Syracuse Unveils SICK SLEEVELESS Nike Fast Break #Uniform
SYRACUSE, N. Y. – Nike, the leader in sport innovation, has teamed up with Syracuse men’s lacrosse for the debut of the Nike Fast Break uniform. The Orange will be the first team to wear the new uniform when it takes the field against No. 7 Notre Dame tomorrow at the Carrier Dome. Click for full ESPNU Lacrosse Lineup this Weekend, ACC and Johns Hopkins.
The Nike Fast Break uniform is the company’s lightest lacrosse uniform to date. It features a sleeveless jersey for increased shoulder mobility and is 17 percent lighter than the current Nike Vapor jersey. The new uniform shorts are eight percent lighter than the Nike Vapor shorts, and like the jersey, are made with four-way stretch woven fabric for added freedom of movement. Mesh panels on the back, zoned perforations under the arms and zoned mesh down the sides of the shorts have been implemented for increased cooling and breathability.
The new jerseys are white with “Syracuse” inscribed in orange across the chest and navy blue numbers in orange trim. In a unique touch, the jerseys feature an image of the Syracuse University Hall of Languages façade woven into the fabric on the shoulders and the program’s “Head, Heart, Hustle” motto is found inside the collar.
To complete the uniform, players will wear the short-sleeved navy blue Nike Pro Combat Hypercool SS Fitted Crew baselayer, further enhancing the uniform’s breathability. The sleeves feature the player’s jersey number.
In addition to the uniforms, Syracuse will don new navy blue Cascade R helmets. Similar to the Syracuse football helmets debuted in the fall, the navy blue fades into chrome orange on the helmet’s back panels. They feature SU’s signature block “S” logo in chrome orange on the sides. As part of the custom design, the letters HHH adorn the stainless steel facemask in another nod to the program’s “Head, Heart, Hustle” mantra.
Finally, Syracuse will debut Nike Vapor arm pads in blue and white, as well as blue and white Nike Vapor Elite and STX Stallion gloves to complete the signature look.
Syracuse apparel stores able to stay afloat despite lack of gameday rush

Manny’s co-owner Bill Nester remembers when hundreds of people would flow in and out of his Marshall Street store on Syracuse game days. Then the pandemic hit, and hundreds turned into “maybe a dozen or so,” Nester said. Until last Saturday, when 900 students were allowed into the Carrier Dome for a men’s lacrosse game and only 250 showed, the fan experience on the Hill was dormant for 370 days.
Shirt World owner Dave Jacobs had similar experiences. So did Scholars and Champs owner Bert Aufsesser, whose store is located downtown. The pandemic has pushed apparel store owners to their creative limits to sustain a viable income. Students have kept them afloat, too.
“It’s a lively street. It’s always been that way, forever,” Nester said of Marshall Street’s game day reputation. “It’s very strange. You’re lucky if you see one or two people walking down the street.”
Manny’s has served Syracuse University’s campus since 1949. The shop sells SU jerseys, hats, hoodies and accessories. Nester has been a partial owner since 1983 and has kept the business alive through the worst of SU’s football lulls and basketball’s postseason woes.

But the pandemic has been hard. Nester recalls that even in the aftermath of the Pan Am Flight 103 plane crash in 1988, students came in to buy Christmas gifts while sobbing. People were still allowed to enter and shop freely. Lines could snake all the way to the back of the store, Nester said.
Decades later, it’s the students who are keeping these businesses viable, said Jacob, who played as an SU placekicker in the 1970s. His family has owned the store since 1977, and without a website, sales are solely dependent upon who walks in.
More stories on local businesses during the pandemic:
“‘I’ve had students that would come in and say ‘Jeez, thanks for being here and being open,’” Jacobs said. “And our whole feeling was, ‘It’s not us, it’s you.’”
December and January were particularly tough for Scholars and Champs since students didn’t return for holiday shopping after Thanksgiving, Aufsesser said.
The long winter break, coupled with the lack of incentive to buy apparel for games since fans weren’t allowed in the Dome, dropped Aufsesser’s typical influx of 50 to 60 people a day to around 10, he said. But while the in-store sales are down, his online profits have increased.
“I guess it’s an advantage of being younger,” said Aufsesser, a Class of 2000 graduate. “I grew up with social media … I definitely know the power of Instagram and Facebook and how that can influence people to make a purchase right away.”

Scholars and Champs was just a year old when the first COVID-19 case was recorded in Onondaga County, but Aufsesser is confident the store will make it through the pandemic, just like the more established SU apparel stores. He has added name recognition among SU students because of popular customers, including Khalid, who came during his 2019 visit to Syracuse for Block Party. Former Bachelorette contestant Tyler Cameron came by his store as well.
Aufsesser used Instagram and Facebook to organize gift card giveaways and placed advertisements to promote the store’s “315” sale on March 15, a play on the Syracuse area code. All are ways to get people to “come check out the store,” he said.
It’s very strange. You’re lucky if you see one or two people walking down the street.
Bill Nester, Manny’s partial owner
For Jacobs, without a website or a social media page for online shopping, he’s turned to creative promotional offers like buy one, get one free specials where any item in the store comes with a free jacket or shirt with an orange and blue block ‘S’ on the front, among other items. Jacobs stands on Marshall Street daily, reminding passersby of the deal.
Manny’s does have its own website, but most of the purchases since the pandemic began have happened in store, Nester said. The store used Instagram to promote online discount cards and now St. Patrick’s-themed outerwear.
He’s hopeful that by the fall, regular, pre-pandemic business will start to resume. For Nester and Jacobs on Marshall Street, students played — and will continue to play — an integral role in their return to normalcy.
“These kids at the university have done a fantastic job of helping locals, us,” Jacobs said. “And we can see the light and understand, ‘Hey ya know what, we’re gonna get through this.’”

