John Tavares, but not that one, but his uncle – NLL Review (all about Lacrosse) – Blogs
NLL Review (all about Lacrosse)
Blog
it can be found here).
Meet John Tavares, not the Toronto Maple Leafs star forward, but his uncle, the former Canadian professional box lacrosse player who is the Wayne Gretzky of the National Lacrosse League world. He is the NLL’s all-time leading scorer. But lacrosse doesn’t make much money, so Tavares is part-time math teacher at Philip Pocock Catholic High School in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
John Tavares (NHL) and John Tavares (NLL)
Uncle John: “Before the draft, I asked him* (*John’s nephew) to put in a good word for me to the team that would end up picking him and I would be invited for viewing. I’m still waiting” (laughs)
Tavares spent his entire NLL career with the Buffalo Bandits. In October 1991, he was traded to the Detroit Turbos for Brian Nikula. From the very first season of 1991-1992, John set to work. The culmination of a spectacular season for the Bandits was a goal in overtime of the NLL Cup final and recognition as the MVP of the finals.
Uncle John: “It was 19’92, Buffalo vs. Philadelphia at the Spectrum, great game, sudden death in overtime, sold out. The atmosphere was unreal. It was a broken play. The Philadelphia goaltenders were Dallas Eliuk and Dwight Match, who I played with in Vancouver. Dwight was a great goalkeeper, I had a lot of respect for him, but I never told him that he was a great goalkeeper, although he was really good. In practice, he never let me hit him. I hated it. So Dwight got into the game and it stuck in my head. I was afraid to quit. And then in overtime the ball hits me, and I decide that I will hit the left (over the shoulder), although I rarely do this. I see that the top corner is open and I try. The ball fell right in front of the goalkeeper, slipped between Dwight’s legs and flew into the net. Not the best shot. But he won the NLL championship” (laughs)
John Tavares “Buffalo Bandits” as a player
The following year, 1993, thanks to an inspired performance by Tavares, the Bandits will defend their title. And again, like a year ago, the Finals MVP recognizes John.
In total, in his entire career, John Tavares will win 4 championship titles. He won the NLL Season MVP Award three times in 1994, 2000 and 2001. Set the NLL record for goals scored (815), as well as the NLL record for points scored (1749). For a long time he held the record for assists (934) and for matches played (306), but this season (2021-2022) he was surpassed by Dan Dawson.
In 2016, John Tavares was inducted into the NLL Hall of Fame. On May 12, 2022, John Tavares was inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame. The Buffalo Bandits, in honor of their great player, will secure and retire the number 11 jersey.
John Tavares of the Buffalo Bandits as coach
John Tavares is currently the head coach of the Buffalo Bandits. This season (2021-2022) he led the guys from the banditland to the NLL Cup final, where they lost to Colorado. At the same time, the Tavares team showed the brightest game throughout the season, scored the most goals and set the NLL record for victories in a season.

Sports billionaire ranking: Rennes has the richest football owner, lots of Americans
Editor’s note: hello! This is a blog post él Supo .
There are only 60 billionaire owners in the major sports leagues and 80 teams in their assets
Over the past 12 months, their combined fortunes have decreased by $ 15 billion (or only 4%). However, it is about $86 billion.
Dozens of other billionaires own minority (non-controlling) stakes in teams or control clubs in the minor leagues and collectively own capital 379billion dollars.
This article contains a list of the 20 richest sports team owners in the world (according to Forbes).
1. Steve Ballmer – Los Angeles Clippers
- Wealth source: Microsoft
- Wealth: $52.7 billion (+28% YoY change)
Steve is the 11th richest person on the planet according to Forbes.
Last night Steve was supposed to sit in his usual seat on the floor and watch the Los Angeles Clippers take on the Chicago Bulls at the Staples Center. Few fans, much less team owners, can match the exuberance of the former Microsoft CEO.
Ballmer turned the Clippers from an underdog into a model NBA franchise. In 2014, he paid a then-record $2 billion for the team. With a big budget, the club found a new life: high-profile signings of players began, every year the team began to claim victory, and the club itself began to earn record sums for the franchise.
Sports arenas and stadiums are closed almost all over the globe due to the pandemic. It could be months before the Clippers win the next game. But off the court, Ballmer continues to rack up wins.
Many global stock indexes have fallen at least 20% in the last 12 months, but Microsoft shares are up 30%, even with the stock down 18% in the last two months. Microsoft’s earnings added $11.5 billion to Ballmer’s net worth and propelled him to the top spot on this list.

The Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in the IPL (Indian Premier Cricket League).

In 2017, the Indians became the first IPL franchise to cross the $100 million mark. The cost of Mumbai Indians in 2019 was estimated at about $115 million.
Ambani’s wealth plummeted by $13 billion to $36.8 billion as shares in his oil and gas giant Reliance Industries plunged on energy demand issues.

Tepper discussed with the city authorities the possibility of building a stadium for the Panthers and a new football club that would have a retractable roof. At the end of November 2019, Charlotte City Council approved $110 million in funding for the stadium, which will use hotel tax revenues.
In November 2019, MLS commissioner Don Garber named Charlotte as the most likely contender for the league’s 30th franchise spot, praising Tepper’s efforts and draft bid.
On December 17, 2019, MLS officially announced that the city of Charlotte had been awarded the league’s 30th franchise, which will begin playing in 2021.
Tepper paid $325 million to expand MLS, setting a league record.
