President Letter | DMA website
2020 has been one of the most challenging years as we faced the
unprecedented pandemic of Covid-19 which brought our country to a standstill.
Together, just as we have done in other times of trouble and hardship, we rallied
and will ultimately come out stronger. Members across the country are in for the
long haul, and knowing what we have overcome before, TOGETHER I know we
Since January, the National Advisory Committee and National Area Directors
have had several zoom meetings discussing a variety of topics, and for the time
being we will continue to meet this way. In May the decision was made to cancel
the 136th National Convention, Teachers Training School and the
Student Honors Intensive Program. This was a difficult decision, but one that was
made with everyone’s safety being the top priority. The National Advisory
Committee and National Area Directors quickly jumped into action, connecting
with our chapters and their members via zoom meetings. It was important to us to have the opportunity to check in with everyone, help with reopening plans where we could, and ultimately just letting everyone know they are not alone and TOGETHER we will persevere. These were awe-inspiring conversations filled with compassion and determination, and it was evident that Dance Masters of America is more than just an International Dance Organization, it is family. Thank you to those who participated, these meetings were evidence that distance cannot prevent us from keeping our momentum going.
Since I came on as National Second Vice-President, the National Advisory Committee and National Area Directors have been faced with many obstacles, but together as a TEAM we were able to jump the hurtles and overcome those obstacles. On August 31st, 2020 President Cindy Larsen resigned her position as National President, moving her to Immediate Past President, myself to National President and Penny Koza-Lemansky to National First Vice-President with Charleen Locascio remaining as National Treasurer. I want to assure everyone that this was just a change in title for all of us, as we all remain committed to working TOGETHER to move this prestigious organization forward.
Thank you to our Immediate Past President Cindy Larsen for all you have done to lead our organization over the past two years as our President. Your love and dedication to the organization, as well as your incredible leadership has kept DMA strong and thriving!
We are hopeful that on January 14th-17th we will be able to come together at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN for the 2020 National Solo Title Scholarship Competition. Please be sure to check the website (https://www.dmanational.org) frequently for updated information on this event.
We are also hoping to be able to see each other at the following 2021 Dance Masters of America Events we have planned:
Intensive July 1 – 3
Convention July 4-10
With the great success of the spring chapter meetings via zoom and the uncertainty of travel this season, we’ve decided to continue to stay connected by joining your chapter meetings in a virtual manner. Additionally, your National Area Directors will be reaching out to ask for valuable information that we need to continue our forward momentum. We do not intend to let this virus stop the valuable work of this TEAM.
In closing I want to again assure all members that Cindy, Charleen, Penny and I, along with the National Area Directors: Jeanne, Patricia, Erin, Valerie, Charlene, Brenna and Kathi, will continue to work as a TEAM for the betterment of this 136 year-old organization.

On April 12, in the Ufa Congress Hall “Toratau”, the Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, met with members of the expanded regional team of the championship movement “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia). The Bashkortostan team is now preparing for the IX National Championship, which will be held in the republic from July 21 to 26, 2021.
Opening the meeting, Radiy Khabirov stressed that the championship “Young Professionals” successfully solves the most important task – increases the prestige of blue-collar professions, the quality and competitiveness of vocational education, expands interregional cooperation in this area.
“Today in this hall have gathered guys who in the future with their own hands and energy will create the future of the republic and our country, people are professional and hardworking. We are all together on the eve of a bright event – the National Championship “Young Professionals”. It is a great honor and responsibility for us to hold it. We will fulfill our task of preparing and holding the championship. And your area of responsibility is to make Bashkortostan thunder across the country in the good sense of the word, achieve outstanding victories and improve its position in the ranking of young professionals, rising from eighth to third place, “said Radiy Khabirov.
The head of the republic said that Bashkortostan has a rich history of development of vocational education. In difficult conditions, despite the heavy burden on the budget, the network of secondary vocational education has been preserved. Today it is one of the largest in the country and includes 96 colleges.
“It is very symbolic that we are launching the countdown 100 days before the start of the championship finals on Cosmonautics Day, when our Yuri Gagarin flew into space 60 years ago,” emphasized the Head of Bashkortostan. – We will cheer and support you. I wish you to give your best and show your best qualities. You have 100 days ahead of you to prepare well for the championship.I wish you success”.
Director General of the Agency for the Development of Professional Communities and Workers Young Professionals (WorldSkills Russia) Robert Urazov said that the championship will help the children to understand in practice what modern production is.
