How does lacrosse culture intersect with tattoo artistry. What motivates athletes to get lacrosse-themed tattoos. How are tattoos used to honor lacrosse legends and teams. What are some popular lacrosse tattoo designs and their meanings.
The Evolution of Lacrosse Tattoo Culture
Lacrosse and tattoos share a unique connection, both offering adrenaline rushes and endorphin hits that everyday life often lacks. This intersection of sport and body art has given rise to a vibrant lacrosse tattoo culture. But how did this phenomenon develop?
Tattoos have been part of human culture for over 5,000 years, far predating the modern sport of lacrosse. However, as lacrosse has grown in popularity, especially in North America, so too has the prevalence of lacrosse-themed tattoos among players and fans.
The reasons behind getting a lacrosse tattoo are as diverse as the designs themselves. For many, it’s a way to permanently commemorate their love for the sport, a particular team, or a significant moment in their lacrosse career. Others see it as a badge of honor, showcasing their dedication and the physical toll the sport has taken on their bodies.
Why Do Lacrosse Players Get Tattoos?
- To commemorate championships or milestones
- As a tribute to teammates or coaches
- To represent their team or alma mater
- As a symbol of personal growth through the sport
- To showcase their passion for lacrosse
Popular Lacrosse Tattoo Designs and Their Meanings
Lacrosse tattoos come in a wide variety of designs, each carrying its own significance. Some of the most popular include:
- Crossed lacrosse sticks: Symbolizing the sport itself and often incorporating personal elements
- Lacrosse helmets: Representing protection and the warrior spirit of the game
- Team logos: Showing allegiance to a particular team or organization
- Native American imagery: Honoring the indigenous roots of the sport
- Jersey numbers: Commemorating a player’s identity on the field
- Lacrosse balls: Often used in minimalist designs or as part of larger compositions
- Motivational phrases: Inspirational quotes related to lacrosse or athletics in general
The placement of these tattoos varies, with many players opting for locations that can be easily covered by uniforms or business attire when necessary. Common spots include the upper arm, chest, back, and calf.
The Intersection of Lacrosse and Tattoo Artistry
As the popularity of lacrosse tattoos has grown, so too has the number of tattoo artists specializing in sports-themed designs. These artists often work closely with players to create custom pieces that blend lacrosse imagery with personal symbolism.
Some tattoo shops near major lacrosse hubs have even begun offering lacrosse-specific flash designs, catering to the growing demand from players and fans. This has led to a unique subculture within the tattoo industry, where artists must understand not only the technical aspects of tattooing but also the nuances of lacrosse culture and imagery.
Finding the Right Artist for Your Lacrosse Tattoo
When seeking an artist for a lacrosse-themed tattoo, consider the following:
- Look for portfolios featuring sports-related designs
- Seek recommendations from fellow players or lacrosse communities
- Discuss your ideas with multiple artists to find the best fit
- Consider the artist’s style and how it aligns with your vision
- Ensure the artist understands the significance of lacrosse elements
Lacrosse Tattoos as a Form of Team Bonding
For many lacrosse teams, getting tattoos together has become a bonding ritual. This shared experience can strengthen team unity and create lasting memories. Some teams opt for matching designs, while others choose individual tattoos that follow a common theme.
These group tattoo sessions often take place after significant events, such as winning a championship or completing a particularly challenging season. The resulting ink serves as a permanent reminder of the team’s accomplishments and the bonds formed through the sport.
Examples of Team Tattoo Traditions
- Championship rings or trophies
- Team mantras or slogans
- Stylized versions of team mascots
- Coordinates of the team’s home field
- Dates of significant victories
Honoring Lacrosse Legends Through Tattoos
Tattoos have also become a way for lacrosse enthusiasts to pay tribute to the sport’s greatest players and coaches. These designs often incorporate elements such as jersey numbers, famous quotes, or portraits of lacrosse icons.
One notable example is the recent trend of tattoos honoring Kobe Bryant, the basketball legend who was also a passionate supporter of lacrosse. While not strictly a lacrosse-themed tattoo, this crossover demonstrates the interconnectedness of sports culture and the power of tattoos to memorialize influential figures.
Notable Lacrosse Figures Commemorated in Tattoos
- Jim Brown: NFL Hall of Famer and lacrosse standout at Syracuse University
- Gary Gait: Considered one of the greatest lacrosse players of all time
- Paul Rabil: Professional player and co-founder of the Premier Lacrosse League
- Oren Lyons: Faithkeeper of the Turtle Clan and advocate for Native American lacrosse
- Bill Tierney: Legendary college coach with multiple national championships
The Role of Social Media in Lacrosse Tattoo Culture
Social media platforms have played a significant role in the spread of lacrosse tattoo culture. Instagram, in particular, has become a hub for players and fans to share their lacrosse-themed ink, using hashtags like #LacrosseTattoo and #LaxInk to connect with others in the community.
These online spaces have not only showcased the diversity of lacrosse tattoos but have also inspired new designs and trends within the sport. Many players now turn to social media for inspiration before getting their own lacrosse-themed tattoos.

The Future of Lacrosse Tattoo Culture
As lacrosse continues to grow in popularity, it’s likely that the trend of lacrosse-themed tattoos will evolve as well. New designs may emerge, reflecting changes in the sport and its culture. Additionally, advancements in tattoo technology could lead to more intricate and realistic lacrosse-themed designs.
One potential trend is the incorporation of augmented reality (AR) into lacrosse tattoos. This technology could allow tattoos to come to life when viewed through a smartphone camera, displaying animated lacrosse plays or additional information about the player or team.
Potential Future Trends in Lacrosse Tattoos
- Interactive AR tattoos
- Micro-tattoos featuring minimalist lacrosse designs
- Incorporation of new lacrosse league logos (e.g., PLL, NLL)
- Blending of lacrosse imagery with other sports or cultural elements
- Use of UV-reactive ink for hidden lacrosse designs
The Psychological Impact of Lacrosse Tattoos
Beyond their aesthetic appeal, lacrosse tattoos can have significant psychological effects on players and fans. For many, these permanent markings serve as a source of motivation, a reminder of personal growth, or a symbol of identity within the lacrosse community.
Research in sports psychology has shown that visual cues, such as tattoos, can trigger positive emotional states and boost performance. In this context, a lacrosse-themed tattoo might help a player enter a more focused mindset during games or training sessions.
Psychological Benefits of Lacrosse Tattoos
- Increased sense of belonging to the lacrosse community
- Enhanced motivation and commitment to the sport
- Visual reminders of personal goals and achievements
- Improved confidence and self-expression
- Coping mechanism for overcoming challenges in the sport
However, it’s important to note that the decision to get a tattoo should not be taken lightly. Players should carefully consider the long-term implications of their chosen design and placement, especially if they plan to pursue professional careers in lacrosse or other fields.
Lacrosse Tattoos and Personal Branding
For professional lacrosse players, tattoos can play a role in personal branding and marketability. Distinctive lacrosse-themed ink can help players stand out on and off the field, potentially leading to increased fan engagement and sponsorship opportunities.
Some players have leveraged their tattoos as part of their public image, using them in photo shoots, social media content, and merchandise designs. This integration of personal art and professional identity has become increasingly common in the world of sports, with lacrosse players following a trend seen in other athletic disciplines.
Ways Lacrosse Players Use Tattoos for Branding
- Incorporating tattoo designs into signature equipment lines
- Featuring tattoos prominently in promotional materials
- Using tattoo imagery in personal logos or social media branding
- Collaborating with tattoo artists for limited edition merchandise
- Sharing the stories behind their tattoos in interviews and documentaries
While personal branding through tattoos can be effective, it’s crucial for players to balance self-expression with professionalism, especially when representing teams or sponsors.
The Intersection of Lacrosse Tattoos and Native American Culture
Given lacrosse’s indigenous origins, many tattoos incorporate Native American themes or imagery. While these designs can be a way to honor the sport’s heritage, they also raise important questions about cultural appropriation and respect.
It’s crucial for players and fans considering Native American-inspired lacrosse tattoos to approach the subject with sensitivity and education. Consulting with indigenous lacrosse players or cultural experts can provide valuable insights and help ensure that tattoos are respectful and appropriate.
Guidelines for Respectful Native American-Inspired Lacrosse Tattoos
- Research the specific meanings and significance of symbols
- Avoid using sacred or ceremonial imagery
- Consider collaborating with Native American artists
- Focus on celebrating the sport’s heritage rather than stereotypical imagery
- Be prepared to educate others about the cultural significance of your tattoo
By approaching Native American-inspired lacrosse tattoos with respect and understanding, players and fans can help preserve and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the sport.
Lacrosse Tattoes: Show Us Your Ink!
Editor’s note: Welcome to the latest series on LAS. Every tattoo has a story and we want to hear yours. Send submissions to [email protected]
What do lacrosse and tattoos have in common? Most notably, both give us a surge of adrenaline and endorphins, something normal living doesn’t typically deliver in the quantities we desire. And of course, they both hurt. But as the saying goes, no pain-no gain. Tattoos have been around far longer than lacrosse though – just ask Ötzi the Iceman.
Between Europe and Asia, tattoos have been a part of human culture for over 50 centuries. It was only since their recent use in Polynesia that they have gained prevalance in western society. So what makes a tattoo so great in our minds today? Well, I recently got a tattoo (below), and man is it an experience. I have a couple now on both sides of my left ankle (also shown below) which are older but still symbolic to me.
The latest is the biggest one though, and dare I say most significant – because it is of the great state that I live in and have an ever growing respect for. It is definitely similar to the green heart in Oregon bumper stickers, with a little bit of a personal twist. But part of what makes those stickers so amazing, in my opinion, is how many of them you see, how many people love Oregon enough to show it like that. I do a reasonable amount of traveling, and have never seen such a united showing of a people’s love for the place they live and thrive. Not that I would know, but I don’t imagine you see a lot of Rhode Island stickers on the cars out there (though I would love to be proved wrong on this one…)
Oregon represents a foundation for all of my life in so many ways, including lacrosse. It is clear that it’s a foundation most of us are actively proud of and I decided to take it a step further and forever proclaim my participation in and love for this great piece of land.
W1LDF1RE’s Oregon love
To get into the philosophy of tattoos in general, I’ve thought for some time now that tattoos are a snapshot in time of what you feel without the knowledge of the future. They are like a tangible memory of what you were or what you thought, regardless of whether you regret it now or hold it as the best decision of your life. Though as my mom says, ‘can’t you just remember that without tarnishing your body?‘ Well yea, and we all could have all written poetry instead of playing contact sports, right? There is a significance attached to something that causes pain or euphoria, or better yet both. These are states of mind that cannot be attained through rational living. I truly believe there is a common thread between the desire to engage in the great game of lacrosse and to permanently and painfully mark your body in an artistic, sentimental way. I’ve seen many a lax player with sweet ink on the field and I won’t pretend that I didn’t consider how mine would look under a jersey! There is a story behind every tattoo and I’d like to think there is also a deeper meaning for us when it comes to getting inked.
W1LDF1RE’s other body art:
W1LDF1RE’s Earth
To kick off even more “Show Us Your Ink” here’s a sweet ink story from one of your other favorite LAS writers:
“I have a bit of ink and NOT ONE is a lax tattoo. I don’t know whether that makes me cool or lame. I guess it depends on your perspective. I did, however, get a really angry goldfish tattoo’d on my forearm when I was living in Australia and I was in Australia to play lacrosse, so I guess that counts? Probably not, but I’m just going to keep telling myself that it does.” -Connor Wilson

Now I challenge you, Lax Nation, to show me your ink and tell me why its on you forever! Share your stories with us and send an email to [email protected]
Rapper ‘The Game’ Unveils New Face Tattoo Dedicated to Kobe Bryant
Rapper “The Game” has unveiled a new face tattoo in honor of Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, who tragically died in a helicopter crash last month.
Real name Jayceon Terrell Taylor, the former G-Unit star took to Instagram on Wednesday to share snaps of his new ink, which features Bryant’s autograph behind a sideways number eight, symbolizing the infinity sign. Eight is one of Bryant’s former jersey numbers.
Taylor was also wearing a purple hoodie and a Lakers shirt over the top in the photos, which were captioned: “∞ F O R E V E R.”

