When are fall lacrosse recruiting showcases held. How do prospect days differ from large showcases. Which colleges offer lacrosse prospect camps. What should players consider when choosing events. How can athletes maximize their exposure during these camps.
Understanding Lacrosse Prospect Days and Camps
Lacrosse prospect days and camps serve as crucial opportunities for high school players to showcase their skills directly to college coaches. These events differ significantly from large showcases, offering a more intimate setting for evaluation and interaction.
Key benefits of prospect days and camps include:
- Direct exposure to specific college coaching staffs
- Smaller player-to-coach ratios
- Opportunity to experience a particular college’s culture and facilities
- Chance to demonstrate skills in drills and scenarios favored by that program
How do these events compare to large showcases? While big tournaments allow players to be seen by numerous coaches simultaneously, prospect days provide focused attention from a single program’s staff. This targeted approach can be especially valuable for athletes with strong interest in particular schools.
Navigating the Fall Recruiting Calendar
The fall season presents a unique window in the lacrosse recruiting landscape. Many colleges host prospect days and camps during this period, capitalizing on the off-season to evaluate talent without conflicting with their competitive schedules.
Why is fall an ideal time for these events?
- Players are fresh off their summer club seasons
- High school commitments are typically less intense than spring
- College coaches have more availability to focus on recruiting
- It allows time for follow-up communication before spring commitments
Athletes should strategically plan their fall schedules to balance academic responsibilities with recruiting opportunities. Prioritizing events at top-choice schools while leaving room for unexpected invitations is a prudent approach.
Top Colleges Offering Fall Lacrosse Prospect Camps
Many prestigious lacrosse programs host fall recruiting events. Here’s a snapshot of some notable institutions:
- Yale University – Bulldog 120 Prospect Camp
- University of North Carolina – Tar Heel 100 Prospect Day
- Duke University – Elite 160 Prospect Days
- Johns Hopkins University – Radar Camp
- Villanova University – Villanova 150
- Dartmouth College – Iron Pine Elite Prospect Day
These camps often have specific names or branding, reflecting the program’s identity or the number of athletes invited. For instance, Yale’s “Bulldog 120” suggests an exclusive group of 120 top prospects.
Division III Opportunities
While Division I programs often garner the most attention, many excellent Division III schools also host fall prospect events:
- Williams College Men’s Lacrosse Prospect Camp
- Wesleyan University Men’s Lacrosse Prospect Day
- Swarthmore College Men’s Lacrosse Prospect Camp
- Tufts University Men’s Lacrosse Clinic
These DIII events can be particularly valuable for athletes seeking a balance of academic rigor and competitive lacrosse.
Preparing for Lacrosse Prospect Days
Success at prospect days requires more than just showing up with a stick. How can athletes make the most of these opportunities?
- Research the program thoroughly beforehand
- Prepare questions for coaches about their style of play and team culture
- Arrive in top physical condition
- Bring all necessary equipment, including backup items
- Be ready to demonstrate both skill and coachability
- Follow up with thank-you notes to coaching staff
Mental preparation is equally crucial. Athletes should approach these events with confidence, knowing they’ve earned their invitation through prior performance and potential.
Showcasing Versatility
College coaches value players who can contribute in multiple ways. During prospect camps, be prepared to demonstrate:
- Primary position skills
- Ability to play off-ball or in secondary roles
- Lacrosse IQ through decision-making in drills and scrimmages
- Leadership and communication on the field
Versatility can set you apart in a competitive recruiting landscape.
The Role of Academics in Lacrosse Recruiting
While athletic ability is crucial, academic performance plays a significant role in lacrosse recruiting, especially at top-tier institutions. Many prospect camps, such as the “Lacrosse Masters High Academic Summer Prospect Camp,” specifically target student-athletes with strong academic profiles.
Why do academics matter in lacrosse recruiting?
- Many top lacrosse programs are at academically rigorous schools
- Coaches seek athletes who can succeed both on the field and in the classroom
- Strong grades can open doors to academic scholarships, complementing athletic opportunities
- Some conferences, like the Ivy League, have strict academic standards for recruits
Athletes should strive to maintain a balance between their lacrosse development and academic achievement throughout high school.
