What makes Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip Lacrosse Camp so prestigious. How can high school players get invited to participate. What do college coaches look for at this elite recruiting event.
The Prestigious Jake Reed Nike Blue Chip Lacrosse Camp
Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip Lacrosse Camp has established itself as one of the premier showcases for elite high school lacrosse talent. Held annually in the fall and summer, this invitation-only camp brings together some of the most promising young players from across the country to compete in front of top college coaches.
The camp offers a unique opportunity for high school lacrosse players to demonstrate their skills and potentially catch the eye of recruiters from major NCAA programs. But what exactly makes this camp so prestigious, and how can aspiring players earn a coveted spot?
The Selection Process: Getting Invited to Blue Chip
Earning an invitation to Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip camp is a highly selective process. Here’s how it works:
- Players must submit a highlight reel for consideration
- Each reel is personally reviewed by camp director Jake Reed
- There is a $100 fee for highlight reel submission
- Only graduating classes 2017-2020 are eligible
- Selected players may be invited to the Fall and/or Summer events
The Fall 2016 camp was held on November 19th in Millersville, Maryland. While traditionally focused solely on recruiting, the Fall camp now also serves as a tryout opportunity for the Summer event.
What Makes a Standout Submission?
In a Q&A, Jake Reed provided insight into what he looks for when reviewing player footage:
“We look for a combination of athletic ability, lacrosse fundamentals and lacrosse IQ (how you play with and without the ball).”
This highlights the importance of showcasing not just physical skills, but also game intelligence and off-ball movement in highlight reels.
The Blue Chip Experience: What to Expect
So you’ve been invited to Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip camp – what comes next? Here’s what participants can expect:
- Intense competition against other elite high school players
- Multiple games over a 2-day period
- Observation by coaches from top NCAA lacrosse programs
- Opportunity to showcase skills in game situations
- Chance to measure up against the nation’s best talent
The camp provides a unique environment where players can truly test themselves against top-tier competition while under the watchful eye of college recruiters.
College Recruitment at Blue Chip: Who’s Watching?
One of the main draws of Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip camp is the presence of college coaches. But which programs typically attend?
At recent events, coaches have been spotted from a wide range of prestigious lacrosse programs, including:
- Ivy League: Harvard, Yale, Brown, Penn, Princeton, Cornell, Dartmouth
- ACC: Duke, North Carolina, Syracuse
- Other Top Programs: Loyola, Denver, Georgetown, Ohio State
- Service Academies: Army, Navy
- Emerging Programs: High Point, Furman, Boston University, Richmond
This diverse mix of established powerhouses and up-and-coming programs offers opportunities for players of various skill levels and academic profiles.
Standout Performances: What Catches Coaches’ Eyes?
While raw athletic ability is important, college coaches at Blue Chip are looking for well-rounded players who can contribute in multiple ways. Some key attributes that have impressed in past camps include:
- Excellent stick skills and ball control
- High lacrosse IQ and field awareness
- Ability to play well off-ball
- Strong dodging and change-of-direction ability
- Precision in setting up teammates
- Hustle on rides and in transition
Players who can demonstrate these skills consistently over multiple games tend to stand out to recruiters.
Position-Specific Standouts
Different positions naturally require different skill sets. Here are some examples of what has impressed at recent Blue Chip camps:
Attack
Dawson McKenzie (Culver Military ’15) caught attention with his excellent stick skills and off-ball movement, particularly his ability to finish in tight spaces. J.P. Crowley (St. Thomas Aquinas ’15) showcased strong dodging ability from X and an accurate outside shot.
Midfield
Two-way midfielders who can contribute on both ends of the field are highly valued. Players who demonstrated strong dodging ability, field vision, and defensive hustle particularly impressed coaches.
Defense
Defenders who can effectively guard elite attackmen while also contributing in transition and clearing situations tend to stand out. Communication skills and lacrosse IQ are also crucial for defensive standouts.
Goalie
Beyond just making saves, goalies who showed strong clearing ability, communication skills, and the ability to direct the defense caught the eye of recruiters.
The Evolving Landscape of Lacrosse Recruitment
Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip camp has been running since 2001, giving its organizers a unique perspective on how lacrosse recruitment has changed over time. Reed notes a significant shift in the timing of recruitment:
“When I first started in 2001, coaches were only recruiting rising seniors with a few exceptions. Then, they went to rising juniors. Now, they are recruiting rising sophomores.”
