With roots from the east coast and a belief that your zip code has no bearing on how good you can be in

lacrosse, Director Michele Uhlfelder came west to be a pioneer in the growth of the lacrosse. Among

milestones like developing the first west coast All-Americans, first Team USA players and first team to earn a

NCAA tournament bid,  Uhlfelder brought the vision of club lacrosse. Developing skills, Lax IQ and competitive

experience in the off- season meant players returned to their schools and youth programs as more skilled and

confident players, thus raising the level of lacrosse in the area. Enter the trickle down factor…organically, the

level of the game in the region and state rose tremendously as our players’ teams became better and pushed

their competitors to become better. The first club in Northern California was the Bay Area WAVE, est. 2002.

This push became a movement, whereby we accelerated skill and players’ love of the game. We mentored and  

stayed focused on player growth – on and off the field – helping players maximize their potential in the game

(and often scholastically and socially.) Many players became prepared college prospects  and we helped

facilitate the process of becoming a student – athlete at all levels (Division 1, 2, 3 and Collegiate Club) by

helping families manage the recruiting process.

Tournaments became opportunities to not only gain extremely valuable competitive expereince against players

from all over the country, but also to “get out of our bubble” and gain exposure to various aspects of the sport including:  various styles; extreme growth, reach and pace of the game; high level officiating; and the network of college coaches and outside opportunities.  For our coaches it was a great space to take practice to the game and capitalize on teachable moments for our girls, see light bulbs go off and support/reward the girls for their focus, preparation and healthy approach to competiton.   We coaches networked with our friends – college coaches and other club coaches.  The team  also bonded, went to some neat places and had a lot of fun.

National Lacrosse League and WAVE Announce Content Syndication Partnership

Philadelphia, June 16, 2020 – The National Lacrosse League (@NLL), the longest running and most successful professional lacrosse league in the world, and WAVE, the sports media company for today’s fan, today announced a content and sales agreement that will increase the volume of lacrosse coverage across WAVE’s portfolio of media brands, while expanding the NLL’s fan base across the US.

The agreement will include the distribution of NLL athlete, franchise and league content where applicable across WAVE’s entire portfolio of media brands. The first-of-its-kind, 360-degree nature of this partnership allows for WAVE and the NLL to collectively work with brands to offer new sponsorship inventory within WAVE’s programming.

We average an 85% college-signing rate. To date, we have sent over 150 young men to college lacrosse programs all over the country, due to our knowledgeable staff and recruiting tournaments that we attend. We have a number of Collegiate Head Coaches on staff and have numerous connections to other coaches around the area. 3d Lacrosse Girls Programs Making Waves Coast to Coast

In just a few short years, the 3d Lacrosse girls Select program has cemented itself as an innovator in girls lacrosse training. Training 3000+ players over the last four years, the girls program spans across six markets coast to coast: Colorado, Mid-Atlantic, New England, Oregon, San Diego, and Tri-State.

This summer, 30+ 3d Select girls teams trained and competed in 3d Lacrosse’s Box-Field Hybrid™ Development System. From U13 to high school age brackets, 3d girls showcased a repertoire of skills and a high level of lacrosse IQ unique to 3d players.
See below for highlights from the summer from each of our girls programs.

Colorado

Teams: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020/21, 2021, 2022/2023/24

Tournaments: DSO, Western, Capital Cup, Vail, All Star Express

3d Colorado girls had a breakout season under the guidance of 3d National Girls Director Melissa Rausch and her staff. The 3d Colorado youth program doubled in size this summer season with the addition of LC Colorado Springs. The balanced 2018, 2019 and 2021 squads, made up of players from all over Colorado, all posted dominating wins throughout the summer over local club rivals. At the Denver Shootout, 3d’s annual summer kick-off tournament, the 3d Colorado high school teams took home 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finishes with the 2018 team narrowly losing in the championship game. The 2021’s also competed in their bracket’s championship game and placed 2nd.

The momentum carried into the rest of the summer. 3d Colorado High School Open team traveled to the picturesque mountain town of Vail and took home a bracket championship title. A true team, the 2021’s yet again appeared in the tournament playoffs while the 2022’s, 23’s, and 24’s showed off new skills in Vail playing against older, tougher competition, but smiling and learning through all of it.

