Medicine of the future ǀ L&R USA
Will patients or specific risk groups start using wearables in order to detect diseases at an earlier stage, and to seek out treatment sooner? Will the doctors of the future use artificial intelligence as an additional resource for diagnosis and treatment? Can big data and artificial intelligence help us in the search for new medicines and treatment approaches? Can we really achieve quantum leaps in global health? You don’t have to be a prophet to be in a position to answer these questions with a resounding yes. The possibilities opening up to us due to the interplay between technical digitalisation, collection, storage and analysis of mass data, and self-learning algorithms seem endless.
The US market research company Frost & Sullivan has predicted that the market for AI systems in the healthcare sector will grow to 6 billion dollars by 2022. That represents an increase of 800%. This trend will have repercussions for the medical device sector too. That is to say that, conversely, no company will be able to afford to miss out on the advantages offered by digital, data-based approaches for their new products and patient-care services.
This is particularly true for European companies which have by no means given up in the race with the US data giants, known as ‘GAFA’ (Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple). Recently, the EU commissioner Thierry Breton called for a battle response by Europeans against the seemingly unassailable US alliance. Europe has already missed out on the first wave of the digital business model: companies from the US and China dominate in the area of online user data. With the digitalisation of industry, traffic, and healthcare, a
“new wave is coming, and we must be in a position to ride this wave”,
Breton explained to the Handelsblatt newspaper in January 2020.
We are reminded of David and Goliath, and every child will know all too well how that tale ended. There is a need, however, for the legal and political framework to undergo further changes. Without doubt we are seeing questions of data protection in relation to digital medicine high up on the agenda, but now there is also a great deal of discussion on how these data sets can be put to good use. The usage possibilities in the field of medicine are varied, and acceptance of big data is particularly high in this field. An important fact remains, even despite high sensitivities around this topic: the more tangible the benefits are, the higher the levels of approval even from people who are generally critical of digital revolution (source: The Big Data Debate 2019, p. 157). Public databases are being established which can be used for medical research, and data sharing is catching on within sectors: it is these developments, already a reality, which will dramatically change attitudes towards big data.
People often forget that it is the customer or the patient themselves who drive this development. The upward trend for self-improvement with smart watches, intelligent treadmills or wearables, which can measure heart rate, body temperature or oxygen saturation, is unwavering. Complement this with additional data, such as blood type, allergies, and previous illnesses, and we end up with a data pool which patients can use to draw their own conclusions, acting like doctors. But these technologies are not just for the cool self-improvers out there, but, fascinatingly, they can also be used to improve self-autonomy of the elderly, or in those suffering from physical disabilities.
Digital prevention, diagnosis, monitoring of disease progress, and supporting of care services: these perspectives will bring significant changes for the medical device segment, above all providing a boost to innovative growth. That also means, however, that the medical device sector will become a more challenging environment: if not for any other reason than the breath-taking speed at which mass data can be accrued, with data-driven applications running through cycle after cycle of innovation. At the same time, it will become more and more difficult to predict what will come next. Like it or not, that is something which all players on the market will have to get used to. Indeed, the digital medicine era is no longer just a vision, but has already begun.
Hype Energy drink targets US with Kim Kardashian, Candice Swanepoel
Unlike some other new energy drink market entrants, says Hype Energy USA president John Jansheski, Hype Energy has a proven track record of success in other markets. In fact, the brand been around for almost as long as Red Bull, first hitting the market in the 1990s and subsequently gaining a footing in more than 40 countries from Canada and Spain to Iran and Nigeria.
But until this year, it has not had a meaningful presence in the US, says Jansheski, who founded the DenTek oral health business in the 1980s and has recently secured the exclusive license to sell Hype Energy in the US.
There is space for a brand that is more fashion and lifestyle oriented
To show he means business, Jansheski has kicked off his US launch campaign by recruiting reality TV star Kim Kardashian and Victoria’s Secret model Candice Swanepoel as brand ambassadors – and is going after consumers who want a caffeine hit, but are not inspired by endless pictures of motor sports.