A post shared by The Game (@losangelesconfidential) on Feb 12, 2020 at 10:59am PST
Taylor’s new tattoo isn’t the first tribute he has paid to Bryant, however.
On numerous dates of his latest tour, “Born 2 Rap,” Taylor has taken to the stage donning Bryant’s jersey, while he has also planned a song in his honor, according to TMZ.
Immediately after news of Bryant’s death broke, he also posted an emotional tribute on Instagram alongside a photo of them both shaking hands.
“I’m heartbroken….. hurt,” it read. “This is truly a sad day for Los Angeles, the game of basketball & the entire world. My heart is with Vanessa, those beautiful baby girls & the immediate family.
“Kobe, man….. thank you for everything over the years, especially the advice, short talks with my boys & all that you’ve contributed. I love you brother, you & GiGi rest well together #MambaMentalityForever.”
Bryant, 41, and his daughter Gianna, who also died in the crash, were buried in a private funeral in Orange County on February 7.

Referred to as “The Creator’s Game” by the Native American Iroquois, lacrosse originated in Pennsylvania and New York, quickly reaching the tribes of Canada, and its popularity has endured to this day.
Originally played as part of a ceremonial ritual, lacrosse enthusiasts harbor a similar devotion to the sport.
Lacrosse tattoos are, unsurprisingly, elegant inspiration for tattoo art. Whether it’s an intricately inked lacrosse stick reminiscent of the vintage models from the 1950’s and even as far back as the 1800’s, or complex scenes incorporating the landscape and players, the lacrosse tattoo goes above and beyond the standard sport emblem, invoking a history and aesthetic few pastimes can match.
Even the letters LAX in bold print announce your allegiance to the world, and few will mistake your proficiency at the game. Because of its classical roots in both native and Western cultures, lacrosse speaks of the connections we share and pass along in our travels, as well as the significant ties that link us to those we would otherwise consider ourselves separate from.
Whether you are a present player or nostalgic devotee, your lacrosse tattoo speaks of your love for a game that tests both the mind and body, and likewise celebrates both.
The lacrosse player and fan is a man who isn’t afraid to test himself, both on the field and off. Wherever and however you wear it, these lacrosse tattoo design ideas let the world know that you play for keeps, and in impeccable style.

If the person with the advantage loses the next point, then advantage is lost and the players return to deuce and try again. If the one of the players is calling out the score then if he/she has the advantage then that player announces “ad in” or more formally “advantage in”. If the score announcer’s opponent has the advantage, then the announcement is “ad out” or “advantage out”. Follow all of that …?

Tattoo Verbal (LAX) – November Project
That’s correct, TATTOO VERBAL. LA, our tattoo verbal to you is that if we reach 300 members by any given workout by November 11th that we will get a November Project Tattoo. It’s something that has been done before in other tribes like Boston, NYC, Denver, and the likes.
Here’s the thing, it may just seem like we’re hopping on the band wagon and willy nilly following suit, but I’ll let you in on a little secret. This shit means a lot to Steve and I. There’s reasons as to why we get up at the butt crack of dawn to see your sleepy eyes get wider and soon stoked to be awake and alive in this city. We believe in the good of all of you and the all of you’s who still have yet to step foot in the Hollywood Bowl at 6:27 in the morning. We want to make this city a better and brighter place with more interactions. Less snark, more smiles. More strangers, more friends. Healthier beings who throw their positive outlook into this expanse to make it one beaming smile factory. We want to see you grow more empowered and so confident that you can say ” Fuck yeah! I’m ready to tackle any day head on and give it my all with failure or success.”
I have no tattoos on my body, a temple some of you may put it. Steve on the other hand as a pokemon like turtle on his bicep so we know he’s game. Joking aside, a tattoo has got to have meaning to me. To put it simple this shit truly does mean something to me. It’s shifted my outlook, has made me healthier and I only want to share that with you.
To put it simple I look at all you people and I know that you are capable of so much. You may already know that, you may not, but it’s ultimately up to you to accept and realize that you truly do deserve THIS! The other people who have yet to experience November Project deserve it too. It’s up to you to share and allow these folks to experience this in the city. You have the opportunity every day to make this city a better place. You have a choose to share a smile with a stranger, interact and possibly share this goodness. You have the opportunity to get not only yourself fitter, but those around you. Don’t miss out on that!

24 LAX players leave tour with team tattoos
From foreskin shots to tattoos – AULC had their rowdiest tour to date in Dublin
If you’ve ever been into Liquid VIP on Wednesday night you’ll know that sports teams don’t just drink – they skite. Hard.
Where some students down, they strawpedo. Where others streak, they bathe naked in the sinks.
They are, and always have been, in a league of their own.
But this year, the lacrosse club outdid even their fellow sports teams.
The men’s and women’s LAX teams have just returned home from their Dublin tour. The stories include:
– A near-arrest after a McDive (diving over the counter in McDonald’s).
– Giant spooning mid-game on the field.
– The theft of a Bristol boy’s trousers (she gave him his wallet and keys back but wore the trousers home).
-Foreskin shots.
But the majority came back with more than just stories…
Some have come back with different hair.
James Thorburn: “I went on tour a boy, I came back a slim shady.”
James’ parents weren’t so impressed: “They just looked at me and said, “And you’re going to be a doctor.””
Numerous have new piercings.
“Tour was indescribably amazing.” – Hannah Blackford
Some are missing an eyebrow.
Emma Lister
“It was scavenger hunt list, and I didn’t want to lose so I thought I’d take one for the team and shave my eyebrow off… turns out we did lose anyway. My mum said: “I thought you had more balls than this”. Was she expecting me to shave off both?” – Emma Lister
…and 24 have come back with tattoos.
“What a week, Rachel. Too much too young.” – Megan Burgoyne, Captain of AUWLC 1sts.
“Just a few naughty pints.” – Andrew Rogers
Kit number
“Once again AUWLC showed we are rasher, bigger and better when it comes to skiting than the rest!” – Emily Hudson, Social for AUWLC.
This girl went one step further, getting the men’s captain’s signature.
This is all due to an impressive Scavenger Hunt – other things on the list included shaving your head for 110 points, eat a stranger’s food for 15, and get a boy’s boxers for 15:

The club is only four years old, but growing ever stronger and larger. This year, the women’s President Megan Burgoyne was picked for the Scotland Lacrosse Home International Squad, proving the club is producing talent as well as phenomenal drinking skills.
Dublinfest is an annual Lacrosse tournament attracting teams from all over the UK. Ali Mog from the Men’s team and Catriona from the Women’s organised the club’s attendance to great success:
Catriona said: “One of the aspects of the scavenger hunt was to ‘do something crazy’, So we ate a few chillis but didn’t think that was quite doing the job. So I sent the freshers on a pigeon hunt. They had to catch a live pigeon to release into the hostel, kind of like a romantic dove moment.
“But being freshers, and drunk on Guinness, they misinterpreted the instructions … And instead of coming back with a live pigeon, they brought a dead one in a fishing net. But there was so much rowdiness the hostel staff didn’t even notice.”
Aberdeen’s LAX teams won the social trophy and came second overall in the tournament – even more impressive when you consider the hangovers they were playing through.
They even had a tour funnel named Jackie, who was a menace according to Captain Megan:
“Jackie 3.0 was not kind to anyone, even the old girls didn’t escape her clutches.”
Winning the social trophy.
They are swiftly becoming a sports club to be reckoned with and show no signs of slowing down, attracting more members every year.
With tours like this, we can see why.

Until next year!
Saline Tattoo Removal is a Game Changer for Brown Skin
My most adventurous beauty choices to date happened because I woke up and just…felt like doing it. This has included everything from wearing pastel lipstick, a pretty tame switch-up, to chopping off my hair and documenting the entire process on Facebook Live; not so tame. I have also done things with less-than-desirable consequences, like letting a friend give me a hand-and-poke tattoo in his bedroom on an otherwise boring summer night. Now, I am in the process of reversing my alcohol-fueled (#cringe) ink job with saline tattoo removal and actually learned a lot in the process.
Up until almost a year ago when I started the removal process, I had no idea that there were even options outside of the traditional laser. These aren’t things we think about when getting a tattoo because we assume it will become a permanent part of our body. Au contraire, life happens and we find ourselves Googling the cheapest and easiest way to make it all disappear (okay, just me?). In my case, I was lucky enough to already have help at my fingertips; or should I say, brows.
Kendra Bray/Better Brows NYC.
Microblading is the one treatment I have a years-long investment in because one, my God-given ones are as the cool kids say, “le struggle,” and two, the person who does them is actually really good at it. So when Kendra Bray, founder of Better Brows & Beauty in NYC, told me she was thinking of adding tattoo removal to her menu, I happily volunteered to be her guinea pig; especially since she explained that it would be done sans laser.
Now this isn’t to say that laser removal should be avoided like the plague. It’s just not for me. I watched my mom go through the process and every time without fail, she complained about how painful it continued to be. Perhaps I deserve a bit of pain for making such an ill-advised decision, but it doesn’t have to be that bad, right? With being said, here’s everything I learned about this underrated alternative and why it’s easier to endure than laser.
It’s Not As Painful
For one, the process is very different, but just as effective. “Both methods require multiple sessions and allowing the skin to heal in between each session,” says Bray. “Laser removal emits light into the skin and different lights are used to remove different colors of ink.” On the other hand, saline removal is a bit more ‘lax.
Courtesy of Author.
“First the skin needs to be properly cleaned and disinfected. Then the needle is dipped into the solution and pushed into the inked skin,” says Bray. In fact, it’s practically identical to the tattoo process except again, you’re pushing saline solution into the skin instead of ink. If I had to describe the pain level, I would say it’s about the same as getting a tattoo–how ironic–as the needle makes teeny pricks over the skin. (You can also ask for numbing cream beforehand if your pain tolerance is low.) I actually started to experience less pain after a couple appointments which ultimately motivated me to continue the process. Bray notes that any permanent cosmetics machine can power the needle pen, but it’s ultimately the artist’s choice. In her case, it’s a Spektra Xion S machine.
It Still Takes Time
After the solution has been taken over the skin a few times and the area has been bandaged, old ink begins to draw to the surface. However, don’t expect it to disappear overnight. Like laser removal, Bray says the process–about 30 minutes in total–has to be repeated multiple times with downtime in-between each one. “The skin is left to heal for a minimum of 6 weeks before another session can be executed,” she says. You can also expect some scabbing (see below), which you should avoid picking as long as possible since that could leave scarring.

