5/6 Wall Ball Leaderboard – PROSPER LACROSSE
There is a well-known saying in lacrosse that the team who picks up the most ground balls will win. The root of it is hustle and desire, as the player that is giving the most effort will gain the ground ball. Ground balls are possessions, and the team that wins possession advantage will most likely win the game. However, this saying can only be true IF the team can pass and catch. Picking up a hard-fought ground ball is negated if it’s immediately turned over with a bad pass or even worse, a perfect pass is simply dropped. Being able to pass and catch is the most basic element of lacrosse and a necessity for success. It’s also a huge factor in gaining playing time as you’ll gain the trust of both the coaches and teammates.
You’ll hear coaches preach about wall ball for as long as you are around this game, from youth all the way through the best D1 programs in the country. It’s as simple as it gets. Throwing against a wall for at least 15-20 minutes a day will have a major impact on a player’s success, and even impact their love for this great game.
To kick off the Spring Season, we have created a wall ball leaderboard for 40 right-handed throws/catches and 40 left-handed throws/catches. To be listed on the leaderboard, send Coach Jason a video at 972-768-5655 with a time that is sub 4 minutes. For those already on the leaderboard (posted below), let’s keep working to lower your times. Let’s see how many we can get sub 2 minutes!
Let’s not just focus on the test when practicing. Hit the wall, get at least 100 right and 100 left each time out. If you knock it out in 5 minutes, do it again. If you can’t get to 100 each, do your best based on time available and you’ll see your efforts pay off before you know it. Lots of reps will lead to success. Then each Sunday, time the 40 right and 40 left to see the improvement. For the newer players, focus on practicing strong hand for 15 minutes, off hand for 5 minutes. Every week, do a test to see how many you can get in one minute, then work to improve it. Before you know it, you’ll be on the leaderboard!
For those with sub 2:30 times for the 40R/40L, let’s keep lowering your times, but let’s also knock out the actual wall ball test that can be found here. We’ll create a leaderboard for that as well. This test brings in more game experience with switching hands and command of the crosse.
Bottom line, start encouraging your sons to grab their stick and gloves (note, always throw with gloves on) each afternoon for a quick throw. If there isn’t a brick wall on the side of your house, every elementary school in Prosper has a solid brick wall where the kids can throw. Or head up to Frontier Park and use the wall ball area that was created specifically for lacrosse. And while this is some friendly competition, it’s also about teamwork. Encourage your buddy to join you. The more kids we have with sub 2 minute times on this leaderboard, the more successful our program will be! Let’s get after it!

90,000 Salavat lost first place in the East because of a lacrosse goal. Ran into the competent defense of Barys

Not scored for the first time in a month and a half.
“Salavat Yulaev” suffered the second defeat in a row and this time could not even finish the game to shootouts. The Ufa team failed to score against Barys in the regular season match (0:2) and ended it without any points scored.
At the same time, the hosts had enough chances for a confident lead, but due to an unusual decision by the Barys forward, they missed the expected victory. Blame the calendar, poor physical preparation or leaders who did not show their game?
Photo (hereinafter): Salavat Yulaev press service
“This is not a standard situation”
Salavat has not lost in regular time since October 6, but experienced serious problems when breaking through the shootouts – three defeats in the post-match series for the last five games. However, in the meeting with Barys, there was finally a chance to play confidently, because the guests lost eight of the last nine matches. In addition, the team of Andrei Skabelka was left without the strongest local player Nikita Mikhailis due to injury. Like the whole team, Nikita began the season uncertainly and was even deprived of the captaincy during the championship.
Before the start of the game, both Ufa goalkeepers had the same percentage of saved shots – 93.9 and were in the top 5 of the league in this component. True, the high performance for the season did not guarantee a positive attitude for the match, at least one of the goalkeepers. Ilya Yezhov , after the game with Avangard, answered journalists’ questions quite sharply. This was due to his disappointment due to the second loss in shootouts in a row (before that, he had lost to Ak Bars). The reaction to the insulting defeat reminded that behind the goalkeeper there is not only a Canadian background, but also three years in the major leagues, as well as several seasons in outsider clubs in the KHL. Victor Kozlov gave the veteran an opportunity to restore his emotions and put Andrey Kareev at the gate .
Andrey Kareev
“Barys” did not put Kareev in a super difficult position. It is curious that “Barys” blocked almost twice as many shots than inflicted on other people’s goals. Andrei worked out his episodes and did not make fatal mistakes, and the first goal conceded was so extraordinary that Kareev was blamed for it.
