How To Measure
In order to select the correct clothing size, we recommend you take the following measurements using a soft tape measure. If necessary, ask someone else to help.
1. Bust
Wearing a bra, pass the tape measure straight across your back, under your arms and over the fullest point of your bust.
2. Waist
Pass the tape measure around your natural waistline, at the narrowest point of your waist. The tape measure should sit snugly against your body, but should not be pulled too tight.

4. Dress Length
Standing up straight, in bare feet and with both feet together, measure from the middle of the most prominent bone at the base of your nape downwards as far as the length indicated in the product details.

The Return of the Legendary Starter Jacket – American Melon – Blogs
This post was written by a Sports.ru user, every fan can start writing (you can do it here).
Starter is back with the classic NFL satin jackets that became iconic in the 1980s and 90s. In Russia, these jackets are simply and succinctly called bomber jackets.
Clothing company Homage partnered with Starter to launch a new line of licensed NFL jackets for 33 teams (32 active franchises plus the Houston Oilers). They are based on original designs that were part of the first wave of sports merchandise that entered pop culture four decades ago. Became legendary among rappers, athletes, skateboarders and many others.
Homage founded in 2007. One of the slogans that says: “We turn back the clock, calling for eclectic moments and personalities in sports, music and popular culture. From Billie Jean King (tennis player, world number one in 1960-70) to Larry Bird, our clothes tell a story triumph, individualism, preserving the old school and creating a new legacy. Paying tribute to the past.”
Starter was founded in 1971 in New Haven, Connecticut. Starter got famous in the early 1990s thanks to their licensed jackets from the major US professional leagues.
In 1983, the company entered into official licensing agreements with the NFL, NHL and NBA – effectively gaining complete dominance of the merchandising market for the three most popular sports in America. Nearly 150 of the top college teams in the NCAA league were also signed. Starter has not only made licensed sportswear a fashion status symbol, but has also built brand loyalty by making its “S with Star” logo a prominent part of the clothing design. The company innovatively placed its molded logo on the sleeves of the jacket and on the back of the caps (baseball caps).
These jackets became a cult and status symbol of the era. Their glossy satin button-down jackets and caps (baseball caps) became a staple of the era’s hip-hop fashion, it’s hard not to think of the NWA without thinking of the NFL’s Los Angeles Raiders (now Las Vegas) logo. Next, Starter got a contract to make parka jackets worn by coaches in the NFL.
For the retail market, Starter developed the “breakaway jacket”, a semi-over jacket that closely resembled the trainer’s parka. Sales volume at 1989 amounted to 58.9 million dollars. By 1990, their volume had more than doubled to $124.6 million. In the 1990s, Starter conquered more than 25 countries in North America, Europe and the Pacific region and became one of the most popular and recognizable sportswear brands around the world. Jackets have given way to hooded and zippered designs.
Starter has been awarded uniforms for a number of NFL franchises:
- Washington Redskins (1991-96,1998)
- Green Bay Packers (1992-96)
- Los Angeles Raiders (1992-95)
- Pittsburgh Steelers (1992-96)
- San Diego Chargers (199) 4-98)
- New England Patriots (1995-98)
- Minnesota Vikings (1995-98)
- Miami Dolphins (1997-98)
- Philadelphia Eagles (1997-98)
- Baltimore Ravens (1 997-98)
- New York Jets (1999-2000)
Starter has been the official kit supplier for all CFL (Canadian Football League) teams since 1993rd through the 1999 season inclusive. Capitalizing on the high visibility of its name, Starter came face to face with brands such as Champion, Russell and Wilson. Competition for Starter in the licensed sportswear business intensified in 1994 when Logo 7 Inc., the 2nd licensed sportswear manufacturer, obtained the much coveted NFL Pro Line license and increased its advertising budget in an attempt to knock Starter out of the number one position. Gradually, by 2000, the company went into financial decline and their assets were taken over by Nike. In 2007 Iconix Brand Group bought the Starter brand from Nike.
In 2008, Starter signed an exclusive deal with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who became the face of the brand in an advertising campaign. In those years, Starter produced compression t-shirts similar to Under Armor brand t-shirts, compression shorts, basketball shorts, snapbacks for other companies/brands, basketball shoes, jackets without a sports team logo. Starter had a line of sweatpants, jerseys and jackets from Tony Romo. The agreement with Romo lasted until 2013. The Starter also signed Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu to a contract from 2008 to 2012.
In 2018, it was announced that Starter had been selected as the official kit supplier for all eight AAF (American Football Alliance League) teams. “We are proud that Starter, an iconic brand with over 35 years of rich sports heritage, is back on the football field for the first time since 1999,” said Charlie Ebersol, co-founder of the AAF League.