Sunscreen Will Make or Break the Healing Process
A professional artist like Bray will also send you home with after-care gel after each session, in addition to noting the importance of sunscreen and general hygiene to ward off bacteria. In fact, it was this process that motivated me to wear sunscreen on my body outside of the beach because I didn’t want a tan to effect the skin tone around my fading ink. That brings me to another game-changing benefit of saline removal.
Kendra Bray/Better Brows NYC.
A Game-Changer for Brown Skin
Bray agrees that this method is especially beneficial for brown skin because it doesn’t cause hyper- or hypo-pigmentation like a laser machine. Because the solution is being directly injected into the inked area, it isn’t disturbing the skin around it as much. It’s also generally more affordable, though Bray says it’s important to remember that timing depends on the size, age, and saturation of pigment in your tattoo. If your ink requires more work, that means you may be spending more money.
Size Matters
Based on my experience, I would say that saline removal is best-suited to small- or medium-sized tattoos that haven’t been on your skin for more than a couple years. For instance, mine is pretty small and just a couple years old, so around 4 sessions should suffice. Otherwise, removing it could take years and a whole lot of sessions, thus defeating the purpose of going with something that’s supposed to be more convenient.
The moral of my story should be, “think before you ink.” But mistakes are bound to happen, so if you regret getting your ex’s initials tattooed on your wrist, consider going the saline route for peace of mind and quicker recovery.
90,000 “45 manager tattoos” in 15 minutes. Summary of Batyrev’s book
1. First, learn to play by the rules, then come up with your own
Recently, there is a popular opinion: to be successful, you do not need to study, follow some rules, delve into the laws by which business is done. This opinion is wrong! Before creating your own rules, you need to study those that already exist and learn to play by them.
Some people who have achieved phenomenal success do not really have a college degree. But there are few such people and they are rather the exception than the rule.
Continued after advertising:
If there is no education certificate, this does not mean that the person did not study. Any development needs a foundation.
2. Read, comprehend. Train the main muscle
The brain is the same muscle. For her to work well, she needs to be trained. Reading is great exercise.
If the brain is not trained or if destructive stimuli are used (low-quality literature, some programs on television), then it begins to degrade. It is important not only to read, but also to comprehend, delve into what you read.
3. Rejecting the wrong strategies is a manifestation of strength
Some people think that abandoning the chosen strategy is a manifestation of weakness. But this is not the case. People who, with their last strength, hold on to the once chosen strategy, even realizing that nothing good will come of it, is a pitiful sight.
It is important to find the courage to abandon the wrong strategy and direct your strength and energy in the right direction. This is the choice of strong people, not those who work “for the public” and pretend to be a victim.
4. What is obvious to you is not obvious to others
This truth is true not only when a manager communicates with his subordinates, but also in other areas of life, for example, when communicating with clients. Each person has his own baggage of knowledge, his own personal experience.
Briefly exists thanks to advertising:
What seems obvious to one may not be known to another. However, he is not always ready to show this by asking clarifying questions. Therefore, for effective work, it is worth taking the time and making sure that understanding is reached even on those issues that seem elementary to you.
5. Look for the strong, the weak will stick themselves
The weak are a kind of “complaining vampire.” There is no need to look for them, they find themselves and strive to “infect” everyone with their mood. You have to look for the strong. But in order to communicate with the strong, you need to interest them. They must want to communicate with you. You need to look up to the strong and take an example from them.
6. Everyone can be forgiven for a mistake (under certain circumstances)
Anyone can make a mistake. Everyone can be forgiven if they are willing to put in the effort to correct the mistake, restore their reputation and not repeat this mistake in the future.
It is necessary to forgive those who have realized their guilt.
7. Don’t do work for subordinates
An experienced department manager sees the mistakes of his subordinates, understands what they are doing wrong. He is often tempted to do the work for them.
Continued after advertising:
This is an error. Employees have to do their job on their own, otherwise they stop making efforts and develop their skills. And if the manager gets sick or goes on vacation, then the work will stop altogether.
8. Don’t negotiate with terrorists
Terrorists are people who use threats to achieve their goals. As a rule, these are employees who are doing quite important work for the company. At some point, they realize that the organization cannot function without them, and they begin to use it.
Once you give in to these people, it never ends. In addition, such employees are unreliable, because they can fail at the most crucial moment. Negotiating with such people is not worth it, you need to get rid of them immediately.
9. Clients are everything
This is a fairly well-known truth – the basis of any business. For the sake of the client, it is worth changing your schedule, your plans, sacrificing time and energy. Even a simple courier is a representative of the client and therefore deserves respect.
Briefly exists thanks to advertising:
10. And even in a pub you are a manager!
A manager must organize for his employees not only work, but also leisure. Even in the pub he is looked at as a manager, so he must keep himself in check.
His task is to collect money from employees to pay for the event and send each employee home after a corporate party. In general, a manager is a manager whenever and wherever his employees are.
11.Do not work with morally disabled
To achieve success, a person must believe in himself and strive for something. If he consciously does not want to change anything in his life, you will not help him in any way, just waste your time and energy.
Trying to force a person to grow against his will is impossible. Don’t work with mentally disabled people.
12. Call things by their proper names
You need to talk about problems directly – not subtly hinting, but calling things by their proper names.A person may be offended, but such straightforwardness makes it clear what is good and what is bad.
13. Do what you preach
To require others to follow certain rules, you must follow them yourself. The manager is a public person, so if he does not follow what he preaches, it will certainly be noticed.
The order begins with the leader. If he does not come to work on time, then the subordinates, most likely, will not do it.
14.The flock copies the leader
“Indirect education” is much stronger and more serious than direct control. The rules and values that are important to the manager become close to his subordinates – they begin to resemble their leader.
If a manager wants to see himself from the outside, he just needs to look at others. His mood and attitude to work directly affects the productivity and mood of the team. Therefore, you should always work with a smile and enthusiasm.
15.Good should be rewarded and evil punished. Always
This principle should always work. There should be no exceptions, no forgiveness, no individual approach to any particular department or employee. Only in such a situation are the rules clear, otherwise employees understand that this is not necessary, because there are exceptions.
16. Teach – heal – soak
Three stages in the relationship between a manager and an employee.
- To teach – to explain to a person what tasks they face and what rules should be played. If the employee still does not cope with their tasks, proceed to the next stage.
- Treat – find out why the task was not completed and try to resolve the situation. If the task is not completed the first time, it can be considered an accident, if the second time – a coincidence, but the third time – a deliberate act. After that, proceed to the third stage.
- Wash – apply sanctions: reprimand, deprive of bonuses and possibly even fire an employee.
17. You need to develop not weaknesses, but strengths
Each person has strengths and weaknesses. Some people try their best to develop their weaknesses. In the author’s opinion, this is the wrong approach – you need to develop your strengths.
But what to do with weaknesses? You need to try “not to get into situations where you can expose your shortcomings.” But if there is an opportunity to pull up in any area, it must be used.
18.The strong only respect strength
There are people with whom you need to speak only in the language of strength. Strength is not fists, but communication style. Some people cannot get through with logic and arguments, they only understand the language of force.
19. Only like-minded people strengthen the team
There is an opinion that a good team should have people with different points of view, since diversity makes the team strong.
The author does not agree with this. When working with people who have a different opinion, you have to spend a lot of effort on persuading them. But with like-minded people you can do great things, directing all your energy for the benefit of the project.
20. Do not discuss decisions made with subordinates
At the meeting, the boss invited employees to discuss an issue on which he had already made a decision. When employees found another solution, the boss disagreed with them.
As a result, the employees had to agree with the boss, if only this meeting was finally over. To avoid such situations, you should not discuss a decision that has already been made.An unmotivated refusal in this case will badly affect your reputation.
21. Recognition of the specificity of death is similar to
Often companies have a division that is considered “specific” or “elite” and are less demanding. As a result, employees of such a department relax and do not strive for high results.
22. Praise people
Praise is a motivation and coordinate system for employees to help them understand what is right and what is wrong.Praise employees for doing the right thing, even if the result is not achieved and they will not be afraid to act.
23. Do not count on human gratitude
The author advises to adhere to the principle “do good and throw it into the water”, because very often people turn out to be ungrateful. You need to be ready for this and help, first of all, relatives, who will be really grateful and understand in case of refusal.
No gratitude should be expected from strangers.Having done a good thing, step aside. Anyone who wants to thank will do it without reminders.
24. Protect the interests of your manager
This is not easy and not typical of our mentality. But if subordinates begin to argue and disobey, the leader has to spend time and effort on persuasion and arguments, which is ineffective.
Even if you disagree with the leader, try to understand him. He definitely has reasons and arguments for the decisions he makes.Try to listen to him, understand and support him.
25. A team is created only by a common doing
A common cause can unite a team much better than team building. A common goal unites the team, there is a willingness to help each other.
26. A manager must be extreme
Being extreme means taking responsibility for yourself, making decisions and taking responsibility for them. This is what the manager should be ready for.
Continuously sending tasks to someone else is ineffective. The manager must be able to resolve issues himself. If the manager is only engaged in sending questions, then he is an extra link in the system. The ability to be extreme, to work as if there is no one behind you, distinguishes a good manager from a bad one.
27. Time is more important than ideality
Often before starting a project, people check, study, analyze something for a long time. Because of this, the launch is delayed for a long time.
Even if not all points are taken into account, it is much more important to be the first to declare yourself. In business, as a rule, the winner is not the one who thought everything over and calculated, but the one who took the risk and did it first.
28. People will do when it is easier to do than not to do
You can many times call people to some action, persuade them. But it is more effective to create conditions in which it will be easier to do the desired action than NOT to do it.
To carry out their duties, people must have not only the necessary resources, but also the “whip” to ensure the performance of the work.
29. Grow people – this is your main goal
Bad managers are so afraid of losing their place that they are ready to work with weak employees.Good leaders develop and raise their subordinates, because people are the main capital.
The value of a manager is measured by the number of employees he has “grown”. Perhaps one of them will eventually take his place, but a good manager does not hold on to his position. Due to the fact that there is a replacement, it can grow by itself.
30. Any idea of yours can be questioned
Even an idea that seems ideal to you can be questioned by your colleagues. You need to be ready for such a turn in order to confirm your position with arguments.
Expect sharp questions and doubts. Your ideas will always be resisted, because everyone is afraid of change.
31. Nafig analytics during the crisis
Analytics is a look into the past. If a company or a division finds itself in a critical situation, it is no time for the past. Do not look back, but take a step forward.
32. There is no justice
There are people who see injustice everywhere. However, the justice they speak of is manipulation. In fact, they are concerned with personal interests.
There is no social justice in a commercial organization, because the one who works harder, brings more profit, makes more significant decisions gets more. And the fighters for justice are the “Reds” from 1917.
33. First we struggle with the consequences, then with the causes
Many people struggle with the causes, not the consequences: they study the causes, develop special programs to combat them.In fact, you first need to deal with what has already happened. And then only understand the reason and prevent recurrence.
34. Everyone is responsible for himself
Fazil Iskander wrote: “Real responsibility is only personal. The man blushes alone. ” Everyone is responsible for himself! He builds his own life, sets goals for himself and chooses what they will be.
Responsibility is not a “burden”, not a “willingness to take on someone else’s obligations.” Responsibility = Action!
The task of the manager is to create conditions for the work of subordinates, the task of subordinates is to complete the task of the manager. In this case, the manager is not responsible for subordinates.
35. Coaching in business is evil
The author believes that coaching is evil. Coaching protects the interests of his client (employee), not the interests of the business.
Most employees are always dissatisfied with something. The coach focuses on problems and grievances. And to solve the problem, the employee is often asked to change the field of activity, and the company loses a valuable specialist.
36. Be consistent: they will start to squeeze you
Any rules, regulations and prescriptions, even those that were discussed with employees, will be constantly tested for strength.Employees will try to get around them, find weak points, try not to fulfill them.
It is important to be consistent and avoid breaking the rules. Stick to the chosen strategy, or you will be broken, and everything will remain the same as it was before.
37. Don’t believe people of dreams, believe people of goals
People of dreams are those who have a dream. They do not take any action to implement it, but only lament that they are failing, and rarely associate their activities with dreams.
People of the goal know for sure that the current activity gradually brings them closer to the goal. People of the target always know what they want and what they will do for this. They don’t need to be controlled and motivated.
38. Any ambiguity is interpreted as worse for you.
Any vacuum is filled with a negative. If employees do not receive enough information, they begin to assume the worst: “others are paid more”, “everything is bad”, “we will all be fired soon” …
To avoid ambiguity, keep employees informed. You can place boxes for anonymous letters around the office so that anyone can ask a question directly to the head of the company.
39. Any of your words can become a task
Even a request or call thrown in passing can be perceived by an employee as a task and put a lot of effort to complete it. If no one noticed his work, this can be a real demotivation. In order not to get into an uncomfortable situation, remember that any of your words can become a motivation for action.
40. A single conceptual apparatus improves controllability
The more people have in common, the better they understand each other. “Single conceptual apparatus” increases the controllability of the team.
To create such a device, create a list of films and books common for all employees. Having mastered it, people will speak the same language, use the same symbols, idioms and catchphrases.
41. Discipline is the mother of victory
The author claims that some methods of foreign motivation (free schedule, breaks in work, loyalty to lateness) do not work in Russia.Being late is a “litmus test of your attitude to your current job.” A person who cannot organize himself will treat any task set before him in the same way.
It is necessary to demand discipline not only from subordinates, but also from oneself. Discipline is the most important factor in the existence of an enterprise in a competitive market.
42. Change the weak to the strong
Looking at weak employees who do not fulfill the plan, work without diligence and energy, but remain in their position and do not face any sanctions, the strong begin to think that their “strength” is not for anyone needed.Instead of focusing on the strong, leaders spend time on the weak, finding reasons to leave them. And the weak work worse and worse every month, which is why the company’s results deteriorate. For high results, you need to focus on the “strong”.
43. Do more than you need
Any diligent employee sooner or later achieves results that are maximum for his position. Then he either stops and is content with what has been achieved, or begins to do more than is expected of him.
By doing more than expected, a person creates an advantage for himself over the rest. As a rule, such people become managers.
44. Don’t be afraid when you are alone. Be Afraid When You Are Zero
Don’t be afraid to act, fight or lose. Employees want to work with a strong manager, but they cannot change him. Only he himself is capable of performing feats, solving problems, rewarding good and punishing evil, raising other managers … being strong! In order to be loved, you need to be a hero.
45. Always remember: one day you will be fired
The thought “I can be fired today” motivates and spurs me on, makes me tune in to a working mood. Our time is limited and we have to catch everything.
Today is not a rehearsal for real life, this is life. Therefore, you need to love your job, value life and prioritize correctly.