Rob Kavovit, Syracuse lacrosse player and Stuart resident, has died
The lacrosse exploits of Rob Kavovit will live forever on YouTube, so former teammates and longtime friends were focusing on a legacy of humility and kindness Wednesday, some 24 hours after learning the former All-American had died in Stuart.
He was 45 years old.
Kavovit was a highly-skilled attackman for the Yorktown High School in Yorktown Heights, New York, and won three state championships. He went on to star at Syracuse University where he won an NCAA crown in 1995.
“I’ve known Rob my whole life,” said ESPN analyst Paul Carcaterra, who grew up in lockstep with the perennial All-American. “He was a gentle soul. I spent every day with him and his mom and dad were like a second set of parents. They did an incredible job raising their six kids and all of their greatest attributes lived in Rob. He was kind. He was sensitive. We had a bond that is irreplaceable for me.”
The friends were inseperable on and off the lacrosse field.
“I’m louder. I wear my emotions on my sleeve,” added Carcaterra, who starred at Yorktown and Syracuse alongside Kavovit. “In all our years knowing each other, we didn’t get into one fight and that is 100% due to Rob because I argue with people. He was a calming force. He was always there. I try out for a team in middle school and Rob is there supporting me. I play high school lacrosse and Rob is there supporting me. I go to Syracuse and Rob is there supporting me. To have that safety net, you can’t measure the importance of that.”
RIP to my former teammate and roommate #15 Rob Kavovit. He was one of the best players of all time and an even better person. So fortunate to have had the opportunity to know you. Miss you already. #HHH ? pic.twitter.com/YXgenOoVn0
— Casey Powell (@caseypowell22) March 17, 2021
Kavovit leaves behind his wife, Marion, and two young sons. Details of his death were unclear and arrangements are pending.
“Hopefully people will remember him as somebody who always made the people around him better, whether they were around him five minutes or five years,” said former Yorktown classmate and teammate Brian Kuczma, who starred collegiately at Johns Hopkins University. “We became rivals in college, but always came home to hang out. That’s when I really got close to Rob. He was in my wedding party. He became a physical therapist and when my mom was dealing with health issues, he made time for her on a daily basis. That is just who he was. I’m kind of in shock right now.”
Word of his passing began to circulate late Tuesday.

In high school, Kavovit totaled 152 goals and 158 assists. He won New York state championships with the Yorktown Huskers in 1991, 1992 and 1993, starring at attack alongside Carcaterra and Dave Marr.
He was textbook in between the lines.
“I was at Lakeland (New York) a couple of years behind him in school, but we used to ride our bikes to all the games and Rob was the guy you always watched and said, ‘Man, that’s how you play lacrosse,” Yorktown head coach Sean Carney said. “He’s one of those players who always comes up whenever I’m talking about attackman. He’s a larger-than-life figure in lacrosse, but when you meet him, Rob is so egoless. This is such a devastating loss.”
Kavovit is third on the program’s all-time list behind Tim and Tom Nelson.
“He was a lot of fun to play lacrosse with,” said Marr, who graduated in 1992 and became a rival while playing for Johns Hopkins. “Rob’s skills were so much better than anyone on that team. He didn’t care if he scored, got the first assist or the second assist. It was just about playing lacrosse and having fun. And talking with Rob, you would never know he was a three-time All-American or a national champion. He was so humble.”
In college, he played in the shadow of a legend, Casey Powell, and still became a star. Kavovit established a Syracuse record with 10 assists during the 1995 NCAA tournament and scored four goals in a title game win over Maryland. He was a three-time All-American with four appearances in the Final Four.
“He was the most unassuming superstar Syracuse has ever had and he lived that off the field, too,” Carcaterra said. “He never wanted the spotlight. When we were kids walking in the woods debating on doing one thing or another, he let me decide. That’s always who he was.”
Kavovit was inducted by Carcaterra into the Hudson Valley Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2006.
“There are only four players in the history of Syracuse lacrosse with 125 goals and 120 assists, it’s the three Powells and Rob Kavovit,” Carcaterra added. “That’s all you need to know. … Rob made me. Without him on the field, I would’ve been lost. We won three state championships together, we won a national title together. We were co-captains our senior year. I did everyting with him and I was nothing without him.”

Before moving to Florida, he was running a physical therapy practice in Yorktown and came looking to help the program out.
Kavovit was happy behind the scenes, providing hands-on lessons for the junior varsity.
“He jumped right in and helped with the JV for a few years,” said Marr, who coached the Huskers from 2003-2016. “No ego. He was just there helping the kids and giving back to Yorktown lacrosse.”
Conor Gately was all ears.
“He came back to work with the attack group,” said the 2012 lohud.com Player of the Year who starred collegiately at Marquette after he played at Yorktown. “We grew up hearing about Rob Kavovit and all the heroics. Then we meet this guy and he’s the most down-to-earth dude ever. He was able to get 15- and 16-year old kids to open up and try a new way of doing things. He was chill. I was very lucky to learn from one of the guys who set the standard.
“He was the man. He was the man.”
A gofundme account has been set up for the family. It is called “Our Village for Marion Kavovit & Boys.”

