Ethan Messer had eight points with five goals to lead Santa Margarita’s boys lacrosse team to a 15-7 win over Los Alamitos Thursday in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs at Santa Margarita High.

Theo Le had four goals and a pair of assists for Santa Margarita (16-2). Brendan McGibbons added three goals and Zach Kim grabbed 11 ground balls. Kim also won 15 of 23 faceoff attempts for the Eagles.

Kian Gulbrandsen had 11 saves for Santa Margarita.

The Eagles will travel to play Palos Verdes on Saturday.