Book 45 manager tattoos summarized.
Book 45 manager tattoos consists of 45 chapters. The title of each chapter is a tattoo left over from a life lesson learned. Is it enough to learn these rules to become an effective leader? Not. Rules work if you apply them rather than just reading the text.
Maxim Batyrev – About the author
Maxim Batyrev – famous Russian manager, winner of the “Commercial Director of the Year” and “Manager of the Year” awards, author of the bestseller “45 manager tattoos”.
Maxim’s career is a vivid example of brilliant vertical growth. He rose from an ordinary specialist to a top manager of a large Russian company. The publishing house “Kommersant” included Maxim in the TOP-1000 of the best managers in Russia.
Manager’s tattoos
Tattoo 1. First, learn to play by the rules, then come up with your own
The author is convinced that you should always learn to play by the rules and not look for “magic buttons” for success. You cannot earn a million at once if you have not learned how to earn a ruble. You cannot become a director if you have not led a department. He was taught this by boxing.
As a fourteen-year-old boy and inspired by the movie “Rocky”, he dreamed of fame as a boxer, but in training he had to run around the ring, developing a breathing apparatus. Once he objected to the coach and got into sparring with an experienced partner, he quickly fizzled out and remembered for the rest of his life that first you need to understand the nature of the rules and the motives for which they were adopted, and only then come up with your own.
Tattoo 2. Read, comprehend. Train the main muscle
According to Maxim Batyrev, most of his personal achievements are associated with reading books and subsequent reflection, which quickly turns into actions. He is convinced that books are investments that return. If you want strong arms, swing the muscles in your arms. If you want strong legs, run and squat. If you want to think quickly, make decisions quickly and make discoveries, you need to pump the most important muscle in the body – the brain.
Tattoo 3. Rejecting the wrong strategies is a manifestation of strength
It is believed that deviating from the intended strategies is a weak position. The author fundamentally disagrees with this. You need to be able to change strategy, turn off the path, look for other patterns of behavior, try something new, sometimes step back if you cannot achieve what you want in the usual way. Changing strategies, including abandoning a previously chosen one, can lead to great results.
Rejecting the wrong strategy means exercising common sense, taking control of the situation, putting on the brakes in time and winning in the long term.
Tattoo 4. What is obvious to you, not obvious to others
This tattoo appeared on the very first day of Maxim’s work at Chto Do Consult and later became Rule No. 1 of his management style. Before that, he had not worked for a day in a commercial organization, but then he had to immediately get involved in the work process, about which he had not the slightest idea. Go to negotiations with a client, fill out a report, issue an invoice, send it by fax … He was ashamed to ask clarifying questions, but his intuition let him down at that moment. The first working day almost became the last.
The rule “What is obvious to you is not obvious to others” he considers important for the leader of any link.
Tattoo 5. Look for the strong, the weak will stick themselves
Thousands of people will walk around you and complain about life. They want you to help them solve their problems or give them moral support. Better yet, you become like-minded people. It’s hard to do, and easy to complain.
Maxim tells a story about two colleagues: the first was constantly whining about how bad everything was, and when the boss threatened them with dismissal, if there were no sales by the end of the month, he immediately gave up.Maxim turned for help to another colleague, a successful sales manager, and he so charged him with vitality, positive energy and success that Maxim brought the client on the last day of the probationary period. And he stayed to work in the company for many years.
The author is convinced: meetings with the strong must be sought, they must be sought, one should be equal to them and take an example. The weak will find you on their own.
Tattoo 6. Everyone can be forgiven for a mistake (under certain circumstances)
Probably, every person has cases for which one is truly ashamed. The author also had such a case. During the negotiations, competitors offered a potential client a big discount. Maxim could offer similar conditions only by violating strict internal rules. Yielding to the temptation and pressure of his leader, he did it and signed the agreement. But six months later, the head of the company became aware of this deal and other similar ones, committed by Batyrev’s colleagues. Everyone was fired. Except for Maxim. He was the only one who believed that he himself made a mistake, did not blame others and was ready to do everything to correct this mistake.Since that moment, Maxim Batyrev has been protecting the interests of business for many years, fanatically monitors compliance with the very rules and regulations and makes every employee “from the cradle” know and follow these standards.
Tattoo 7. Don’t do work for subordinates
Performing work for subordinates is a classic mistake of all managers who “grew up from below.” The main recommendation: find the “middle ground” by being able to give up previous experience. At the same time, do not lose it, it can come in handy at any moment.
Tattoo 8. Do not enter into negotiations with terrorists
Any employee who threatens you in any way can be considered a terrorist in business. Special lovers of such threats are units or personnel with unique functionality.
Tattoo 9. Clients – our everything
Any business depends on clients, but not everyone remembers it. The company in which the author worked for many years is super client-oriented. And this is the great merit of its General Director, Pavel Mikhailovich Gorislavtsev. If the question is urgent and concerns the client, then you can interrupt any conversation, meeting, and even a meeting of the company’s board.
Tattoo 10. And even in a pub you are a manager!
The behavior of a manager in a drinking establishment is a broad topic. Key point: the manager must organize the work and leisure of his employees, if he is around. Starting with the control of joint payment of the bill and ending with the organization of delivery of all participants to their homes at the end of the evening. The author highlights the main points.
– When everyone pays for themselves, it’s okay. Payment disciplines people and makes them more careful about the choice of food and drinks. The solution is simple: place the first order for everyone and pay the total bill immediately. Then everyone can order anything in addition to themselves.
– No talking like “Until six I am your boss, and now I am a drinking companion and friend.” You are the commander. And the reputation you have built over the years can be ruined in one evening. As long as your employees are around, you work.
– There are two types of bosses: those who are respected by the relatives of employees, and those who are hated. If you want to get into the second category, then be sure to have a booze on payday.
And one more thing: never enter into negotiations about salaries, career advancement and other such matters in public festivities. Say that you are ready to return to the question tomorrow. 80% of employees do not come the next day.
Tattoo 11. Do not work with moral invalids
One of the most important tattoos of the author – never work with people if they themselves do not consciously want to change and believe in themselves.
Tattoo 12. Call a spade a spade
Many managers are afraid to tell an employee that he is not performing well. And when it comes to dismissal, they throw a bag of reproaches on the employee’s head. This is the wrong approach. People should clearly understand what the leader wants from them and what the leader is not satisfied with. It is important to give feedback: praise when there is a reason, and not be silent when the results are unsatisfactory. This creates a certain coordinate system. It is clear what is good and what is bad.And with a coordinate system, it’s always easier to work.
Such conversations are never easy, and there is always a risk that a person will be offended, but will be transformed literally the next day. Remember the importance of calling a spade a spade, it helps you make the right decisions.
Tattoo 13. Do what you preach
All talk about double standards begins with the fact that the leader himself does not follow the rules that are required from employees. And this is not just ugly, but truly destructive. You can’t force employees to read books if you don’t even open them yourself. You cannot force an employee to comply with the dress code if you yourself wear jeans. You cannot force an employee to come on time if you yourself are late for work. The boss is always judged. Words should not be at odds with deeds, otherwise you will be considered a weak leader or worse, a liar.
Tattoo 14. The flock copies the leader
Don’t expect it to be otherwise. We are talking about the so-called indirect education, expressed in micro-emotions, energy, attitude to tasks.Employees, based on your emotions and reactions, are able to identify important and unimportant things for you. And what is important to you is important to them, because you are their leader. You give them the standard of correct behavior, the standard of morality, the standard of willpower, the standard of beliefs.
The leader always changes the culture and trends in his unit, because the pack copies the leader. If you want to understand what kind of manager you are, look at the employees who have been working with you for more than six months.
Tattoo 15. Good should be rewarded and evil punished.Always
The author considers this principle to be one of the most important in the work of a manager. Employees test the manager for strength on a daily basis. Any violation you deliberately unnoticed is the first sign that “all windows will be broken” soon.
Tattoo 16. Teach – heal – soak
“Teach – heal – soak” in fact – the stages of work with each employee to complete any task. By and large, all leaders are divided into three types: each prefers a certain action.Maxim suggests using the tattoo in stages:
– Learn. As smart as your employee may seem, it is vital for you to make sure that he understands the task the way it needs to be. Remember tattoo # 4? What is obvious to you is not obvious to others.
– Treat. This stage begins if the rules are agreed upon, the employee understands the task correctly, but still does not complete it. How many times to treat? Suppose the first time is an accident, the second is a coincidence. But the third is a pattern. Warn on the second case of “treatment” that it is the last. And then something unpleasant will happen.
– Soak. Punish an employee. It can be anything, as long as the subordinate experienced personal suffering and it never occurred to him not to complete the task. This stage, in fact, is the only one where your power is needed. In all other cases, it is better not to use it, but to negotiate normally with people.
Always act exclusively in this order, and everything in your managerial life will be perfect!
Tattoo 17.You need to develop not weaknesses, but strengths
When you see an example of a successful person who has achieved career heights that you still only dream of, there is a great risk of copying some features, doing it literally. But the fact that one is his chip, the other is not his strongest side. Often this behavior looks unnatural and looks like a clownery. Instead, focus on your strengths and focus on developing them. What to do with weaknesses? The author advises to minimize losses (not to get into situations where you can expose your shortcomings).
Tattoo 18. The strong only respect strength
Do not work with the strong at all or become stronger than them. There is no third. In an undeclared power war, negotiation often fails. And then it is necessary to demonstrate strength, to rebuff the unmanageable employee and put him in his place. Be adamant and draw a clear line between what you should be doing and what you will never tolerate. Your employee can do what he wants and where he wants, but not with you. Here you are the leader, and if opinions differ, he will have to take your side. Not ready – let him leave right now.
Tattoo 19. Only like-minded people strengthen the team
The author is convinced: a team of people with the same views on business, results, approaches to work, and most importantly – on common goals is many times stronger and more productive. When working with people who have a different opinion, you will constantly expend energy to overcome resistance. Even if there is only one such person, he will slow down the whole team.Work with like-minded people! It’s more effective this way. Checked!
Tattoo 20. Do not discuss decisions made with subordinates
One of the worst sins of a leader is trying to discuss a decision with his subordinates. Resist temptation. You may not find support for a fresh idea from the team, but the job is already done. This does not add credibility to the leader.
Tattoo 21. Recognition of the specificity of death is similar to
Do you have a “specificity” of your business? Do you work in a “specific” department? Forget about it.The client absolutely always wants the best quality for less money. Both the VIP client and the smallest one. Even if he has nothing to compare with, he still wants cheaper than you offer. Each of the clients also wants guarantees and instant solutions to their issues. And the specificity has nothing to do with it.
Recognition of the specifics is akin to surrender: you will always have an excuse and the temptation to shift the blame for any of your failures to some special circumstance that others do not have. From his own experience, Maxim Batyrev was convinced that only those departments and companies in which the stereotype of “specificity” was eliminated are chosen from bad results.
Tattoo 22. Praise people
Praise is building a coordinate system. The employee will focus on what they are being praised for, whether you like it or not. The main thing is to praise people only for what you yourself think is right. And do this until the employees themselves learn to praise themselves for the things that you think are right. This rule works not only in business, but in any new situation where you learn new things. Everyone wants to do what they are praised for, and try less to do what they are catastrophically unable to do.Plus, praise is a totally free tool to motivate people. Use it!
Tattoo 23. Do not count on human gratitude
One of the principles of Maxim Batyrev is to return people good, good deeds and investments that they invest. He helps his managers who spend resources on him, parents who put a lot of energy into him, subordinates who achieve results not only for themselves, but also for the company. He spends time, effort, energy, but does not expect gratitude, “does good and throws it into the water.”
Tattoo 24. A team is created only by common work
Teambuildings and corporate events, according to the author, are not particularly effective in building an effective team. Distributing paints and brushes to all employees and painting a two-hundred-meter fence together is much more effective for building a team than playing bowling together. Because doing together always implies the participation of everyone, a personal area of responsibility, a visible personal result of labor and a visible overall result.
Tattoo 25. The manager must be extreme
Most of all employees value managers for their ability to personally resolve issues. It is the ability to work as if there is no one behind you, to make maximum personal efforts to resolve issues that distinguishes a good manager from a bad one.
At the end of 2008, the financial crisis broke out, and Maxim’s company had a hard time. In order not to give people despair, he again began to communicate with clients, showing by personal example: even at such a time, you can sell, and a crisis is not only threats, but also opportunities. This motivated the employees tremendously. At the end of the year, they had 1.5 times less sales than planned. Their competitors had no sales at all.
Tattoo 26. Time is more important than ideality
In business, it is much more often not the one who thought over the details and better prepared that wins, but the one who took the risk and did it first. Let it be “crooked”, let it be not fully thought out, let the mistakes be corrected along the way, let it be necessary to apologize to the clients, but it is vital for you to get ahead of everyone and then loudly declare your triumph.Otherwise, you will lose. The “Time is more important than ideality” tattoo helps the author to make decisions in the face of uncertainty. Finding a way out in situations when nothing is clear is one of the main competencies of modern managers.
Tattoo 27. Protect the interests of your leader
Protecting the interests of your leader is not a principle or belief. It’s a skill. It needs to be learned like riding a bicycle. It is much easier to criticize other people’s decisions and resent new problems.Instead, try to understand the leader’s motives, to understand them, to understand – and start helping him. At the end of the day, you have a common goal – business development. It is completely ineffective to spend additional resources on persuasion, explanations, and sometimes a showdown. It is better to take the manager’s side right away, think about how to help him in this situation, and complete the task quickly and well.
Leadership tip: When choosing which employee to assign to the manager role, take that skill as one of your criteria. It cannot be lost or forgotten. It is imprinted forever.
Tattoo 28. People will do it when it’s easier to do it
to do it than not to do it
One of the perfect managerial rules. The idea is simple: if the task is not completed once after time, then the subordinate needs to create conditions under which it will be easier for him to complete this task than not to complete it. Then the employee, choosing between two evils, will choose the lesser, and the probability of completing the task will increase significantly.
The author was convinced more than once that this rule works. And when I first came to Germany, I was amazed that there is a whole country where this approach has been elevated to a national cult. He found out that the Germans do not violate traffic rules, it is not profitable for them. If you exceed the speed of only 20 km / h three times, you will be deprived of your driving license for three months, if you are caught driving, you will be sent to prison. You can get your license back after the idiotten test, which is always preceded by 40 sessions with a psychologist lasting one hour and costing 100 euros each. Multiply yourself. In a word, they create such conditions for drivers in the country that next time it will be easier not to break the rules than to break them.Everyone knows about this and is so afraid that there are almost no violations on the roads. This is effective management.
Tattoo 29. Grow people – this is your main goal
People need to be given opportunities and hope. Do not be afraid that you will be “hooked”. If you are strong, grow people, show excellent results in your work, then your best employees can really be perceived as a replacement for you. And you can really be replaced by these employees. This is precisely the meaning of managerial work. This is what will allow you to grow further. Moreover, the grown substitute is the only condition under which you grow yourself. The people who work with you are your main asset. You cannot work in business, all the time accumulating something or someone around you. In business, investment and asset movement are valued.
Tattoo 30. Any of your ideas can be questioned
Even if the idea is good and correct, be sure to expect that it will be questioned. The reason doesn’t matter. Before proposing anything new to your colleagues (and clients), prepare for objections and think about which arguments are best to give.
Tattoo 31. Fig analyst during the crisis
Imagine that on a sinking ship the captain opens a large map, naval regulations and begins to think about the reasons why his ship is sinking instead of saving people. Stupid, right? At such a moment, one cannot delve into the past, only actions and only forward.Never look back if you are caught in a quagmire. Any analytics, any reporting, any verification is a step into the past, a step back. Any action aimed at overcoming the crisis is a step into the future, a step forward.
Eastern samurai have a phrase: “If you don’t know what to do, take a step forward.” If you are in a crisis, if it is hard for you, if you do not have enough strength and you want to give up everything – follow the rule of the samurai – take a step forward.
Tattoo 32. There is no justice
People with a heightened sense of universal injustice are the most serious destroyers in your company.”Fairness” is the most serious manipulation, and you can tell your opponent about it from the very start. There can be no social justice in commercial organizations. The one who works well, brings more profit, makes more significant and weighty decisions, is responsible for the most important processes, makes a greater contribution to the movement and development of the organization, should earn good money.
The author advises to remember: in your company, in your department, justice is you. As you decide, it will be fair.Do not explain yourself to such people, they still will not understand you and will not agree with you.
Tattoo 33. First we fight the consequences, then the causes
Very often managers struggle with the causes, not the consequences. Maxim Batyrev fundamentally disagrees with this approach. He gives an example of actions from the training of Tigran Harutyunyan. If you get sick and your snot is flowing, you need to find a handkerchief and blow your nose before you develop a comprehensive treatment program and go to the pharmacy for medicines, and then make a plan for the next year to buy new winter boots and maintain a healthy lifestyle. So it is in business. First eliminate the consequences and only then move on to the reasons.
The author is convinced that if he had not been guided by such logic, his fighters would never have studied their product and would not have been the coolest ConsultantPlus sellers in the country.
Tattoo 34. Everyone is responsible for himself
Maxim has an unpopular opinion: everyone is responsible for himself. He builds his own life, sets goals that can be both completely mundane and completely grandiose. But he does it himself.
RESPONSIBILITY = ACTION. Moreover, the actions are proactive. If we talk about work, then each employee has his own responsibility. The manager is responsible for creating conditions for the normal work of the employee (transfer of experience, material and non-material motivation, and so on). The responsibility of the employee is to use the created conditions for the good of the company. If he does not do this, he is inactive – he is irresponsible. And that’s just his choice.
Tattoo 35.Coaching in business is evil
The author has nothing against coaching as a separate direction of gelstalt therapy, but categorically does not accept it in business, considering it anti-management. This is a good technique for unlocking a person’s inner potential, but in personnel management it works against the company. A cold approach to the functionality of employees increases the efficiency of their work.
Coaching is based on the idea that a person is not an empty vessel that needs to be filled, but more like an acorn, which needs to create a fertile environment so that it sprouts and becomes an oak later.
Tattoo 36. Be consistent: they will start to squeeze you out
Any of your decisions, rules or instructions are perceived as restricting the freedom of your subordinate. Therefore, they will try to squeeze you out. There will be hundreds and even thousands of ways NOT to complete your tasks. Everyone will be looking for loopholes to stay comfortable. And most importantly, you will be tested for strength every day. There are only two options: either the subordinates will break you and everything will return to normal, or you will be able to build what you want.
Tip: Be unwavering and consistent. People respect consistency. The inconsistency is laughable and shows the weakness of power.
Tattoo 37. Do not trust the people of your dreams, trust the people of the goal
The author divides everyone into “people of the goal” and “people of the dream”. Dream people practically do not take action and very rarely associate their current activities with their own aspirations. Unlike people, goals who know for sure: all today’s actions move them forward, even a millimeter.People of the target always know what they want, who they will be, with whom and where. They are constantly in search of opportunities, which is why they practically do not need management. Maxim Batyrev calls such people supermen and believes that there are no more than 10% of them. If you have such people subordinate to you, consider that you are very lucky: the people of the target would work well without you, work well with you, and in the future they will work well anyway with whom. Be the person of purpose and manage the people of your dreams. There is no way without managing it.
Tattoo 38. Any ambiguity is interpreted as the worst for you.
People tend to develop worst-case scenarios in their heads if they don’t have definite answers. And they usually think out not in favor of the employer. Try not to allow ambiguities in your work, make sure that ordinary employees have the opportunity to receive the correct information firsthand. Encourage feedback by setting up anonymous mailboxes and responding to them from time to time.So you will keep your finger on the pulse and will be able to tell subordinates about the real state of affairs in time, dispelling their fears and filling the voids with your influence.
Tattoo 39. Any of your words can become a task
Even a passing word to a subordinate can turn into a task that you must demand a report on. To induce something, and then not ask about fulfillment, means to demotivate the employee. And the more influential your role in the organization, the more forcefully you strike with your indifference.
The author considers it extremely important to allow people to fulfill their main need – to be supermen in our eyes. The person who has completed the task you set or even a simple request should receive praise, feel a sense of pride in himself and his actions. And the person who “scored” and did not do what you asked him to do should feel embarrassed and ashamed for letting down his leader. These are the moments when people begin to understand that their leaders have really strong power.
Tattoo 40. A single conceptual apparatus improves controllability
Maxim Batyrev is convinced that the effectiveness of a unit directly depends on how well people understand each other. The more in common you have, the better the contact and the faster your employees accept tasks. For this, it is important to create and maintain a single conceptual apparatus and develop synchronously in a single conceptual field.
In his company, he uses a number of tools to do this. These include employee viewing of movies useful for business, and mandatory reading of selected business literature (newcomers, after a six-month probationary period, even take an exam on books they have read).Sometimes, in order to evoke certain emotions and actions of employees, he quotes the heroes of the films, and colleagues know exactly what he means.
Tattoo 41. Discipline is the mother of victory
Maxim Batyrev is adamant about discipline. He believes that disciplinary indulgence by managers leads to a direct decrease in performance. He calculated this empirically: he somehow parsed two-year-old explanatory notes from employees who were late more than two times in two weeks. And I was surprised to find that none of these subordinates already worked for the company.
In his opinion, being late is the first signal for the head of any department: with the same repetitive discipline situation, the probability of failure to complete tasks is close to 100%. Because being late is a litmus test of your attitude to your current job. If you want your unit to be combat-ready, demand iron discipline. From everyone, including yourself.
Tattoo 42.Change the weak to the strong
If you see that your employees are underperforming, underperforming, postponing tasks for later and working from time to time, say goodbye to them. Any indulgences to the “poor” are not good for the business. Of course, you need to give a person the opportunity to improve, but not after he has already lost his authority in the eyes of successful colleagues. Do this in advance. And then strong people will know that it is possible and necessary to work with you.
Tattoo 43. Do more than you need to
Not all good employees are good leaders.Especially for subordinates who want to grow vertically, Maxim once made a portrait of an ideal candidate for a managerial position, so that applicants know what to strive for. You can also get it by writing to Maxim at [email protected] with the subject “Portrait”. One of the principles that allow you to become a manager: “Do more than you need to.”
When Maxim Batyrev is faced with a choice of whom to appoint to a new position – a person who worked well, like many others, or an employee who worked well, but did more than necessary – he always prefers the second option. The calculation is simple: he expects him to behave in the same way, but in the role of a manager.
An important point: to do more than is strictly necessary only in those moments when you cope with your main tasks. Maxim professes this principle in his life. His active life position and fast-paced career have proven that by doing more than necessary, you create an advantage for yourself against the background of the rest.
Tattoo 44. Do not be afraid when you are alone. Fear When You Zero
Everyone wants to work with strong managers. With those who win awards, he himself can go to the client, if necessary, do something that will make him proud of his boss. Do you want to be a strong manager in the eyes of your subordinates? Then do not be afraid to make decisions, take responsibility for them, throw yourself new challenges, become an example and a source of inspiration for your colleagues. Be the one who is ready to go out and say, “I’ll do it!” – and do so until you get what you want.
Tattoo 45. Always remember: one day you will be fired
Everyone will be fired.Even Lee Iacoccu. Even Steve Jobs from his own company. We can only postpone this moment. But it will still happen sooner or later. Maxim decided to write about this separately so that the reader would not relax. In the book, he mentions Steve Jobs speaking to Stanford University alumni in 2005 (watch it on YouTube if you haven’t), where he talks about death as the cause of change and the best way to avoid thinking that you have something to lose.
Job change is one of the main shocks that a person experiences in his life. That is why you need to be mentally prepared for your own dismissal. For many years, Maksim Batyrev said to himself the same phrase early in the morning: “Today I can be fired.” Thinking about it became as imperative as brushing your teeth in the morning. Thoughts help to tune in to the working day, correctly paint a list of tasks and tone up better than any coffee. Thus, he creates himself the motivation for survival.
Remember, our time is limited and you have to catch everything. Remember that today is not a rehearsal for real life. This is real life.
90,000 Nizhny Novgorod residents who regret their tattoos
When I was 19 years old, I fell very much in love with one young man, but he did not reciprocate. For some reason, I thought that we would certainly be together – despite the fact that nothing worked out. Against the background of unrequited love, I became interested in what I now conventionally call esotericism: the search for a spiritual path, a stream of consciousness, sensation here and now.And now I come across some kind of program, it seems, “The Battle of Psychics”, where the presenter cheerfully and confidently talks about how strongly the drawings on the body affect a person, how dramatically and irrevocably they can change fate once and for all, and the guests with with burning eyes, they tell their stories about tattoos – naturally, I took this as a sign. And she decided to beat “love”.
I thought for a long time how it should look like, whether there will be just a heart or an inscription, where it will be located. I looked through hundreds of pictures with fonts, found all the good tattooists in Nizhny Novgorod. As a result, it was decided to stuff the inscription “Love” on the wrist. The heart looked strange, but I wanted to do something really aesthetic, artistic and beautiful. Yes, and small at the same time! I didn’t want to upset mom much. I drew a sketch and went to get a tattoo. Love was supposed to be, relatively speaking, across the veins (this is how the inscriptions on the wrist are usually done), but I was told that it hurts to hit at this point, so at the last moment I changed my mind and stuffed it along.
I liked the result – inspired, I went to wait for a change. And … nothing happened! And my beloved even found a girlfriend. It seemed that I was embarrassed to talk about the true meaning of my tattoo, I told everyone that Love is my love for life, for everything that happens, it is a reminder to myself that love is always with me, in my heart. This was not true. In fact, the tattoo did not meet my expectations! Although, perhaps, later I myself believed in the meaning that I supposedly put into this inscription from the very beginning. I don’t remember exactly, because it doesn’t matter for a long time.
Valhalla. Game-killing details! – Games on DTF
Having passed Origins and Odyssey for platinum, I did not regret spending 100+ hours on the final series, a game about the expansion of medieval England by severe Danes and Norwegians. There have already been many reviews about Valhalla from more reputable publishers and authors. However, behind the general pros and cons of the game hides a number of details, insignificant for many, that are rarely mentioned in reviews, but which spoil the impression of passing quite a lot.Especially for those who want to sink into Valhalla headlong and for a long time. Go!

