Are memberships refundable or transferable?

No, USA Ultimate memberships are not refundable nor transferable. Memberships are not tied directly to a specific event or program.

Member dues help support USA Ultimate’s many efforts and programs designed to advance the sport at all levels across the nation.

Can I upgrade my membership?

Yes. You can upgrade an annual membership from one type or duration to a higher one, as long as you upgrade for all remaining years of your current membership.

You cannot upgrade from a player membership to a non-player membership (i.e., coach and player to just a coach membership).

How to Upgrade

If you have a multi-year membership and are not in the first year, email your upgrade request to [email protected]. You will receive an invoice for the difference in cost of the memberships. Once you complete the payment, let us know via email, and we’ll manually upgrade your membership.

Are memberships tax deductible?

No. USA Ultimate memberships are not tax deductible. Memberships automatically come with benefits, which means they are not deductible according to IRS rules.

Any donations to the Ultimate Foundation are tax deductible!

What if I can’t access my account?

 Below you will find a short description and the requirements for each membership.

Competitor Membership – $105

A competitor membership is for competitive youth and adult climbers that wish to compete at regional, divisional, and/or national level events. A competitor membership can also be used at qualifying (local) events and is required for results to count toward regional qualification. In order to obtain this membership, a competitor member that is 18 years or older must complete annual SafeSport Training.

Introductory Membership – $30

An introductory membership is for competitive climbers that wish to compete at qualifying (local) events and National Cup Series competitions. Introductory members qualifying event scores will not qualify for regional, divisional, and/or national level events.   In order for a climber’s score to count towards regional qualification, introductory members must upgrade their membership prior to the qualifying competition, in addition to other eligibility requirements, through their USA Climbing account to either a competitor membership (youth/adult) or a collegiate membership (collegiate). In order to obtain this membership, an introductory member that is 18 years or older must complete annual SafeSport Training.

Collegiate Membership – $65

A collegiate membership is for competitive collegiate climbers that wish to compete at divisional and/or national level collegiate events. A collegiate membership can also be used at collegiate qualifying (local) events.  In order to compete in non-collegiate events, a collegiate member must upgrade to a competitor membership through their USA Climbing account. In order to obtain this membership, a collegiate member that is 18 years or older must complete annual SafeSport Training.

Collegiate Introductory Membership – $30

A collegiate introductory membership is for competitive climbers that wish to compete at qualifying (local) events. In order for a collegiate climber to compete at divisional, and/or national level events, collegiate introductory members must upgrade their membership, in addition to other eligibility requirements, through their USA Climbing account to either a competitor membership (youth/adult) or a collegiate membership (collegiate). In order to obtain this membership, an introductory member that is 18 years or older must complete annual SafeSport Training.

Team Captain Membership- Free

A team captain membership is a free add-on to a collegiate membership which allows the team captain to create a team roster for divisionals and nationals. The deadline for creating rosters will be when registration closes for divisionals. This deadline will be communicated to competitors when USAC announces registration opening for collegiate divisionals. The ability to add rosters will open during the local season in order to give teams as long as possible to add their rosters to their USA Climbing account.

Paraclimbing Membership – $45

A paraclimbing membership is for competitive para-athletes that wish to compete at local and national level paraclimbing events. In order to compete in non-paraclimbing events, a paraclimbing member must upgrade to a competitor membership through their USA Climbing account. In order to obtain this membership, a paraclimbing member that is 18 years or older must complete annual SafeSport Training.

Level 1 Coach Membership – $40

A Level 1 Coach Membership is for coaches that wish to coach at a USA Climbing Sanctioned Event. Level 1 Coaches do not have competition isolation area (‘iso’) access. A Level 1 Coach does have the ability to file appeals. In order to obtain this membership, a coach must complete annual SafeSport Training, successfully pass a background screen, and provide documentation of their coaching role. SafeSport Training and Background Screens can be accessed through a member’s USA Climbing account. Coaching verification is to be completed independently by the member with documentation uploaded into their USA Climbing account.  Level 1 Coaches can upgrade their membership to a Level 2 Coach Membership at any time through their USA Climbing account.