90,000 ?Cornell Big Red
Third Cornell Bear, Touchdown III Poster of baseball player Cornell, 1908.
At Cornell Big Red is the unofficial name for the sports teams and other competing teams that Cornell University represent, located in Ithaca, New York. The university sponsors 36 varsity sports as well as numerous intramural and club teams. Cornell competes in the NCAA Division I as part of the Ivy League. The men’s and women’s ice hockey teams compete in the EHCA Hockey League. In addition, teams compete in the National Intercollegiate Women’s Fencing Association, the Collegiate Sprint Football League, the Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges (EARC), the Eastern Association of Women’s Rowing Colleges (EAWRC), the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association, and the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA).
History
Cornell’s teams didn’t have an official name until 1905, when a recent alumnus, Romain Berry ’04, wrote the lyrics to a new football song. The text contained the words “big red team” and the nickname stuck. [2]
Cornell does not have an official mascot; Nonetheless, the carry has long been a symbol of Cornell Athletics. In 1915, a live bear named Landing first appeared at football matches to represent Cornell. The current version, which appears at many of Cornell’s sporting events, is the brown bear costume (the live bear was replaced in 1939) worn by an undergraduate student; it is called “Big Red Bear” or nicknamed “Touchdown”.And recently, a “red man,” a man wearing a skin-tight red suit, was seen running across the field of men’s soccer matches.
Cornell’s colors, red and white carnelian, date back to University Opening Day on October 7, 1868. [3]
Many of Cornell’s athletic directors have made significant contributions to student athletics in general, including Romaine Berry, James Leena, and Robert Kane.
Big Red Sports is featured in two campus editions: Cornell Daily Sun and Cornell Review, as well as various blogs. [4]
Fight Songs
The fight songs number is associated with Cornell sports teams such as The Big Red Team, Fight for Cornell and Cornell’s New Fight Song, [5] but the song Pass my regards to Davy, “the oldest used and traditionally written by three Cornellians in 1904. The song is sung to the tune of George M. Cohen’s “Say hello to Broadway.”

