LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After emerging victorious in a top-10 meeting last week on Senior Day, the No. 10 UIndy men’s lacrosse team (8-2, 8-2 GLVC) surged up four spots in the recent United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Coaches Poll for Division II, the organization announced on Monday.
The Greyhounds took down then-ranked No. 9 Lindenwood last weekend, ousting the Lions on a final score of 11-9 at Key Stadium on Saturday, April 24. Goal keeper Austin Barnett took charge in collecting 14 saves on the day, his fifth contest of the season holding a double-digit total in that statistical category. Drew Billig led the team with six points against Lindenwood, scoring four goals on six shots on goal and throwing a pair of assists into the mix as well. Freshman Caleb Parker was the Hounds’ main player in the face off circle against Lindenwood, the Bixby, Okla., native collected six ground balls and won 13 out of 23 face offs to push the Hounds’ offense.
A handful of other GLVC institutions remain in the top-20 rankings, UIndy pacing the conference at the No. 10 spot as of right now with their 7-2 record. Lindenwood follows closely behind them after dropping two spots, the Lions now ranking 11th overall. Rockhurst moves back into the rankings with their recent success and 7-3 record, rounding out the poll at the No. 20 spot.
With the recent cancellation of the Greyhounds’ two remaining contests in the regular season due to COVID-19 protocols, the Hounds will now get an extra week to prepare for the 2021 GLVC Men’s Lacrosse Tournament in two weeks. As many other teams still playing out the rest of the regular season, the Hounds only know the start date of the tournament (Friday, May 7), but not the first round time or opponent. Live Stats // Video Stream
LEXINGTON, Va. —
For the fifth straight week, the Christopher Newport men’s lacrosse team was listed in the top-10 of the USILA National Coaches Poll as the Captains were slotted ninth in the latest rankings ahead of Tuesday’s non-conference showdown at Washington & Lee.
In the poll, Christopher Newport picked up 225 points to remain in the top-10 of the USILA rankings. Meanwhile, Washington & Lee was slotted just outside of the top-20 as the Generals received 19 points, placing them 12 behind No. 20 Ohio Wesleyan.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Washington & Lee will not allow visiting fans to attend home games this spring. However, the Generals will provide live stats and a video stream of Tuesday’s action at GeneralsSports.com. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.
Entering Tuesday’s battle, Christopher Newport sits at 7-4 on the season, including 4-2 on the road. Meanwhile, Washington & Lee is 6-3 with a pristine 4-0 mark at home.
Through 11 games this season, Brady Altobello and Dylan Rice both rank among the top-10 in the conference in goals. Altobello is fifth with 28 strikes, while Rice is eighth with 24. Meanwhile, both veterans also stand in the top-10 in total points, while sophomore Drew Miller is eighth overall with 12 assists.

Additionally, Young leads all defensemen with 38 ground balls, and Zac Hanway has compiled a .527 save percentage and a 10.74 goals-against-average. Both of those rates place him second among conference goalies.
Washington & Lee was last in action on Sunday when the team improved to 4-0 at home with a 17-1 victory against Shenandoah. Outstanding on their home turf, the Generals also posted a 12-10 triumph over No. 3 Lynchburg earlier this month at Wilson Field.
Overall this season, W&L has been led by Stuart Greenspon, who boasts a team-high 18 goals and 11 assists. Ben Mulholland has also found the back of the cage 15 times, while Taylor Witherell is coming off of a five-point explosion against Shenandoah on Sunday. During that battle, Greenspon notched two goals for the hosts, while Rice had a pair for Christopher Newport. Altobello, Griffin Hanes, and Will Stockhausen all scored for the visitors as well.

Story Links
Louisville, Ky. —-The Wingate University Bulldogs made a big jump in this week’s poll, moving up five spots to number six in the NCAA Division II USILA top 20 poll, which was released Monday afternoon. The Bulldogs are 3-0 on the season, coming off a convincing 12-3 victory at previously fifth-ranked Limestone. Wingate has now been ranked in every USILA poll since the start of the 2019 season. The Bulldogs crack the top 10 for the first time since the end of the 2019 season, when Wingate won its third straight SAC Tournament title to check in at #10.
Wingate was ranked 15th in the preseason poll, then jumped to 13 after the 20-3 victory over Barton in the season opener. The ‘Dogs moved up to #11 after taking down Montevallo 21-9 last Saturday.
Saturday’s 12-3 victory at Limestone was the biggest loss for the perennial national powers since the 2006 national semifinals. The three goals also tie a program low, which was also set in that contest 15 years ago. Wingate blanked the Saints in the second half, while out-shooting Limestone 48-24 on the day.