Level 2 Coach Membership – $90

A Level 2 Coach Membership is for coaches that wish to coach at a USA Climbing Sanctioned Event. Level 2 Coaches have competition isolation area (‘iso’) access and the ability to file appeals. In order to obtain this membership, a coach must complete annual SafeSport Training, First Aid/CPR certification, successfully pass a background screen, and provide documentation of their coaching role. SafeSport Training and Background Screens can be accessed through a member’s USA Climbing account. First Aid/CPR Certification and coaching verification is to be completed independently by the member with documentation uploaded into their USA Climbing account.  

Routesetter Membership – Free

A Routesetter Membership is for individuals in process of becoming a Certified Routesetter by attending a Routesetting Clinic. Once a Routesetter Member successfully completes clinic requirements, they must upgrade to a Certified Routesetter Membership in order for certification to be complete. This membership is also for routesetters who are not certified but are members of a routesetting crew who are routesetting for a USA Climbing competition where a certification is not required. In order to obtain this membership, a routesetter member that is 18 years or older must complete annual SafeSport Training.

Certified Routesetter Membership – $70

A Certified Routesetter Membership is for USA Climbing certified routesetters. In order to obtain this membership, a routesetter must complete annual SafeSport Training. Level 3, 4, and 5 Routesetters must also successfully pass a background screen. SafeSport Training and Background Screens can be accessed through a member’s USA Climbing account.

Certified Judge Membership – Free

A Certified Judge Membership is required for all Certified Chief Judges and Certified Route Judges who appear on the ‘Certified Judges List’. In order to obtain this membership, a judge must complete annual SafeSport Training and successfully pass a background screen. SafeSport Training and Background Screens can be accessed through a member’s USA Climbing account.

Volunteer Membership – Free

A Volunteer Membership is required by those seeking to volunteer at a sanctioned USA Climbing competition. Volunteer Memberships (Covered and Non-Covered Individuals) are split into two categories based on the type of volunteer position.

Covered Individuals: Chief Belayers, Isolation Coordinators, Volunteer Coordinators, and Event Organizers. In order to obtain this membership, a member must complete annual SafeSport Training and successfully pass a background screen. SafeSport Training and Background Screens can be accessed through a member’s USA Climbing account.

Non-Covered Individuals: Non-Certified Judges, Scorekeepers, Runners, and Belayers.

Coordinator Membership – Free

Coordinator Membership is for Regional, Divisional, and National Coordinators. In order to obtain this membership, a coordinator must complete annual SafeSport Training and successfully pass a background screen. SafeSport Training and Background Screens can be accessed through a member’s USA Climbing account.

Supporter Membership – $35

Supporter Members are individuals who support the strategic direction of USA Climbing, including but not limited to, purpose, programs, aims and objectives of USA Climbing.

USAC Staff Membership – Free

The Staff Membership is for USA Climbing full-time staff, Board Members, Committee Members, Working Groups, and Task Forces. Staff Memberships  are split into two categories (Covered and Non-Covered Individuals) based on the type of position.

Covered Individuals: USA Climbing full-time staff, Board Members, and Members of Designated Committees (NGC, Audit, Judicial, Hearing Panel Pool and Team Selection). In order to obtain this membership, a member must complete annual SafeSport Training and successfully pass a background screen. SafeSport Training and Background Screens can be accessed through a member’s USA Climbing account.

Non-Covered Individuals: Members of Other Committees, Working Groups, and Task Forces.

Team Membership – Free

This membership is required for a team to be eligible for the Team Championship competition at championship events. A Level 2 Coach membership is required to add the team membership and athletes to the roster. This is accessible from the Level 2 Coaches USA Climbing account.

Basic Gym Membership – $100

This membership allows a gym to be included in a searchable gym locater on the USA Climbing website and access to USA Climbing benefits.