This trend towards earlier recruitment underscores the importance of camps like Blue Chip in identifying and showcasing young talent.
The Impact of Early Recruitment
The shift towards recruiting younger players has had several effects on the lacrosse landscape:
- Increased pressure on high school players to perform early
- Greater emphasis on youth and club lacrosse programs
- More importance placed on early exposure events like Blue Chip
- Potential for burnout among young athletes
- Challenges in accurately projecting long-term potential
As the recruitment timeline continues to evolve, events like Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip camp play an increasingly crucial role in connecting young talent with college programs.
Maximizing the Blue Chip Opportunity
For players lucky enough to earn an invitation to Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip camp, it’s crucial to make the most of the opportunity. Here are some tips for success:
- Prepare physically and mentally before the camp
- Play your game – don’t try to be something you’re not
- Demonstrate hustle and effort in all aspects of play
- Show good sportsmanship and team play
- Be coachable and receptive to feedback
- Stay focused even when not on the field
- Follow up with interested coaches after the event
Remember, while performance at the camp is important, it’s just one part of the overall recruitment process. Consistent play throughout your high school career, academic performance, and character all play crucial roles in college recruitment.
Beyond Blue Chip: Other Elite Lacrosse Showcases
While Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip camp is undoubtedly prestigious, it’s not the only high-level showcase for lacrosse talent. Other notable events include:
- Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Camp
- Maverick Showtime
- Adrenaline Black Card Showcase
- NXT Showcase
- Bitter Lacrosse Camp
Each of these events offers unique opportunities for exposure and development. Many players attend multiple showcases to maximize their chances of being seen by college coaches.
Choosing the Right Showcases
When deciding which showcases to attend, consider factors such as:
- Your skill level and readiness
- The specific colleges you’re interested in
- Timing in relation to your recruitment process
- Cost and travel requirements
- Feedback from coaches and mentors
Remember, quality often trumps quantity when it comes to showcases. It’s better to perform well at a few well-chosen events than to spread yourself too thin trying to attend every possible showcase.
The Future of Elite Lacrosse Showcases
As the sport of lacrosse continues to grow and evolve, so too will the landscape of elite showcases like Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip camp. Some trends to watch for include:
- Increased use of technology for player evaluation and recruitment
- Greater emphasis on multi-dimensional athletes
- More specialized showcases for specific positions or playing styles
- Growing importance of academic performance alongside athletic ability
- Potential for virtual or hybrid showcase events
Despite these changes, the fundamental goal of these showcases remains the same: to connect the best young lacrosse talent with top college programs.
The Enduring Importance of Blue Chip
Even as the lacrosse landscape evolves, Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip camp is likely to remain a cornerstone of elite player development and recruitment. Its long-standing reputation, rigorous selection process, and track record of attracting top talent and college coaches ensure its continued relevance.
For aspiring college lacrosse players, earning an invitation to Blue Chip represents not just an opportunity for exposure, but a validation of their hard work and talent. It’s a chance to test themselves against the best of their peers and to take a significant step towards their dream of playing at the collegiate level.
As Jake Reed himself notes, the success of Blue Chip comes down to a simple formula: “We work hard at finding the best players from all over the country, which brings the top coaches to watch.” This commitment to excellence has made Blue Chip a vital part of the lacrosse recruitment ecosystem, and will likely continue to do so for years to come.

Recruiting: Jake Reed’s Fall Nike Blue Chip 2014 and 2015 Recap
A few hundred of the nation’s best players from the class of 2014 and 2015 were on hand for Jake Reed’s third annual fall Nike Blue Chip showcase on the campus of Queens University in Charlotte, N. C.
Split up by class, the recruits participated in five games between early Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon before heading home. Among college coaches spotted: Loyola, Duke, North Carolina, Syracuse, Denver, Harvard, Yale, Brown, Penn, Princeton, Cornell, Georgetown, Ohio State, Dartmouth, Colgate, Army, Navy, Bucknell, Hofstra, Fairfield and Michigan. New programs High Point, Furman, Boston U. and Richmond were all present as well.