Swanepoel’s new ad campaign for the brand featured in VOGUE’s August issue, says Jansheski, while Kardashian will join as a spokesperson in late 2014 and has filmed her own ad campaign for the brand that will be unveiled later this year.
He adds: “There are some amazing competitors and very entrenched brands in the US energy drinks market, but I still think there is space for a brand that is more fashion and lifestyle oriented.”
Not every guy is into extreme sports either
The Hype Energy brand, which is owned by ex-Formula One racing driver Bertrand Gachot, has four variants in the US market: MFP (classic), ENLITE (low cal), ZERO (zero cal) and UP ice cool berry (with fruit juice), and has 80mg caffeine per 8.40z can, B vitamins, and no artificial colors or preservatives.
But it’s not going down the ‘all-natural’ route or just targeting fashion-conscious young women, says Jansheski.
“It’s a lifestyle energy drink. Not every guy is into extreme sports either. It’s about being the best at whatever you want to do, whether it’s art, fashion, music, photography or whatever business you are in.
“It’s going to take time to prove ourselves, but we’re making a fashion statement by getting Candice and Kim on board.”
We’re making a fashion statement by getting Candice and Kim on board
The US launch has begun in around 500 stores in Tennesse – where Jansheski is based – but he’s now in conversations to secure wider distribution with retailers in c-stores and food, drug and mass channels across the nation, and talking to potential brand ambassadors in other fields including music.
As for price, he’s pitching the product at around $1.99 for an 8.4oz can vs Red Bull at $2.19, and says c-stores represent a key opportunity, in part because buyers are increasing space allocation to energy drinks to reflect their rapid growth.
As for distribution, he’s exploring various opportunities for a wider rollout, noting that the tie up between Coca-Cola and Monster may create new opportunities in that Anheuser-Busch (which currently distributes some product for Monster) may be looking to pick up new business when the bulk of Monster’s products shift to the Coca-Cola system.
The global energy drinks market
According to Canadean data, Red Bull is the global market leader in energy drinks with a 15% share by volume, followed by Monster at 12% and Coca-Cola at 5%. In value share terms, however, Red Bull has a much more substantial lead, with a 24% share vs Monster’s 9% share, reflecting Red Bull’s premium pricing and strong presence in bars, clubs and gas stations.
As for the US, relentlessly negative PR, a flurry of lawsuits and an FDA-probe have not dampened consumers’ enthusiasm for energy drinks, dollar sales of which grew 10% in the 12 weeks to August 2, according to Nielsen data shared by Wells Fargo.
And while SKUs have proliferated and the market has become more segmented, the flagship products that first attracted consumers to the category are still driving its growth, former Red Bull COO Gary Smith, told FoodNavigator-USA in a recent interview.
“The core products are still driving the growth and you only have to look at the space allocation to see that.”
As for marketing, said Smith, who now runs Big Red, “Early on the reference point was built around small groups of opinion leaders, extreme sports enthusiasts and so on, but we knew everyone was drinking them, and we built [different marketing] platforms around studying, driving, working and so on. My 90-year-old great grandfather drank Red Bull – as it said it helped him drive.”
Originally launched by Hard Rock Cafe founder Barry Fox, Hype Energy was taken over by former Formula One racing driver Bertrand Gachot in 1997.
JAS USA Compliance | The Hype About the Trans-Pacific Partnership
Most folks in the trade community have heard of the TPP aka Trans-Pacific Partnership. Most can agree this massive piece of “pending” legislation has caused significant discussion and confusion from many sectors and political positions. Why so much hype? This discussion endeavors to only highlight key points about TPP as they relate to the trade community. It is well recognized that there are clear pros and cons to most all of the components of this legislation.
The TPP involves 12 countries, including the US, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Brunei, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, Chile and Peru.