In his opinion, during these 100 days that remained before the start of the championship, the guys can improve their skills, work more actively with experts and then victories will come to them.
Deputy Director of the Department of State Policy in the Sphere of Secondary Vocational Education and Vocational Training of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation Tatevik Karabekyan noted that it is especially valuable when the heads of regions take an active part in supporting the movement of “young professionals”.
“I wish you victories, the growth of your professional qualities, perseverance and determination. This path that you have chosen leads you not only to medals, but also to the development of your personality, ”said Tatevik Karabekyan.
Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Nazarov expressed hope that the main result of this unique event will be a legacy in additional competencies that will give the participants of the championship the opportunity to be more competitive in the labor market.
“This will allow you to count on high salaries and new opportunities. Improving the quality of our professional education will also become a legacy of the championship. Teachers will receive new experience, modern equipment, which will be used in the framework of the championship, and then will be distributed among colleges. We will also have new production facilities, in particular, the production of unmanned helicopters, modern packaging materials and a number of others, which we already plan to launch this year. The championship will increase the recognition of Bashkortostan, show its production and investment potential. Our common task and priority is to win first place in the championship, ”said Andrei Nazarov.
“One of the main objectives of the Young Professionals Championship is to increase the prestige of working professions,” said Radiy Khabirov, answering a question from a member of the Bashkortostan national team about the importance of the championship for the republic. – Many of your peers will come to the competition and study with you. They will see how you work on the machines, simulate, this will pull them up and entice them. The championship will also contribute to the tourist attractiveness of the region. Its participants from all over the country will see the sights of the republic, find out what wonderful people live here, and try our cuisine. ”
The final of the national championship “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) is the largest professional skill competition in Russia according to WorldSkills standards among students of secondary and higher professional educational institutions aged 16 to 25 and representatives of the WorldSkills Russia Juniors direction – schoolchildren under 16 years.
In 2021, the final of the IX National Championship “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) will be held from 21 to 25 July in Ufa. Competitions will be held in 105 professional competencies, divided into 7 blocks: construction and construction technologies; information and communication technologies; creativity and design; production and engineering technologies; services sector; transport and logistic; education. Competitions in the WorldSkills Russia Juniors direction are planned for 51 competencies.
More than 1800 contestants will participate in the final, more than 600 of them are juniors. The expert community will be represented by about 2000 people. Competitors and experts from the countries of the Asia-Pacific region and the Commonwealth of Independent States will also take part in the championship.
The business program of the final of the IX National Championship “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) will be held from 22 to 24 July in the congress hall “Toratau”. The program will include several thematic tracks.Speakers and moderators will discuss issues of personnel training and retraining, interaction with regional coordination centers, the formation of new competencies, a demonstration exam according to WorldSkills Russia standards and other projects of the movement, as well as the best regional practices.
The competition part will be held on a specially created site for the event – in the Park of Young Professionals.
90,000 The roster of the Russian national team for the MFM-2021 was announced
Of the 25 players, four were selected in the first round of the 2020 NHL draft. These are goalkeeper Yaroslav Askarov (Nashville Predators, # 11), strikers Rodion Amirov (Toronto Maple Leafs, # 15) and Yegor Chinakhov (Columbus Blue Jackets, # 21), as well as defender Shakir Mukhamadullin (New Jersey Devils “, No. 20).
Askarov became one of three players who took part in last year’s MFM final against the Canadians (3: 4). They are also strikers Vasily Podkolzin (Vancouver Canucks) and Maxim Groshev (Tampa Bay Lightning).
Goalkeeper Vadim Zherenko (Dynamo, Moscow), defenders Alexander Kirpichnikov (Traktor, Chelyabinsk), Ivan Rogov (Severstal, Cherepovets), as well as striker Takhir Mingachev (CSKA, Moscow) were excluded from the preliminary squad.
“The most difficult thing is to take stock at the end of the training camp,” said the head coach of the Russian national team Igor Larionov to the FHR website. certain players are not included in the roster. This does not mean that they are bad players. It is just that today we do not see them in positions for participation in the World Championship. We are grateful to the guys and wish them only success. This news was not easy for them, but life goes on, and this situation will serve as an additional motivation so that in the future they will have the opportunity to prove themselves already at the level of the national team. “
On December 13, the Russian team will fly to Edmonton, where the World Championship will be held at Rogers Place. On December 22 and 24, the Russian national team will play friendly matches against the teams of Slovakia and Canada. On December 26, the Russians will start at the World Cup with a match against the US team.