But the league did not last long and closed in the middle of its only season in April 2019. November 2019Starter signs an agreement with The Coca-Cola Company to manufacture and commercialize clothing with the brand’s logo and image.
If in the early 90s the production of NFL uniforms besides Starter was carried out by such brands as Champion, Russell and Wilson, then by the end of the 90s it was already Puma and Nike. Reebok took over production in the 2000s. In the 2010s, Nike made a comeback and still has a monopoly on the NFL uniforms.
Which apparel companies are currently making sports merchandise for fans in the US? Mitchell & Ness has been focusing on the production of vintage products since the early 80s. They are licensed by the major leagues to produce past jerseys, vintage sportswear and baseball caps with vintage touches and old team logos. New Era Company is the number one company in the production of sports headwear (baseball caps, hats, etc.) has been licensed with the MLB baseball league since 1993 years to this day, as well as with the NFL and NBA. It is worth noting another manufacturer of baseball caps – this is the company ’47brand.
And finally, Fanatics is the main supplier of sports merch in the USA now. The company was founded in 2011 in Jacksonville, Florida. Fanatics is a manufacturer and retailer of licensed sportswear (official online store). In 2017, Fanatics acquired Majestic Athletic, a sportswear manufacturer and supplier of all MLB baseball league teams. And most importantly, he signed a 10-year contract with Nike, the NFL and Major League Baseball, which granted the Fanatics the rights to design, manufacture and distribute all Nike fan equipment.
Back to the Starter jacket. She went out of fashion by the end of the 90s, but her legacy remains. And now she’s back. “Inspired by classic designs from the 80s and early 90s, the Homage x Starter satin jackets are made for everyday wear, the company says, with all the classic details of the original: buttons, patch pockets, patches and a branded interior patch. A nod to the past.” .
Here comes the iconic Raiders jacket:
Many models from the Homage satin Starter NFL line have retro team logos on the upper left side of the jacket with buttons, including the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos, Tampa -Bay Buccaneers, Los Angeles Chargers, Detroit Lions and many more.
New team jackets are also present, such as the Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans and Washington Commanders (sorry for obvious reasons, no Redskins), which are a little younger than when the Starter jacket was in its heyday. On the back of the jacket is a wordmark (word mark), also in a retro style.
A hidden bonus to these jackets is the presence of internal patches, each of which is unique and created specifically for each team:
The new line of satin jackets Homage x Starter available now, but so far only in a limited edition. Each jacket costs $145.
In conclusion, I would like to give a rating of the popularity of those legendary jackets, compiled by a resident of Los Angeles, California, it is worth saying that these were the days of rampant street gangs in the city. “Starter jackets were a cult hit for US kids in 1988-93,” he says. If you went to school in those years, you wanted to get it. Will parents shell out $85? And what jacket to choose? Pick one and you’ll enjoy wearing it every day. Choose another one and they will laugh at you for having stupid taste.
Can I wear a Raiders jacket and not be literally beaten up? These were the questions that an 11-year-old child had then.
5. University of Notre Dame.
There are many Irish children in our area. You know those modern baseball cap dudes who get into fights at 2am after hitting bars. Back in 1992, these dudes were getting into fights at 2pm after school in their ND Starter jackets.
4. Los Angeles Kings.
Late 80s and early 90’s, many teams changed their club colors. The transition from bright colors to more rigid. No move was more successful than the transition of the “Kings” from purple-gold to black-silver. The switch coincided with the trade for Wayne Gretzky, and overnight, people who didn’t even know there was a hockey team in Los Angeles the night before were now dressed head to toe in Kings paraphernalia. Even though the Starter Kings wasn’t as dangerous as some of the other jackets, it was definitely in demand. You had to keep your head up if you were walking the streets in that bad boy jacket.
3. University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV Rebels).
Cartoon rebel – the dude is just cool. The red-silver color scheme is dope (beware of creeps). In Los Angeles, there are two major street gangs, the Crips and the Bloods, who are still fighting over turf to distribute drugs. Creep colors are blue and blood colors are red. They actively use sportswear (jackets, hats, baseball caps, etc.) of their own colors. By the way, the “rebels” were the dumbest basketball team.
2. Charlotte Hornets.
By far the most beautiful Starter jacket ever made. This piece is simply amazing. You are cool if you had Starter Hornets.
1. Los Angeles Raiders.
The peculiarity of the Raiders jacket was that it was not the most beautiful jacket, not even close to it, but it was by far the coolest. And the reason it was the coolest was because by wearing this jacket on the street, you were literally putting your life at risk. People have been killed because of this jacket! Yes, one could lose a life because of this jacket. Some 25 year old millennials reading this are probably rolling their eyes and creating some sort of old man meme in their head, but that’s pure fact.
