What are the key features of Nike Contact Football Camp at Jackie Robinson Training Complex. How can young athletes benefit from this immersive football experience. What safety measures and coaching expertise are provided at the camp.
Overview of Nike Contact Football Camp
The Nike Contact Football Camp at Jackie Robinson Training Complex offers young athletes a unique opportunity to hone their football skills in a professional and safe environment. This camp is designed to provide high-quality football instruction while prioritizing player safety and education.
Camp Director Chuck Reid emphasizes the importance of fundamental skills development, safe tackling techniques, and the application of learned skills in game-like situations. The camp employs the Ativus Tackling System, which is used by many NFL and major college teams, ensuring that participants learn the latest and safest tackling methods.

Is medical support available during the camp?
Yes, most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to assist with any illnesses or injuries. In case of emergencies, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital, ensuring prompt medical attention if needed.
Accommodation and Roommate Arrangements
Overnight campers are housed in on-site dormitories, typically with 2-3 campers per room. Roommate assignments are based on age and specific requests, which must be submitted at least 14 days before the camp starts. This arrangement provides an excellent opportunity for campers to meet new friends and develop social skills alongside their athletic abilities.
What should campers bring for their stay?
Campers should bring their own linens or sleeping bag, pillow, pillowcase, and towel, as these are not provided. Since the dorms are not air-conditioned, it’s recommended that campers bring a fan for added comfort.
Travel and Transportation
While Nike Contact Football Camps does not provide transportation from airports, train stations, or bus depots, they encourage parents to arrange shuttle or taxi services for campers who are flying in. This ensures a smooth arrival and departure process for all participants.
Group Discounts and Registration
The camp offers a unique opportunity for teams or leagues to benefit from group discounts. By contacting the US Sports Camps office, group leaders can obtain a special discount code that individual campers can use during registration. This initiative encourages team participation and makes the camp more accessible to larger groups.
How can teams take advantage of the group discount?
To utilize the group discount, a representative should contact the US Sports Camps office at 1-800-645-3226 with the names of all campers in the group. A unique discount code will be created, which can then be used by individual campers during the online registration process.
Safety Measures and Coaching Philosophy
The Nike Contact Football Camp places a strong emphasis on player safety and proper technique. The use of the Ativus Tackling System, which is employed by many professional and collegiate teams, demonstrates the camp’s commitment to teaching safe and effective tackling methods.
Coach Chuck Reid’s philosophy focuses on fundamental skill development, encouraging players to embrace coaching and bring high energy to every session. The camp structure allows for the application of learned skills in competitive situations, including one-on-one drills, 7-on-7 games, and full scrimmages.
How does the camp ensure a positive learning environment?
By dividing players into appropriate skill levels, the camp creates a balanced and encouraging atmosphere where each participant can thrive. This approach allows for tailored instruction and ensures that all campers, regardless of their initial skill level, can make significant improvements throughout the camp.

- Improve physical conditioning and athleticism
These elements combine to create a foundation for continued growth and success in the sport, potentially opening doors to higher levels of competition in the future.

Beyond athletic skills, the camp environment fosters the development of important life skills:
- Teamwork and collaboration
- Communication skills
- Leadership abilities
- Time management and discipline
- Resilience and perseverance
- Self-confidence and self-awareness
These skills are valuable not only in sports but also in academic and professional settings, contributing to the overall personal growth of the participants.
Leveraging Camp Experience for Future Success
The Nike Contact Football Camp provides a unique platform for young athletes to showcase their abilities and potentially catch the eye of coaches and scouts. While the primary focus is on skill development and enjoyment, the camp can also serve as a stepping stone for players with aspirations of playing at higher levels.
How can campers maximize their visibility during the camp?
To make the most of this opportunity, campers should:
- Consistently demonstrate a strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Actively seek feedback from coaches and implement their suggestions
- Engage fully in all drills and scrimmages, showing versatility and adaptability
- Network with fellow campers and coaches, building relationships within the football community
- Keep a record of their achievements and improvements throughout the camp

