- Adam Mueller: An 11-year pro in the National Lacrosse League and former head coach for the Philadelphia Wings, Minnesota Swarm, and New York Titans.
- Chris Collins: An All-American goaltender from Delaware with 15 years of professional indoor and outdoor experience, currently assisting the Redwoods LC.
Comprehensive Services Tailored for Modern Lacrosse Athletes
Performance Academy offers a wide array of services designed to address the multifaceted needs of today’s lacrosse players. These include:
- Skill development for teams, individuals, and programs in offense, defense, and goaltending
- Health, fitness, and agility training
- College recruiting consulting
- SAT preparation
Can lacrosse players benefit from specialized training in different aspects of the game. Absolutely. Performance Academy’s approach recognizes that success in lacrosse requires more than just on-field skills. By offering a holistic training program, they ensure that athletes are prepared for all aspects of their lacrosse journey.
Bridging the Gap: Supporting Lacrosse Programs of All Levels
One of Performance Academy’s key strengths lies in its ability to cater to programs of varying abilities. Whether it’s a team looking for a fresh start or a top-ranked high school squad seeking new ideas, the academy’s trainers are equipped to provide valuable insights and guidance.
Is Performance Academy limited to working with elite players only. Not at all. The trainers are passionate about coaching and consulting with players and teams across the spectrum, from beginners to seasoned professionals. This inclusive approach ensures that lacrosse enthusiasts of all levels can benefit from the academy’s expertise.
Empowering Coaches: The Ripple Effect of Performance Academy’s Training
Performance Academy’s impact extends beyond individual players, with a focus on training coaches as well. This approach creates a multiplier effect, allowing the academy’s teachings to reach a broader audience and benefit entire programs.
How does training coaches benefit lacrosse programs. By equipping coaches with new skills and techniques, Performance Academy enables them to continue implementing advanced training methods throughout the year. This ongoing development ensures that players receive consistent, high-quality instruction even outside of the academy’s sessions.
The Box Lacrosse Advantage
Adam Mueller, with his extensive experience in box lacrosse, brings a unique perspective to Performance Academy. He emphasizes the benefits of incorporating box lacrosse training into players’ routines:
- Improved hand skills
- More efficient shooting and ball handling
- Quicker reactions on both offense and defense
Does box lacrosse training translate to success in field lacrosse. Indeed, it does. The skills developed in box lacrosse can significantly enhance a player’s performance on the field, particularly when transitioning to higher levels of play.
Flexible Training Options: Tailoring Programs to Individual Needs
Performance Academy offers a range of training schedules to accommodate various needs and preferences. Athletes and teams can choose from:
- Weekly sessions
- Monthly training programs
- Seasonal training packages
- Pre-event or pre-season tune-ups
This flexibility allows players and organizations to integrate Performance Academy’s training into their existing schedules and programs seamlessly.
Beyond the Field: Navigating College Recruiting and Academics
Performance Academy’s services extend beyond on-field training, addressing the crucial aspects of college recruiting and academic preparation. The academy’s staff leverages their extensive knowledge of what college coaches look for in players, guiding athletes through the often complex recruiting process.
How has the college recruiting landscape changed in recent years. With the impact of COVID-19 and the growing influence of the transfer portal, the recruitment process has become more nuanced. Performance Academy’s consultants stay abreast of these changes, providing up-to-date advice to aspiring college athletes.
SAT Preparation: A Holistic Approach to Athlete Development
Recognizing the importance of academic success in college recruitment, Performance Academy also offers SAT preparation services. This holistic approach ensures that athletes are well-rounded candidates, possessing both the athletic skills and academic qualifications necessary for college success.
Specialized Goalie Training: Insights from a Pro
Chris Collins, with his extensive experience as an All-American goaltender, brings specialized expertise to Performance Academy’s goalie training programs. His approach to coaching goalies is unique and effective, catering to both boys and girls in this crucial position.
Why is specialized goalie training important in lacrosse. Goaltending requires a specific skill set that differs significantly from field players. Collins’s targeted training ensures that goalies receive the focused attention they need to excel in their role.
The Power of a Fresh Perspective
One of the key benefits of Performance Academy’s training is the fresh perspective it offers to players. Even when the academy’s coaches reinforce concepts that team coaches have been emphasizing, hearing it from a new voice can often lead to breakthroughs for players.
Collins notes, “When I work with clubs or teams, some coaches just step aside, which is fine. Coaches say, ‘It’s nice my kids hear it from somebody else. It’s the same I think I have been telling them.’ Then the lightbulb goes on, and the player will say, ‘My coach has been saying that the whole time!'”
