Don’t overlook negotiating directly with local running stores – many are willing to bargain, especially on past season models. As a loyal customer, I’m not shy asking for a discount.

Before buying at full price, I politely ask, “Are there any active promos or if they can offer a better deal?” Oftentimes, they’ll knock 10% or more off just for asking.

For older stock, I point out the newer models now available: “I see the Ghost 16 is out now. Any discount on the 15s still in stock?” Again, stores want to move old product.

I also leverage competitor pricing: “I saw these $20 cheaper at the store across town. Could you match that price?” Most will meet or beat another authorized dealer’s price.

Outside of sales, I’ve also had luck simply asking: “What’s the best price you could do for a loyal customer?” Emphasizing the relationship can go far.

The key is being reasonable and friendly. Don’t demand steep discounts. Let the salesperson assist in finding a fair deal you’ll both feel good about.

One of my favorite tips for getting affordable Brooks Ghost sneakers is buying older models from the Ghost series. The savings get bigger the further back you go!