Full Gym Membership – $250

This membership is required for gyms who are hosting any USA Climbing sanctioned events. It allows inclusion in a searchable gym locater on the USA Climbing website and one free membership of their choice.

Additional Facility Membership – $75

This membership is available for facilities with multiple locations that have already purchased one classic gym membership and are hosting USA Climbing sanctioned events. For example, if a gym has three locations they should purchase one full gym membership and two additional facility memberships.

Q Where do I find my membership number?

Q How do I become a member of USA Volleyball?

Use our region map above to find the region where you live. Each region works with members to help them decide which membership will be the best fit for their role and type of play. The region staff will be able to assist you in completing your membership registration and any requirements to be eligible to play or compete.

Q What kind of memberships are there?

A

Each region has a variety of registration levels from which to choose. Check with your region to see which types are available for you. In general, they are:

• Adult (for players, coaches, officials)
• Juniors (for players ages 18 and under)
• Youth (for players ages 11 and under)
• Outdoor (for late spring/summer only play)
• One event (for one USAV-sanctioned event)
• League (for 8-12 week limited play only leagues)
• Other (fan, chaperone, leadership, etc.)

Q What are the requirements to be a USA Volleyball coach?

A

• Coaches for youth, junior and adult play must be registered members of the region in which they live.
• All coaches who work with players under the age of 18 must also have a current background screening. USA Volleyball has been protecting children with this requirement sine 2005.
• U.S. Center for Safesport Core Training is required for adults who have regular contact with amateur athletes who are minors, and/or have regular contact with or authority over an amateur athlete who is a minor. The training must be completed before regular contact with and amateur athlete who is a minor begins; or within the first 45 days of initial membership, or upon beginning a new role subjecting the adult to MAAPP.
• Coaches are also required to have the USAV IMPACT course certification  in order to coach a junior program. IMPACT is currently offered online. Learn more.

Q What are the requirements for becoming an official?

A

All referees and scorekeepers must be registered members and background screened by the region in which they live. Depending on the level of certification and the region, requirements vary. Each region sets its own limitations and needs for that area on regional requirements. It is best to check with your region and official’s chair for full listing of same.

Officials must also take SafeSport training. U.S. Center for SafeSport “Core” Training is required training for adults who have regular contact with amateur athletes who are minors, and/or have regular contact with or authority over an an amateur athlete who is a minor. The training must be completed before regular contact with an amateur athlete who is a minor begins; or within the first 45 days of initial membership, or upon beginning a new role subjecting the adult to the MAAPP.

Q If I play recreationally for my Park & Rec or AAU team, can I also be a member of USA Volleyball?

Yes! You can be a USA Volleyball member while playing park and rec, or sign up your whole team and play USA Volleyball events as well. Some of the 40 regions may choose to run a friendship tourney period that runs in the fall, which allows players to practice and/or play with various USA Volleyball teams in advance of the regular season. Automatic Disqualifiers

Section 1: An individual will be automatically ineligible for membership in USA Cheer if a background search reveals that such individual has been convicted of, received a deferred sentence or adjudication for, or pled guilty or no contest at any time for, or has been charged with (a diversion agreement will be considered a charge unless and until the agreement is fulfilled and the charge(s) dismissed), any of the following:

1. Any felony involving:
   1. Murder or homicide.
   2. Sex crimes, involving violence, lack of consent, or inability to consent, including rape and sexual assault.
   3. Sex crimes involving a minor
   4. Child endangerment, neglect or abuse.
   5. Violent crimes involving weapons (e.g., armed robbery v. unlawful possession)
   6. Animal abuse.
   7. Drug use or possession within the previous five years.*
   8. Other drug-related crimes including distribution, intent to distribute, manufacturing, trafficking, or sale within the previous seven years.*
2. Any misdemeanor involving:
   1. Sex crimes involving violence, lack of consent, or inability to consent, including rape and sexual assault.
   2. Sex crimes involving a minor
   3. Child endangerment, neglect or abuse.
   4. Drug use or possession within the previous three years.*
   5. Other drug-related crimes including distribution, intent to distribute, manufacturing, trafficking, or sale within the previous seven years.*

Section 2: An individual will also be automatically ineligible for licensing by USA Cheer if USA Cheer receives notification that the individual is currently subject to any sanction, whether temporary or permanent, by (1) the U.S. Center for SafeSport; or (2) another national governing body, for SafeSport-related violations.