1.Pumping system
Perhaps the game’s biggest flaw is its balance. Many players complained about Odyssey’s obstruction due to the need for constant grinding. In new locations, enemies of increasing levels appeared, which made it difficult to continuously follow the plot outline. Yubisoft listened, and the scales sharply tipped in the other direction.
What do we get in Valhalla? All the same levels of enemies, not changing and not adjusting to our hero. But now the glorious Viking Eyvor gains experience for almost every stroking a cat.
There are 490 levels in total … 490, Karl!
This led to the utter ecstasy of those who like to run from task to task. But once you delve into pollock for a while, search for treasures and artifacts… And that’s all. Having received 100,500 experience points for side effects, already for the same location, Eyvor becomes an imbued Viking, taking out everyone from 2-3 stamens. Story bosses are not far from these indicators. In this case, from the whole game, only the legendary animals and rabid witches with bare breasts remain a challenge. By the way, even the high level of difficulty does not help (although the combat is beautiful, you will not say anything).
The massacre here is sometimes quite believable and cruel
2.Why …
There are also questions about filling the world. The question marks are finally gone. They were replaced by a rather interesting side quest system. But this time the question is raised by the so-called artifacts. And the question is: why? Why tattoo sheets? Why would a game need tattoos at all, if there is not even a single more or less open armor? The only prominent place is the face.If you do not want to make a Morgenstern out of your Viking, then the tattoo system is basically useless.
Cursed symbols also raise a similar question. There are so many notes, diaries, leaflets in the game for delving into the lore of the world, but not a single mention of these symbols. What for? For what? How do they work? They don’t even give anything for them (except for the “necessary” experience so much for everyone).Collection for collection’s sake.
Perhaps the main question is why? evokes social stealth … In fact, this is just a cheap version of the curtsey towards the first part, which carries with it nothing but nostalgia. Yes, and made quite crooked, because in the first part there were cities filled with a crowd. And stealth in the company of 2-3 Saxon drunkards looks a little strange.
The fishing mechanics are also somewhat reminiscent of … Hi Arthur Morgan!
3. Order of the Ancients
I’ll try to avoid spoilers here.As in the previous 2 games, all dark affairs in England are run by the Order of the Ancients. Information on the affairs of the order is presented in a separate menu tab. And the first thing that catches your eye is their number. Yes, there was such a crowd of prototampliers in the Odyssey, but in our case, 90 percent of these guys are just mannequins without any plot arc, and even nouns were added to the order’s masters.
Those members of the Order who got their place in the plot are obviously another curtsy of the first part, but rather just an impudent self-repetition (those who passed the arch in Jorvik will probably understand me).
But the main thing, as for me, the developers’ fail is the display of the Order members in the menu. An animated model covered by the shadow of a war is, of course, a cool idea … But the way it is done is just a shame. “Thanks” to such a wonderful decision, in one of the plot arcs, the antagonist is immediately obvious, but the coolest thing is that already in the FIRST HALF of the game, with even not very developed attentiveness, you can determine the Grand Master of the Order.Plot twists, apparently, not about Yubisoft …
4. Animation
The engine on which the latest assassin games are made is, of course, far from perfect. Even in the Odyssey, the characters felt like cardboard, but in Valhalla, this is too noticeable.Extremely poorly staged cut-scenes (with the exception of the advertising prologue, which was shoved to all journalists in the pre-release), absolutely emotionless characters (with the exception, perhaps, of Eyvor), and even the models are crookedly molded. How else to explain that during a conversation, almost all the plot characters take an unnatural warlike pose (well, or they just have scoliosis, then I have no complaints).
Nevertheless, the game took a fairly high place in my personal rating of the Assassin’s Creed series and I highly recommend it to everyone. But these little things leave their mark on the overall experience of the game.
P. S. How annoying minute loading, even before the usual conversations with the merchant!
90,000 “Look for the strong, the weak will stick themselves”: selected ideas from the book “45 manager tattoos”
Recently we published a selection of books that were read by Yakaboo employees in August. “ 45 tattoos of manager” by Maxim Batyrev has become one of the most favorite books on the management of Yakaboo CEO Ivan Bogdan.
“She took a worthy place in my personal library! Very easy to read and “fit”. One feels that the book was written by a strong and experienced practitioner, that each of his tattoos is a really cool set of principles and rules, proven by the practice of a successful manager. Therefore, it was especially interesting for me to compare what I read with my personal and professional experience. I agree with the statements from all 45 of the author’s tattoos – they are really working, ”says Ivan.
Here are examples of some of them:
Read, comprehend.Train your main muscle
Yes, yes, it’s about reading regularly! The brain is the same muscle. And in order for it to work well, it must be trained, that is, read regularly! Moreover, if you consume only low-quality content (TV, tabloids), then the brain begins to degrade, remember this! ) When reading, it is also important to comprehend and delve into what you read.
What is obvious to you is not obvious to others
What seems obvious to you may not be understood by someone else. And you don’t even know about it, because your interlocutor will not say about it, will not ask counter or clarifying questions. Therefore, when setting goals, it is always best to make sure that understanding is reached even on those issues that seem obvious and elementary to you.
Look for the strong, the weak will stick themselves
If you want to grow and develop, look for strong people for communication and mentoring, mentoring. One should look up to them and take an example from them. This is the only way you can become strong! And the weak will always find you themselves and will always involuntarily “infect” you with their bad mood, everything is always bad with them.Don’t plug in or they will drag you down.
Everyone can be forgiven for a mistake (under certain circumstances)
Only those who do nothing are not mistaken. Forgive those who realized their mistake and it is IMPORTANT – they do not blame others, but, on the contrary, take the blame / responsibility upon themselves and want to correct the situation!
Clients – our everything
This says it all and it is already a known truth. But the author gives his examples and arguments, with which it is hard to disagree.
Call a spade a spade
Always speak directly and truthfully – what is good and what is bad. People should understand exactly and specifically what they want from them, what complaints there are about them. Do not be shy, even if you are not comfortable.
Do what you preach
To require others to follow certain rules, you must follow them yourself.
You are a standard, they will be guided by you, employees will always evaluate you, observe. If the manager is late for work, then the employees will do the same. Therefore, the order begins with the leader.
Good must be rewarded and evil punished. Always
Follow this principle always, without exception, without an individual approach to any special departments or employees.
Teach – heal – soak
First, the manager must explain the rules of the game and the tasks to his subordinate ( teach ), then help figure out if something went wrong ( treat ), but if on the second or third since an employee does not perform tasks, violates agreements, it is necessary to boldly apply sanctions or even fire ( wet ).
You need to develop not weaknesses, but strengths
Develop and become a strong professional in what you are strong in!
Recognition of the specificity of death is like
We often find excuses for ourselves, excuses that this market is sinking, a crisis, it is impossible to do anything, so we set ourselves in advance to NOT achieve good results. As a result, employees or entire departments relax and do not strive for results, programming themselves for mediocrity or going with the flow.
Change the weak to the strong
Often, managers leave weak employees to work, forgiving them not fulfilling sales plans, constant disruptions to deadlines, etc. They run around with them, waste time on them, and get no results. This not only negatively affects the overall performance of the company, but also demotivates strong employees who see all this and do not understand why the weak can do this, but we cannot, they begin to think that their “strength” is not needed by anyone.