Attack
It’s certainly no surprise that the most dependable finisher all weekend was a Canadian. Dawson McKenzie (Culver Military ’15, Ind.) was phenomenal in tight quarters, showcasing an excellent stick and off-ball movement. Isn’t a dodger by any means but could fill the net on a regular basis. A recent Towson commit, J.P. Crowley (St. Thomas Aquinas ’15, Fla.) raised his stock in my book. His size, slickness and smarts are legit, and he could beat his man from X without much problem. Strong shot from the outside, and worked well in tandem with Colton Rupp (Landon ’15, Md. ) and Matthew Hahn (Avon Old Farms ’15, Conn.). Just a few days after verballing to Duke, Joe Manown (La Salle Academy ’15, R.I.) made the trip down and impressed. His change of direction is excellent, making him tough to stop around GLE. Did a good job of dodging with his head up and finding the open man, but will need to work on riding harder consistently going forward. Riley O’Sullivan (Don Bosco Prep ’15, N.J.) had a nice weekend, dodging with precision and setting up his teammates. A tad undersized but a strong recruit who is also a nice asset in the riding game.
When I watched them, the 2014 attackmen didn’t catch my eye a ton, but there were a few standouts. Though listed as a midfielder, Alex Kelly (Brunswick ’14, Conn.) played attack and dazzled, tallying four goals and an assist in the game I checked out. He demonstrated an impressive lacrosse IQ, not forcing any passes and taking smart shots. Liked using the roll dodge but could also score off the catch and shoot effectively. His prep teammate Cameron Stafford (Brunswick ’14, Conn.), a lefty, put together a few nice games as well, scoring multiple goals.
Others Who Impressed: Alec Orazietti (Mountain Lakes ’15, N.J.), Conor Walters (Lake Forest ’15, Ill.), Jacob Shaver (Deep Run ’14, Va.), Joe Rodrigues (Bellarmine Prep ’14, Calif.), Michael Kraus (New Canaan ’15, Conn.), Alex Roesner (Loyola Blakefield ’15, Md.)
Midfield
Keith Mahler (St. Andrew’s ’15, Fla.) was impressive all weekend, excelling in transition and showing off a super quick release. Mahler’s vision was also strong, dishing it off when the slide came. His older brother, Grant, is a senior bound for Cornell. I also liked Jared Warner (Baldwin ’15, N.Y.), who showed not only the ability to get by his man, but toughness on groundballs and a heavy shot. Though fairly raw, I enjoyed watching Connor Slomka (Pine-Richland ’15, Pa. ) play. His athleticism sticks out – one college coach sitting next to me compared Slomka in transition to him performing a punt return. Hustled on groundballs and buckled down on defense as well. I’m told he runs a 4.5 forty and ran for over 1,000 yards this football season. Also liked Patrick Brandell (Westminster ’15, Conn.), an Illinois native who could get by his man, scoop GB’s and shoot with precision at times. Though top FOGOs aren’t exactly prevalent at Jake Reed’s events, Liam Lynch (Bronxville ’15, N.Y.) stood out, doing a great job popping the ball forward to himself.
Patrick Fraser (Dexter ’14, Mass.) was without a doubt one of the top juniors in Charlotte this weekend. The lefty possesses ideal size and athleticism, a nice array of dodges and can also take face-offs. Has a cannon of a shot as well, scoring a pair of goals in the Sunday morning session. Paul Houck (Allentown Central ’14, Pa.) got the job done throughout the weekend. Didn’t have one skill that stood out above the rest but showed he could put the ball in the back of the net. Benjamin Kennedy (St. Andrew’s ’14, Fla.) was another awesome scorer in the Sunday morning games, notching four goals – all on bouncers too, if I’m not mistaken. Really nice player who impressed in between the lines and could separate.
Others Who Impressed: Reed Malas (Mamaroneck ’15, N.Y.), Patrick Brandell (Westminster ’15, Conn.), P.J. Bell (Noble & Greenough ’14, Mass.), Jonathan Gibbs (Redwood ’14, Calif.), Charlie Cobb (Brunswick ’15, Conn.),
defense
Parker Widhelm (St. Christopher’s ’15, Va.) struck me as a nice defenseman, having nicely executed checks, a good stick and performing well in the clearing game. Jake Moran (Naperville Central ’14, Ill.) used his body aptly, causing a few turnovers but also showing off a strong stick and athleticism while moving the ball upfield to the offense. Conor Alexander (Jupiter ’15, Fla.) showcased excellent footwork, ranginess and a general awareness that helped his team’s defense. From what I’ve heard, he’s getting big time looks. I was also impressed by James Leary (Governor’s Academy ’15, Mass.), who was always around the ball, using his stick to wreak havoc. The junior was great on GB’s, and had an assist in the game I watched.