Egor Petukhov scored a lacrosse goal. Such washers are often considered as an element of foppishness, but in this case an extraordinary solution was appropriate. Barys had a hard time creating chances and this action greatly embarrassed the Ufa team. There was a feeling that Salavat calmed down too early, assuming that the goal would soon mature due to the game advantage. Rolling the puck near the opponents was not enough, the opponent quickly reacted to all threats.
“This is a non-standard situation that is not practiced in training. I tried to intuitively play when I saw that he was bringing the stick, ”said Kareev.
Khmelevsky’s congestion and youth problems
The last “Salavat Yulaev” finished the match with zero a month and a half ago. Then the Ufa hosted Ak Bars and lost 0:3. Since then, the team has gained momentum, began to rise in the table, until, in the end, it became the first in the East. After the defeat on the eve of “Salavat” retreated to second place, letting Avtomobilist forward.
Oleksandr Khmelevsky scored only one goal in the previous five matches: just against Barys, but in another match. The new game against Astana looked like a great chance to get back in shape. However, already at the beginning of the game, he received a removal and tore off the majority of his team. Alexander tried to be active, and in the first period he entered the top 5 players in terms of distance traveled, but these aspirations rarely benefited the team. The player must significantly add to the implementation. In September, the striker was recognized as the best hockey player of the club, but since then he has noticeably passed. He and Sergei Shmelev are the main hopes of the club in attack, so the decline in just two months after the start of the season clearly does not fit into the plans of the Ufa club. Khmelevsky himself refused to communicate with the press after the game.
Very often, the Ufa team threw wide of the target, and Shmelev did not convert several scoring chances. Five minutes before the end of the second period , Julius Gudachek “lost” the goal, and Salavat had the opportunity to respond with a curiosity to a curiosity, but the attack did not respond in time to the episode. Kozlov tried to change the course of the game with a timeout, but soon his team got a goal into an empty net.
Young players tried to compensate for the failures of recognized leaders with their own efforts. Danil Alalykin tried to get away from his opponents due to feints. An indicative moment was in the middle of the second period, when Shakir Mukhamadullin struggled surrounded by a crowd of rivals and brought Alalykin to the lead. This attack succeeded in earning a removal. Salavat management treats young talents as an important part of the team. Not for nothing Rinat Bashirov systematically advocates reducing the number of limiters in the application. Alalykin has not been scoring points for four matches, and Mukhamadullin, in the absence of Murphy, scored only against Kunlun. If the Ufimians claim leadership in the conference, the loss of one player should not affect the overall performance.
Perhaps Kozlov should pay attention to other young players as well. So, during a press conference, one of the journalists told the coach about the success of Semyon Rubtsov , who on the same day scored 2 points in the match for Tolpar against Loko-76. However, Viktor Nikolaevich met this news without much enthusiasm. There is a possibility that he was not impressed by the level of the opponent, because Rubtsov scored not against the youth team, but against the youth team of Lokomotiv.
Alexander Khmelevsky
“It was necessary to score with meat”
At the same time, Salavat justified the status of the most productive team of the first periods, throwing the opponent with a score of 14 – 4, but failed to score at least once. The club from the capital of Kazakhstan has competently built a defensive line, despite the fact that it occupies fourth place from the end in goals conceded. Only the obvious outsiders of the season defend worse – Sochi, Kunlun and Neftekhimik. A lot of questions arise for Ufa forwards. The attack, which a month ago without a chance crushed Avtomobilist and Avangard, again rests against the wall at the decisive stage.
“Not everything worked out, we didn’t score. We lacked the decisive shot, more pressure on the gate. We tried, we tried, but it’s not enough. It was necessary to score with meat – this goal was not enough for us, ”said the forward of Stepan Sannikov .
Viktor Kozlov (right)
After the game, most of the questions to the players and the coach were about fatigue after a hard schedule. Of course, this aspect had an impact on the result. The crazy calendar – six matches in 13 days – is very difficult to overcome without drops. Especially earlier at this time there was a pause for the Eurotour, which allowed to recharge the batteries during the season. “Such a calendar that fatigue accumulates. The reality is that you have to adapt, get used to it. You need to recover properly, ”said Kozlov.
On the other hand, skill level plays an important role. Salavat has not yet fully learned how to win in the class. Now, of the relatively stable forwards, only Shmelev remained. If Sergei has problems, they begin to affect the quality of the game of the whole team. And yet, the club from Bashkortostan is on the right track, trying to play systematically. To date, this team has conceded the fewest goals in the league. If you manage to add aggression in the other half of the field, it will be much easier to compete with the giants.