Some key points:
- Approximately 18,000 tariffs may be affected by reduction or elimination of tariff rates
- US Goods and US farm products may have tariffs removed
- Textiles and clothing tariffs may be removed (in various timeframes)
- It may lead to stricter labor laws in participating countries
- It may lead to stricter environmental rules
- It may lead to more robust protections for drug companies
- It may extend statutory terms of copyright protection
- It may provide new avenues for investors to initiate litigation over laws and regulations in other participating countries
We have noted “may” in each of these key points mainly because at this point it is unclear about what is going to happen with the TPP. With the election looming, it is certainly not likely to see any movement positive or negative on this until after the New Year. Even then, it is still very unclear what support there is at this time in the current format.
Being informed is the first step toward action. JAS Forwarding USA Inc. Compliance Team is committed to bring more and more relevant topics to our blogs and monthly newsletter. Contact us today and tell us what you think about the TPP and any other key topics. We are ready to help!
American Outlaws | Articles | AO Pre-game Hype USA vs. Panama 2/8/15
US v Panama
2/8/2015
1:00 pm PST – StubHub Center – Carson, CA
ESPN, UniMas, UDN
The USMNT will take on Panama, a familiar CONCACAF opponent, in the annual “Cupcake Camp” in Carson this Sundayafternoon. The U.S. hasn’t won a match since beating the Czech Republic away in September and has conceded 11 goals in 6 games since. Regardlesss, we can assure you that the winless streak shall be broken into the pieces by the mighty yanks and their #crushing spirits, as we’ve been spending time with the crystal ball lately. Who can forget the last two meetings between these two teams? For those who did, the US #exterminated Panama’s Gold Cup hopes in the summer of 2013 and then #decimated their World Cup dreams later that year in WCQ. While it was nice to beat them away in qualifying, seeing the Panamanians having dreams shredded apart did also tug at the heart for some of the more gentle souls of AO.
Since then, things have calmed a bit since, right? The USMNT have been training the last few weeks in LA following a disappointing 3-2 defeat in Chile, off-field distractions seem to be overshadowing the headlines after some recent public comments coming from head coach Jurgen Klinsmann. Despite the outcry from the media and fans, we know what’s important: the fact that we will never stop supporting our boys and making our presence known in the stands. We don’t know much, but one thing is for damn sure…… they’ll hear us. They may also see us eating a lot of cupcakes.
Klinsy certainly did some fidgeting with tactics the against Chile, switching to the 3-5-2. This change seemed to pay immediate #dividends when Brek Shea scored within 10 minutes, but we eventually succumbed to a 3-2 defeat, which caused many Outlaws to consume an inordinate amount of beverages later that evening. No time for gloating. The focus quickly shifts to Panama, who will likely be looking for some #revenge. Here is the USMNT squad:
GK: Johnson, Kempin, Rimando
DEF: Besler, Birnbaum, Hedges, Jones, Kitchen, O’Neill, Yedlin
MID: Bradley, Diskerud, Gil, Ibarra, Nguyen, Serna, Shea, Trapp
FOR: Altidore, Dempsey, Wondolowski, Zardes

90,000 media outlets: US propaganda hype around Ukraine is unmatched in history – International Panorama
WASHINGTON, April 18. / Corr. ITAR-TASS Andrey Shitov /. Today’s propaganda hype in the United States around events in Ukraine is unmatched in the country’s recent history. This statement is made on the pages of the online publication Consortium News by its creator and editor-in-chief Robert Parry. He is one of the renowned masters of the investigative journalism genre, having worked in the past in this specialty and has received professional awards, including the George Polk Prize, at AP and Newsweek magazine, and since 1995 – in his own information resource.