Leveraging Academic Strengths
For players with exceptional academic records, certain prospect camps may offer unique opportunities:
- Camps specifically for high-academic prospects
- Events hosted by academically prestigious institutions
- Opportunities to meet with admissions staff during campus visits
These events allow student-athletes to showcase both their athletic and academic potential to college programs.
Navigating COVID-19 Impacts on Recruiting
The ongoing global pandemic has significantly affected lacrosse recruiting, forcing adaptations to traditional processes. How have prospect days and camps evolved in response to COVID-19?
- Many events transitioned to virtual formats in 2020 and early 2021
- In-person camps now often require health screenings and have enhanced safety protocols
- Some schools have reduced camp sizes or split events into smaller groups
- Flexibility has become crucial, with many events subject to last-minute changes or cancellations
Athletes and families must stay informed about each school’s policies and be prepared for potential alterations to the recruiting landscape.
Adapting to New Recruiting Realities
In light of pandemic-related challenges, how can athletes maximize their recruiting efforts?
- Maintain regular communication with coaches via email and permissible social media
- Create and update highlight videos to share with programs
- Be prepared to participate in virtual prospect days or online skill demonstrations
- Stay in top physical condition, ready to showcase skills when in-person events resume
Flexibility and proactive communication have become more important than ever in the recruiting process.
Beyond Fall: Year-Round Recruiting Opportunities
While fall offers numerous prospect days and camps, the lacrosse recruiting calendar extends throughout the year. How can athletes stay engaged in the process across all seasons?
- Winter: Indoor tournaments and showcase events
- Spring: High school season, college camps during spring breaks
- Summer: Club tournaments, intensive multi-day prospect camps
- Fall: College prospect days, regional showcases
Each season presents unique opportunities for exposure and development. Athletes should strategically plan their year to maximize visibility while allowing for proper rest and academic focus.
Balancing Exposure and Burnout
With the abundance of recruiting events available, how can players avoid burnout while still gaining necessary exposure?
- Prioritize quality over quantity in event selection
- Allow for adequate rest and recovery between showcases
- Focus on consistent skill development rather than constant evaluation
- Maintain open communication with coaches about participation in their events
A well-planned approach to the recruiting calendar can help athletes perform at their best when it matters most.
Leveraging Technology in Lacrosse Recruiting
The digital age has transformed lacrosse recruiting, offering new ways for athletes to connect with college programs. How can players use technology to complement their participation in prospect days and camps?
- Create professional online profiles on recruiting platforms
- Develop high-quality highlight videos showcasing key skills
- Engage responsibly on social media, demonstrating character and lacrosse knowledge
- Utilize virtual campus tours when in-person visits aren’t possible
These digital tools can help athletes maintain visibility and communication with coaches between in-person events.
The Rise of Virtual Recruiting
Virtual recruiting events have gained prominence, especially in light of recent global challenges. How do these online showcases compare to traditional prospect days?
- Pros: Wider accessibility, reduced travel costs, ability to connect with more programs
- Cons: Limited ability to assess campus fit, challenges in demonstrating intangibles like leadership and team chemistry
While virtual events offer unique benefits, they should complement rather than replace in-person recruiting opportunities when possible.
As the lacrosse recruiting landscape continues to evolve, staying informed about prospect days, camps, and emerging opportunities remains crucial for aspiring college athletes. By strategically approaching these events and leveraging all available resources, players can maximize their chances of finding the right collegiate fit for their athletic and academic goals.
List of Lacrosse Prospect Days & Camps
This is a list of upcoming men’s lacrosse prospect days & camps. It was designed to help players schedule their recruiting events, vacations, schoolwork, etc. Lacrosse prospect days & camps allow players to be seen by specific college coaches (i.e. your favorite D1 or D3 school) versus random coaches at a showcase. Players also have the full attention of the college’s coaching staff because these are more intimate recruiting events (when compared to huge lacrosse showcases that have hundreds of players competing on multiple fields). The list below shows lacrosse prospect days/camps and similar recruiting events.
