Manchester United – Crystal Palace | Preview – Theater of Dreams – Blogs
This post was written by Sports. ru user, every fan can start writing (you can do it here).
The Premier League is in full swing. Passions are raging over the recent Newcastle-Manchester United match, and it looks like they will talk about Liverpool-Manchester City for a long time. And the Champions League? Incredible intrigue is now at its limit, because not so long is left before the decisive matches of the group stage. Forget it. All this fades into the background, because tomorrow we have the Carling Cup. What could be better than the real, without the admixture of modern realities, English football?
About the opposition
Who’s to say that United were unlucky with the draw? I think no one. At the same time, I doubt that anyone would dare to call Crystal Palace an easy opponent. They are here, in 1/4, and in fact cannot be through. Dougie Friedman’s team plays not the most attractive football, and in the last 5 matches, as many as 3 matches ended with a score of 0:0. For the championship, this is weak, but at the same time, points are being scored, and this is the main thing.
Consider the team’s last November games. On the 2nd, Pallas faced Portsmouth. A viscous, sometimes even boring game, led to a completely logical score. This is despite the fact that both one and the other team had chances to snatch victory, but in general the game is equal, and the score is quite fair. In an away match against Cardiff, a “warm” reception awaited the guests. With an equal first half, in the second half of the meeting the home team got together and gave a real fight to the Eagles. First, Miller hit the opponent’s goal on 69th minute, and then Wittngham doubled the lead. 2-0, defeat to Crystal Palace.
Well, in the away match against Leicester, God himself ordered to atone for his guilt before the fans with a good, bright game. And there were chances, but only in the first half. And the second 45-minute again turned out to be a failure. Beckford opened the scoring, and Gallagher’s subsequent quick double brought it to devastating. Well, nothing happens. But it was not possible to achieve victory at his native Selhurst Park either. Millwall survived. Although why he survived, the guests still had moments. Next 0-0.
Surely many are interested in how such a modest team managed to get to the impressive 1/4 stage? And this is considering that the championship clubs start the tournament with 1\128. Of course, first of all, the fact that the Eagles played all their 4 matches on their own pier played a role. The will of the lot, what to do. Yes, no luck this time. Along the way, I had to overcome Crowley, the same one that opposed Manchester United very well in the FA Cup that season, Wigan, Middlesbrough and Southampton. In general, it is very curious that in all the fights the “glaziers” (another fairly common name in England is “Crystal Palace”) scored exactly 2 goals. No more no less. And missed only from “Southampton” and “Middlesbrough”.
Of course, one cannot but rejoice that United play at home, because the Eagles are a real force on their field, but the Glass ones are away. This is normal when we are talking about a team in the second and lower divisions of England. But the ability to fight, to fight, to show quite exciting football with their rather modest capabilities – is. The chance to get into the Europa League is great – it is enough to pass two more opponents, and the team wants to visit Wembley so much that they are ready for anything for this. Even for such a crazy act as defeating Manchester United at Old Trafford.
A few words about United
Everything is clear with the opponent. And what about the “red devils”? Knowing Sir Alex, you can be sure of two things:
1. There will be NO lack of motivation.
2.
Although, if you take a look at the application, and it is presented just below, you can see the names of the players who certainly do not go to the reserves. These are the leaders of Manchester United in the person of Wayne Rooney, Nani, Young, Chicharito. And the players who constantly fall under the rotation – Evans, Valencia, Park, Berbatov. And what do the names Vermil, Cole, Torf tell you? If the answer is only a shrug, keep an eye on the reserve. These guys are the future of United.
United (from): De Gea, Lindegaard, Amos, Thorpe, Rafael, Smalling, Fabio, Jones, Evans, Evra, Fryers, Nani, Valencia, Gibson, Carrick, Fletcher, Pogba, M Keane, Morrison , Cole, Vermijl, Park, Young, Rooney, Hernandez, Berbatov, Diouf, Macheda.
“All the young players will be in the squad – Zeki Fraers, the Da Silva brothers and other guys. Chris Smalling has recovered from his injury and may also play on Wednesday. In general, a very young team will come up against Crystal Palace. The only position where we have certain problems is the center of midfield. Perhaps Pogba will play there, but for now we will wait and see how things go. At least I have enough players to make a good line-up choice” – Sir Alex
“There are still quite a few strong teams left in this tournament. A few years ago, the competition was not so sharp, – the official website of the club quotes the midfielder of the “Red Devils”. – This is a very strong tournament, and we have the most serious attitude towards the quarterfinal match. We don’t take the Crystal Palace game as a cakewalk. This is another opportunity to succeed and keep your spirits up. There is nothing wrong with the habit of winning your matches, no matter what tournament it is.” – Michael Carrick
According to Michael, it is clear that the team is very serious about the next match in the Carling Cup, and is clearly going to return this trophy to Old Trafford. We are waiting for an incredible duel, which will be interesting to watch. Yes, yes, I promise, although the sign is not as bright as usual…
Other quarter-final pairings
Cardiff City – Blackburn Rovers (11/30/2011) 900 03
Factor 2.26 – 3.75 – 3.35
Given that the rest of the couples are quite serious, then whoever wins here, the clubs that have passed the quarterfinals will want to compete with the team from this duel. Bookmakers consider Cardiff City to be the favorite, but I beg to differ. Blackburn, although they are aimed at the championship, will miss the opportunity to get into the 1/2, and there will not be a final. Battle of the outsiders of the tournament. Don’t miss it, it will be interesting.