“In my more than four decades in journalism, I have never seen a more blatantly biased and misleading approach on the part of the mainstream US media,” writes Parry. “Even in the days of Ronald Reagan, when most of the current government propaganda apparatus was being created, mainstream news sources had more independence Yes, journalists have jumped from the reality cliff in droves during the Gulf War under George W. Bush and the Iraqi War under George W. Bush, when the mainstream media readily swallowed outright fakes. But there is something completely Orwellian about the current coverage of Ukrainian events, including accusing the other side of “propaganda”, while its reports – although, of course, not perfect – are much more honest and more accurate than anything produced by the US press corps. “
The author recalls the “additional risk” of such an approach, connected, in his opinion, with the fact that events presented in a distorted light take place “on the borders of Russia, a nuclear power.” “The flow of biased news in the United States is now fueled by political demands for military assistance to the regime that staged the Ukrainian coup,” the American writes.
Thus, in his conviction, “all this propaganda, covering the entire media spectrum in the United States, from Fox News to MSNBC and from The Washington Post to The New York Times / that is, both conservative and liberal and centrist publications – approx. ITAR-TASS /, endangers “not only unhappy journalism, but also the lives of many Ukrainians and the future of the planet.”

They were looking for the Russians again: the hype around the midterm elections in the USA
InoSMI editor-in-chief Alexey Dubossarsky with colleagues Yana Naumova and Anastasia Nasedkina are trying to find out why the whole world is suddenly interested in the midterm elections in the United States and what will happen if you don’t look for provocateurs where they are usually found.
audio / mpeg
Usually the world is not particularly interested in the midterm elections in the United States, which are rightly considered an internal affair of Americans. Not this year. On election day, everyone held their breath, counting on a sensation. The collapse of the Republicans? Trump’s Rage? New Russian intervention? The Americans felt that they were well prepared for a potential cyber intrusion, but they still had a reason to shout “provocateurs”. True, the provocateurs turned out to be not Russian at all, but of local origin. It was not just the United States that was stumped by the election results. Many in the world do not know whether to rejoice or panic: the future is becoming more and more unpredictable. How did the foreign media react to this? Discussed by the editor-in-chief of Inosmi Alexey Dubossarsky and his colleagues Yana Naumova and Anastasia Nasedkina. Episodes of this podcast are usually released on Fridays. InoSMI editor-in-chief Alexey Dubossarsky with colleagues Yana Naumova and Anastasia Nasedkina are trying to find out why the whole world is suddenly interested in the midterm elections in the United States and what will happen if you do not look for provocateurs where they are usually found.
Opportunities and risks for Biden
The growing excitement over the question of whether Donald Trump used his office to get re-election assistance from his Ukrainian counterpart poses political risks, albeit opportunities, for leading Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
Former Vice President Biden was trapped by the political hype surrounding reports that Trump allegedly demanded that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy investigate the activities of Biden and his son, which was the reason for new calls for Democrats to impeach Trump.
Although Trump admits to having discussed Biden with President Zelenskiy in a July telephone conversation, he refuses to answer questions about it and instead makes unconfirmed accusations that Biden allegedly made improper attempts to end the Ukrainian authorities’ investigation of a company linked to his son Hunter.
“Joe Biden and his son are corrupt,” Trump told reporters on Monday when asked to comment on the situation on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. However, he did not provide any evidence.
In the short term, the hype gives Biden and his campaign the opportunity to present Trump’s strategy as proof that the president sees him as the likely winner and most dangerous opponent among the 19 Democratic nominees for the 2020 presidential election.
But in the long term, persistent accusations of Biden’s corruption may stick to Trump, negatively affect perceptions of his being elected, and undermine Democratic arguments that Trump is abusing power.
“If Donald Trump succeeds at anything, it is his ability to label and highlight a memorable message. He’s a salesperson, ”says Democratic strategic analyst Joel Payne, who worked for Hillary Clinton in 2016.
“He’s trying to create this corrupt insider story around Biden,” he continues. “This will allow him to blow the dust off the training manual and carry out the same campaign against Biden that he conducted against Clinton.”
The GOP National Committee on Monday sent out a quid pro quo memo to reporters in an attempt to prove that Biden was involved in the “murky business.”
The Democratic campaign is largely determined by the notion that each candidate is “eligible” and his or her chances of defeating Trump, which could put what worked for Biden as a heavy burden.
