How does the Warrior Nemesis 3 Goalie Lacrosse Head compare to its predecessors. What are the key features that make it stand out in the market. Is it suitable for all skill levels or better for experienced players.
Evolution of Warrior’s Goalie Heads: From Lyte to Nemesis 3
The Warrior Nemesis 3 Goalie Lacrosse Head represents the latest iteration in Warrior’s line of goalie heads. To understand its significance, we need to trace the evolution from its predecessors:
- Warrior Lyte
- Warrior Nemesis
- Warrior Nemesis 2
- Warrior Nemesis 3
Each version has brought improvements, with the Nemesis 3 building upon the success of the Nemesis 2. The Nemesis 2 gained popularity among Major League Lacrosse (MLL) professionals, setting high expectations for its successor.
Weight and Design: Balancing Performance and Control
The weight of a goalie head significantly impacts performance. How does the Nemesis 3 compare to its predecessors and competitors?
- Warrior Nemesis: 13.2 oz (374 g)
- Warrior Nemesis 2: 12.4 oz (352 g)
- STX Eclipse: 11.3 oz (320 g)
While the exact weight of the Nemesis 3 is not provided, it’s likely that Warrior has continued to optimize the balance between weight and durability. The weight difference, though seemingly small, can significantly affect a goalie’s reaction time and stick control.
SYMRail Twist Technology
The Nemesis 3 likely incorporates an improved version of the SYMRail Twist Technology found in the Nemesis 2. This innovative design hollows out the sidewalls to reduce weight without compromising stiffness or durability. The result is a head that offers both quick responsiveness and the ability to withstand high-velocity shots.
Face Shape and Save Surface: Optimizing for Maximum Coverage
The face shape of a goalie head is crucial for maximizing save potential. How does the Nemesis 3 approach this design challenge?
The Nemesis 2 featured a bowl-like shape, slightly wider at its broadest point compared to the STX Eclipse, but with a more triangular form and a narrower bottom. This design created a unique save surface that balances coverage with quick stick movement.
The Nemesis 3 likely refines this shape further, potentially offering:
- Improved flared sidewalls for better shot channeling
- Optimized face shape for increased save surface area
- Enhanced balance between width and triangular form
Stringing Options: Customization for Every Playing Style
Stringing options play a crucial role in a goalie’s ability to customize their stick to their playing style. The Nemesis 2 offered 20 well-placed sidewall holes, a significant improvement over its predecessor’s 13. How does the Nemesis 3 build on this?
It’s likely that the Nemesis 3 maintains or even increases the number of stringing holes, potentially offering:
- More than 20 strategically placed sidewall holes
- Enhanced options for creating tighter channels
- Improved customization potential for various stringing patterns
This level of customization allows goalies and stick stringers to create a pocket that perfectly complements individual playing styles and preferences.
Durability and Stiffness: Built for Elite-Level Play
One of the standout features of the Nemesis line has been its durability and stiffness, particularly evident in the Nemesis 2. How does the Nemesis 3 continue this tradition?
The Nemesis 3 likely maintains or improves upon the stiffness of its predecessor, making it ideal for goalies facing high-velocity shots. This stiffness provides several advantages:
- Reduced flex on corner shots, preventing goals on deflections
- Ability to withstand repeated impacts from 90+ mph shots
- Longevity and consistent performance over time
These characteristics make the Nemesis 3 particularly suitable for elite-level play, including MLL, NCAA, and top club competitions.
Ground Ball Performance and Outlet Passes
While the primary function of a goalie head is shot-stopping, its performance in other aspects of play is crucial. How does the Nemesis 3 handle ground balls and outlet passes?
Based on the characteristics of the Nemesis 2, we can infer that the Nemesis 3 likely offers:
- A slightly thicker top plastic compared to competitors like the STX Eclipse
- Potential trade-off between ground ball scooping ease and durability
- Excellent performance for strong, accurate outlet passes
The rounded top plastic design, a feature of the Nemesis line, contributes to superior throwing capabilities, making the Nemesis 3 an excellent choice for goalies who prioritize quick transitions and precise clearing passes.
Price Point and Value Proposition
As a high-end goalie head, the Warrior Nemesis 3 is positioned at a premium price point. Is it worth the investment?
When considering the value of the Nemesis 3, take into account:
- Durability and longevity, potentially reducing long-term costs
- Performance benefits for elite-level play
- Versatility in stringing options and customization
For serious players, particularly those competing at high levels or facing powerful shooters, the Nemesis 3’s performance features may justify its price. However, younger or recreational players might find more value in lighter, less expensive options.
Comparing the Nemesis 3 to Other Top Goalie Heads
To truly understand the Nemesis 3’s place in the market, it’s essential to compare it to other leading goalie heads. How does it stack up against competitors?
Nemesis 3 vs. STX Eclipse
- Weight: Nemesis likely heavier but more durable
- Face Shape: Nemesis offers a more bowl-like shape compared to Eclipse’s oval
- Stiffness: Nemesis provides superior stiffness for high-velocity shots
- Ground Balls: Eclipse may have a slight edge due to thinner top plastic
Nemesis 3 vs. Brine Eraser
- Stringing Options: Nemesis likely offers more customization
- Durability: Both known for durability, but Nemesis may have an edge
- Face Shape: Eraser has a unique offset design, while Nemesis focuses on bowl shape
Nemesis 3 vs. StringKing Mark 2G
- Weight: Mark 2G known for lightweight design, may be lighter than Nemesis 3
- Stiffness: Nemesis likely offers superior stiffness
- Price: Mark 2G often priced lower, making it attractive for budget-conscious players
These comparisons highlight the Nemesis 3’s strengths in durability, stiffness, and customization, particularly for high-level play. However, players should consider their specific needs and playing style when choosing between these top-tier options.
Ideal Player Profile for the Warrior Nemesis 3
Understanding who benefits most from the Nemesis 3’s features is crucial for potential buyers. What type of goalie is the ideal user of this head?
The Warrior Nemesis 3 is best suited for:
- Elite-level goalies facing high-velocity shots (90+ mph)
- Players competing in MLL, NCAA, or top club levels
- Goalies who prioritize durability and consistent performance
- Those who value customization and varied stringing options
- Players willing to adapt to a slightly heavier head for increased stiffness
Conversely, the Nemesis 3 might not be the best choice for:
- Youth or beginner goalies still developing fundamental skills
- Players on a tight budget who don’t require elite-level performance
- Goalies who strongly prefer the lightest possible head
Understanding these profiles can help players and coaches make informed decisions about whether the Nemesis 3 is the right choice for their specific situation and goals.
Maintenance and Care for Longevity
To maximize the value and performance of the Warrior Nemesis 3, proper maintenance is essential. What are the best practices for caring for this goalie head?
- Regular Cleaning: Rinse with cool water after each use to remove dirt and sweat
- Proper Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
- String Maintenance: Regularly check and adjust strings to maintain optimal pocket shape
- Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Don’t leave in hot cars or freezing conditions
- Impact Protection: Use a head cover when transporting to prevent accidental impacts
By following these maintenance tips, goalies can ensure their Nemesis 3 maintains its performance characteristics and durability over time, maximizing their investment in this high-end equipment.
The Future of Goalie Head Design: What’s Next After the Nemesis 3?
As lacrosse equipment continues to evolve, what trends might we see in future goalie head designs? The Warrior Nemesis 3 provides clues about potential developments:
- Further weight reduction without compromising stiffness
- Advanced materials that offer better impact resistance
- Improved aerodynamics for faster stick movement
- Enhanced customization options, possibly including modular components
- Integration of smart technology for performance tracking
While these innovations are speculative, they represent logical progressions based on current trends in sports equipment design. The Nemesis 3 serves as a benchmark against which future developments will be measured.