The showcase-oriented Western Cup saw 3d Colorado’s high school teams go 7-5 overall with huge wins over repeat opponents. The high school teams finished out the summer at Capital Cup in Richmond, Va. The 2018 team went 2-2 but the highlight of the tournament was a highlight reel behind-the-back play. The 2019 team went 3-2 as players from Oregon and Colorado combined to play under the 3d Pacific name. They built strong chemistry between the two western regions and showed the fluidity of 3d’s proven methodology.

To close out the action-packed summer, 3d Colorado’s most celebrated, skilled, and dominant team, the 2021’s, went 4-1 in one of the toughest brackets at the All-Star Express. Twins Maddie and McKenna Riley led the team at midfield and attack with at least one of them getting a touch on every offensive possession. Lauren Spence was another huge contributor, playing all over the field including in goal. Every player on the team continues to improve and exhibit 3d methodology all over the country as they compete and 3d Colorado’s coaches and staff could not be more proud.

Mid-Atlantic

Teams: 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023/24, 2025/26

Tournaments: New England Cup, Champions Cup, Club National Championship, Capital Cup, The Grind, The Roundup, All Star Express

It was a big summer for 3d Mid-Atlantic girls and Manager Kristan Ash who is also a high school coach at Riverside High School in Leesburg, VA. With programming starting just over a year ago, 3d Mid-Atlantic was able to field four teams this summer in addition to a youth player development program for girls graduation years 2024, 2025, and 2026. The Mid-Atlantic teams were made up of girls from all over Northern Virginia and Maryland.

The 3d Mid-Atlantic High School teams competed in several national tournaments with the 2018’s appearing in the finals at The Grind and the 2019’s appearing in the finals at the Club National Championship. The 2018’s consisted of a blended team with 3d Tri-State girls who trained in their own region and competed together in three tournaments – playing together seamlessly under the same 3d team concepts.

3d Mid-Atlantic’s 2020/21 team represented well at the Club National Championship as they appeared in the semi-finals at the tournament. Elsewhere, the 2022/23 team opened up their summer with a 4-0 first place finish and sweep of the Round Up against very skilled teams from PA, MD and NJ. At the Club National Championship, the 2022/23 team tied a very talented rival team in the finals.

New England

Teams: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022

Tournaments: New England Cup, Champions Cup, The Grind, Capital Cup, New England Invitational, Stowe Festival, NEYLAT, Harvard Summer Splash

A model for success, 3d New England girls was 3d Lacrosse’s maiden voyage in girls lacrosse programming. Over the past four years, 3d New England has become a powerhouse program in the northeast. This summer, over 120 players trained with Manager Kathleen Ragan and her staff throughout New England. Coach Ragan has instilled an inherent urge for players to do the right thing both on and off the field and this has led to a culture of hard work, positivity, and teamwork.

Overall, the 3d New England girls teams finished with a remarkable record of 26-6-8. The 2018 team went on a run late in the summer with a 4-0 finish at the IWLCA Capital Cup impressing many college coaches. The 2019 team capitalized on quality, consistent training at the beginning of the summer and used that to finish 4-0 at Champions Cup against tough competition.

The 3d New England coaching staff did a remarkable job at holding their players to the highest standards and led the 2020 and 2021 teams to multiple championships. By far the most exciting team win came at the NEYLAT tournament where the girls won their division. The 2021’s took home the first place title at both the Stowe Lacrosse Tournament and the Summer Splash (tied).

Oregon

Teams: 2019, 2020/U15, U13, U11

Tournaments: DSO, Western Cup, Oregon Lacrosse Classic, The Riptide

Growth is a common theme for all of 3d’s girls programming and 3d Oregon girls does not fall outside of that standard. 3d Oregon girls, managed by Susan Bankowski, just wrapped up their third season and was able to offer pure-grade teams for the first time. They will have five teams this fall.

The 2019 team built up momentum throughout the summer, hitting their stride at Western Cup and closing the season out at the Oregon Lacrosse Classic with a 4-1 record. The second half of the former 3d Oregon U15 team, the 2020’s, also improved throughout the summer, placing 5th at Denver Shootout, reaching quarterfinals at The Riptide, and losing in the finals by a last minute goal at the Oregon Lacrosse Classic.

