How does Long Island Express Lacrosse develop Division I talent. What makes their program stand out for college recruiting. Why have they produced so many Under Armour All-Americans.
The Long Island Express Lacrosse Legacy of Excellence
Long Island Express Lacrosse has established itself as a powerhouse program for developing elite lacrosse talent. With an impressive track record of sending players to top college programs, Express has become synonymous with lacrosse excellence in the Long Island area and beyond.
Their achievements speak for themselves:
- Over 200 players who have gone on to compete at the NCAA Division I level
- More than 300 alumni playing collegiate lacrosse across all divisions
- 15+ Under Armour All-Americans
- 23+ Under Armour Underclass All-Americans
These numbers highlight the program’s ability to consistently produce high-caliber players who excel at the next level. But what exactly sets Long Island Express apart in the competitive world of youth lacrosse?
Developing Well-Rounded Players: The Express Philosophy
At the core of Long Island Express’s success is their commitment to developing complete players. While many club programs focus solely on stick skills or athleticism, Express takes a holistic approach to player development.
This philosophy is evident in players like Will Lynch, a standout from the class of 2021. Lynch exemplifies the Express ideal of a versatile midfielder, excelling not only as an elite faceoff specialist but also as a dynamic offensive threat and defensive contributor.
The program emphasizes:
- Fundamental skill development across all aspects of the game
- High lacrosse IQ and decision-making abilities
- Physical conditioning and athleticism
- Mental toughness and competitive drive
By focusing on these core areas, Express ensures their players are prepared for the demands of high-level collegiate lacrosse.
The Express Recruiting Pipeline: Connecting Players with Top Programs
One of the most significant advantages of playing for Long Island Express is the program’s extensive network of college connections. With a reputation for producing college-ready talent, Express has built strong relationships with coaching staffs across the country.
This recruiting pipeline benefits players in several ways:
- Increased visibility at showcase events and tournaments
- Direct communication channels with college coaches

The results of this approach are evident in the program’s placement statistics. Express consistently sends players to top-tier lacrosse programs in the Ivy League, ACC, Big Ten, and other competitive conferences.
Notable College Commitments
Recent Long Island Express alumni have committed to prestigious programs such as:
- Yale University
- University of Virginia

These commitments demonstrate the caliber of player that Express develops and the trust that college coaches place in the program’s ability to prepare athletes for the next level.
Under Armour All-American Success: A Testament to Elite Training

With over 15 Under Armour All-Americans and 23 Underclass All-Americans, Express has firmly established itself as a breeding ground for the nation’s top lacrosse prospects. But what factors contribute to this impressive track record?
- Elite-level coaching from experienced staff
- Exposure to high-level competition

The program’s ability to consistently produce All-Americans speaks volumes about the quality of training and development players receive at Long Island Express.

These technological innovations allow for more precise skill development and give players the data-driven insights needed to elevate their game.
In conclusion, Long Island Express Lacrosse has established itself as a premier program for developing elite lacrosse talent. Through a combination of comprehensive training, strong college connections, character development, and innovative techniques, Express continues to produce players who excel at the highest levels of the sport. As the program looks to the future, it remains committed to its core mission of helping young athletes achieve their full potential both on and off the field.

Leading Edge / Long Island Express / Team 91 Play Day Standouts – National Lacrosse Federation
Follow the NLF on Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Facebook.
Will Lynch has always been a complete midfielder who also happens to be one of the class of 2021’s elite faceoff men, but that didn’t prevent him from being a little bit disappointed when he heard of the NCAA’s plan to move faceoffs to standing neutral grip.
Despite the fact that the Long Island Express 2021 and Chaminade standout is probably the most athletic and well-rounded faceoff man in the class, he was reluctant to embrace the move.
