- Inspect the ball stop for any visible screws or fasteners.
- If screws are present, remove them carefully.
- For glued ball stops, apply heat using a heat gun to soften the adhesive.
- Gently pry the ball stop away from the head using the flathead screwdriver.
- Use pliers to grip and pull the ball stop if needed, being careful not to damage the head.
Is it necessary to replace the ball stop after removal? In most cases, yes. A new ball stop ensures optimal performance and adherence to regulations. However, if the original is in good condition, it can be reattached using appropriate adhesive.

- Plunge the head into ice water to set the new shape.
Alternative Breaking-in Methods
- Use a heat gun to target specific areas for shaping.
- Employ gradual bending techniques over time without heat.
- Utilize specialized faceoff head breaking-in tools.
How long does it typically take to fully break in a faceoff head? The process can vary, but most players report optimal performance after 2-4 weeks of consistent use and maintenance.
Removing Logos from Lacrosse Head Scoops: Customization Techniques
Removing logos from lacrosse head scoops allows for a cleaner look or preparation for custom designs. This process requires careful attention to avoid damaging the head material.
Logo Removal Steps
- Clean the scoop area thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris.
- Apply rubbing alcohol to a Magic Eraser or similar melamine foam sponge.
- Gently rub the logo area in circular motions, applying consistent pressure.
- Continue until the logo is no longer visible, being careful not to damage the surrounding plastic.
- Clean the area with water and dry thoroughly.
Are there risks associated with removing logos from lacrosse heads? While the process is generally safe when done carefully, aggressive scrubbing or use of harsh chemicals can potentially weaken the plastic or affect the head’s structural integrity.
Stringing a Lacrosse Head: Crafting the Perfect Pocket
Stringing a lacrosse head is both an art and a science, allowing players to customize their stick’s performance to suit their playing style. Proper stringing affects ball control, shot accuracy, and overall feel of the stick.
Basic Stringing Steps
- Choose appropriate mesh and string materials.
- Attach the mesh to the scoop of the head.
- Create sidewall knots to shape the pocket.
- String the bottom string to secure the mesh.
- Add shooting strings for enhanced ball control.
- Adjust and fine-tune all elements for optimal performance.
Does the type of mesh used affect stringing techniques? Yes, different mesh types (traditional, semi-soft, soft) require specific stringing approaches to maximize their unique characteristics and achieve the desired pocket shape and performance.
Innovative Lacrosse Head Hacks: Enhancing Equipment Performance
Players and equipment managers often develop innovative hacks to improve lacrosse head performance or address common issues. These techniques can provide unique advantages or solutions not found in standard maintenance practices.
Popular Lacrosse Head Hacks
- Using cork or rubber shims to tighten loose heads.
- Applying wax to strings for weather resistance and longevity.
- Utilizing specific knot patterns for enhanced ball retention.
- Employing heat-molding techniques for custom head shapes.
- Creating DIY string locks for consistent pocket performance.
Are all lacrosse head hacks legal for competitive play? It’s crucial to consult official rulebooks and regulations, as some modifications may not be permitted in organized competitions. Always prioritize safety and adherence to rules when implementing equipment hacks.
The Impact of Equipment Care on Performance
Proper maintenance and customization of lacrosse equipment, particularly heads, can significantly impact a player’s performance on the field. From ensuring a secure head-to-shaft connection to crafting the perfect pocket, each aspect of equipment care contributes to overall effectiveness.

“Central Texas Youth Lacrosse Association LOVES Signature Lacrosse! The sales team is amazing!! They are easy to work with and super knowledgeable of all things lacrosse, which has made my job so much easier. Signature products have unbeatable quality with an affordable price point, which has given our nonprofit youth league access to better balls and equipment. Signature has fast turnaround time, from order to delivery they are the fastest company we have worked with. CTYLA will definitely be a long time customer of Signature Lacrosse! We can’t wait to see what other products they will releasing in the future!”
– Jess Rest, Central Texas Youth Lacrosse Association
“I haven’t seen any balls last this long in my 24 years of coaching, a great product from a great company run by lacrosse players.”
