G-Stick Set and Accessories

“G-Stick” Leaders w/Danglers & “G-Stick” Splash/Bar

With our “G-Stick” you can have a similar set-up as the commercial boats, while still experiencing the increased hook-ups and effectiveness.  Regardless of the size boat you have, the “G-Stick” will perform!  Keep your eyes on the dangler and watch for the Tuna coming right out of the water for it.

There are three individual components that make up the system and are all included with the Set:

1. A Special 35ft Wind-On Leader w/ Dropper Loop Spliced
2. A Heavy 36” Medium Flex Splash/Bar w/3 Birds-Rigged w/Heavy Tuna Tangos & Stinger
3. A Rigged Dangler Stinger Bait

How does it all work? Simple!

Tie
the line from the reel to the swivel at the end of the wind-on leader. This swivel is stainless steel and rated at 220lbs.

Attach
the snap swivel at the end of the wind-on leader to the Splash/Bar. Ths is a 250lb BB Snap Swivel.

Let
the splash/Bar out into the spread.

When
the loop on the wind-on comes off the rod tip attach the long-line clip on the
Dangler to the loop. The Dangler is rigged with a 7691 Southern Tuna hook and 3ft of 300lb momoi leader. Swivel on the clip is rated at 660lbs.

Continue
letting line out until the dangler is just bouncing on the surface in front of
the Slash/Bar.

For
best results this should all be in the long rigger release clip. Let line out
until the Dangler bait is just bouncing on the surface and it is now in the
right position in the spread. The higher the point off the rigger the further
back the Splash/Bar can be placed in the spread.

When hooked-up you will be fighting the fish with the Splash/Bar, when the loop and long-line clip reach the rod tip reach over and disconnect the clip from the wind-on. That fish is yours.

Note: The Splash/Bar can be fished with its Stinger attached and without the Dangler in front the Splash/Bar or can be fished without the Stinger and just the Dangler in front. Either way you will only catch one fish at a time. However, if you really feel adventurous you can fish with both the Splash/Bar Stinger and the Dangler, be ready for two fish on at the same time and all hell breaking loose. 

In a standard commercial green stick there are normally 3 or 4 rigged danglers. With the G-Stick system you can only have one dangler. However, you can run three of the G-Sticks, one from the center rigger and one from each long or short rigger positions.

Barnegat, NJ, landed a nice Tuna. The crew positioned the G-Sick down the center
from the short rigger position and found it very easy to set up and deploy.

Subsequent life, after I left the army, was associated precisely with strategic consulting. Then more and more. And today we will probably discuss with you a topic related to the strategy of human development. Then I don’t know what. Andrey Ionin: No. Accuracy is, in this case, a technical characteristic, it is determined by a whole set of factors. GPS used to be much more accurate, now this difference has significantly reduced and is no longer significant for the consumer. Usually, figures are cited indicating that the Americans have now reached the level of accuracy, if you determine only from satellites, somewhere at the level of one and a half meters.We have – in the region of 2.5. In principle, it is clear how we can rise to the American level. And the Americans are also thinking about how to make the system even more accurate. But the most important thing is that for most consumers the achieved level of accuracy at the level of 2 meters is absolutely sufficient.

JSON.TV: Is this level still getting hackneyed for civilian users?

Andrey Ionin: No. This is an interesting question. In fact, until 2000, there was not yet, in fact, a civilian signal from GLONASS, because the system was not fully deployed.Until May 2, 2000, the Americans made noise on their civil signal. As a result, the accuracy was at the level of 100 meters. The system could be used with such precision in very rare cases. But this was not very relevant, because navigation devices cost a lot of money. An ordinary navigator (then there were no smartphones yet), which performed only this function, cost several thousand dollars. Andrey Ionin: GLONASS got into this story when the market already existed. In 2011, the grouping was fully deployed, and the mass technology became around the end of 2011, when it appeared in the iPhone 4. Since then, GLONASS is, in fact, mass technology. Now analysts estimate the penetration of GLONASS technology into navigation devices at 60%. The main thing is that we must keep in mind that since this system is national, and the state is still not an altruist, as we said earlier, they understand something by this. After all, if initially the systems arose from global military tasks and the global military confrontation between the Soviet Union and the United States, now we no longer confront them globally. The Americans continue, of course, to fight globally around the world. Therefore, they simply need such a system in the interests of providing for their armed forces.Why does China need this system? I think that it is needed to ensure their global economic interests, transport routes, because navigation is primarily used on all types of transport. And we know that China is, in fact, the main driver of the development of all global transport routes in the world.