“I was a little bummed at first because I’d been doing knee-down and mastering it for five years, so I was still practicing knee-down a lot, but I really locked down on it when the rule went through last week,” said Lynch, a Notre Dame commit ranked NLF No. 21 class of 2021 prospect. “Knee-down is definitely different because when you get the initial clamp, you have a better first step on the guy. With standing up, it’s a lot tougher to go forward because the guy just has to take a step to the right to slow you down, so I’m learning to box them out with my butt and back and flipping the ball back door to myself. ”
If anything, Lynch’s stock figures to only go up with the new rules. For a guy who’s relatively new to the SNG game, he was flat-out dominant in wins over fellow NLF founding members Leading Edge and Team 91 Blaze. He still has exceptional hand speed, and he’s got the wheels, toughness and tenacity to chase down ground balls in traffic. Lynch and fellow Express product James Ball (Yale / NLF No. 6 ’20), along with Team 91 Blaze’s Machado Rodriguez (Yale / NLF No. 43 ’21) would have comprised a lethal trio at the X for Chaminade this spring, with Ball and Lynch figuring to also earn significant minutes at offensive midfield. Going up against that kind of talent every day has its significant advantages, which Lynch credits in helping his development into an elite prospect.
“I couldn’t ask for anything better,” Lynch said. “Guys in different parts of the country only go against the top kids if it’s the summer, but going up against those guys all year long contributes to my success. I’m really close with James and train with him a lot, and practicing against Machado, who’s one of the top kids in the country for my class, along with good trainers, helps so much.”
Lynch was an early verbal to the Irish and remains steadfast in his commitment despite renewed overtures from other top schools, and it wasn’t hard to see why Notre Dame made him a priority as it dipped back to its Chaminade pipeline. He was dominant against all comers at the play day, winning his first eight faceoffs of the day to set the tone for a highly-productive day. He had a particularly impressive goal to fend off a 91 rally when he popped it forward to himself, outran everyone and snapped a low-to-high laser. It sure seems like Lynch could make a major impact in South Bend even if he doesn’t take a faceoff,
“When I first started playing lacrosse, I was strictly a midfielder, so I feel like I’m built to be able to handle the ball because I learned midfield faceoff fundamentals first,” Lynch said. “When I transitioned to faceoff, all of those skills came with me, and I think it really benefits me and helps me separate myself. A lot of guys don’t have the ability to be a scoring threat and defenses don’t respect them, but I feel like I’m a threat.”
Whether it’s out of the knee-down or SNG.
2021 Standouts
Chris Barry, midfield, East Meadow (N.Y.) / Team 91 Blaze
Barry has always been somewhat unheralded on a Blaze team with some big-name commits. He’s changing that unheralded part this summer, though, as he put together a strong all-around day. He’s an eraser defensively, capable of shutting down elite midfielders, and he continues to be a great between-the-lines middie as well as an asset on the faceoff wings. He looks significantly more comfortable offensively and showed that he could find the back of the net.
Griffin Kology, defense, Chatham (N.J.) / Leading Edge / Richmond
It’s hard not to like what Kology brings to the table, even though all of those things don’t necessarily show up on first viewing. He’s just so quietly effective and does a tremendous job of simply staying between his man and the net, smoothly covers a ton of ground and is the type of defenseman that can blanket a top scorer without much fanfare or highlight-reel checks. Kology has continually improved over the past year and projects to be even better in college as he adds size. He showed a good handle off the turf, too.
Matt Keegan, attack, Sachem North (N.Y.) / Team 91 Blaze
The lefty has been consistently producing at a high level this summer, and that continued against Express and Leading Edge. He’s always had good shooting ability, but he’s turned it up a notch this summer, something that’s coincided with a noticeable growth spurt. He changes planes well and loves to park shots right under the bar and can also finish in a variety of ways. It wouldn’t be surprising to see a Division I program make him a late addition to its ’21 class.
Robert Moore, midfield, Westhampton Beach (N. Y.) / Long Island Express
Moore was a major problem for defenses as a downhill alley dodger who favored overhand bouncers through the five-hole throughout the day. Even when his man knew where Moore wanted to go, the uncommitted middie was able to get there anyway, using shiftiness and quickness to get himself free. He did a good job of understanding his range and pulling up before taking a bad shot, and on a couple of occasions, made some nice passes to open guys in the the heart of the defense.
