Player Development and Team Goals for 2023

Iona women’s lacrosse head coach Lauren Kahn has officially announced the 2023 schedule for the team.
The Gaels will play a total of 16 regular season matches and one scrimmage game before the season begins.
Iona’s games are split evenly between non-conference and conference matches with the Maroon and Gold playing against eight teams for each. Iona opens with eight non-conference games before only playing Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponents to conclude the regular season.
Iona will open the season by hosting La Salle University on Feb. 11, but will host Wagner College before this in a pre-season scrimmage on Feb. 4.
The first five regular season games are at home for the Gaels with the visit of La Salle University being followed by Long Island University on Feb. 15, Boston University on Feb. 18, Fairleigh Dickinson University on Feb. 22 and Sacred Heart University on March 1.
Iona’s final non-conference home game is against Lafayette College on March 8, which is sandwiched between the Gaels’ only two away non-conference games, starting with Merrimack College on March 4 and Coastal Carolina University on March 12.
MAAC play will begin with a three-game home stint in New Rochelle at Mazzella Field as the Gaels are set to host Siena College on March 25, Fairfield University on March 29, and Canisius College on April 1.
Iona is then set to play two MAAC away matches. First against Mount St. Mary’s University for just the second ever time and first in a conference game, with the game penciled in for April 5, before a trip to Niagara University on April 8.
A final regular season home game against rivals Manhattan College on April 12, begins a run of four away games in five for Iona to finish the season with trips to Quinnipiac University on April 19 and Marist College on April 22, concluding regular season play for the Gaels.
The Gaels will be hoping to once again qualify for the MAAC tournament after failing to last season as they only won two conference games.
Despite not qualifying for the MAAC tournament, the Gaels showed improvement, going from a team who won just one game all season in 2021, to a team who went 9-7 and 2-6 in conference play.
The MAAC Championships will take place in Edison, New Jersey from April 30- May 7. The opening round is scheduled for Sunday, April 30, the semifinals on Friday, May 5 and the championship game penciled in for May 7, should the Gaels go all the way in the tournament.