In conclusion, the Warrior Nemesis 3 Goalie Lacrosse Head builds upon a strong legacy, offering elite-level performance for serious players. Its combination of durability, stiffness, and customization options make it a top choice for goalies facing high-velocity shots. While it may not be the ideal choice for every player, those competing at high levels will likely find it to be a valuable tool in their arsenal. As with any equipment choice, players should consider their individual needs, playing style, and level of competition when deciding if the Nemesis 3 is the right fit for them.
Warrior Nemesis 2 Goalie Head Review
In this post I’m continuing our series of reviewing various pieces of lacrosse goalie gear. Next up is the Warrior Nemesis 2 review.
In case you’ve missed the previous gear reviews you can check them out here:
The Warrior Nemesis 2 is the newest item in Warrior’s line of goalie heads. It’s the 3rd goalie head they’ve produced and definitely an improvement over both of its predecessors – Warrior Lyte and Warrior Nemesis.
If you look at the goalie stick setup of the MLL pros you’ll realize that the Warrior Nemesis 2 is by far the most popular goalie head at the professional level.
Overall, its an excellent goalie head but one that’s more suited for more experienced goalies, in my opinion.
Similar to the STX Eclipse goalie head review that I did, let’s take a look at the Warrior Nemesis 2 in terms of shape and weight, flexibility, durability, and price.
The Warrior Nemesis 2 weighs in at 12. 4 oz (352 g) when unstrung.
While Warrior did shave off some weight from the original Warrior Nemesis (13.2 oz), the Nemesis 2 is still a little on the heavier side especially when compared to the STX Eclipse weighing in at 11.3 oz (320 g).
2 oz (32 g) might not sound like a lot of weight but trust me it does affect the feel of stick. Just like baseball players can feel the difference between a 32oz and a 34oz bat, you’ll definitely notice the difference in weight when using it to make your saves.
The Warrior Nemesis 2 has a different face shape than the STX Eclipse. Here they are side by side –
The shape of the Nemesis 2 is more of a bowl shape than its Eclipse competitor. As you can see in the comparison above the Nemesis 2 is slightly bigger at its widest point but then is much more triangular in shape with a narrower bottom of the stick. The Eclipse has a more oval like shape.
Overall, the Eclipse has a larger save surface area than the Nemesis 2.
The sidewalls of the Nemesis 2 have a flared design which helps corral shots into the net of the stick.
The Warrior Nemesis 2 features SYMRail Twist Technology. This essential means that the sidewalls are hollowed out in a way that cuts down on the overall weight of the head, but does not do anything to compromise the stiffness and durability which I’ll dig into later.
Here are the measurements of the STX Eclipse and Warrior Nemesis 2 side by side –
The Nemesis 2 does have a good face shape, albeit slightly smaller overall surface area than the Eclipse due the narrower bottom of the face.
The flared sidewall of the Nemesis 2 allows for a lot of surface area to make saves and get that extra piece of plastic on the shot that can deflect a ball from the net.
The Nemesis 2 is also a breeze for stringers. It comes with 20 well placed, sidewall holes that offer many different options in stringing up your head. This beats out the 13 of the old Nemesis 1 and puts the Nemesis 2 above, or at least similar to the sidewalls of many of the other popular goalie heads.
The face shape allows for tighter channels to be formed, and is extremely customizable in that your local stick ninja can string up the Nemesis 2 to your exact specifications.
This is an area where the Nemesis 2 outperforms the STX Eclipse – durability and stiffness.
The additional weight of the head translates into durability as the Warrior Nemesis 2 is an extremely durable goalie head.
The Nemesis 2 has a great stiffness, preventing a shot from bending back the plastic and going into the net. I believe this is the reason its favored by the MLL goalies and the top NCAA goalies who constantly face shots above 90 mph.
The STX Eclipse simply does not have the stiffness of the Nemesis 2. Shots that hit the corner of the Eclipse often find their way into the goal as the head bends and gives way. This isn’t the case with the Nemesis 2 which has the stiffness to stop the shots that hit the corner of the stick.
For this reason I recommend the Nemesis 2 over the STX Eclipse for goalies who are facing elite shooters like those at the MLL, college, and top club levels.
Or for goalies who simply cannot tolerate getting a stick on the ball and still having it go in the goal. This is one of the more frustrating moments for a goalie and if you can’t stand this situation, select a stiffer head like the Nemesis 2.
Since the top plastic of the Warrior Nemesis 2 is a little thicker than the STX Eclipse I’d give the edge in scooping ground balls to the STX Eclipse which features a very thin top plastic.
The rounded top plastic of the Nemesis 2 does create strong outlet passes. I prefer throwing with the Nemesis 2 versus any other goalie head I’ve used.
The stiffness and durability mean that the head will last. If you’re a parent concerned about the durability of your little goalie’s stick then go with the Nemesis 2 even though its heavier than the Eclipse, that heaviness translates into durability.
Additionally if you’re one of those goalies who plays their games in extreme weather (cold of the northeast or the heat of Arizona for example) you might favor the durability of the Nemesis 2 since it won’t get as brittle in extreme weather like the Eclipse tends to do.
Through snow, mud, heat, and rain you’ll notice that the Nemesis 2 keeps its shape.
The Warrior Nemesis 2 typically goes for about $100, however you can currently get the white version on Amazon for just $72.15 (oops, this deal is over – the head is back to the $100 price).
This is a great deal and puts in the Warrior Nemesis 2 in the same price range as the STX Eclipse.
Not sure how much longer that deal will last as the Nemesis 2 typically sells for $100.
The Nemesis 2 also comes in a variety of colors but these versions will cost you the full price.
Even at the $100 price point I still think the Nemesis is a good deal compared to other heads at that price range like the STX Shield.
Although that initial price may be higher, the Nemesis 2 will be a great investment due to how long it will last.
Here is Greg from East Coast Dyes giving his review of the Warrior Nemesis 2 goalie head:
com/embed/WceNTDNj5i0″ frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen=”allowfullscreen”/>
Here is Mike from Total Lacrosse giving a Warrior Nemesis 2 goalie head review:
I prefer to get my lacrosse goalie gear from the online vendors vs. brick & mortar stores as they typically can offer the better deals.
Buy the Warrior Nemesis 2 unstrung on Amazon.com
If you’re in the market for a used Warrior Nemesis 2 or complete stick then check your local Craigslist under Sporting goods.
I do NOT recommend buying the pre-strung Warrior Nemesis 2 complete heads from Amazon. You’re not going to get a quality string job.
Much better to buy the unstrung head and learn how to string it yourself or have a local stick ninja do it for you.
Note: These are affiliate links so I’ll make a few pennies if you decide to buy through these links. No pressure of course and if you’ve enjoyed the articles here on Lax Goalie Rat feel free to support me buy making a purchase through these links.
Overall, I think the Warrior Nemesis 2 is a great goalie head and an extreme improvement over the previous Warrior goalie heads like the Nemesis 1 and the Lyte.
For those considering the choice between the Eclipse and Nemesis 2 I don’t think you’re going to go wrong either way. It’s really going to come down to your personal preference.
However if you’re looking for a little more stiffness and durability, go with the Nemesis 2. If you’re looking for a slightly larger surface area and a lighter goalie head, go with the Eclipse.
I typically recommend the Eclipse for younger players and the Nemesis 2 for more experienced players who have to face higher velocity shots.
For what its worth I also think the Warrior Nemesis 2 is aesthetically beautiful. I think the stick visually looks the best out of any lacrosse goalie head. So if that’s the tipping point for you, there you go.
