What makes Sacramento ACES Lacrosse stand out in youth sports. How does the ACES coaching philosophy prioritize player development. Why are former collegiate All-Americans choosing to coach with ACES. What opportunities does ACES provide beyond the lacrosse field.
The Sacramento ACES Advantage: A Legacy of Excellence
The Sacramento ACES have established themselves as the premier lacrosse program in the Sacramento Valley over the past nine years. Their success stems from a carefully crafted coaching philosophy and an unparalleled staff of experienced mentors. But what exactly sets the ACES apart from other youth sports programs?
At the core of the ACES philosophy is a commitment to creating a fun, competitive environment that prioritizes player development over rigid tactical instruction. This approach recognizes that young athletes learn best through active participation and repetition, rather than passive observation.
ACES Coaching Philosophy: Learning Through Action
- Focus on creating a fun, competitive environment
- Emphasis on player development over tactical instruction
- Belief in learning through repetition and activity
- Minimizing passive observation in favor of active participation
This player-centric approach has attracted an impressive roster of coaches, many of whom bring high-level playing and coaching experience to the program. The numbers speak for themselves:
- Over 500 years of combined playing and coaching experience
- 10 former collegiate All-Americans on staff
- 52 seasons of collegiate coaching experience
- Coaches hailing from 11 different states
Perhaps most tellingly, 26 former ACES players have returned to coach and train with the program, demonstrating the lasting impact and sense of community fostered by the organization.
Building Character Beyond the Field: The ACES Impact
While lacrosse skills are undoubtedly important, the Sacramento ACES program aims to have a more profound influence on its young athletes. How does ACES strive to impact lives beyond the lacrosse field?
The program places a strong emphasis on leadership development and character building. By creating a consistent culture of excellence and providing opportunities for personal growth, ACES coaches aim to instill values that will serve their players well in all aspects of life.
Key Elements of the ACES Approach:
- Consistent leadership culture across all teams
- Focus on character development alongside athletic skills
- Providing opportunities for personal growth and leadership
- Fostering a sense of community and belonging
This holistic approach to youth development has made the Sacramento ACES a respected name not just in lacrosse circles, but in the broader community as well.
The ACES Coaching Advantage: Experience Meets Passion
The caliber of coaches attracted to the Sacramento ACES program is truly remarkable. But what draws such accomplished individuals to youth coaching? For many, it’s an opportunity to give back to the sport they love and shape the next generation of players.
Take Frank Resetarits, for example. A former Division I All-American, professional player, and current head coach of the UC Davis Men’s team, Resetarits brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the ACES program. His coaching philosophy aligns perfectly with the ACES approach, focusing on player development and creating a positive, competitive environment.

Developing Complete Athletes: The ACES Training Approach
How does the Sacramento ACES program structure its training to maximize player development? The key lies in a comprehensive approach that addresses all aspects of the game.
ACES coaches recognize that successful lacrosse players need more than just stick skills. They focus on developing well-rounded athletes with strong fundamentals, tactical understanding, and mental toughness.
Components of ACES Training:
- Fundamental skill development (shooting, passing, catching, dodging)
- Positional-specific training
- Tactical awareness and game IQ
- Physical conditioning and athleticism
- Mental preparation and resilience
This multifaceted approach ensures that ACES players are prepared for success at all levels of the game, from youth leagues to high school and beyond.
The ACES Community: Building Lasting Connections
What makes the Sacramento ACES more than just a sports program? It’s the sense of community and belonging fostered by the organization. The ACES experience extends far beyond practices and games, creating a network of support for players and families alike.
This community-centric approach is evident in the number of former players who return to coach with the program. These alumni serve as powerful role models, demonstrating the long-term impact of the ACES experience.
Fostering Community Through Lacrosse:
- Alumni involvement in coaching and mentoring
- Team-building activities and events
- Parent education and involvement opportunities
- Connections to collegiate and professional lacrosse networks
By creating this supportive ecosystem, the Sacramento ACES ensure that the benefits of participation extend far beyond the lacrosse field.
ACES Success Stories: From Sacramento to the National Stage
The true measure of any youth sports program is the success of its athletes. How have Sacramento ACES players fared as they’ve progressed in their lacrosse careers?
While individual achievements vary, the ACES program has consistently produced players who excel at the high school, collegiate, and even professional levels. Many ACES alumni have gone on to play for top NCAA programs, with some achieving All-American honors and professional contracts.

Coaching Staff – ACES Lacrosse
Over the past nine years the Sacramento ACES have assembled the premier coaching staff in the Sacramento Valley. Harkening back to their own prior experiences as players, ACES coaches focus on creating a fun, competitive environment that promotes development over “x’s and o’s”. We feel players learn more through reps and activity than standing and watching.