Others Who Impressed: Stephen Gottlieb (Penn Charter ’14, Pa.), Theo Dol (Avon Old Farms ’15, Conn.), Hayden Lovett (Broughton ’15, N.C.), Michael Langdon (Cranbook ’15, Mich.), Ben Stevens (Dulaney ’15, Md.), Dylan Johnson (Cherry Creek ’15, Colo.)
Goalie
Jonathan Anastos (New Trier ’15, Ill.) looked good in the first two games on Saturday, demonstrating quick reflexes and a strong technique. The lefty was also awesome out of the goal. Jacob Stover (McDonogh ’15, Md.) had a nice command of the defenders in front of him and shut the door on a bevy of low shots, catching the eye of recruiters.
James Superka (Garden City ’14, N.Y.) struck me as an ‘under the radar’ type who did a great job despite limited minutes, as each junior squad carried three goalies. Possessing quick hands, he read the shooters well and made several stops that he shouldn’t have made. I liked what I saw out of Anders Haaland (Chapel Hill ’14, N.C.), who made some excellent saves and communicated well. Will need to touch up on his clearing going forward, but is a nice prospect nonethless.
Others Who Impressed: Woody Hamilton (Deerfield Academy ’14, Mass.), Eric Buhle (St. Anne’s Belfield ’15, Va.)

Bronson Ban, Kalil Scales Shine at Nike Blue Chip
Sophomores Bronson Ban (Los Alamitos) and Kalil Scales (Tesoro) were recognized as standouts at the Jake Reed Fall Nike Blue Chip camp in November. The invitation-only recruiting event was held at the Matthews Sportsplex in Matthews, N.C.
Luke Christiansen who attended the event on behalf of 3d-Rising reports that “every player in attendance at a Jake Reed event has been individually vetted by Jake himself or through trusted contacts. Reed’s events claim to have sent 90% of their players to Division I programs since he began organizing them in 2001. Up and coming talent from around the country traveled to the south for the chance to make an impression on big time college coaches. Denver, Syracuse, Cornell, Maryland, Navy, Michigan and North Carolina are just a few of the top programs that regularly frequent this prestigious recruiting event. ”
Christiansen’s notes on Ban and Scales are presented below.
Bronson Ban, Midfield, Los Alamitos (Calif.)/3d Los Angeles, 2018
This midfielder was a force facing off and also proved to be a scoring threat on offense. He began the game winning the face straight away and pushing the ball up field dishing it for a nice goal. He continued to win the next several face-offs straight out front. Once the opposition attempted to adjust, Ban used his strength to win the face back to himself, and moved the ball up the field to a wing. In set plays he showed well catching the ball on the wing, selling a nice hitch to commit the defender then finishing high and to the far side.
Kalil Scales Midfield, Tesoro (Calif.)/ 3d Orange County, 2018
Scales showed great athletic ability during the event, and provided some of the more enjoyable plays to see. While on defense he knocked the ball from the offensive player and scooped the ground ball while under pressure from two opponents. He then cleared the ball up the wing making a mesmerizing jump cut on the wing to blow by two opponents then made a nice pass to his attackman. On offense showcased his scoring ability making an alley dodge and rocketing the shot into the top corner.

2019 Killebrew Award Winner – Jake Reed (Rochester Red Wings) – Minors
Jake Reed was the Twins fifth-round pick in 2015 out of the University of Oregon. He quickly moved up the organizational ladder and reached Triple-A Rochester last in the 2016 season. He is still awaiting the opportunity to take the next step, the biggest step, up to the big leagues.
But Jake Reed is beloved in Rochester. That is especially true of the Red Wings general manager Dan Mason who noted, “Once again this year, Jake led our team in appearances, going to schools, corporate events, hospitals, community events, youth baseball clinics, a clinic for mentally challenged kids, and he helped host the the Challenger Baseball World Series here, featuring 10 different Challenger Baseball teams playing here at Frontier Field on a Saturday in June.”