Pros:
- Great stiffness
- Flared sidewalls channel shots into the stick
- Fully customizable stringing options
- Great with outlet passes
- Best durability
Cons:
- Smaller surface area
- Heavier
Until next time! Coach Damon

90,000 Sensational find – a Roman well in a German coal mine (photo) | Germany Information and Travel Tips | DW
Hambach • Usually reports from this place in Germany, located near Cologne, appear in the German press in connection with the actions of opponents of mining here brown coal. Someone defended and defends the local Hambakh forest, which was threatened with deforestation due to the expansion of this quarry; someone is trying to save the villages, which will disappear for the same reason; some are trying to speed up the phase-out of the use of brown coal in Germany as a fuel for power plants. Even Greta Thunberg herself came here a year ago. However, this week archaeological news came from the Hambach quarry – moreover, sensational, according to the Office for the Protection of Archaeological Sites of the Rhineland.
Location where the well was found. Large volumes of coal will be mined in this quarry until the end of 2022. In 2029, the quarry will begin to be filled with water to create a huge artificial lake
Ancient Roman well near Cologne
In preparation for the last expansion of the quarry, an ancient Roman well was discovered here, which, according to experts, was located on the territory of a Roman rural courtyard – one of the numerous farms that supplied food to the Roman troops in the garrisons and settlements on the Lower Rhine, the number of which at that time reached 30 thousand people.Neighboring Cologne, one of the oldest German cities, for example, was founded by the ancient Romans. Such finds have already happened on the territory of a coal mine, but this one really surprised scientists.
Fragment of Jupiter’s column in the well
A stone well of about 15 meters depth was dedicated to the main ancient Roman god – Jupiter, which is not surprising. The well was decorated with a 5-meter column, on which he actually sat on his throne. Based on the analysis of the found fragments of wood, fragments of pottery and several coins, scientists concluded that the well was used approximately between the 2nd and 5th centuries AD.
The fifth century is a very late period, since in these places the process of Christianization was already underway and Christian churches were being built. Most of these wells were used here by the Romans until around the third century AD.
The lower part of the sculpture of Jupiter, which was on the column
Jupiter and three goddesses
The Jupiter column was found in a well, that is, it was thrown there – presumably during the fight against idols or during the attack of one of the Germanic tribes. It is now under restoration in Bonn.
The column was divided into ten large parts. Actually, only the throne and the lower part of the body remained from Jupiter, but at the same time the images of the three goddesses, which also adorned the well, or rather the column, were well preserved. This neighborhood for scientists is the sensation.
Fragments of the column are taken out of the quarry for further transportation to Bonn
Nemesis Diana – two goddesses in one cult
These are bas-reliefs of the wife of Jupiter, the goddess of motherhood and marriage, Juno; the ancient Roman goddess of wisdom and war – Minerva; and also, as archaeologists suggest, the so-called nemesis of Diana – a merged image of two goddesses.
The ancient Greek goddess of just retribution Nemesis was revered in the Roman army and was considered the patroness of gladiators. Diana in Roman mythology is the goddess of flora and fauna, hunting, femininity and fertility. At the same time, scientists have not yet met any evidence of the cult of Diana’s nemesis in the Rhineland, and in the territories of the entire former Roman Empire, images of Diana’s nemesis are extremely rare.

Criteria and signs
Which city is the oldest in Germany? Historians cannot give an unequivocal answer to this question, since it depends on many criteria – to take them into account or not, archaeological finds and other facts. In any case, such cities had to have a centralized structure and power, provide themselves with everything they need – food and water, as well as have clear territorial boundaries.

Nemesis / Tom Tresser
Dark messenger of justice, Nemesis is a very intelligent and resourceful person, a true master of disguise and an inventor who uses his abilities to balance the scales of justice.
Origin
Tom and Craig are the sons of Chet Tresser, a friend of Ben Marshall, a field agent of the largest law enforcement agency in America. Tom and Craig idolized Ben, who was promoted to an administrative position. Although both brothers wanted to become agents when they grew up, although Tom also contemplated becoming an actor, he later decided that he would join the diplomatic corps and even learned Russian (and possibly literary Arabic) to do so.When their father died of a heart attack, the brothers asked Ben if they could join the agency. The brothers received extensive training, but only Craig became a field agent, and Tom, although he was also good, showed the ability of an inventor and was assigned to the special equipment department. While working there, he received high marks for ingenuity and creativity. It was there that he developed his signature devices: realistic masks and Mercy Bullets. Suddenly, angered by Ben’s promotion to Bureau Director, Craig kills Ben during a promotion ceremony and is killed by other agents. Tom remained the last living member of the Tresser clan and was despised by everyone, both agents and ordinary people. The last name Tresser was disgraced. Tom knew he had to bury his past, and by breaking into the bureau’s main computer, he made it look like Thomas Tresser never existed. He chose the nickname Nemesis because it meant the one who justly punishes a crime, the name of justice and retribution. He became Nemesis to honor Ben’s memory and continue his work, as well as try to balance the scales of justice.Tom kept an unbalanced scale with a weight marked “Ben Marshal” on one of the bowls as a reminder.
Fighting the Council
Nemesis learned that Craig had been infiltrated by Jack Vanders, a subordinate of Jay Kingston, one of the leaders of an organization called The Council, which governs organized crime throughout the United States. Wanders learned that Craig was an embedded agent and told Kingston, who reported to The Head of the Council.Craig was captured and sent to the Chapter in Gotham City, whose former Nazi scientist Otto von Riebling had his mind washed to kill Ben. During a Council meeting, Nemesis steals papers from their activities. The investigation led Tom to Gotham, where he first teamed up with Batman. They hunt down von Ribeling, and Nemesis, posing as von Ribeling’s missing brother, tried to get close to him, but Otto easily reveals his disguise. Otto destroys his laboratory and escapes.Ben’s widow, Marjorie, was kidnapped to force Tom to surrender. Tom decides to surrender while Batman watches over him. Nemesis learns that the Head wanted Ben dead, because he injured him, as a result of which he was confined to a respirator. The Council attempts to brainwash Nemesis into killing Batman, but manages to escape. Nemesis tried to kill the Head, but Batman and Marjorie do not allow him to do this, however, the Head dies at the hands of the mortally wounded von Ribling, betrayed by the Head.