USA Cheer will mirror and apply any sanction issued by the U.S. Center for SafeSport, or by another national governing body for SafeSport-related violations, and will enforce its own sanctions.

Potential Disqualifiers

An individual may be ineligible for membership in USA Cheer if a background search reveals that such individual has been convicted of, received a deferred sentence or adjudication for, or pled guilty or no contest at any time for, or has been charged with (a diversion agreement will be considered a charge unless and until the agreement is fulfilled and the charge(s) dismissed), any of the following:

1. Any felony involving:
   1. Non-violent sex crimes, including lewd conduct, indecent exposure, public indecency, prostitution, voyeurism, pandering and offender registration violations.
   2. Violence against a person not included in the Automatic Disqualifiers above.
   3. Any other felony.

This page describes the membership structure of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering of the United States of America, Inc. (INCE-USA). Individuals having professional responsibilities or an interest in noise control engineering at any level may participate in the activities of the Institute.

INCE-USA includes a broad representation of individuals who have a professional interest in research, teaching, and engineering applications involving all aspects of noise control.

INCE-USA has Associates, Student Associates, and Members.

Any Noise Control professional who meets the qualification requirements, regardless of membership status, is eligible for professional certification as Board Certified in Noise Control.

INCE-USA also confers the status of Fellow upon exemplary Members, and selects Distinguished International Members from among our colleagues outside the USA. Both honors originate from peer nominations.

Sustaining Members are companies, consultancies, and organizations that, through financial support of INCE-USA, are recognized as key participants in the world of Noise Control.

BOARD CERTIFICATION IN NOISE CONTROL ENGINEERING

INCE-USA offers Board Certification in Noise Control. Board Certification is formal recognition of the highest professional capability in the practice of Noise Control Engineering. Many projects that use the services of a Noise Control Engineer require Board Certification status to assure professional competence. Board Certification is available to any noise control professional meeting the specified requirements, regardless of their country of residence.

Professionals who are Board Certified in Noise Control are entitled to use the abbreviation “INCE Bd. Cert.” following their names in professional correspondence, on calling cards and in curriculum vitae.

INCE-USA DISTINGUISHED INTERNATIONAL MEMBER

The honorary status of INCE-USA Distinguished International Member is conferred by the INCE-USA Board of Directors upon those eminent individuals, residing outside of the USA,who have made extraordinarily significant contributions to the theory and/or practice of Noise Control Engineering.

Nominations for Distinguished International Member are submitted by a committee of peers who are active in Noise Control Engineering within the country of the proposed nominee.

ANNUAL FEES

The annual fee for both INCE-USA Associates and Members is USD$125. Payment entitles you to receive an annual membership directory, on-line access to Noise/News International (quarterly), Noise Control Engineering Journal (bimonthly), and the INCE Digital Library which contains all the proceedings from all NOISECON Conferences and Internoise Congresses.

Distinguished International Members do not pay an annual fee; contributions to the INCE Foundation in lieu of the membership fee are gratefully accepted.

EXAMINATION FEES

No fee is required in order to sit for a regularly scheduled INCE Fundamentals Examination.

The fee for the INCE Professional Examination, required for Board Certification in Noise Control, is listed on page four of the application form.

Candidates for specially scheduled INCE examinations will be required to prepay a special examination fee to defray the expenses of preparing and administering those examinations.

INCE Membership Policy Statements

The following policy statements have been reprinted from the INCE President’s Handbook.