The Bulldogs rank among the nation’s best in several categories. Wingate leads the nation in assists, ranking second in assists per game and points per game. Wingate is fourth nationally in scoring offense, scoring defense and scoring margin. The Bulldogs are averaging 17.67 goals per game, while holding opponents to five goals per contest.
Adam Vodovnik leads the SAC and ranks third in the nation with 5.67 goals per game. Willie Grieco is second nationally with 5.33 assists per game and 8.00 points per game, leading the SAC in both categories with Vodovnik ranking sixth in the nation in points per game. Edward Erickson leads the nation with a 3.25 goals-against average, ranking second in the nation with a .714 save percentage. Noah Ehinger is sixth in the country in face-off winning percentage.
After starting the season as the fourth-highest ranked SAC team in the USILA rankings, Wingate is now the highest-ranked team from the conference, one spot ahead of seventh-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne. Limestone dropped from fifth to 12th after the Wingate setback, while Queens checks in at #14.
Wingate is back in action Saturday, hosting Coker at 3 p.m. The Bulldogs travel to Charlotte to face the 14th-ranked Royals Wednesday, March 10 at 7 p.m. The ‘Dogs have a trip to Lenoir-Rhyne April 7, followed by a home game against #8 Mount Olive April 13.

“Youth of the ONF” forms the rating of values of the inhabitants of Russia “What is the strength?”
“Youth of the ONF” launched the all-Russian action “What is the power?”Street and online polls will run until October 30.
The main goal of the action is to form a rating of the values of the country’s inhabitants. To do this, the members of the “ONF Youth” ask people of different ages and professions a question from the popular films “Brother” and “Brother-2”. To the simple question “What is the strength?” have already answered in the Rostov, Leningrad, Moscow region, Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of Tatarstan.
In Moscow, the action was held at the wall in memory of Viktor Tsoi on the Arbat.
“Strength in honor, dignity and conscience.Nowadays, many are obsessed with money. During my life I have traveled many places and realized that this is not the case everywhere. For example, people from Siberian cities surprised me with their character. Honor lives in Russia, ”says Konstantin, a Muscovite .
The survey participants wrote their answers with colored markers on canvas. Most adolescents and young adults aged 12-17 said that power is in knowledge, friendship and communication. Slightly older respondents – from 18 to 25 believe that the main thing in life is love and honesty.People aged 25-45 see strength in truth, self-development, justice and faith. The respondents over 45 named family and health as the main values.
If we talk about the strength of the elderly, then in their answer most often sounded – nature, family, children, homeland.
“Strength in life, in nature, in communication with people. Each person has a certain place where he always returns with his thoughts. For example, I spent all my childhood with my grandmother in the village. There were birches higher than a five-story building, wooden houses, blue flax fields, rye with cornflowers. This is my place of power, and the memories of it are my strength, “says Natalia Bazhenova, a resident of Krasnodar, .
In Krasnodar, the survey was held in the Botanical Garden named after I.S. Kosenko. And in the Leningrad region – at the walls of the Vyborg castle in Vyborg. “For many of my fellow countrymen, the native walls of the Vyborg castle are a place of power. Therefore, we decided to conduct a survey here. Today the residents of the region were asked what is their strength. We want to find out and show what unites our big, strong and friendly country, “says member of the ONF Youth team in the Leningrad region Sergey Ivaschenko.
Later, on the basis of the analyzed data, a rating of values will be compiled and published.
“These polls are very much needed today. It is interesting to know what youth breathes and what is their strength. I would like to believe that in them it manifests itself in such good qualities as love, friendship, happiness, understanding, compassion. I would also look at the answers of the older generation, ”says 90,075 a resident of St. Petersburg.
In Rostov, the poll took place on the central streets of the city.On the first day of the action 120 people told about their strength to the ONF Youth. The most common answers are truth and love. And in Kazan, most people believe that strength lies in loyalty, kindness, decency and honesty.
As part of the action, residents of all regions of the country will tell about their strength. Upon its completion, “Youth of the ONF” will compile a rating of responses for each constituent entity and the country as a whole. And the most popular of them will be placed by the team members on the main banners, which are planned to be installed on the central streets of Russian cities in November.
90,000 Russian “soft power”: global rating
Russia took 13th place in the ranking of countries in the world in terms of “soft power” at the end of 2020. About it
said in a report from Brand Finance. Germany became the leader of the list, Japan took the second place, Great Britain took the third place. At the same time, the United States, which in 2020 were the first in this indicator, this time was on the sixth line.
The term “soft power” was first coined by Harvard professor Joseph Nye in 1990.He argued that there is an alternative foreign policy method for states, which helps to achieve the desired results based on the attractiveness of their own culture and values, as well as through cooperation in certain areas, aimed at persuading and forming a positive perception. At the same time, “soft power” does not imply the use of military and economic means as the main method of achieving its goals.