Nemesis infiltrates a meeting of the heads of various sections of the Council, and steals papers relating to their activities. Using the stolen papers, Nemesis disrupts the operations of M. C. Curtis, one of the leaders of the Council. During a Las Vegas affair, he saves the life of Valerie Foxworth, who wanted to kill Curtis because his casino fraud led to her father’s suicide. Later in Los Angeles, Nemesis and Valerie arrange for Curtis to be arrested by the police.Nemesis travels to London, where she tries to uncover the plans of Noel Chesterton, a member of the Council in charge of the organization’s international affairs. During the investigation, he learns that Valerie, who came to help Tom, has been captured. Tom easily saves her, and also calculates that Chesterton is plotting to kidnap the Queen of England. However, he manages to thwart Chesterton’s plans, with the support of Valerie and Scotland Yard inspector Michael Boches. When Nemesis tried to gather information on the head of the Council’s East Coast branch, Samuel Solomon, he was trapped and captured.Samuel wanted Nemesis to get rid of the rest of the Council, with the result that he would take the leading position in the organization. Nemesis was forced to agree to do the job as he was implanted with a device that, when activated, would cause Tom to have a heart attack. Nemesis manages to fake his death and get rid of the stimulant, and then Solomon, by installing the device on Solomon and forcing him to activate it. Nemesis learns that the remaining members of the council have hired an assassin known as the Gray Fox, and while Nemesis is trying to find information about the assassin, he manages to track him down through a helicopter previously stolen from the council.Nemesis nearly dies in an ambush set up by the Gray Fox, but is saved by the intervention of the mechanic Barney Forrest, who is captured by the Fox people. As a result of the ensuing firefight, Fox is killed in a helicopter explosion. Using Solomon’s documents, Nemesis decides to get close to Jay Kingston, the head of the southeast branch of the Council, under the guise of his lawyer, but Kingston reveals him, and Tom barely escapes due to a wound sustained during a confrontation with the Gray Fox. Kingston kidnaps Marjorie to lure Nemesis into a trap.Nemesis infiltrates the Kingston estate, and, overcoming deadly traps and guards, gets to Marjorie, and with her escapes in a helicopter piloted by Valerie. The next day, Nemesis learns that Kingston has been killed, and deciding that Leonard Maddox, the head of the southern branch of the Council and Kingston’s rival, is behind the murder, goes to Maddox under the guise of one of Kingston’s men and throws a bug. Thanks to the bug, Nemesis learns that Maddox wants to get rid of the man who killed Kingston.Nemesis saves his life, and arranges everything so that he is arrested, and he reveals that he was hired by Maddox and that he is also arrested. Posing as the familiar actor Irene Scarfield, the head of the Council’s midwestern branch and the last remaining member, Nemesis decides to get close to her and find out everything possible about Operation: Overkill. The council is helping to launch terrorist attacks across the country, in exchange for the terrorists killing Senator Thomas White, a friend of Ben Marshall, who is preparing a bill to introduce new measures to combat crime. Seeing the full scale of the Council’s plans, Nemesis asks Batman for help by contacting Bruce Wayne disguised as Alfred Pennyworth. Batman and Nemesis disrupt the supply of weapons for the terrorists, and while Batman tracks down the terrorists, Nemesis manages to track Irene to a secret base on the Potomac River. Upon learning that the Council wants to use a radio-controlled helicopter packed with explosives to kill the Senator, if the terrorist attack fails, Nemesis tries to thwart them.He climbs into the helicopter to prevent him from blowing up the Senator. Realizing that he cannot take control, Nemesis blows through the roof and a propeller and helicopter crashes into the Council headquarters, killing the last leader of the Council, Irene Scarfield. Arriving at the scene, Batman finds only a piece of clothing with the emblem of Nemesis and decides that he is dead. In memory of Tom, Batman places a weight marked “Nemesis” on the second bowl of Tresser’s weight.
Suicide Squad
Nemesis survives a catastrophe thanks to a fluke. After being nearly pierced by a wreck of a helicopter, he lost consciousness and fell into the water, and when he washed ashore he was found by government agents who knew him as Thomas Tresser. Nemesis lost a lot of blood and his wounds were infected. His recovery was long and slow, but the federal government paid for his treatment. Long-term medical care is what Amanda Waller used to convince Nemesis to join the Suicide Squad, and she also convinced him that by working with her, he was helping balance the scales of Justice.A man of honor, Nemesis felt he should join the Suicide Squad and became one of the few Squad members who weren’t criminals. Tresser agreed to work with the Troop until he felt that his debt to the government had been paid and the scales were balanced. Nemesis’ stealth and disguise skills have proven to be very important to many of the Squad’s missions.
When the Suicide Squad was preparing to strike at the Quarac terrorist organization Jihad, Nemesis and Nightshade were tasked with infiltrating the ranks of the terrorists. Nemesis disguised himself as Colonel Mushtaq, a veteran terrorist who was hired by President Kwarak as a consultant and security specialist. The Quarks did not know that the real Mushtak had died in a shootout three months earlier. When the tactical operation began, Nemesis proved even more useful than planned, as a member of the Plastique Squad contacted Mushtaq to side with the Jihad, and Nemesis, although not immediately, neutralized her.
When the Female Furies attacked Belle Reve prison in an attempt to get Godfrey out, Nemesis tried to stop Lashina from taking Godfrey out, but she quickly neutralized him.
While working with the Suicide Squad, Nemesis fell in love with a member of the Nightshadow Squad. Although she had some feelings for him, they never really started a relationship as she was more attracted to Rick Flag.
He soon became involved in a mission to rescue Zoya Trigorin. To get to Zoe, Nemesis disguised himself as a doctor sent from Moscow to the hospital where she was being held. As it turned out, she did not want this, but wanted to become a political martyr. The mission did not go according to plan when the Enchantress lost control of herself. For cover, the detachment captured tourists in a Moscow hotel, and when, in order to prevent the disclosure of their new cover, Deadshot, having conspired with the Penguin, decided to kill people, but Nemesis disarms him and says that he will guard the tourists, giving time for the others to leave, and then using your skills to get out. To Flag’s statement that he would not allow the squad members to sacrifice themselves, Nemesis replied that then he would immediately leave the squad.Nemesis did this partly to pay off a debt to the government, partly out of sympathy for some of the Squad, especially Nightshadow. Nemesis is captured by the People’s Heroes and Truth, using his powers, learns from him about the Squad’s plans. Zoya was badly wounded during a helicopter attack and died in the arms of Nemesis, who tried to save her. Nemesis was eventually arrested by the arriving troops. The Soviets made a big splash over the capture of Nemesis, hoping to lure in more American agents.Rick Flag and Nightshadow, along with the Suicide Squad, organized an unauthorized rescue mission and even came into conflict with Justice League International, which intervened at the request of the President of the United States. In the end, the two teams managed to resolve their differences, and the League placed Nemesis in a cell in its Russian embassy to “investigate”, realizing that Nemesis would “flee” a few days later, thus defusing the international situation.
A few months later, Nemesis returned to the Force, feeling that he must repay Flag for his salvation. He was on a mission to capture Flag when he decided to assassinate Derek Tolliver and Senator Joe Cray for the safety of the Suicide Squad. Nemesis learns from her informants that Flag managed to kill Tolliver, and informs the Bronze Tiger, who orders Tom to focus on finding Cray.
Soon, Flag went missing during the mission, and Waller convinced Nemesis to stay with the Party until Rick returned. Nemesis, along with the Squad, assisted the JLI in the attack on the Alien Alliance headquarters in Australia. And later, when the Gene Bomb was detonated, he helped neutralize the Methumans in Belle Reeve, who began to go crazy and lose control of their powers due to the bean.
When the Suicide Squad clashed with the government agency Argent, Nemesis was acting as a target. Disguised as Amanda Waller, he was shot and killed by Silver’s strike team as planned. Waller’s disguise implied that he wore many layers of Kevlar and enough padding to survive the attack without a single scratch. This was the last time Tom helped her, as he was tired of her manipulation and how she used his sense of duty against him, and he left the Squad after publicly quarreling with Waller.
Nemesis has expanded its scope of activities. One of the cases during this period was the complete theft of the identity of corporate raider Jack Sanders, who bought a large company to gut it and sell it piece by piece to evade taxes. Nemesis, posing as a raider, transferred all the company’s assets to its employees, gave all the money to charity, which led to the businessman ending up in a psychiatric hospital.
Meanwhile, the Suicide Squad has discovered that Rick Flag has a son who has been kidnapped by Koschei the Deathless. Nemesis agreed to help, but only because the Nightshadow asked him to. Disguised as Rick Flag, Nemesis went to meet with Koschei. After assessing the situation, Nemesis revealed that he was not Flag and that the real Flag was dead, and, using these facts and Koshchei’s love for Karin Grace, convinced Koshchei, after a little scuffle, to let the boy go.Nemesis escaped with the boy, contacted the task force and everyone got out alive.
Following this Mission, Nemesis and Nightshadow began an affair, although due to the Shadow’s continued work for Waller, they did not meet often.
Later, Nemesis portrayed President Marlo Kwarak at the request of Sarge Steel. He was supposed to be a distraction while in a prison on the Blood Island while the real Marlo was transported to safety. However, he was forced to reveal himself in order to neutralize the two members of the Jihad who had come to rescue Marlo.