ONE-SUM LIFETIME DUES PAYMENT

CONCEPT: By paying the fixed amount of lifetime membership dues in one lump sum, any Member shall be entitled to lifetime membership in the Institute without paying any further annual membership dues.

POLICY: (1981 December 03; revised 1989 December 03; revised 1991 April 29)

The one-sum lifetime dues payment is an optional method for payment of dues for INCE Members. The one-sum payment is a multiple of the annual membership dues then authorized. The sum depends upon the age of the member, age being determined as of the end of the calendar year in which dues become payable. The age and rate structures for future lifetime dues payments are reviewed periodically for adjustments as needed. For an INCE Member whose age is less than 30, the multiple of annual dues is 16; for a Member whose age is between 30 and 39, the multiple of annual dues is 14; and for a Member whose age is between 40 and 59, the multiple of annual dues is 12. For Members aged 65 and over, the multiple of the annual dues is 6. For Members aged between 60 and 65, the following table applies:

All one-sum lifetime dues payments will be retained in a separate account that will be known as the INCE Life Membership Fund. At the discretion of the Board of Directors, the income from the Fund may be withdrawn to pay for the Life Member’s share of his member services, if this income is required. The fund shall be managed by the Treasurer under the guidance of the INCE Life Membership Fund Committee, which shall consist of the President, Immediate Past President, President-elect, Treasurer and Finance Committee Chairman. An accounting for the fund shall be submitted to the Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors for a review by the Board. An INCE Member who makes a one-sum lifetime dues payment will be known as an INCE Life Member.

MEMBERS EMERITI

CONCEPT: INCE Members or Associates who are retired may, at their own request, become Members Emeriti or Associate Emeriti.

POLICY: (1980 January 19; revised 1989 December 03; revised 1991 April 29; revised 2004 January 25; revised 2015 February 7; revised 2016 June 12)

Emeritus status is available on request to any INCE-USA Member or Associate age 65 and over without regard to employment status. The INCE-USA Member Emeritus shall not be eligible to serve as an Officer or Director, but otherwise shall have all the other privileges of an INCE-USA Member. The INCE-USA Associate Emeritus shall have all the privileges of an INCE-USA Associate. Payment of annual dues is not required. During the yearly membership renewal cycle each Member Emeritus and Associate Emeritus will be sent a message of appreciation and requesting a voluntary donation to the INCE Foundation. All requests will be processed by the INCE-USA Business Office, which will inform the Vice President of Membership.

RESIGNATION, REINSTATEMENT AND REMOVAL OF MEMBERS

An INCE Member remains “in good standing” with the Institute as long as dues are paid for the current year. In the event of a change in job assignment, illness, or for some other reason, an INCE Member may wish to discontinue membership in the Institute. After a period of years, the former INCE Member may wish to be reinstated “in good standing” in the Institute. This policy statement describes the actions to be taken in the event of resignation, reinstatement, or removal of an INCE Member.

POLICY (1980 January 19; revised 1989 December 03; revised 1991 April 29; revised 1994 May 01; reaffirmed 1997 January 19; revised 2002 February 24; revised 2016 January 31)

Resignation: If by nonpayment of dues, an INCE Member indicates the desire to discontinue membership, we encourage that person to submit a letter of resignation to the INCE Vice President for Membership. A copy of this Policy Statement may be sent to the resignee with the response from the INCE Vice President for Membership.

Reinstatement: In the event a former INCE Member has resigned, and wishes to be reinstated after a lapse of one or more years, he or she must submit a written request, addressed to the INCE Vice President-Membership in care of the INCE Membership Secretariat, containing all of his or her current INCE contact information.

Removal: Members and Associates receive renewal notices for their annual dues on a monthly basis starting in November preceding the calendar year of membership. If dues are not paid as of the following April 1 of that calendar year, the Member or Associate is dropped from the active membership rolls. Membership can be renewed by contacting the INCE Business Office to pay the current dues amount.