Tyler Schwarz, LSM, Shoreham-Wading River (N.Y.) / Team 91 Blaze / North Carolina (Highlights) NLF No. 10 ’21
Schwarz and his brother and fellow Carolina commit, Johnny, both had good days for the Blaze, and it was the lefty pole that gave offenses fits whenever they tried to go at him. Schwarz had a particularly impressive sequence where he baited an Express player into a pass on a 6v4, only to knock it down, scoop it up and outrun the two top guys on the Express EMO down the field. He has elite offensive skills and definitely warrants a slide in transition, but it seems like he’s gotten even better in coverage, and trying to run around a 6-2, 180-pounder with his stick skills is an unenvious situation.
Jack Turner, attack, Ridge (N.J.) / Leading Edge (Highlights)
Turner played his best lacrosse of the summer with a big day for Jersey’s finest. He’s at his best when he’s got time and room to unleash a hard, heavy shot and he found the back of the net on a couple of occasions, but he also did a good job of working to find open space to get involved in the offense. Shooting wise, Turner can absolutely stretch out a defense with his range, and he showed again that he’s particularly dangerous if he gets involved early.
Colby Plotts, LSM, Sparta (N. J.) / Leading Edge / Utah
Plotts has been terrific all summer long for Leading Edge, and a big part of that has been his ability to harness his aggressiveness and desire to make a play every single time he’s near the ball. He’s become significantly more judicious with his decisions while still showing the game-altering playmaking ability that endeared him to the Utes. There was one sequence in particular where the tall, athletic Plotts outran everyone down the field – not necessarily a surprise – and could have pressed for a low-quality shot. Instead, he jammed on the brakes and dumped the ball off to an attackman, a decision that might not necessarily have happened last summer.
Alex Zepf, goalie, Chaminade (N.Y.) / Long Island Express / Notre Dame (Highlights)
Zepf was unranked in the inaugural NLF ’21 top 50. There’s little chance of that happening again, because he’s been a consistently outstanding force in the Express cage since last fall. The lefty has vaulted his way onto the short list of top ’21 goalies with his ballstopping ability, poise in the cage and command of the defense. He’s not the guy who’s usually going to try 40-yard outlet passes, but he makes smart, quick decisions with the ball in his stick. No matter how good the situation looks against Zepf, don’t assume that you’ve got a goal, because he’s got gamebreaking ability with how he comes up with tough stops.
Honorable Mention
Will Ferraro, midfield, Seton Hall Prep (N.J.) / Leading Edge / Providence
PJ McGoldrick, defense, West Islip (N.Y.) / Long Island Express / Fairfield NLF No. 47 ’21
Jimmy O’Connell, attack, Carey (N.Y.) / Long Island Express / Boston U (Highlights)
Kyle O’Donoghue, midfield, St. John The Baptist (N.Y.) / Team 91 Blaze / Navy (Highlights)
Logan Peters, attack/midfield, Wall (N.J.) / Leading Edge / Rutgers

Charles Balsamo, attack/midfield, Chaminade (N.Y.) / Long Island Express Channy (Highlights) NLF No. 4 ’22
Balsamo got mixed reviews at a showcase earlier this summer, but there’s plenty of credence to the idea that he’s just not a showcase guy. When he’s running the show for the Express with guys he’s familiar with, there really aren’t many better offensive players in the class. Balsamo is tough as nails, plays with the aggressiveness and tenacity that everyone loves, and he can fill up the stat sheet in a hurry. He popped off for three goals and two assists against Team 91 and added four more points vs. Leading Edge, a product of his lightning-quick release, accurate shot and ability to feed at both lefty attack and from up top as a midfielder. It’s hard to think of a more versatile offensive player in the class, and his ability to elevate the play of those around him will make him a wanted man come Sept. 1.
Brock Behrman, attack, Niskayuna (N.Y.) / Team 91 Smash (Highlights) NLF No. 46 ’22
Behrman had two points and five ground balls against Leading Edge, but he really popped off in the Express game, torching them for five goals and two assists. He works well with Joey Spallina, and the two of them connected on a couple of nifty goals off of each other. Behrman has elite change-of-direction and quickness, and he’s recently added some size, which makes him a tougher cover. He showed great vision on a superb skip pass to Jameson Smith (Bayport-Blue Point, N.Y.) for a stepdown goal, and he added a sweet dive goal out of the corner to help cement the Smash win.
