This is the primary season for youth field lacrosse in Orange County – this is the main season for youth field lacrosse – don’t miss out!
Programs / Age Groups

Scotland refuses cultural exchange with Russia because of Ukraine – InoTV
Scottish ministers refused to take part in Russian events planned as part of the cross year of Russian culture in the UK, according to Herald Scotland. They explain their refusal by Russia’s actions in Ukraine and the “annexation” of Crimea. At the same time, it is expected that all cultural events will take place as planned, the newspaper notes.
Scottish ministers refused to support the events of the cross year of culture of Russia in the UK in connection with Russia’s actions in Ukraine, according to Herald Scotland.
“Russia’s invasion of Crimea, which caused internal political problems in Ukraine, caused international outrage,” writes the journalist. He notes that relations with Russia also escalated after the rebels were blamed for the crash of a Malaysian passenger plane, which killed 298 people. In this regard, world leaders are considering an appropriate response from Russia, including sanctions and freezing the accounts of wealthy Russians living abroad, the newspaper recalls.
The Scottish and British governments’ decision to distance themselves from the cross year of culture signifies their disagreement with recent developments in Ukraine. However, Scotland’s decision can also be seen as an attempt to make amends for First Minister Alex Salmond, who praised Vladimir Putin for having “restored much of Russia’s pride” with . Scottish Chairman of the Association of Ukrainians in the UK Mykhailo Ostapko urged Salmond to publicly apologize for his “tactless statement”, notes Herald Scotland.
A Scottish Government spokesperson stated: “The Scottish Government no longer supports the 2014 Cross Year of Russian and British Culture. Minister of Culture Hislop will not attend the planned Russian events to be held in Scotland. Cultural events in Scotland and Russia will proceed as planned. ”
“In light of Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea, Her Majesty’s Government has canceled the participation of ministers and officials in the Cross Year of Culture. We are reviewing cooperation with Russia for each event”, – quotes the words of the representative of the British Foreign Office edition.
2014 was declared the year of culture last year by former British Foreign Secretary William Hague and his colleague. The program includes 250 artistic, sporting and scientific events in both countries. The British Council was supposed to organize events in Russia.
The Russian consulate in Edinburgh has yet to comment on the allegation, concludes Herald Scotland.
Reader comments on Herald Scotland:
GrahamHanson: You can’t help but get Alex involved. Putin is really trying to restore Russian pride and influence. Maybe his views are controversial. But this is his job. Perhaps, in his opinion, it is better to sing “Kalinka” than to rejoice. At least in Moscow.
Andrew MacMillan: Salmond was wrong, he should have been more careful. This is expected from a “leader”. Putin has always been a danger to our and other countries, and as a former KGB officer, he may have caused great harm in one way or another.
JamesMcgowan: Do I really live in a world where a plane is shot down in Ukraine and the rebel army did it for show? I doubt they thought about the consequences at all.