The 2021/22 team displayed lots of talent and skill right off the bat going into the playoff bracket at the Denver Shootout undefeated. They trained hard for The Riptide and showed maturity and growth as they took home the championship title in San Diego. The youngest 3d Oregon girls, the 2023/24 team continues to improve and fun while doing it. They played tough throughout the summer, often competing against older opponents but still striving to perfect 3d skills and concepts.

San Diego

Tri-State

Teams: 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023

In only its second year of operations, 3d Tri-State boasts two of the top 3d Girls Managers, Andi Raymond and Brittany Butler. The two coaches are constantly on the field and have spread 3d’s innovative methodology far and wide including coaching clinics for Harlem Lacrosse & Leadership and Gatorade’s Sweat with the Best contest winners. They remain humble and hardworking as they continue to grow the 3d Tri-State girls program through training players that simply want to get better.

3d Tri-State high school teams both found success this summer with both teams reaching playoffs in their respective tournaments. The 2018 team, a blended team with 3d Mid-Atlantic, made it to the semifinals of The Grind while the 3d Tri-State 2019 team, made it to the finals of The Grind and faced a tough 3d New England 2019 team.

3d Tri-State’s youth teams also experienced tremendous improvement and success this summer. With only two team practices under their belts, the 2020 team made it to the semifinals of the New England Invitational. The 2021 team, competing in the most competitive bracket of the NEYLAT, went 5-0 in pool play and advanced to the championship game where they only fell by one goal. The 2022 team was the most improved, excelling at their second and third tournaments and finishing their summer with a win over an established Maryland club team. The 2023 team finished 3-1-1 over the summer and will return this fall to train and soak up more lacrosse knowledge.

US Lacrosse National Championships

The US Lacrosse National Championship brings together the best young players and teams in the country. This year, alongside the boys teams, 3d Lacrosse sent a talented and skilled U13 team and U15 team. Recaps below.

U13 National

The U13 team, coached by Melissa Rausch (National, Colorado), Kristan Ash (Mid-Atlantic) and Kathleen Ragan (New England), put up quite a fight, making their way to the championship game in thrilling fashion. The team featured players from five out of the six 3d girls markets as they won a triple overtime battle over the Long Island Yellow Jackets. The girls eventually fell in the championship game but represented 3d Lacrosse extremely well.

U15 National

The U15 team, coached by Melissa Rausch (National, Colorado), Adam Sear (Southland), and Andi Raymond (Tri-State) placed 6th overall – an improvement from an already impressive 10th place finish in 2015. The team again featured players from five out of the six markets with more than 10 states represented.

Blaxers Blog: The Recent Wave of Notable Black Girls’ Lacrosse Recruits

US Lacrosse Magazine has partnered with Blaxers Blog to produce a series of stories that illuminate the minority lacrosse experience and promote the accomplishments of those individuals who have defied stereotypes to succeed in the sport.

Two of the most talented and diverse recruiting classes in some time are set to hit the NCAA women’s lacrosse scene in 2021 and 2022. A recent wave of notable Black girls’ lacrosse recruits have committed to college programs at a time when many programs struggle to diversify their rosters. Without proper representation, the sport will continue to appear uninviting to prospective players and fans.

According to the 2019 NCAA Demographic Database statistics, Black women account for 5 percent of total student-athletes (24,455) and 3 percent of women’s lacrosse players (429) across all three NCAA divisions.

“With COVID, my recruiting experience was bound to be unique from years prior,” UConn commit Alana Goldhaber said. “I would say that my recruiting experience was different than that of a white athlete, in the sense that I had to take a lot of things into consideration that other players might not have. I wanted to make sure I was going to a program and school that was welcoming and accepting to someone like me.”

That experience and outlook was shared by other college prospects.

“I remember as a child flipping through lacrosse magazines and going to collegiate games looking for girls who looked like me and many times failed to even find one person of color,” Boston College commit Chrystina Bennett said. “I think that having someone to watch and admire who looks like you will help inspire more young girls of color to pick up a stick.”

Representation in lacrosse media can indeed help spread the game.

“Usually it is hard to find a person of color on any lacrosse magazine or news article or on the big lax pages, and it can be very discouraging,” Syracuse commit Superia Clark said. “I would say it should not matter what you look like. If you have the heart and can play the game, then so be it.” 