Facilities
The football, lacrosse and sprint teams play in the Schöllkopf Course, which has a capacity of 25,597 people. Ice hockey teams play at Lynah Rink, which seats 4,267 people. The Cornell men’s wrestling team competes at the 1,100-capacity Friedman Wrestling Center. Cornell soccer teams play at Charles F. Berman Field on the southeast side of campus. In August 2000, stands and lighting fittings for over 1,000 people were completed. [42] Field hockey at Marsha Dodson’s field. Cornell’s men’s and women’s athletics teams compete at Barton Hall, a converted military indoor track hangar and the Robert J.Kane for an open track. There are also facilities about 2 miles east of campus that can be used in a variety of ways, but they are primarily used by Cornell’s men’s soccer team for training. Other campus facilities include Robert Trent Jones (a Cornell graduate) designed golf course, baseball Hoy Field, Nimand • Robison’s Softball Course, Oxley Equestrian Center, and numerous courses and gyms. Some of the sports venues along Tower Road are known as “alumni courses” because the Cornell Alumni Association funded the evaluation and development of these courses in exchange for a promise that they would remain open-ended. Subsequent land exchanges resulted in the Agricultural College being granted building plots in the eastern end of the fields in exchange for the land that would become Schöllkopf Field and Hoy Field. [43] Alumni Fields became the site of the Synchrotron Laboratory underground. [44] Since the 1970s, some of the fields have been used as sites for new biological structures and have been replaced by new fields along Jessup Road. Today, facilities are scattered across the campus, with tennis and basketball courts adjacent to several hostels. In addition, the Athletics Division operates Helen Newman Hall (formerly the Women’s Athletics Building) and the Noyes Center as remote fitness centers. [45]
John Collier Class of 1917 Boathouse
Programs for men and women are housed in John Collier’s 1917 Boathouse and Doris B. Robison Boathouse on Cayuga Bay. Both boathouses were renovated in 2011 for $ 8 million. [46]
Rivalry
Cornell maintains informal athletics rivalries with other collegiate institutions. Cornell’s main rival is Harvard. The men’s ice hockey team has a historic rivalry with Harvard that dates back to 1910 and includes many championship meetings. This rivalry was highlighted in the 1970 novel Love Story and this is a film adaptation. Traditionally, when Harvard plays with the men’s ice hockey team at Cornell’s Lynah Rink, some Big Red fans throw fish on the ice. [47] The historical rivalry with Boston University, from the time when Cornell and Boston University played ECAC Hockey to the establishment of Hockey East, is supported by a biennial game at Madison Square Garden, dubbed “Red Hot Hockey”, in Thanksgiving weekend.
Cornell and the University of Pennsylvania are longtime rivals in football. Since their first meeting in 1893, they have played 122 games against each other, making it the fifth most popular rivalry in college football. [48] Cornell’s soccer streak against the University of Pennsylvania and Dartmouth College drew the longest in 1919 college-college football matches. [49] Cornell and Penn play for the Cup of Trustees. They are only surpassed by the Lehigh-Lafayette Series, which has been operating continuously since 1897.
In polo, the men’s and women’s teams continue to rival the University of Virginia and the University of Connecticut.
For men’s lacrosse, Cornell and Princeton University have historically been perennial favorites in the Ivy League, and playing at Princeton is usually the most anticipated ivy game. Northern state school mates, Syracuse University and Hobart, are also considered Cornell’s lacrosse rivals. “Cornell will face a familiar foe at the 2004 opening.” CSTV sports media CBS. Top 10 reasons why people ride motorcycles
I remember how I was restoring a Suzuki Intruder tank, which got a dent due to a fall. Covered with abrasives, putty, degreaser. In general, it was clear that the bike was undergoing serious repairs. They came to me with a question:
– Why? Why are you going to restore it?
And then I realized that it is difficult to explain to someone far from loving a motorcycle why you spend the devil knows how much time with a piece of iron in your hands.
Many people understand that the motorcycle is a choice, not a harsh necessity. A car can be a necessary decision – a riding horse to take the kids to school, to work and to the dacha on weekends, a bunch of different rubbish.
A motorcycle out of despair can be chosen only by people who live in places where it is too difficult / expensive to get to by car, and if something to push a motorcycle out of a rut or a mud road on their own is more realistic than a tightly stuck car.
So what makes people choose a motorcycle?
Economy and speed of movement
Even though a good motorcycle is as good as a car, it is often cheaper to maintain. I do not argue that everything is learned in comparison and depending on what to compare with what. Many people believe that motorcycle life costs an unrealistically large amount of money, but let’s be honest, even hippies don’t live cheap in modern times.
The bike is convenient in large cities, saving time in traffic jams, as well as in its modest dimensions, which make it easier to find a parking space, even if some parking lots are brazenly trying to demand the same money for a motorcycle as for a car.
In the summer on a motorcycle it is definitely faster and more interesting to get there for any business. That is why motorists often switch to two wheels in the summer.
PR and Public Opinion
“I won’t be like everyone else,” thought everyone who bought a motorcycle under the influence of pop culture.
Motorcyclists have their own unique roles. There is no escape from him. Human stereotypes live for a very long time. Thousands of people made the decision to switch to a motorcycle due to the fact that somewhere a mesmerizing exhaust thundered, someone gave a ride in the back seat or gave it to steer. The great interest of people in the image of a motorcyclist leads to the culture of both romantics and reckless people. Both are looking for self-realization and happiness.
Public opinion constantly looks at motorcycle culture as a mischief-maker who is always learning something, a young mischievous person.
The image of a motorcyclist is widely publicized and recognizable, many want to be involved in this, to be like “that guy” or “that girl”.
Excitement and adrenaline
Motorcycles are generally a controversial topic, because they are loved and feared for the tickling awareness of the dangerous consequences of possible accidents – like walking on a knife blade or thin ice.People are delighted with the sharpening of all senses while driving a motorcycle. In particular, it concerns the feeling of “here and now”. Ordinary mortals get tired of the insipid life, routine and regularity blur the eye. A motorcycle becomes a solution to problems for a separate number of people, a pepper that spices up the world around us. Sitting on a bike, everyone realizes the fatality of the error. Isn’t this one of the most gambling games with high stakes on health and life?
The other side of the coin lies in dependence.People who are adrenaline junkies, those who want to experience the thrill. From time to time they themselves are looking for how to get a new surge of emotions and sometimes go too far.
A sense of separateness and unity
The second obvious contradiction in motorcycle life is a fine psychological line. All people on earth are united by loneliness, but everyone has their own personal one. A motorcycle allows a person to show individuality, to feel like a separate unit in the stream, but at the same time it allows you to join the motorcycle culture, which everyone knows about, thanks to public opinion and PR.
He’s like a motorcyclist, either a lone wolf or a passionate supporter of the club – so many think when they come to the decision to buy a bike. This is noticeable in the way newcomers seek to join the company or, on the contrary, position themselves as a motorcyclist who is on his own.
It turns out that the motorcyclist is simultaneously looking for freedom and self-sufficiency, but wants to be involved in the group
.
Sports
Sport is a separate volumetric topic, because there are no random people here.People come to motorsport for self-development, for realization, with the desire to catch luck by the tail and the excitement of the player.
Travel and Discovery
The argument for buying a motorcycle is tourism on two wheels. Summertime is famous for a surge in both short and long distance travel. Not everyone likes the idea of traveling by car; the romance of the road on a bike attracts many. If you are using a motorcycle outside the racetrack or in the city for commuting, then travel is definitely one of the top reasons to buy a motorcycle.
Creativity
Someone perceives a motorcycle as just a technique, but for someone it is art. Any custom builder will tell you that making a motorcycle is creativity. The motorcyclist expresses himself through tuning, through the lifestyle within the culture, even through the choice of equipment. Motorcycles are bought not only for driving, but also for the love of history, mechanics, and art. If the motorcycle did not belong to creativity, engineers and designers would not create it unique in shape and style.Nobody would bother with the options for installing a particular part in a certain place. While some would rightly call this creating a competitive model, why shouldn’t even this be considered creativity?
In the motorcycle industry, there were stages in which a motorcycle had to ride under any incredible coincidences, without discounts on beauty, in the early stages of production development. Over time, people still began to decorate and work on them, because the craving for creativity and beauty is as natural to a person as contradiction.
Change
People change to motorcycle in search of change. Some change jobs, others change their social circle, and someone decides to go to meet their dreams, buys a bike in order to radically change their lives.
Self-Development
Owning a motorcycle involves acquiring certain skills. Pilots learn and improve their knowledge in motorcycle schools, exchange experiences with other bike owners. The presence of a motorcycle forces a person to delve into technical subtleties, as well as to change psychologically. The main trump cards of motorcyclists are self-control and attentiveness. With confidence in themselves and their skills, pilots increase the power of the bike or move to another class of motorcycles, try motorsport.
In any case, owning a bike makes you more often think about responsibility for your decisions, adequately perceive the danger of a possible fall, and also learn to control your body and mind so as not to make stupid mistakes.
Pleasure
The most important reason the above boil down to is pleasure. Bike owners really love what they do, so every year they wait for the season to start, or even never finish it at all. The pleasure that a person gets from driving a motorcycle makes the pilot improve his skills, work on himself. The pleasure of discovering and traveling makes him plan more and more new routes, share his findings. The pleasure of self-realization in motorsport or motorcycle culture, the joy of communicating with like-minded people – all this is worth joining life on two wheels.
Separately, I would like to recommend a worthy documentary film that answers the question: why do we ride motorcycles? 2013’s “Why We Ride” brings together the stories of very different people, showing the versatility of the love of motorcycles.

