Scandalous striker became the best Russian scorer in Europe! How does Kokorin do it?
At , Alexander Kokorin was put an end to as a player of a serious level, and he proves that he is still capable of much! The 31-year-old striker is the top scorer of this season among Russian legionnaires in the top leagues of Europe (excluding the countries of the former USSR). In just nine matches as part of Aris from Limassol, the ex-player of Zenit and Spartak scored four goals, and, in addition, made two more effective actions.
Let’s immediately agree not to consider the Cyprus Championship a weak tournament in which anyone will score a lot. In the UEFA ranking, this league is not so far from the Russian one. The RPL takes 18th place, followed by the championships of Croatia, Greece and Israel, and Cyprus is in 22nd position. By the way, higher than the rather strong leagues in Sweden and Hungary, where Ferencvaros Stanislav Cherchesov lights up. This season, the Cypriot teams performed well in European competitions. There are 280 foreign players in 14 clubs, that is, each has an average of two dozen in the application – these people fight for the decent money that they are offered in Cyprus. And most of all foreigners from such football countries as Brazil, Portugal, Spain, France, Serbia, England and Argentina. The list of scorers in the local league is headed by Brazilians, candidates for the national teams of Sweden, Finland, North Macedonia, Cape Verde.
In general, Kokorin does not play against racks. In addition, in a team that aims to fight for the championship. At the moment, Aris is in second place in the league, five points behind leaders Paphos and with one game in hand.
In mid-September, Kokorin scored his first goal in 655 (!) Days in an official match. It can be said that he did it in a corporate style. Received the ball in the left half-flank in front of the penalty area, on a jerk he left the defender and shot from the left into the near corner. The ball flew between the legs of the goalkeeper. However, despite Kokorin’s goal, Aris lost to Karmiotissa in that meeting (1:2).
In early October, Alexander scored in two rounds of the Cypriot Championship in a row. First, he hit the gates of AEK – with a score of 0:1. “Aris” managed a beautiful combination in the center with a wall on the third, and Kokorin competently opened in the penalty area between the two defenders of the opponent. Having received a pass, the attacker decided the episode with a couple of touches. With his right foot, he earned the ball and immediately put it in the far bottom corner. True, this Russian goal did not save the team from defeat (1:2).
Then Kokorin scored against Apollo. Finally the winning goal! With the score 0:0 in the 75th minute, “Aris” famously played out, again with a wall on the third. After a cross from the flank, Alexander cunningly jumped out from behind the back of the defender and hit the target with a falling blow from the goalkeeper’s area, reaching for the ball with his right foot. Then Aris scored twice more and brought the matter to a rout (3:0).
Finally, on Monday, November 7, the Russian striker scored in the match against Omonia (1:1). Kokorin opened the scoring in the 39th minute after a corner. Oleksandr played great ahead of the game, heading in the fight against the defender from the goalkeeper’s line. Our legionnaire celebrated his goal in the style of Cristiano Ronaldo . Pay attention to how different the balls scored by Kokorin turn out.
As for other productive actions of Alexander for Aris, in his debut match with Olympiacos he made an assist on Matiy Shpolyarich , and in the game with Enosis he assisted in the episode with the winning goal Leo Bengtsson . Both times he famously cut through the opponent’s defense with his passes – he gave the ball exactly at the moment when it was required by the development of the game situation.
In seven matches in Aris, Kokorin had seven scoring chances, struck eight shots (six on target) and made seven assists under impact. His passing accuracy is 72%. Alexander has eight successful dribbles in 10 tries and 12 self-inflicted fouls. The statistics of won duels testifies how the newcomer of “Aris” is charged for the fight: 53% is a very good indicator for the attacker. In addition, our legionary has already received three yellow cards.
Fans recognized Kokorin as the best player on the team in October. The coach of “Aris” Alexei Shpilevsky said in an interview on Nobel Arustamyan’s YouTube channel :
“In our first conversation, I felt that Kokorin wants to play, that he is hungry for football and wants to prove to everyone so that they believe in him again.