Michael Kinney, Alma College Head Coach
“One of the biggest hassles of coaching lacrosse is finding quality lacrosse balls, getting them shipped at a reasonable price, and not have the players complain about the condition of the balls after a week. Owning a club team, directing camps, clinics, and private lessons, as well as coaching a private high school all the time, the last thing I need is a ball problem. Signature fixed that problem for me. Happy I found them”
-Rich Klares, Highland School Head Coach
“We worked with Signature this season and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. They called a few months prior to the season, I provided a delivery date and told them what we needed. A few days before my delivery date I got a tracking number. Incredible product, awesome story, and unbelievable customer service. We will definitely be using Signature again next season”
-Tom Gravante, Mount St. Mary’s Head Coach
“As a college coach, the last thing I want to worry about is lacrosse balls. The guys at Signature not only made the ordering process as easy as possible, but they also gave us a product that’s allowing our team to get more out of their reps everyday at practice. I haven’t seen any balls last this long in my 4 years of coaching, a great product from a great company run by lacrosse players”
-Brendan Murphy, Canisius College Lacrosse
“We worked with Signature this season and I was extremely satisfied with the experience. The ordering process was simple and they got me exactly what I needed in a timely fashion. Eric was also extremely helpful in shipping a case of balls to our spring break location on very short notice. Bottom line, the customer service is elite. A lacrosse company run by lacrosse guys for the lacrosse community. We will definitely be using Signature again next season and look forward to it”
-Max Silberlicht, Bowdoin College Lacrosse
“We at the University of Oklahoma have thoroughly enjoyed our custom branded OU lacrosse balls by Signature Lacrosse. They have helped our men’s lacrosse program get to the next level with tons of repetitions, as we ordered five cases for practice and one case for games. It’s terrific to differentiate our OU lacrosse balls from our opponents balls during pre game warm ups. But what we have found, instead of getting our custom OU lacrosse balls returned, people are keeping them because they are so cool! Thanks again for the fabulous customer service, quick shipping and even better pricing. We highly recommend youth, high school and college programs to check out signature lacrosse custom balls. We will definitely be a client for many seasons in the future”
-Mario Enea, University of Oklahoma Head Coach
“Switching over to Signature was one of the best decisions I’ve made for my program. Their premium balls lasted us twice as long, and the players really preferred the Signature balls. I can’t wait to have our team test out the new products they are releasing. Great company run by lacrosse guys, who take a lot of pride in their products.”

In 2004 Bulykin and Ovchinnikov starred in the Reflex video. The players scored on the ban of the RFU, and the shooting reminded them of an agreement – Everything Golovin – Blogs
This is Non Stop – we will be the first!
It’s hard to imagine, but 15 years ago, athletes got on Russian TV by a miracle. They were not invited to The Last Hero and the Vremya program, Malakhov did not film the show about them, and they gave interviews to the gloss once a century. This worried the producer of the Reflex group (a duet of girls – Irina Nelson and Alena Torganova) Vyacheslav Tyurin (Irina Nelson’s husband) – a big football fan. He saw that abroad the opposite is true: the images of football players are used in advertising and music.
Then he came up with the idea of filming football stars from Russia in the video. To do this, I chose Dynamo forward Dmitry Bulykin, who then just scored a hat-trick for Switzerland in the selection for Euro 2004. The result was a video for the song Non Stop, which was powerfully sold in 2004, and 13 years later became popular again:
Moreover, it was performed by a choir in military uniform, and at that moment Poperechny was descending with a guitar from under the roof. “Guys, this is such a thing… I don’t know how to tell you, but… When the music is louder, my eyes are closed. Phew! I have long wanted to say. This is Non Stop. I want to start with Reflex stand-up! I’m too fucking ########### this is shit,” he tweeted in advance.
2. The refrain from Non Stop was used by Vulgar Molly, a Ukrainian band that you definitely heard about if you didn’t deny the Internet in 2016-2018. Now the cover of “Naughty Molly” has 3.4 million views on YouTube. On the Reflex channel – 2.7 million.
“The song turned out to last forever,” says Vyacheslav Tyurin in a conversation with Sports.ru. – Next year we have 20 years of the group, a solo concert in the Kremlin. And it will be called Non Stop. I think along with “Go Crazy” and “Dancing” Non Stop is a meme song in a good way. Lines from it are still written on the fences. When we go to St. Petersburg, we still notice the calligraphy “The music is louder – the eyes are closed.” And “We will be the first” – too.