JSON.TV: Well, yes, there are 1.5 billion Chinese users, 4 billion worldwide, and there will be more and more.

Andrey Ionin: Yes. They simply direct the main flow of raw materials to their country, which comes from all countries of the world: from Africa, from Latin America, including by sea, by rail, by means of aviation.And in the opposite direction there is a huge flow of goods produced in China. Therefore, it is very important for China to have its own access to navigation systems in order to control these processes. After all, this is not just the ability to manage all this, but also the ability to ensure control and a certain sovereignty of these traffic flows.

JSON.TV: Before returning to global problems again, let’s agree on GLONASS and other navigation systems. Two stories come to mind.The first is connected with the loss of a decent number of satellites of our GLONASS system. How complete is this grouping? They crashed a few years ago.

Andrey Ionin: The problem of losing satellites is more related to the space industry as a whole.

JSON.TV: Does this affect the stability of the system?

Andrey Ionin: This did not affect the system, now there are even backup devices in the system. That is, in the event of even an abnormal failure of a satellite, it will be replaced by a backup satellite within a very short time.This is the first thing. And secondly, 24, the full composition, is a kind of theoretical estimate, according to which at any time, at any point, you can determine by GLONASS. In fact, if you have 18 satellites, then in Russia this opportunity will drop to only 98%. To navigate very much globally, all over the world, always, you need 24 satellites. If we say that it is enough for us that everything is fine on the territory of Russia and on the territory of our EAEU countries, then, in principle, even 18 is enough: the problem is solved with a very high probability. I would not talk about any risks. And for the civilian consumer it doesn’t matter at all. As many do not know now neither the frequency of their processor, nor at what frequency their communication channel works, they have LTE, 3G or 2G, they also have no idea what navigation systems their smartphones use.

JSON.TV: And thank goodness. However, due to ground-based adjustment stations, such a fuss has erupted between Russia and the United States. The states did not provide us, ours said: “Remove your towers from our territory.”How important is it and why?

Andrey Ionin: This story is more of a state PR. The Americans have long ago done everything in their country correctly, as they often do, using soft power. To improve the accuracy of satellites, you need to have points distributed around the globe at which you can estimate the current error. You know exactly the location of these points: they are determined by satellites. As a result, they see an error that is obtained from the satellites. Based on this, the satellite movement model is corrected. This is one of the technologies for improving accuracy. This is one of the reasons why Americans have higher accuracy than GLONASS. They did it very cleverly. There is a world scientific geophysical society that solves many scientific problems, including those related to continental drift and so on. In order to solve these problems, you need, again, to have high-precision navigation. To determine the 2 cm drift over the course of a year, you must have a high-precision receiver that gradually monitors these changes.The Americans did the following: they altruistically supplied these instruments to the Geophysical Society, about 400 such stations around the world.

JSON.TV: How many of them are in Russia?

Andrey Ionin: In Russia as well. I don’t remember, somewhere around 20. It was not about Russia – it was solving the problem of gaining access to current high-precision information from stations located around the world. The Americans solved this problem by paying for a scientific program and equipment for the scientific community.The scientific community, of course, took it. This, in fact, was a grant. As a result, the scientists were told: “Just one small condition: all the raw information that you receive from GPS satellites, please transmit to us online.” That’s the whole story. Unfortunately, we tried to act rudely as usual. In fact, we could have done the same. We could suggest to the geophysical society: “Let us also supply 400 devices with GLONASS at the expense of Russia, and you will also send us information online”.But how did we act? We said: “Let us put stations, ours, in the United States, Europe and around the world.” Firstly, it turns out to be much more expensive. And secondly, political stories immediately arise around this.