The tournament will be held without fans in the stands in a safe “bubble” like the one in which the NHL played the Stanley Cup playoffs. Previously, the World Cup was to be held from December 26 to January 5 in Edmonton and Red Deer (Alberta).
The national teams of Russia and the USA will play in Group B at the preliminary stage together with the teams of Sweden, Austria and the Czech Republic. The Russian national team after the match with the Americans (December 26, Saturday, 5:30 Moscow time) will play on Sunday (December 28, Monday, 5:30 Moscow time) with the Czechs, on Tuesday (December 30, Wednesday, 5:30 Moscow time) with the Austrians and Wednesday (December 31, Thursday, 5:30 Moscow time) with the Swedes.
The national teams of Canada, Finland, Switzerland, Slovakia and Germany will play in Group A.
The quarterfinals, which begin on January 2, will feature the top four teams from each group. The semi-finals will take place on January 4, and the first and third place matches will take place on January 5. Since the International Ice Hockey Federation has canceled five U-20 tournaments in the lower divisions, there will be no team that will be downgraded at the 2021 MFM.

Putin (doc, 49 Kb) with a proposal to increase the volume of budgetary provision for the Program of Fundamental Scientific Research (PFNI) of the Russian Federation for a long-term period. The analysis of the plans for resource provision of the program carried out by the trade union shows that, taking into account inflation, the real volume of budgetary funding for fundamental research by the end of the PFNI in 2030 will not only not increase compared to 2020, but will even slightly decrease. In such conditions, full-fledged competition with the leading countries and the achievement of national goals in the field of science is impossible. The necessary financial calculations are given in the letter. The first competition within the framework of ARMI-2021 – “Sayan March” was held on April 15 and 16 in the Krasnoyarsk Territory on the basis of mountain training “Ergaki”.
SUKHUM, April 16 – Sputnik, Badri Yesiava. Servicemen of the Ministry of Defense of Abkhazia completed their participation in the Sayan March at the mountain training base in the Krasnoyarsk Territory on Friday April 16, Lieutenant Colonel of the Abkhaz Army Alyas Vanacha told Sputnik.
The competition consisted of two stages and lasted for two days, during which the teams completed a number of special tasks. The total obstacle route was 50 kilometers. On the first day, the participants overcame a 25-kilometer route, descended from the summit in bundles, fired as part of a group, and descended from a cliff on ropes. In the evening they set up camp in the forest and spent the night there.
“The most difficult test of the first day was the weather. It was just awful. During the preparation period, so much snow did not fall, but here in one day about 70 centimeters of snow fell. There was a very strong blizzard, and the visibility was maximum one and a half meters. This made it difficult for all distances and completing tasks at a time, “said Wanacha.
The teams built huts in the forest and waited for dawn. According to an officer of the Abkhaz army, each participant had everything he needed with him – insulated equipment, a mountain kit, dry rations, and there was also a heating point in the camp. It is forbidden to light fires in that area, as the route runs through the reserve. Despite the discomfort, Vanacha admitted, the Abkhaz team had a cheerful and good mood in the morning.
On the second day of the competition, the weather was not so severe, but the route was more difficult than on the first stage.
“The special tasks of the second day included the planned route, throwing grenades, target reconnaissance, orienteering, climbing to the top according to the time calculation. That is, we looked at the distance on the map and set the time for ourselves to complete the route. According to the rules, overcome this distance it took a minute, “said Vanacha.
The results of the competition will be summed up by the panel of judges on Saturday 17 April. As Wanacha explained, the judges will report the overall results, assessing the performance of each task in points.
The lieutenant colonel of the Ministry of Defense of Abkhazia emphasized the importance of the participation of military personnel in such competitions, since they are gaining a lot of practical experience. The teams showed respect and goodwill to each other, and the organizers provided them with everything they needed.
“Also, the organizers invited us to participate in this competition next year. The opponents were very experienced. Many team members are military personnel of individual units in their countries, who are engaged in mountain training, mountaineering, ski mountaineering. They are experts in their field and serious rivals, “said Vanacha.
In total, within the framework of ARMI-2021, it is planned to hold 34 competitions in 15 countries with the participation of about 95 countries.