Brand Finance experts gave the following definition of “soft power” – “the ability of a nation to influence the preferences and behavior of various individuals in the international arena (states, corporations, society, etc.)through attractiveness and persuasion, not the use of force. ” When compiling a rating, countries are assessed according to several key elements that affect the recognition and reputation of a nation: business and trade, order, international relations, culture and heritage, media and communications, education and science, people and values. In addition, this year, another indicator was added to them – how the country coped with the coronavirus pandemic.
Brand Finance surveyed 75 thousand people from 100 countries to find out how a particular country is estimated in the world. At the same time, when compiling the rating, statistical data were taken into account, as well as interviews with experts, politicians, journalists, economists, etc. – up to 62.2 out of 100. The country is leading in the following indicators: international relations, order, business and trade. Angela Merkel has served as Chancellor since 2005, but despite this, survey participants consider her one of the most respected leaders. At the same time, it is believed that Germany was successfully able to cope with COVID-19 and helped to resolve the problems with the UK’s exit from the EU. In the field of education and science, the country took 3rd place in the world. Here Japan and the USA were ahead of her. At the same time, Germany was able to improve the scores on this indicator thanks to the BioNTech / Pfizer vaccine. “Her long tenure at the helm has provided Germany with strength and stability against a backdrop of unpredictable and volatile partners, especially in the face of turmoil, as the threat of the collapse of the European single market increases with the UK leaving the EU,” the report said.
At the same time, the United States lost its leading position in the soft power index over the year. Due to a stormy election campaign and a haphazard reaction to COVID-19, the country dropped from first to sixth place with a total score of 55.9 out of 100. Thus, in the fight against the pandemic, the United States took 105th place. This is the worst performance in the index. In addition, the wave of Black Lives Matter protests in the summer of 2020 and the death of George Floyd have negatively impacted the country’s human rights record.
The indicators of China (54.3) and Russia (50.5) slightly decreased.Russia dropped from 10th to 13th place, China remained in eighth. At the same time, both countries have made significant scientific advances in developing their own vaccines against coronavirus and improved indicators for the Education and Science component.
The fall in China’s rating was influenced by the pandemic, as it is believed that the coronavirus was first detected in Wuhan, protests in Hong Kong, deteriorating relations with Taiwan, and human rights violations in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. As for Russia, the decline in its rating was facilitated by the deterioration of relations with many Western countries, as well as small state support to the population in connection with the crisis and pandemic.
The authors of the study note that Russia has enormous potential, and in the near future the country may improve its performance and rise to sixth place in the ranking. Thus, public opinion signals a change in ideas about what global power is and implies a weakening of the influence of Western countries (primarily the United States) on the world arena. Notably, Gen Z respondents (people who were born between 1997 and 2012) and millennials (born between 1981 and 1996) tend to rate the reputation of countries like Russia, Turkey, and the Philippines higher than the older generation. For example, Germans and Brazilians (representatives of Generation Z) positively assess the reputation of Russia. And this is the general picture for many Western countries.
90,000 Why do you need strength and rating?
Why rating, strength and science?
– a user’s rating above +100 makes it possible to rate posts, comments, and also rate other users.
– by voting for entries, you can display them on the main page. Any moderator-approved smartlab entry that reaches +15 goes to the main page
– if your rating is higher than +5, then the title of any of your posts goes to the main page after publication – thus, more participants will read it.
– the rating takes you to a higher place in the list of traders
– rating allows you to write to more sections
– the POWER indicator determines the strength of the trader’s voice. The greater the power, the more the rating of the participant you are voting for changes.
– A rating below -3 removes your post titles from the All Blogs section. This is done in order to remove spammers and flooders and not to clog the feed.
– rating below -5 removes all user comments. This measure is directed against those who repeatedly write nasty things in the comments.
How is rating, strength and science formed?
– voting for a comment affects the size of the “Force”
– voting for the entry affects the “Rating” and “Strength”
– voting for the user has a greater impact on the “Rating” and “Strength”
– publications and edits of articles of the financial dictionary add a rating “Science” More details
How to earn a rating ?
– writing interesting posts to your blog is the fastest way to gain respect and authority on smartlab, as well as raise your
rating
– once a week, the site administrator checks all users for adequacy and distributes an initial rating of +5 to everyone who wrote interesting posts and showed themselves as a normal decent person
Rules and guidelines :
– Don’t abuse your rating. Try to give your assessments as objectively as possible.
– Try to refrain from setting minuses. Cons often offend people and suppress their creative enthusiasm. If you don’t like someone’s opinion, just ignore the post and don’t rate it.
– Feel free to put downsides if the post does not correspond to our topic, if it contains swearing and insults, or advertising some useless service, or just spam
– Users caught in biased mass exposure of minuses will be deprived of their rating by the admin.