- Coaches – Contact us if you would like to add a men’s college lacrosse prospect day or camp to this list. All basic listings are free. Please send us the prospect camp name, date and a link to the event.

Lacrosse Prospect Questions
What is a lacrosse prospect day?
A lacrosse prospect day is a recruiting event put on by individual colleges. It allows players to be seen by specific college coaches (i.e. coaches from their dream D1 or D3 school) versus a multitude of random coaches at a lacrosse showcase. Players also have the full attention of the college’s coaching staff because these are more intimate recruiting events when compared to large showcases. Lacrosse prospect days usually involve drills in the beginning and end with games. They also often provide participants with campus tours and recruiting speeches from the college coaching staff and/or current college players.
What is a lacrosse showcase?
A lacrosse showcases is a recruiting event where individual players compete in front of a large number of college lacrosse coaches. Showcases can be great recruiting events in order to standout versus your peers and to make an impression on multiple college coaches. However, it can be harder to target specific colleges at showcases because coaches often need to watch potentially hundreds of players competing on multiple fields. Unlike prospect days, lacrosse showcases usually only focus on providing participants with games (and generally do not offer events such as campus tours).

The Fall Lacrosse Recruiting Showcase Guide
Editor’s note: This is a guest post by LacrosseRecruits.com Founder Chris Meade. It was originally published here.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
The recruiting circuit has expanded from a showcase and a few tournaments to multiple events every weekend from October to the beginning of December. As more players focus on lacrosse throughout the year and try to take advantage of more opportunities to play in front of college coaches these recruiting events have become more important in the recruiting cycle.
For most coaches, the fall is a great time to get follow up evaluations of players that they may have only had limited opportunity to see them play over the summer.
For sophomores, the fall is the first time that top to middle tier D1 coaches are going to get a chance to start adding players to their recruiting lists. Coaches will follow players throughout the upcoming year in hopes of getting a verbal commitment at the end of next summer or the beginning of next fall.
For juniors, D1 coaches are getting a closer look at players to see if you are someone that they are going to invite onto campus for a visit or offer a spot in their recruiting class. D1 programs from the top to bottom are looking for players. On the D3 level, the fall is when coaches are adding prospects to their recruiting lists and trying to predict the trajectory of a player. (Are they a true D1 prospect? Or do I have a chance on getting him?)
For seniors, the fall is your last shot to be seen by a coach at a school that you are interested in attending. Most early decision admission’s deadlines will have past by the end of November but you still have a chance to garner interest from coaches.
Top Fall Recruiting Showcases
Each lacrosse recruiting showcase review has two sections. The first section, or “summary”, is information taken from the lacrosse recruiting camp’s website. This provides a general overview of the recruiting camp. In the second section, “our take”, The LacrosseRecruits.com experts provide their perspective on which players can benefit most from that specific lacrosse recruiting camp.
Adrenaline High Rollers
November 20/21st – San Diego, CA
Summary:
In its 6th year, Adrenaline High Rollers features the top players from Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Texas, Nevada, Northern & Southern California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Sasketchewan and Calgary, all of whom converge at one location to compete in front of 40+ recruiters from top NCAA & MCLA programs. Recruiters in attendance are from all levels of collegiate lacrosse to match the skill levels of multitude of potential recruits. Contrary to other recruitment venues, this will ensure that not only the top 5 players in any event get the appropriate exposure but all attending players top to bottom. Also unique from other recruiting venues, High Rollers players don’t pay excessively high amounts of money to only play a few games. Players teams are coached by top High School coaches from across the West. NCAA coaches also hold valuable expert level collegiate clinics that push and test the skills of the best players in the West. As with all Adrenaline Primetime Recruiting Events, this is considered a can’t miss for any aspiring collegiate lacrosse player in the West. Players will check in Friday night for advanced clinic sessions and be drafted for 12 teams that will compete over the weekend in intense games to catch the eye of the recruiters on hand. High Rollers participants qualify to be nominated for the Adrenaline Showcase which is the most selective event in the West, and will take place in July of 2011.
