Top 66 safest cars in 2011
66 cars received the highest Top Safety Pick at once, but the Buick LaCrosse became the absolute leader, the Audi A3 was recognized as the safest car in the middle class, and the Chevrolet Cruze was the leader in the subcompact class. Also among the leaders there are Hyundai, Kia and Volkswagen cars – they have 9 cars each in the rating, as well as GM, Ford and Toyota – 8 cars from each. In addition, Subaru became the only brand that received the highest rating for all classes of its cars, taking 5 positions at once in the Top 66 Safest Cars of 2011.
Note that the IIHS rating is considered the most objective, and in order to receive the highest Top Safety Pick rating, a car must pass a series of tests. In particular, a frontal impact of a car at a speed of 64 km / h on a deformable barrier with displacement, then a stationary car is hit on a steel frame at a speed of 50 km / h, a roof strength test with a load weighing 4 times the weight of the car. After that, a standing car is hit from behind at a speed of 50 km / h, simultaneously measuring the load on the necks of the driver and passengers and the general deformation of the body.
Of the Top 66, only 44 cars are exported to the Russian market, which are much more modestly equipped in terms of safety.