However, according to the sociologist from Monmouth University Patrick Murray, Democratic voters automatically discount most of Trump’s statements. What could be more convincing is Biden’s answer, he says.
“This is where the issue of selectivity arises. Does Biden have the means to fight back when Donald Trump strikes? It could certainly help Biden, ”Murray says.
Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani suggested that Biden improperly used his influence to secure the dismissal of the prosecutor who was investigating Hunter Biden’s business ties.
Biden and his son deny these charges.
Giuliani seemed pleased that the issue of Biden and Ukraine was high on the news.
“Biden was first asked about this on Saturday,” Giuliani told Fox Business Network on Monday. – Biden was asked about this on Sunday. When you start asking Biden, he gets nervous. ”
90,000 as the appointment of the US Supreme Justice may affect the outcome of the presidential election – RT in Russian
Donald Trump has nominated lawyer Amy Connie Barrett, a supporter of conservative views, to the post of US Supreme Court Justice. Joe Biden, a rival of the incumbent head of the White House in the struggle for the highest state office, has already called on the Senate not to confirm her candidacy until “until the American people elect their next president and the next congress.”According to experts, the hype around Barrett arose due to the fact that her likely appointment would permanently change the balance of power in the Supreme Court in favor of the Republicans. The situation caused a wide public outcry also because it is the Supreme Court that can play a key role in the outcome of the upcoming elections, if their results are challenged by one of the parties.
US President Donald Trump, during a briefing, presented the candidate for the seat of the Supreme Court Justice of the United States – Amy Connie Barrett.
“Today it is a great honor for me to nominate one of the most outstanding and gifted lawyers in our country for a position on the Supreme Court … This woman is distinguished by unprecedented achievements, a brilliant mind, an impeccable reputation and unshakable loyalty to the Constitution. All this is Judge Amy Barrett, “said the head of the White House.

“Show of Force”: Why the Appointment of a New Supreme Court Justice Has Become a Subject of Political Struggle in the United States
Joe Biden believes that attempts by Donald Trump and the Republicans to appoint a new Supreme Court judge before the presidential election…
Earlier, Trump expressed confidence that the procedure for approving a nominee for the post of supreme judge in the Senate, where the majority belongs to the Republicans, will not last long.
48-year-old Judge of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals (Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana) Barrett is conservative, opposed to abortion and criticized the health care reform initiated by Barack Obama. If approved, she will become the youngest member of the US Supreme Court in its current composition.
According to the head of the US Senate Judiciary Committee Lindsay Graham, hearings on Barrett’s candidacy will start on October 12 and will last three to four days.
At the same time, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has already called on the Senate not to approve Barrett’s candidacy until the elections to be held on November 3.
“Americans understand that decisions of the United States Supreme Court affect their daily lives. The US Constitution is drafted in such a way that voters have only one opportunity to influence the appointment to the Supreme Court. This moment has come, and their opinion must be taken into account. The Senate should not nominate a candidate for the post until the American people elect the next president and the next congress, ”Biden said.

According to him, Barrett “disagreed with the decision of the US Supreme Court to approve the Affordable Health Care Act, which, according to Biden, has” written confirmation. “
“In 2012, she criticized the decision of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, John Roberts, to pass this law, supported by a majority vote,” the politician said.
A bunch of interests
Recall that the seat of one of the nine chief justices became vacant after the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who passed away on 18 September. She ended up in the US Supreme Court thanks to the appointment of the 42nd President of the United States from the Democrats, Bill Clinton, in 1993.
Despite the fact that the United States is not encouraged when chief justices publicly express their political position, Ginsburg did not hide her anti-Trump views. Even before the 2016 elections, she criticized the candidacy of a businessman. So, in an interview with CNN, she accused Trump of inconsistency.

“In the Trump’s piggy bank”: what is behind the FBI report about the absence of interference in the US elections in 2020
The FBI and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) have not identified any cyberattacks on electronic in the current year…
Trump, in turn, called then Ginzburg’s comments “extremely inappropriate.”