Princeton commit Juliana Williams said college coaches need to be intentional in recruiting players of color.

“I think all coaches should be more active in recruiting players of color,” she said. “The sport of lacrosse is such an amazing game and having the opportunity to play has been one of the most important things to me. I think that growing the sport towards more people in the Black community is important so that other girls and even boys of color have the same opportunities to experience the game as I and many others have.”

Lucie Diatta

Hometown: Marshall, Mich.
High School: Culver Academy
Position: Midfield/Defense
Class: 2021

Diatta has committed to Dickinson College and has played at the club level with Triumph Lacrosse. While attending Culver Academy, Diatta has served as a Duchossois Scholar, a distinguished merit-based scholarship that emphasizes leadership and community engagement. Aside from lacrosse, Diatta is a fencer and soccer player at Culver. Diatta is also a member of the Fine Arts Society and speaks Mandarin Chinese and French.

Chrystina Bennett

Hometown: Owings Mills, Md.
High School: McDonogh School
Position: Defense
Class: 2022

Bennett has committed to Boston College and plays at the club level with M&D Lacrosse Black. 

“The coaching staff at Boston College allowed me to have a voice in the process and was able to listen to my ideas and experiences of the lack of diversity in the game,” she said. “Not only did I feel comfortable talking to them about these hard topics, but I felt that they were accepting of me not only as the player that I am, but the person.”

Superia Clark

Hometown: Dover, Del.
High School: Dover High School
Position: Midfield/Defense
Class: 2022

Clark has committed to Syracuse and plays at the club level with Eastern Shore Lacrosse Club. Clark has led Dover High School in draw controls and has started every game since her freshman year. Clark said her strengths are fighting for ground balls and scoring in one-on-one situations. Clark describes herself as coachable and a quick learner. Clark also plays field hockey at Dover.

Alana Goldhaber

Hometown: Stamford, Conn.
High School: Stamford High School
Position: Midfield
Class: 2022

Goldhaber has committed to UConn and plays at the club level with Sound Lacrosse. With her commitment, Goldhaber made history as the first Division I lacrosse recruit from Stamford High School. Since her freshman campaign, Goldhaber has started every game and was awarded 2019 Rookie of the Year honors after scoring 28 goals and dishing 40 assists. Goldhaber also runs track in the winter and cross country during the lacrosse offseason.

Amadi Higgins

Hometown: Bowie, Md.
High School: St. Vincent Pallotti High School
Position: Attack/Midfield/Draw Specialist
Class: 2022

Higgins has committed to Richmond and plays at the club level with Uproar Lacrosse. During her 2019 freshman season, Higgins was nominated to the Washington Post All-Met list after leading Bowie High School with 89 goals, 28 assists, 68 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. Higgins was also given the MPSSAA Minds in Motion Scholar Athlete Award. After transferring to Pallotti High School, Higgins improved her quick stick ability and power shots enroute to her National Lacrosse Classic 2022 All-Star Game roster nomination.

Chloe Jones

Hometown: Dover, Del.
High School: Ursuline Academy
Position: Midfield/Defense
Class: 2022

Jones joins Superia Clark, her best friend, as a Syracuse commit. Jones’ lacrosse resume is already impressive, having been named a WPLL Regional selection as well as an Under Armour All-American Junior Spotlight selection. Off the field, Jones has started a training program for inner-city girls ages 6 to 14. The free clinics are run every Tuesday through the Green Beret Project.

Asjia Roberson

Hometown: Redondo Beach, Calif.
High School: Redondo Union High School
Position: Defense/Midfield
Class: 2022

Roberson has committed to USC and plays at the club level with LA Fire Lacrosse. Roberson earned All-Academic Team honors in 2019 and 2020. Roberson was named team captain at Redondo Union for the upcoming 2021 season after winning 2020 Defender of the Year honors. She was a 2020 Under Armour U15 alternate, a 2020 Adrenaline All-America nominee and a 2020 WPLL Futures National Championship Summit participant.