The Ark was part of a modern ecological concept, an example of a self-sufficient habitat. A huge floating city, created by people, became a haven for scientists and thinkers who wanted to realize this ecological concept, and the wealthy city leaders provided them with truly resort conditions for this.
But the threat of a global ecological catastrophe soon became nowhere more real: glaciers melted, sea level rose, and the survival of humanity itself was in question. Many thousands of people from all over the world rushed to the Ark in search of salvation. Refugees tried their best to survive, and the founding fathers of the city and their descendants tried at all costs to maintain control over it.
Now the Ark has lost all ties with what is left of the land, and is in complete isolation. The supposedly renewable resources of the Ark are depleting, and there is a risk that power will change, and opposing social groups will enter into bloody conflict.
Tensions rise as the Guard and Resistance fight for control of the Ark. Which side will you take?
Security
When the Ark was still a first class floating ecological resort and a place for scientific ecological research, it only needed a small security staff. The guards then controlled the situation and protected VIPs. But since the sea level has risen and the influx of refugees arriving on the Ark has increased significantly, the need for the police has arisen. And then in the armed gendarmerie.
The Ark guard is now a heavily armed anti-terrorist force. Most of the members of the Guard signed up there as volunteers, tk. they believed that the Ark could survive only if order reigned on it and the remaining resources were preserved. And an additional water ration will not hurt either. The provocations of the Resistance forced the Guard to suppress discontent among the guests, which put the Ark on the brink of open rebellion.
Targets:
- Disrupt the terrorists’ plans from the resistance
- Protect Remaining Ark Resources
- Save the founder’s vision
Resistance
When the sea level rose and panic rose among the inhabitants of the coast, a huge number of refugees tried to get to the Ark lost in the ocean by boats. Only the most fortunate were able to survive this journey. At first, they were only glad that they had managed to survive, and were grateful for their cramped temporary shelters, water rations and dangerous technical work. But over the years, conditions became worse and worse, and new “guests” of the Ark began to doubt their position.
Is it true that the founders of the Ark really do everything they can to reconnect with the outside world? Why are only guests kept on water rations? If their work keeps the Ark afloat, why are they considered second class? Resistance formed from those who could no longer be laborers for the founders. The disaffected want water to be given to everyone equally, and that the meager capabilities of the Ark should be directed towards reaching the rest of the land. The growing discontent among the guests forced the Guard to take harsh measures, and civil war almost broke out in the Ark.
Targets:
- Protect refugees from security forces
- Distribute resources to those in need
- Make contact with the world outside the Ark
Each of the four classes has a set of certain basic skills; but as your character develops, he will acquire new skills and items and, thanks to them, specialize in one area inherent in his class. Therefore, the game will never meet two identical soldiers, spies, engineers or medics. Perhaps you will create a skilled soldier who can protect comrades, improve weapons and destroy objects. Or he will give preference to more powerful explosions that will cover large areas, and learn how to handle a variety of types of grenades. Your engineer can refuse to build defensive structures, and instead develop those skills that will allow him to quickly move forward and cut off the enemy’s path with special mines. Also, your character can develop in several universal directions that will be useful to any class. The end result is entirely up to you: the game is flexible enough for you to create the character that best suits your play style.
Soldier
Destroy important objects, use grenades and supply your team with the necessary supplies.
- As the leveling progresses, the Soldier gets more explosive weapons, as well as improves his skills in issuing ammunition, he can also specialize in protecting his team members.
- Instead of throwing bullets on the ground, you throw bullets directly to a member of your team.
- Soldiers can specialize in grenades.
- One of the soldier’s abilities is to protect the members of his team. You attach to the player, and become a defense tower that moves with him. You take a portion of the damage instead.
- A soldier can only place a charge on a mission target at a special point, like in CoD, unlike in previous SD games, where there was a choice of the location of the charge. This allows for high quality animation of the charge setting. You can see what stage the soldier is in. It also makes the game a little more approachable for new players not familiar with previous SD games.
- The soldier has access to a flashbang grenade – The effect of it lasts 2 times less than in CoD: MW2
- Soldiers have access to a Molotov cocktail.
- The soldier has an upgrade that gives him Kevlar armor.
- The soldier appears to be able to distribute different types of ammunition to members of his team.In one of the videos, Richard Ham said “The cartridges that Jolie (meaning Fluffy, media director) is giving out today, armor-piercing”
- The Soldier may have an ability that increases the grenade throw range.
Medic
Watch your team in battle, provide the necessary assistance and help your closest comrades defend themselves.
- The Medic restores 100% health, so you don’t need multiple first aid kits to heal your teammates.Rebirth also grants 100% health.
- The game provides for key mission objectives and tasks that require the participation of a medic, such as protecting and escorting an NPC (Non-playable character).
- The Medic will carry out missions to escort civilians to safety, which will provide bonus experience for the entire team.
- The medic has the ability to self-resurrect (possible for use, once every 2 minutes, according to the latest information)
- The Medic can get several new abilities to help heal his comrades and speed up their movement.
- Like a soldier, the Medic no longer drops first aid kits on the ground, but throws them directly at his team members.
- Rebirth has become selective. The Medic does not revive members on command; instead, he tosses a revive syringe to an incapacitated player. And he himself determines whether he needs to be revived or wait for the spawn.
- The medic will gain experience for throwing a syringe to a disabled person, as well as additional experience if a disabled person uses this syringe.
- Using a syringe while disabled is not an instant resurrection. The player needs to hold the button (L on the xbox) for about 3 seconds (at this time the health bar fills up) before resurrecting.
- The medic has access to the bio-weapon ability.
- The Medic also has an ability that speeds up the regeneration of a bar of energy (it is not yet clear who it affects).
Engineer
Set up and defend tactical points, use and repair equipment, and upgrade your team’s weapons.
- Can build and repair objects.
- Can disarm soldiers’ charges (sort of like freezing).
- Operator Can Hack Targets – The Engineer can destroy the Hack Box on the target.
- Can lay mines.
- Engineer improves his devices, improves weapon upgrades, can change the bonuses of the command post.
- The main devices of the engineer are turrets. Any engineer can place one turret, anywhere of their choice.Placing a second turret causes the first to disappear.
- Level 1 Engineer, does not have mines and turrets, he must buy them in the abilities menu. Both abilities are active.
- Mines are available early in the game, the turret opens at level 5.
- Turrets are well suited as a distraction. Basically, they do not kill (unless, of course, the target is not a pillar), but they force the enemy to constantly move, thereby distracting him.
- Currently, the Engineer’s buff increases damage by 15%. But we are talking only about the first rank of this ability.
- Engineers are able to buff weapons from level 1.
- When a player receives a damage buff, their weapon glows golden.
- The engineer will also have a defense (armor) buff. Additional information on turrets:
Turrets can miss a fast target, but an experienced engineer will place it in a place where it is impossible to slip through at speed.Turrets have a limited field of view and limited attack range. When used tactically, the turret is unusually strong, with power depending on how the engineer has allocated his abilities.
The ability has a turret, 3 ranks. Each is more powerful than the last.
Spy
Bypass the enemy’s defense and his sentry guns, get important information and sneak behind enemy lines.
- Interrogating the enemy gives access to the “radar” ability, which allows you to see the enemy on the minimap for a certain period of time, as well as to see the location of enemy weapons. At the moment, the radar is active for 10 seconds. Changes in the balance are possible, but at first glance, a longer period of time can ruin the gameplay. Interrogation at a higher rank (requires an ability purchase) will allow the operator to see enemies through walls and other objects for a short period of time.
- There is mention of the Operative’s ability to speed up the hacking speed.
- Some abilities in Brink will be dependent. So the ability “Sense of perspective” allows the player to use a 3rd person view while hacking a mission target or terminal, but in return you cannot move.
- The Operator has several unique lethal weapons such as the Sticky Bomb that only the Operator can see. If you attach it to the player, then it will be detonated after 5 seconds, during which time the player’s team members must find and neutralize it, otherwise the player will explode.
- Only operatives can see the sticky bomb, in inventory it takes the place of a grenade.
- Operators can install a firewall at the command post, thereby protecting it from the enemy.
- Jailbreak occurs automatically after the device (jailbreak box) is attached to the computer, but it’s not as easy as holding a button and waiting. After a hacking attempt is made, the Operator must wait for a connection to the system. After that, a hand-held device (reminiscent of a cross between a smartphone and a stun gun) of the operative tells him how long the break-in will take, a picture appears in the upper corner with an indicator that tracks the distance of the agent to the target of the break-in.The further away it is, the longer the break-in will last. The process can be sped up if the operator removes his weapon and opens the PDA. This makes it vulnerable to attack, but speeds up the process significantly. Several operatives can use several PDAs at the same time.
- Disguise as the enemy, this is one of the abilities of the operative. You take away your victim’s clothes, as well as imitate her physique. For example, you will look like a heavy guy, but in fact you will be light, the opponent may seem suspicious that the fat man climbed over the wall with a bazooka.
(additional information on camouflage) - It is assumed that unless you are a victim of disguise, the game will not provide you with any indicators of a disguised operator. So the only way to define it is to observe its behavior (example above).
- You should not be in the enemy’s line of sight when disguising.
- You cannot fire a weapon, or you will lose your disguise.
The set of weapons will determine which weapon you will use during the game, the set can be changed during the match. There are 3 types of weapon sets, depending on the body type – Light, Medium and Heavy. The heavy type will have access to all weapons in the game, while the light type will only have access to small weapons.
The developers have planned 24 samples of weapons in the game:
5 pistols (semi-automatic, automatic and revolvers)
7 samples of light weapons (SMG’s – submachine guns and short-barreled (“sniper”) rifles)
7 samples of medium weapons (Assault rifles, light grenade launchers and shotguns)
5 models of heavy weapons (Multi-barreled gatling machine guns, heavy / automatic grenade launchers and rapid-fire shotguns)
There is also other non-small arms such as explosives.
- Heavy body type, can carry heavy weapons as the main weapon and medium weapons as an additional weapon.
- Medium build, can carry medium weapons as a main weapon and light weapons as an additional weapon.
- Light body type, can carry light weapons as a main weapon and a pistol as an additional weapon.
Read more about body types here.
- Weapon recoil is not as crazy as in some games. Based on feedback from some players who played Brink at QuakeCon, the recoil is not felt until 6-7 shots. It seems that it is most effective to shoot in small bursts. Of course, the recoil of the weapon can be lured, depending on its type and improvements.
- By default, no barrel can kill someone with one bullet (this includes headshots from a sniper rifle), but there are improvements in the game, as well as buffs that temporarily increase the power of the weapon, as well as improvements that allow increase the stock of health. Thus, the game has a kind of race between the strength of the weapon and the stock of health, which allows you to achieve unique skirmishes with unpredictable results.
- Although the weapons in the game are identical for each side, they will look and sound differently. Security forces weapons will sound crisp and look good, while resistance weapons will look and sound stolen and rusted. In addition, there will be a split between the sound of hip shooting and aiming, due to the changing position of the weapon in relation to you.
- SD decided to give players endless grenades, with a 20-30 second cooldown between throws.
- Grenades will be bound to a separate button (CoD style), you no longer select them like in previous SD games. You can also “prepare” a grenade, as in previous SD games, which means that the grenade has a 5 second timer, you can hold the grenade in your hand for up to 4 seconds, and then throw and hit the enemy exactly.
- There is no sniper accent in the game.Of course, there will be scopes for weapons and rifles with high damage and long reload times, but the game does not support the usual sniper style. The developers said they want to create intense close range shooting. That is why the size of teams is 8 by 8, and not something larger. Also, because of this, there is no technique in the game.
“There will be no snipers in the game to land headshots from a 2 km distance.”
“While the game has a weapon that looks like a sniper rifle and shoots like a sniper rifle and has a scope like a sniper rifle, our game does not support the sniper style“ Go hide in the bush on the hill and kill from the first shot, anyone who shows up ”, so our sniper rifles are much weaker than in other games of this kind.To use them effectively, you either use a light body type (with less health), or start thinking about sniping as a way to injure an enemy so that your comrades can finish him off. ” – Richard Ham, Creative Director
- Your weapon is always in your right hand and your belongings in your left.
- The grenade launcher in the game has the ability to knock down legs, but less damage than in similar games. Brink doesn’t need a nub-gun.
- There is no instant kill with a knife in the game (only if you are not of an easy type of addition, the knife will kill an easy one from the first hit, if it does not have a health buff).
- You can only use a knife with a pistol (this is the only way you will have a free hand, with a knife), in other cases it is a blow with the butt. The knife does more damage.
- When you open a new weapon, it opens in both versions (Resistance and Security Forces).
- The weapon to be opened will not be more powerful than the initial one, it will differ in parameters and will potentially be more convenient in certain situations.
- You can pick up the weapon of the killed player.
- You cannot pick up someone else’s class, the class change is made only at the command post.
- If you were disabled and then rebuilt, the number of your cartridges does not change.
“A blow with the buttstock (except for the pistol) knocks you down. Melee attack on a knocked down player finishes. Knocked down, can get up or shoot from the ground. It is like a mental game – stay on the ground and shoot at the enemy who is trying to finish you off, or get up, since the enemy does not go to get, but wants to kill you with a machine gun. ” – Aubrey Hesselgren, Technical Designer.