And how many covers appear! It’s really cool to read the comments under “Naughty Molly” how people are fighting: “What the hell? They covered the song of their favorite Reflex. ” Or the youth in the comments under our video from 2004, on the contrary, writes: “I went in, and here are two kasholkas of some kind.”
I am sure that the success was also due to the fact that we made a fiery video clip with the players. This was the first attempt to humanize their image, to bring them closer to the masses.”
The producer was inspired by a Nike commercial featuring Henri, Figo and Canton. Clip Reflex really looks a lot like her
Tyurin says that the idea to shoot athletes was in his head long before the video appeared, but it was finally formed during a conversation with director Alexander Igudin: “We sat with him, also a big fan of football, and thought about the video. Suddenly I suggest: “Let’s shoot football stars?”. This is now Team Russia, everything is hyped. Then the players were behind seven locks. And the locks in the video are just an Easter egg, a distant image of how the athletes were closed.
Vyacheslav says that Igudin was surprised by the offer: “How do we shoot? We have a song about love “-” So what? We will take the language of metaphors, images.
The producer (who was also a composer) and the director together changed one line in the text of Gleb Kalpurniy (“The dark night will hide under the sheet \ This is for us to remember” – these lines were originally different, but Tyurin does not remember which ones ) and came up with the idea of making a reference to the Nike commercial already circulated around the world, where there was a cage on the ship in which Henri, Van Nistelrooy, Scholes, Maldini, Thuram, Davids, Figo and several other supertops from the early 2000s were cut.
True, in Russia the footballers were placed in a clearing, and girls (Tyurin’s wife Irina Nelson and Alena Torganova) were placed in a cage. Bulykin and Ovchinnikov were supposed to save them by beating the second team (from RPL players Zaur Khapov and Radoslav Batak). Instead of Canton, who in the Nike video played the judge who came up with strict rules, the authors of Non Stop created their own antagonist – a DJ who was then part of Reflex. They replaced the chain dog with a tiger cub.
According to Tyurin, there were no disputes about who to shoot in the main role: in September 2003, Bulykin scored three Swiss and was at the peak: “Friends got his phone, Dima immediately answered: “Come on, it’s not a question at all, of course “. After that we already met. I say: “I’m an indie producer, we have a self-made brand, I don’t work with anyone, I don’t have any special money, we write songs ourselves. We are a subculture, but pop “-” Yes, I was not even going to ask for money, why are you confused. I’m wondering, I love Reflex, your songs. And I will pull people up, it’s not a question ”-“ And who will you bring? – “Ovchinnikova” – “Well, nifiga yourself.”
– Why were you surprised?
– The boss was then a top, around him a halo – not malicious, but cold. Such a quick agreement seemed very unusual.
In addition to Lokomotiv player Ovchinnikov (Dmitry played with him for Loko in 1995-1997), Dynamo player Bulykin invited Montenegrin teammate Radoslav Batak and Loko second keeper Zaur Khapov to the video. “They said: “Let’s try, if not for a long time,” Bulykin recalls 15 years later. There was no casting. We just decided to make a video with friends.”
Tukmanov forbade Reflex to use images of football players in the video. Bulykin said that the bosses of the RFU can go to hell, and filmed without permission
Tyurin and Bulykin admit that the players participated in the filming for free. “Purely for the sake of interest, I wanted to try. All the foreigners around were filming, we also decided, ”explains Bulykin. According to him, at that time everything seemed simpler than now: for example, it was not necessary to sign papers on the use of personal data and the transfer of the image and coordinate the shooting at the club.
The problem with uniforms and balls was solved through adidas, with which Dmitry had a contract: the brand provided the official Euro 2004 ball, T-shirts and shorts with logo for filming. Instead of a logo, they first wanted to put the inscription Reflex, but refused. “We made a friendly deal. We wanted to make a beautiful clip so that people would pay attention, ”the footballer sums up.
Tyurin recalls another difficulty – with the RFU. Before filming, the producer wanted to get permission from the organization to use the images of the players: “But a man named Tukmanov answered us:“ No, no football players of the Russian national team. Are you out of your mind? – “And what? Cool idea, we have shooting, budget. Let’s make them heroes” – “No, no, no.” To which the guys said: “Yes, they fucked up” – “Can I?” “It’s actually easy. They are the departed officials. They don’t understand that we are playing for people.”
