Looking to Improve Your Lacrosse Game This Year. Discover Why the True Frequency Head is a Must-Have
The Unique Design of the True Frequency Head Optimizes Ball Control
As a long-time lacrosse player and gear enthusiast, I’m always on the lookout for equipment that can improve my game. This past season, I had the chance to try out the new True Frequency lacrosse head and it quickly became my go-to head for both box and field lacrosse. After logging some serious minutes with the True Frequency, I’m convinced this head is a game-changer, especially when it comes to ball control and handling.
So what makes the True Frequency head so unique? First off, the head has a wider scoop and pinch than your average lacrosse head. This allows for much easier scooping of ground balls, even at weird angles. I’ve noticed my ground ball pickups have improved dramatically since switching to the True Frequency. The wider design just swallows up grounders with minimal effort on my part.
The wider scoop also comes in handy when cradling. I find it much easier to cradle the ball securely in the pocket thanks to the extra width. My cradling speed has increased as a result. The ball just sits in that pocket like it’s glued in place no matter how fast I’m moving down the field. I don’t have to work nearly as hard to keep control of the ball while dodging defenders or sprinting towards the goal.
The pinch of the head is also optimized for superior ball control. The True Frequency pinch helps lock in passes, especially on quicker touch passes. The ball almost passes itself in this head. I’ve been amazed at some of the quick stick passes I’ve been able to complete successfully with this head. The pinch grip allows me to pass crisply even when a defender is draped all over me.
All of these ball control benefits translate directly into improved shooting accuracy. With the ball firmly cradled into the head’s pocket, I can wind up for a shot knowing the ball will stay put until I’m ready to unload. My shooting percentage has seen a noticeable uptick since I started using the True Frequency.
Win Faceoffs and Ground Balls

In addition to boosting my offensive game, the True Frequency has also been a difference maker at the faceoff X. Faceoff specialists will love scooping up 50/50 ground balls with this head. The wider design almost scoops the ball automatically on faceoff scrums. I’ve won a number of extra possessions this season simply by out-scooping my opponent to those loose balls thanks to my True Frequency.
The shape of the head also lets me clamp down quickly on faceoff wins. I can lock in the ball immediately after raking it back. This allows me to spring up and take off down the field right after a faceoff win. The wider pinch grabs hold of the ball as soon as I stand up from the faceoff position. Winning faceoffs cleanly is crucial for gaining a numbers advantage on the offensive end, and the True Frequency delivers in that regard.
Enhance Checking on Defense
My defense has also improved with the True Frequency since it excels at checking. The head shape allows me to lock onto an attacking player’s stick and pry the ball loose with more force. I can also use it to shield my stick from opponents trying to lift or poke check me. For defensemen, gaining any advantage in the checking game is huge. This head provides that by giving me more surface area and leverage to wield my stick aggressively on defense.
Goalies have also praised the True Frequency head for helping make more saves. The design allows goalies to move their stick more efficiently in the crease. Goalies can react quicker to shots and get more of their stick on a shot thanks to the head’s unique shape.
Durable Construction Built to Last

In addition to high performance, I’ve been highly impressed with the durability and longevity of the True Frequency head. It is crafted from lightweight yet high strength composite materials. Despite logging heavy minutes this season, my head has retained its original structure. It still looks and performs brand new after taking some hard slashes and knocks along the way.
The sidewall holes are also designed to be easily customizable depending on your pocket preferences. I swapped out various shooting strings and nylon configurations until settling on my current setup. The head allowed me to fine-tune my pocket until I found my ideal shooting and throwing mechanics. Whether you string traditionally or use mesh, you can dial in your pocket just the way you like it on the True Frequency.
Compatible With All Lacrosse Sticks
True Frequency heads can be mounted on any lacrosse shaft including aluminum, composite, hybrid shafts, and even wood shafts for that old school vibe. I run mine on a lightweight composite shaft. But no matter what shaft you currently use, this head will mount right up with two screws just like any other head. The universal mounting means players at all levels can experience the performance benefits of the True Frequency head.
I also love using the True Frequency for both box lacrosse and field lacrosse. The head excels at both versions of the game. I rely on it whether I’m dodging defenders on a tight field in box lax or sprinting coast to coast across an open field. The skills I build with this head translate seamlessly between box and field lacrosse.