Post-Camp Development and Continued Growth
The conclusion of the Nike Contact Football Camp marks not an end, but a beginning in the journey of athletic development. The skills, knowledge, and experiences gained during the camp provide a solid foundation for continued growth and improvement.
How can athletes maintain their progress after the camp?
To build upon the camp experience and continue their development, athletes should:
- Implement the techniques and strategies learned at camp in their regular training routines
- Set specific, measurable goals based on the feedback received from camp coaches
- Maintain communication with coaches and fellow campers for support and motivation
- Seek out additional training opportunities and camps to further refine their skills
- Apply the work ethic and discipline cultivated at camp to their academic and personal lives
By treating the camp as a launching pad rather than a destination, young athletes can leverage their experience to drive continuous improvement and pursue their football aspirations with renewed focus and determination.
Building a Community of Young Athletes
One of the most valuable aspects of the Nike Contact Football Camp is the opportunity it provides for young athletes to connect with peers who share their passion for football. This community-building aspect of the camp experience can have far-reaching benefits for participants.
How does the camp foster a sense of community among participants?
The camp environment naturally encourages interaction and bonding through:
- Shared experiences during intense training sessions
- Teamwork exercises and group activities
- Communal living arrangements for overnight campers
- Friendly competition in scrimmages and drills
- Group meals and downtime activities
These shared experiences create a sense of camaraderie and mutual support that can extend well beyond the duration of the camp itself.
What long-term benefits can arise from these connections?
The relationships formed at camp can lead to:
- A supportive network of peers with similar goals and interests
- Opportunities for friendly competition and mutual improvement
- Potential training partners or teammates for future seasons
- Exposure to diverse perspectives and playing styles from different regions
- Lasting friendships that enrich the overall football experience
By fostering these connections, the Nike Contact Football Camp not only enhances the immediate experience of participants but also contributes to the creation of a supportive community of young athletes who can inspire and motivate each other in their football journeys.
Embracing the Challenge: Mental Preparation for Camp
While physical preparation is crucial for success at the Nike Contact Football Camp, mental readiness plays an equally important role. The intense nature of the camp can be challenging, and proper mental preparation can help campers make the most of this opportunity.
How can athletes mentally prepare for the camp experience?
To ensure they are mentally ready for the challenges ahead, campers should:
- Set clear, achievable goals for what they want to accomplish during the camp
- Develop a growth mindset, viewing challenges as opportunities for improvement
- Practice visualization techniques to imagine success in various camp scenarios
- Work on stress management and relaxation techniques to stay calm under pressure
- Cultivate a positive self-talk habit to maintain confidence and motivation
By addressing the mental aspects of performance, campers can enhance their ability to absorb instruction, perform under pressure, and maintain a positive attitude throughout the camp experience.
What role do parents play in mental preparation?
Parents can support their young athletes’ mental preparation by:
- Discussing expectations and goals for the camp experience
- Encouraging a focus on personal growth rather than comparison to others
- Helping to frame challenges as learning opportunities
- Providing emotional support and reassurance
- Emphasizing the importance of effort and attitude over outcomes
With proper mental preparation and support, campers can approach the Nike Contact Football Camp with confidence, resilience, and a readiness to embrace the challenges and opportunities that await them.