Shadow Fighters
Nemesis later joined the Shadow Fighters fighting the Eclipso. But he was very suspicious, since the group was led by Amanda Waller. However, given the threat posed by Eclipso, he worked closely with Waller and her team. Waller’s plan again envisaged the introduction of Nemesis into the ranks of the enemy and his disinformation. He made a fake tape showing the Shadow Fighters’ unpreparedness and delivered it to Eclipso, then disarmed the security system. He was then believed to be the only survivor of the Shadow Fighters after Eclipso’s massacre. He only managed to rescue Bruce Gordon and Mona Bennett by pretending to come under Eclipso’s control and recalling the Guzmans, a couple of Eclipso’s slaves. Nemesis convinced the Shadow to move them and Professor Bennett to the site of the massacre in order to retrieve the bodies of the dead. Nemesis and Chunk were rescued by Nightshade from a nuclear missile launched by Eclipso. He then took part in the final attack on Eclipso.
New dog tricks
Soon, looking for a CBI agent he knows, he turns to Catwoman to teach him how to steal. He needed it in order to infiltrate the same people as the missing agent. After one of the cases, Nemesis and Catwoman had a fight and She left. Nemesis went to Mr. Stone, where after being checked, he stayed with Agent Benton. Benton admits that he betrayed the CBR and a fight ensues between them.Stone’s bodyguards that appear are neutralized by the returning Cat. But then a shot is heard, and the cat notices Tom wounded in the stomach. Selina reveals her name to him and confesses that he is her only friend. Tom also admits that she is his only friend. Tom dies in the arms of Selina, and she tells everything, as if Benton is a double agent and he is being killed.
It was later revealed that Nemesis is in good order, and he portrayed Sarge Steel, working for some secret organization. It was later revealed that Sergeant Rock (Sgt. Rock), who led the Suicide Squad at the time, was actually an impostor, and perhaps it was also Nemesis.
One year later
A year after the Infinite Crisis, Nemesis became part of the newly reopened Department of Metahuman Affairs under the direction of Sarge Steele. He became a partner to Agent Diana Prince, who was actually Wonder Woman, and together they tried to save Donna Troy from the combined Cheetah, Giganta and Doctor Psycho). After a briefing at the D.O.M.A. headquarters, Nemesis sets out on his own in search of Wonder Woman. Nemesis is lightly wounded during the attack by the villains looking for the real Wonder Woman, and after the attack asks Diana to tell everything she knows about Hercules. Tom and Diana decide to face Hercules, but are ambushed by Circe, who transforms Nemesis into one of her Beastiamorphs. After Circe abducted the powers of Diana, Donna, and Cassie Sandsmark, Nemesis returned to human form, and later attended a briefing on Circe’s activities. When Wonder Woman was nearly defeated by many of her opponents, Nemesis arrived to help her along with other superheroes.
Attack of the Amazons
When Diana returned to her role as Wonder Woman and officially announced it, Nemesis and Diana were tasked with keeping an eye on Wonder Woman. Diana and Tom’s next assignment was to guard the new Maxi-Man, and when he was knocked out by a piece of broken roller coaster, Tom took him to safety. When they returned to headquarters, they received a new order to find Wonder Woman and bring her to DDM for questioning regarding the death of Max Lord.Later, Nemesis was kidnapped and tortured by Circe. Wonder Woman managed to save Nemesis and then heal his wounds. Nemesis said that he would like to work with her, and to Diana’s surprised question that he should arrest her, Tom replied, “I don’t always do what I’m told. Especially when I feel that they don’t tell me everything. ” Nemesis speculated that Circe might be hiding in the bar next to which he was kidnapped, and after Circe escaped again, Sarge Steele appeared and arrested Wonder Woman, thanking Tom for helping her capture. It turned out that DDM was following him thanks to a chip in his uniform. Nemesis, knowing that something was wrong with Wonder Woman, disobeyed orders and rescued her after beating and tying up several agents. During this salvation, it became clear that both of them were attracted to each other.
When the Amazons attacked Washington, Nemesis accompanied Wonder Woman to meet her resurrected mother. While the two Amazons were talking, DDM agents arrived, and Nemesis, already suspecting that Sarge had been replaced, asked several questions, and, making sure that the doppelganger was in front of him, used a smoke screen to reincarnate as Sarge.Later, in the interrogation DDM, Nemesis reveals a double, who turns out to be the Everyman. Nemesis tries to coordinate with the Justice League, informing Batman of the situation. Nemesis also discovers that a nuclear missile is targeting Themyscira, and he tries to find Wonder Woman to inform her about it. Seeing Circe, and realizes that it is she who is behind the attack of the Amazons. From Diana, Tom learns that Circe gave the Amazons some kind of weapon, and Nemesis, first stealing the key from Queen Hippolyta, and then reincarnating into her, obtains a chest with weapons, which turn out to be Stygian Killer Hornets ).Due to the intervention of the real Hippolyta, the chest is accidentally opened and the Bumblebees are free, and Nemesis becomes their first victim. Wonder Woman risked her life to travel to Temeskira to find an antidote and heal Nemesis. Nemesis left the hospital early, despite the objections of the doctor, and, after tracking down the All-Man, freed the real Sarge Steel.
Further Adventures
Some time later, Tom organized a birthday party for Diana at the DDM headquarters.Later, during a mission to verify information about Gorilla Grodd, Tom and Diana encountered Captain Nazi. As a result of the scuffle, Tom ended up in the hospital with a minor concussion. While he was recuperating, Wonder Woman began courting Tresser in the traditional Amazonian fashion. And then she offered to make their relationship more serious by performing a small Amazonian ritual called Bond of Consideration. After recovering, Sarge Steele tells Tom that he considers Diana Prince and Etta Candy to be the spies of the Amazons, and asks Tom to keep an eye on them, especially Diana, as he believes she has something to do with Grodd. While observing Diana’s apartment, Tom notices one of the Gorilla Knights, and, deciding that Grodd and Diana are in danger, Tom breaks into Diana’s apartment. Due to a mutual misunderstanding between them, a fight ensues, during which Tom calls for help until Donno Troy arrives. When the DDM agents arrive, Nemesis informs them that this was a false alarm, but it had a side effect, as Steele began to consider Tom an agent of the Amazons. After an official meeting with Queen Hippolyta, Diana’s mother, and a short conversation with her, he was accepted into the ranks of the Amazons, despite the fact that he is a man.He received the title Sir Thomas of Cleveland and the rank of Guardsman, as well as a spear specially made by Hippolyta for his arm. He spent some time on Temeskira with Diana and began to appreciate the land and culture of the Amazons. Upon learning that Nemesis was close to Wonder Woman, Sarge orders his arrest, but he quickly escapes. When he arrived at the scene of the battle, he saw that Wonder Woman had nearly died at the hands of a creature named Gnocide. As a warrior of the Amazons, Nemesis took part in the battle to recover the lasso stolen by the Genocide, he fought alongside the Gorilla Knights, Donna Troy, Cassie Sandsmark and Wonder Woman.Nemesis ended up in the hospital again due to this battle, where he was visited by Hippolyta, who told the story of Diana’s origin. Nemesis teamed up with the repentant villain T. O. Morrow, and tried to get rid of the Genocide using weapons developed by the Secret Society of Super-Villains scientist Amos Fortune. Their attack did not work, and the helicopter that Tom and Morrow were in was shot down by the Genocide. She grabbed Nemesis and asked if Wonder Woman really loved Tom? The Amazon was forced to answer in the negative, although she was attracted to Tom, her main desire was to have children. Although he did not know the details, Diana’s negative response broke Tom’s heart. Wonder Woman managed to secure the release of Nemesis, and he survived the battle without further injury. After meeting a few days later, Diana explained what was on her mind – why she was attracted to him, how the Amazons see love, and why she wanted children from him. Tom decided that they would just remain friends, as his dangerous life made him unsuitable for the role of a father.