After 15 years, the producer considers that decision a breakthrough event for the sport: “Then they played as if for themselves, there were some championships, but only the fans knew about them. What can I say – there were no rules for giving interviews. They could forget: they got off the bus, muzzle with a chopper: “Go to hell, you all.” Now in every team there are people who are more willing to go for it, who are more open. Then everything was closed. And we wanted to show, as Ira said, “that we have guys cooler than David Beckham. We don’t need to show it.”
The players did not play at full strength on the court, and many valuable shots did not fit because of the timeline
Filming of Non Stop took place in Moscow at the former factory at Derbenevskaya, 20. Now the Kozhevniki business center is located there, then it was under renovation: dilapidated buildings, in one of them a football field was installed.
“We installed the platform for a week. Made it really cool. First, gravel was poured, covered with a synthetic coating. More garbage was piled on top of this. And already on top of this garbage – a layer of grass in rolls. Bulykin said that the glade turned out better than at Dynamo, Tyurin is proud.
Together with the editing, the production of the clip took a month. The shooting itself took only a day: from two in the afternoon to four in the morning. All this time the players, the director and the producer were present at the site. “I can’t imagine how they survived. I was so exhausted that I had a nervous breakdown. I didn’t sleep for three nights, I just couldn’t sleep. The overexcitation is very strong, shaking,” says Tyurin.
The clip’s budget, according to him, amounted to 60-70 thousand dollars at that time: “By today’s standards, we did not use revolutionary technologies, but there were special lighting devices that could be moved dynamically. Filmed on the latest model of the Arriflex camera, which then filmed all the blockbusters. I remember very expensive tripods that conveyed all the dynamics.
Bulykin remembered the Hammer from the equipment, which appears at the beginning of the video: “There was nothing at all inside it: even the trim on the doors. But from the outside it looked decent. We were told that according to the plot, we should get out of it and make such a movement with our hand, as if we were not filming. It didn’t come out too naturally, but this take came out quickly. But the arrival of the Hammer was filmed in five or six takes: we arrived, got out of it, sat back, handed over back, forward. At first we drove from afar, then they filmed how we were driving closer. We were told how to get out, where to raise our heads, not to turn our backs to the camera. So many nuances! We don’t notice them, but on camera they are important.”
Tyurin says that the Hammer was custom and belonged to a big businessman who no longer lives in Russia: “He is my friend. He had a garage nearby. He said: “Take it, it’s not a pity for a good deed. Moreover, my favorite football players will be filmed.”
Most of the shots with the car were not included in the video: “They were talking as they drove up. As Reflex stands and takes pictures, they drive by. ” According to Tyurin, with them the video would have become a real movie with a twisted plot, but then “everyone soared over the timeline – 3:30 and no more to enter the television air. YouTube was just getting started.
There were also problems with filming football. Tyurin wanted the players to play at full strength – the director explained that this was impossible. “I remember filming a long-range strike. I say: “Dim, hit with all your might,” Tyurin recalls. – Igudin stops: “We won’t shoot then. We have a rapid 150, we won’t catch the ball.” As a result, Dima hit at half strength. Hapov, by design. should have missed. And there you can clearly see that the ball flies into the hands of Khapov, but in the end he misses. Hop, stupid glue – and the ball under it. The athletes laughed at this for a long time, wrote letters to me. We ourselves neighed on the site, recalled the agreements.
Then they told Ovchinnikov: “And now you need to pull it out of the nine” – “I’m already filming for free, can I still fly on the nines?” Joke, of course. Everyone played the best they could. It is clear that now they would have done better, but at that time it was cool.
Dangerous moments, tackles and martial arts were filmed after the main football – at first Bulykin, Ovchinnikov, Khapov and Batak simply ran two on two or arranged shuffling among themselves. “We played, but we were given a task,” Bulykin explains. – For example, that the Reds should now score. At this moment, Black should not actively engage in selection, not jump. Then there was an indication that we are now using such a feint. They said in advance where to run from and where to hit later – so that all this would get into the camera. Or I had a scene when one had to hit the ball from the summer. I couldn’t get into the top nine. This moment was re-shot for a long time.