“Welcome Campers, we are excited to be back to football and camp season! There is a great deal of competition, whether it is one on one, 7 on 7, or full scrimmage. As always, we want the camp to be fun and we divide the players into appropriate skill levels. There is an emphasis on safe tackling, I am Ativus Certified and we will use the Ativus Tackling System which is employed by many NFL, major college teams, and is now required to be used by the State of Texas Athletic Association. Florida State Seminoles: FSU youth camps building community through football
There should be no way that, at 10 a. m. on a Saturday, children as young as seven aren’t just listening, but aptly paying attention to somebody speaking, especially when they see fancy football equipment surrounding them.
But there it was — a group of 30-plus kids, gathered outside Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, hanging onto every word as Florida State Seminoles football head coach Mike Norvell presided over them, channeling the same level of energy you’d expect to see out of him at a mid-season practice.
“This isn’t just a chance to get better at football, it’s a chance to get better at everything,” he told the group, repeating a mantra that has embodied the Norvell tenure — how you do anything is how you do everything. “When I say eyes up, you say keep climbing, okay?”
“Okay!”
“Eyes up!”
“Keep climbing!”
“In my 30 years of coaching, I’ve never seen anyone like him,” said Reese, now the head coach at Monte Vista Christian School in Watsonville, Calif. “He’s the only kid I knew who would watch a football game on TV and spend the whole time analyzing it. ‘Why do they do this? Why do they do that?’
“He was 12 and already looking at the game deeper than anyone else.”
Norvell has always been one to emphasize what football means not just athletically, but for a community. He’s mentioned on a number of occasions how football helped raise him and provide structure growing up, as well as constantly referring to his coaches at every level, from Pop Warner to college, as true mentors and educators for who he aimed to be.
From his Dec. 2019 introductory press conference:
To my former coaches, David Reese, coached me in peewee league football. To Mike Barber, who coached me in high school. To Clint Conque, who coached me in college. To Gus Malzahn who hired me as an offensive graduate assistant there at the University of Tulsa. To Todd Graham, who I spent nine years with as an assistant coach, gave me an opportunity to be a coordinator, to really live out my dream as a Division I assistant.
The impact you guys have made on my life in helping build me, develop me, support me through all the decisions that have been made, to my growth as a coach and as a person, I’m forever grateful for you. You are the reason why I do what I do. I can hopefully one day have players that look at me the way I look at you, respect you, for the jobs you did for me and my journey of growth.
Reese helped look after Norvell, a child in a single-parent home, and encouraged his interest and natural take to football, serving as the builder of the base that would become his coaching philosophy. Barber, his high school coach, also ran a prison ministry, taking the time to travel and visit with inmates, praying with them.
“A lot of the values that he had were things that I made values in my life, just because they were the right way to do things,” Norvell said in a 2016 profile.
‘That’s why (Reese and Barber) were inspirational to me. Because it wasn’t just football. ”
Knowing full well what the game, what being part of a team and community and leadership, can do for a kid having lived it first hand, Norvell walks the walk when it comes to giving back.
Watching Norvell coach up kids who barely know how to read an entire book with enthusiasm and vigor, you understand that there is real, actual substance behind those words.
He and his staff were giving it their all on that Saturday morning, even though it was a free camp, even though some of these kids literally had no idea who any of these coaches were or why they were doing anything they were doing.
There is no recruiting benefit to these camps — at most, there could be an extremely talented 8th grader who maybe in four years give a little bit more weight to the experience when making a decision on where to attend. These aren’t fundraising missions, or booster handshake events, or photo ops (outside of the parents stoked to see their kids try and adequately hit a tackling dummy), they’re legitimate, uplifting experiences for communities across Florida, unprecedented by any other staff before him at FSU — or really, any other major university in the state.
Here was a Power Five college football staff, complete with assistants, hanging around for photo ops, talking with parents casually, coaching up elementary school children for free, solely to give them an opportunity to experience it.
“We all need direction,” he said in an interview with Tomahawk Nation earlier this year. “And as a coach, I get to kind of pour everything I have into them to help provide them with the structure of what it takes to be successful and to push them to levels that maybe they don’t know that they’re capable of being able to achieve. It’s a profession and a position that I’ve always respected. The great coaches that I had, as I was growing up, you know, they helped you invest in me not only what I was a football player, but the young man and I’m excited to be able to do that.”
There is an almost Ted Lasso-esque sincerness to Norvell’s desire to not just coach winners on the field, but off it as well, and it is constantly on display. Each coach falls prey to coach speak (the generic, non-answers we’ve heard from everybody at every level), but for Norvell, he conveys the honesty of his desire to uplift and impact through the game. The way he’s run around at each of these stops, scooping up the kids too young to participate but still curious and helping them through the drills, shows just how much the game has meant to him, and how much he knows it can give back.

Top national college football recruits coming to Naples for Top Gun
WATCH: Paradise Coast Sports Complex hosts FBU Top Gun Camp
There were approximately 800 players from multiple states competing at the Paradise Coast Sports Complex in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
Alex Martin, Naples Daily News
Last year, Steve Quinn was anxious heading into the Football University Top Gun Showcase at Paradise Coast Sports Complex in Naples.
But not really with excitement.
Small parts of the country were coming out of the coronavirus pandemic, or at least to the point where they were hosting events, including summer football showcase camps like Quinn’s.
So Quinn, the managing partner of Football University, had to do a different kind of homework in addition to getting who could come to the Top Gun.
“Night and day,” Quinn said Wednesday comparing last year to this year, with the Top Gun Showcase on tap from Friday through Sunday. “Just the preparations. We didn’t have camps last year. We had one in San Antonio, and then Fort Lauderdale the next weekend (in March) and that Thursday was when everything got shut down.”
Football University, which runs the Showcase and multiple camps across the country, had a camp at the beginning of June 2020 in Texas, and then another in Atlanta a couple of weeks later, leading into Top Gun, which had only 900 players, compared to 1,500 this year.
Only parents and family members were allowed to attend Top Gun last year. This year, the camp is open to the public for free, and there will be food trucks and live music, and the Complex’s Cove sports bar also is open. Last year, the complex’s stadium wasn’t complete; it’s been more than ready for this year.
Last year, Quinn was concerned about spacing dots on the practice fields six feet apart, having enough hand sanitizer, and making sure CDC guidelines were followed such as wearing masks.
“It certainly is a different world today than we were in 12 months ago,” he said.