Christian Bockelmann, attack, Rumson-Fair Haven (N.J.) / Leading Edge (Highlights)
Bockelmann was productive all day for Leading Edge, including a two goal, two-assist performance against Smash. He came out of the corner and rifled a high-to-high missile and buried a great Hunter Sancetta (Seton Hall Prep, N. J.) skip feed, set up Tyler Marmo (Avon Old Farms, Conn.) for a 1v1 transition goal and later added a gem of a pass to Willem Albert (Episcopal, Va.) across the crease for a tap-in that tied the game late in the fourth. Bockelmann can make plays with either hand and has good vision and the ability to finish from inside of 10 yards.
Matt Caputo, attack, St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) / Long Island Express Channy
Caputo was omnipresent on the stat sheet for Express, collecting hat tricks in both games and adding an assist against Smash. The lefty has a knack for finding the soft spot in the defense and converted on a couple of opportunities inside, including one EMO goal on a nifty feed from Charles Balsamo before later adding a sweet hockey rebound goal in front. He’s aware of what his shooting range is and doesn’t really try to extend it too much, and he likes to get in the mix for a ground ball.
Ethan Costanzo, faceoff midfield, Taft (Conn. ) / Long Island Express Channy (Highlights)
Costanzo was dominant against Smash, pocketing 21 of 26 faceoffs, and while he didn’t have the same success against Leading Edge that he had the week before, he did manage to win a pair of fourth-quarter faceoffs to help Express break the tie. Costanzo’s hand speed and variety of exits gave his opponents problems, and while he never pressed too much on the fast break, he did a nice job of finding the point man on his wins.
David Link, attack, Delbarton (N.J.) / Leading Edge (Highlights)
Link is the type of attackman that will probably be criminally underrated for the duration of his career. He does all of the little things right, whether it’s being in the right spot to back shots up, grab ground balls or ride it back hard. He did manage a couple of goals, including a pinpoint low-and-away shot while running up the hash against Express, and he’s got both finishing ability and vision.
youtube.com/embed/Ey1Lx8Xuhm8?feature=oembed” frameborder=”0″ allow=”accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture” allowfullscreen=””/>
Bryce Pang, goalie, Deerfield (Mass.) / Team 91 Smash NLF No. 27 ’22
Pang and Kevin Barrett (St. Anthony’s, N.Y.) were an extremely effective tag team for Smash, with Barrett shutting the door twice in the final minute to seal a win over Leading Edge. Pang was great in the second half of the Express game, including a 1v1 save on the doorstep and a trio of saves against Express’ top weapons in Charles Balsamo and Dillon Magee. He’s got quick feet and tracks shots well, positions himself in a spot to cut down angles, and he sure doesn’t mind venturing out of the cage to chase balls down or start the clear.
Joey Spallina, attack, Mount Sinai (N. Y.) / Team 91 Smash (Highlights) NLF No. 1 ’22
The country’s top recruit backed up that lofty title yet again, this time by hitting Express for four goals and three assists and Leading Edge for five goals, including whatever *THAT* in the video above. Spallina’s stickwork is unmatched, and when you think you’ve got him figured out, he’s got a counter to your counter. He has the ability to beat you in so many different ways, whether it’s loading up on assists off of double teams or feasting on single coverage. Armed with an ultra competitive alpha mindset, Spallina knows that he’s the best player on the field in every game, but works like he’s the last man on the depth chart, and nobody rides as hard as he does.
Jaz Zanelli, goalie, Seton Hall Prep (N. J.) / Leading Edge (Highlights)
The model of calm and consistency this summer for Leading Edge, Zanelli has been excellent in every game this summer, making all of the saves he should and some that he shouldn’t. He’s a little bit more athletic than in the past and the hard work that he’s put in is evident. Zanelli puts his guys in the right spot and makes good outlet passes, and he made a combined 10 saves in his two halves, including an eye-popping pipe-to-pipe stop against the Express.