– Given that the players are not actors, is it difficult to work with them?
– Another problem: we were cramped. God forbid, someone would be hurt and injured. Because of this, emotions, of course, are not squeezed. Plus, at first they themselves came jammed. Then they thawed out, realized that it was possible to clobber the net with all their might, that it would not fall apart. And then there was so much enthusiasm when they saw the result, fat shots. They blissed out and carried only positive.
Even after 15 years, Bulykin recalls that the shooting turned out to be difficult: “I had to do tricks, smile, run through a certain place, stop, keep my head up and look at the camera at that time. It’s hard for a simple athlete who is just used to running and not thinking about how he looks, where to smile and how his hair is. There are still a lot of unnatural movements for a football player. And there was makeup. Hairspray sharashil”.
– Well, varnish is definitely not a problem for you.
– Then we did not use it. I only started when I left for Europe. They told me there: “Do you know how we recognize Russians? They never use gel or polish before a game. ” And I started using it. “Oh, just a European footballer.” They laugh at us, and they also have a manicure-pedicure that comes once a week to the base. And the osteopath comes. And a psychologist. And our guys washed their uniforms at that time.
Another moment: when I arrived in Germany, the guys and I went for the first time to drink beer – and I started hiding when they asked me to take a picture. Them: “What are you hiding?” – “Well, beer is not normal.” They were surprised because there, after the first game, beer was handed out to everyone right on the bus.
The release of the video before the Euro fell through due to MTV. The song still became a hit, Bulykin was invited to awards and even filmed naked
Tyurin sees no problem in the fact that he chose a love song for the video with the football players: “Football people have a feeling that football songs must be sung by brutal voices should be brutal melodies. I don’t agree with this. For example, YNWA is not a brutal song. When we ourselves tried to taxi to the sport, we got plastic. There was no drive. We just realized that the state that is achieved in the song is akin to flying. And it doesn’t matter what you fly from – from the love of football or feelings. And here “This is Non Stop” and “We will be the first” are just a cannon.
According to the producer, the phrase “We will be the first” is the main Easter egg of the clip. From a simple line of text, it turned into a slogan and a message to the team at Euro 2004, before the start of which they filmed a video: “We made this line a refrain.”
The second Easter egg is castles. “We wanted them to be a symbol that we are breaking the shackles of football. That castles are falling. We wanted a more open policy on the part of the RFU, so that we would be treated sincerely. And no one listened to us, ”the producer complains.
The third easter egg is the football players who at the end of the clip carry the girls from the group in their arms: “The man is the winner. The winner is a player of the Russian national team. Ovchinnikov and Bulykin are carrying the liberated women.”
Fourth Easter egg: Bulykin’s header, which also refers to the match with Switzerland and visualizes success. A few months later, Dmitry will score a similar goal in the last Euro match with Greece. “I remember we deliberately gave Dimka a head kick. We wanted the same thing to happen at the tournament,” explains Tyurin.
The clip was originally prepared for release before the start of the Euro. For promotion, the group gave it to the then main music channel of the country MTV: “They did not answer for three weeks. When the deadlines were running out, we came to them. A man named Yurkelov worked there. We say: “We were told that the video was refused. This is true?” – “But we don’t play pop music” – “What do you mean? This is a clip, this is the Russian team. Wake up, dude.” But they didn’t deliver. Show business was just in its infancy, and it was necessary to show the effect of the watchman: “But we won’t stage it.” It was very unpleasant. And it’s still embarrassing. We wanted the video to become a football song at the Euro, because of this it did not. They acted like the last creatures.”
Due to the fact that the channel took three weeks to respond, the release of the video came at a time when the Russian team had already left the Euro. But even against the backdrop of failure, according to Tyurin, the song “immediately went”: “I remember we were on tour in Kyiv. The Channel One team flew to shoot an interview with the group. They wanted to get an interview right away. I said: “Guys, wait, they will arrive in two days” – “No, we are flying to Kyiv to talk to Reflex.”
