capulet clan. (“You can’t bring your sister back”). That is, the director’s work, his distinct handwriting (Bogomolov, as we all know, loves to provide titles for his productions) appears earlier than the first signs of the choreographer’s work.Sevagin “gets the floor” when Romeo (Yevgeny Zhukov) has already been released from prison and is heading to the Golden City. Yes, the time of action is about our time.

In our time, the Capulets are rich (the signs “CapOil”, “MediaCap”, “CapuCola” are glowing with neon above the stage), Romeo is poor (his mother left him an apartment), Mercutio (Georgi Smilewski Jr.) sells drugs ( oh, excuse me, “in dreams” – he’s the “god of dreams”!), Benvolio (Yevgeny Dubrovsky) gathers people to protest rallies, and General Tybalt (Ivan Mikhalev), all in white, disperses these rallies with the help of his subordinates, tightly drawn in black. And Juliet (Zhanna Gubanova) … What Juliet? Just a girl who meets a guy not from her boring circle. When Romeo drags her to a rave party after the wedding, she thinks, “I’m like Audrey Hepburn from Roman Holiday.”
And this – alas – is the only accurate and ridiculous remark in the colossal volume of Bogomolov’s text, which constantly looms on the backdrop.
Last season at the Perm Opera House, Bogomolov staged Carmen – and the rumble of arguments about what can and cannot be done with the classical musical text reached Moscow from the Urals about five minutes after the premiere was played. There, the director walked around in full – tore up the opera text with inserts (including the exemplary performance “A beer house opened on Deribasovskaya”), turned half of the Toreador’s victorious aria into drunken mumbling, and so on, on trifles. Disputes about the (in) implication of the musical text, I must say, are somewhat old-fashioned – well, musical theater is always behind the drama, but there are disputes about whether or not the director can change something in the text of the play or not, stopped in the past. century (let’s leave the Ust-Uryupinsk out of the conversation). The theater creates a new text – well, this is not an axiom in music yet, they understood, listened to “eternally yesterday”, shrugged their shoulders, and went on. And that “Carmen”, full of outstanding malice, became a wonderful event, despite the operations with music. Here, in Romeo, there are no operations, deep respect, the orchestra pit sings and breathes with Prokofiev (bravo to the orchestra leader Timur Zangiev), Bogomolov is full of respect … or is he just too lazy?
Sevagin’s handwriting is very visible in the performance – the handwriting of an unquestionable student of the Academy of Russian Ballet, feeling the boundaries of a possible escape from the world of strict verticals. His performance cannot be called outstanding from the point of view of choreography – there is too much text in it in the commonly used “near-classical” language. But there are just great fragments – the death of Mercutio, for example. General Tybalt disperses a rave in an abandoned workshop and, having caught a drug dealer, stuffs everything he finds in his pockets into his mouth. A monstrous death from an overdose, with glitches, with seconds of enlightenment, with giggling and turning inside out – was done completely without physiology, but at the same time with a reflection of physical (as well as mental) suffering. At the same time, exactly into the music. (True, after her – Tybalt’s death from a “detached blood clot” is so absurd that it causes perplexed chuckles in the hall and catastrophically does not correspond to the music). A seemingly unnecessary plot insert is remembered – at the beginning of the second act there was a scene of a “factory” belonging to the Capulet family. Four of the factory “workers” start their working day … at the invisible “machines”! Ballet machines, there is a fantasy on the theme of daily ballet exercises. And in this scene there is so much charm, so much ridiculous complaint about life (yes, we work like convicts!). This is a good joke for ballet, where the movement is joking, not the word.
The word dulls, mutters and “gives a lecture for collective farmers.” Here comes the decorous duet of Romeo and Juliet, and something in the spirit of “I like you” – “You to me too” is broadcast on the screen. Brothers, who is this “translation” for? When a word tries to comment on events, it turns out even worse – after the death of Mercutio, a variation of Tybalt is played, and on the screen the inscription “Tybalt always dances when he kills.” But in general, they always dance in ballet – when they kill, and when they die, and when they go down the aisle. Is this a discovery for someone? “Romeo is happy because Juliet is unhappy. This is love. ” Listen, but this is already some kind of diary of a seventh grader, and not the work of two adults.
Two adults did not think over too many things, and the responsibility here is largely on Bogomolov – he is more experienced and older, firstly, and in fact, the director (originally supposed) is needed in ballet in order to tell a coherent story, from which periodically flying choreographers depart. Well, here are a couple of simple questions. If Tybalt died himself – why and where is Romeo running and why to poison Juliet? And – excuse me, Juliet believes in God? If so, how can she get married a second time? (The girl marries Paris in the finale) If not – like most teenagers today – why did they even go to church? In many modern productions, Romeo and Juliet do not inform the state and the church about their relationship, which is quite natural for our time. If this moment is important for the directors, it should have been articulated more clearly. If not, come up with another idea.