As you can see from the list at the bottom, there have been some really terrific people who have come through Rochester and been recognized with this award. Lefty reliever Logan Darnell won the award the three seasons before Jake Reed won his first in 2018.
Mason continued, “The thing that separates Jake from some of the other players we’ve had here in the past is that he has built an amazing rapport with so many of the people whose lives he has touched in our town. At almost every home game I would see Challenger Baseball players coming over to him to say hello and getting a hug or a high five from him either before or after the game. So many of the kids in Challenger baseball program locally got to know him so well because every Saturday that we had a home game he would drive over to their field about 25 minutes from Frontier Field and spend hours , without ever telling any of us in the front office, pitching to the kids and helping them hit or wheeling them around the bases in their wheelchairs.“
Mason shared one story that certainly represents Reed and the impact he has on people’s lives. .
“One story that truly stands out to me is that earlier this year we had a mentally challenged youngster sing the National Anthem before a game. He knew Jake through Challenger Baseball. That particular game we were playing the Syracuse Mets and Tim Tebow was on their team. After the anthem was done the young man said to me, ‘Mr Mason, I really want to meet Tim Tebow. He’s my favorite. Can you get him over here so I can say hi?” I explained that I couldn’t do that as he was getting ready for the game, and that I couldn’t bother him as he was warming up. The young man replied …” I’m gonna talk to Jake about this.’ At that moment, Jake started walking toward us and waved out toward left field where Tebow was warming up. At that point, Tebow came running over to say hello to the young man, chatted with him, hugged him and took a few photos with him. Little did I know, but Jake knew that this young man’s favorite player was Tim Tebow, and he had arranged everything with Tebow prior to the game. This is the sort of unselfish act that Jake did on a daily basis. With little to no fanfare. He created countless memories for kids in our community throughout the season.”
Jake Reed has a very strong support system around him with his family, but also with his wife Janie Reed. Janie has been a member of Team USA softball and helped the team to a couple of gold medals this summer, including at the Pan Am Games.
Mason said, “When we hosted our first ever Women in Sports night, he even convinced his wife Janie, who was in town, to help run a pregame softball clinic for girls. Janie is a member of Team USA softball.”
As you have seen, the Twins and their minor league affiliates all take a ton of pride in their work in the communities in which they play.
“Every kid has boyhood idols. Tons and tons of young Minnesotans look up to and idolize Joe Mauer and other Twins players. Well, here in Rochester, New York, there is a huge segment of kids who idolize Jake Reed because they feel like he’s their friend, and he is. Jake is as genuine a person as you’ll ever meet and he doesn’t just do community activities and appearances because we asked him to, he does it because he wanted to.”
I was unable to reach Jake this week, but this is what he said last year when he received this award. “But getting this reward definitely reminded me of why God actually has me playing this game. It’s not about baseball. It really isn’t. It’s about loving and serving the people that you come into contact with, and the great thing about baseball is it gives us players plenty of opportunity to do so. I think men like Harmon Killebrew have set the example for us as far as what it looks like to be more than a baseball player.”
Minor league players don’t get many days off from games throughout the long season. They don’t get a ton of free time. That’s why we choose to recognize these Harmon KIllebrew Award winners who were chosen by their team for going above and beyond to serve their communities during the season.
Previous Red Wings Killebrew Award winners:

90,000 US Blue Chips
Almost every investor who comes to the stock market immediately comes across the term “blue chips”. However, most investors still do not fully understand what its meaning is, and where and how to look at the list of blue chips.
Indeed, the concept of “blue chips” is a somewhat informal and informal concept. There is no clear-cut list of blue-chip stocks. This definition is not assigned by the exchange, and the very concept of “blue chips” is also sometimes interpreted in different ways.
In this article, we will clarify the main points that relate to the definition of blue chips in the US market. In particular:
Let’s consider the definition of “blue chips” in the US market and how it should be understood.
Let’s consider the main criteria that determine the sign of “blue chips”.
In practice, we will form a list of blue-chip US stocks.
Let’s figure out whether it is worth investing in blue chips on the American market.
The concept of “blue chips” in the US market
The very concept and term “blue chips” came to the stock market from poker, where the most attractive and valuable chips were denoted by a similar term.