According to the radio station NPR, Mrs. Ginzburg, a few days before her death, dictated to her granddaughter a wish that the new president would appoint a judge in her place.
As a reminder, federal judges of the United States are appointed for life on the proposal of the head of state. Of the current eight members of the court, five were appointed by Republican presidents, two of them by Trump. It is worth noting that the Supreme Court can play a decisive role if the US decides to challenge the results of the presidential election for any reason.
The last such case occurred in 2000, when the Supreme Court, which also included the late Judge Ginsburg, halted a recount in Florida, a traditionally vacillating state whose election results determined the outcome of the entire presidential race. As a result, Republican George W. Bush won the victory.
However, Trump did not rule out a scenario in which the Supreme Court will decide the outcome of the upcoming elections.
“I think it will go to the Supreme Court. And I think it is very important that we have nine judges … I think there is nothing good in a “four by four” situation, if you understand what I mean. I don’t know if you will understand. Should be eight to zero or nine to zero. But if the process is more politicized than it should, it is very important to have a ninth judge, ”the American leader was quoted by the CBS TV channel.

Trump noted that the chief justices will have to consider “the machinations of the Democrats,” probably referring to possible rigging during the mail vote, in which, according to the head of the White House, representatives of the Democratic Party may be involved.
At the same time, the American leader did not give an unambiguous answer to the question of whether he will ensure a peaceful transfer of power in the event of his defeat in the elections.
“The balance of power will change”
As Andrei Sidorov, head of the department of international organizations and world political processes at the Faculty of World Politics at Moscow State University, explained in a conversation with RT, the uproar in the United States around this appointment arose due to the fact that if the position gets Barrett, the balance of power will shift in favor of the Republicans for many years.
“If Barrett takes over as the ninth chief justice, then the balance of power in the Supreme Court will shift in favor of the conservative wing for years to come. And this is very important for Republicans, because the Supreme Court decides questions about the constitutionality or unconstitutionality of laws, the fairness of decisions. This is the highest court – it is the last one. Therefore, if the election results are in doubt, it is he who will understand the situation, ”the expert explained.

“Getting rid of the ballots”: why Trump refused to guarantee a peaceful transfer of power in case of defeat in the elections
Donald Trump declined to answer the question whether he can guarantee a peaceful transfer of power following the November elections if he wins…
At the same time, Sidorov believes that the Senate will most likely approve Barrett for the vacant position.
“After all, the Republicans have an advantage over the Democrats in the Senate, which makes the final decision on the candidacy of Barrett,” the analyst stated.
From his point of view, if Barrett joins the Supreme Court, “it will deprive the Democrats of the opportunity to use the instrument of the courts in challenging the elections, which they were preparing for in the event of Trump’s victory.”
“After all, then, going through all the courts, the Democratic Party will eventually stumble upon the Supreme Court, where Republicans will prevail,” the expert explained.
Political scientist, US expert Malek Dudakov, in turn, predicts that after Barrett’s appointment, the Supreme Court “will make much more decisions in favor of Trump, the Republicans and the conservative concept.”
“It was no coincidence that Trump made the decision to appoint Barrett before the election. Now very quick hearings will be held on this issue, and then, I think, it will be approved.Trump is in such a hurry because he wants to have the full number of judges in the Supreme Court in case the elections are challenged, ”the analyst said in an interview with RT.

Dudakov explained that if, according to the results of the voting on November 3, the gap between the candidates is small, then “a long procedure for recount of votes will begin.”
“And the Supreme Court in this case will have to make a strong-willed decision – to stop at some point the recount of votes and secure a certain result. If the majority of the members of the Supreme Court are loyal to Trump, then the likelihood that they will make a decision in his favor will increase many times over, ”the expert noted.
At the same time, at this stage, the Democrats “will try to delay the moment of Barrett’s appointment as much as possible,” but they do not have effective mechanisms to counter this, the analyst said.