And in the middle of this uneven and chatty ballet there are a couple of characters, designated in the program as He and She. The artistic director of the ballet of the Musical Theater, the etoile of the Paris Opera Laurent Hilaire and the Mariinsky ballerina Daria Pavlenko, who recently left her native theater, are watching what is happening, dancing a little, hugging, just leaning their shoulders. And they broadcast a class of movement to which all artists (even the best of them, like Smilewski Jr.) still grow and grow. These are probably possibilities – what Romeo and Juliet could become in … twenty years. (This couple and the Romeo-Juliet couple have rhymes in their movements). They understand each other perfectly, giggle slightly at each other and at themselves in their movements, calm and happy. But it didn’t come true.
Types of pockets
Pockets are an element of clothing that is functional and decorative at the same time. All the variety of existing pockets is divided into three groups, large groups: patch pockets, seam pockets and welt pockets.Patch pockets come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes and can dramatically change the look of your garment. The pockets in the seam, on the other hand, are almost invisible, but comfortable and simple in execution. Slit pockets are most often used in classics and require a high level of craftsmanship.
1. Patch pockets.
Patch pockets are cut out of fabric and sewn onto the right side of the garment. They are square, with beveled or rounded corners, as well as various fancy shapes. The surface of the pocket can be flat, with one or several folds, with embroidery, appliqués, etc. Most often, the edges of the pocket are ironed, and then it is sewn with a machine stitch. A more sophisticated and complex processing option is when the pocket is sewn from the inside, and there is no stitching on the front side. Despite the apparent simplicity of the patch pocket, it is a very active element and its size, proportions and location must be carefully checked so as not to disturb the overall composition.
2. Kangaroo pockets.
A variety of patch pockets, most often used in sportswear. These pockets are sewn onto the front of a jacket or sweatshirt.
3. Portfolio pockets.
Unlike flat patch pockets, these pockets have another dimension. Volume is achieved due to strips of fabric (cut-off or one-piece cut) along the bottom and sides (sometimes one side) of the pocket.Such a pocket is associated with military style and most often it can be found on trousers and jackets, however, thanks to the spread of military style, a portfolio pocket now flaunts on any other types of clothing.
4. Seam pockets.
If you need to add a pocket to the product without changing its appearance in any way, use pockets in the seam. Most often, pockets are found in vertical seams – side and raised, but they can also be located in horizontal seams, for example, yokes and even a seam for connecting trousers or a skirt with a belt. The key to the convenience of a pocket in the seam is its location. For example, if the side seam is in its natural position, it may not be very convenient to use the pocket, and then the seam can be moved a little forward.
5. Inclined pocket in the side seam.
Such a pocket is most often found in trousers and shorts, less often in skirts and dresses. The product is trimmed to fit the shape of the pocket, and instead of this part, a cut-off barrel is added. Burlap is sewn to the product and the barrel. This pocket is very convenient and simple enough to perform.
6. Pocket with a leaflet.
A pocket with a leaf is a slit pocket that can be found in any product – jackets, coats, skirts, trousers. Leaves come with set-in or stitching ends, can be straight or oblique. Such a pocket is very beautiful and convenient, but its implementation requires a lot of experience.
7. Framed pocket.
Another type of slit pocket. It looks like a pocket with a leaf in its scope and difficulty of sewing. It happens with and without a valve.
8. Pockets from the main parts of the product.
Pockets of this type are usually made on products that have longitudinal carved shaped lines, and are located on the side of the front between the shaped line and the side seam. The entrance to the pocket – horizontal or inclined – can be decorated with a leaf, flap, shuttlecock, etc.
Types of pockets and gradation of difficulty
What kind of pockets are there? And what are these words such “slotted”, “leaflet”, “shmistochka”.We already have a whole series of articles on this topic, it’s time to do an introductory one. 🙂
Pockets are divided into 2 large groups: internal and external.
External pockets are divided into:
- consignment notes;
- non-slotted;
- slotted.
Examples:
Let’s see which are the simplest and which are the most complex.
The inner pockets are the easiest to use. They are made on the lining of the shelves, hem or in the seam where the lining is stitched to the hem. Most often in men’s clothing.
External patch pockets are light enough. In them, the main part of the product (for example, a shelf) serves as the inner part of the lining. They differ in processing, the shape of the top edge and the entrance to the pocket. There are flat and voluminous. Sometimes performed with a valve.
The top edge of patch pockets can be overcast (cut-off and one-piece) or hemmed on the front and back. The entrance to the pocket can be from the top, from the side, inclined, slotted and supplemented with a zipper. In light clothing, they often go unlined. At the top – with her.
Non-cut pockets: in seams, reliefs or folds of the product, pockets with a cut-off flank – it is already more difficult to sew. The slot is predetermined by the product design. The processing consists in shaping the entrance to the pocket and attaching the lining. They can be decorated without or with finishing details. For example, a pocket in a seam with a leaf (a detail that decorates and covers the entrance to a pocket) or a flap (a separate inverted detail). Also, a pocket in the seam can be zipped.
Slit pockets are one of the most difficult, because there is a risk of ruining the entire product, and you need to be very careful.