You can also install a grenade launcher or a front grip to reduce recoil and even improve the clip. There are many things you can do with your weapon to adapt it to your playstyle. ” – Paul Wedgwood
Brink has an almost unlimited number of looks for your character. You can choose clothes, accessories, physique, tone of voice for him – in a word, he will not be just “another hero”.
Almost everything in your character can be customized to your liking.
- Main person
- Skin tone
- Hair type
- Hair Color
- Headpiece
- Headgear Parts
- Facial Care
- Details of the face set
- Facial Hair
- Facial hair color
- Face tattoos
- Face Painting
- T-shirts, jackets
- Jacket color
- Jacket Details
- Pants
- Pant parts
- Pants color
- Body type
- Tattoos on the body
- Accent
As you progress in the game and gain experience, new opportunities will open up for you to develop your character. You will be able to acquire class skills and weapons, ideally suited to your playing style; or gather a team of narrow specialists, consisting of your friends or clanmates.
“The level of customization is incredible considering this is a shooter. Of course, you know that in a shooter you can’t see yourself … so usually you can’t pick out outerwear, underwear, tattoos, scars, different types of hats, hairstyles and choose their color, texture and all that. In Brink, you can do it … ” – Richard Ham, Creative Director
Note : When you create your character, some things become permanent, which means you cannot change them later:
“When creating a character, you choose some permanent things that cannot be changed later (skin color, voice, face , tattoos and scars).Next, you choose 2 Appearance Packs: One for the security forces and the other for the resistance game. ”. – Richard Ham
- Over time, you will be able to create a look that will perfectly match your playstyle, character or your own personality, while having a truly unique appearance.
It looks like there are 10 types per faction, Oliver Leonardi (Art Director) explains this in an interview with nxtgamer.com:
“What we did was define 10 types that fit different personalities in the plot, so we have 10 strong characters for each faction, and you can change their appearance and create millions of characters from these ten handsome guys »
- Types are appearance blanks, on the basis of which you can create your own unique character. Each group has its own set of types, which you can modify or supplement with the found equipment. You can see the gallery of traits here
- The character (and weapon) customization window looks simple and intuitive, there is a lot of choice. This is not your typical “customization window on one side and character on the other.” The character (and weapons) are depicted in 3D, opposite certain areas (hair, pants, boots) there are arrows, by clicking on which you will enlarge the selected area and see even more possible options – (Select a head and after zooming in, you can choose a hairstyle, hats , glasses, etc.etc.). Each of these items has a unique color bar that depends on the faction.
By changing your character, you make him “alive”, this is not a rotating statue on which clothes change like on a mannequin.
- You can create up to 16 characters.
- You can customize during animation cuts. All menus are very simple.
- Resistance characters can be naked, but a security character must always wear at least a T-shirt.Everyone should have pants …
- Each faction has a certain range of colors that are not available to the other faction (they are still working on this). It was planned to make an automatic painting of the entire clan, but so far this has been abandoned. Clan members can still coordinate and match similar clothing and color.
- Each character will have skin options for the Security Forces and the Resistance, with different customization choices for each side. When you make your character, you can change the faction by pressing a button.
“You can customize tons of things. From top to bottom, the list would look something like this: face archetype, skin tone, hairstyles, hair color, headwear, headwear textures, face accessories, face accessory color, facial hair, facial hair color, facial tattoos, coloring faces, shirt, jacket, jacket color, trousers, trousers color, body type, tattoos on the body. There are a lot of things, and you have to double that number, since we have two different factions: the Resistance and the Security Forces.Players will have loads of things to customize, especially when they unlock all the options. ”. – Richard Ham
- The character in the customization window is not a super high resolution statue made specifically for customization – this is a real model from the game.
- When you’re not in the game, be it options, main menu, etc. your avatar, big and beautiful, will be in the background.
- There are 8 packs of voices in the game, as well as separate packs of commander’s voices.
- If you have several characters, you can transfer experience points from one character to another, for example, if your main character has a lot of experience points, you can pump your 2nd character with them.
- At PAX, Richard Ham mentioned that as you level up your character, you will unlock new outfits and accessories.
- When you open something for the main character, it automatically becomes available to all your characters. You don’t need to rediscover the same thing.
Players will select characters’ faces from a pre-made list, not by adjusting the face with a slider. The quote below explains.
“The choice was made in favor of better quality characters, with a small loss in customization options. I can say that this is a fair exchange. I believe that our characters seem to be some of the best in the video game industry, and they would not be as high-quality detailed if we gave the players the opportunity to adjust the cheekbones of the face themselves (In many games with customization, the characters after processing by the players look ….not very good, IMHO). It’s the same with colors and textures. Our guys worked through all the colors and made sure they look good. If we had used a slider or RGBL, the colors would have looked much more averaged. ”. – Richard Ham, Creative Director