“They will, of course, unleash a public pressure campaign through loyal media. Demonstrations are not excluded. But in the end, all this will probably come down to some kind of declarative decisions in the lower house, which will not have legal force, ”concluded Dudakov.
90,000 What underlies the West’s “human rights” hype in Xinjiang – Rossiyskaya Gazeta
On March 22, the United States, the European Union, Britain and Canada announced sanctions against a number of Chinese officials for violating the human rights of Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang Uyghur autonomous region (XUAR).As part of the growing awareness-raising campaign against China, some global brands such as H&M, Nike, Adidas and Uniqlo have even abandoned the use of cotton grown by “oppressed” Uighurs in Xinjiang in their production.
It should be emphasized that cotton growing is a key sector of the XUAR economy and one of the main sources of income for Uyghur families. More than 80 percent of all Chinese cotton is produced here. About 70 percent in the XUAR is harvested mechanically, and, therefore, there can be no talk of any hard labor of the Uyghur cotton growers.
The massive anti-Chinese campaign under the slogan “fight for human rights” in XUAR, which is currently under way, leaves no doubt that it is well coordinated and pursues goals that go far beyond the scope of this topic. There is no doubt about who is behind the conductor’s stand and controls the actions of the entire orchestra. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, speaking on March 24 in Brussels to NATO allies, was quite frank. The United States views China as an economic and security threat, and therefore, he proclaimed, the North Atlantic bloc should firmly “stick together when Beijing tries to put pressure on members of the alliance.”Later, in an interview with CNN, he continued in this vein, stating that “it is obvious that there are more and more aspects of confrontation in relations with China, they are definitely of a competitive nature, but there are also areas for cooperation. we must build our relationship with China from a position of strength. ” And here the United States counts on the support of partners and allies.
Thus, at the heart of the “human rights” hype in Xinjiang is the continuation of China’s containment policy.Only to the economic opposition actively pursued by the administration of Donald Trump was a new one added. Joe Biden’s administration has raised the tried and tested struggle for “human rights” under the banner of which it is more convenient to rally the ranks of allies.
In the noise of these voices, for some reason, an interesting fact is hushed up, which has the most direct relation to ensuring fundamental human rights. At the end of February, the leadership of the PRC, through the mouth of Xi Jinping, officially announced the victory over extreme poverty in the country, including Xinjiang, which found a broad positive response in the world.UN Secretary General António Guterres, in his message to the President of the People’s Republic of China, emphasized that the political promises of the government and political stability are of great importance for improving the situation of the poorest and most vulnerable segments of the population. By the way, the Uighurs once belonged to them.
Today’s Xinjiang, to which so close attention of the West is now riveted, is, in the words of the People’s Daily, neither hell nor heaven. This is a part of China, which has its own achievements, but there are also problems.According to the majority of experts, it is impossible to deny material progress in the region. From 1978 to 2018, according to the Xinhua News Agency, the per capita income of the Uyghurs increased 100 times, the average life expectancy from 30 years in 1949 has increased to 72.3 years today. Like any minority living in China, the Uyghurs enjoyed a number of advantages. For example, Uyghur families had the opportunity to have two children in cities and three in rural areas, in contrast to the main population of the country. Uyghur high school graduates could more easily score points for university admission, and many state-owned companies were required to recruit representatives of non-titular nationalities, including Uyghurs.
The measures of the PRC government to integrate the once backward outskirts into the socio-economic life of the country were implemented in a number of infrastructure projects, including the development of rail and road communications in the XUAR not only with the central regions of China, but also with neighboring border countries Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan.
At the same time, the PRC authorities do not hide the fact that there is a certain potential in this region for the activation of Islamic radicalism and extremism, on which the United States and its allies are primarily betting. This forces the PRC authorities to pay increased attention to security issues and to prevent any attempts to carry out terrorist acts by Islamic extremists, i.e. keep the situation under your control.