Customized Training: Aligning with Team Strategies
Performance Academy’s approach to team training is highly collaborative. Rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all methodology, the trainers work closely with team coaches to understand their specific needs and strategies.
MacFarlane explains, “When programs, teams, or organizations hire us, we just want to support them and ask questions like… ‘What do you know, need us to work on, what offense or defense sets do you run, etc. It’s our job to facilitate training and work hand in hand with our clients.”
This tailored approach ensures that Performance Academy’s training complements and enhances existing team systems, rather than conflicting with them.
Year-Round Support for Continuous Improvement
Performance Academy’s services are available year-round, allowing for continuous player and team development. Whether it’s off-season skill building, in-season performance enhancement, or pre-season preparation, the academy’s trainers are ready to support lacrosse players and programs at every stage of their journey.
How does year-round training benefit lacrosse players. Consistent, targeted training throughout the year helps players maintain their skills, steadily improve their weaknesses, and stay in top form for when the competitive season arrives.

Performance Academy also recognizes the role of technology in modern sports training. While maintaining a focus on fundamental skills and techniques, the academy incorporates cutting-edge technology where appropriate to enhance player development.
What types of technology does Performance Academy use in training. This may include video analysis tools for reviewing player technique, performance tracking software to monitor progress, and specialized equipment for targeted skill development. The integration of technology allows for more precise feedback and personalized training programs.

Performance Academy provides elite training for boys, girls, teams, clubs and organizations for all levels
By Chris Goldberg
Phillylacrosse.com, Posted 4/11/22
The Performance Academy has announced its launch as a unique lacrosse training and consulting platform for boys, girls, clubs, individuals, townships, organizations and teams for all levels and ages of play.
The business features three trainers/consultants Todd MacFarlane, Adam Mueller and Chris Collins – each has coached, trained and worked with some of the top players in the world.
Performance Academy offers services to address (1) skill development for teams, individuals, and programs in the areas of offense, defense, and goaltending, (2) health, fitness, agility training, (3) college recruiting consulting and (4) SAT prep.
MacFarlane said Performance Academy is unique as the business is neutral in the sense that it caters to all boys, girls, township, club, middle & high school teams. We are not a club team; we are an extended training/consulting arm to all in the Philadelphia region.”
“With more kids playing lacrosse, Performance Academy understands that it’s tough for programs, teams, parents, and coaches to support all the needs of today’s student athlete,” said Macfarlane. “Maybe they just don’t have the time or resources to accommodate, so we are here to support them.”
Macfarlane is an assistant with the Redwoods LC of the Premier Lacrosse League and has previously been on staff with Penn, Maryland and Malvern Prep. Mueller was an 11-year pro in the National Lacrosse League and was head coach for the Philadelphia Wings, Minnesota Swarm and New York Titans. He is the only head coach in NLL History to lead three teams to the playoffs. Collins was an All-American goaltender at Delaware and played 15 years of pro indoor and outdoor; he is also an assistant for the Redwoods LC.
Even though each of the Performance Academy staff members have quite the lacrosse resume they are excited work with all levels. From beginners to elite players, township teams or clubs, the No. 1 HS team in the area or not, they are just excited to coach, train, or consult.
“We’re open to working with programs of all levels of ability,” MacFarlane said. “We can work with a program that needs a fresh start or one that just needs new ideas or needs to hear the same ideas from a different set of coaches.”

Mueller said Performance Academy also has had success training coaches, which strengthens the program in many other ways.
“We may not be able to cover everything in three sessions, but by working with the program’s coaches and training them, the coaches will be able to get the kids through the skills themselves the rest of the year,” Mueller said.
Mueller is considered one of the most experienced and elite American box lacrosse coaches. He also has trained many of the top field players from programs like Malvern Prep and the Haverford School. Mueller, MacFarlane, and Collins also coach box with Philly’s elite program, Penn Lax All-Stars.
“We love bringing Americans into the box game,” Mueller said. Box lacrosse when properly played and taught softens up your hands, makes you a more efficient shooter and ball handler, and forces you to react quicker on the offensive and defensive end. For most players moving onto the next level, it’s a difficult transition, we can help with that.”
“We have worked with individuals, small groups, teams, and organizations year-round. Some on a weekly, monthly, or seasonal bases and some as a tune up prior to an event or season on the skill development & fitness side of the house.” Teams and organizations also use Performance Academy for preseason, in season and offseason coaches training or as a recruiting consulting service as we understand what college coaches are looking for in a player and are versed in what the process is, especially during the time of COVID and a growing transfer portal.