Honorable Mention
Ethan Ackerman, LSM, Seton Hall Prep (N.J.) / Leading Edge (Highlights)
Christian Alacqua, midfield, Chaminade (N.Y.) / Long Island Express Channy
Kevin Barrett, goalie, St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) / Team 91 Smash (Highlights)
James Carretta, midfield, Mount Sinai (N.Y.) / Team 91 Smash (Highlights)
Luke Engelke, faceoff midfield, Pingry (N.J.) / Leading Edge (Highlights) NLF No. 22 ’22
Gavin LoCascio, midfield, Bayport-Blue Point (N. Y.) / Team 91 Smash
Max McCarthy, defense, St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) / Long Island Express Channy
Konrad Miklaszewski, LSM, Montclair (N.J.) / Leading Edge (Highlights)
Ryan Monfort, defense, St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) / Long Island Express Channy
Dylan Sageder, LSM, Mount Sinai (N.Y.) / Team 91 Smash (Highlights) NLF No. 44 ’22

Long Island Express Sending Three Teams to US Lacrosse Youth Nationals
Long Island Express Sending Three Teams to US Lacrosse Youth Nationals
Wed Nov 4 2020 | Brian Logue | Fuel
Tyler Dunn, a current Premier Lacrosse League Player and USA U19 gold medal winner, helped the Long Island Express win a youth national championship in 2012. The club will send three teams to the 2021 US Lacrosse Youth Nationals.
Since its formation, the Long Island Express club program has literally won hundreds of tournament championships while helping to develop some of the top players in the sport. The club will look to add the next chapter of that legacy when it enters teams in all three age classifications (13U, 14U and 15U) for the boys’ portion of the 2021 US Lacrosse Youth Nationals next summer.
The LI Express is no stranger to the event, having participated multiple times in the past. Tyler Dunn, a U.S. U19 gold-medal winner in 2016 who went on to star at Penn and now plays in the Premier Lacrosse League, led the Express to the US Lacrosse U15 national title in 2012.
“We’re most successful when we play guys our own age and we rarely get to do that,” said Mike Chanenchuk, the Managing Director of all of the Express programs. “That’s the appeal to us, to play an aged-based tournament.”
Next summer’s event will be played at DE Turf in Frederica, Del., from July 13-15, featuring some of the top boys’ and girls’ clubs in the country playing at a world-class venue. The championship games for the boys’ and girls’ 14U and 15U age classifications will be carried live on Lax Sports Network. As a US Lacrosse sanctioned event, all participants will be age-verified and will play on teams grouped by ages.
“Both of my sons played soccer and [the tournaments] were all age-based,” Chanenchuk said. “Before the game the ref checked every single card and it didn’t take that long. We don’t have those checks and balances in lacrosse. We need more tournaments to come out this way. We’re better off for it. It’s safer, it’s more fair, it’s a level playing field.”
Despite often playing against older competition, the Long Island Express has developed into a premier club by following some simple philosophies.
“Teach them how to move the ball and teach them how to get ground balls,” Chanenchuk said. “One more pass, that’s our mantra. If you make a mistake, you slide too fast, we’re going to find that guy. You teach them how to think ‘If I get the ball, who is going to be open’ – not after they get the ball. That’s how we practice.”
Chanenchuk has been around the sport for decades and achieved tremendous levels of success. He was an All-American player at Navy and continues to coach at St. Anthony’s High School in addition to his role with the Express. His sons, Matt and Mike, were both All-Americans at the collegiate level. Matt now coaches with the Express and Adelphi and Mike, a two-time Premier Lacrosse League champion with Whipsnakes LC, is an assistant coach at Stony Brook.
With his sons now long past their youth days, Chanenchuk continues to stay involved for a simple reason because of his passion to see the next generation develop.
“One player on my 2026 team, prior to COVID was pretty good,” Chanenchuk said. “After COVID he scored eight goals in a single game. He just worked hard. He’s an example of someone that did extra training. This sport is not like other sports to me. If you practice, do wall ball, your success can really rise quickly. My whole motivation is seeing kids get better and go on to great colleges.”
Chanenchuk coached the 2022 Express team since its inception, which has now had and will continue to have major success with players committing at the collegiate level.
“We have 12 guys committed to the best schools in country,” Chanenchuck said. “Eight are going to Ivy League schools, another to Duke and another to Virginia. This sport opens up doors that other sports don’t open.”