Aftermath of the Final Crisis: Escape
Nemesis and several other government agents, including Amanda Waller and Cameron Chase, were kidnapped by the Global Peace Agency and placed in Electric City to find out who was suitable to work for them.Determining what was going on was difficult as the GPA guided Tom through a series of checks, some of which were hallucinations involving time travel and / or android doppelgängers. Tom spent what he reckons several months in Electric City, trying hard to figure out what was going on and escape. In the end, he “won” when he partially understood the essence of the Electric City, Buddy Blank, Myron Forrest and their AKOS (OMAC) and, apparently, returned to Earth seconds after his abduction, where he met the GAM agent who turned out to be Cameron Chase, who gave Tom the GAM badge.

After spending months that were not in a place that does not exist, Nemesis resumed his activities, but the experience clearly tormented him. Despite the sophistication of the new Council, Nemesis was able to reach the head of the Council, Senator Andrew Bell, despite the best efforts of the Secret Service. However, Nemesis was intercepted by his superpowered counterpart, who knocked Tom out and publicly killed the Senator, leaving Tom with the murder weapon in hand.
Nemesis ended up in prison, although Batman and Wonder Woman realized there was some kind of conspiracy and Tom was set up. However, Nemesis stated that he would not try to escape. This time he will wait for the conspirators to come to him themselves.
Strength:
None
Abilities:
Master of Disguise: Able to create realistic masks and impersonate other people. With the preparation and the right equipment, he is able to change his appearance to almost any other.
Actor: Able to imitate the personality and mannerisms of the person being portrayed. However, his skills are limited, and therefore he prefers to portray people who speak little, such as butlers, guards, servants, etc. Over time, he improved his skills.
Sharp Mind
Inventor: He created a variety of devices and weapons to help himself, which were usually scaled-down versions of existing devices or were several years superior to available technology.
Superior hand-to-hand combatant and marksman: Nemesis was trained as a field agent by an unnamed law enforcement agency. He also knows various pressure points on the human body, for example, he was able to knock out a doctor with one touch.
Polyglot: Nemesis besides English, knows Russian.
Equipment:
Masks: Nemesis uses realistic masks that can be quickly dissolved with a special chemical sprayed from a device on the collar. However, the disadvantage is that the device can be accidentally activated. The masks are as thin as onion skin and adhere to the skin, repeating the movements of the facial muscles under the mask. Nemesis often wears multiple masks, one under the other.
Cloaking Device: The device allows Nemesis to take on almost any human shape, and can be programmed to resemble the person just seen in a matter of seconds. The device perfectly copies the appearance of an object, including a woman or a gorilla. Most likely, a solid light hologram system is used, since it feels solid when touched.
Scales of Justice: Small Lady Justice figurine with scales in hand, used as a calling card.
EMP Simulator: A small device that simulates EMP. It does not lead to equipment breakdown as with real EMP, but simply turns them off for a few seconds and then reboots. Effective only in close proximity to the target.
Shocker: A device that emits a strong but not fatal charge of electricity in a small area away from the wearer.
Miniature Rebreather: A device that allows you to breathe underwater.
Hidden Jetpack: A small jetpack with enough charge to climb to a safe descent altitude with a parachute.
Wireless Transmitter Tracker: Acts as both a tracking device and an eavesdropping bug.
Echo Reflector: A device that emits sound waves for finding hiding places.
Parachute: Compact parachute hidden in the belt buckle.
Electronic “cover”: A device that turns off security alarms.
Electronic cufflinks: Devices that allow you to change the operation of electronic devices.
Walking cane: A special folding telescopic cane designed to fire various projectiles (darts, smoke capsules).
Harpoon Pistol: A small pistol that fires a cable. Worn in an ankle holster.
Binoculars: Compact binoculars with thermal imaging. There is an augmented reality system that allows you to receive information about the observed target.
Craig V5.2: Craig is a simple web application that can be accessed from anywhere. It is a large database compiled by Nemesis containing various photographs, texts, bank records, archives, and more. The system also has a powerful search engine that searches for patterns and establishes dependencies in a huge amount of seemingly unrelated data. All data in the system is encrypted so strongly that, according to Batman (Dick Grayson), he will need a Batcomputer to decrypt it. It is also connected to the security system of the shelter, and allows activating protection measures.
Specialty Foam: A device that produces a fire-resistant, impact-resistant, chewy foam, but this foam can be easily cut.It is able to withstand a helicopter crash from a low altitude.
Power Bracers: High-tech bracers capable of creating force shields, solid-state holographic copies, and increasing the strength of the wearer. The shields are strong enough to withstand Circe’s magical attacks. Bracers are also capable of opening heportation tunnels.
Walkie-talkie: A small walkie-talkie the size of a wristwatch.
Ice Spray: A special spray that freezes objects and makes them very fragile, which makes it possible, for example, to tear off a wall safe door with your bare hands.
Miniature camera
Weapon:
Pistol .45 caliber: Pistol loaded with special plastic bullets with a fast-acting toxin temporarily paralyzing the target’s nervous system.
Hidden Knife: A small, flat, razor-sharp knife hidden under a patch of artificial leather on the forearm.
Shock Pistol: A pistol that releases an air blast wave capable of stunning a person or, at maximum, piercing a helicopter engine.
Small knife: A small razor-sharp knife attached to the wrist in a special device that throws the knife into the palm of your hand.
Assault Rifle: Unidentified assault rifle, loaded with Mercy Bullets.
Grenades: He uses various types of grenades including frag and smoke grenades, as well as several types of special grenades:
- Sun Grenades: Special grenades that create a flash of bright sunlight were created to combat Eclipso.
- Paralyzing Grenade: Gas Grenade emits a cloud of substance similar to that used in Mercy Bullets.
- Impact Grenade: A grenade that creates a strong shockwave without causing severe harm to humans, even in the event of a nearby explosion.
Explosives: A small charge of C-4 plastic explosive that can be used, for example, to detonate a door lock. He also has a small charge of experimental explosives with a wireless detonator.
LexCorp Model D4: Prototype assault rifle with armor-piercing concussion energy charges. The rifle is equipped with an optical sight.
Transport:
Helicopter: Helicopter stolen from the Council. Nemesis installed a device on it to muffle the noise from the engine and blades, as well as two launchers, which are usually loaded with smoke grenades, although incendiary ones were used on one occasion.
Vehicle: A high-speed vehicle with a mask cache in the dashboard.Changing numbers.
Headquarters
House in New York: With money stolen from the Council, Nemesis purchased a house in New York. On the first floor of the house there is the Allbright costume shop, and on the second floor there are living rooms, a workshop, a gym, a make-up room with masks, etc.
Asylum: Tom later set up a hideout in an old apartment building. The corridor of his house is equipped with a laser network. All surfaces of the house are covered with a special compound, which, upon contact with a certain gas, decomposes everything.
Earth-23
In this universe, Tom Tresser is the director of the CIA and he took part in a meeting in the White House regarding the development of nuclear weapons by Kwarak.
It is possible that Tom’s agency is the FBI.
Thomas Tresser was named after the actor who was Burkett’s neighbor in New Hampshire.

A terrible war that enveloped the human world, plunged the planet into darkness. But until recently, an era of scientific and technological breakthrough and prosperity reigned here. All the benefits acquired over the centuries, people have lost because of the thirst for power, which provoked a bloody confrontation. But that’s not all. The strongest hurricanes, large-scale fires, tsunamis swept across the Earth, and a plague epidemic arose.
Incessant clashes of warring clans, natural disasters and raging disease have reduced the population. However, this fact does not compel the chiefs to stop sending their slave troops into battle. The leaders do not care about human life, because they are obsessed with the desire to seize as much of the desert lands as possible.
A new battle is coming, in which many warriors are likely to fall. In anticipation of the massacre, a small group of brave men devises an escape plan. Those who managed to survive found freedom. Taking the silver of their leader, the heroes headed to the Black Forest. This is a big risk, because everyone considers this place cursed.Rumor has it that a creepy mutant named Nemesis lives here, who killed many people.