With regard to stocks, the concept of “blue chips” can be interpreted as follows – these are the most popular and demanded shares of the largest US companies on the market. It is important to understand and not confuse the concept of popularity and relevance of shares with the concept of investment attractiveness of securities.
Stocks on the market can be popular and in demand for various reasons. These can be speculatively “traded” securities, local flows of large index funds can be directed into shares. Quotes of these shares may also grow, but at the same time, in terms of their fundamental indicators, these may be completely unattractive securities, and their growth may not be supported by their financial indicators.
Blue Chip Criteria for the US Market
So, let’s note the main market criteria that determine the blue-chip criterion for stocks in the US market.
Index Papers
Blue-chip stocks must be index securities, that is, they must be included in one or more non-composite stock indices (broad market indices). There are two of the most important and representative stock indices in the US market. These are the S & P500 index (you can read more about this index in our article “The S & P500 Index”) and the NASDAQ 100 index. These indices include the largest American companies in terms of capitalization.
Why is index entry so important for blue-chip stocks? The thing is that on the basis of these two indices, most of the ETF funds (“ETF funds”) are formed, which are compiled on the principle of complete physical duplication of the stock index. This is a real physical duplication of the index, that is, the operator of the ETF must buy the securities included in the index on the market, and in the future, fully monitor and repeat the structure of the index. This provides physical demand for securities, makes shares in demand, increases their liquidity and increases trading volumes. According to the same criterion, shares can be included and excluded from the list of blue chips, depending on whether the shares are included or excluded from the stock index.
ESG Investment
The world is changing rapidly, and new conditions are emerging that define blue-chip stocks. One of these new conditions is ESG investment standards. The abbreviation ESG is taken from the English words “Environmental, Social, Governance”, which translates as “environmental friendliness, social responsibility and the policy of public values.”
Now companies in the US market are officially assigned the ESG standard, that is, these are companies that are fighting for the environment (reducing harmful emissions, increasing the environmental friendliness of production), showing social responsibility (occupational safety and health, improving working conditions, social protection and gender equality), adhere to principles of state values (anti-corruption, tax policy, donations and membership in various charitable foundations).
Why is ESG investing so critical for blue-chip stocks? Again, this concerns the demand for shares and the inflow of capital into them. The thing is that the investment policy of the overwhelming majority of ETF funds, mutual funds, hedge funds in the United States introduces a barrier criterion for investing only in companies that meet ESG standards. This directly affects the flows of funds of funds, and naturally they are more directed to companies that meet ESG standards, which in turn makes such shares more demanded in the market, they have more liquidity and higher trading volumes.
90,041 Company capitalizations 90,042
Only the largest companies in terms of market capitalization are included in blue chips. Indirectly, the fact that the company has a high capitalization confirms its entry into the index, since the principles of formation of most market indices are the inclusion of the most capitalized companies in the market. Companies with a market capitalization of more than US $ 100 billion can be considered to qualify for the US blue-chip market. With such capitalizations, the company is guaranteed to get into most market indices.
90,041 Liquidity and trading turnover in shares 90,042
You can read about what liquidity is in our short reference book of exchange terms “Dictionary of financial terms”.
First of all, the high liquidity of the shares and the large trading turnover indicate that the paper is interesting from a speculative point of view. This has both advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, liquid stocks can always be bought and sold easily, because there is always supply and demand for them, and the difference between the supply and demand prices is small. This constant demand is provided precisely by speculators who are ready in the same second of time to buy and sell these shares. On the other hand, it “rocks the boat”, such stocks are usually more volatile and react more sharply to all general market trends.
In general, it can be noted that if previously the criterion of liquidity and trading volume was paramount in terms of defining blue-chip stocks, now this criterion is receding into the background.Indirectly, high liquidity of securities and high turnovers on them ensure the criteria for getting into the stock index and compliance with ESG investment standards. Indeed, it is precisely in such stocks that the multibillion-dollar cash flows of the largest investment funds are directed, and primarily ETF funds, which have significantly changed market realities in just a couple of decades. Knowing this, speculators also come to such stocks, providing liquidity and a high trading turnover.
List of blue-chip US stocks
Since the concept of “blue chips” is still an unofficial term, there is no pre-prepared and approved list for it that a novice investor could use. Many investors take a simpler option and simply accept all stocks included in the S & P500 index or the NASDAQ 100 index (not to be confused with the also popular NASDAQ Composite index) as blue chips, but this is still not a completely correct approach, which is not takes into account all criteria for blue-chip stocks.
