Eastern University | Community College of Philadelphia
Community College of Philadelphia has two types of transfer agreements with Eastern University: dual admissions and program-to-program. To benefit from any of these agreements students must earn an appropriate associate degree before transfer. These agreements are not exclusive of one another and the agreements can complement one another.
Dual Admissions
Eastern University and Community College of Philadelphia have developed a dual admissions agreement. This agreement is designed to assist students who earn an appropriate associate degree to transfer to Eastern University. Eastern University guarantees admissions on the condition that students meet all the requirements.
Admissions into a particular major is not guaranteed. Upon transfer, students earn junior standing for matching majors. Support and financial incentives, including scholarship awards, are built-in to offer students the best opportunity for success.
Dual admissions eligibility
Students who do not qualify for dual admissions, are still eligible to transfer to Eastern University. Please review the list of approved programs below and visit with a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor for further assistance.
Program-to-Program
These are agreements in which an entire curriculum or program of study is accepted, so graduates of these specific associate degree programs transfer with advanced standing to a matching specific bachelor’s degree program at Eastern University.
Early Childhood Education Program Agreement for graduates of the Associate in Arts (A.A.) in Education: Early Childhood (Birth to 4th Grade).
To learn about the Pennsylvania Child Care Association’s T.E.A.C.H. In addition to the traditional Undergraduate programs, Eastern University’s non-traditional Adult Undergraduate Programs offer accelerated bachelor’s degree completion programs. These programs will accept all or most of the courses from any associate degree from Community College of Philadelphia to satisfy half of the bachelor’s degree guaranteeing junior status.
Dual Admissions Eligibility
Eastern University welcomes applicants to the Dual Admissions Program in order to facilitate the transfer of students from Community College of Philadelphia to Eastern University with third-year (junior) status for the purpose of entering a bachelor’s degree program.
To be eligible for this program, students must:
- Submit a dual admissions intent form before earning no more than 30 graded college level credits (grades of A, B, C, D, F) from Community College of Philadelphia or any other college/university. Once a student has completed this form, they are strongly encouraged to meet with an Eastern University admissions representative and a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor to develop a course-taking strategy.
- Complete the Eastern University admissions application at least 60 days prior to the start date (or as soon as possible for rolling admissions) and satisfy all other regular Eastern University admissions requirements.
- Graduate from Community College of Philadelphia with an Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.) or Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in one of the approved programs listed.
- Achieve a minimum Community College of Philadelphia cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 within an associate’s program of study (or a 3.0 in Education).
- Enroll at Eastern University within one year of graduating from Community College of Philadelphia.
To submit a Dual Admissions intent form, login to MyCCP and find “Transfer/Dual Admissions” on the top right side of the MyGPS tab.
NOTE:
- Students who have previously been matriculated to Eastern University are not eligible for the Eastern University dual admissions program.
- Students can transfer up to 89 credits. Only courses with a grade of “C” or better are transferrable towards the student’s major and a grade of “C” is required to fulfill the written communication requirement. Courses with grades lower than “C” will transfer as electives.
- A full-time student admitted with third year (junior) status to Eastern University will be able to complete most bachelor’s degrees at Eastern University within four regular semesters provided the student completes the appropriate associate degree program at Community College of Philadelphia and completes the appropriate sequence of their remaining course work at Eastern University. Spring semester entry to Eastern University may affect the normal sequence of courses in a degree program.
- Eastern University agrees to accept the general education courses embedded in the Community College of Philadelphia A.A. and A.S. degrees toward the fulfillment of many of its undergraduate general education requirements. Given the larger number of general education courses required for the bachelor degree at Eastern University, most students will have remaining general education courses to fulfill after transferring to Eastern University, particularly those related to the Christian faith and mission offered only at Eastern University.

Pennsylvania attractions on the map
Pennsylvania ) is a state in the Northeastern United States. The state motto is “Virtue, Liberty and Independence”.
History
The first European settlers in what is now Pennsylvania were the Swedes and the Dutch. In 1681, the English King Charles II gave the young English Quaker William Penn a large territory west of the Delaware River. In 1682, Penn founded a colony of refuge for Protestants of the “Society of Friends” (the official name of the Quakers) and others persecuted for their faith. In honor of Penn’s father, an admiral in the Royal Navy, the colony was named Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania – in Latin Penn Sylvania Penn Sylvania .
At the same time, William Penn, who professed the idea of brotherly love between fellow believers, founded the city, which he came up with the name Philadelphia, which in ancient Greek means City of brotherly love .
The experiment was successful for half a century, but then, as a result of clashes with the Indians, many colonists of Irish and German origin died. The Quakers (unlike the Puritans in New England) refused to oppose the Indians with force, because they could not compromise their moral principles – rejection of wars and violence, religious tolerance – and were forced to leave the political scene of the colony.
In 1751, the first hospital in the British colonies was opened in Pennsylvania, and the first university, the University of Pennsylvania, was founded. In 1790, Pennsylvania was the first North American state to pass a slave emancipation law.
Pennsylvania actively participated in the Revolutionary War. In 1776, the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (the official name of the state) was adopted. At the same time, the Declaration of Independence was proclaimed in Philadelphia by the Second Continental Congress and Pennsylvania, along with twelve other former North American colonies of Great Britain, formed the United States of America.
In the Civil War, Pennsylvania was on the side of the Northerners.
Geography
The state owns part of the coast of Lake Erie, 82 km long, and the coast, 92 km long, along the estuary of the Delaware River. At the same time, Pennsylvania has no outlet to the Atlantic Ocean. It borders six states: New York (to the north), New Jersey (to the east), Delaware (to the southeast), Maryland (to the south), West Virginia (to the southwest), and Ohio (to the west).
The Appalachians run through the state from southwest to northeast. Northwest Pennsylvania is occupied by the Allegheny Plateau, which also continues north into New York State and west into Ohio. The plateau is strongly dissected by valleys. During the last ice age, the northwest and northeast corners of Pennsylvania were buried under the southern edge of the Laurentian Ice Sheet. The glacier also continued in the mountain valleys of the Appalachians, in the central part of the state, its southernmost tip was only 40 km north of modern Pittsburgh.