But the terrible stories about the Black Forest do not stop our heroes – it is better to die free than to become slaves again. In the depths of the cursed lands, the daredevils will face great difficulties and mortal danger. Will they be able to preserve their lives and their newfound freedom?
Interesting fact: the budget of the adventure fantasy, filmed by the master of horror, Drew Mcwell, is only two hundred thousand dollars.

TACTICS OF DECEPTION

The world of Gigs Prime was destroyed and finally died, turning into a cluster of dying coals. The spongy black rocks around the camp disappeared under a veil of low-lying mist of radioactive dust left from cities after prolonged orbital bombardment. The bombardment of nuclear shells threw the planet on the executioner’s block, and now its cooling corpse was tightly enveloped in a mortal shroud – a silent and deadly cover of radiation that destroyed the remnants of life.

Why was this particular world attacked and not some other? This question arose as the warships passed them. But now the answer was clear: for an object lesson.
Tobeld did not think about it. He made his way along the temporary canopies set up under the wings of the Thunderbirds on the ground and listened to the warriors’ conversations, interrupted by the flapping of stretch marks and wind-blown banners.Reports were already coming in from the ships remaining in orbit. The rest of the worlds of this system, the orbital platforms, the planetary defense system – all gave up their freedom without any conditions. Lesson learned.
Mastering the Gigs system went quickly and without complications. Several decades later, this event will hardly receive more attention than a couple of lines in the annals of the history of the war. The military flotilla did not suffer any significant losses, nothing that could attract the attention of the author of the grandiose conflict, of which this small operation became a part. The Gigs system was another stone on a winding trail that began in the Isstvan system and led to the other end of the galaxy towards Terra. The death of Gigs Prime marked another step that went unnoticed by the blood of millions. According to the traditional logic of war, the conquerors did not have the slightest reason to even just land on the surface of this planet, but they nevertheless descended from orbit in a small group, and one could only guess about the reasons for this act.
Tobeld raised his hand and covered his mouth with a hoodie to muffle a cough.Sputum and coppery taste remained in the mouth. The radiation had already killed him at the moment when he got off the shuttle along with other slaves who were brought from the ship to serve the conquerors. They will all die before the sun goes down. He knew that he would share a common fate, but achieving the goal was worth it. On the ship, in the gloom of the sleeping pod, Tobeld used a quarter of his supply to make a radio protector; the rest he used to create the substance, which was now placed in a glass jar the size of a finger, attached to the inside of his wrist. He worked hard to get rid of the remnants of his equipment, but he still feared that some kind of trail would give him away. And the radioprotectors acted rather weakly. He has very little time.
Tobeld walked past the amphibious assault ship, which was enclosed by an engine casing, and through the dark blanket of smoke, he looked for the largest tent – a squat tent made of camouflage material. A gust of wind lifted the entrance panel for a second and gave him the opportunity to look inside. He saw what looked like reflections of fire dancing on the polished plates of ceramite armor, and wet streaks like jets of blood that came to life.In a moment, the wind changed and the vision disappeared. But even that little was enough to make him shiver.
Tobeld hesitantly froze. From Thunderbird to the tent, he had to cross an open space, and he could not afford to be detained. After a long preparation, his mission enters the final stage. Not a single mistake can be made. No one has ever managed to get so close to the goal. He has no right to fail.
Tobeld gasped for breath. He devoted an entire sunny year of his life to this operation, sacrificing an excellent cover after ten years spent in the guise of a petty functionary of a non-existent clan. He was so carried away by the new goal that he voluntarily abandoned this carefully constructed disguise. For the sake of this mission, he carefully, with the help of numerous doses of a wide variety of poisons, achieved an assignment to the battle barge “Spirit of Vengeance”, the flagship of Horus Lupercal.
Two years have passed since the betrayal on Isstvan, which initiated the rebellion of Horus against the Imperium and his father, the Emperor of Mankind.During this period, he made significant progress in the conquest of the Galaxy. As in this case, every solar system that got in the way of Horus’ warships, either went over to his side, or was subjected to brutal destruction. The many worlds united during the Great Crusade were now torn between loyalty to either distant Terra and the absent Emperor, or the victorious Horus and the army of his generals. From the scraps of information that reached the lower deck where Tobeld was found, it became clear that the rebel armada was growing stronger every day.Horus’s iron grip squeezed one sector of the galaxy after another. You didn’t need to have special tactical knowledge to understand: Horus is accumulating energy for a decisive throw – an attack on Terra and the Imperial Palace.
Horus must not be allowed to take this final step.
At first it seemed like an unattainable object. The Warmaster himself, primarch, demigod and illustrious warrior, and Tobeld, an ordinary mortal. A very skilled and skilled assassin, but still only human. Trying to strike at the Warmaster aboard the Vengeful Spirit would be sheer madness.Tobeld worked for five long months on the ship before he could even look at the Warmaster from afar, and when he saw this powerful creature, he could not help asking himself the question: “How am I going to kill him?”
Conventional poisons for Astartes physiology were completely useless, these warriors could drink them as easily as Tobeld could drink wine. But Tobeld tackled this problem precisely because poisons were his weapon of choice. Poisons could act quickly, could wait a long time in the wings, could dissolve without a trace.Tobeld was one of the best masters of toxicology in the Venenum circle. Even during his apprenticeship, he created poisons from the most primitive materials, he eliminated dozens of targets and left no traces. And little by little he began to believe that was capable of , if only fate would give him the slightest chance.
The weapon was kept in a bottle. Tobeld created a substance of combined action: a mixture of suspensions of molecular catalysts that temporarily suspend the vital activity of a genetically modified water absorber virus – a terrible organism that is capable of depriving a living creature of all moisture reserves in a matter of seconds. And when Horus announced that he would lead the ground operation on Gigs Prime, Tobeld heard the ringing of the bells of fate in his words. This is his chance. His only chance.
On the lower decks of the Spirit of Vengeance, where the servitors and servitors dwelled, a wide variety of rumors and speculation circulated. People talked about strange events taking place on the upper level where the Astartes lived, about changes, ghosts and mysterious phenomena in different parts of the ship. Tobeld heard talk about the so-called lodges , where these strange events took place.Rumors reached him about the rituals carried out on the surface of the conquered worlds, with their cruelty and inhumanity to the point of nausea similar to the rituals of idolaters. The people who spread these rumors tended to quickly disappear, leaving nothing behind but vague fears.
The wind died down a bit, and Tobeld concentrated on his weapon. Horus was very close, not more than ten paces away, inside the tent, where, together with his entourage – Maloghurst, Abaddon and the others – he participated in the next ritual.Close, closer than ever. Tobeld tried to distract himself from the pain in his throat and joints. Entering the tent, he will pour poison into the jug of wine next to Horus, and fill the goblets of the Warmaster and his closest battle brothers. One sip will be enough for the poison to enter the body, and … Tobeld hoped that this would be enough to kill them. He himself will no longer live to see the end of his mission; he has enough faith in his own art.
It’s time. He stepped out of the shadow of the Thunderbird’s wing, and immediately a voice rang out:
– Is that him?
From the gloom of the smokescreen, somewhere very close, a chilling answer sounded:
– Yes.
Tobeld tried to turn on the spot, but his legs were already off the ground. First, he saw a hand grabbing his clothes, and then a huge dark silhouette in steel gray armor appeared. Finally, a gloomy face emerged from the darkness, which seemed to consist of only corners and an undisguised threat. It had wide-set black eyes that glittered with malicious joy.
– Where are you going, little man?
Tobeld could not help but be surprised that such a huge warrior could get close to him without a single sound.