90,000 Joe Biden and his family: everything you need to know about the new US President and those close to him
Today, January 20 in the United States (at 20:00 Moscow time), the inauguration of the country’s new president-elect Joe Biden will take place. After that, he will officially take over his duties and, along with his wife Jill, will move to the White House.Biden, 78, who served as vice president under President Barack Obama, will lead the country for four years. After that, he said, he will not run for a new presidential term. We will tell you about who will now be at the helm of the United States, his family and loved ones in our material.
Joe Biden
Family and education
Joe Biden was born on November 20, 1942 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the son of Joseph Robinette Biden and Catherine Biden. He was the eldest of four children of the Biden family.
Initially, Joe Biden’s family was wealthy, but then his father began to have financial difficulties. In the 1950s, an economic crisis hit Scranton, and Joseph Biden could not find a permanent job for a long time. The family moved several times, and then the head of the family managed to become a successful seller of used cars, and he was able to provide for his wife and children.
Joe Biden
As a child, Biden suffered from severe stuttering (it remained with him for the rest of his life), for which classmates teased him, calling him Dash (dash in English means a dash, a dash.- Approx. ed.), comparing his manner of speaking with Morse code, or called him Bye-Bye for his attempt to pronounce his surname. Joe tried very hard to avoid stuttering, resorting to various tricks: he spoke in advance in his head what he wanted to say, uttered individual phrases, holding pebbles in his mouth.
Joe Biden attended Archmere Academy Catholic Preparatory School in Claymont, Delaware, where he was elected class president. He was also part of the school football team and proved to be a successful player.
After high school, he entered the University of Delaware, where in 1965 he received a bachelor’s degree in two specialties: “history and political science” and “English”.
In 1968, a doctorate in law was added to his academic record, and he was soon admitted to the Delaware Bar. Joe Biden did not serve in the army due to asthma.
Career
In the same year, Joe Biden joined the Wilmington law firm, run by prominent local Republican William Prickett, and, as he later said, “considered himself a Republican.”
He first practiced as a public defender, and then went to work for a company run by a local Democrat activist. Together with another colleague, they founded their own law firm.
In 1970, Joe Biden spoke out against desegregation buses, which the US government believed would help overcome racial segregation among schoolchildren. Many years later, Kamala Harris, who ran for the presidential elections in 2020, will recall this political position to him in her first debates.
Kamala Harris and Joe Biden
At the age of 29, he bypassed incumbent Republican Senator Cale Boggs to become the fifth youngest American ever elected to the US Senate, although he had little or no money to campaign and his chances of winning were minimal.
Biden was greatly assisted by members of his family, who personally met with voters and distributed brochures with key points of his program. He advocated the withdrawal of troops from Vietnam, paid attention to environmental issues, civil rights, talked about fairer taxation and health care reform. In the months leading up to the election, he was 35 percentage points behind his opponent, but thanks to his energy and an impressive young family, he was able to win.
Joe and Jill Biden
Joe Biden ran for president for the first time in 1987. But after it was revealed that he included in his speech the words of the leader of the British Labor Party, Neil Kinnock, without referring to him, left the race.
In 2002, Joe Biden voted for the war in Iraq and was present at the White House when then President George W. Bush signed a resolution to use fire in Iraq. A few years later, Biden called it a mistake.
Joe Biden was known for his long and incoherent speeches. It is said that while listening to one of his Senate speeches, Barack Obama (then still a Senator) wrote in a note to his aide: “Shoot me right now.”
Biden ran for the presidency for the second time in 2008, but dropped out after finishing fifth in the Iowa campaign.Seven months after that, Barack Obama appointed him vice president.