Our Take:
Adrenaline puts on this fall showcase with the best talent in the West.
They do a phenomenal job of getting coaches from the East Coast to come out to this event in droves. (It is really hard to get a coach to leave the Northeast for Sunny San Diego in November!) The quality of the competition continues to get better with more players getting recruiting by D1 and D3 programs.
This is the event that you want to go to if you are from the West during the Fall. I just checked their Twitter feed and they have had OSU, UNC, Middlebury, commit in the last week.
Players are either invited by email through their play at previous Adrenaline events or can have their coach recommend them.
Diamond Showcase
November 20/21st – St. Pauls School, MD
Summary:
The Diamond Lacrosse Showcase for male lacrosse players will be held at St. Paul’s School in Baltimore, MD on November 20-21, 2010. It will feature 120 of the top male high school players in the country from the Classes of 2012 (juniors) and 2013 (sophomores).
Players will be showcased to the top college lacrosse coaches in the nation. Admittance is by invitation only. Players may be nominated by their high school or club coach. All applicants will be reviewed by the Diamond Showcase selection committee. A limited number of players at each position will be invited to participate in this event.
Coaches from many top colleges will be in attendance. A list of coaches that attended last year’s event can be found below.
Our Take:
Players are invited to this event based of performance at other tournaments/camps/in season. Players can also be recommended by their high school coach on the events website.
The event draws D1 programs from all over the country. Due to it’s proximity to the Baltimore area, there is a strong representation of ACC and other top D1 programs. The event has a good mix of D3 coaches in attendance as well, ranging from F&M, Dickinson, W&L, etc.
With the amount of events on the weekend of Diamond, the location is a key ingredient to having coaches attend the Diamond Showcase.
Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip 2012 Showcase
November 20/21st – Queen’s University, NC
Summary:
There is no event website
Our Take:
This is the first year of Jake Reed’s 2012 Fall Showcase. The event is an expansion of his highly successful summer camps. The summer camp has been regarded as “the summer event” for D1 recruiting. This Fall Showcase is focused on letting players who have not committed to get a chance to prove themselves in front of D1 coaches.
Players are invited to this event by mailed invitations. There are no coach recommendations available for this event.
Philly Showcase
November 20/21st – Episcopal School, PA
Summary:
The Philly Lacrosse Showcase provides a highly competitive environment for elite high school players aspiring to play college lacrosse. Each registrant is placed on a team, is guaranteed participation in three games over the course of the morning, and has a chance to be selected to play in one of three Gait Lacrosse Fab Forty All-Star games in the afternoon. Additionally, every team will be coached by a top high school coach who, over the course of the morning, will focus on teaching advanced concepts and techniques to every player.
Our Take:
This event is run by Coach Mike Murphy from UPenn. The Philly Showcase boasts a long list of college coaches in attendance in their inaugural year in 2009. There were coaches from Johns Hopkins, Syracuse, Princeton, Hofstra, Denver, Duke and then locally from Villanova, Penn, Drexel and LaSalle. This is more of a regional event with the majority of the 300+ players coming from PA.
Players can be recommended online.

Halo LAX Announces DII and DIII Showcases for Summer/Fall 2021
2 Jun, 2021
Halo LAX, a division of the Sports Facilities Companies, announced their 2021 showcase season to players and coaches from around the nation. Over the course of the 8-event season, hundreds of high school athletes are expected to showcase their lacrosse talent for NCAA Division II and Division III college coaches as well as compete for a coveted invitation to the 2021 Halo LAX College Invitational.
“At the heart of the Halo LAX showcase experience is the genuine opportunity for recruits to interact on the field with college coaches,” said Dave Webster, Head Men’s Coach at Dickinson College. “These events host a limited number of high school players to provide individualized instruction and team competition. College coaches really enjoy this environment and the players have been overwhelmingly positive for this format and style.”