The particular football world also is different, with ongoing NCAA recruiting restrictions due to the pandemic being lifted earlier this summer. College coaches wasted no time having on-campus camps to look at recruits.
“I feel sorry for the 2021 class — they really got affected,” Quinn said. “Once we got into the 2022 (academic class) things started to open up a little bit.
“The dead periods, once those were lifted, the coaches got out in droves. The college camps were probably the most well attended this past June.”
At Top Gun, players from middle and high schools in 44 states and 3 Canadian provinces will get training from FBU’s staff of 85 NFL and NCAA-experienced coaches. The best FBU athletes from 40 regional events, held across the country during the spring, are competing for invitations to elite national events, like the All-American Bowl on NBC, the National Combine, and the FBU Freshman All-American Bowl.
There are 78 student-athletes from Collier County, over 5% of the total athletes in attendance. Some of them are Naples High’s Kendrick Raphael and Ebenezer Bouzi, Barron Collier’s Dylan McNamara, incoming Barron Collier freshman Niko Boyce, and seventh-grade running back Jamar Jerome.
“I think it’s a great opportunity,” McNamara said. “I get the chance to compete against kids from across the country, see some friends who I’ve met a camp before get the chance to play with them again.
“FBU has given me the opportunity to build relationships and bonds that have grown into strong friendships. The chance to represent the community and get a chance to throw close to home.”
The Showcase added another treat for many of its participants.
On Thursday, XPE Training and FBU will partner for a Young Guns Experience for 2026-28 studnet-athletes from 5 to 7 p.m. The clinic sold out with 200 kids in 72 hours, and will feature NFL players Gardner Minshew, Kareem Jackson, Mark Ingram, Carl Lawson, Jamal Lewis and Mason Schreck, plus Naples High grad and new Eagles receiver Michael Walker.
“We’re super excited,” Quinn said. “I would say out of the 200-plus kids that we’ll have here, half or 3/4 of them will be Collier County kids.”
Quinn’s partner, Erik Richards, the national recruiting director for the All-American Bowl, also worked on the clinic and the showcase.
“People flocked to it,” Quinn said.
As for the Showcase itself, there’s a long list of players with Division I offers or commitments, including former Evangelical Christian receiver Winston Watkins, who already has been named to the Freshman All-American Bowl, which will be in Naples during the youth football championships later this year.
“We probably will have the best group of eighth-grade and ninth-grade talent that we ever have had before,” Quinn said.
Quinn said Patriots running back Sony Michel will participate in Friday’s opening ceremonies.
Quinn credited Collier County commissioners and the tourism bureau for its support, and to have a host venue like the Paradise Coast Sports Complex.
“It’s a dream come true,” Quinn said.

Former Jaguars Donovin Darius kicks off football camp for kids – News – The Florida Times-Union
Donovin Darius stepped up close to Brandon Williams and offered this bit of encouragement: “You set the world record, and the horn goes off.”
Eight-year-old Brandon jumped straight up, swatted a couple of bars that measured his vertical jump and the horn, in fact, sounded.
It helped that Darius was holding the air horn behind his back.
Sunday’s youth football camp was the first event held by the former Jaguars safety’s Donovin Darius Foundation. About 80 kids ages 8-12 toured the Jaguars locker and weight rooms at EverBank Field. They even got to touch Maurice Jones-Drew’s helmet.
And they headed out to the old practice fields to run through a series of drills.
Check out more photos from the event
It was all free. The Jaguars provided the facilities, Firehouse Subs provided the lunch and volunteer coaches provided their time.
Nester Gomez, who coaches his son’s football team at the Dye Clay YMCA in Orange Park, was in charge of the 20-yard shuttle.
“I was a big fan of Darius growing up,” Gomez said. “So I jumped at the chance.”
His own son couldn’t attend because only the first 100 who signed up online were invited.
But about 20 of those didn’t show up, and the foundation is trying to figure out a way to work that out.
Darius’ last year with the Jags was in 2006. He played one more year with the Dolphins, then retired from football, though he still looks as if he could suit up tomorrow.
Much of his family had moved down from New Jersey during his nine years with the Jaguars, and now Darius has moved back to town and set up his foundation.
The purpose, he said, is to help parents and youth work on academics, developing good character and a healthy lifestyle. The plan is to hold camps in all parts of the city.
“I was blessed by achieving in college and the NFL,” he said. “But the real career starts after that.”
He’s also formed Next Level Training and Performance, a for-profit company that works on both the physical and mental aspects of sports.
Sunday’s camp was about both.
When the kids first hit the field, Almon Gunter, a former track athlete, spoke to the parents.
“I was going over what it takes to raise a student-athlete these days,” he said. “They’re not like other kids. They’ve got more responsibility, and you’ve got to hold them accountable. You’ve got to create a strong foundation whether they want to be an athlete or a doctor.”
After his speech, the parents came out and watched their kids go through the drills. Some shouted occasional encouragement: “There it is, there it is!” and “Stay low!”
But Charles Brathwaite just stood quietly watching his son Jamiel.
“Football, this is what he loves,” he said. “And it’s free. That’s our Christmas present.”