Female :
Unfortunately, only male characters can be created in the game. There were a lot of questions and discussions about this. Some have said, “They brag about their customization and still couldn’t make female characters,” and some even call Splash Damage employees misogynists because of this approach.
In fact, this is not at all the case. SD originally planned to include female characters in the game, and Richard Ham explains why this idea was dropped over time. The video shows him asking about female characters at around 6:05 am.
For those who are not strong in English – Creation of Female characters is a long and difficult process, many developers do a mess and do not make a separate animation for them, in the end all that we see is bouncing breasts. SD didn’t want to go that route, they wanted to create full-fledged female characters, which means that all the details must be worked out separately, i.e. it is as much work as it is on male characters.
In addition to choosing your appearance, you can also choose your character’s physique. There are 3 body types in Brink: Heavy, Medium and Light, each with their own advantages and disadvantages, and the differences can be divided into 6 categories.
Health : The more = the more health
Speed : The more = the slower
Climbing : The more = the less the ability to climb
Energy bar : The more = the more energy bar (for example: stock first aid kits)
Weapon : More = more choice
Size : Larger = easier to hit
- It has been confirmed that you can change body type between matches in the customization window, but during a match you cannot change body type and appearance.
- All outfits are available for all 3 body types. There is no special outfit in the game available only to one type of addition.
- Different body types have different sounds of footsteps.
“You can change class as many times as you like during a match, but you cannot change your body type. Once the match has begun, you play with your chosen physique to the end. You have to accept the choice you make, but you can improve the situation with your abilities. “ – Richard Ham
- Everyone starts with a Medium build, opening up Easy and Hard early on in the game. The middle type is the most balanced of the types of addition, without any serious minuses and pluses. He uses SMART well, has a good supply of health and has access to all weapons except the heavy one. To understand how fast it is, just watch any video with the gameplay – they are all of the average type.
- Light body type, fastest and most agile. He climbs the highest and jumps the farthest, reaching places where other types of addition cannot reach.Due to its small size, it is also the smallest and most difficult target. The price to pay for this, the least amount of health and energy, as well as access only to light weapons.
- The heavy body type has access to all weapons in the game, he has the most health and energy reserves. On the other hand, it is the slowest and most sluggish of all folding types, making it the largest and lightest target.
- Body types determine which obstacles you will be able to overcome. If you are a big, strong guy, you can use your SMART to get over an object that is waist-deep to you. If you are average, you will overcome the obstacle to your growth. Finally, if you are lightweight, you will climb an object that is taller than you. Thus, addition determines the capabilities of the SMART button.
“Every time a medic throws a syringe (it’s like manna), he uses some of his energy, a kind of supplies. Skinny guys can’t carry a lot of supplies with them.
If you are a Skinny Medic, you cannot resurrect as many people as an average Medic. If you are a big, fat, heavy and slow medic, you can hand out supplies until you blue in the face. So it creates a kind of dynamic, a thin guy can’t do much, he has less choice (this goes for mines, turrets or resurrections, in general, everything), but he can quickly get to the place. He is like an elite, a super fast special squad that stays in place, focuses on something, and moves on.He is constantly on the move.
Big, fat guy: he has enough energy to distribute supplies to everyone. So it creates an interesting and unpredictable combination of playstyles that you get by mixing and matching your choices. ”. – Richard Ham
In the customization window, the weapon is displayed as a 3D model that can be rotated and zoomed in. You simply select a weapon part and a list of possible upgrades will pop up. The parameters of the weapon are also displayed there, which change depending on the selected improvements.
- Just like with the appearance of your character, when you press the button, the type of weapon changes, depending on the faction.
- Most of the improvements have both advantages and disadvantages.
- Triggers, another suggested improvement.
- Things like a muzzle brake and a grip that improve parameters are unlocked at the early stage of the game, and “everyone” will have access to them. The stuff that unlocks at a later stage is a new weapon and doesn’t provide more power, just more choice. For decades, RPGs have given weak abilities early on and strong ones reserved for the late game, but for multiplayer FPS games, this philosophy needs to be changed.
- The telescopic sight cannot be mounted on pistols (presumably). Just as it is impossible to install a grenade launcher on many types of weapons.
- You have to pay for customizing weapons. The more sophisticated your barrel is, the heavier it is, which leads to a deterioration in the parameter – equipment speed.
Known weapon modifications:
Top modules:
- Standard sight
- Improved sight
- Optical sight
- Reflex sight 1
- Reflex sight 3
Front modules:
- Silencer
- Four-valve muzzle brake
- Six-valve muzzle brake
Bottom modules:
- Front handle
- Underbarrel grenade launcher
Cage modules:
- Standard cage
- High capacity clip
- Double clip (two horns attached to each other)
- Drum clip
“Keep in mind, we are constantly experimenting with weapon damage, at the moment it takes about half of the clip to kill the enemy, if he does not move, headshots cause additional damage. This is damage dealt without buffs and health improvements taken into account. There are no enemies or objects that can be shot through in Brink (like in CS). ” – Richard Ham

How a tattoo artist severely taught a non-paying client
Social media users discuss the original revenge of a Bashkir tattoo artist on a client who refused to pay a guy , and even said that he always deceives the masters like that. The owner of the salon, in revenge, simply filled the freeloader with an insulting inscription on his face. However, the story of harsh retaliation aroused a lot of suspicion among users.
A tattoo artist from Ufa, Roman Bikeev, became a celebrity on social networks in a couple of days, talking about how he taught an impudent defaulter a lesson. The Ufa resident reported about a client who, after drawing on his body, refuses to pay the masters on VKontakte and on Instagram.
Roman Bikeev
Roman, who is better known to Ufa residents by his pseudonym Mr Amsterdam, said that he had avenged the guy for all the craftsmen he had once deceived. He attached to the post a photograph of a smiling young man with the caption “Kidal. By mr Amsterdam ”, apparently tattooed on his forehead.
Mr. Amsterdam Tattoo Ufa, laser removal
Attention! Dear colleagues: such a character walks in Ufa, signs up for a session, makes a tattoo and says to the master after work: “I don’t care … I won’t pay.” What is most interesting, no one could do anything with him … Meet him in your salon – chase him with a nasty broom! P.S. You are avenged.
A photo of a guy with a “Kidal” tattoo got to “Pikaba”, where it quickly got into the top. However, in the comments, many users began to doubt the words of Roman, suggesting that it is unlikely that the defaulter would voluntarily agree to such a decoration on the forehead. In addition, if a young man did this with many masters, tattoo artists would already know him by sight, write pikabushniki.
As for me, they just drew this ***** with a black pen and came up with such a legend.Tattoo artists from the same city usually communicate with each other. Well, once he would have done this, well, a maximum of two, but he would not have been able to constantly go to tattoo parlors and not pay. Glory would have gone ahead of him. To fill this is at least half an hour. So someone was holding him all this time? Or was he unconscious? And after that he smiles at the camera. Yes, and besides, this master has an advertisement for tattoo removal on his insta. Which, as it were, also hints at cheap PR.
That is, he threw the masters for a long time. For free, I stuffed myself with everything on different parts of the body, but for some reason it was when I decided to get a tattoo on my forehead that I got to the master who recognized him. Hmmmm.
Too evenly stuffed, not to mention the calligraphic signature and how much this trick will cost the tattoo artist if the boy goes to court. Another fake prehistory. There is a suggestion that he is a fan of AUE.
However, Roman insists on his story. The tattoo artist told the Bashkortostan State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company that the client himself agreed to such a punishment for refusing to pay the masters.
This is a very interesting situation. The man signed up for a tattoo. When I examined him, I noticed a lot of tattoos on his body – and in different styles. We discussed it, decided to do it on the neck. I did my job, and he said that he would not pay, they say, he had not paid anyone yet. We offered to write “threw” on his forehead, because I feel sorry for my colleagues. And so, they thought, I will avenge them too, and it will be good for me. As a result, he went to bed himself, voluntarily, no one tied him. Then I told him: “That’s it, goodbye,” Bikeyev explained.
The day after the publication of the entry about the defaulter, Roman, in response to the user’s words that the master had humiliated the guy with such a tattoo, told other details about the client. The Ufa resident claims that neither the masters nor the police can find a council for the lover of free tattoos. And the young man uses this – and to such actions, as he allegedly says, “the shaitan pushes.”
Nobody humiliated him, according to him, he himself walked, threw everyone and sought reprisals (literally), as he says, he is a Muay Thai fighter, they say, no one can do anything to him, there is no registration, and there is nothing garbage with him either they can’t help it. As he says, they say, the shaitan is pushing him to this act.
However, it seems that the cunning client is not going to remain with such an inscription on his forehead. According to mr Amsterdam, the young man announced that he would get rid of the tattoo by deceiving another master or specialist in laser removal of drawings on the body.
He looked in the mirror, smiled and said: “I will throw a laser or tattoo artist anyway and get rid of it,” and left.
The British artist has found a much safer way to troll users who want to get a free portrait from him. In response to such a request, a man simply sends users stupid sketches of them. But they are so funny that some people are even willing to pay for such a drawing.
But the revenge of a Reddit user who was framed by a colleague was much more sophisticated. Left without a promotion at work because of a colleague, the user began to look for weak spots from a colleague in order to give him what he deserves with their help.