Manually in the US market, where several thousand shares are circulating, it is extremely problematic to form such a list. Therefore, in this case, to determine the list of blue chips, we can use the professional investment service Fin-Plan RADAR.
This service has all the necessary list of filters to select stocks according to various criteria, applying a variety of investment strategies, forming and rebalancing investment portfolios. Among other things, the service filters can be configured in such a way as to make a selection of the blue-chip stocks.
In investment filters, we can set and indicate all the necessary criteria for the selection of blue-chip stocks, such as: entry into the S & P500 index, compliance with ESG investment standards and a market capitalization of over $ 100 billion.dollars.
As a result, we have a formed list of 75 American stocks that can be considered “blue chips”. These are highly liquid shares of the largest US companies that are in demand from index funds.
At the same time, the shares in this list are ranked by capitalization, that is, at the very top of the list are the world’s largest companies with the largest market capitalization. These are names such as:
You can see the full list of blue-chip stocks in our Fin-Plan service RADAR – US Blue Chips. Also, this ready-made grouping has been added to our stock screener. It can be displayed with one key click:
Should you invest in US blue-chip stocks?
This question is asked by the majority of investors who have determined for themselves a list of such shares. After all, it should be understood that the inclusion of a stock in the list of “blue chips” does not mean its investment attractiveness. This only suggests that the stock is liquid, it can be bought and sold easily and without significant losses. Many speculative players carry out operations with a stock, which means that the stock will be more volatile. Also, the stock is interesting for index funds, which in a certain period can provide support for securities.
However, this is still not enough to determine whether there is an investment interest in such shares or not.
Using the Fin-Plan RADAR investment service, we can solve this problem by choosing only investment-attractive shares from the list of blue chips.
For this, a certain investment strategy can be additionally applied to the list of blue chips, which is aimed at choosing investment-attractive stocks with specific internal sources of growth.
Having chosen the strategy “Not overheated growth”, we can filter out only those stocks, the growth rates of which correspond to the growth rates of the company’s financial results. That is, the growth of these shares is justified and supported by the growth of profits of these companies. The strategy automatically sets the investment filter settings based on the company’s profit growth rate and the PEG multiplier, which allows you to compare the growth rate of the stock and the company’s financial results. In this case, the investor can already say unequivocally that these shares are not “overheated” and do not represent an investment “bubble”.
Applying this strategy, the list of 75 blue chips shrinks to 6 stocks, but these are stocks whose growth is supported by equally good growth in financial results.
Investing in such securities is much more productive and safer over a long period of time. This can be easily verified in history. To do this, from a selected list of six securities, we will form an investment portfolio with approximately equal shares of securities and conduct its historical testing. We will compare the results of the portfolio capital dynamics with the dynamics of the S & P500 market index, which will allow us to assess the effectiveness of the compiled investment portfolio.
In this case, we see that the historical dynamics of the portfolio in terms of profitability outstrips the market index. This is also confirmed by portfolio investment ratios, which measure the risk to return ratio of an investment portfolio.
Conclusions
Extremely simple investment schemes, such as buying ETFs on a market index or buying only blue-chip stocks, are not the most effective and efficient investment methods. As a rule, they carry in themselves more potential risks than benefits to the investor and may seem to be workable only for certain periods of time.
In order to minimize market risks and obtain the best investment result, each investor must acquire new knowledge about how the market functions and how to choose the most investment-attractive assets on it. We teach how to do this in our courses for preparing investors from scratch to the professional level “School of the smart investor”, and you can instantly implement all the acquired knowledge and investment strategies in our Fin-Plan RADAR investment web service.

The Celtics are in good shape to win the championship, but Utah Jazz Louis Scott has shown amazing results to force Game 7 of the NBA Finals.
They become desperate and kidnap star jazz player Lewis Scott to make sure their team wins the decisive game.
There is a nice twist at the end of this film, but it doesn’t make sense of the Celtics culture.
9. Space Jam
- Release Date: 1996
- IMDb Rating: 6.4
Space Jam is probably the best basketball movie for young basketball fans of the 90s.

8.Love and basketball.
- Release Date: 2000
- IMDb Rating: 7.2
Love and basketball depict the deep connection of two athletes with each other and with basketball.