90,000 Vacation soccer camps in Spain
Why go to football camp in Spain
Great weather, great football, professional coaches, excellent cuisine – everything you need for an interesting and fruitful vacation. Whether you are a fan of Barça or consider yourself a Madridist, you have the opportunity to choose which camp to join in every sense of the word. Not only will you take home your club kit, you will not only visit the famous stadiums and training grounds of FC Barcelona or FC Real Madrid. You can be sure that the fastest and most technical footballers from around the world, aged 6-19, will train with you under the guidance of professional European coaches.
Specificity of training young football players in Spain
Unlike English football, which focuses on strength training, Spain places particular emphasis on technique and player interaction on the pitch. The Spaniards have their own “philosophy of football” and this concept is of great importance to them.
Considering that a large number of our guys play football in Russia, it will be important to find out at home what is the difference in the psychology of players from different countries. Coaches in Spain, England or Holland see football differently. This difference, of course, is very visible in the manner of playing football of those guys with whom your young footballer will train in Spain. And children will be there from all over the world, including the USA, Japan, and Brazil and Argentina.
Knowledge exchange and international practical experience is probably the most valuable thing that a child will bring back. The level of training of young footballers can vary greatly depending on the length of time or age.
Of course, in the camps themselves, qualified coaches who regularly confirm their qualifications in UEFA will divide the guys according to their training levels. However, it is obvious that the higher the professional level of the player, the more important it is for him to be in an equal or even stronger environment.
Varieties of programs in football camps in Spain
Another important nuance is whether to choose a football camp in Spain with language learning or just train. There are several more factors that need to be considered in order to make the right choice, and we will definitely discuss all these points before booking the program.
Allterra Education specialists have all the necessary knowledge to help a young athlete and his parents not to make mistakes. If you still have doubts about whether this whole idea makes sense, we have an unequivocal answer – yes it does. You will be convinced of this at the very first training session of your child after his return from Spain!

caring and honest people.
Here you can not only look for something, but also communicate, make friends, fall in love, help each other.
We are creating a group where people live not according to the principle: “You are for me, I am for you,” but according to the principle: “I am for you, and you are for another.”
How important it is for one person to hear another!
It is annoying, insulting and upsetting when they listen to you formally, without trying to understand what is being said. Hearing and hearing are different concepts.
There are constant wars on our planet, a third of the population goes hungry, and trillions of dollars in the world are spent on weapons.
At the sight of this picture, the heart contracts. We live on the same planet! It’s time to finally understand that we are all people of the same Earth.
Instead of sorting out the relationship and agreeing on joint actions, people always reproach each other, insult, humiliate and threaten …
It is important that we trust each other. I understand, it’s hard to believe when there is so much lies, falsehood, rudeness, rudeness, theft, impudence around.
I hope that, in spite of everything and in spite of everything, you will remain optimistic (a pessimist postpones for a rainy day, and an optimist for a brighter future). All obstacles and trials that come our way are not accidental. If you are faced with them (and who does not encounter them!),
As a reward, you will receive new skills, knowledge, experience, and most importantly – learn how to solve difficult problems. And these are the components of your success.
I believe in you.
I am mentally with you.
I ask you: believe in yourself and you.
Let’s make ourselves and those around us happy.