Sydney Smith

Hometown: Mt. Airy, Md.
High School: McDonogh School
Position: Defense
Class: 2022

Smith has committed to Duke and plays at the club level with M&D Lacrosse Black. Smith effectively creates turnovers, secures ground balls, and excels on transition into the offensive zone. Duke runs a similar defensive scheme, and the Blue Devils ranked sixth nationally for caused turnovers per game (12.33) in 2020. Smith also serves as SGA Vice President at McDonogh. 

Juliana Williams

Hometown: Forest Hill, Md.
High School: Fallston High School
Position: Midfield/Draw Specialist/Defense
Class: 2022

Williams has committed to Princeton and plays at the club level with Sky Walkers Lacrosse. Williams has started every game since her freshman year as a midfielder and draw specialist. After her freshman season, Williams earned Second Team All-Harford County honors. Williams elusively wins ground ball battles after draws. She was an Under Armour U15 selection.

Coaching Staff

Coach Robinson is the current Boys Head Coach at Lake Mark High School and co-Founder/Director of Orlando Lacrosse Club.  Garrick has been involved in lacrosse since his youth days in Westminster, Maryland.  During that time as a player, coach, teacher, administrator, and entrepreneur he has structured success in the states of Maryland, Ohio, Florida, and in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 

Currently, he is entering his ninth year as head coach of Lake Mary High School where he has built a below average program into one of the top programs in the state of Florida.  His teams have twice qualified for the state final four, won four Seminole County Championships, and eight District Championships. He has been named Seminole County Coach of the Year three times and is an inducted member of the US Lacrosse South Florida Chapter Hall of Fame as a coach.  Prior to Lake Mary he was the head coach at Gulliver Prep in Miami for seven years where his teams consistently earned their way to the final four or state semi-finals over a seven-year period. He also created and lead the initial Palmer Trinity team in Miami to a state championship in 1992. During his tenure Coach Robinson has had at least one player named All American in his past seventeen years of coaching and his players have gone on to become impact players at top lacrosse colleges and universities such as Princeton, Duke, and Gettysburg among many others.  In addition, he was a successful high school varsity head football coach in the states of Ohio and Florida and was named Cincinnati Coach of the year in 1996.

 

As a player coach Robinson set records and earned honors for both his highly successful high school and college teams where he served as a captain for both programs in his senior years.  He was a three-year starter in goal for Westminster Senior High which has been a powerhouse program in the state of Maryland since his playing days.  As a four-year starter for Gettysburg College he still holds the records for most saves in a game, season, and career. 

90,000 The attendance of Russian arenas is growing very slowly

Football is considered our most popular sport, but it is difficult for clubs to dream of earning money on tickets. Indeed, with rare exceptions, the stadiums are not even half full. If you do not go deep into history, in the 90s, then the 2014/2015 season was the most disastrous for the Russian Football Premier League – with an average attendance of 10,250 matches. Back in the 2011/2012 season and in the following season, the figure was higher – 13 thousand.The next season – 2013/2014 – was no longer so rosy – 11.5 thousand on average. In the past two years, the number of viewers has gradually increased: at first 11 thousand, in the past – 11.5 thousand. But this statistics still remains deplorable.

The reasons were different, fan polls were conducted. In 2012, VTsIOM, commissioned by the RFU, conducted a sociological study, from which it turned out that the most pressing reasons are as follows.

High ticket prices. This was especially true for some reason in Moscow and St. Petersburg.At the same time, these are cities with the highest living standards in Russia. First of all, the viewers, of course, were repelled by the discrepancy between the price and the level of the spectacle and comfort offered for this price. With the opening of new stadiums (Otkrytie-Arena, VEB-Arena, St. Petersburg and Krasnodar stadiums, Kazan-Arena), the level of comfort has increased. Prices, however, too. For example, with the opening of the CSKA arena (we will talk in detail about the dynamics of attendance later), the army club still lacks spectators. At the beginning of the current season (in the first rounds of the championship, attendance is consistently above average for all clubs, since people miss football during the break), only 8,500 spectators came to the newcomer of the Premier League SKA-Khabarovsk on a July day.By the eighth round, interest usually falls, but almost twice as many came to Akhmat – 16,400, even though it was not a first category match. The fact is that CSKA reduced ticket prices just before the game against Akhmat.

Another reason is aggressive behavior of the fans. We are actively fighting this on the eve of the World Cup. But the media is also to blame, which has created exactly such an aggressive image of the fans.