Andrey Ionin: This affects the accuracy of the system, because we need to refine the model, it is desirable to know the GLONASS error throughout the entire territory of the globe. This affects, but the achieved accuracy is already quite enough for almost all civilian consumers. And for those who are not enough, there are relatively inexpensive technologies that can increase the accuracy to tens of centimeters or even to centimeters. And in post-processing mode, even down to millimeters.

JSON.TV: Are these already terrestrial technologies?

Andrey Ionin: Yes, ground-based technologies that allow you to do all this. There is no problem here. There are still few such consumers, so in fact there is no problem.

Andrey Ionin: There is such a concept as “ground pseudo-satellites”. There is such a technology, but the fact is that you have to synchronize the clock very clearly. The satellites transmit the navigation signal, so you must synchronize the clocks of all satellites and your pseudo-satellites. The cost of precision watches is now estimated at just millions of dollars. It is the most expensive element of a navigation satellite and the most high-tech one.

JSON.TV: And how do these solutions get around?

Andrey Ionin: They do not go around in any way, they are looking for other ways related to indoor navigation. It is very expensive to act head-on, that is, to create pseudo-satellites that will transmit signals and place them in buildings. Therefore, they are looking for other, workarounds. There are different technologies.There are technologies associated with the installation of special transmitters, but not the GPS and GLONASS navigation signal, but another, at a different frequency, such as Wi-Fi points or Bluetooth points. One such technology is being promoted by Apple. You install such inexpensive sensors in your room (now they say that their price has reached 10 dollars), according to the signals of which within a radius of several tens, or even hundreds of meters, you can determine your location. Equipping a large shopping center with such sensors will cost tens of thousands of dollars.In this case, of course, you need to make their map and somehow enter this map into your smartphone.

JSON.TV: Yes. Do you need any pribluds? New ways of communication? Or is Bluetooth enough?

Andrey Ionin: There are two tasks. First, you must determine your location, and second, you must have a map. That is, the plan of this building, because you just don’t need a point.

Andrey Ionin: Now such services for mapping premises, large shopping centers, infrastructure facilities such as airports are being developed separately.In the United States, I know that a huge number of buildings already have such plans for indoor navigation. We understand that any developer of mass technology must proceed from the assumption that the consumer is lazy and, I would put it mildly, not very smart.Therefore, the technology must be absolutely simple and straightforward. And it is desirable to remove everything related to the infrastructure. Tens of thousands of dollars for large buildings is still a problem. It is advisable to make it so that nothing needs to be done in the building. There are such solutions, but I would not like to discuss them.

Andrey Ionin: With a certain skepticism.There is talk, but there are no real working models yet. Because everyone is trying to make money from advertising. It seems to everyone the simplest. But you perfectly understand that the advertising budget is limited. All companies in the world add up, make a common advertising cake, from which everything is cut off. And, if we say that indoor navigation claims some kind of advertising budget, we must understand who will cut this piece off. And they don’t want to be cut off either.

This is a lot of money. Plus, every year you will have to spend a billion dollars on average to maintain the system. Taking into account the current not very good state of the European economy, this is a significant amount.There is no other justification for direct reimbursement of this money. They tried to pretend that they would have some kind of commercial services there. They had several signals, one designated as commercial. Of course, this is an interesting thing, but this has been discussed for ten years. But I have not seen the rationale, the business model of this commercial signal. I have the impression that this is some kind of … And there is another signal, “protected” – allegedly for the police services. But we are all adults … In the 1990s, when the system was born, the European Union was completely different in terms of political will.It was an integration project. There was no euro yet, it was about a unified European army, about the creation of the United States of Europe. Then the idea for Galileo came about. My neighbor in the cave somehow annoyed me, but sooner or later I have to make peace with him, forget the insult. Have you noticed that between countries, on the contrary, the good is forgotten, but the bad remains?

JSON.TV: In general, India, China and Russia coexist in pairs, I must say.

Andrey Ionin: They are neighbors, but we have no history of bad relations. Now, it is clear why, they will try to inflate the topic of our relations with China: we allegedly oppress it, and it will absorb us.But this is not the story of the confrontation that exists in Europe between France and Great Britain, France and Germany. It will probably be difficult for Russia to make peace with Poland, but here it is easier for us. BRICS does not have a history of bad relations, therefore, it is easier for us to unite.