For four years, not a single terrorist attack has been reported in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. And this is in the region where from 1992 to 2017 explosions thundered and people died. On April 6, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian noted: despite the fact that for four years in a row there has been no terrorist attack in Xinjiang, Xinjiang still faces the threat of terrorism and extremism. There is a need to continue to work to combat these threats.
From 1978 to 2018, according to the Xinhua news agency, the per capita income of the Uyghurs increased 100 times.
We must pay tribute to the leadership of the PRC, whose prompt reaction and the voiced response against the United States and the EU caused them some confusion. The German Foreign Ministry even summoned the Chinese ambassador for an urgent conversation, during which he made it clear to the diplomat that the measures taken by Beijing “represent an unreasonable escalation complicating relations between China and the EU.”As if they were not already complicated by the actions of the Western alliance.
Media hype or Doomsday weapon? Meet Russia’s Avangard Hypersonic ICBM (The National Interest, USA) | Military Science | Inosmi
It is not yet completely clear what kind of threat to the United States is posed by the Russian Avangard hypersonic intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). According to reports, this missile system has hypersonic speed, as well as the ability to “maneuver” while in the stratosphere. It will be difficult to oppose anything like this combination.
According to published data, the speed of this missile is 27 times the speed of sound, and its ability to maneuver makes it almost impossible to accurately determine the trajectory of its flight, and as a result, this intercontinental ballistic missile is able to defend itself against air and missile defense systems that would try to interfere her flight to the goal.
“The United States has practically no chance of defending itself against the Avangard missile system, because in the event of a large-scale conflict, Russia will attack a potential enemy with all available weapons,” said Major General Vladimir Popov, honored military pilot of the Russian Federation and candidate of technical sciences. His opinion was published earlier this year by the Eurasian Times news site.
“In this case, the defense complexes will not be able to identify all targets,” Popov added. – Among the objects directed towards the enemy will be false missiles without a warhead, and electronic means of suppression will also be used in the framework of electronic warfare. Some of the large number of attacking missiles will reach their target. ”
The article published on the Internet portal also emphasized that Beijing highly appreciated the fact that Russian hypersonic missiles with nuclear warheads are capable of “destroying” United States defenses. This publication also states that the United States and the Russian Federation, in general, maintain parity in the field of carriers of nuclear weapons, while other states cannot catch up.
The National InterestInteria
Sina.com
The Avangard missile system is just one component of the large Russian arsenal of such weapons, which includes itself 528 land-based and submarine-based ICBMs, to which should be added nuclear weapons on bombers.American missile defense is focused only on intercepting a small number of ICBMs that could be launched by a small country like North Korea, for example.
“The United States’ air and missile defense system is very powerful,” Popov stressed. – It should not be debited from the account and should not be underestimated; we are talking in this case about a deeply echeloned engineering network. It is well thought out and protects the most important regions of the country. ”
However, the development of such a weapon does not appear to provide a significant advantage to America’s adversaries. If nuclear delivery vehicles, such as ICBMs or even nuclear-armed strategic bombers, are disabled or destroyed, the United States will still have a number of options to retaliate, including with nuclear-armed Naval submarines. US forces.
In addition, the United States continues to develop weapons that can be viewed as a deterrent to the use of the Avangard missile system or other ICBMs.Earlier this month, the United States Air Force announced a $ 13.3 billion contract with Northrup Grumman for the development and production of ICBMs under the Ground-Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program.
In addition, President Donald Trump announced in June that the United States has its own hypersonic missile.
“We are building hundreds of new ships, bombers, fighters and helicopters; new tanks, military satellites, rockets and missiles; even a hypersonic missile that is 17 times faster than the world’s fastest missile, capable of hitting a target 1,000 miles away and only 35 centimeters (14 inches) away from its intended center point, ”President Trump said during his speech at the 2020 West Point Military Academy graduation ceremony.
While President Trump’s description of the accuracy of an American hypersonic missile has been questioned, you can be confident that the United States military will not allow any state to gain this kind of superiority when it comes to ICBMs.