The 2021 Halo LAX Showcase season includes:
-
National D2 Showcase – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 6/29 -
National D2 Showcase – St. Louis, Missouri, 7/12 -
National D2 Showcase – Charlotte, North Carolina, 7/15 -
National D3 Showcase – Rochester, New York, 7/27 -
National D3 Showcase – Hillsborough, New Jersey, 7/29 -

National D3 Showcase – Rochester, New York, 10/17 -
College Invitational – Aston, Pennsylvania, 12/4
According to a 2018 study by the NCAA, lacrosse is the fastest growing collegiate sport over the last 15 years. To put it in perspective, men’s lacrosse experienced a 95% increase reaching 350 teams from 2000 to 2014 with Division III representing the majority of programs.
A unique feature of each showcase is the opportunity for individual instruction and one-on-one direction from coaches recruiting for their rapidly-growing programs. Also, standout athletes from each showcase will be invited to the Halo LAX College Invitational – the ultimate lacrosse showcase featuring top players and attended by both DII & DIII colleges. The 2021 College Invitational will be held at MapleZone Sports Village in Aston, PA on December 4th and 5th. Athletes may also attend the College Invitational by nomination from their current club or high school coach to participate.

CoachUp Nation | Top 7 Men’s Lacrosse Recruiting Camps
Showcase lacrosse camps, also known as showcases, are essential to any player hoping to play college. It’s important to know the right recruiting camps to attend and how to make the most out of them.
While you want to impress as many lacrosse coaches as possible, the number of camps nationwide continues to grow and choosing the right ones to attend can be an overwhelming process. Here is a list of the Top 7 recruiting lacrosse camps to help you decide:
1. Nike Blue Chip (UMBC, Catonsville, MD)
This is the premiere recruiting lacrosse camp in the nation. An invite only camp, director Jake Reed brings the highest caliber players in front of the top Division 1 (D1) coaches for a three-day overnight showcase. It is expensive if you’re invited, but it’s definitely worth the money.
2. Showtime Lacrosse National Recruiting Spotlight (Danbury, CT)
Another invite only camp, Showtime attracts top-tier players and boasts an impressive list of Division 1 coaches (schools like Duke, John Hopkins, and Syracuse). If you are invited, you will be playing with the best in the country and get plenty of D1 exposure.
3. Top 205 (College Park, MD)
It’s less exclusive than Blue Chip or Showtime, but you’ll still need a coach’s recommendation to get invited to 205. Although the camp is large and lacks a personal touch, there may be no better place to showcase your talents in front of a long list of top coaches from all three divisions. Make sure you bring some water though, Maryland can get hot in the summer!
4. New England Top 150 (Portsmouth Abbey School, Portsmouth, RI)
If you’re looking to be recruited by a prestigious academic school with a great lacrosse program, NE Top 150 is a good place to start. With a large contingency of top D3 coaches and a few D1 schools sprinkled in, this three-day overnight camp combines teaching and playing, allowing each player to thoroughly showcase his lacrosse skill. With a focus on fundamentals and team play, NE 150 is a good camp for any player.
5. Peak 200 (Springfield College, Springfield, MA)
Similar to NE Top 150, Peak brings together a well-respected host of D1 and D3 coaches. While the stress is more on games and less on teaching, it is a competitive camp with great talent, and it works hard to connect players with coaches.
6. Prep School Lacrosse Showcase (Brunswick School, Greenwich, CT)
The Prep School Showcase’s talent pool and list of coaches (overwhelmingly Division 1 schools) should put it higher on this list, but the camp’s early June start-date limits the clientele to prep school kids, dropping it to #6. With a ton of D1 coaches in attendance, this camp offers the top prep school players in the Northeast a chance to be recruited by the best programs in the country.
7. Elite 180 Lacrosse Camp (Keene State, Keene, NH)
Like NE Top 150, Elite 180 attracts top student athletes and puts them in front of some of the most competitive academic schools in the country. If you are looking for a smaller, top academic school with a premiere lacrosse program (NESCAC and Liberty League schools for example), Elite 180 is the right camp to attend.