Macfarlane said, “Chris works with the goalies and on defense; Muells focuses on the offensive side of the house and I support/coach O & D, fitness training, and run operations and recruiting.”
“When programs, teams or organizations hire us, we just want to support them and ask questions like… ‘What do you know, need us to work on, what offense or defense sets do you run, etc. It’s our job to facilitate training and work hand in hand with our clients.”
Collins embraces coaching goalies. Girls or Boys it doesn’t matter. “When I work with clubs or teams some coaches just step aside which is fine, said Collins. When this happens, coaches say ‘It’s nice my kids hear it from somebody else. It’s the same I think I have been telling them.’
“Then the lightbulb goes on and the player will say, ‘My coach has been saying that the whole time.’ Girls’ goalies are no different than boys and I worked with about 10 high school girls this past year and I’m looking forward to seeing them play this spring. ”
Performance Academy has partnered and affiliated itself with some of the elite in the business to help it provide professional training and consulting.
“Can’t thank Good Clean Fun Life Productions, Franklin Yard, Elevate, Pro Athletics, Stylin Strings, and SummerSkates enough for their support! We just want to give back to the community and pass on lacrosse knowledge and couldn’t do it without them,” said MacFarlane.

LACROSSE — ETS Performance
SPORT SPECIFIC TRAINING
Proven & customizable strength, speed, energy system development and injury prevention training for any lacrosse player that is looking to significantly improve their performance.
check out WHAT OUR LACROSSE ATHLETES & COACHES ARE SAYING ABOUT ETS:
I first saw the results ETS puts out when my brother first started going there and after watching him do it I couldn’t wait to get started. When I first started I wanted to get bigger, faster, and stronger-and that’s exactly what they did for me. They designed a plan to help me with lacrosse and it helped me excel a lot. I’ve never been the fastest or strongest and after a few months working with ETS I was holding my own physically and starting to run by guys. Without them I wouldn’t be where I am today.
— Luke Williams, High School Lacrosse Player
When I first came to ETS, my goal was to become a stronger faster and an overall better athlete. ETS has helped push me to achieve my goals and even more. Between the positive environment and serious results, there truly is no other place like ETS. I cannot thank this place and its staff enough for all it has done for me and my game!
— Olivia Boyer, High School Lacrosse Player
Training at ETS has been the best experience for me. They create such a welcoming environment with their great staff and I look forward to going in everyday. They really care for me and make sure I am executing the exorcises correctly so I don’t hurt myself. Everyone in the gym has a workout specifically designed to them with their body and their sport, no ones workout is the same. They really take the time to make each and every athlete feel special.
I’ve been training at ETS for two years and it has changed my life dramatically for the better! Gaining more strength, speed and endurance then I ever thought I would. It challenges me to become the athlete I know I can be.
ETS has given me the confidence and power to be a threat on the lacrosse field and dominate my opponents and overall confidence in my day to day life. With out ETS I wouldn’t be where I am today. The ETS family has helped me pursue my dream of playing division 1 lacrosse at the collegiate level.
— Chloe Fisher, Louisville Girls Lacrosse
Ryan, Sylvia and Spencer, you guys are incredible! The improvements that our athletes have made since you began working with the team have truly been impressive. The players’ individual results were immediate and the continued progress of the athletes involved in your programs over time has really changed the way we look at performance training and team athletic development as a whole.
I strongly recommend that anyone interested in developing stronger, faster athletes at any age take a serious listen to everything the staff ETS has to say. They will not be disappointed in the results.
— Rich Limpert, University of Minnesota Coach
I began training with ETS my junior year of high school. When I walked in their doors I was a weak, constantly injured, and muscularly imbalanced athlete. Shortly after starting with them I began to build explosiveness, strength, and mobility, all of which allowed me to perform at a higher level on the field. Ultimately, I was fortunate enough to earn a scholarship and play lacrosse for Syracuse University, as well as move on to play the sport at the professional level. Looking back I can honestly say that none of that would have been possible without ETS. The attention to detail and the sport specific training is second to none, and the hard working, team oriented culture they have created unites all of their athletes toward a common goal. So if you are a lacrosse athlete or any athlete for that matter looking to improve and tap into your full potential, ETS is where you should be. My only regret is that I didn’t start training with them sooner. So go get an evaluation and join the team!
— Ben Williams, St. Thomas Academy Coach