Joe Biden served as Vice President from 2009 to 2017. It was he who was responsible for US policy in the war with Iraq. By 2012, he had made eight trips there, but his control over this issue has noticeably weakened after the United States withdrew its troops from Iraq in 2011.
Barack Obama and Joe Biden
Members of the Obama administration said that Biden’s role in the White House was to be in opposition and to get others to stand up for their opinions. In foreign policy, he maintained closer economic ties with Russia.
In 2012, he infuriated Barack Obama when he publicly declared his support for same-sex marriage. Then the presidential campaign of Obama, who was re-elected for a second term, was actively gaining momentum. Biden made his statement without the consent of the administration. Obama planned to express his position on this issue only a few months later, so as not to lose conservative voters (Biden himself advised him not to rush to make a public statement).
Barack and Michelle Obama, Jill and Joe Biden
In 2016, Joe Biden again expressed his desire to run for the presidency, but Barack Obama persuaded him not to do this, believing that Hillary Clinton would have a better chance of winning. Then the people of the United States voted for Donald Trump.
Joe Biden supported the campaign against violence against women and in 2017 teamed up with Lady Gaga in support of the It’s On Us campaign against sexual violence.

Personal life
Joe Biden met his first wife, Nelia, in the Bahamas during his student holidays. On the second date with her beloved Joe, there was not enough money to pay the restaurant bill, and Nelia discreetly handed him $ 20 under the table. When Joe Biden first met his future mother-in-law, she asked him what he was going to do for a living, and he told her that he planned to become president.
In 1966, at the age of 24, Joe Biden married Nelia, who was his age. Her parents were against this marriage, since they did not want to give their daughter to a Catholic. Nevertheless, she disobeyed them. The wedding ceremony took place at the Catholic Church in Scanitels, New York.

Three years later, their son Bo was born, and a year later they became parents for the second time – their son Hunter was born. But Joe Biden also dreamed of a daughter. His dreams were destined to come true – the third child of the spouses was a girl whom they named Naomi.
The only good thing in this world is children,
– Joe spoke.
Joe Biden with sons
A year after Naomi was born and just weeks after Joe’s election to the Senate, tragedy struck the Biden family. On December 18, 1972, Nelia and her one-year-old daughter were killed in a car accident.Joe Biden’s wife’s car was hit by a tractor with a trailer. The couple’s sons, who were also in the car, survived but were rushed to the hospital with injuries: Beau broke his leg and sustained other injuries, and Hunter was diagnosed with head injuries.
After the tragedy, Joe Biden wanted to resign as Senator, but Senate Majority Leader Mike Mansfield convinced him not to do so. Joe Biden was sworn in as a senator in his son Bo’s hospital ward.
After the accident, Joe Biden stayed at his home in Wilmington, Delaware. For more than 30 years, he traveled to work in Washington on the high-speed train (he spent three hours a day on the road) and called his crew his family. Joe even set up barbecues at home for conductors and service staff.
Three years after the death of his wife and daughter, Joe Biden met English teacher Jill Tracy Jacobs on a blind date. They got married two years later.
Jill helped me understand that my family can be whole again,
– he wrote in his memoirs.
Jill and Joe Biden
Bo, Ashley and Hunter Biden
In 1981, when Joe was 39 and his wife 30, the couple had a daughter, Ashley. Hunter and Bo were happy to see their sister born and immediately began to take care of her, showing great love.
She always looked up to them. Wherever they went, she always wanted to go with them, and they took her with them,
– said Jill.