Moreover, the film is a mixture of love and basketball. In films, the emphasis is on life lessons, and not on the main or main thing.
Quincy McCall (Omar Epps) and Monica Wright (Sanna Lathan) are neighbors who dream of playing professional basketball.
They both received basketball scholarships from the University of Southern California, graduating from high school as good players.
Being the son of former NBA player McCall is great promise, but Monica was a late addition to the USC class.
Despite the fact that they had a relationship even before hiring, they both broke up in college. However, they later reunite with each other.
In short, the films show that college athletes can resist pressure, even if they are the best recruits or underappreciated players, and how often relationships fade into the background because of the game they love.

Vsevolod Kuznetsov – dubbing director, actor, dubbing
Born on February 25, 1970 in the city of Alma-Ata into a family of engineers. As a child, he often parodied cartoon characters and domestic artists. He graduated from school with a gold medal.
At the age of 17 he moved to Moscow. He entered the Higher Theater School named after MS Schepkin for the course of Yuri Solomin, graduated in 1991 with a degree in theater and film actor, studied with actress Alla Kluka and future dubbing colleague Vasily Dakhnenko. Subsequently, he taught there the skill of an actor, at the moment he teaches the art of dubbing films.
At the dawn of his career (in the early 90s) he worked at the Moscow Art Theater with Tatyana Doronina for two and a half years.
In 1995, together with Olga Solomina, he came to the Pythagoras dubbing studio, which at that time was functioning in the building of the Shchepkinsky School, to get the phonogram for the graduation performance. At that time, the studio was dubbing the Disney animated series The Little Mermaid, directed by Marina Aleksandrova. Kuznetsov showed her his ability to parody. The next day, February 25, 1995, Vsevolod Kuznetsov was invited to “Pythagoras” to voice episodic characters in another animated series Walt Disney Television Animation “Nutty” under the direction of Irina Filimonova, and then in “The Little Mermaid”.Thus began his dubbing career.
The first main dubbed film role of Kuznetsov was Will Smith in “Men in Black”, who was entrusted to him by Yaroslava Turyleva, “his teacher” in the big dub. After that was Vince Vaughn in Jurassic Park 2 and The Fifth Element.
At the moment, Vsevolod Kuznetsov is “fixed” on the dubbing (which means that these actors are invited to voice, as a rule, him): Keanu Reeves, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt; also voiced Antonio Banderas and Rafe Fiennes in a number of films (the latter – in the film “Onegin”, a series of films about Harry Potter).
Vsevolod Kuznetsov has several favorite roles:
I really enjoyed working with “Benjamin Button” – the director and performer; over the movie Meet Joe Black. The film itself was not well received by critics in the United States, although in our country, I know, many people love it.
Onegin Ralph Fiennes from the film of the same name also won me over as an actor. For example, with our wonderful dubbing director Yaroslava Turyleva to a monologue from letters to Tatiana, which in the original sound offscreen, naturally, in prose, we specially selected original pieces in verse.
In 2000-2002, commented on the wrestling “WWE Smackdown!” on the channel “STS” in tandem with Alexander Novikov. Was the “voice” of the TNT TV channel from October 2002 to March 2008, later left of his own free will.
Filmed in the Athens School TV program, a program about ancient philosophers for the Culture channel, which was filmed in Italy, Turkey, Tunisia and Jordan.
In addition to acting, Vsevolod Borisovich is a dubbing director and author of a synchronous text (“stacker”) at the Pythagoras and Mosfilm-Master studios.Reads text in documentaries for NTV and Russia-1 TV channels. She also provides voice overs for commercials, while fundamentally rejecting political advertising.
Author of the word “chpoknutsya” (“American Pie”) and nicknames that the heroes of the movie “I Love You, Dude” call themselves.
In December 2013, I read a poem by Alexei Tsvetkov “I had a dream” for the project “The Modest Charm of a Potbelly Stove” within the framework of Novaya Gazeta. Two years later he took part in the television marathon “War and Peace.Reading a novel “on the Kultura TV channel.
In 2020, he took part in the Weak Link TV program.
Wife – Elena Kuznetsova (virgin Bukina), in the past – a sound engineer at the SV-Double studio. There is a son Alexander (b. 2006) and daughters Catherine and Maria (b. 2010).