Similar popularity covered Bulykin. For example, he even posed naked for Cosmopolitan magazine: “I was persuaded. The editor-in-chief called, she said that it definitely wouldn’t be nude, that we would cover you, everyone wants to look at the athlete’s body, you will be in swimming trunks or shorts. And they cheated. I had to pose with one soccer ball. But the pictures turned out to be normal, the muscles are visible, I think many girls liked it.
Then the bonuses started. Constantly published in all magazines, interviewed. I was already cursed at Dynamo. You open the newspapers – I’m there, turn on the TV – I’m at the awards. He said: “Well, what to do if it’s so popular.”
– Dima-Disco named you after that?
– Even before. This Semberas came up with. The fact is that when I came to the disco, all the doors were open for me. I knew everyone, I talked with Pasha Face Control since childhood. And when they saw me 20 meters away, they told me how to bypass the line. Football players thought that I was hanging out every day, but I just knew the guys. I could always call and go. They talked about any disco like this: “You need to call Dima – he will decide.” They always made the best tables for me – and they did it for free.
– Did you often go yourself?
– Not in the way everyone thinks. Before the match, we were generally closed at the base for two days. Going out was not an option. And after the game, of course, we went. There was a place on Tverskaya, Night Flight. This club still exists today. In the 90s, almost no one was allowed into it: only foreigners and some football players.
There are so many jokes that it’s hard to tell! How they got drunk and hung out. Not like Kokorin and Mamaev in Monaco, but powerful performances. Hockey players were the most drunk and waved with everyone. The players tried to get away from this, quietly dumped. And they loved to play tricks. But not like those who played before us. There people left for the tour team. Someone told how one friend comes to the wife of a football player and says: “Mine left, but yours?” – “I also left – for the tour team. As soon as he gets into it, he always leaves. She looked at her: “Eh, what team of the tour, what are you doing?”.
Reflex recorded a song about football and are thinking of making a sequel to Non Stop.
They want to invite Bulykin and Ovchinnikov to shoot
The Reflex group continues to follow football. For example, Irina Nelson’s comments can be found under the Instagram posts of Dziuba, Slutsky, Mario Fernandez and many other football players. Tyurin says that she communicates well with some. For example, Semak or Karpin.
Irina Nelson and Vyacheslav Tyurin
They are also in touch with Bulykin. Dmitry says that he does not review the clip (“only recently they sent it from Germany – they showed it on some channel”), but with Tyurin he is constantly on the phone: “He even offered political assistance (in the summer of 2019th Bulykin tried to become a candidate for the Moscow City Duma, but was not allowed to vote due to defective signatures – Sports.ru), he has many friends from politics. They could advise something, but then it was not clear whether I would reach the elections or not. I started the campaign late that I didn’t have time to talk to anyone and there was little chance of doing anything. ”
The football player and the group were brought together, including a joint trip to Portugal. Bulykin was there as part of the national team for Euro 2004, the group flew to visit him and spent the entire group stage nearby. “We just wanted to see the project through to the end. Shoot something, be with guys. We went to the base, talked, went to the beach together. I, Ira, Mostovoy, Smertin, Aldonin, Bulykin. Chatted, they talked about how everything happens. We went to the beach – a day later, Mostovoy was forbidden to train with the team, – says Tyurin.
What is being done now is all right. I mean the support of the team, the slogan “Our guys”. For this, players must constantly keep themselves in good shape. Constantly follow the face, look normal, do not bully, because you are filmed all the time. That was not enough then, and I sincerely wanted to raise the image of our football, of which I am still a fan.”
In 2013, Irina’s American album Sun Generation released the song Don’t give up, which reached number 36 in the Billboard chat. The whole song is dedicated to football players. “There is a text about a football player as a hero, such an epic. It starts with Everybody counts your money, but no one cares how you feel when your leg hurts, when you have a concussion.
Now we want to revive it – we have Russian text. I want to release it separately, not even in an album, but separately – just for athletes, ”admits Tyurin.
– But you didn’t shoot athletes in videos anymore?
– To be honest, we still have plans to shoot the continuation of the video Non Stop. I had a script: we take those heroes and new heroes. Arshavin was ready to act when he was still playing in England. But then everything turned out to be difficult: we lived in another country, we had work that had to be completed according to the contract. When they returned, Arshavin did not go so smoothly. But he agreed, we met with him.