In 1988, Joe Biden underwent brain surgery – he was diagnosed with a vascular aneurysm.Three months later, he underwent a second operation.
In 2015, another tragedy happened in Joe Biden’s family – his son Bo, who was 46 years old, died of brain cancer.
What to expect from him
Joe Biden plans to expand the Affordable Care Act passed by Barack Obama, promises to provide free education to low-income families, focus on climate change mitigation, raise minimum wages and focus on economic recovery, and actively fight the coronavirus pandemic.
As for foreign policy, although Biden calls China the main competitor of the United States, he considers Russia the biggest threat to America. So Russia can hardly count on improving relations with the United States. According to experts, the United States will impose new sanctions, which will have an extremely negative impact on the economy of our country.
And the story of the poisoning of Alexei Navalny and his arrest immediately after arriving home will only further untie Biden’s hands for the introduction of new sanctions against Russia.
Jill Biden
Family and education
Jill Tracey Jacobs (maiden name of the first lady of the United States) was born in Hamonton, New Jersey, the son of Donald, who worked as a bank teller, and housewife Bonnie. Jill was the eldest of five sisters.
She graduated from Upper Moreland High School in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, and entered Brandywine Junior College at 16 to study merchandising, but only studied one semester there because she was not interested.
A few years later, she entered the University of Delaware College of Arts and Sciences. During her studies, Jill took a year off and worked as a model for a local agency in Wilmington. At 24, she graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
And in 1981, while pregnant, she received her MA in Reading Technique from West Chester College. Six years later, Jill Biden earned her Master of Arts in English from Villanova University.
In 2007 she defended her dissertation and received her doctorate. True, she was criticized for her scientific work – the American journalist of National Review Kyle Smith called Jill’s work “rubbish” and “sloppy, poorly written, non-academic” work.
Jill Biden’s dissertation is not a supplement to the general body of human knowledge. This is not a showcase of expertise in a specific topic or broad field. It’s a gasping, wheezing, fragile little Disney forest creature that begs you to pay attention to the effort it makes to be what it emulates. At the same time, it suffers such a miserable failure that any witness of its incompetence should feel compelled only out of politeness to invite him to the pedestal and give him a prize for participation,
– he wrote.
Career
Jill began her career as a substitute teacher at Wilmington and then taught English at St Mark’s School in Wilmington for a year. Around this time, she worked in Joe Biden’s Senate office, which included weekly outreach trips to the southern regions of the state.
She taught English as a reading specialist and also taught history to emotionally unstable students. She also taught at the Rockford Center Psychiatric Hospital for five years.
She spent a total of thirteen years teaching in public high schools.
Joe and Jill Biden
From 1993 to 2008, Biden was a faculty member at the Stanton Campus, Delaware Tech Community College. She taught essay writing to lagging students, instilling in them self-confidence.
I feel I can make their lives different. I just love these people and feel comfortable with them. I love women who go back to school and get their diplomas,
– she said.
Moving to Washington in 2009, she began teaching English at Northern Virginia Community College, the country’s second largest community college. She tried to maintain the same lifestyle and shared a closet with another professor. She advised the Secret Service agents accompanying her to dress as discreetly as possible, and her students often did not know who she was.
Usually when my students ask if I am married to the vice president, I answer that I am his relative,
– she said.
In addition, Jill has always shared her benefits with fellow faculty members by giving them tickets to various White House events. And when she needed to go on a trip abroad with her husband or meet the Obamas with him, she always asked permission from the college.
When her husband left the position of vice president, Jill continued to teach at the college and received a salary of about $ 100,000 a year.
Teaching is not what I do, it is who I am
– she wrote on her twitter.
Role in politics
Although Jill personally opposed the war in Iraq, she did not want her husband to run for the 2004 presidential election. She even interrupted an important meeting discussing the possibility by walking into her in a swimsuit with the word “no” written on her belly.
But after George W. Bush was re-elected as president, she began to persuade her husband to run for president again.
I wore black for a week. I could not believe that he won, because I felt that everything was already bad. I was against the war in Iraq and told Joe that he should change it,
– she shared.
During Joe Biden’s 2008 campaign, she continued to teach, and on weekends she joined her husband helping him in his work. She said that as a potential first lady, she would take an active role in solving the problem of education, but at the same time stated that she would not participate in the meetings of the Cabinet of Ministers.
I’m apolitical, if at all possible, having been married to Joe for 30 years,
– she said then.
After becoming the second lady of the United States, Jill Biden continued to work, which was rare, since the wives of vice presidents do not usually work. She became the first wife of a vice president to do paid work. Jill is going to continue teaching as the first lady of the United States.
Joe and Jill Biden, Barack and Michelle Obama
As Second Lady, Jill Biden focused on supporting military families. In 2011, they joined forces with former First Lady Michelle Obama to launch a nationwide campaign to help veterans returning from the war and military spouses find career opportunities.Jill has also worked to raise awareness about breast cancer prevention.
Michelle Obama and Jill Biden
In the 2012 US presidential election, in which her husband ran for vice president, Biden played a rather modest role. She did not cut her teaching schedule and made only a few solo appearances as part of her husband’s election campaign. This showed her dislike for both politics and public speaking.
Jill Biden and Michelle Obama
In her husband’s last presidential campaign, Jill Biden was more active – she even took a full semester of college leave to help her husband in the election race.Jill made several public appearances in Iowa and was willing to contact voters, giving them her email address in case they had questions for her.
Jennifer Aniston and Jill Biden
Jill was also actively involved in the selection process for the role of Vice President, which resulted in the selection of Kamala Harris.
After Joe Biden’s inauguration, his 69-year-old wife, Jill, became the first woman since Barbara Bush to hold the positions of both the second and first lady of the United States, as well as the first Italian-American first lady in the country’s history.
Personal life
In 1970, 19-year-old Jill married former college football player Bill Stevenson. Their marriage lasted four years.
A year later, she met her second husband. Jill and Joe Biden’s date was organized by his brother Frank, who had known her since college. Even though Joe was almost nine years her senior, she was still very impressed with his more formal looks and demeanor compared to the college boys she knew. After their first date, she told her mother that she had finally met a gentleman.

Meanwhile, she was going through a scandalous divorce proceedings with her ex-husband. Jill had hoped to get a stake in Stevenson’s Stone Balloon bar in Newark, but by a court order she was left with nothing.
Joe and Jill Biden were married on June 17, 1977 at the UN Catholic Chapel in New York. Joe proposed to Jill five times before she finally accepted.Jill did not want to be in the spotlight of the public and sought to develop her own career. Moreover, she could not decide to take on the responsibility of raising Joe’s two young sons. Nevertheless, she fell in love with them and raised them as her children (although she did not officially adopt). Bo and Hunter called her Mom.

In 1981, Jill gave birth to daughter Ashley and took a break from her career for two years to focus on raising children.
The loss of her stepson Bo Jill in 2015 was very difficult and said that her life had changed in an instant.
During his illness, I sincerely believed that he would live up to the moment when he closed his eyes. I never lost hope
– she said.
Jill said that after the death of Bo, she lost her faith and did not attend church for four years, and only in 2019 she began to regain it.