Chelsea – Liverpool (30.11.2011)
2.12 – 3.50 – 4.00
How’s the sign, considering such a dramatic match between these two teams in the Premier League? Seems to be impressive. The favorites include Chelsea, but the Scousers, despite the fact that they play away, are unlikely to give up easily, given that the motivation is at the limit, and the Merseysiders have not won trophies for a long time. It is worth waiting for a high intensity, an equal game, and do not exclude the possibility of extra time, and then a penalty shootout.
Arsenal – Manchester City
3.10 – 3.80 – 2.38
The Sky Blues go undefeated in the English Championship. They have the best bench today of all the clubs in the national championship (wait for the rotation) and show bright, albeit a little chaotic football. What about Arsenal? The Gunners, having lost big to United, got together and achieve results, showing not the best game. The stadium speaks for the latter, the uniform of the team speaks for the former. The second most interesting couple of this stage of the League Cup (Manchester United – Crystal Palace is in first place for us, isn’t it?).

Author Profile
A 16-year-old guy named Wayne dies the main person in his life – his father, who suffered from cancer. Before his death, he says that he wanted to bequeath his Pontiac Firebird car to his son. Except it was stolen a long time ago by the new husband of his ex-wife, Wayne’s mother. The couple live in another part of the United States.
Wayne goes to restore justice, and at the same time he takes with him a friend who is the same age as Del. She is also a difficult teenager and worries about her toxic father. He even once beats Wayne so that he does not go out with his daughter, but the guy fights back. After that, a couple of teenagers go on the run across the country.
Source: Amazon Prime Video
Wayne at first seems like a classic troubled hero. He roams the streets and spoils other people’s property, is rude to adults, resolves conflicts with his fists and is almost not friends with anyone. But he has his own system of values and an unshakable rule – to do everything in fairness.
If Wayne sees that someone is being deceived, he intervenes and reveals the truth. If high school students bully the weak, he will certainly stand up. And in the most teenage way: he will take a heavier object and smash it on the head of the offender.
/like-dekalog/
“Cinema Art”: I recommend “Dekalog”, a Polish TV series about life and death
Written by Paul Wernik. He is known for his work on both parts of “Deadpool” and the film “Welcome to Zombieland”. He has a recognizable style: “Wayne” has enough violence, jokes below the belt and rude swearing.
The mood of the series is reminiscent of The End of the Fucking World, another show about troubled teenagers.
There are 10 episodes in Wayne, each about 25 minutes long. Despite the modest timing, the authors manage to both make you laugh and make you sad. For example, one day, teenagers accidentally attend a stranger’s funeral or have a silly but charming dance at an evening ball at an unfamiliar school.
Over the course of the series, the writers shift the focus from the teenagers to Del’s father and her twin brothers, who are chasing the couple in order to get revenge on Wayne and bring the girl home.
What I liked
I liked the series with a light and cozy plot, which is interesting to follow. At the same time, the story is far from frivolous, because the characters are torn apart by internal conflicts. Wayne learns to solve problems not only with violence, and Del tries to trust another person – although due to regular bullying at school, it is not so easy for her to step over herself.
I also really liked the spectacular fights. The heroes bludgeon each other with their fists, kick, knee in the face, on the asphalt, and so on. I definitely don’t recommend it to the faint of heart, because there is a lot of violence. At the same time, the authors do not worry about the plausibility of the injuries inflicted. The main thing for them is that it looks fun. This series is very reminiscent of the same “Deadpool”.
Source: YouTube channel Prime Video
The story begins in Massachusetts, but Wayne and Del soon move to other states. The background is constantly changing – from the gray eastern regions to the bright sunny Florida.
Along the way, the characters encounter the difference in life in different states. In one, they hear new slang words from teenagers, in the other, they help Mexican immigrants who the employer wants to deceive.
Another plus of the series is in the charismatic characters of the second plan. Two police officers stand out in particular. The first is a big but stupid bull, the second is his frail and kind boss. He does not want to jail teenagers for their misdeeds, but tries to help them. A rare case in cinema when a police officer is imbued with the problems of younger heroes. Although Wayne and Del have something to punish: they burn down a house, nail a man to a car van, steal money, and so on. And the policeman, like a good uncle, still wants to help.
What’s the bottom line
I’m not old enough to draw any wisdom from teen shows. But I would recommend “Wayne” to anyone who loves witty adventure shows. There are many instructive stories about how important it is not to ignore injustice, to show humanity and sympathy where others will pass by.