Chanenchuck strongly believes that these opportunities can positively impact players’ lives.
He also works with some of the younger teams that will be participating at the US Lacrosse Youth Nationals and is looking forward to the experience.

LI Express team wins 13-under national lacrosse title
The home of the Denver Broncos was without a doubt the largest, noisiest stadium the Long Island Express lacrosse team had played in. It was also without question the highest stakes game — and the highest altitude — they’d ever played in.
Led by Alec Gregorek’s six goals, the Express’ Class of 2022 team topped Primetime, of Westchester, 12-4 in the World Series of Youth Lacrosse 13-under championship on July 4 at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
The Express, a 22-player club team coached by St. Anthony’s High School junior varsity coach Mike Chanenchuk, went 7-1 in the three-day tournament and outscored opponents 106-23.
Gregorek, a 12-year-old from Shoreham-Wading River who had 25 goals and six assists in the tournament, was named to the All-World team along with teammates Joe Terenzi (Manhasset), Charles Balsamo (Manhasset), Jack Cascadden (Garden City) and Max McCarthy (Huntington).
“It was priceless,” said Chanenchuk, who goes by the nickname “Channy.” “When you’re coaching on this field at Mile High Stadium, with all the music and all the sound, these kids couldn’t really hear me. They’re playing on their whole intuitiveness and what they’re trained to play on.”
Terenzi, 13, had 15 goals and 11 assists in the tournament and said that hearing Chanenchuk on the sideline was nearly impossible. That didn’t add to the nerves, though, as he said that much of the anticipation went away once they took the field.
“Walking on the field and seeing a huge stadium is a little nerve-wracking,” Terenzi said. “Once we got out there and settled in, everything about it was just amazing.”

Nerves were expected given the circumstances. With media and photographers on the sidelines and ESPN2 televising the event nationally, this was easily the most pressure the team has ever faced.
The players were treated like professionals despite not yet reaching the high school level, something not lost on the players.
“It didn’t seem real,” said 12-year-old Christian Alacqua, of Manhasset. “They made us feel like professional players.”
“The professional teams played right after us,” said Balsamo, who chipped in 13 goals and 17 assists. “It was almost like we were one step under them.”
The Express certainly have players with outstanding potential. Cascadden, a faceoff specialist, won 90 percent of faceoffs in the final and more than 80 percent in the tournament. McCarthy’s lockdown defense shut out Primetime’s leading scorer. Goalies Will Snyder (Bay Shore) and Aiden Greene (Far Rockaway) were stalwarts between the pipes.
“We’ve been together for three years, and these guys either win or come in second in every tournament they play in,” Chanenchuk said. “We thought we would have a really good shot of competing in this tournament.”
Chanenchuk envisions more success in this group’s future. With practices twice weekly and significant training in the fall and winter months, the team is primed to compete come spring and summer.
Several players said that this championship will be hard to top, even with so many more games ahead of them in their budding careers in the sport.
“That was the best experience of my life,” Terenzi said.
“Right now, we’re the best team in the country, in the world,” Balsamo said. “But there’s always room for improvement.”

Ross School: Children’s Day Program
Summer Camp at the Ross School is a program full of new activities and entertainment for children from 3 to 14 years old.The duration of the program varies from one to eight weeks (1-6 weeks for children 3-6 years old, 1-8 weeks for children 6-14 years old).
There are two program options: half day (9:00 am to 12:00 pm, no lunch) on weekdays and weekend program (9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturdays and / or Sundays). On weekends, children from the age of four can stay. The half-day summer camp is for children 3-6 years old. For children 6-14 years old, programs are organized on weekdays from 9:00 to 12:00 or for a full day with lunch from 9:00 to 15:00.
The smallest vacationers (3-6 years old) are engaged in creativity and music: they dance and sing, get acquainted with science and cooking, listen to interesting fairy tales and stories, learn the basics of counting in a fun and exciting way. Experienced educators plan activities so that children can develop imagination, curiosity, and intelligence. Children are engaged in classrooms and outdoors, getting to know nature – all in a safe and friendly environment.