Bo Biden is the firstborn of Joe Biden and his first wife, Nelia. He was born on February 3, 1969. Bo graduated from Archmere Academy High School, his father’s alma mater. Beau Biden ran for Delaware Attorney General in 2006. He beat his rival, veteran prosecutor and assistant US attorney Ferris Wharton, by about five percentage points to win the election.
As attorney general, Biden has supported and enforced stricter penalties for sex offenders.
Bo and Joe Biden
When his father became vice president, many expected Bo to run for his seat in the Senate. But he chose not to, in part because he wanted to focus on pursuing former pediatrician Earl Bradley, convicted of child molestation and rape.
In November 2010, Bo Biden was elected to a second term as Attorney General.
Bo worked and was friends with Kamala Harris, who served as California’s attorney general. She admitted that it was thanks to Beau that she really got to know Joe Biden not only as a political leader, but simply as a person, a person.Kamala Harris continues to fondly remember Bo Biden in her social networks to this day.

Beau did not intend to run for a third term, but announced his desire to run for the 2016 Delaware governor. Joe Biden believed that his son had bright prospects in politics, and was confident that one day he could become the president of the United States. However, fate decreed otherwise.
Military service
In 2003, at the age of 34, Beau enlisted in the Army and was promoted to Major in the Legal Division of the United States Army.In the fall of 2008, he was sent to Iraq, where he spent a year.

Personal life
Beau Biden married Holly Oliver in 2002. Two years later, their daughter Natalie was born, and in 2006 they had a son, Robert Hunter, named after his uncle.

Natalie was just a child when her grandfather took over as vice president of the United States, and grew up in the center of public attention. Last year, she appeared during a virtual Democratic national convention where she helped introduce her grandmother, Jill.
I would say that she is not an ordinary grandmother. She is a mischievous woman, very naughty,
– Natalie noted.

Joe Biden with his grandson Hunter
About a year after Bo’s death, his wife began dating his younger brother, Hunter, who was still officially married. The Biden family supported this union and, according to Hunter, reacted with understanding to his romance with the widow of his older brother.
Holly and I are incredibly lucky to have found love and support for each other during such a difficult time. We are so lucky to have family and friends who have supported us in everything,
– Hunter spoke.
But their romance did not last long – the couple broke up in 2017.

Education and career
Hunter Biden was born almost exactly one year after the birth of his older brother Bo.His birthday fell on February 4, 1970. Like his father and brother, he also attended Archmere Academy. At the age of 22, he graduated from Georgetown University with a bachelor’s degree in history. To pay for school and housing, Hunter took any job: parked the cars of the rich at events and unloaded boxes of frozen beef.
After graduating from university, he volunteered for a year at a church in Portland.
He graduated from Yale Law School in 1996 and then joined MBNA America Bank, a bank holding company, where he became vice president two years later.
His career continued with the US Department of Commerce, where he worked in e-commerce. In 2006, former US President George W. Bush included him on the board of directors of the state-owned railway company Amtrak. Hunter resigned shortly after his father became vice president of the United States.

In 2013, he joined the board of directors of the Chinese private equity fund BHR Partners, in which he acquired a 10% stake four years later. In 2019, Hunter Biden announced his resignation from the board of directors at the firm, citing the fact that he received a “flurry of false accusations” of crimes in Ukraine from Donald Trump.
Activities in Ukraine
In 2014, Hunter Biden joined the board of directors of Burisma Holdings, an oil and gas company owned by Ukrainian businessman and former politician Nikolai Zlochevsky, who became a hero of money laundering investigations in the immediate aftermath of the April 2014 events in Ukraine.Biden was hired to help the company with corporate governance policies. Hunter Biden’s work at a Ukrainian company spawned a conspiracy theory, claiming that Hunter Biden’s activities were suspicious due to his lack of experience in the energy industry. According to the conspiracy theory, Joe Biden, then vice president, allegedly withheld loan guarantees and put pressure on the Ukrainian authorities, demanding the dismissal of the country’s chief prosecutor Viktor Shokin. Shokin was heavily criticized for suppressing anti-corruption investigations in the country. In March 2016, the Ukrainian parliament voted to remove him from office.
Joe and Hunter Biden
In particular, without any evidence, Donald Trump in 2019 accused Joe Biden of seeking the dismissal of Shokin in order to protect his son’s misconduct in a Ukrainian company (he accused the Biden family of corruption). The former US president even asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to initiate an investigation into the Biden case. As a result, in September 2019, the US House of Representatives initiated impeachment proceedings against Trump on the grounds that he could use his presidential powers to harm Joe Biden’s presidential campaign.
Hunter Biden worked at Burisma Holdings until his term expired in April 2019. It is noted that his salary in the company was 50 thousand dollars a month.
Personal life
While working as a volunteer at the church, Hunter Biden met Kathleen Boole, who became pregnant with their first child three months after meeting her lover. She and Hunter were immediately married and have been married for 22 years. They have three children in common: 26-year-old Naomi, 20-year-old Finnegan and 18-year-old Macy.

Hunter Biden has struggled with alcohol and drug addiction for many years.
He had been sober for seven years, but had a relapse in November 2010 after drinking three Bloody Mary cocktails on a business trip to Madrid.
Every family has addictions. I was in this darkness. I’ve been in this tunnel – it’s an endless tunnel. You can’t get rid of it.You must figure out how to deal with it yourself,
– he said.
After the death of his older brother, his addictions intensified.
During the first presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump in September 2020, the former president of the United States hit an opponent on a sick person and mentioned 50-year-old Hunter’s drug problems.
My son, like many people you know, had drug problems. But he overcame them. He fixed everything. He worked on it. And I’m proud of him,
– said Joe Biden.