Make the most of the Camp
Most of these camps have sessions for both rising juniors and seniors, and some (like Blue Chip) stretch as far down as rising freshmen. It is important to remember, however, that while showcases are an important part of the recruiting process, camps can be a grind and too many of them in one summer can wear you out. You can’t impress lacrosse coaches when you’re sick of playing, so stick to only a few camps and you’ll have a successful summer. You’ll also want to make sure your skill set is ready to make a real impact and get noticed at these camps, as they can be the key to playing lacrosse in college.

90,000 Autumn window dressing. Photo review
A showcase is something that can turn ordinary passers-by and onlookers into visitors, and possibly buyers. So what makes or prompts a passer-by to look at you?
Like any girl, I like to spy on my reflection in shop windows. Sometimes the eye catches on something interesting and I stop to look at the window. Often after that, there is a spontaneous desire to go to the store, try on something, and there it is not far from buying.
Has long ceased to pay attention to advertising, or rather to trust it. A showcase, in its essence, is an outdoor hidden advertising. And if direct advertising is sometimes annoying and does not inspire confidence, then a properly designed showcase allows you not only to share information about a new product, discounts and promotions, but also awakens positive emotions.
Although I am not a marketer, it seems to me that a skillfully designed “selling” showcase will bring profit no less than outdoor or media advertising.
My favorite is the seasonally decorated display cases. In winter, of course, you rarely find a shop window without winter or New Year’s paraphernalia, but autumn is not in such high esteem.
From the moment I started keeping my notes, I fell ill with the disease to photograph everything that seems to me in the slightest degree of interest. So recently, while walking around the city, I took several photographs of autumn showcases. Of course, there are only a few of them.
Even though I have not studied shop windows and I am not an ace in this business, it seems to me that the new season is a great reason to renew the shop window.Companies with the help of shop windows can create their own recognizable, unique and vivid image. This does not mean that with the arrival of autumn, everyone should immediately cover everything with yellow leaves, of course not. You can find more creative options.
For the review, the photos taken by me are not enough, so the worldwide network came to the rescue. Having rummaged through the Internet, I found, in my opinion, interesting solutions.
Most often, leaves made of paper, plastic and even real fallen leaves are used for these purposes.
Also the easiest way to upgrade your showcase is to use vinyl decals .
Sometimes trees and their imitation are installed in showcases. Some solutions are rather unusual.
90,026 animals are popular. They are often not only an addition, but also the main, main element of the installation: they are dressed up, and also the heads of various animals are used for mannequins.
Since autumn is time , harvest , many stores, not only grocery ones, use various autumn fruits in the decoration of shop windows.
Personally, I am impressed when clothes or various accessories in showcases take on an unusual autumn look.
P.S. It is often said that a showcase is a business card of a store. Perhaps I agree.
See also a selection of showcases as if “Gone with the Wind”.

United States of America – What a tourist needs to know, travel guide
The Statue of Liberty is included in the list of the tallest statues in the world, where it ranks 41st when considering the size of the sculpture itself. If we compare the monuments together with their pedestals, then the list will be completely different, since some of the pedestals are very high, others are low, and still others are absent. Taking into account all the components, the inhabitant of Freedom Island turns out to be much closer to the top of the list – on the 10th line, and until 1959 she took 1st place in it. Moreover, until 1961 it was among the leaders in terms of main growth.
History of the Statue of Liberty
As noted, the Statue of Liberty was a gift to America from the French people, but it is important to add that the development of the project, the fundraising and the creation of the monument is a joint effort between France and the United States. The design of the statue was invented by the sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, whose hand also belongs to the famous monument of the Lion of Belfort, and the project for its construction was created by the engineer Gustave Eiffel. The work started in the early 1870s and ended only in 1884. But even before the design was fully thought out, Bartholdi created a head and hand with a torch, which were presented in 1876 at international exhibitions: at Madison Square in New York and the World’s Fair in Philadelphia, respectively.