In addition, children learn to play tennis, football, basketball, baseball and golf, which helps them not only develop playing skills, but instill a love of healthy lifestyles and keeping fit throughout their lives.Children are engaged in several sports at once. This contributes to the development of reaction and motor functions. All games, instructions and training are specially adapted for the little ones.
Children 6-14 years old choose one morning session and one afternoon session (if they are at camp all day). More than 30 classes are offered, each of which is taught by a professional teacher or trainer. The minimum duration of one course is 1-2 weeks. If a child attends camp for more than one week, he can choose a new activity every week.
Each day at Ross School begins with a morning briefing on the selected course. On Fridays, there are fun parades where children, staff and teachers dress in colorful costumes. The themes of past parades are Hawaiian Shirts Day, mythical heroes, cartoon characters. On Friday nights, children will find concerts, talent shows, meetings with invited guests and much more.
Day Camp does not include on-campus accommodation.

Roller Derby Gotham Girls (GGRD) is a flat track roller derby league based in New York, New York.Founded in late 2003, [1] [2] Gotham is the first flat track roller derby league in the NYC metropolitan area and a founding member of the sport’s governing body, the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) … [3] GGRD is one of the standout roller derby leagues, having won five WFTDA Championships. [4] Today, the league consists of four teams from New York, three travel teams, a competitive development team, a non-competitive entertainment program, and a youth youth program.
League structure
Home Teams
The GGRD consists of four home teams that represent four districts of the city that do not correspond to the skaters’ residences. These teams play against each other in inter-league matches, culminating in the annual championships. Each team is supported by a Girlider squad and consists of 16 skaters selected from the pool.
Travel Teams
The league is made up of Travel Teams that play against other leagues.
Junior Derby
Proof
To join the Gotham Girls, skaters must audition, which takes place annually in October, before becoming the league’s new skaters. Skaters audition over the weekend and then move on to a trial period for several weeks before becoming official league members.
League History
Early Years
Karin “Chassis Crass” Bruce and David “Lefty” Leibovitz met through online advertising in 2003 and together created the Gotham Girls Roller Derby (GGRD), [6] originally set of skaters and holding sessions of “open skating”.In 2004, the GGRD held their first show fight, “Beat Down in the Boogie Down”. [7] at The Skate Key, where a crowd of 600 watched the Brooklyn bombs smash the Manhattan chaos [8] in overtime.
In 2005, GGRD launched its first full season at The Skate Key with 20-25 skaters participating. After two games between Manhattan and Brooklyn, the league introduced Queens of Pain as the first champions of the GGRD season.
In 2006, the league introduced its fourth home team, the Bronx Gridlock. In 2007, The Skate Key closed and the league received a training venue called the Crash Pad. The league began holding seasonal fights at City College of New York and Hunter College. That same year, Brooklyn Bombshells beat the Long Island Roller Rebels All-Stars, and the Manhattan Mayhem beat the New Jersey All-Star Dirty Dames. In 2008, Gotham added more inter-league games and fought eight fights at Hunter College.Wall Street Traitors played with teams from Philadelphia, Connecticut and New England, while Brooklyn Bombs and Manhattan Chaos beat Montreal and Providence, respectively.
Today
Since 2010, the league has trained at the second Crash Pad in Bushwick. In recent years, the GGRD home teams have played against each other at John Jay College and Abe Stark Arena. There are about 150 skaters and officials in the league.
WFTDA Competition
Map of 2006 showing the first 30 WFTDA member leagues
The Gotham Girls All-Stars lost their first league fight in September 2005 against the Dairyland Dolls of Mad Rollin ‘Madison, Wis. 82-72. [2] In February 2006, the All-Stars competed in the first WFTDA-sanctioned Dust Devil Roller Derby Tournament in Tucson, Arizona, where they finished 10th. [9]
All-Stars are five-time champions of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association who won the Hydra Trophy from 2011 to 2014. From the introduction of the WFTDA Division system in 2013 to March 2017, Gotham consistently held the top league rankings in the organization until the Victorian Roller Derby League took first place. [10]
In 2018, Gotham got a goodbye straight to the WFTDA Championship, finishing third among the top four teams in the ranking on June 30th. [11] At the New Orleans Championship, Gotham won the bronze medal 164-151 against the Denver Roller Derby. [12]