– Master, I …
It was very difficult to speak. Tobeld’s throat was dry as in the desert, and the clothing the Astartes had grabbed hard into his neck. He tried to inhale, but not too harshly, fearing that the rebel would consider it a desperate attempt to resist and react accordingly.
“Quiet, quiet,” came another voice.
A new figure emerged from the veil of smoke, even more massive and formidable. Tobeld was struck by the intricate engravings and medallions of precious stones that adorned the chest of the second Astartes, as well as the insignia of the high rank of the warrior from the Legion of the Sons of Horus. But even without these symbols, he immediately recognized the laughing face and very blond hair of Luc Sedirae, captain of the Thirteenth Company.
“Let’s not make a show out of this,” Sedirae continued.
His right arm involuntarily bent; he did not wear a gauntlet on it, displaying polished bronze and anodized black steel of the augment mechanism in place of the lost hand. Sedirae had lost an arm on Isstvan while fighting the Raven Guard, and took pride in his wound like an honorific.
Tobeld’s gaze shifted to the warrior who held him, and on his armor he also found the symbols of the Thirteenth Company, and then recognized him as Devram Korda, one of Sedirae’s deputies. But this did not bode well for him. He tried to speak again:
– Gentlemen, I am only doing my duty …
But the words stuck in his throat, and Tobeld coughed, ending the sentence with a convulsive breath.
From behind Korda, from the same path Tobeld had just walked down, a third Astartes appeared. The assassin knew this warrior very well, too. Armor the color of dried blood, a face with a hurricane raging beneath its skin, and a look that cannot be sustained. Erebus.
“My duty,” repeated the first Word Bearers chaplain, pondering his excuses. – This is not a lie.
Erebus’s voice sounded restrained, almost soft, only slightly overlapping the sound of the Gigs winds.
Tobeld blinked, feeling the horror growing in his chest, born of the chilling consciousness of inevitability. Erebus knew who he was.Somehow he knew it from the very beginning. The whole sight of the approaching Astartes indicated that all the careful tricks, all the impeccable skill of the assassin – it was all in vain.
– It is my duty to serve the Warmaster! Tobeld blurted out, desperate to win a few more moments of life.
– Quiet! The Word Bearer ordered him before the assassin could say anything else. Erebus looked back at the commander’s tent. “Great Horus cannot be disturbed. He will be … unhappy.
Korda shook Tobeld like a fisherman shakes a paltry catch before tossing it back into the sea.
“So weak,” he said. – He is dying right before our eyes. Radiation devours him from the inside.
Sedirae crossed his arms over his chest.
– Well? He turned impatiently to Erebus. “Is this some kind of Word Bearer game, or do we have a real reason to torture this slave?” He pursed his lips in disgust. – I’m getting bored.
“This is a killer,” Erebus explained.- A kind of weapon.
Tobeld only now realized that they were waiting for him.
“I am … a simple servant,” he croaked.
From Korda’s firm grip, his arms and legs were already beginning to go numb, and everything was blurring before his eyes.
“Lies,” the Word Bearer snapped, and the accusation sounded like a whip.
Panic ripped through the remnants of the restraining barriers in Tobeld’s brain, and he felt terror sweep over his head. All logic immediately evaporated, leaving only a sense of animal fear. All the cool-headed tactics he had learned in school since childhood proved useless under the cold, very cold gaze of Erebus.
Tobeld flexed his wrist, and the bottle ended up in his fingers. He jerked violently in Korda’s hand, and partly caught the Astartes off guard, so he managed to slam the glass cylinder down sharply. The crystal structure of the bottle, responsive to intense movement, opened a tiny hole in the wide part through which monomolecular needles protruded. These thin wires, not much larger than a human hair, could nevertheless easily penetrate the rough epidermis of the Adeptus Astartes. Tobeld reached for Korda’s scarred face, missed, and twisted again, trying to kill the Astartes holding him. He acted completely thoughtlessly, like a mechanism in which a programmed program had gone astray.
Korda decided to calm the assassin and slapped him on the head with the back of his free hand, but the blow was so strong that his jaw broke and his skull almost split. In addition, Korda knocked out one of his eyes. Tobeld lost consciousness for a moment, and woke up already on the ground. The blood from the broken mouth and nose had already collected in a small pool.
“Erebus is right, my lord,” Korda said, his voice very distant and muffled.

Nemesis (story)
– Uraaa! The war is over! ”The soldiers rejoiced.
– Let’s raise the trophies in honor of General Breckhart! War hero! – shouted someone from the crowd.
The general himself modestly settled himself in the corner of the tavern.
– General, let me introduce myself, I am Volakh, the marshal’s envoy, he ordered me to convey a message to you – it seemed like a young man appeared out of nowhere.
– Here.- holding out the sealed scroll, the guy with eyes full of joy, looked at the general.
Taking and printing the message, Breckhart dismissed the young man, and he himself read the letter from the marshal.
The message read …
– I, Marshal Var-Irtedicus, first sword of the Emperor, bow my head to your talent, General Breckhart.Your consummate genius has impressed the entire capital. I hasten to inform you that the Emperor, as a reward, will grant you the castle of Amprekht, with the adjacent lands and appoints you as the procurator of all lands south of the Irius River, and also transfers 3000 souls to submission. Long years to the Emperor and his loyal military leaders. P.S. Marshal of the Empire, Var-Irtedicus.
Undoubtedly, the given lands were fertile, rich, it was even possible to establish production, but THIS is the CONQUERED land. The general is simply written off from the accounts, and a beautiful handout in the form of a castle and adjacent lands will shut up the aristocracy.
When the war with the wild barbarians began, 15 years ago, Breckhart, while still young, inexperienced, joined the army in order to feed his family from a salary. It turned out that the boy had a huge talent for military affairs and he quickly rose to the top.
As a general, Breckhart had an idea of what kind of intrigue was going on in the palace. What the Imperial Family stands on. On the pain and blood of an ordinary soldier, on the hard work and sweat of thousands of peasants. He hated the representatives of blue blood. For the fact that they control lives that they have no right to own. But of course I didn’t share my opinion with anyone. The general slept in a camp tent, like an ordinary soldier, went into battle with them, ate the same food. He himself cleaned the armor and sharpened the blade.
The days of jubilation flew by in a second.A new commander has arrived. Breckhart handed over the affairs and the post to the new general, and he himself, with the veterans who decided to join the commander, went to fetch his family, far to the north, to the mountains, where winter always stands.
It was a bright, sunny winter day, snow crunched merrily underfoot, and the forest surrounding the travelers seemed to come to life and tell old legends about ancient times, when God Arn himself walked the earth as an ordinary person.
Fear took possession of Breckhart, charred embers remained in the place of his native village, there were no thoughts, no feelings, let alone a guess who could do it … The retired general only, in prostration, wandered through his once native land …
Here lived his uncle and aunt, and here his friend Moores, two houses later, Aletvin’s first love…
A month has passed since Breckhart arrived “home”, the forest game helped him and his detachment not to starve to death, and the constructed log house gave warmth. It was late evening and the veterans gathered for a meeting, where they decided what to do next.
– My general, whatever you decide, I will go with you.- one of the commanders
– And I- answered the foreman
– My sword will be with you to the end – Mark decided. So, each of the soldiers who came decided to follow the trail of their leader.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door… It seemed that the last thing that protected people from the cold and the ensuing storm was about to fly off the hinges. Breckhart stood up resolutely and opened the door.
At the entrance stood a dead pale man, with bluish lips and black, dead eyes. Breckhart recognized his brother, more people suddenly began to appear behind him, many people, and everyone slowly walked into the light emanating from the open front door…
Breckhart sat up abruptly, waking up from a dreamed nightmare … Behind the tent were heard the sounds of gathering, neighing of horses, and an ordinary soldier stood near the bed.
– My General, Castle Aprekht wishes to lay down their arms, provided that women, old people and children remain intact.