The prototype of the appearance was the Roman goddess Libertas, or the goddess of freedom. In his left hand, the statue holds a tablet with a Roman inscription: “JULY IV MDCCLXXVI”, which means the date of American independence – July 4, 1776. The crown with long rays symbolizes the sun, which together with a torch illuminates the world. There are seven rays in total, which refers to the seven seas and seven continents. With its left foot, “Freedom Illuminating the World” stands on the broken shackles reflecting the abolition of slavery. The frame for the sculpture was made of steel, and the sculpture itself was made of 2.4 mm thick copper sheets.Initially, the Statue of Liberty had a reddish hue characteristic of this metal, but already at the beginning of the 20th century, an oxide-carbonate film, known as patina, formed on its surface under the influence of air and moisture, and the sculpture acquired a soft green-blue color.
Statue of Liberty Museum
There is a museum in the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty, where you can find out basic details about the monument, as well as see interesting exhibits. So, in the hall there is an original torch, which in 1986, as part of the restoration work, was replaced by a new one, covered with 24-carat gold. However, the torch is not the only exhibit in the museum that allows one to appreciate the imposing size of the Statue of Liberty up close – there is also a life-size replica of her left leg in the hall: only one little finger is quite comparable to about a 3-year-old child.
Inside the statue, along its entire height, there is a staircase that allows you to climb up to the crown itself, 25 windows of which create a magnificent panorama of New York and its environs. True, to get there, tickets must be ordered several months in advance, since no more than 240 visitors are allowed upstairs every day, while in total up to 12,000 come to the island. There is an observation deck in the pedestal itself, from there you can see a view of New York Harbor. 3,000 people are admitted there every day. An excursion to Liberty Island also includes a visit to neighboring Ellis Island, where the Museum of American Population is located.
American Food
The first American cookbook was published in 1796. The significance of this work is so great that it is called the cornerstone of the country’s culinary and a kind of second Declaration of Independence of the United States. In a sense, the author, a simple orphan woman Amelia Simmons, really writes about independence: she has collected English recipes in which some of the ingredients are replaced with products characteristic of the continent, for example, oats – with corn. We can say that European and Indian cuisines met in this edition. But that was just the beginning – in the future, immigrants from dozens of countries made a great contribution.
From variety to diet and cost
The art of cooking in this country is a fusion of styles, and it is difficult to speak in general. It is better to separately study American-Chinese cuisine, American-Italian, American-Mexican, Louisiana Creole, Pennsylvania Dutch … True, it is still difficult to talk about American-Russian cuisine, but who knows, maybe one day it will appear. At the same time, there are enough Russian restaurants in the USA. By the way, about restaurants (any): if such an institution is positioned as a mid-level one, lunch there costs about $ 12, as a high-level one – twice as much. If we are talking about fast food restaurants like McDonald’s, then $ 7 is required. This data was found on the Numbeo service in June 2016.
If you want to spend even less, 5 dollars, you can use the services of kitchens on wheels, but the cheapest way, as in any country, is to simply cook at home. It also makes it easier to keep track of your diet. This issue is very relevant in the United States – regular fast food is associated with an epidemic of obesity: approximately 35% of adults and 17% of children in this country are obese. During the 1980s and 1990s, the average American’s calorie intake increased by 24%.This has led to increased financial costs, including medical costs – on average, treatment associated with this diagnosis requires an additional $ 1,429, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – CDS.
Find out how much you need to spend on a US grocery basket that provides 2,400 calories a day, which is enough for most adults. Again, let’s take the Numbeo statistics, and, like last time, it concerns not a specific city, but the country as a whole. There are two main food styles – western and eastern. The first costs $ 334, the second $ 263 per month, with each balanced (but sticking to any, you need to take into account the characteristics of your body). You can see the list of products, their prices, taking into account the daily weight / quantity, on the mentioned website. We only note that, of course, there is more rice in the eastern basket (250 g instead of 100 g), but there is absolutely no milk in it.