KHL. Regular season
Salavat Yulaev – Barys – 0:2 (0:0, 0:1, 0:1)
0:1 Petukhov (Graham, 39:20)

Top 10 rating of the best weather stations for home
We advise you to check out the top 10 rating of the best weather stations for home in 2023. In this article, we will tell you which weather station for your home is better to choose and buy. The price-quality rating includes the best weather stations according to customer reviews and expert tests.
Only fortune tellers at the train station lie more than meteorologists on TV. At the same time, it would be nice to know exactly the current weather forecast in order to plan your day, choose the right outfit, and for someone this knowledge is important professionally (for example, in agriculture, in logistics). Information about climate indicators in the house makes it possible to adjust them with the help of humidifiers / dehumidifiers, heaters to optimally comfortable ones, thereby improving the quality of life.
A home weather station is usually a central unit with a display. Outwardly, it resembles an electronic clock or some kind of scoreboard. Sensors are built into the housing that measure indoor climate indicators. To measure temperature, atmospheric pressure and humidity on the street there is an additional remote unit with sensors. It can be wired or wirelessly connected to the base. The length of the wire usually does not exceed 1-1.5 m, so the base will have to be placed next to the window. In professional weather stations, the remote unit is also equipped with an anemometer that determines the strength and direction of the wind. There are certain requirements for the installation of a remote sensor so that the information from them is objective. For example, you need protection from direct rain and sunlight. The microprocessor calculates information from sensors according to certain algorithms and makes a weather forecast for some time ahead.
The remote unit is more often powered by batteries or accumulators. The base can be powered by batteries (accumulators), directly from the mains or from USB. A “smart” weather station can have a built-in communication unit and transmit weather data to the user’s smartphone or to the “smart home” base for further scenarios.
More advanced models have a number of additional options. They can work as a clock, an alarm clock, have a built-in radio or speaker. The screen is often set to monochrome, but there are weather stations with bright color displays.

The device has a built-in alarm clock, can show a calendar.
La Crosse WS6825 comes with 1 external measuring unit, but the station allows you to connect up to 3 such units. Communication with them is wireless. The weather station itself can operate both from batteries and from the mains (via a USB adapter). Given the high frequency of polling sensors (from 30 seconds), the ability to work from the network is an advantage. The base displays the signal level from the external sensor and the degree of its battery charge. You can also set up an audible alarm that will work at certain thresholds of measured values or when the battery is low outside
Bresser National Geographic Weather Station
Externally, this station looks very cool: in a stylish black frame, a black screen with color indication. The control keys on the lower edge of the case barely stand out against the background of the frame itself. The screen is divided into logical sectors. In the center, in a circular segment, the weather forecast is displayed in graphical form. The corners show the actual temperature, humidity and pressure in the house and on the outdoor unit, the weather forecast and the time.
The measurement range in this model is extended for an external sensor: -40..+70 degrees. It is suitable for use in any climate. Humidity is measured in the range of 20-99%. Based on the measurements, the weather station generates a weather forecast for 12-24 hours ahead with a fairly high accuracy.
The station works from the mains, you can turn it on with batteries. The kit comes with 1 external sensor, but the device is able to process and visualize data from three external units.
Levenhuk Wezzer PLUS LP70 Weather Station
This weather station measures outdoor temperature, humidity and precipitation, and indoor temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure. The processor generates statistics, weather forecast, information graphics. If desired, you can put an alert on certain values of the measured values or on some kind of weather forecast. For example, a weather station can warn of an impending downpour or frost.
Levenhuk Wezzer PLUS LP70 operates on both batteries and the mains. During mains operation, the screen may be illuminated all the time. The weather station can be mounted on the wall. There is a built-in stand at the back of the case to place it on a table.
The Wezzer PLUS LP70 screen is large (8 inches), bright, with a large viewing angle. The weather forecast is shown in the center as a picture. As with most other stations, the rest of the information is divided into segments on the sides of this circle with an assessment of the level of comfort for each set of measurements.
The signal from the outdoor unit is in the RF range. Signal transmission distance – 100 m in line of sight.
Kweller S-8200 weather station
Kweller S-8200 is a professional weather station at the lowest price in its class. It collects all possible information about the climate in the house and outside. Temperature, relative humidity and atmospheric pressure are measured in the room. An external sensor determines the ultraviolet irradiation index, wind strength, wind direction, humidity and temperature, precipitation, and the degree of illumination.
The weather station can be connected to a computer and all data can be transferred to it for further analysis. The entire measurement history is stored in memory.
